So now they had finally crossed all the mucky cold water in the marsh and were in proper woods. Cerb wasn't sure if it was the presence of trees or the fact they were traveling south in direction, but the air had warmed up somewhat and there was a complete lack of snow everywhere. This, at least, meant she could set her Riolu down and let him wander on dry ground with supervision.

"We are all so gonna need baths when we hit Deepwood," she muttered, looking down at the muck crusted on her boots and Delphi's paws. The Absol nodded rapid agreement of this plan.

I want my fur to be white again. D: No more muck - trudging for meplz,

"Well, I'll try and avoid that in the future." Tying the ends of Alfred's blanket loosely around his neck for a cape, Cerb leaned down with some difficulty thanks to the Pikachu around her middle and set the Riolu onto the ground. "Stick close bud, or something might try to eat'cha,"

Alfred whuffed, taking a few wobbly pawsteps forward to get his bearing on the grassy forest floor. Delphi watched with slight bemusement from nearby, twitching her tail to get Pixie to wake up and stop napping on her butt now that all the grime was past. The Vulpix awoke and yawned widely, giving Delphi a few little grumbles before dropping to the ground and padding over to sniff noses with Alfred briefly. Shrewzy had always been more fond of and better with babies than she was.

"Let's get movin', then. Wendigo, must you sit on my head?" Cerb queried as they started walking again through the woods. The Snorunt wiggled his body in a nod, gripping her hat more tightly with his paws. The teen couldn't tell if he just liked the view, her hat, or being a cold annoying thing. Probably a mix of all three. Sighing, she went back to keeping an eye on Alfred as the Riolu padded slowly along just in front of her, flanked by Delphi and Pixie so things couldn't jump out and eat him.

Well, yay. You got a mod at least. *felt horribly guilty about not having time to do one before work*

But! I said I'd do one when I got home, so here I am!

....

.......

This would work better if stupid alarms hadn't fried my brains at work with loud painful noises.

*STUFF HAPPENS*

Good enough?

No?

Well dang. *ponders* Oh, what the hey, I'll fall back on my current default.

Cerby and her mans wander through the forest in the right general direction to reach Deepwood eventually. There's little visual evidence of the residents, but they make enough noise that it's easy to tell they're there, which is probably comforting in a way.

And there is nothing jumping out to eat them. Also a good thing.

However rounding yet another bush of indeterminate type, they finally come across residents. Bears.

Two of them in fact.

Plus side, they're not looking to go into maul mode.

Minus side...well...they're rather involved.

.3 :gexp Why must your current default involve that. D:

So there was walking!

And then there were bears!

X - rated bears!

Hot damn,

Cerb froze up stiff for .3 seconds and then quite rapidly jerked her head some other direction to shield her virgin eyeballs. Down on the ground, Pixie more prudently reached over to tug Alfred's cape up and over his head so that he couldn't see the babymaking in progress. The Riolu squeaked anyway, his ears going flat as he skittered backward until he ran into his trainer's shins.

"Aaah crap," while still avoiding looking at the bears, Cerb leaned down and picked up Alfred so he could huddle into her coat and try and forget some bad memories. Let her Pokedex ping all it wanted, she was so out of that general area and pronto. "C'mon guys, we're leavin' 'em,"

Pixie gave a little whuff of agreement, ears flat as she skirted around the bush and back onto the somewhat proper track again. Cerb followed behind, pausing a moment to reach back and grab Delphi by the base of her horn to yank her along. "C'mon you porn hound,"

Wark!

.3 Because the current story is that the population got hammered by the pokerus. Or something like that. Population recovery has to start somewhere. *nods sagely* Shoot me if you want, but then it might be harder to get mods.

Moving around the busy little bears and onwards! I will do better, I promise. No more porn. I'm sure much to the disappointment of Delphi.

And so there was more walking. And then cocoons!

Well, no porn here. One on the tree to the left, the other on the tree to the right. One wonders why, at these levels, they've not evolved, but...that might be a cause for why they look so irritated.

Or it might be because they can't engage in X rated action themselves. *shot*

Um...right. Well, they're attached to branches above the Cerby's head, one a whitish color, the other purple. Staring at each other. And looking grumpy.

O lol, is fine. It's true, the population has to continue somehow. >.>

Cerb continued walking rather quickly so she wouldn't have to stare at the little bears Doing Things anymore and Alfred would stop quivering, and she didn't stop again until her Pokedex registered things she hadn't seen as being nearby. Cautiously stopping, the teen looked around for their next encounter and was prepared to run for the hills again.

O lol, you ninny. It's only cocoons.

"Where?" Cerb blinked and looked up into the trees above, finally seeing the two things stuck on the branches over her head. It looked like a Silcoon and a Cascoon to her, just sitting there facing each other on different branches. "Interesting. Lookit these Alf, they're not...doing inappropriate things,"

The Riolu snuffled against her jacket before very slowly peeking out from under his blanket cape to look up into the trees at the two Pokemon stuck there. His short ears twitched, the puppy staring before barking once at them.

"Okay, shush. We don't want to make them mad." The teen patted Alfred on the head a few times before beginning to walk again through the bush, since she wanted to make her way to Deepwood before it got totally dark and they got eaten in the woods by larger bears. Delphi and Pixie still trailed along behind her, sniffing for things on the ground while Wendigo took a nap on top of her hat.

