Mysterious Happenings, Two; Ashdell Hospital

ain't no new thing
Many years ago, two young boys sat at a gleaming oak table. They dressed very sharply, both wearing impeccable suits, both in well-kept loafers, hair slicked back and glittering like their table. A chessboard was set up, and they were mid-game. They were the same age, from close, powerful families. They did everything together, and this game was no different. One smiled deviously, having captured a piece just moments ago.

In the present, some PokeTechs were ringing around Opaddeka. Yours was one of them. For some, the name was familiar, for others, foreign. Either way, the message read:

"Answers at Ashdell Hospital. If you were at Radloff, be here."

It was signed Millicent Jackson, the military man. The one from Radloff, from the video some had seen and some had only heard of. Those who were there would remember him as having some sort of connection to the strange man and Arthur, those players in the events of not so long ago.

Whether or not you knew him, he knew you. And he had answers. Answers are what we all seek.

Get in quick. Post your arrival to Ashdell Hospital. I may have to restrict sign-ups, because with the amount of people active today, this could get out of hand. Those who were in Part One are expected to join again and will be given preference. The next mod will be ready hopefully by Wednesday. Set your teams now. Put in a full six, but I may limit the numbers for simplicity's sake.

Here we go again.

Wherever she was, upon seeing the short message that she suddenly got, Steely very nearly just ignored it. But... no. She couldn't do that. Being a hero-type and all that garbage didn't allow her to do such a thing.

Though, she was going to be much more prepared this time.

"Aloid, you're crowding me," she said back to the Tyranitar that was looming behind her, stomping along. They were headed to the Ashdell hospital, hopefully to find out what the hell had happened, all those months ago.

Steely had this sinking feeling it was going to be another adventure. But those were fun! Right?

Ryu wondered what the message had been all about... But he had an odd feeling about it, a strange tickle running up his spine. It was these sort of sensations that warned him about something big coming up, something he had felt ever since the derrigible incident all those years ago.

The feeling was so odd that he had even taken out some of his old pokemon before making his way to Ashdell.

He recognized Steel as he walked, but chose not to say anything. She probably didn't remember him, and probably wouldn't really recognize him with his hair dyed blue and tied in a ponytail behind him.

Adventuuuuure~

Now about forty levels higher and four months wiser, we rejoin our heroes in the quest to find out The Fuck Is Going On Here.

Cerb was hoping she saw some familiar faces this time around again, because working with strangers was kinda iffy, and especially in a jam. She was foreseeing some jams this time around too.

Hence, there was Delphi.

So if you almost got lynch mob'd, mauled, and encountered a Giratina, why are you going back? The Absol groused as she padded alongside her trainer. Sparky gave a chitter of agreement from Cerb's shoulder, flattening his ears and running his paws over them nervously. Cerb simply shrugged.

"I suppose you could call it darn human curiosity. Besides, where else am I going to see legendaries?" She muttered, thinking back to the giant tentacle monster. Who knows, maybe they'd meet Shaymin this time or something. "Anyway, it's a thing to do. Keep an eye out for people we know,"

Ay - ay, captain. :<

The promise of answers. Your one weakness.

Damn this curiosity. When Alex was last at Radloff, it ended up with the OME being hunted as terrorists and him only escaping certain death by hitching a ride on Floyd's spaceship. His desire to not want something similar or worse to happen was outweighed by his craving for answers and adventure. The same craving that had nearly gotten him killed on countless occasions.

Ah well. Them's the breaks.

Alex saw Steely as he neared the hospital, and waved, moving up to stand next to her.

"Any ideas about what's going on?"

Next to him, Dynamo looked up at Steely and barked enthusiastically. It had been a while since the Manectric had been in Alex's travel plans. This was the perfect time to stretch his legs, so to speak.

Not sure exactly why he decided to go there, Souji found himself in front of Ashdell Hospital where quite a few others gathered. He didn't recognize any of them and decided it may be best not to attract too much attention to himself. He had just recently started as a trainer and wasn't too sure of his abilities yet, but he knew that this Jackson person had some answers...maybe even about his father's whereabouts. There was no way he could pass up this chance.

Meandering through the streets of Ashdell on a walk, Prosper couldn't help but once again lift his Poketech from the pack and bring up the message. It concerned those events from several months ago... the ones he had spent the months trying to forget. Why was this being brought up again? No, it had yet to be resolved. Questions without answers still remained. Still, that didn't mean he wanted to be here.

Even as the events were happening, Prosper spent the time trying to make sense of it. He had been a witness to too many murders, and more assassinations took place during its course than he would care to think about. All for what purpose? Too many people with too many agendas were involved. Still, it seemed like every event was carefully orchestrated, as if somebody was the mastermind behind it all. Then, there had been Giratina. How did its existence play into the situation?

Contemplating these questions, Prosper decided he had spent enough time avoiding the issue. The hospital had come into view several times during his useless stroll. The message from Jackson designated it as the meeting spot. The summons had also instructed for all those involved during the action all that time ago to be there as well, and it no doubt was meant to explain what had happened. Prosper hadn't realized it until then, but he did thirst for answers. There was much, much more to this than they were being told, and he yearned to know what it was.

Heaving a sigh, the young trainer stepped into the hospital's parking lot, glancing up at the building's large exterior as he made for the front door. A few trainers from before had already gathered there; obviously, he wasn't the only one eager to wrap this deal up. What surprised him was that people he didn't recognize had also flocked to the scene... did they have any idea what they were getting into? This was not an adventure through which they would claim fame and glory. It was real, and Prosper shuddered at the thought of becoming involved himself, remembering all from before as the horrid memories overwhelmed him.

Floyd wasn't surprised that he hadn't heard the last of Men in Black. The proposed meeting place was what drew his curiosity. The hospital though? Floyd had trepidations about the invitation.

The country was without a leader and naturally its people were uneasy. Floyd was among them. At the head of the OME still but in hiding, no thanks to the unresolved situation spurred by the late Edmund, the Scavian was reluctant to show his face in public. In secret hed made repairs to his craft, which, oddly enough, had resumed normal operations after the Man in White had fled and Giratina had been released.

Jackson was promising answers though, and that was what he wanted most. The country needed a head, he needed his name cleared. With the evidence of his peoples innocence destroyed, the alien was in limbo, stuck slinking through the shadows like a rat. It was because of this he didnt dare go near the town with the ship, repaired or not. Floyd snuck in, like a common criminal under the guise of the OME camo gear.

He didnt speak a word to his team who had already assembled, for fear f drawing attention to them and to himself. He hung back, waiting and watching.

'Go to Ashdell', they said. 'It'll be a nice change of scenery,' they said...

Celeste found herself in Ashdell, preparing for a vacation on the hot and sunny Corona Island . So far, she'd hiked through her favourite jungle to get to Felcrest, managed to convince another trainer crossing the ocean to sail her to Tromante, hiked through the tropical forest, and made her way through the Sanguine Fields while narrowly avoiding being mauled by wild pokemon.

She officially never wanted to set foot in a tropical environment ever again. Nor, for other reasons, did she ever want to see another onix as long as she lived.

A shower, good night's sleep, and a meal, however, had given her back a more usual level of cheer. It was still hotter than what she was used to, but it was a dry heat that she could more easily tolerate. Pink tanktop, white shorts, hair pulled back in a ponytail, and she was ready to see the sights of the town.

However, that was when the message came across her Poketech, and her trip to the Ash Gardens was suddenly derailed by a detour to the hospital. Celeste didn't know why she'd listened to it in the first place. The message was cryptic, and she had a distinct feeling that it hadn't been intended for her. She didn't know the name at its end, or at least thought she didn't. She hadn't been 'at Radloff' in the sense the strange sender had meant, she was sure. She had no idea what answers to what questions were being offered.

All in all, Celeste Hunter had no business showing up.

Which, above anything, was probably the reason she was standing there outside the hospital, her chikorita, Jasmine, on one shoulder and her chatot, Hunter, on the other, idly toying with the tip of her ponytail and looking lost.

There was something hanging in the air, a near-tangible mixture of fear and curiousity coursing through the people that filled the space around her. Some of them knew eachother, others seemed determined not to interact. More than one looked like trainers far out of her league. Part of her wanted to flee, to forget she ever got the message while she could, but there was something binding her here, and she swallowed deeply while trying to vanish into the background.

Jasmine did not exactly pick up on the same anxiety running through her trainer. Or, rather, she picked up on it, but chose to completely ignore it in favour of the tyranitar towering over one of the other trainers here. She fixed her leaf and adjusted the Miracle Seed around her neck, and Hunter raised a nonexistant eyebrow at her sudden interest in grooming herself, glancing between the bite-sized chikorita and rock titan in disbelief.

"Damn. It." Kaizanu whispered under her breath. She sat up, the grass cuttings falling out her hair. A nice nap ruined by the constant beeping and buzzing of her poketech. Sluggishly, she pulled the device out of her pocket and looked over it. Huh. The strange things happening, getting answers for them? To her, it was all a blur; they were things that weren't important, not even the encounter with the legendary, but she had to know if Floyd's name would be cleared. He was her leader. Looking to her snoozing gator and fire dog, Kaizanu withdrew them, leaving only her metang out with her. He hovered nearby, quirking makeshift eyebrows of grass. "We're going."

I know, he replied in thought. He knew everything Kaizanu thought, just like most psychics did of their own trainers. Quickly zooming up to his trainer, he wiped out a few stranded grass clippings from her hair. Will we get to see the white spaceship again? He recalled the image for Kaizanu, and she shook her head.

How was she to know? Nevertheless, they had to get going to the Ashdell Hospital, if they wanted any answers. Kaizanu stood up, stretching. What's the soonest we can get there? she asked in thought. Now, Mugen shrugged. He didn't know the train schedules! He knew that the sky was blue and the sea was green. Right? Or did he mess it up again? Back on track, the two went to Ashdell, arriving on the hot island by ways unknown at the moment.

Approaching the hospital, she noted some notable people and recalled them in memory. One she didn't see, but expected to be there was Floyd. Maybe he was in hiding? Deciding it wasn't an issue and if the alien desired a speaking companion, he would seek her out, Kaizanu forced her way towards the middle of the crowd, maybe being about to get an word of what was going on.

At this point, Mugen hovered far above the crowd, looking down to see anything interesting and try to spot his white spaceship thing. He had seen it on television last time, so he expected the thing to be here this time.

0.3 :gexp Yes, I know that I'm on vacation, but I want to be a part of this.

Jared suddenly found himself in Ashdell. He blinked around in surprise. How the hell did he get here when he was in Kevin Baconville, waiting for the Magnet Train to get back up and running? Ah well, let's not dwell too much on things. There's something going on over there, so Jared headed over there. There were all sorts of trainers that he felt that he should recognize, but couldn't. He also had no clue as to what's going on. But it seemed interesting.

There was a lack of the cumbersome hiking pack that he usually carried on his back. Instead, there was a small bag that contained the necessary items. His metal armguard gleamed in the sunlight, showing signs that it had been battered due to marks that decorated the surface. Most of them came from Auraiso when he was using it as a munching toy. The lil croc had always been this way ever since Jared got him from the lab four months ago. He should've been a Croconaw already, but he's far from it. Especially since the boy hated violence.

Speaking of the croc, he could be seen right besides Jared, trying to fall in step as the boy took those larger steps. It was difficult for Auraiso to do that, as he was forced to take several for one big step that Jared took. When Jared stopped to take in the view, the Totodile also stopped to look at the other Pokemon while wearing a toothy smile. It was not in his nature to go and try to greet them. No, he would rather to stay at Jared's side at all times. You may never know what would happen. He would make sure that Jared would be safe. Not that it was needed with Rono nestled in one of Jared's Pokeballs.

The boy waited for something interesting to happen. He hadn't noticed an alien among the company.

"Answers at Ashdell Hospital. If you were at Radloff, be here."

Shed mentally scoffed at the cryptic message, pocketing the device and continuing business as usual. But business as usual was the same old tedium shed been forced to endure though for years upon years now. And she recognized the beginnings of an event. The kinds that promised to break that tedium, flip it around, throw it sideways, and scatter it into oblivion. Even when the thought didnt immediately come to her, instinct and experience recognized the opportunity. And deep within her innermost reaches, despite the misfortune that usually befell such occurrences, she knew that despite it all, it was a mystery worth chasing. So it poked and it prodded, a growing niggle in the back of her mind until the constant thoughts became obsessions, forcing her to look at this message once and again, trying to decipher its meaning, wondering what it wanted from her and her from it.

Answers. There was no answers to be had. Ones that she cared for anyway. The myriad of questions that demanded such made the foundation of her purpose in life. For without them, she had nothing, much less than the nothing she had now. Without a home, without roots, without a pastshe had only the future to look towards to, and her lifes mysteries to fuel the inspiration to move forward. For them to be answered, what would become of her then? But surely this person whom shed never known and never met couldnt know what she sought.

They couldntno, they wouldnt. Such answers were never to be had.

Still, the thrill of the chase was not something that was going to fade, and she suspected it was only a matter of time before it drove her to insanity. Mental discomfort was bad enough without her present aliments to further compound it. Calling on Endymions strength, they made a hasty backtrack to Ashdell for investigation.

'Let's see what answers you'll yield, Mr. Jackson.'

Yuki wasn't really sure why he was there. Curiosity? A sense of adventure? He didn't know. All he knew and all he needed to know for now, was that he was here and it was too late to turn back now. He sighed as he walked, Kagami walking next to him like a guard dog lion. Well, what was the worst that could happen? Besides, it wasn't like Yuki had anything better to do with his time. All he really did was wander around, currently. This would be an interesting change of pace.

He looked around. He recognized some people, mostly from the OME. He decided to just say quiet, though. He barely knew them anyway, so he would probably just waste their time if he talked to them. For now, he would just wait and see what happened.

Ian stopped in his tracks as his poketech started beeping at him frantically. He flipped it open and it automatically read the message he had sent aloud, a nifty feature he had gotten installed so he could actually tell what messages people had sent him.

"Answers at Ashdell Hospital. If you were at Radloff, be here." the poketech said in its unnervingly robotic voice, mispronouncing Ashdell and the name signed at the bottom.

"Interesting..." Ian mumbled to himself, as he pondered the message.

You can't be serious, Dalal, or Lala as Ian preferred to call her, let her opinion be known through her psychic speech. Ian had found her, and the new meowth slinking beside him, sitting in his pc box one day. Sasha seemed to have acclimated quickly but Lala still took up some issues with Ian.

"I don't like this..." Nibbs said agitated. Howver, Lala pretended not to hear and did not translate the rat's feelings to Ian. Nibbs glared at Dalal who looked down her nose at him. She felt superior just because she was a higher level than everyone else Ian had. To be fair there was something to it.

Ian glanced down at Nibbs, sensing his unease, but said, "I'm pretty sure you guys do not watch the news but the guy who sent this could be really important. I'm going to check it out. Luckily we're close to Ashdell."

Nibbs nodded, once Ian said the word it was his duty to follow it, and tried to push the discomfort from his head. Lala gave a psychic huff and Sasha didn't much care wherever they went as long as he looked fabulous. The cat managed to groom while they walked.

They reached the pokecenter quickly, and walked through the double doors. His arm was still in a sling, his other was busy using his seeing cane, and with only three pokemon accompanying him, he didn't look like much of a trainer.

There's quite a number of confused people in here, Lala said to Ian.

"Yes, Lala, I can hear that," Ian said calmly, hearing the mess of confused voices inside. He stopped once he was clear of the door and tried to focus on figuring out what the hell was going on.