HAHAHAHA LOOK OVER HERE! I have a present for you!

There is a creature. With pointy bits. Spiky pointy bits, actually, and it's brown. Yep. This is the best description of anything ever, and you will love and revere my use of adjectives. At least it's not as bad as Stephenie Meyer - nothing can be that bad.

SPARKLE MOTION!

The creature that is in question is, in fact, about to tear the universe apart for even mentioning that crap. it's just standing there, looking pretty angry right now, and like it wants to lift up a tree. Do you know what it is? It's a Pinsir! You like those, right? Maybe you want to give it a hug- wait, no, nobody'd want to do that. Well, that and the fact that suddenly you seemed to be surrounded by some stumps as you walked. How weird was that. Random additions of not-trees, what is this.

A present for the Pokedex, maybe. Cerb was glad to notice that there was a great thinning of the trees around her, and not so glad to see the angry Pinsir in their way. It didn't look like she could get around it very easily, since it was pissed off and pissed off Pokemon had an annoying tendency to pursue at times.

"Oh dear." Cerb eyeballed the Pinsir warily, thinking to herself for a moment. She wasn't too far from Deepwood, so maybe she could risk having a tangle with this bug. It looked manageable enough. "Wendigo, wake up." The Snorunt gave a faint grunt, lifting his head to blink and look around sleepily. "I has a thing for you to beat up on."

"Snow!" The Snorunt perked up in excitement, sliding down Cerb's hat to her shoulder and bouncing from there to the ground. Alfred stared after him, ears pricked as he watched the scene unfold. Delphi went and sat next to her trainer, while Pixie flanked to the other side.

"Alright, Wendigo. Hit him quick, and keep yourself safe." The teen watched her Snorunt waddle off, spewing shards of ice from his mouth for the angry bug before hunching down and huddling in a protective posture against the ground. She knew Wendigo wasn't strong enough to take this Pinsir by himself, and that's where backup came in. "Finish it, Pixie."

The Vulpix nodded an affirmative, dashing forwards with her tails streaming out behind her to hurdle over Wendigo a breathe a long stream of fire into the Pinsir's face and burn it to a nice toasty crisp.

So we have a fight on our hands! And in order to make today go smoothly, allow me to demonstrate to you the powers of protecting yourself from a Pinsir, which conveniently meant that your team goes unscathed from this encounter, wins the day.

A Pinsir does indeed have a hard shell. Hard shells mean tough nuts to crack, until you set them on fire. And, really, both the Ice Shard and Quick Attack did reasonably low damage, and then setting the Pinsir on fire basically torches it to bits.

Congratulations, another victory for you. Get moving.

Oh, we is movin'.

"Good job, guys," Cerb nodded in approval as the bug fell to the ground, toasty and burnt and whatnot. Pixie came swaggering back, with Wendigo waddling behind her and cackling gleefully. He hadn't exactly seen the Vulpix torch the Pinsir, so he thought he had stuck the winning blow in this encounter. The fact that it was crispy and smoke was rising off it? Severe frostbite. Totally.

At least we haven't seen those angry birdies yet, eh? Delphi commented, picking her way through the stumps as they began to walk again. After a brief, cautious look around to ensure that the angry birdies were indeed not present, Cerb set Alfred back down on the ground so that he could walk along again.

"Mew forbid Farfetch'd come flying out of the trees wanting our liver," she grumbled, glaring suspiciously at the foliage on the sides of the cleared out area. Stumps of various sizes littered this clearing, which Cerb and her team were slowly weaving their way through. It took her a moment to realize that Alfred had gone sailing past her head with an excited bark, hopping from one stump to another. "Woah, what the heck are you doing,"

"Lu!" The puppy landed neatly on a stump the same height as her knees, doing a graceful twirl and flourish of his blanket cape. The teen quirked an eyebrow, while Delphi snorted a snicker off to the side.

Methinks someone is getting a better grip on his land legs.

"So I see." Cerb ruffled behind Alfred's ears, before the Riolu was hopping off in the wake of Pixie and Wendigo. "That kinda looks like fun."

Delphi gave a shuddering twitch for a moment. You're going to faceplant.

"Psh, no. Lookit the size of these things." The teen hopped her way up onto a stump, pausing to survey the terrain and see where Alfred was larking off to with the rest of her Pokemon before attempting her own great stump hopping adventure. Delphi padded slowly behind, sighing a bit and waiting for some other inkling of doom to bite her in the arse.

Your boot is untied.

Cerb paused after landing on a stump, leaning over to look down. "What, it i - waugh!" THUMP! off the stump, onto her back on the ground. The teen stared fuzzily at the sky for a moment, until Delphi's mug came into view over it. "You did that on purpooose,"

I'm sorry. You were giving me a headache. :<

"Oh blah at you." Cerb flailed her hands at the Absol a few times before slowly rolling over and sitting up stiffly to look around. Alfred stood on a nearby stump, head quirked to the side curiously while Pixie peeked out from behind it and Wendigo just stood there giggling at the scene of carnage. "I'm fine, guys. Let's keep going."

And no stump jumping, Delphi added as Cerb stood up and brushed dirt off herself before walking again, grumbling under her breath about her back and tailbone.

When going from a clear area back into more woods, it wasn't too surprising.

"Getting closer," Cerb mused, consulting her Poketech for the map before shoving it back into her pocket and continuing to walk. "Guys, stick together so nobody gets lost or eaten please,"

Pixie and Wendigo closed ranks on Alfred, shepherding him back closer towards their trainer so they were back in a more cohesive, clustered knot of safety. Cerb still had Delphi walking at her side, the Absol occasionally taking swipes at tree branches with her horn and muttering something about mowing weeds. The teen glanced down at her briefly before paying more attention to the trees and Pokemon in front of her, wary and alert for surprises. They were so close to Deepwood and one of her more important goals for this trip. It was almost painful, but the teen wasn't going to start running. Had to think of the baby, y'know.

Whose fault is that, I wonder. >.>

The forest sure didn't look any different, but the air felt a little warmer and Cerb's Poketech said she was getting somewhere. Now Deepwood wasn't too far off, just southeast of their current position.

"Almost there, Delphi," she commented to the Absol, who perked up slightly. "And then you can wash your feets off. ...and my boots too, now that I think about it."

If it's so close, why are we still walking? Delphi grumbled, flicking her tail and raising one paw to shake it, though the dried mud didn't go magically flinging off. And don't blame the baby when you have arms, she added when Cerb opened her mouth in defense. The teen gaped a second before she shut her jaw and grumbled, looking back at the map and then the path through the trees, and finally up at the sky. It wasn't getting dark yet, but there were faint edges of pinkness to the clouds. Good enough for government work, at any rate.

"Right, fine. More exercise than I want to do today." Cerb whuffed once, then trotted forward quickly to scoop Alfred up into her arms as the puppy squeaked in surprise. "Sorry buddy, we're making a surprise dash to Deepwood now. C'mon guys, before it gets too dark," she added to Pixie, before reaching down to grab Wendigo and set him on her hat again. The Snorunt had short legs, so his running anywhere wasn't happening.

Mad dash to Deepwood, hoy!

AND WE'RE BACK. Except now we're on the other side of the town and we have a very significantly long travel plan to get through, oh boy.

And Delphi wants to chop Alfred's nads off, but it's not like that's new.

"Delphi, quit eyeing him like food or you go back in your ball," Cerb grumbled finally, looking over at the Absol as she picked her way along the rocks on the edge of the small pond. Delphi snorted, flicking her tail once in acknowledgement that she'd heard before giving Alfred a great big glare out of one eye. The Lucario laid his ears flat, silently shadowing his trainer more closely since she had the Pokeball of Doom to capture Delphi in.

This is going to be a long trip, Pixie commented, sneezing afterwards and swishing her tails in irritation. This mental stuff was new still and a bit headachy, but practice was the only sure way to get used to it. Cerb reached down and patted the Ninetales on the head, ruffling her fingers through the silky tuft of fur.

"It sure is. Not sure how I'm gonna stand this trip if those two don't settle down already." The teen sighed as Sparky chittered agreement, his weight on her shoulder sending tingling pain through the joint. Learning how to see Aura through a freak accident was wonderful and everything, but the joint issues that came with it were not. Cerb had already popped quite a few pain relievers before leaving Deepwood, but they hadn't helped at all with the mysterious energy battle that was raging on inside her nervous system.

I say we set them on fire. :<

"Now that's not very nice,"

No thank you please, Alfred whined, shivering a little. Being a dual steel type was great now for defensive hits, but eeeeeeh fire.

You can come'n try me, foxy, Delphi scoffed, her paws silent on the rocks as she hopped along. Cerb reached down and grabbed Pixie by the ruff before the Ninetales could actually take her up on the offer, the big cream fox giving a faintly muffled snarl.

"Oi, Mew help me. Ya'll settle the crap down, and now," the teen whuffed, reaching to pinch the bridge of her nose with her other hand while Sparky facepawed and grumbled something. "I think it was relatively more quiet way back when you still hated my guts, Sparky."

"Pika," the Pikachu agreed. Ah, the good old days of traveling with either small Pokemon or a limited number of them. It was something to think about, at any rate.

The other three Pokemon gave grumbling mumbles of consent with some irritated tail swishing from Pixie, before something of a charged silence descended upon the group. It made it easier for Cerb to focus on her surroundings, anyway.

Primeval Forest was not ordinary. Even after the devastation that PokeRUS had left the natural order in, the entire forest was like a single, living being, every part of it connected. Some said it had its own soul, and the truth was that those sensitive to the lifeforce around them would feel almost choked by the presence of all the flora and fauna intertwined in a web of life.

Of course, the most sensitive member of your crew was busy being frightened by the two irate females in his presence, and neither of said females would be strong enough to feel it all. Still, there was an overwhelming feeling of being watched that went beyond extrasensory gifts, and it only intensified with every step you took. This was about the time that a feeling of dread would wash over Delphi; Pixie was in danger.

Then, as soon as you left the serene Deepwood Pond behind you and descended into a deeper, thicker part of the forest, there was a loud splash followed by the air suddenly becoming abnormally humid. A blur of orange sped past Pixie, narrowly missing her, and stopped and turned on a dime to face you with a unnervingly hollow look in its eyes. The Floatzel's arms flexed, showing sharp claws and drawing attention to the yellow band tied around its left arm.