You're the one who asked me to assist you in see- Lala froze mid sentence as she saw the Mewtwo leaning nonchalantly against the wall. Even if she considered herself especially gifted, being one of the few stantler that could speak telepathically with humans or even other pokemon, she knew when she was outmatched and the legendary's psychic presence made her back away from him a couple steps and cringe.

Don't talk to the man on the wall,

"Why?"

Just don't...

Answers at Ashdell hospital? What the heck did that mean? Liz had no idea what the message meant or why she'd received it but the young woman wasn't one to pass up an adventure.

After a quick tram ride and a bit of wandering around the town, Liz soon arrived with her companions at the hospital. Several other young trainers, some she recognized, were also there. The woman wouldn't be surprised if they had received the mysterious message as well.

Tansy and Cecylia seemed very uncomfortable. The tropical island was sweltering, nothing like they were used to on the mainland. The leaves on poor Tansy's back drooped from the heat and Liz could feel the heat radiating off of Cecylia's small body. Liz chuckled at her two. They'd have to get used to this heat, 'cause when she had some spare time they'd be out here hunting down a Ponyta.

The trio found a spot to sit down and wait to hear about what exactly was going on here.

No, emphatically no. Arell wanted answers; closure. You don't just walk away from that kind of crap without it occupying your thoughts--wondering why. How that all happened, but most importantly why.

When the opportunity arose for an answer--no matter how indirect--her mind jumped at the chance.

Yes, it was probably all just a game someone was furiously masturbating to. But--she didn't care. This was the first thing that had gotten her so riled up in a long time, and she was going to get that answer.

But, needless to say, Arell's shotgun was assembled and loaded this time--and her open carry permit was comfortably in a side pocket away from other clutter.

Just in case, you know.

Answers. So they promised answers. Answers to what? Answers to a certain something happening at a certain somewhere.

Things happened. They passed, but the enigmatic cliffhanger was never settled. Perhaps that was the reason for the resurrection of activity around these things which she, Satari Kobayashi, knew not of. There were people that knew more than others. There were newcomers, like her, who were simply drawn to the bait for the curious, who were probably unsuspecting of the adversaries and their methods. And thus, more and more people wrap themselves into knowing, and with knowing came huge responsibility.

And perhaps these people were able to shoulder the truth when it came, because they were the ones bothering themselves to know, to learn, to discover this truth for themselves.

If people were getting killed because of these strange happenings, then it was worthy enough of capturing the attention of Satari Kobayashi and many other trainers beyond her level. If things were serious enough for Giratina to appear, then it was worthy of receiving regional attention from trainers all around.

The truth was heavy. So would be the adventure. But no one seemed to stop her from doing this. On the contrary, people were gathering here, arriving in anticipation of the promised answers. No denial at all. Perhaps they were too wrapped up in their ideals, or too occupied in their motivations and thoughts.

Or perhaps, things were just getting interesting. And it was simply time to join forces.

Well, that was interesting. Ben really didn't have anything better to do than go and look into a mystery and get himself killed in the process. Kinda like Steely, he was heroic like that.

And curious, too. Answers. To what? He had no idea, but answers were promised. And so, why not go and find out what these answers were?

And hopefully, in the process, find out the questions. Jax provided generally useful transportation in a hurry, and he patted her shoulder a bit awkwardly as he slid down outside town and walked in, keeping one hand on her shoulder so that she could guide him along as she was used to, making their way to the hospital, to see what this was all about. He wasn't a cat, so hopefully curiousity wouldn't hurt TOO much...

ain't no new thing
.1

I've hopefully learned from my mistakes last time. I've fast-forwarded through a lot of the set-up so we can get moving.

Those of you who arrived were greeted by the tall black man. In the way he stood, his military upbringing was clear. He looked dignified and official, but something was sad on that aged face. "Hello," he volunteered, when those who would come had come. His voice was calm and comforting, as some of you may remember. "Some of you may remember me. Some of you are new. I messaged you all, I hope you all will be willing to help. Those who were involved in Radloff may be more inclined, but you newcomers are welcome as well." He bit his lip. This, the crowded lobby of Ashdell Hospital, was not the place for the discussion he had in mind.

"My father... he is not long for living," he said, breaking the silence of the elevator. "He... he is the one that was involved. Slygood... that's the name. Still is for one. Bah, he'll tell you." He looked down at his impeccable boots. Ding.

You exited, walked a short while, and then entered an isolated hospital room. The door read "Jackson, Sfida". Millicent stopped, hand on the doorknob. "His... his memory's going. But he remembers things, just need to spark it." He tentatively slid the door open. The room was small, but you squeezed. Laying on the bed was an old man, late nineties at the youngest. Machines beeped, and a bag was hung, dripping some sort of medicine to an IV. Whatever it was was insufficient. The man laying there was barely alive, he looked almost like a corpse. His skin was like weathered leather.

"Sir," said Jackson, tentatively. "They are here."

It was surprising to hear the man speak so coherently. "Thank you... son." He couldn't speak much without taking a breath.

"The story, sir. You wanted to tell them from the beginning."

"Yes, son. Could you...?" He feebly gestured to a remote attached to the bed. Millicent pressed the button, and the old man was now sitting up.

"Seventy years ago," he began, voice raspy and weak. "That's where it starts. Johnathon Slygood, that was his name. He wanted the world. The Slygood family... they, they started the PokeMart franchise. Very rich, very powerful. We all were. John, he was ambitious. Twenty-something, like all kids that age, think they know everything. But he was damn close, he knew how things worked, knew how to make them work for him. He wanted everything, too. His father, mother, both had died. He was alone, so young, so much money and power. He was smart. Needed connections.

"A friend of the Slygood family was Andrew Silvester. His father had political connections, he's the one that got government money for the Pokemon Centers in every city. It was his hospital, though, the first center, so it was a family company with government funding. He brought in the bank family, the Ulrichs. More. He brought in us, Mill. I was high in the army, then. He wanted influence there. I agreed. The first meeting was shortly after.

"Johnny, he was organized. He knew what he wanted, and he knew what we wanted. I was foolish then, only thirty, after power too. He had a realistic plan. It... he... I-"

"It's alright sir, take it easy, take it easy," urged Millicent, resting a gentle hand on his father's head.

"Him and Andrew, the close ones, they had kids," blurted Sfida. "They were ten or so, when it happened. They were close, very close."

"When what happened?"

Suddenly, his head fell into his hands. "I'm... trailing off. Sorry, everyone... Mill, I..." He stopped. "I just... the kids. I..." The old man started crying. "I... I'm sorry I can't be more help. I..."

"Quiet... father. It's fine, really," said Jackson quietly. They embraced for a short while, and Jackson waved you outside. "I'll be back in a bit, father."

Outside in the hall, Millicent glanced around. He leaned in, whispering now. "I... he's got a week to live. The memories are there. Sometimes I say something and it sparks something. I've never gotten more than the kids. He can't remember the plan, but he talks about Johnathon having one. I have my guesses, though. Johnathon Slygood, father of Arthur Slygood. That I know. Andrew Silvester, Jacob Silvester. The founders of Slygood Group. If you'll remember, he was the one in the white suit at Radloff. Arthur was in disguise as the PETP member. But, I'm sorry, I abandoned you all at that point. I can't do that now. You see... I was appointed as president following Edmund Ulrich's murder. I, well, I never gave them an affirmative answer. The target on my back, from Arthur and Jacob... well, I don't want to take the risk. Father, a few days ago, he told me he wanted me to stop them. He mentioned Giratina. He said if they continued to fight over such immense powers, they could tear the region apart. So, I called you in. Back in Radloff, you were the only ones opposing them both. You didn't take sides. You got help from both. They both thing they control you. You opposed them, above all, so I need your help. Sorry for being so cryptic up until now, I've just been confused. Here's my plan.

"We need to spark Sfida's memory. In his old house, there was a secret room I was never allowed in when I was growing up. I think there might be answers there. Unfortunately, I've been being watched by Slygood Group and Silvester Group since my appointment. I think the only reason they haven't killed me is because I haven't accepted yet. As far as I know, they don't think they can get me to work for them, which is true. Anyway, the house was one of their targets. I think this lends credence to my theory. Whatever is in there, I think it'll help him remember. We only have a week."

He paused here.

"Now, I don't know if you picked up on it... but Slygood controls everything. Pokemon Center. PokeMarts. Banks. Even more. All the way down to the Berry King and the Magnet Train.the Remember the region-wide power outage? They're the ones providing our power, they're the ones that fixed it. They are everywhere, they have people watching everywhere. If you walk out of this Hospital with me, you are cut off. You'll be under as much watch as me. This hospital is one of the only places I could send Sfida that where their nurses, the doctors, the guards, everyone would be answering to them, and watching. And they're infiltrating here, too. They've hired five new janitors in the last week, all Slygood members. They're after me, they'll be after you. I'd advise you all to withdraw your Pokemon, stock up on healing item, food, money, everything. No PokeTechs. Calls, emails, they control that whole network. They'll pick us out in seconds if you make any sort of connection. You won't be able to get it soon. To you OME members... Floyd... I'm not sure of their presence in your organization, but if I had to bet, someone, no matter how lowly, will be watching. Nowhere, nothing is safe, people.

"My old house is in Lorenzo. Our best bet is to wait for nightfall. We've got enough here to cover each other's backs. Time is of the essence. My father... he doesn't have much."

Those of you who would stay and help headed down to the lobby while Jackson ducked inside the room to say goodbye to his father. You milled around for a few moments, but a feeling of unease grew. Things were... different, out of place. The lounge was empty, save for a receptionist and janitor. Earlier, Jackson had refrained from talking because of the amount of people waiting. A security guard was leaning against the window, outside, while a smoker took a drag by a garbage can. The designated smoking area sign was around the corner.

None of them spoke, but your cautious silence was drawing sidelong glances. They weren't stopping you, or speaking. Waiting for Jackson? They didn't seem to recognize your group. Play it how you will.

Sfida is my great-grandmother's name. She's 99 and freakin' awesome. Hi Gram, I based a character off of you in a silly Pokemon game that you'll never know about.

The next mod will depend on how quickly you all respond. If anyone was left behind that really really wants to get in, PM me and we'll see.

Kaizanu listened in silence, following where the man went, and sticking with the group. She couldn't remember much of anything that had gone on in the prior events, but did recall the PETP member. Kaizanu didn't have many questions, nor had she any want for answers, but she was dragged in by coming here. She would have to follow through until the end. With Millicent unsure of the other's infiltration of the OME Network, Kaizanu found herself glancing around the room, pinpointing her members and wondering.

She glanced sideways at Mugen, who nodded in turn. Everyone... we're being watched? he felt unsure and afraid at the thought. It was clear the iron claw pokemon was familiar with being watched. In fact, he had grown up in a virtual prison, taking care of small things. Always being watched by Number VI... Mia. Can we go home, Kaiz? he asked, suddenly afraid of going on, being watched. All those things.

"No," Kaizanu whispered. We don't have one. Looking sharply at the scared pokemon, her eyes told a story of never backing down. Being afraid of something did not mean avoiding it, it meant to take on those fears, no matter what they were. She felt Mugen whimper, and so she softened her gaze. Just settle down. The whole ordeal'll be over soon enough. She placed her hand on the metallic pokemon and withdrew him.

Kaizanu sighted the door and walked outside, eying the folks who stared at the group. Placing herself apart from them, she frowned. "Mom ain't lasting long, is she?" she said to no one in particular. If someone wanted to join in on her coded conversation, they were welcomed. After all, it wasn't doing anyone any good drawing attention to themselves in such a large crowd. Kaizanu did feel awkward standing there by herself, though.

Looking up at the sky and leaning against the windowed walls, she couldn't help but let her thoughts wander. Recalling the man in her mind, she wondered what she would do if he accepted the task of becoming the President of their region. Was it worth being a part of the military that took orders from someone else other than their Grand General? Scanning the crowd for a telltale flickering, perhaps of Floyd, but all the while, she smelled the acrid scent of smoke.

Turning to the smoker, she said, "Around the building, please. You're fouling up the damned air." Staring him down, she hoped that the smoker would leave. She wasn't beyond using force, but... shifting her gaze to the security guard, she quirked a brow at him. "What, you're just going to stand there and let this guy make sick people sicker?" She snorted. Some security guard.

For someone with red hair, Celeste was very skilled at making herself invisible. Actually, to be more accurate, she was very good at being silent. Without really thinking about it, she shifted her weight to the balls of her feet, heels in air, and followed behind the man she assumed was Millicent Jackson with careful, quiet steps that wound up appearing something similar to a mix between a runway model's walk and a slightly subdued sneaky tiptoe walk, graceful and precise. She danced around obstacles in her path and tried to avoid physical contact. She was almost like a spectre flitting through the group, determined not to disturb, and her pair of passengers made a clear effort to hang on and keep quiet.

It was only in the elevator, squeezed into a corner and staring at the back of Mr. Jackson's head, that she dared utter a single sound in the form of a sympathetic whimper at his comment on his father. She didn't have much in the way of blood relatives left that she was aware of, so the idea of losing one made her feel like she'd been punched in the stomach. Hunter mimiced the sound, for lack of anything better to do, and Jasmine made one similar. Otherwise, she remained a shadow until they walked into the hospital room.

The sight of the man there, barely alive, sent a wave of sympathy washing over Celeste. Getting as close to one of the walls as she could without harming her chikorita or chatot, her breath came out in a single, shaky exhale. That poor man, life like a thin thread desperate not to break. It all made her feel sick, and she swallowed heavily to fight back the feeling. Green eyes darted around the hospital room, looking at everything but the people in it, and she only moved her body, in the form of a startled jolt, when Jasmine hopped gracefully to the ground in order to stretch her legs.

Despite being the most human-savvy of her team, Jasmine was still animal-like in the sense of giving no mind to things that didn't effect her. The pint-sized chikorita pranced around the room, darting around legs as she examined the various humans here, trying to get a sense of whom would be a good source of treats or petting. Hunter was enthralled, but not with the man's words; instead, starting with a startled squeak at the remote and movements of the bed, the jungle bird was looking at every bit of technology in the room, ruffling his colourful feathers and leaning so far forward it was a miracle he didn't fall off Celeste's shoulder. The thinly-masked look of pain on Celeste's face, the part of it that wasn't brought on by sympathy-induced nausea, gave a good indication that it was force of grip holding him there.

Now, Celeste was, indeed, paying attention, and, as the story went on, her gaze would drift toward the old man's face, wanting to make sure she didn't miss a word. All of this was above her full understanding. Rich families, connections, big plans, politics. Her middle class, public high school graduate self could only barely grasp what he was saying and implying. By the time he spoke of children, she pushed slightly away from the wall, eyes no longer drifting, but when he started crying she backed up again, startling Hunter back into reality, and was eager to look and be elsewhere as father and son embraced, feeling like she was intruding on something she had no business seeing.

Being outside in the hallway made Celeste feel less like she was going to retch, but her breathing was still shaky as she forced herself to listen to Millicent as he spoke. Some of his words slotted into proper categories in her mind, and her stomach was beginning to tie itself into knots. PETP at Radloff, Edmund Ulrich's murder, those both linked to memories of news stories she remembered but had made every effort not to think about. Giratina, though, was not a word she expect to hear. The idea of the legendary Renegade Pokemon appearing when it supposed to be a being of another realm entirely, incompatible at best with this reality...

This was bad.