Moments later, in a blur of orange and black, an Arcanine leaped through the trees to land behind the Floatzel. Sitting in a saddle on the dog's back was a woman decidely less kind-looking than the one you had encountered on the way to Deepwood. Head to toe in a tight black catsuit like out of a bad spy movie, with the black leather jacket and high heels to match, if you were waiting for the red 'R' on her chest, there wasn't one. Just a symbol that looked like blue flames, much like Alfred's aura fire, in the shape of a heart.

The trainer tossed her bright blond hair and grinned. "Good boy, Floatzel. Not as adept as the fox we were tracking, but it'll do." She then put on a look of false sweetness. "I don't suppose I could convince you to hand over that Ninetales peacefully?" the thief asked, pulling out an ultra ball and poised to release its contents at a moment's notice. "It'll be much more pleasant for both of us if you cooperate."

Soon they left the pond behind, onto the next leg of their journey. Cerb was a bit sad to see it go, but then she happened to be a bit preoccupied. Rampant Lucario aura in her body not only killed her joints, but heightened her own senses, and some basic instinct said there was something fishy going on here. The teen glanced briefly over at Delphi, who had closed ranks and was sticking rather closely next to Pixie, which she found odd. Cerb thought about trying out her new ability to see if she could see this danger, when there was a splashing sound and blurry things flying through the air.

Oi! The fox yipped and jumped, landing on the other side of her trainer behind Alfred to flex her nine tails and bristle. Cerb stopped, tense, as Alfred slid into a more battle ready stance and Sparky crouched on her shoulder, his tail straight and flat. Their attacker seemed to be a Floatzel...a rather disturbing looking Floatzel, too.

"Is it me, or is it really humid?" The teen mumbled before an Arcanine suddenly appeared, tailing the Floatzel. Cerb looked at the trainer riding on its back and couldn't decide if she just wanted to facepalm and start walking away or break out into some Batmanish spiel of indignation. She didn't look to be a Rocket, though... Maybe just a wannabee thief.

Well, she was never known for being bright. Cerb very casually raised one hand and flipped her antagonist the bird, which seemed to be something of a signal for Sparky. The Pikachu lunged in a yellow blur, shooting off her shoulder and into the air before he flipped and swung his tail around. Water swirled all along the length of it, before being flung off in a wide wave that encompassed the clearing. Cerb hadn't expected the attack to do anything about the Floatzel, which was what Delphi was for. The Absol was boosting up, before she aimed for the wet weasel and cracked off a bolt of thunder.

"You finish 'em, Alf," Cerb muttered, reaching for Pixie's ball and withdrawing the fox in the meantime. The Lucario nodded and was gone, off in a rush to deliver some finishing blows in case Sparky or Delphi couldn't do their jobs. Meanwhile, the teen tossed off another ball to reveal an unusual creature: Glalie. Wendigo hovered in the air in front of his trainer, large blue eyes taking in the scene.

"Protect us, Wendigo. I want to check something." With the Glalie as a shield for her returning Pokemon, Cerb closed her eyes and stretched out her abilities. It was like slipping into a dreamlike state, a world of black that made her head throb painfully for a moment as she adjusted. Wendigo was a ball of light blue aura, her Pokemon corresponding elemental colors. The teen stared over at the Floatzel, wondering if she could see what was wrong with the thing this way.

Sparky's leap was the thief's cue to let loose her other pokemon with a laugh, and she shouted what was probably the last thing you wanted to hear right now. "Protect!" The ultra ball split midair to form a hulking mass of stone and muscle that shimmered with a protective field, Sparky's wave crashing against it and shielding the trainer and her firey mount. The Rhydon grinned sadistically from behind his Protect as Alfred harmlessly bounced off of it, cracking his knuckles in preparation for his second attack.

Floatzel didn't bother hiding, and took off through the air and water toward Sparky, a layer of water surrounding his form as he crashed full-force into him. Before either could even land, Floatzel clapped his paws and the water left over from both of their attacks sprung up as if alive to lock Sparky in a swirling Whirlpool. He then landed gracefully on the ground, just in time for Delphi's attack.

Just in time for Delphi's attack to arc right over his head and strike the Rhydon's horn, discharging harmlessly into the ground type's body. He knocked Alfred aside like the Lucario was nothing more than a harmless fly and instead charged for the source of the electricity, the drill-like horn on his head starting to whirl like the real thing.

Good thing that he had horrible aim and Wendigo was there in front of her even if he had managed to get his target. Which he didn't. That seemed to mildly frustrate the trainer, who gestured for water type and rock titan alike to return to her side.

Over in Aura-land, the Floatzel seemed to be, well, a Floatzel, not that you'd spent any time carefully comparing the auras of various Floatzel. There had been nothing done to it at the very least. However, its aura seemed...withdrawn, out of touch with those around it, and flared brightly with a red tinge to it when it attacked or heard the voice of the trainer. Meaning? He's probably a sociopath.

If you looked, you'd find the auras of the other two pokemon on the field normal, though the Arcanine was inexplicably a great deal smaller in aura-vision. Then another pokeball opened, and another aura, one of a mentally-strong fighter, appeared on the field. In normal vision, it was a Gallade, and a very determined-looking one at that.

Wait, what about the trainer's aura? Well, that was when the strange part came in. Bright blue, the woman's body was distinct down to the finest of details, as clear as if looked at with ordinary eyes. She had a very strong aura, and it didn't look borrowed, either. This was not a normal woman.