Celeste didn't even feel Jasmine rubbing against her legs like a cat, fear robbing her of her senses. She was learning about things that no human being should know. Either you were involved, a pawn of one or the other, or you were dead. She took a single, silent, step backward, terrified. She wasn't a part of this. He didn't know her, didn't know that she couldn't be bought like the ones he knew. Why had she been contacted? Why was he not surprised to see herself and, presumably, others that were not 'at Radloff?' Why, by all that was good and right in the world, did he trust her to help him?

Because she would help him. Despite the seemingly accidental nature of her involvement, despite the terror ensnaring her mind, despite her youth and inexperience as a trainer, she was going to help.

That was why she remained a silent shadow as the group relocated to the lobby, recalling her pair of pokemon as subtly as possible and minimizing the pokeballs. She knew where to stock up on supplies. The locations of stores formed in her mind, like a modified version of her Poketech's map, showing them in a clear, efficient loop. She was mentally calculating the price of objects and her current funds. Food, water, medicines, maybe new a First Aid kit for herself and a last resort for her pokemon if she was out of medicines.

Would trying the PC storage system be too risky? She only had three, two prized fighters and one handy dandy translator, because she had intended to go on a hunt for new recruits. It probably would be; any kind of electronic communication would be too dangerous now. Celeste pulled out and switched off her Poketech, noticing the emptiness of the space besides themselves. She saw a janitor looking her way. What had Millicent said about janitors here?

Then one of the members of the group spoke, moving away from the crowd. Celeste looked at her. Right now, Celeste was pale and shaky, looking like someone who'd been given some harsh news, which was certainly not an untruth. She watched their 'audience,' of sorts, in her peripheral vision, while pretending to be focused on the woman. She bit her lip in feigned concern, deciding that, while she doubted anyone would buy them as sisters, she could act the akwardly-trying-to-comfort cousin or friend pretty easily in her state.

So, she stepped forward to take a place beside the strange woman, looking unsure, like she wanted to offer some kind of way to console her about her 'dying mother' but didn't know what to say. She felt she put on a good act, since she was still reeling from all the new information and really didn't know how to approach these newfound allies in...whatever they were going to be doing. The key to acting was putting real emotions to work.

Celeste opened her mouth, not really intending to speak but deciding that she should look like she wanted to, when the woman turned her attention to the smoker and snapped at him. She hadn't really noticed that fact that he wasn't in the proper area to smoke, but decided to assist by putting a hand to her mouth and coughing. "What a time to be without my puffer," she lied in a grumble, the first words she'd spoken since arriving at the hospital, as she grabbed at one of the pockets of her shorts in vain for the imaginary device. Nothing got a smoker out of an area quicker than someone with asthma, in her experience.

And then, answers began to surface themselves, one by one. She didn't know at all, and she wasn't all that keen to know anyway. Knowing was to incur the responsibility onto herself. Why had she decided that she would be involve in such major danger? It definitely wasn't chivalry. It definitely wasn't Giratina. Curiosity, perhaps, but maybe she just wanted something to do; something positive. Like helping. Like relieving the truth. Like sharing the burden so that things could actually be done. Deaths. Plots. Conspiracies. It was simply a large group fighting their desires against another large group.

Satari was not recognized, if anything. Being a mere beginner, she was not surprised at all to notice that most of the trainers didn't even know anything about her - her first debut to the world was only the notable Melee, and she had been taken down in merely two turns. The OME stood prominently in the forefront of this operation as always, as did some of those who shared some decent adventure with her in Rose. Hiding was not difficult. She was but an individual, no large name or title tied to her name, a possible Pokemon trainer but never powerful enough to do too much.

Perhaps these kinds of people would be valued in this operation. Casual, unnoticed people, able to avoid the detection of the large Slygood Organization.

There was no denying it. Sfida's current state was depressingly deplorable, and his story was just as heart-wrenching as it could get. Whoever said that the most tragic of stories had to be carefully crafted? Reality was the best form of tragedy - the many enigmatic occurences of bizarre events was testament to this statement. Slygood, the biggest operation of Opaddeka, was planning something. That much was clear. Beyond the emotional baggage, beyond all that crazy emotional stuff, shit was about to happen in the worst way possible.

And then, suddenly, they were to be cut off without connections to the world, and only dependent on their own wit and ability. The OME people had guns, yes, but were those enough to deal with an entire corporation manipulating most of the region? These people had clout, money, power. The OME was perhaps able to deal with half of these, and she - Satari Kobayashi - would be a mercenary in this ever-revolving heck of a mess.

One week to smuggle Sfida out of Radloff, back into Lorenzo, where the Slygood Kings were ready to smash them apart. How insane did that sound? Half of them might pretty much die in a glorious spurt of fireworks. She could expect dirty play. Bombs. Traps. Triggers. All sorts of funny stuff that was about to happen. And she would only have as many supplies as she could carry. First Aid, perhaps? Medication? Painkillers?

Too much to do, too little time to think. She'll have to start, even in the Lobby.

And a mass of people emerged from the elevator, right into the Lobby. Even without Mr. Jackson around this massive crowd was too eye-catching for anyone not to notice. Pfft, it was not as though they were unaware of our plans at all. Bad disguises from the janitor, the guard, the receptionist. But it worked. There was no way of revealing their masks - revealing them would pretty much mean game over for us.

And Kaizanu of the OME attempted a cryptic statement, which she was largely grateful for. People around her continued to pile on the guises, but Satari knew better than to attempt to trick them. The thicker the guise, the easier it is to see through. Or so they say. And she couldn't really stand the smoke, couldn't really stand the number of eyes looking at her, at them.

'It's ok. She'll be alright.'

And with that casual statement, she left the lobby to enter a toilet, where she could at least have some breathing space. Even the toilet was tapped, she was sure of it. But she could at least avoid the glances of those pesky little spies. Her Poketech twitched, as a message from Ryme (OOC: Sendokami) popped in.

Shit.

Hi Ryme. Won't be meeting you, got to attend a friend's mother's funeral.

And she turned off all other devices avaliable to her. All her three Pokemon were safe in their Pokeballs, all ready to fight for their lives. Brilliant. She had already expected that much the moment she entered the Hospital. All that was left was just to stock up on some supplies. Well, she could be going on a hike. A casual hike. No one would know.

She flushed her toilet bowl and exited the toilet in utmost urgency. Tap, tap, tap. Time was running out. She waited for the others, looking at Kaizanu scolding the security guard with interest, leaning lazily against a wall.

Jackson. Millicent Jackson. How could Floyd ever forget him. Somehow, the very sight of the man turned his stomach. Yet here he was. Standing in full camo, pressed against stagnant white wall that smelled strongly of Lysol, and gritting his teeth as the man spoke to his dieing parent, Sfida. It was wrong of him to detest the other General so much, but the Scavian couldnt help himself. It was with great effort that he forced himself to stay put and listen the old ones story. He was rewarded with names, names and some broken history but no real direction.

Silvester and Slygood, two enterprising men who no doubt had two enterprising children. Somehow it was the story of the children that they needed. Millicent knew more, including that Author, the man who consistently intervened and whos enigmatic maneuvering frustrated the outcast alien pilot to no end, was the son the of this Jonathan Slygood, the self same owner of the pokemart chain. The man in the white suit, the one who had condemned him and his team to be fugitives, was Andrew Silvester.

Having a name did nothing to help Floyd. Having some history on the two entrepreneurs only set their ages. If Sfida was ten years senior to Slygood and Silvester, and from looks of it in his nineties, then the other two were in their eighties. Their children, depending on when theyd had them would be somewhere between forty and sixty. Auther though, appeared to be in his forties. The children were ten when, whatever it was started

But what had happened when Author was ten? Where was his assumed playmate, Jacob, for surely the two would have been friends if the fathers were as chummy as Sfida claimed. For that matter, where was Authors father?

Floyd refocused his attention on the politics. Two men, two families, two chains throughout the region that were indispensable. The Marts and the Centers. The Marts belonged to the Slygoods and the Centers to the Silvesters. Naturally, they would need investors and support. Thats where the Jacksons and the Ulrichs came into play. Edmund Ulrich, the now assassinated president, obviously was controlled by the Silvester family. Together the four families controlled the nations money, health, safety, and supplies.

His head began to hurt when Millicent rearranged his assumptions for him. Slygood owned both major chains now? What happened to the Silvesters stakes in the healthcare industry? Suddenly Author was looking less like a potential ally and more like the twisted fiend that had ran his ship into the ground. Bastard.

And lovely, Mr. Id President But I Dont Want To Be Shot, wanted them to do some errands for him now. Figures. He was afraid of the Slygood family like Edmund had feared the Silvesters. And for good reason. The money bloated Ulrich died for his troubles. At this point it didnt matter which family was responsible for the mans death. His last day on earth had been filled with fear, he remembered his last attempt at a stammering speech before he fell dead on the stage. Puppet or not though, it had been Edmund who had pointed the blame on Floyd, not Andrew.

Floyd would be just as happy to see all four of them dead. Sadly, he would have no choice but to play along, see what else the old man knew, if they could get anything from him at all, and put an end to the two rivals endless lust for power. And what would it get him in the end? Millicent as a President once everyone was snug and safe again? Maybe if he was lucky the other General would clear his name.

If it hadnt been for families like the Jacksons, his people wouldnt be in this mess to begin with. Power hungry greedy bastards The alien was beginning to see the reason behind Jolt and Ariss defection.

Floyd wouldnt wait in the lobby for long. Only so long as it took for someone to open the door so he could slip out behind them unnoticed. It wouldnt do to have them all leave at once in a group. And, he was willing to bet that Jacksons house was also being watched. The whole lot of them heading for Lorenzo meant there was sure to be company waiting.

It was all french to him, and it got worse by the moment. Sitting around someone's deathbead was a decidedly disconcerting thing, especially when you had no clue what any of this was about. Sigh. There were a few people around he knew, Floyd and Steely, Alex and Cerby, but...well. It really didn't seem like the best idea to go and talk with them while they were listening to the fellow.

Nor, apparently, was it necessarily a good idea once they got back out to the lobby. The one thing he HAD gotten out of all the mumbo jumbo was that apparently there were people that controlled EVERYTHING out there...and being here probably made them less than happy.

Sure, supposedly they could leave...but this was conveniently not mentioned until they got here...so it was probably too late at this point, he'd be watched either way. Yeah...

What made it the worst was that he hadn't the slightest clue what all the other veiled references meant. "Curiousity kills the cat..." he quited under his breath, giving Faith a scratch under her chin as he mulled things over for a minute or two.

Well, all he'd gotten so far was a bunch of questions, really. There had been a mention of Giratina somewhere, the mention that both sides of this whatever thought that people here were on their side and not the other...when it was probably not true either way, to judge...he really didn't know what to make of any of the fragments of information presented to him.

However, there wasn't going to be anything he could do at this point without more information. The only way to do that would probably be to talk with someone else who had been there. But from the sounds of it, again, here might not be the best place to start.

Meh. It was all just giving him a headache, at this point. He started to make his way around the room carefully in the general direction of Steely, figuring her to be the person most likely to be talkative, and that he knew better than a single face to face meeting.

Besides that, Floyd was practically radiating Bad Mood to the whole room...and he didn't want to stick his hand into that hornets nest at the moment...he might not like what came of it. "Hey, long time no see..." he commented quietly to Steely as he came nearer, keeping one ear open for anyone else getting close.

Now he could only hope she had been one of those that had been around before, apparently.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present. ~Oogway

Too much stuff happening way too fast here. All Cerb really got was that once again, they were in danger of some grave degree and the walls have ears, that sort of thing. Delphi padded next to her as they left the room, uncharacteristically silent for a bringer of doom. The teen reached down and felt the fluffy white fur, which only looked deceivingly soft. Prickly, needlelike hair met her fingertips, the only outward sign that the Absol was actually upset and just hiding it.

"We're all actually boned no matter what we do, right?" Cerb muttered to Delphi as they walked out into the lobby and looked around. "Just like last time."

Chances are good, but I won't know for a while. The Absol huffed lightly, reaching up with one paw to scratch at the collar around her neck for a moment, making the razor claw jangle against her chest. Cerb had to wonder how the Absol avoided cutting herself on the thing at all. Probably had something to do with her dense coat providing a cushion. Just go find some friends and chill or something.

"'s not hard." Looking around, Cerb could already see several OME members, plus random people she didn't know. After a moment of looking, her eyes finally found Steely, and another familiar tall fellow. Tugging on Delphi's fur to get her to follow, Cerb headed over to add another member to the little grouping. Forget the people who might be watching, there was safety in numbers. "Man this is shit. Hi Ben," she said, looking up at him for a moment before glancing at Steely. "Can we build our bunker on the volcano yet?"

Yuki watched and listened, staying silent all the time. Not only didnt he make a single sound, Kagami was silent as well. This was odd because, normally, the Luxio was far from silent. Usually she growled, snarled and hissed at anyone or anything that came too close. Not this time. It seemed even she understood that this was not the time for such things. This was good. He didnt feel much for being embarrassed in front of all these people because he couldnt keep his own Pokmon under control, especially not at a time like this.

It was hard not to feel out of place here. Yuki couldnt help but watch the other trainers around him. Some were around his level of skill, yes, but most were more experienced. Theyd been at this longer. He couldnt help but feel useless at this sight. All of this it went deep. Way deep. They couldnt even use their Poketechs. These people controlled pretty much everything. Yuki sighed and patted Kagami on the head, who purred softly in response.

Really, he wasnt sure how much help he would be in all of this. He glanced at Kagami. All he really had was a Squirtle, a Luxio and an Elekid. Those werent exactly fearsome. Not to mention that he himself wasnt exactly the strongest or the smartest. Still, he was here and, so far, he hadnt left yet. Really, at this point it was too late to leave.

He crouched down next to Kagami.

All he could really do was wait, for now. Wait until he knew what to do. He looked around a bit more, unsure if he should approach someone. For now he supposed hed just stay quiet. He wasnt sure what he would say, anyway.

Steely smiled at Alex as he walked over, taking his hand when they were walking next to each other and threading their fingers together. "I don't know, really. To be honest, I was confused about everything that happened after Radloff last time. I still don't get what happened..." she trailed off, and shrugged at him. She reached down with her free hand and patted Dynamo, smiling at the Manectric. Puppy!

Aloid was slightly distracted during this, staring at the Chikorita that was staring at him and... grooming herself. The rock titan raised a rocky eyebrow and snorted, twitching his tail and looking back at his charge. Huh, her one friend was standing way too close for him. Time to gently reach down and nudge them apart...

That was when he noticed they were holding hands and by Arceus we can't have that now can we?

Steely must have forgotten or something, because when the snarl rippled from behind them, like a volcano getting ready to erupt, she went pale and jumped, letting go of Alex as if his hand was suddenly on fire. "Aloid!" she whipped around to face him, seeing that he was raising his arms as if he was going to snap Alex right in half.

Seeing that there was no point in reasoning with him, she withdrew the monster before he could do anything. They were nearly to the hospital anyways, and she couldn't take him in. Staring at his Luxury Ball in disbelief, she sighed and minimized it, putting it on her belt.

"I don't understand why they're all so overprotective," she sighed, taking Alex's hand again and going into the hospital.

And then things happened and things were said. Steely didn't understand, but as far as she was concerned, she didn't really need to understand. Someone just had to point or something just had to get in their way, and she would spring into action. That seemed to be the way these things went. Luckily, she had Alex with her as well, and Cerby. If anyone would be able to piece everything together, it'd be those two.

"What do you think?" she whispered over at Alex as she turned her Poketech off and stowed it away.

She looked around then... Kaiz was playing it cool, and another girl went over to try and complete the act. That was good, she figured. Then Ben and Cerby walked over, and she smiled at the two, "Heya Ben. How are you?" she looked at the leafeon, and blinked. Oh, right, his shiny eevee.

Cerb's comment about the bunker made Steely chuckle, though, "At some point we will, yeah," she glanced at the ones grouped by her, Alex, Ben, and Cerby, then looked around again. She spotted Arell, and beckoned her over to the group. That was everyone that she trusted... even if she only trusted Arell a little bit. Arell seemed to like her more then her own teammates did, anyways, which was certainly welcome. Though... she figured Floyd was around, but just hiding. Being an alien, that didn't surprise her at all.

This was going to be their little group for this, it looked like. Same as last time, but with the welcome addition of Ben. She figured they were going to be fine, even if it was going to be a hectic ride.

TL;DR: Nothing interesting happens at all. xD

Ian was surprised how many people had turned up to the pokemon center for the same purpose as he did. Originally he had thought that he had simply walked in on a busy period for the hospital, but as the man who had presumably sent the message to their poketechs urged them further into the hospital. Then there was the speech.

It was rather long but Ian listened patiently and carefully, it was one of his strong suits. He wasn't sure he understood all of it, he had been rather uninterested in politics and money before, and so the names Sylverster and Slygood rang large but indistinct bells in his mind but that was it. When he realized the extent of the power that the man was describing he felt something prickle inside of him. There was no way anyone should have that kind of power. It was a few steps away from tyranny, sneaky, unnoticed tyranny but tyranny none the less. Even now Ian felt a little indignant as the man told them to withdraw their pokemon into their balls, turn off their poktechs and generally become invisible, all because the big bad Slygoods were watching. Ian felt a bit indignant, but the air was to fraught with seriousness to let the threat go by without at least considering it.

"What do you think Nibbs?" Ian asked. The rat looked thoughtful as he stared at the others around him. His keen and battle honed paranoia found itself focusing on some of the shady characters haunting the corners of the room like the smoker and the janitor. Nibbs fur bristled, but he nodded curtly.

He agrees Dalal translated freely.

Ian sighed, but pulled out Nibbs' pokeball, realizing he hadn't put his partner in it since the first time. There was a click of a button and the rat disappeared in red light. Ian held out Lala's pokeball.

I believe I shall be more help acting as your eyes than hiding like some coward in a pokeball, Lala said, pride strong in her psychic voice. She punctuated it with a vocal "Stantler!" and gave a huff.

She did have a point there. She might be useful in observing others behavior when Ian couldn't, and she was the most powerful of the group by far, a point she stressed daily. That left Sasha... where was Sasha? Ian could not track the cat's nearly silent footsteps in the crowd of people, and Lala seemed incapeable of seeing him as well in the dense bodies. Ian reached out and touched the closest person to him, Yuki's, shoulder.

"Excuse me you haven't seen a meowth go by have you?"

The tan little cat weaved through the legs of the crowd like water, his eyes set on one thing. That big hunk of handsome manectric that was walking away from him. The sleek feline licked his lips and purred, honing in on his target, and ruffling his fur up to appear nice and fluffy and soft, excellent to the touch.

"Hello big boy," the cat purred, taking it upon himself to weave affectionately between the dog's legs, "Wanna see how much of a hound dog you are hmm? I'd be happy to volunteer for such a task" Sasha then glanced up to see who the dog's trainer was, eyes falling on Steely rather than Alex, the rightful owner.

Oh, its the Cerberus woman again, Sasha thought rolling his eyes. He gave a huffy little flick of his whiskers at her, staring at her with distaste. "Meowth," it said. Even if Steely didn't understand pokemon the hate filled "WELL what do you want?" was universal.

Prosper stood off to the side in the lobby, waiting, glancing around. Many of the OME had already showed up; most of those faces he recognized, but obviously it wasnt wise to attempt official contact amid such an event. So, he stood alone, watching the others as they ambled in and made various conversations. Many of these trainers were new to him, and it was likely many were fairly recent trainers, as he didnt remember them from the events beginning in Radloff.

Then, there stood the general himself. Prosper remembered having always been impressed by the man; he was large, yes, but that wasnt quite it. Perhaps it would just the authoritative air that surrounded the man, as he just seemed to command authority. Prosper unconsciously moved closer, gathering around closer to the group as they turned and fell quiet. The sad expression just visible on Jacksons heavy features somehow looked wrong.

So, there was a reason they had met at the hospital. Jacksons father how the man fit into the puzzle, Prosper didnt understand. But he followed along as they reached the hospital room and crowded around inside. He cringed just slightly at the sight of the man lying inside, for it seemed as if death would be a welcome relief. But, first, he had a story to pass on. Prosper listened intently, taking in every piece of information and considering the consequences. Could two families really control so much?

His mind raced ahead, wondering how many aspects of his daily life were carefully controlled by these people. Centers, Pokemarts, banks, even hospitals all controlled and funded by these powerful families, people apparently with an agenda. These desires reached a breaking point during the events at Radloff, but how they all played together still eluded him. Was it simply Giratinas power they were after?

The mission was set, and apparently they were headed for Lorenzo. Prosper piled back into the elevator with the others, riding down while his thoughts clouded over with too many conflicting ideas. The group clambered out, and Prosper moved off to the side, thinking for another minute before suddenly sensing the tense air. It was different down here; people had moved, and now remained just a few select stragglers.

His gaze flickering over them, Prosper noticed a janitor, who seemed to stand out to him. Hadnt Jackson just mentioned that five janitors, all belonging to the Slygood group, had been hired as eyes and ears? The cautious silence no doubt meant he, and perhaps a few others, were listening in. But what was there he could do? Attacking the man, along with the others, was only going to drawn more unnecessary attention. No, they would have to make the first move.

Souji was a little baffled about everything he had just heard. He wasn't sure if he should really be a part of it or not, but it was too late now. As he walked through the hallways and into the lobby area, he noticed some people staring at him. Could they have been the people that he had warned everyone about?

"Man...what to do..." Souji said to himself softly. He was going back and forth in his head whether to stay with the other trainers around him and help, or just leave and forget that he had heard anything. He came to the conclusion that even if he WERE to leave, these people would more than likely keep their eyes on him and follow him to make sure he kept quiet.

He found a seat amongst the others who had also left with him. Sticking together would probably be their best bet, and Souji didn't really want to do this alone anyway. As he glanced around, he realized, he didn't know a single person that was there and wondered if maybe, after this was all over and done with, someone knew something that would help him find out more on his father's whereabouts.

"Alright," Souji affirmed himself and confidence in his eyes, "This is a mere stepping-stone to my journey. I'll find him..." he said quietly.

Jared was clueless as to what the hell's going on around here, so he just followed everybody straight into the hospital room. It belonged to an old man that appears to be this guy's father. This old man, who appears to go by the name Sfdia Jackson, looked almost as if he was dead. Jared was repulsed at the sight, and backed all the way to the wall, behind the group. Auraiso had a difficult time weaving his way through the legs, but he made it to where Jared was. He gave the boy a reproachful look for leaving him behind.

Jared looked sheepishly at his trusty croc, and murmured an apology as he gathered Auraiso in his arms. The croc contented himself to just munching on Jared's metal armguard. The boy silently listened to the story that was told by old man Jackson. It did not take much for him to break down in tears, and Jared felt a pang of sympathy for him. He wished he could do anything to calm the old man down.

The guy who had greeted them, Millicent, ushered them out of the room to explain things further. Jared listened with no interest whatsoever. He was in it purely for the adventure.

He paid no attention to the smoker nor to the security guard.

Minimal swipes aside, the consensus of your expeditiously assembled faction was to sit around and wait, leave the small group of interlopers to their business. And who could blame you? It was natural leave well enough alone, and these four had done no harm to you. So, against the warnings of Jackson, you ignored them. Normal behavior, but normal behavior could become very dangerous.

In the silent lobby, you heard the familiar ding of the approaching elevator. A pneumatic swish, a weary sign, and the sound of boots scuffing the floor. Jackson turned the corner, and his eyes immediately widened. The four had moved so quickly. Inside, the receptionist and the janitor pulled Pokeballs. Two massive Garchomp surrounded Jackson, as well as those two assailants. Outside, the smoker and the cop pulled Arcanine. One entrance was blocked, and it was easy to assume the others would be too. Jackson was trapped.

"Alright Jackson, just come with us and there'll be no trouble," said one through gritted teeth. A Garchomp growled. It's eyes were streaked with red, and it looked crazed. You couldn't be sure what had been done to this Pokemon, but it was ready to break at any moment, and that could end up with Jackson breaking. These attackers didn't seem to have too much control over these aggravated Pokemon.

"There's a lot of bystanders around here... I'm sure you wouldn't want to see them hurt, would you? You're a nice guy, come on now," muttered the other. He circled behind Jackson, in his hand, something shining and black. It cocked. "Easy, now..."

Outside, the smoker and the cop were attempting to clear out those who had ventured outdoors.

"Come on, all of you move!" shouted the cop, waving everyone away. The Arcanine barked, an angry but injured sound that hurt the ears. It looked crazed, like it could snap at any minute, probably snapping something of yours with it. The two attackers didn't seem very in control of them either.

"Get the fuck out, you heard him!" interjected the smoker, shoving whoever happened to be moving the slowest. Another Arcanine gnashed its teeth, showering the entrance area with burning cinders.

Alright, here's how we're doing health. Take your Pokemon's level, and add a 0. No levels, just health. You won't have many healing opportunities, so this should compensate. Remember, you only have three. You guys can go at this situation however you want. Jackson's cornered, and they're treating you like innocent bystanders, but trying to shepherd you away. It's up to you.

While the guard and the smoker remained unresponsive for the moment, two girls approached Kaizanu. One spoke of things being okay and the other commented on other things. "Everything... will all be fine," she said, eying the security guard and smoker. Suddenly, they both released arcanines, pokemon of a legendary caliber. Inside, things didn't seem better, but she couldn't tell what exactly was happening. Instead, she focused on the pokemon outside.

With two on her side as well, Kaizanu quickly pulled a pokeball from her belt. Throwing the pokeball towards the smoker, a white feraligatr appeared. Roaring her protest at the scent, Akita immediately looked behind her, seeing her trainer issuing a command. "Put down that arcanine!" Kaizanu said. Suddenly, she felt a blaze of fire warming her side. Looking up, the entrance of the hospital was burning. With no other water pokemon in her possession, Kaizanu whistled to Akita.

Akita, meanwhile, went forth to do as she was commanded. With eyes narrowed, her tail encased in water, she swung her weight and strength. Slamming, hopefully, the smoker's arcanine, Akita prepared to maul the trainer as well. Those who opposed her trainer in such a disgusting manner-- ! "FERALIGATR!" she roared, stopping once she heard a whistle. Turning she saw Kaizanu backing away from the building - burning. Immediately, she left behind the other arcanine, coming upon the security guard's.

With not enough speed to go forth, Akita inhaled deeply, before exploding with a torrent of water. Sweeping her head, the building was first doused to avoid bringing too much damage to it - after all, there were too many people inside to let it freely burn. Following up, the feraligatr aimed at the arcanine, prepared to push the fire dog back. As much as Kaizanu loved her own arcanine, Ruin, she would not stand for these thugs trying to herd her away. She was not a mareep!

Pulling a gun, holstered next to her side, Kaizanu took aim at the Security Guard, Akita standing at her back to keep her covered. "Identify yourself, or you will end up inside there in about five seconds!" Kaizanu said. Finger on the trigger, her stance was wide to avoid being toppled, her aim was the dead center of the security guard's chest. "And you!" She meant the Smoker as she pulled a second gun.

She trained her aim on him and said, "What is the big idea, trying to burn down the hospital?" Kaizanu feigned ignorance, but she realized their target was Millicent. As an officer dedicated to the government, even if she didn't like it, Kaizanu had to protect the president-elect. Shifting her eye towards the hospital, she wondered what the others had to fight. These men wouldn't be so stupid to only have two men posted on the outside.

It was normal for Jared and Auraiso to pay no heed to their surroundings, though Auraiso is more attentive than Jared was.

When the elevator dinged from somewhere and the two assailants showed themselves, Auraiso growled deeply at them, drawing a reaction from the boy holding him. Jared immediately took in the sight of the two Arcanine advancing on the group. Instinctively, his hand went to his Pokemon belt, took out a Pokeball, and dropped it to the ground. Draken appeared in a burst of white light. "Gib gib!" Jared recovered from his momentary laspe, and thought rapidly. If these attackers wanted the group out, then the old man might be in danger! There's a possibility that he's being attacked!

The boy set down Auraiso, and took out Rono's Pokeball into his hand. "Draken, I want you to help out in taking care of these attackers. Can I trust you to act on your own?" The Gible looked undecided for a moment, then nodded hesitantly. "Good. First of all, I want you to keep those Arcanine away while I dash into the building. Use Earth Power on them to keep them at bay." Draken nodded, then faced the two canines. He thrust out his stubby arms at the one closest to the entrance, and his body glowed a deep yellow. The ground beneath the Arcanine glowed through through the cracks, then erupted upwards in an earthen fury. He did the same to the other one.

While Draken was keeping the Arcanine distracted thus, Jared called out to the croc at his side. "Com'on Auraiso, let's go." The Totodile nodded, and the two sprinted up to where Jackson was surrounded by the attackers, Jared's metal armguard glinting in the light. He cared not that he was running carelessly into danger, the only thing in his mind is to protect Jackson.

When he burst into the scene, it took a few seconds for the boy to take in the surroundings before he acted. He hoped that his appearance startled them, giving him time to give out orders. He tossed out Rono's Pokeball straight towards Jackson. "Rono, use your Protect, and hold it for as long as you can!" The Aron appeared in a burst of white light. When he got to Jackson, he immediately raised up a barrier that cannot be bypassed by normal means.

When that was done, Jared pointed at one of the Garchomp. "Auraiso, use your Ice Fang on that one! I'll defend myself, so give that one your all!" Auraiso nodded, then leapt towards the Garchomp closest to Jared, and clamped down his fangs on it's legs. Ice formed around his teeth and spread to the land shark's leg, hopefully immobilizing it from action.

Meanwhile, Jared raised his arm with the metal armguard protectively in front of him. If he got attacked, he would try to redirect the attack with said armguard.

It took a rough shove from the smoker, followed by the presence of a white feraligatr, to snap her out of her stupor and give her the jolt of adrenaline needed to react. As the woman nearby her sent out the strangely-coloured water type after one arcanine, Celeste hopped backward away from the smoker and his crazed pokemon, grasping a pokeball and hurling it forward.

"Take 'em down, Affy!" Aphrodite, her strongest pokemon, materilized in a flash of red light. The buneary, admittedly, was not a very threatening creature, standing barely over a foot tall with soft, fluffy fur and big, round eyes. However, she was a fighter, through and through, and she took on a fighting stance in determined silence. "The gator's on our side. Dizzy Punch, fast!"

Star bursting from her tiny fist, Aphrodite took off like a rocket. Their ally had one taken care of, so the buneary blazed after the other one, ready to leap into the air and land a punch straight in the centre of the arcanine's face with all the force she could muster, then get out of the way in case there was another attack coming that way.

Meanwhile, Celeste grabbed another pokeball and let loose her second combatant, Hunter appearing in mid-air in front of her. The chatot let out a predatory shriek that belonged to a bird much larger and more fearsome and hovered in the air in front of his trainer. The parrot wasn't as intimidating as a gun, but it was protection, and he knew what to do should anyone not on her side be stupid enough to approach them.