"Last warning." Her aura darkened as she spoke those two words, and every pokemon on her side of the field, even her Arcanine mount, tensed in preparation to finish this fight. If there was no surrender, they were going in guns blazing.

So you wanna be a master?

Cerb winced and slowly came back to reality, rubbing at her temples a bit as she thought. So the Floatzel was a nutty fucker, the Arcanine wasn't as large inside as he looked, and the other two were normal enough. But the lady was scary shit, and that sure was something. Well, if she wanted to bring her whole family out to play, Cerb could oblige well enough.

"Why do you want my Ninetales, anyway?" She grumbled as she let a Pokeball spill open, revealing the disgruntled cream fox next to her side again. Pixie had her snout wrinkled up, exposing sharp front canines in a frightening grimace. "They're common enough around the place." She sighed, looked at the other Pokemon sliding into their ready stances, and decided there was simply no walking away from this one. Things were gonna get ugly real fast.

"Take 'em from my cold dead hands, bitch." Undoubtedly, hell would start breaking loose now. Cerb gestured to Wendigo, still resuming his role of shield in front of her face. Hopefully the fact that the Rhydon had missed last time meant the Glalie's protective shield was still in perfect working order, so that he could absorb the Floatzel's attack. If not, Cerb knew Wendigo was tough - he could take a hit and roll back from it.

"Guard your friends, my dear." The teen glanced down at Pixie and nodded slightly, cuing the fox to open her mouth and let a ghostly light float out in the weasel's face. Wendigo, in the meantime, opened his own fanged mouth wide and sprayed a vast, harsh gust of biting cold wind and snow at the Rhydon that would hopefully take it right out.

Delphi, keen on getting a hit in while the Glalie was watching her back, zipped off to go say hello to the Arcanine while the Rhydon was otherwise preoccupied with freezing. Have a bath, little mutt, the Absol cackled, blasting a powerful ultrasonic pulse of water at the fire dog. Meanwhile, Pixie gently ruffled her tails and sent a wisp of hot blue fire floating through the air for the Gallade to give it a nasty burn.

Then there was Sparky, suffering in his whirlpool. Cerb looked worriedly over at him, since she didn't have a rapid spinner to clean that mess up. "Not much I can tell ya, old boy. Conserve your strength for now," she paused, looking around to make sure that the Rhydon was suitably frozen and that the Floatzel would be stunned recovering strength from using the Giga Impact. "And zapping that weasel would be nice, actually."

"Pika," the Pikachu burbled from inside his whirlpool prison, floating along in the water for a bit while he wished to himself, before actually bothering to take note of where the Floatzel was and cracking off a bolt of electricity for him. Bothersome weasels.

Thus leaving Alfred next to his trainer, all alone and looking a little confused. What are you thinking about?

"Gonna see how this round plays out. Stay close," Cerb sighed, looking down to Pixie on her other side. The fox still wore her irritated grimace, snarling every now and then.

The thief scoffed at the query, not bothering to dignify it with a response. The woman smoothly dismounted her Arcanine and stood with a confident calm. "Show no mercy," she ordered, and her pokemon surged forward to engage your team.

Delphi shot forward as a black-and-white blur, water attack prepared, and sent the Arcanine crashing to the ground before he could even realize what was in front of him. His trainer recalled him wordlessly with a look of disinterest, one that turned to a smirk as she saw Wendigo's attempt at a Protect sputter and fade and her Floatzel began to speed furiously around, providing a particularly difficult target for Pixie to hit.

The moment he stopped, however, Pixie's ghostly ray struck true, and the Floatzel stumbled and blinked furiously, before giving his head a harsh shake and locking his dull eyes on Pixie. Sparky's silent prayer and Gallade's loud chanting both had their desired effect, though you wouldn't know from the battlefield, since Rhydon took off then, roaring and storming across the forest battlefield toward Delphi. Over two hundred and fifty pounds of stone smashed into her with reckless force, and the Rhydon's arm came down on her head with such a force, it was lucky her blade hadn't snapped.

No permanent damage, but there would probably be complaints of headaches once she was healed.

Turning his attention away from Pixie for the time being and fighting back the disorienting forces of the fox's trickery with sheer willpower, Floatzel rocketed across the field toward Wendigo and slammed his body into the Glalie with bonebreaking force, sending the floating orb of ice into the gound and skidding along it, tearing a gash into the ground as he went until he finally stopped.

Pixie's floating blue fireball zigzagged past Wendigo as he began to hover again, but the Gallade didn't so much as wince in pain as he raised his arm to block it and got badly burned for his trouble.

A blow like that from a pokemon that strong was not pretty, but Wendigo was still standing, metaphorically speaking, and Floatzel was stumbling drunkenly around, almost too exhausted to stand and thoroughly muddled from the confusion he no longer had the strength to muscle past. He and the other remaining pokemon were sitting ducks for the upcoming Blizzard, or would be if their trainer hadn't taken that moment to grasp Floatzel by the wrist and yank him behind her, ignoring his almost comical attempts to gnaw through her jacket sleeve in the mistaken belief that she was the enemy (or edible).

The created winter storm turned the battlefield white, tree branches snapping as the wind howled and snow pounded down on its victims. The trainer was crouched, shielding her Floatzel, but her other two pokemon were not so lucky. Though he stood through the entire ordeal, the moment the onslaught stopped, the Rhydon groaned and dropped like a ton of bricks. His trainer slowly stood up, shivering, and recalled him. Gallade was much better off; if anything, the cold seemed to soothe the pain of his burn somewhat.