There was more shouting, a young boy's, and the ground began to tremble. She barely registered the boy running past, too focused on her own situation and the overwhelming reality of the fact that someone could die here, and it could very well be her.

She gave a sidelong glance to the woman with the guns, her breath coming in gasps as she waited for Aphrodite to return to provide extra defense. Just let her handle it, Celeste. Just don't panic and do something stupid like the civilians in the movies. Even if they pull guns, don't panic.

Mystery layered with more mystery. The explanation offered by Millicent and his dying predecessor did very little to soothe the unease of ignorance to what she sensed was a situation monumentally dire. All she could get out from the cryptic passages were the usual stories of greed and power- of mans ambitions to bite more than he could swallow, of the blind leading the blind, the domino collapse of one superpower after another to fuel the ultimate avarice that dared reached its sinewy talons at the highest possible force obtainable. She couldnt help the derisive chuckle escaping her lips. The same old tragedy. Albeit one she now found herself very involved with. Ironic isnt it how one would find themselves at this point after spending most of their life avoiding the tangle of lies society bound around themselves, though perhaps fitting that she would. After all, unlike most, she was one of the outsiders- those migrating from another plane entirely, without history or past to tie them to any information this all-encompassing Slygood Group could possibly retrieve.

Nothing to hold her backsave her Pokemon.

She took the back of the group, per usual. Another face, unrecognizable; a shadow of her former glory only very few had once appreciated. It was better that way, under the comfort of anonymity, with no one to watch or be watched, track or be tracked. Her newfound solitude, once an aching hindrance, had become her greatest defense. She decided staying close to the president would benefit better than feign idle complacency as the others had shoddily done. A lot of youngsters, a lot of impatient action-seekers- the usual fodder. If the sheer amount of random trainers who obviously had nothing to do with one another, grouped tightly together in one place hadnt already tipped off spying eyes, then the answer was clear on the faces of the inexperienced. It would have happened, either way, that much she learned. The unexpected was also unavoidable.

Everything remained too at ease. Not the groupthe place in general. The usual buzz that was usually present had died to little more than hushed murmurs. The usual staff present continued on as normal, as if the people gathered werent strange enough to raise suspicions. Security remained lax, people moved per usual, and lest one be accused of paranoia, none could have associated this commonplace behavior to any subversive intent. At least until the ding of elevator doors rang the arrival of the first act.

Both trainer and Pokemon tensed, the familiar current of desperation filling the air with the rapid steps of hidden assailants. Emerald eyes met the sharp pink ones, sharing a quick understand of what needed to be done, and the latter slunk away quietly while the girl held still, explosions of light heralding the arrival of two massive draconic beasts. Garchomp, she recognized, if only due to her interest in dragon Pokemon, and discovering the new breed that dwelt here. Land sharks of formidable strength exceeding even Hiryus capabilities- possibly Endymions as well- poised and aiming their death-dealing sights at the helpless president. The meaningful manner one of the men held a sleek, flashing object towards the president immediately alerted the keen-eyed cat ferret. To his credit, if anything else, Xan was a thoroughly trained Police Pokemon, and that old training kicked it, recognizing the familiar thread presented and moving like crimson-tinged lighting to the source. Jemilie let a Pokeball fly into the ensuing confusion, releasing the cloud-like Altaria in their midst, as well as an obscuring cloud of mist, shadowing distant forms and the very valuable, very vulnerable president.

What a brilliant surprise, to exit the toilet and find that the party has started. With Jackson's all-so-functional plan she hadn't expected the assailants to move this fast, or that they were actually brandishing out Pokemon of such stature. Perhaps agreeing to help Jackson had been a wrong decision right from the start - she had no power, little stealth, and too many questions to actually be of much help to any of them. It didn't seem like the hold-up was going to work effectively from the start, though - there were, what, 15 of them and 4 opposition? Not to mention that some of these were elites of the OME, and they were probably touting impressively powerful Pokemon. Less action, more work. Time for Pokemon to work their muscles.

Hey, if a bunch of newbies could down a Geneticore, surely she could be of some use here?

Before she summoned her Pokemon, however, it was clear that the Arcanine would be doused with a torrent of water or two from that ferocious and oddly colored Feraligatr. The Garchomp, on the other hand, seemed to be more aggressive and dangerous. Not to mention that less people were targeting the Garchomp since most had already made their way out. And she was closer to the Garchomp, in any case. Athena could probably do much more against the Garchomp as compared to the Arcanine - flames were dangerous to plants-

Will she stop talking and start with the action!?

Ok, unspoken rules of the battle. Poisonpowder would only kill the living and accelerate the dying's dying. No Earthquake, no Surf, none of those ridiculously huge battle moves that would take the entire hospital down with the assailants. Yet another reason to finish Garchomp off first - they probably had some ground moves in their arsenal. In retrospective, though, Bayleef's most effective strategy was practically nullified. No more poisoning and stalling.

'Ok, Athena. No Poisonpowder. Set up a Reflect to reduce the potency of the Garchomps' moves, then send leaves flying at them. Razor-sharp, high-critical-rate leaves.'

The Bayleef nodded quickly, before summoning what seemed to be a psychic shield of sorts, separating the group from those Garchomps. Reflect was a long-term investment, though it was likely that they would finish off these Pokemon in one turn if everyone were to attack together. Prevention is better than cure, though. Or so they say. Cirrus, on the other hand, was getting impatient. There was little space to move around, though, so he'll have to make do with what he has.

'Cirrus, Double Team and Wing Attack.'

With no second word, the bird was off. Diana, on the other hand, could totally read her trainer's mind. Being the pesky, silent Meowth that she was, she could easily sneak unnoticed (hopefully) to the receptionist and the janitor, both of whom would definitely have more up their sleeves, or on their belts. She'll just pick her favorite of the two and irritate the living hell out of her. And unluckily, the receptionist was the pick.

Honestly, though. More firepower was needed for the Garchomp. Firepower like Akita.

Now, Sasha's attention was immediately drawn to the two big manly pokemon that were released on either side of the big important human. Now, they may have been fine specimins, but Sasha was not into fish, he prefered eating them, and they immediately registered as "BAD GUYS" to his finely tuned pokemon senses. He shot Steely another heated look, but that apparently did not slow his attack down one bit. But another tan cat flashed in front of his vision!

It was another meowth butting in on his battle! How dare SHE!?! Sasha was even more annoyed that it was a female that was literally trying to beat him to the punch. She hadn't even attacked a pokemon how ignorant! Well, he would show her who was the better cat was he soared through the air at the garchomp. He made it look like a punch, but at the last second pulled back and gave the garchomp a mighty kick with his claws outstretched, a perfectly executed fake out.

Sasha fell to the ground like feline grace, elegantly landing on his feet and giving a quick turnabout. His eyes flashed with malicious intent and a bit of dark energy as his vindictive little mind came up with his preferred plan of action. He would make sure that his next attack would hit the garchomp where it hurt, aiming for the precise spot that his kick had landed before, weakening its defenses.

"Mrowwrrrr!" Sasha growled as he leaped into action once again.

For a split second Ian was lost. There was a flurry of action and he heard pokemon being released, his mind instinctively leaped to Nibbs, who he considered his closest defender, but the mouse was tucked away in his pokebal. Ian's hand dashed to his belt and it was less than a second until the tan rodent appeared in a flash of light. Ian didn't even have orders out of his mouth before Nibbs dashed into the action with a mighty screech of intent. The rodent had been born and raised during the pokerus outbreak and had become at ease with the violence that was required for survival. He needed no commands to set his claws in motion. He immediately assesed the threat as being a much higher level than him, and so fell back on the one move that made all pokemon cringe a universal amount.

His fangs glowed with white energy as he streaked towards the closest mighty land shark.

Ian on the other hand, had figured out roughly what was going on from the various outbursts and mostly by what the villains were saying, well ordering. They had the president, that much was certain, and Ian knew it was vital to get the man free. He wasn't exactly positive the pokemon were the ones capturing the president, but he was certain enough not to fell bad about engaging them, but he would do it as peacefully as possible. "Lala use hypnosis on whoever or whatever is threatening the president, we can't have them hurting him," Ian said to Lala calmly as she stood beside him. She paused only a brief second to relay a description of what was happening to Ian before going into motion. She was not so physical as the others, her eyes began to glow and she began swirling her horns through the air, directing her attention first one garchomp then the other. The horns did their work as reality subtlety shifted and her psychic command to sleep was beamed into the garchomps' minds.

Floyd [Camo Suit 7/10]

One moment, the lobby was quiet, too quiet. People spoke in hushed whispers. The odd people positioned strategically within and without the hospital were strangely still. Floyd stayed put, planted firmly in place and holding his disguise as an ordinary wall, he watched Kaiz leave, unable to follow closely enough behind to slip through the door. He waited apart from everyone else, not wanting to risk bumping into them and having them wonder what he was.

Then the elevator doors slid open and the previously motionless figures sprang into action. In a matter of moments four angry pokemon and four bossy humans were trying to apprehend Jackson and usher everyone else outside. Of course, these were no ordinary bystanders that stood around in the lobby. They were easily pissed off OME members and pokemon trainers who knew how to fight back. And fight back they did. Suddenly there were more pokemon hissing and spitting, clawing and gnashing than people, and the invisible alien found it necessary to flatten himself against the wall to avoid the exchange of fire.

Not being part of the main group, the invisible alien had the opportunity to sight a target and take in the situation. He un-holstered his 45, the one with the silencer and scope and then took a bead on the human growling threats at his potential boss. In the cross hairs of the scope, he found the other weapon with its muzzle aimed threateningly at Jackson. Floyd waited for a clear shot, which wasnt easy given the number of people and pokemon now involved, and then fired aiming to sharp shoot the others gun out of the fiends hand.

[Not adding to the pokemon Chaos, but Ivisi-Floyd is using the silenced .45 to try and shoot the gunmans gunhand.]

Leaning uneasily against the closest chair to him, Prosper glanced around the room with what he assumed was a bored look, merely a ploy in this game of attempting to remain unanimous. Of course, with the lobby and part of the surrounding building so crowded with this group, it was obvious they were not merely all together by chance. They had come down in the elevator together, fanning out to the four corners as they waited for Jackson. Any idiot could have seen that they were a unit, a haphazard group drawn together by some outside force. But unto what purpose?

It took the ding of an elevator for the deafening quiet to suddenly be pierced by the growl of Pokemon and threatened shouts of the hospital personnel. Prosper's eyes sweeped the room, taking in the other trainers as they immediately set to work, tossing out their various Pokeballs and screaming orders to their creatures. Prosper waited a few seconds, honoring the sound advice from his military involvement that a few seconds of observation could very well save his life.

A receptionist and a janitor on the inside. One of them had pulled a gun, but it looked as if several others were already on the move to disarm him. Taking in the outside, Prosper noticed the Arcanine, but again, a few people out there were taking the initiative, threatening the men while simultaneously attacking their Pokemon. Everything checked out. All that was left to do was ensure the opposition was wiped out before something tragic occurred. Prosper first lifted his pistol from its hidden location in his pack, cocking it silently and holding it carefully to his side, unwilling to bring into view unless circumstances required it. The other drifted over his belt, snaking three Pokeballs from their clips and dropping them to the floor.

"Get 'em," he muttered shortly, motioning to the Garchomp inside the building. It would be unwise to go for the Arcanine; his team's weaknesses against them would only prove to be a handicap. The Pokemon chose to attack from afar, hoping to keep their strength up this early in the game. Shimmering leaves were doled out in waves from Leaf as he tossed them across the room, allowing them to scissor through his chosen dragon. Xyla called up a Tailwind, increasing her partners' speed as she simultaneously attacked the Garchomp's mind, pin-pricking any weakness she could find. Ryuu, disredgaring the caution of his teammates, briefly beefed up with Swords Dance before darting in, lashing out with his heavy pincers for a swiping Slash.

Ben cocked his head to the side. Hm. Boyfriend. Not saying much tho...but there was someone already with Steely. Cerby had mentioned a boyfriend, though, and so it was likely that it was them.

And then, speaking of Cerby, there was a Cerby too. Nice. He grinned in her general direction, or at least, at a point that looked to be only a little above her head, and nodded to Arell as she was waved over, too. "Ben Summers," he commented, simply, to introduce himself.

This left the boyfriend, who was naggingly familiar, but he couldn't immediately place because he was playing the tall, strong and silent role, apparently. Still, the tall was what finally made the jigsaw take shape. There was only one person he was aware of that was actually significantly taller than him, rather than around his height or shorter. "Alex?" he guessed, after a moment or two.

Still, that didn't get him anywhere in figuring stuff out. Cocking his head to the side, listening to the other feet shuffling around the room, he made sure that nobody else was too close in general, lowering his voice to a very quiet undertone. "So...do any of you know more about what..."

He didn't get any further, as about then, the elevator door dinged open, and Jackson came out. There was a flurry of movement, and suddenly there were two dragons, and people attempting to shoo them out of here.

Surprise, surprise. Faith shifted with a squeak of alarm, but a soft, "Shhhh..." from him quelled her and she settled back onto his shoulders uneasily.

Still, all the people around here were already reacting, unsurprisingly, to the threats, with rather massive force. His hands had been shoved into his pockets as the shouting and stuff began, but they remained there as he listened carefully, attempting to sort things out. There was crackling and the acrid scent of smoking plastic and other things from the door area, indicating that someone had probably lit a fire there, for whatever reason.

Keep people from escaping probably. There was also the two dragons, and two people in here. He remained still, near the back, looking oddly unconcerned as he looked neither toward the smoking entryway, nor the commotion near the elevator.

His hands remained in his pockets, though, ready to act if need be. However...he wasn't about to reveal his hand unless he needed to. As of yet, he was a pretty unknown quantity, and the longer he could keep it that way, the happier he'd be...

Still, if needed, those hands were closed about a pair of pokeballs, ready to release one or the other, dependent on what the results seem to be of this explosion of action.

If the garchomps managed to survive all that, or the two in the lobby made more threats, there would soon be a Lucario on the field, ready to take out whatever remained, pulses of purple energy aimed at surviving dragons, or blinding speed to clothesline any standing humans.

If things looked to be going horribly wrong, on the other hand...the other pokemon would come into play. Fire or no, Jax was immune, and at the speeds she could reach, they wouldn't be in it long enough to matter. He'd grab someone and bring them along for the ride if they were close enough, seemed to not have anything of the get the heck out of dodge variety on them and didn't fight the idea.

Steely and Alex could handle themselves, however. Still, he doubted that things would go THAT far south...but he wasn't going to not plan for other contingincies.

Eventually, a familiar mini-group formed. Along with Steely, Alex met up with Cerby, then Ben, and he recognised Arell from the last Mystery Adventure Time. Some hellos, some sniffing around from Dynamo (what was that crazy Meowth doing?), and the horrible realisation that Aloid was angry at him later, and the scene picked up inside the hospital.

There was probably some introspection going on in Alex's head about the whole Slygood vs. Sylvester deal and Giratina, but his tendency to tune out his surroundings at random times meant that he wasn't paying much attention. It wasn't until the undercover Slygood operatives sprung up and came after Jackson that Alex snapped back to reality.

Garchomps. Lots of attacking. Trouble outside the hospital as well. Thanks, Guru.

The quicker-reacting trainers all seemed to have a good handle on the situation, so Alex did what Ben was doing and hung back. Dynamo was recalled, and replaced with Sturz. Just in case.

Also like Ben, Alex had a contingency plan if things went south. Namely, clamp onto Guru and run away. Maybe take a trainer or two with them.

Unfortunately, unlike Ben and Alex, Steely wasn't quite the type to hang back. If their problems were just inside the hospital, she might have, but she noticed that there were more people inside attacking the Garchomps, then outside with what looked like a pair of Arcanines. Kaiz looked like she could use a hand.

"Go get 'em, Aloid," she said quietly, pitching the Tyranitar's Pokeball in an underhanded throw outside the center where the others looked like they could use a hand.

The ball bounced a bit past everyone before breaking open to release the monster, who bellowed angrily. He was thinking something else, but seeing the two Arcanine's sent him made him change targets, and rush at them, stone edging his tail to bash any that might still be standing by the time he got out there. He also moved to try and put himself between the good guys and the bad guys, to keep the people he thought were good safe... without obscuring Kaiz's line of sight to fire, at least. Hey, he was trying anyways.

That left Steely inside with the others, where Jackson was being Protected by a little Aron and the Garchomps were being attacked all over the place. Couldn't hurt to add a bit more insurance, if it was needed.

Though, she kept Pyre in his ball, for now. The flame tailed lizard might light something on fire and she didn't want that. The floating, bulletproof beast of a Metagross did appear, though, and his four super brains took in the situation in a millisecond, and he positioned himself right where he was needed: Helping Rono to defend Jackson from any bullets. Granted, he didn't know protect... but he was still basically a giant metal shield. Bullets wouldn't hurt him too badly, if at all.

Then there was that... tricky little thing where he could teleport. Armed with four brains and being basically a giant, psychic supercomputer... if things got out of hand, Jackson would be safe.

Yuki was a bit surprised when a boy came over to talk to him, asking him about a Meowth. He was about to answer, but the sudden flurry of actions interrupted him. Before he knew it, he was standing outside. He blinked a bit. He mustve been a bit dazed when he walked outside. Still, there were other things to worry about for now. Like those two Arcanine. They werent actively trying to hurt them for now, but they were trying to keep them outside. They were hostile enough for Yuki. Still, he felt sort of stupid for not realizing those suspicious people had been, well suspicious. It had been pretty obvious, really.

Instinctively, he reached for one of his pokballs. Kagami was already out, so that was okay, but Shelley would be more helpful against fire types. For a second, he froze, unsure if this was the best thing to do. These men could be very dangerous, after all. On the other hand, other people were fighting too. He shook his head and threw Shelleys pokball. In a flash, the Squirtle appeared.

Shelley, I think you know what to do? The turtle nodded, charging up an attack. It wasnt much she could do, of course. She was only a Squirtle. Still, every little bit helped. Yuki turned to Kagami, whod already jumped into a fighting position. Kagami, get ready to charge up.

Kagami nodded at this, baring her teeth at the two dogs and their trainers. Maybe Yuki could be at least a small help.

Inside, things quickly went to hell. And those few moments in which the two assailants, those disguised as the receptionist and a janitor, weren't sure who your group was, you sprang into action. All manner of moves were made, most before the two attackers even noticed your first move. The one described as the receptionist, standing behind Jackson, gun in his back, was suddenly smacked. Stumbling, he looked around in confusion, while his partner was disarmed by a speeding Zangoose. A gunshot rang out, and the receptionist screamed. (Tad and Mav get +.5 :gexp for disarming the attackers)

Now, the Garchomp, seeing their two 'trainers' fall to the ground (one knocked there by a Zangoose, and the other with a broken, bloodied hand), were under orders to attack everyone, namely Jackson. And since they were already facing him, that they did. They lurched onto him, teeth bared, claws slicing at the air... and that was as far as they got. Mouths chomped at only some invisible barrier, claws gnashed at whatever was holding them back. Someone had just saved their leader. (+.5 :gexp to DF for the save)

Now clear that they weren't going to reach Jackson, they turned to the rest of you, the aggressors against their trainers. They didn't get far. A shrouding mist rolled in. Turning, they got a blast of Hypnosis, and as they fell to sleep, they were pounced on by all manner of creatures, from the smallest Ratatta to a massive Meganium. Your group made short work of these two attackers. (+.5 :exp to all Pokemon involved)

Now reunited with Jackson, you left one Slygood agent laid snoozing, and the other moaning over their mangled hand. With just a shimmer, all of you appeared outside.

Meanwhile, things in the entranceway had taken on quite the different feel. When the smoker and the cop tried to herd away those who had taken to the outside, one ostentatious OME member refused to go quietly. Staring down two hulking Arcanine and hanguns, she pulled her own, holding them aloft on both Slygood members. They looked uncomfortably at one another. No one had told them about a gun-toting crazy lady, they were supposed to be removing some bystanders. They of course raised their guns as well, but instead of that uncertainty there was a smirk on both their faces.

There was the sound of a third gun cocking, and the rash young lady felt the cold steel barrel rest against the back of her head.

The moment was tense, even her Pokemon dared not make a move to attack the Arcanine, lest they set off the towering man holding his own gun to her head. "Checkmate, madam. Put them down," advised the gruff voice.

A soft, tinkling song filled the next moment of uncomfortable silence. The smoker yawned. Then, all three fell to the ground, snoozing. Then, twin Aqua Tails, by the massive Feraligatr and the diminutive turtle smashed the Arcanine. Jets of water were exchanged, a towering Tyranitar unleashed a blast of stone, and some electric zaps were loosed here and there. You were lucky, but this first scrape passed with no harm to you or your Pokemon. The Arcanine lay defeated. (1 :exp to all Pokemon involved, since there were less of you out here)

Pop!

Jackson and the others appeared. "Everyone all right?" he asked, nervously. "We... we should get going."

And, really, what else was there to say? Your group departed. Out on the shore, a large ferry awaited.

The next post in Lorenzo will be up shortly. Feel free to chat or post your final thoughts or questions in this thread, if you want to talk amongst yourselves on the boat do it here too.

A flurry of activity, a shriek from the receptionist, and a mass of pokemon burying the two Garchomps. As he had figured, there wasn't really a need to add to it, as everyone had covered everything.

The only really confusing bit was how he had suddenly ended up outside. Faith squeaked on his shoulders, looking around wildly, but clung there for the moment, not wanting to cause any more trouble.

There wasn't much time, it seemed, and they needed to hurry. Apparently this Jackson fellow had quite a few connections, as they had a ferry waiting, even. Once aboard the boat, however, seemed like it was going to be the next opportunity to hopefully get an answer or two about things. As such, he turned to the small group of people that he had allied himself with, so to speak, however many that was, exactly.

Steely and Alex for sure, anyhow. "Either or both of you know more and care to clue me in about all this talk about Giratina and another experience with these people he's talking about, by any chance?" he asked quietly, hopefully, scratching under Faith's chin as he held carefully onto the railing with the other hand.

He kept an ear out for anyone else, listening to the others talk quietly amongst themselves, or just shift from time to time as they waited in silence, trying to get a mental tally of how many people were present, exactly.

Time was of the essence and luckily, speed was the name of her game. The few precious seconds lost could never be recovered, as the life that couldve been lost along with it. Xan, however, proved his worth as a top professional in his area, deftly taking out the gunman before a shot could be fired. His compatriot- one she feared was armed as well that Xan might not get to in time, had suddenly crumpled on his own, clutching his bleeding hand in agony. Xan definitely hadnt done that, and amongst the Pokemon released in the split second the agents had made themselves known, she hadnt seen one that actually made an attack on him. Attentions were drawn every which way, however, taking in one danger to the next- from the disabled gunmen to the two enraged dragons they commandeered, apt to throw themselves in a frenzy if the crazed expressions on their faces were any indication. Whatever conditions these creatures were subjected to drew Jemilies instant dislike for Slygood or whatever the group called themselves. Auras mist dampened the dragons movements, allowing the rest to set their attacks before either could lay claw or fang on anyone.

And then they were gone. The scenery changed, suddenly on the outside of the building, the familiar psychic pull displacing the trainers and Pokemon from one location to another. Psychics, she muttered with disgust, glancing around. Apparently the ones outside had been ambushed as well, but had a handle on things. So they were getting bolder, deciding that it was time to end the waiting game now that Jackson finally got decent muscle to keep him from their clutches.

Exciting, innit, she murmured to her fluffy white companion, pulling over to her feet. Without a seconds delay, they were being ushered into the mans ferry, full speed straight to the mans house, and the supposed answers that awaited them there.

ain't no new thing
One of the children scowled, sitting back in the hand-carved wooden chairs. His plan, foiled. In the other's eyes was a devious glint, his own retaliatory schemes already being set-up.

It wasn't pretty, and it didn't come smoothly, but in hand were the only three items of any possible sentimental value in Sfida's old office. Another uncomfortably cramped van-ride taxied you to the waiting ferry, thankfully undisturbed, sitting untouched in the waters. In the interest of spending no more time than was absolutely necessary in one place, and the omnipresent chance that you had been followed, the van was driven right onto it and sailed away towards Ashdell.

It was assumed that you all split into your cliques and groups, chatting away the jaunt across the ocean. Maybe someones eyes wandered or was left out, but it was noticed that Jackson had drifted off to the edge of the ship. His head hung low and his eyes were closed, deep in contemplation. Times in Opaddeka for the young trainers were often lighthearted, even in the face of annihilation it was all superficial. But here now was a man carrying the weight of the region on his shoulders. He was the president, but no one knew that. He was fighting an enemy so pervasive as to be invisible to the general populous. And how must he do it? By breaking into his own home, a place full of cherished memories. There, he stole from the clearly-raided house, barely escaping with his life while much of it was damaged. All to pry some memories from his dying father.

No kindhearted soul would have the chance to reassure or console him, though. He picked his head up as land broke the horizon, looked around, and then called the gatherings into one.

"It's safe to assume Slygood is ingrained at the hospital by now. We can't delay at all, we can't sit for a day and see if there's a way to get to my father without drawing attention to ourselves. And in our short history, we don't seem capable of it at this point. We're just going to have to go in and move fast. The elevator isn't far from the lobby. Anyone with paralyzing or sleeping Pokemon should have them out. Tranq guns, all that. We can fill the room from outside and then run through," he spoke, voice very pervaded with the knowledge that this was the only option available. "I assume we all have gasmasks of some sort? Any tightly-knit cloth should do for short exposure, masks can probably be grabbed at any closet and they're littered through the place."

He tossed a glare to the shore. They were approaching quickly.

"We get in, we get out. I've... said my goodbyes. My father knows the situation. He told me he has respect within Slygood, I guess it makes sense. He's one of the founding members, after all. He said he'd be fine... he'll be fine. This will probably be the last time I see him, and this is what he wanted. I know most of you don't care, but if anyone is inspired to push a little harder, it might help cover all of our backs.

"We can regroup in the elevator."

You grouped in the entranceway, the place of battle and escape not so long ago. This time, when entering, you knew you couldn't rely on being unrecognized by Slygood grunts. So, you kept to the concrete walls. It was early morning, and darkness aided your maneuvering. Those with tranq guns peppered the few bystanders there, who slumped over and fell to the ground. Whether they were friend or foe, there was no time to sit around and figure out.

Floor-to-ceiling windows faced into the lobby. Though more visitors and janitors and receptionists had replaced the others, the bloodstain remained and the windows were still undusted from what was kicked up during your confrontation. Jackson, leading the group, thrust a fist into it, and it shattered. Electric, bug, grass, all the wonderful paralyzing and sleep-inducing types, they jumped through and filled the room while the rest of you covered your mouths. In after them you went, a room filled with disabled people quickly crossed. You crammed into an elevator.

"Same thing," said Jackson. The doors slid open, and the previous tactics were lathered, rinsed, and repeated. Down the hall you all charged, and into Sfida's room. A TV, turned to the news, played, but you would be thankfully alone in the room. Jackson spread the items on his father's bed.

"Welcome back," he said, feebly sitting up. "I'm sorry, I couldn't remember much more... what's this, son?"

"The... the things I told you I would bring," replied Jackson, taken aback.

"You told me..." It was disheartening to watch him struggle. "Oh, okay."

He picked up first the portrait of him and Jackson standing in a dark hallway. Jackson smiled, only a child, but his father's offering was meek. His mind was clearly on other things. "Oh, look, there we are. Yes, I remember this, we were meeting with John to talk about you. He expected you to follow me into Slygood... and I refused! I said, 'No! No more Johnny!'" He laughed, coughed, spluttering like a frozen engine. "Oh, yes, he was very mad. Always acted funny when you would stay with the kids."

His eyes fell on the outdated calender. "Oh ho, this. All these dates, you babysat them during meetings like a... like neighbors might have done. Took a lot of care of them, we did, their father's were so busy. Even has their doctor's appointments. 'Psy.', now what was that... Oh, of course, the psychologist. The boys had a few problems. Their fathers worried so much. For their faults, Andrew and John were great parents. Unfortunate, their kids both had the... what is it? Psycho... psychopathy. They were great together, though, loved their games, terrible in public though. I remember we were watching them, and we went out to dinner..."

"Dad," interrupted Jackson. "They're psychopaths?"

"What?" asked Sfida. "Oh, um, yes. Emotions, it had to do with. I don't recall exactly..."

"I know what it is dad. Go onto the next thing."

He picked up the letter, and squinted, holding it barely an inch from his face. "I wrote this. I started to. John and Andrew were headed to Italicus, after the, um, the geer... geero..."

"Giratina?"

"Yes! They'd been searching for years, said they'd found the Disc-sordid World. Where it was. They were headed out, wanted to go in themselves. I wanted to stop them, they didn't know much about it, and then... they never came back." A frown could be barely made out on his wrinkled face.

"That's enough, father." Jackson embraced his father. "Thank you, dad. Um... I'll see you later, alright?"

"Sure, Milly. I know you can do it."

Jackson smiled, the kind of smile that you make when your loved one can't remember what it is you're doing. His condition had deteriorated greatly in the short time you had been gone. Perhaps Jackson hadn't been quite as up-front about his father's condition. He turned to usher you all out, but stopped, his eyes catching the headline on the television.

"Simultaneous bombings in Redhurst, Malral, Deepwood"

He shut it off, looking over his shoulder at this father.

"Let's get out of here and see what's going on."

Instead of heading back towards the elevator, Jackson went down the other way. There he headed into an empty nurse's station, and flicked on the TV.

"... and there are no suspects for either of the attacks. Once again, let me clarify that Redhurst has NOT been targeted yet, but the Battle Tower received notice that they were on 'the list', as did the Observatory and Research Center, both of which have been attacked. No word now on the success of clearing the Battle Tower, we're learning that the Italicus Explorer's Group, an enthusiast group famous for leading many expeditions to the mountains on Icicle Island, was holding a convention there. We're hearing that they've in some way been trapped inside, this group may have control of the building..."

"An Italicus group," interrupted Jackson. "This can't be unrelated. So, I thought we'd have more time to talk, but this is what we've learned... Arthur and Jacob are both psychopaths. Explains a lot. It's all a game to them. If I recall, the schism, the split my father mentioned before... they didn't want to work together. They had all his power, and they chose to split up and fight each other. And we know the Distortion World's entrance is in the Italicus Mountains. I'd bet all of these targeted areas have a connection to this. And of course, my dad wouldn't let me get involved with Slygood..."

He stopped.