Then, just when the woman let go of her precious addled water weasel and lifted her arm to inspect the damage to her coat, there was a loud bzzap! and Floatzel let out a hoarse shout of pain. He dropped to the ground, sparks zapping off his fur, and his trainer looked torn between racing to his side and backing away to avoid being hit by a counterattack.

She settled for turning and locking her gaze on you. She raised an eyebrow at the snarling Pixie, then chuckled darkly. "You're damn determined, I'll give you that much, but I--" Her eyes took on a bright aura-blue glow. "--Don't--" A baseball-size aura sphere formed between her hands. "--Lose!" She hurled the sphere forward, and it sped toward you with perfect accuracy. It hit you right in the stomach, pushing the air from your lungs and knocking you back.

Gallade vanished and appeared behind you, catching you and grasping you in a tight bear hug, a pink glow around his eyes promising extreme mental pain if anyone approached you. His trainer slowly stepped forward, and aura glow around her promising equal pain if anyone got the bright idea to attack her instead. "Now," she said, voice calm and level, "How about you call off your little darlings before Gallade decides to try out his Psycho Cut attack, and we'll call it a draw, hmm? Taking your Ninetales would really be settling for second best, anway."

.5 :gexp (Does Wendigo get any :exp for taking down that Rhydon, Vulpy?)

Well, that went kinda well. Cerb winced when Delphi went down, reaching for her Pokeball to keep the downed Absol from getting trampled further. For some reason, Delphi was always the first to go in a fight. Heavens knew why. At least she had only lost one of her own, and that woman over there wasn't faring quite as well. It was a small consolation.

And then she got an Aura Sphere smack in the stomach. Never saw that coming, no sir.

Cerb made a choking cough sound, doubling over to wheeze and pant when she was suddenly grabbed by a Gallade in a manner that did not suggest a nice hug. She heard Sparky cry out from his whirlpool, which was starting to die down, but still had him trapped enough that he couldn't do anything. Pixie's snarl was bloodcurdling, the fox's nine tails stiff with fluffy wrath.

Pixie - Alfred started, his ears flattening when Cerb weakly motioned with one of her hands for both fox and Lucario to stay.

"Y'know, that's funny." The teen coughed again twice, pausing long enough to get her breath back and look between the Gallade and his trainer. "Considering you're the one that attacked me and everything, it should be you calling off your little beasties." Now with her breathing getting back under control, Cerb whuffed a bit impatiently. "Also, I am not in the mood for pursuing if you run like hell."

Meanwhile, Sparky was putting together another attempt at self recovery in his whirlpool and keeping an eye on the stunned Floatzel in case he needed to knock it out altogether. Wendigo was floating in the air, a bit wobbly and attempting to shake the dirt of his icy body. Cerb was glad for the Glalie's thick ice coating, a testament to how well he could take boosted physical hits.

Also, she was quite ready for this Glalie to let go and gtfo now. Pixie was warily watching in case something funny happened, and the teen was ready to recall the fox as well, with one hand resting on her ball. "So like...bye bye, lady."

0.3 :gexp ((Whoops. Yeah, he does. 1.5 :exp for taking out the Rhydon. 0.7 :exp for Delphi for taking out the Arcanine, too.))

The woman smirked slightly. "Technically, you attacked first. We didn't hurt anyone until you gave orders to your troupe here," she pointed out lazily, seeming in no hurry to give the order to let you go, "But that hardly matters, really. I simply don't take chances. Plenty of people would shoot me in the back as soon as I turned to leave, so I need to take precautions. I don't keep Gallade for his battle skills, after all." She nodded to her fighting type, who grunted and adjusted his grip somewhat, the burn Pixie left on his arm still clear to see.

Floatzel stumbled over and plopped down on the ground next to his trainer, squeezing his eyes shut and grumbling something under his breath. She gave him a concerned glance, then looked to you again. "Fact is, I don't think it would be entirely your decision whether or not your pokemon swarmed me like rabid, starving predators and left me for dead in the woods. Especially your Ninetales. So, do what your hand's hovering over that pokeball in preparation for, and we'll be gone." Gallade looked mildly confused, and just then noticed your being ready to recall Pixie.

That was when Floatzel's Whirlpool broke open and splashed to the ground as ordinary water, at the same time that Sparky's body started to glow with much-needed healing and he made another Wish. The thief idly pulled a Hyper Potion from her coat and sprayed the Floatzel next to her, and he hopped to his feet, only to start swaying woosily, still under the effect of Pixie's Confuse Ray. She looked at the empty bottle thoughtfully, then tucked it away and pulled out a single, diamond-shaped Revive.

"From one Aura-Gifted trainer to another," she said softly, tossing the Revive rather sloppily toward Alfred, since he was the only one with hands not being held captive. "Toss it away if you want," she said, clearly fully expecting some kind of 'I won't take help from you' kind of reply, "But it'd go to better use helping your Absol."

Then she just stood there, waiting for Pixie to recalled, or at least be far enough away to not be able to pounce and rip her throat out. The moment it was done, or the moment whatever staredown that would come from a refusal had gone on long enough, Gallade would let go of you with such swiftness it almost seemed like he was afraid of catching a disease, sprint over to his trainer, grab her by the arm and Floatzel by the neck scruff, and, with a cry of, "Hey, wait, what're you--?" from the woman, would teleport them all out of there.