"There's going to be a lot of Slygood at all three of these places. We should split up. Redhurst is priority, we might be able to do something there and the people will know a lot about Italicus. Deepwood, probably has looked into the mountains. The Observatory... not sure what they have to do with this. Whoever goes where, get there quick, and look for information. I'll go to Redhurst with whoever chooses there."

No more words. You went back out the way you came.

We need to split into three groups. Do it how you want. Use this to converse and decide who goes where.

Floyd stuck annoyingly close to Kaiz after Lorenzo. She had shrugged off his concern and ignored him. Her aloof nature killed him, but he had a job to do and tried his best to focus. If they made it out of this alive, it was likely Jackson would be his boss. A depressing fact but one he would have to learn to live with. Being part of the government meant you couldnt always trust your betters, but they paid you just the same anyway. So, given that Kaiz didnt cleave to him as he did her, he drifted away from his best friend and took up somewhere between her and Jackson. There, he watched them both, knowing he was useless to either of them.
,
Pookie, for the ship onwards had taken up residence on his back, half perched in the pack and half draped over his shoulder. She was his personal shield and look out. Helsing remained out simply because he chose too. The pokeball was stuffy and his disposition sour.

He donned a gas mask with the others in Ashdell and together they muscled their way through the lower floor up to the second with surprising ease. No casualties. No injuries. Just more information and now more destruction. Three cities, three destinations to investigate.

Where to go?

As General of the OME, even if his credibility was in ruins, his place was by Jacksons side. As a friend, his place was by his partners side, the one he worked best with Kaiz. His human had made it unobtrusively clear that she didnt need him to cling though, so she made up his mind for him. He would stay with Jackson and personally see to the mans safety.

Floyd would go Redhurst with Jackson.

Reloading his gun he took his place by the other Generals side, making it clear with whom he stood by the grim expression across his toothy face.

Kaizanu shuffled about, rifle in arm. To storm the hospital? None of her pokemon were capable of anything other than destruction, so she refrained from sending them out. As soon as they rushed in, Kaizanu had donned her scarf as a mask, having failed to bring her gasmask along. Eyes searched the room as she moved along with the group. Soon, they were in the elevator, going up to the Sfida's room, and she hung back, following up the group as they put everyone on the floor to sleep.

Leaving nothing but snoring in their wake, Kaizanu paused for a moment, looking for a storage room. With the intent to find a first aid kit, and a more appropriate face mask. After wards, whether or not she was successful in her search, Kaizanu rejoined the group as Jackson began to converse with his father. In some ways, it reminded her of her own father, though he had been killed unceremoniously; probably for the better, Kaizanu, as grateful as she was, would have probably told him to fuck off.

Deciding it was not right to have so many eyes trained on an old dying man, Kaizanu fixated on the television. The image flicked off as Jackson herded them out... Bombings. Immediately, Kaizianu was worried. Deepwood - she hadn't been there so long ago. What if she had been there? She turned her attention on Jackson, now. Waiting for instruction. If he was the future of their government, she had to protect him.

Eyes fell on Floyd. The alien that was her friend. He seemed a bit put off by her, and Kaizanu felt bad. He stood solidly by Jackson, and Kaizanu nodded to herself. Tying her scarf back over her wound, Kaizanu also slung her rifle over her shoulder, joining her superiors, she gave a look over to Floyd. Maybe it was worry that his heart would fail him, or some other reason, but she felt the need to go along. Maybe, really, she was the clingy one, trying to act cool - and failing.

"I've got your backs, Generals," she said. Though it seemed to be directed at the both of them, Kaizanu glanced, for a longer period, at Floyd. Putting her hand on her belt, she recounted her pokeballs. The very motion of her arm caused the crusted blood to crack slightly, beading a bit with blood, but it had finished bleeding profusely now. Kaizanu was glad. Looking to Floyd and then the crowd, she wondered who else would join them.

------------------
In the chaos, Kaizanu looks for a first-aid kit to bring along. Kaizanu decides to go to Redhurst with Floyd & Jackson.

My Items and Team

Once on the ferry boat, Jared took out two of his Pokeballs, and dropped them on the deck. His trusty croc, Auraiso, and his tiny warrior, Rono, appeared on the deck. All three know why Jared had chosen to call them out. Auraiso waddled over to stand by Jared's leg as both faced Rono, who had just recovered from being depressed. "Well? Have you decided to keep pressing on no matter what?" There was rekindled fire in Rono's eyes as the tiny warrior nodded firmly in agreement. A relieved smile crept across the boy's face, and Auraiso cheerfully waddled over to pat Rono on his back. "Great! I'm going to rely on you to do your job well." The Aron nodded firmly once more, and the threesome waited out the ride to Lorenzo.

Once everybody had arrived in the hospital, various duties were carried out by the members of the group. Jared, not knowing what a tranq gun is, nor have a Pokemon that could put to sleep or paralyze, did his best to stay at the back of the group and rely on Rono to protect him and Auraiso from the dangerous spores.

Once in the old man Jackson's room, Jared could do nothing but look around. Oh look, there's Jemilie! The one who gave him Chad and Seifer, and the one who had accidentally gotten his gifts and vice versa. Now would be a better time than any to go up to her and be acquainted with her. He went up to her along with Auraiso in his arms and Rono following him closely. "Hello. You are Jemilie, am I right? I saw you in the headquarters, but never had the chance to talk to you. My name is Jared."

Auraiso stopped in his munching on Jared's armguard to stare at the purple haired lady. Just who is she, and why is Jared talking to her? He would have to watch her closely. Rono, on the other hand, could feel an aura coming from her. He could feel that she is a trainer with experience behind her. Seifer had told him about her numerous times. This is the woman who had trained the Floatzel to his current strength. A small smile, though hidden, crept across his face. It would be very interesting indeed to learn from her.

Jared continued on, ignorant of what his Pokemon were doing. "I have to thank you for giving me Chad and Seifer. Ever since you have given them to me, I have been taking them with me on my journeys. Oh, and Chad had evolved into a Nidorino. What brings you here? I got involved into this mess because I just happened to be in Ashdell at the time."

Whether she replied or not, Jared couldn't help but overhear the news saying that there would be a bombing at the Deepwood Pokemon Research Center. Wait a minute, isn't that the place where one could go to revive fossils? Eventhough Jared did not have his fossil fragment with him, still he felt that the Research Center should be protected at all costs.

When he was given the chance to speak again, Jared would say, "Oh noes, looks like they are targeting the place where you can revive fossils. If I go there by myself, I would be swamped easily! Jemilie, would you mind going with me there? I must protect that place at all costs, no matter what! I got fossils to revive; I can't let them bomb that place! Please?"

CHECKPOINT

Ben was relatively quiet in the van, and on the ferry ride. He let Jax out for part of it, scratching thoughtfully behind her ears, and eventually handing over a odd plate that he'd collected out of a spider's web. Only her or Anubis had any moves it could benefit, and he didn't think the Lucario was much inclined to give his bell up at the moment.

And then they were back in Ashdell. He stifled an irritated sigh at Jackson's comments about subtlety. He'd done the best he could under the circumstances, and he thought the others had, too. “Maybe he would have preferred if I let all those people run into the house after him and the group, then...” he muttered so quietly that only those nearby him at the time might be able to hear it, sorely tempted to just walk off at this point, but well aware it was too late. It was too late after he headed to the hospital out of curiosity, really.

He was disinclined to be part of any group running rampant through a hospital that was going to need gas masks or whatever, either. Like he'd be able to find one of the closets in a reasonable time to pick one up, even. It was very, very tempting to just sit outside and wait for everyone, but that apparently wasn't an option and he was going to be drug along for the ride. He hunted through his pack for a few moments before he found something that would work for a mask.

And then everyone went in, guns blazing and pokemon taking people out indiscriminately. Ben stuck out of it as much as possible, though the leafeon upon his shoulders used Grasswhistle from time to time to put out this or that person. She was rather reluctant, however, only targeting people she considered suspicious. Everyone else seemed to be doing fine at taking the rest of them out...

They both hated this, and listened in glum silence to the added information, mulling it over. His head tilted at the reports, and he followed the rest down to the nurse station to listen to the rest of it. Then Jackson reported they needed to split up, improving the blind trainer's mood slightly.

One thing was sure. He'd be damned before he went along with Jackson. They did their best with this thrown together situation, and because it was pretty much impossible to keep the situation quiet, he acted as if they couldn't be subtle.

It wasn't like he hadn't made the actual effort to prevent any information getting to superiors on that mission. His lucario had taken out several people before they could call anything in, Faith had taken out the camera efficiently and in seconds...but no matter. He wasn't going to dwell on it. So that pretty much put going with Floyd out of the picture. He rather liked the Scavian, but not nearly that much.

Cocking his head to the side, he mulled the other options over. The Research Center, or the Observatory. He listened quietly a moment as some of the others considered the matter as well, getting rid of his own mask for the moment. Seemed some were considering the Center already. And they had a group of four effectively already...

He leaned over slightly, in Steely, Alex and Ian's general direction. “Observatory?” he asked them quietly. He hid a smile a bit at the thought of the irony; two blind people heading over to an Observatory was amusing after a fashion. “There's already some people heading for the other places, and I doubt we want to split up, and there's nobody headed there yet.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Steely, Ian and me all intend to go to the Observatory (discussed in chat), and we're pretty certain Alex will go with Steely, too. Makes four for that group.
0.3 :gexp ((FYI, I didn't think too deeply in this one. Just needed to ramble for lack of doing anything relevant.))
Jemilie continued to revel in her solitude, watching the waters drift by, their ride rocking forwards against the turbulent seas as swiftly as an infinitesimal blip against the breadth of nature's shifting ferocity could. In a dramatic scenario of their story, it would prove to reflect the high tension of the situation- the trainers being pulled about every which way and that, with no knowledge of what direction they were coerced to go, just only being able to follow along. Even her placidity was chipped- a twitch set on her brow at the annoyance of never knowing what they were dealing with. Or perhaps the annoyance of something existing akin to an omnipotent being, whose touch stretched to virtually everything they've come to rely one, whose eyes and ears existed in every corner. Who could give as easily as he could take away. Or perhaps there was more annoyance in the fact that there was little else they could have done. They followed, they obeyed, they foughtor risked losing everything.
Kind of like the cruelty of Pokemon training, huh? A taste of their own medicine, so to speak. In Jemilie's mind, it was nothing like the drama so many portrayed it to be. Humans and Pokemon had their roles in the world- humans to shape it, and Pokemon to balance the change. When they came together, their powers were designed to make or break harmony, in the untouched ancient relationship that continued on from the beginning to the present. Activists struggling to promote Pokemon beyond the purposes they were given was just as idiotic as humans expecting to fulfill the role of 'subservience' as they would like to put it. Pokemon, after all, were never meant to lead or control the world- only humans were audacious enough to claim that right.
Somewhere across the deck, a figure in similar repose was looking into the turbulent waters of his own problems. She watched from the corners of her eyes, allowing only a brief second of pity to what he must struggle through for them. His sacred past had been violated, his father's life slipping away with each passing second, and the lives of hundreds of thousands relying exclusively on what he would achieve from this renegade path he chose to follow. Big deal to some- especially to her- who'd seen enough 'end of the world' struggles to last a lifetime. The world would always have some major calamity against it, if not next week or next month, then in the next year and the one after that. That was why they existed to make sure it never happened- that's why they were here now. And Jackson would have to understand that his position as a leader of a nation would not come without sacrifice, the question being was he strong enough to accept it.
Pushing these thoughts aside, she followed with nonchalant detachment as the group touched land and stormed the hospital. Take no prisoners was the rule, and they downed every encounter they came across, unwilling to further exacerbate their situation should one enemy member get a chance to tattle. Jemilie didn't own the fancy tranquilizer equipment and whatnot, although she did own an Altaria that could calm souls to rest, and she had her take the front of the dispatching unit until they arrived at old man Jackson's room with the relics supposed to recover his memory. She took the scene in with as much disinterest as it took for them to come, keeping her facade diverted to the mounted TV but her ears to Sfida's every struggled word. She could only pick out a few key words from the jumble: psychopath, games, emotions, Giratina. This coupled with a breaking news report suddenly springing onscreen of bomb threats in three different regions. It was just sounding better every minute.
"Hello. You are Jemilie, am I right? I saw you in the headquarters, but never had the chance to talk to you. My name is Jared."
The girl made a quick, silent turn to the voice, dumbstruck that someone actually recognized her by name. Her emerald eyes peered down at a slightly shorter younger boy, whom she recognized quickly. Jared, a kid she trusted with her Nidoran and Floatzel and the safe return of her gift items from Giftsmas. He went on to explain about them and she nodded with a half-smile. As long as theyre doing well. I just want them to have a chance at living their lives and have an opportunity to grow. I have way too many Pokemon under my care for them, so youve done me a huge favor. It didnt seem he had them with him now. A Totodile and an Aron eyed her warily, and she grinned back at them. She didnt have Pokemon to introduce at the moment, Xan returned to his Pokeball for safekeeping and Aura returning to her reconnaissance duties outside, but she supposed hell see them in time.
And why Im here That was a hard question to answer. She really didnt feel like being here. She didnt really want to be here, either. Nor did she have responsibility to. Politics couldnt mean any more to her than bird shit, but still she stayed to help. I guess its my duty to be here. A light chuckle, and she sighed wistfully. Duty, was it. She could always fight it, but her nature had to choose to do what was right. Every. Damn. Time.
Jackson held his father. Despite the light-hearted words, it didnt look as if there would be a next time, and the procession shuffled quietly out. All that was left was the pressing situation between two psychopathic brats and the bombings of three vital places. Destroying evidence, perhaps? At this point in time, it was difficult to pass the incidences as unrelated, and as Jackson continued to voice out her own train of thought, she felt herself being jumped up by Jared again. Of course, he would be concerned about Deepwoods center, and the possibility or reviving the fossils she promised to do for him. People have chosen their own paths, and she gave the boy a shrug. Whomever she went with didnt matter much, did it. They were all after the same goal. Wed best be off then. If anyone else wants to join us, theyll follow.
((So Jem's going to the Researchavation place with Jared. (Deepwood)))
Ian rode in the van in silence, stroking Nibbs' fur softly for a bit before he finally withdrew him into his pokeball. Once they were on the boat, he stuck mostly to himself, taking the time to think things over. He had known at some point that if he were to become a pokemon trainer it would require him to battle using his pokemon, and that he would not always be the victor of his battles. He would have to either accept this fact or give up as a pokemon trainer. He reminded himself that Nibbs had been fighting as soon as he could walk and, while he didn't know Sasha's exact origins other than the name of the trainer who had previously owned him, from the cat's disposition and eagerness to hurt things Ian was pretty sure that Sasha hadn't been raised in the most savory of environments. After Jackson's little speech about his father, Ian felt a twinge of sympathy for the man. He was dealing with something much worse than one of his pokemon being unconscious.
They reached the hospital and Jackson laid out his plan. Ian felt better about this one than he had about the previous plan, it was non-injuring to those they were fighting. Despite being labeled as "The Enemy" it seemed like people had trouble remembering that their foes were actual people and pokemon too. They probably had Jackson's group labeled as "The Enemy" as well and most likely thought they were in the right. Ian had tried to treat them as such, attempting to disable them without hurting them last time, but all that had gained him was two injured pokemon of his own in a split second. The world was ruthless. Ian sighed as he prepared for the unavoidable conflict inside, releasing Dalal from her pokeball.
"Your job is to put those inside asleep, we're apparently not very concerned with who so just go for anyone you can, although I'd prefer if you don't do it with a very... heavy hand? If you can. Also, there's going to be stuff in the air so hold your breath until you can guide me to a medical closet and I'll get us some masks to cover up with," Ian said describing the plan to her.
Well, they infiltrated the hospital, putting bystanders and Slygood goons to sleep indiscriminately. Ian held a firm grip on one of Dalal's horns, letting her guide him along with the rest of the group so he would not be too slow. Dalal led him to a closet quickly, and Ian grabbed a mask both for himself and for her to protect them from the sleep inducing gasses and powders being tossed about all willy nilly. For a second Dalal refused to put it on, saying that it would make her look ridiculous, but Ian managed to persuade her that falling asleep during the mission was probably much worse. So the group made it to Jackson's father, and Ian stepped back and let the two of them take the stage.
When the talk was over, Ian was specifically gloomier, both because of the father and son's tearful interaction, and because the information they had gained was so slim and so disheartening. If their enemies were psychopaths than the little rag-tag group could not depend on human morals to limit their ferocity in chasing and destroying them. It seemed like someone had already made it to Giratina as well. The news flickered on and supplied them with information about bombings all across the continent. There was no way that it could be a coincidence. Perhaps Slygood had realized their failure to keep Jackson away from his childhood home and had attempted to flat out destroy other evidence that could be used against them. Or perhaps there was different motivation behind it. Either way, they had to check the bombings out, Ian agreed on that.
Observatory? Ian heard a quiet voice ask, There's already some people heading for the other places, and I doubt we want to split up, and there's nobody headed there yet.
That's the other blind boy, Dalal commented offhandedly, And I'm pretty sure he's right about the sticking together part. The Steel Cerberus was the one who protected you when you acted foolish back in Lorenzo...
Ian blinked, he hadn't realized that Steely had been the one to protect him when he had run across the street for Nibbs and Sasha. It was just like her not to mention it to him. Ian nodded and said, "Yes, I believe sticking together with those we know is a good idea. I'm pretty sure Steely is the only person who knows me though, my name is Ian. The observatory is good with me..."
Pokemon
Backpack
Once she was free of the confined van, Celeste was eager to be away from the others. The blanket of seriousness that draped over everything made it impossible for her to socialize, and she left the groups of friends to converse among themselves, wandering around the ship. Jasmine and Aphrodite were out again, stretching and wandering within an invisible circle around their trainer. She just couldn't have them tucked away for very long in this situation, desperate for the comfort of the familiar and beginning to suffer from paranoia.
It was Jasmine who noticed the solitary figure first, and she cocked her head to one side at the sight of Jackson off by himself. There was an urge to go over and act cute, try to get a smile out of him, but her own trainer seemed to need her more. Celeste saw him too, after a moment, and sighed; she could only imagine what was going through his mind. So many people were counting on him, so many people were after him, and all he had were a handful of soilders, established trainers, and novices like her, unorganized and with limited supplies.
She made a half-step toward him, awkwardly raised her arm despite being too far away to touch his shoulder or whatever she planned to do, but when he looked up she scrambled back and looked at the ground, trying to melt into the background and become faceless, a blush crossing her cheeks in embarassment.
She nodded quietly as she heard the plan, though she winced a little when he mentioned their 'short history.' Okay, so they didn't have the most subtle group of people here, that was true. Celeste was always standing back, waiting for the chaos to explode around her, and, twice, it had done just that. Maybe it was simply time to cut out the 'standing back' part, since no one else seemed likely to bother. They just had to go in guns blazing and hope no one innocent got caught in the crossfire.
Celeste untied Aphrodite's Black Belt, hoping to use it as a makeshift gas mask, and recalled her, leaving Jasmine and Hunter. She met each of their eyes, and human and pokemon alike gave a simultaneous, firm nod. This wasn't their usual battle, but they knew what to do.
Her heart pounded in her chest as they moved along, and she nearly jumped at the sound of shattering. Hunter and Jasmine were inside in a moment, Hunter's voice working its magic alongside the other sleep-inducing pokemon while Jasmine, having no ability to do anything with her spores but poison, instead covered the team of disabling pokemon with her shield while ready to revive any mistakenly-hit friendlies.
Rinse, lather, repeat with the next group, Celeste fighting drowsiness every step due to her less-than-effective mask. If Jasmine weren't out to give her a focused Aromatherapy a few times, she would have long passed out on the floor. When they finally returned to the hospital room, she practically tore off the Black Belt, eager to breathe deeply without feeling light-headed.
Again, the sight of Sfida made her feel sick with sympathy. His condition had clearly deteriorated, but the words that came from him, a jumbled mess at best, rambling brought on by the sights of the objects, made it impossible for her to avert her eyes this time. Psychopaths, otherworldly entities...By Arceus, by the time they had left and gotten information on the bombings, she was practically numb, and she swallowed heavily at the mention of splitting up.
"Two powerful psychopaths..." she murmured, her thoughts spilling from her mouth in a half-mumbled stream for her pokemon to hear. "Psychopaths that have been getting therapy since they were children...That means by now they can mimic an ordinary person perfectly if they want to. Understand people, manipulate them...By Arceus..." She wanted to use stronger words, but she settled for swearing by the all-powerful Alpha Pokemon. Part of her, the part that was raised by the poster woman for the 'kind old granny' stereotype, was holding back the curse words for something extreme enough to warrant them.
"And now we're splitting up, when our biggest asset was overwhelming numbers...Arceus..." She fell silent, eyes drifting. The General quickly took up a spot next to Jackson, followed by the woman she remembered from outside the hospital before, the one who had been shot in Lorenzo. Her first instinct, immediately, was to join them, but she stopped and mentally berated herself. Their would-be president needed the best trainers watching his back, not a novice like her, and she knew that first thought had been brought on by a desire for self-preservation, a wish to hide beside those with guns (and claws and fangs, in Floyd's case) in case things got bad.
Instead, she remained where she was. It seemed a group was forming to take on Malral, and a young boy, the one with the gible, and whose totodile helped put out the fire, she remembered, was begging a woman to come along with him to Deepwood, claiming a need to revive fossils. So innocent, he was, and so young. The woman seemed to agree, or at least be accepting of the idea, and she wasn't wasting any time.
Celeste activated Aphrodite's pokeball and returned the borrowed Black Belt to its place around her waist as she pondered this. Going to Redhurst was out of the question, and it seemed that the group heading for Malral would be tight-knit, and she loathed to become a wildcard that could inadvertantly wreck their plans. Deepwood it was, she supposed.
Gesturing for Jasmine and Aphrodite to follow, she headed for the woman and boy with a determined, yet somewhat nervous, gait. "Excuse me." Her voice was less level than she cared for it to be, but decent given that she'd been a trembling wreck back in Lorenzo. "I'm Celeste. I don't suppose you mind my coming along?" Seemingly trying to help, Jasmine made big puppy-dog eyes at the woman, mirrored by Hunter from his shoulder perch, while Aphrodite kept a blank, indifferent expression tinged with irritation at their adorable displays.
((Long story short, Celeste's looking to tag along with Jared and Jemilie to Deepwood.))
Checkpoint!
Answers Was her curiosity to be rewarded with a burden that she should never have opted to carry? Even that underlying foreboding of unhappiness and worry could no longer be wrapped under the mask of indifference. It was fake, superficial; ridiculous even, to pretend to know anything about what was going on, apart from all those dirty underground fighting between Slygood associates and the like. But she was slowly getting used to the fact that this was definitely no comfortable joyful activity. Heavy-hearted or otherwise, this would undoubtedly impact the entire Opaddeka.
Or so, thats what she felt.
She witnessed it all. The hospital scuffle might be a simple misplaced conflict, but everything else seemed to be placed that high a level of significance (which no ordinary resident of Opaddeka would, or even bother to, spot.) that she couldnt simply kid herself to forget about everything. And Sfidas memories a mere mortal clinging on to the past, and Satari would have never expected that to be a key of explaining some (and in this case, a large bulk) of Opaddekas undercurrents. And her only consolation, at that point, was simply the fact that none of these violence were going to surface above the real surface of society. It was, hopefully, just like many of those unnoticed earthquakes. Large and potentially devastating, but the epicenter isnt close enough to the surface to cause any real, visible damage.
"Simultaneous bombings in Redhurst, Malral, Deepwood"
How wrong she was.
If there was anything important that she had learnt in her brief yet exciting 26 years of existence, it was to keep her emotions in check. There was an uncomfortable pressure in her stomach as she stomached the news in its entirety, and her mind began to run in thankfully moderated overdrive. She re-evaluated her rationale, fast. Even in her loyalty to Jackson in this particular operation, Satari was still not inclined to question anything more about the underlying story behind these bizarre events half of which she would never understand anyway.
And if there were anything to seal her participation in this mayhem, it would be the attacks. Oh no, none of those justice heroism crap. Just that underlying uneasiness about the prominence of Slygoods plan in action, and perhaps a even deeper underlying concern that all these might culminate into an unstable Opaddeka, which might pose a threat to her certain someone in turn-
But where? She merely scanned across the entire crowd in silence, picking her choices carefully. Redhurst was priority, yes, but she was nowhere near the calibre to deal with the most dangerous of places. That, and she didnt want to take responsibility for Jackson. Unlike the glorious members of the OME, or any of those prominent trainers, she was merely a nobody, trying to do as much as she could.
She found herself shuffling somewhat unwillingly towards the group heading to Deepwood a bizarre choice, considering that she practically knew none of them. A adolescent boy who seemed like the overenthusiastic kind and the lady whose Altaria was attacked during their brief visit to Lorenzo.
Cirrus the Staraptor had forced his way out of his Pokeball. Satari didnt say a word, but she knew what the Staraptor wanted to do, and she was grateful for it. Satari had instinctively felt the formation of cliques within the whole horde of trainers, right from the start. OME? Old friends? Cliques? She knew no one, and she knew nothing. Existing as an outsider has its flaws after all.
But Cirrus was there, simply to show that Satari was not alone. And with that, she could go far more than simply shrinking in her corner
"I'm Celeste. I don't suppose you mind my coming along?"
Oh right. This wasnt a social function. This was work.
Hi! Ill like to join you people as well, if you dont mind. Im Satari.
Strength in numbers, as they say.
The quiet ride across the dark water presented a peaceful eye of the storm, a solitary time of recovery in the midst of constant action. It gave Prosper a chance to collect himself after he had grown rather agitated in the cramped van. Escaping its tiny confines, he had moved quickly to the outside railing, leaning over and gazing across the black sea as they crossed over, bound for Ashdell.
Jackson, especially, seemed keen on taking the moment for himself. Ever since meeting him back near Radloff in the days of the first crisis, Prosper had never taken the general for a reflective man. He seemed like a person prone to action, never at a loss for words or choices. Here, left raw and exposed by the enormous pressure mounted on his shoulders, he appeared more down-to-earth than ever before.
But the respite was quickly snatched away. They neared the city, and Jackson gathered them together for further instruction. Mentioning the possibility of spores and powders filling the hospital, Prosper instinctively reached for his gas mask, tucked away in his pack. A thought of Leaf in action once more crossed his mind; the flower Pokemon knew well of the ability to afflict his opponents before considering outright attacks. Come to think of it, however, his trusted partner only possessed the ability to poison his foes.
Securing his mask, Prosper lined in with the others outside the hospital doors. Unfortunately, none of his Pokemon were capable of inflicting the conditions required by the situation, so the trainer stood alone, ready to race across the lobby as his mask filtered out the noxious chemicals. Once the glass was punched through, Prosper stood rooted a few seconds, waiting while the hospital staff were quickly and systematically removed. Once the signal was given, he broke through with the others, darting for the elevator. The slow motion and solitude of the short elevator ride felt oddly out of place after their actions only seconds ago, but it couldnt be helped. Once the doors whirred open once more, it was back to business. After the Slygood members became otherwise distracted, they finally pushed through to Sfidas room.
More stories. Prosper listened contentedly, wondering how seeing his father struggle so with the past made Jackson feel. It had to be heartbreaking, he imagined, to know that his close parent was slowly slipping away from him, especially when he presented such a key to the puzzle they had found themselves in. The news of the bombings hit then, and it immediately became obvious where their next destinations would be.
Splitting up seemed inevitable during these times. A large group would not work so well together, so it would take the work of three smaller and specialized forces to get the job done. Having no indication as to which city he should choose, Prosper waited and pondered, watching while each member of the group drifted off to their chosen team. With only a few left, Prosper noticed that the group bound for Redhurst consisted of a small trio, but a powerful one nonetheless. Feeling slightly sheepish as he walked over, Prosper took up with his three superiors, nodding quietly at them to indicate his choice. Matters seemed tense in their corner, so Prosper could only hope his addition would not be too unwelcome.
So it looked like they had their work cut out for them... again. The big group was going to split up into three... and it looked like the groups were already decided. Steely chuckled at Ben and his suggestion, but nodded... for whatever good it did.
"We'll go to the Observatory, yeah. That place and I have history," she chuckled, thinking back. It was where she had her first trainer battle (lost it, too) and it was just... special. So they'd go see what was going on over there.
She realized, when Ian introduced himself, that they all didn't know each other completely. Best to get all that out of the way, "I keep forgetting that you all don't know each other..." she shook her head. Steely was the thread that had tied their group together, without realizing it. Looking over, she saw Arell and waved her over too.
"But you all already know me. I'm Steely. This is Alex," she poked her tall boyfriend in the side, hoping he'd say something so the blind people would know where he was and what his voice sounded like, "And this is Arell," she said when the other girl came over, grinning at her.
"Then Ben and Ian. I'm kinda surprised that there's actually two of you," she scratched her head, referring to the fact that both of them were blind! How crazy was that.
Suddenly, as if reminded, Steely reached into her pocket and pulled out two revives, pressing them into Ian's hand until he took them, "And there you go, kid. For Nibbs and your cat,"
Cut to: the hospital interior, just after a successful Epic Siege in which no-one got hurt. Always a welcome statistic.
Alex listened passively to the TV blaring about more attacks, and Jackson's take on what should happen next. Right now, his brain was in drifting mode - not thinking too much about the deeper subplots and subtexts and whatever else used the sub prefix, instead going with the group consensus. He could tune back in once he was at - where were they going again?
Observatory. That's where Steely and Ben are headed. And Ian. Before Alex could frown at the unfamiliar name, Guru added, The other blind trainer. Ah. Two blind trainers in this subgroup, then. Probably why Steely had just poked him - Ian hadn't heard him say anything yet.
"Ow. Hi." There. Simple and to the point. Except two syllables wasn't really enough for a proper voice sample. "If we're in this group, we should make sure we're all stocked up properly. I'd say medicines are the top priority - Probably a lot of fighting ahead of us."
You're bringing the cookies, right? Yes, even Guru could not resist the wonderous taste of the good old Lava Cookie.
"Yes, I'm bringing the cookies."
Sweeeet.
If she ever made it back in one piece--of body, soul and mind--this would make an excellent book. She certainly was in a mind to observe every little detail. Maybe she should.
When this was over.
...speaking of which, this leg seemed to be over, and the paths were splitting again.
The trainer walked over to the only people that were familiar to her in the room--Steely, primarily. She liked to think of her as a friend, at least. And she smiled.
There were some others, there, too--acquaintances, passing ones, but still more familiar than strangers. Her shotgun holstered and away, she waved.
"This is me, yes."
Maybe Arell would write a book...
...and publish it as fiction, but without the "any similarity to real life events is coincidental" clause.
Yeah, observatory for me. Sorry this was short and late as fuck.