Seems whatever dramatic exit she had planned wasn't going to happen, but maybe that's for the best.

Cerb wasn't exactly in the mood to get lectured on ethics by the woman who just tried to steal her Pokemon, but it was clearly necessary in order to get some peace and quiet around here again. She did raise an eyebrow a bit and look at the Gallade when he started squishing her sore ribs, taking note of that nice burn Pixie left on him.

"I have better control over Pixie than that. Pixie," Cerb growled, staring pointedly at the back of the Ninetales' head. Pixie grumbled, ears flat as her stiff tails slowly flattened down and out into a comfortable curve once more. Three of them twitched when the whirlpool broke open and Sparky tumbled out, chattering angrily as he shook himself briskly to dry his damp fur.

Since the end was in sight here and Pixie clearly needed to be recalled to fulfill conditions, Cerb zapped the Ninetales back and held her ball inside her hand, just in case. The Gallade dropped her so fast the teen staggered back and fell on her butt, while Alfred blinked and looked at the yellow crystal in his paws. Then there was relative silence in the clearing, broken by Sparky's curious chitter and Wendigo scraping himself on a tree to get mud off his body.

"...so, uh." Cerb coughed painfully once, holding her midsection with her hand as she waited for pain to subside from various bits of her anatomy. Her midsection ached along with her tailbone, and all her joints screamed with raging arthritis aura pain that seemed to be having a field day where the Aura Sphere struck. "That was interesting, eh?"

Alfred just gave her a look, ears flat back. ._. I think you can let Pixie out now.

"I think so too," Cerb produced another Pokeball and tossed both out, one forming into the indignant Ninetales and the other into a prone Absol. "Just crush the revive in her mouth, Alf. She should come around."

She's gonna bite my paw off. The Lucario cautiously padded over, giving the gem a quick squeeze before stuffing the powder in Delphi's mouth and dashing away. Presently the Absol swallowed, then just laid there looking rather blearily at the tree canopy.

Freakin' ow. Tell me you got the number of that train.

"Frozen into a popsicle," Cerb commented idly, rooting around in her bag for a moment to produce a Hyper Potion and liberally empty the contents all over Delphi, focusing mostly on her head. The Absol's tail thwapped weakly a few times before she rolled over and plopped her head down on her paws.

I didn't actually get my head split open, did I?

"No, somehow. It sounded like it, though." Cerb held up Delphi's Pokeball, holding it near her nose. "Time for another nap?"

Oyesplz. The Absol prodded it with a paw and got sucked back up for yet another blissful nap. With that sorted, Cerb looked around at her other four Pokemon out. Pixie and Alfred were fine, Sparky on the way to being fine, and Wendigo still hurting. He could fix himself, though, he'd just make everyone else miserable in the process.

"So... you two back for now, so you don't get popsicle'd." The teen chucked balls at the Lucario and Ninetales to recall them too, then took Sparky onto her shoulder and reached into her pack for her hat. "Wendigo, stop that. You're clean enough."

The Glalie rumbled, rolling off the tree to float back to his trainer as Cerb painfully stood up and took her bearings on where they currently were. "Alright, I think I know where I'm goin' now... Sparky, you should go in my coat. 's gonna get real cold," the teen said, glancing up at Wendigo. The Glalie rolled in a circle and clicked his teeth, curious, while Sparky made a departure into jacket land to nestle against Cerb's kidneys. Tugging on her hat and making sure she'd be warm, Cerb looked up at the floating ice ball and said "Hail."

Wendigo grinned like a nut, even as the sky grew darker and chunks of ice rained down from above the trees. Every hunk that hit the Glalie bonded with his icy skin, forming a thicker layer of armor and soothing his hurts. Cerb just huddled deeper into her jacket and pulled her hat down further on her head to start walking again, taking the stormclouds with them.

So the hail that managed to get through the canopy of trees either splattered on Wendigo or beaned Cerby painfully in the head. Hood or not, chunks of rock hard ice was still falling from the sky. So it was kind of unpleasant to have it be raining rocks on you. But, you know, her loss. It was just another thing to add to the long list of pains.

Here comes another!

So they were in a thick forest, yes? Thick forests are hard to get through and have thick trees that block the way. So no doubt at some point or another there's going to be something that's gonna require a little squeezing to get through. This lead Cerby to try and squeeze between the biggest gap between two trees that she could find... and get stuck. With Sparky squishing painfully into her kidneys.

Oh, and Wendigo can't follow you guys either, but that problem is easily solved. The problem that's not so easily solved is that Cerby's stuck between two huge trees. Have fun!

It's a hat, actually. But yes, hats are not much protection against ice chunks. Cerb didn't really expect it to help too much, but it was better than being beaned and not having anything there at all. What didn't help was...getting stuck between trees. Hurr.

"Apparently my shoulders are too wide," she observed dryly, while Sparky made some angry muffled squeaking sounds from her midsection. "Wendigo, help me out here wouldya?"

The Glalie came floating over to grip the back of her jacket in his teeth and pull. It took a second, but eventually there was a POP! sort of sound and Cerb came loose to topple backwards and land on her ass again on the ground, almost getting a piece of hail to the nose in the process. Now free, she rubbed her face a bit and stared at the space between these trees, thinking.

"Well, it stands to reason that if I can't go through in a forward position..." The teen slowly stood up and brushed her butt off, before standing sideways perpendicularly to the tree gap. "I'm much thinner this way, at least."

"Glay," Wendigo observed, prodding at her backpack with one of his horns, and then Sparky near her kidneys. The Pikachu made some angry outraged noises back at the Glalie, as Cerb pondered this observation.

"This is very true, good sir. I agree with these observations." Taking off her backpack, the teen proceeded to roughly stuff it through the trees sideways until it squished through and dropped onto the ground. "Now you go back in your ball Sparky, and you too Wendigo. You're too fat to fit." The Glalie pouted at her, clicking his jaws sulkily. Wasn't his fault he was a giant four foot ball of floating ice, blame Arceus for that. Cerb felt for their Pokeballs and zapped the two back, before proceeding to squish herself through the tree gap to rejoin her backpack on the other side.

"It's a good thing I'm flat," she mumbled to herself in the process, hopefully popping right through to splat onto the ground on the other side, where she could collect her backpack, release Wendigo again to restart the Hail cycle, and go bopping right along.

On the off chance she was just too fat to fit, well... That's what we keep Rage for. >.>

So...

Cerby was just too fat to fit. Even going sideways, the tree seemed to squeeze her in. Well, it didn't look like she was going anywhere now. And, what was worse, in all her wiggling, she had managed to get her hand stuck. Which hand? The hand that she could reach her Pokeballs with. So now, she was really shit out of luck. Now, she could do nothing but be stuck there, hoping that nobody would come along and steal her Pokemon or something equally horrible. Oh, wait, was that the roar of a bear I just heard? That would solve her stuck problem real quick like, as in there would be no more living.

No, I'm just kidding, she managed to cram herself through after a bit of wiggling and squishing and she did faceplant into the ground. Oh that sucks. It's not so bad, though.

Because, remember that bear I mentioned? Yeah, that part was real. Not only was it real, it was right fucking there. I'm talking a few feet here.

So there was a bear.

"Ohshit a bear," not conducive to traveling and way too close for her comfort. Cerb scrambled up, pack in one hand and popping off a ball in the other to release Sparky back into the fold. The Pikachu hit the ground, smelling his problem seconds before seeing him. There was a way to deal with this problem, but Sparky wasn't exactly strong enough to solve it in one hit. Cerb was hoping he'd buy some time and space instead as she scrambled the heck backwards to get some breathing room.

Sparky, meanwhile, took a running leap and flipped in the air to slash at the bear hard with his tail, cracking the edge of it through the air like a whip. Cerb winced at the noise, releasing two more of her Pokemon to aid Sparky in his quest. One was Wendigo, who needed to resume healing shortly with his hail therapy, and the other was Alfred for obvious reasons. The Lucario stared at the Ursaring that Sparky was trying to hack to bits with his tail, ears lying back slightly. Oh c'mon.

"Just stand behind the icy meatshield and bomb it," Cerb sighed, as Sparky came flailing his way back to his trainer after being a wonderful yellow distraction, hopping up to cling to her arm and chitter. Alfred grumbled a bit, slowly calling up a blue sphere into his paw with a small grunt; that he lobbed for the bear after it had assumed the size of a decent softball. Cerb watched his technique curiously, the Lucario didn't actually seem to call the aura blobs up very easily. Alfred only lobbed two before whuffing tiredly and dismissing the blue fire, his tail drooping down near his knees.

"Get ready to run if it...doesn't drop, for whatever reason," though Cerb was rather hoping it dropped. Wendigo needed to get on with his healing in peace, and she would rather not have bears chasing her all through the woods on the way to the swamp.

First thing that happened as the bear stared fiercely at his soon-to-be dinner, a shield was thrown up by the most weary. He eyed the glacier with anger and felt his lips wrinkle. The ground below the trainer and her pokemon shook in fear as the intimidating bear took a steady step forward. He seemed clearly set on claiming one or two of the pint-sized pokemon as his appetizer, but he would only be truly pleased if he had a human to go along as the main course. The bloodthirsty look in his eye refused to leave as he stared straight at the trainer, as if saying that he would bypass any obstacle to make sure she was his centerpiece.

A pikachu rushed forward, thrashing the bear near his shoulder with a heavy, hammer-like tail. The ursaring leaned into the attack, feeling it bruise his flesh, he roared out in agony. Swiping his massive claws diagonally, in his blind rage, he swatted the glacier from his path, slashing clean through the warm flesh of the pokemon stationed behind. The lucario flew side ways, displacing the snow as he met the ground. Upon closer inspection, he would not move. The slash down his chest was too much.

Again, the pikachu turned his attack to the ursaring, slamming the other shoulder this time. Not nearly as blind with rage, the massive bear caught the mouse in a sideswipe, tossing the pikachu into the snow some ways off. Quickly, the yellow mouse rose to his tiny feet once more, staring down the enemy, though hurt in more ways that he could imagine.

The bear blinked, feeling faint as well. Unlike his enemies, he was losing a fair amount of blood from his shoulders, even if it could not be seen. Although hidden under a dense layer of fur, the once pale skin grew dark shades of purple, tinted by that sick shade of greenish yellow that accompanies really bad bruises. Ursaring shook his head and bellowed. This was not their battle to be won.
