Party: Charmander/Messoria, Level 14 ![]() Taillow, Level 9 ![]() Sableye/Onyxia, Level 7 ![]() Skarmory/Excalibur, Level 11 ![]() Aerodactyl/Volatilus, Level 21 ![]() Golduck/Crescendium, Level 33 ![]() APL: 15.8 This seemed familiar. Well, not the "hi, take these balls and throw them at things for points" bit. The "I got drunk and wandered into this zombie apocalypse!" one. As a matter of fact, she was still drunk. A hazy memory revealed itself in the form of a similar situation, but with crop circles and floating things. What were the floating things? Flying lolis? Well, it wasn't too important. If Arell kept her hands busy right now she wouldn't feel stupid or like she had done something she'd regret when she became sober and hungover again. Her Poketech had informed her that the grand, glorious plan of this important Brightopolis guy to get the Pokemon out of the cities was not, in fact, something logical, like a mass distribution of gas masks and then dropping an aerosolized tranquilizer. Presumably, that was prohibitively expensive and impossible to properly dose everything; too strong, and the smaller creatures would die, but too weak, and the larger ones would be uneffected. A catching contest still seemed like a...strange way to solve the problem, but given that a lot of trainers seemed to be small prepubescent brats, it was probably one of the few things that would hold their attention. And they didn't charge 10z an hour for their work, and there were a lot of them, and-- --my, her brain was talkative when drunk. With itself, no less. Arell shook her head in an attempt to clear the cobwebs in it, and looked around--really looked--for what seemed the first time. The day was a few hours away from settling into dusk, late afternoon-ish. It was substantially cooler outside, and the sky was scrubbed clean of all but the most vestigial clouds. Messoria was at her feet, instead of on her shoulder; the lizard seemed much more...antsy than usual. Easily agitated, but never really hostile. Always hopping back and forth, as her body optimized itself for evolution--the PokeRUS didn't help, either. The rest of her team was safely in her pockets--zipped up pockets. She still hadn't gotten one of those fancy holsters. Arell did have her shotgun out, fully assembled, and slung over her shoulder--but the cops had taken all of her tungsten and lead shells and replaced them with...rubber slugs and beanbags. Because, clearly, a beanbag in the eye was better than birdshot in the foot. They said they'd give them back once the contest was over, but Arell was still a little irritated. That double-0 tungsten shot was expensive. But, the contest wouldn't finish itself! ...well, yes it would, it had an arbitrary time limit on it, somewhere. But she had some free pokeballs to waste first. Time to see how well she threw a curve ball when drunk! Edited by Arell, Nov 7 2009, 11:26 PM.

0.3 ![]() Time for a curve ball indeed. There were many things in this city, for example... snakes. Monkeys. Giraffes. Lizards. Fish. Flying rocks. And... some kind of... heck, I don't even know how to class it. Some kind of turtle thing, maybe, since it reminds me of a really skinny and ugly turtle. Anyway! Arell and her posse were happily walking along, as they tended to do. Kookymander, still being kooky as far as I can tell (and I can tell many things for I am a super moderator. Not a supermoderator, a super moderator.) and that is always appreciated when I can do strange things in my mods relating to Messoria. Like always, right? Right. Along came a Let's try that sentence again. Along came a turtle who sat down on her foot, eating her shoe. Yes. That's far more accurate to the message that I wish to convey here, so let us do that. Were Arell to look down at her feet, she would see the shelled form that is a Shuckle, attempting to devour a shoelace. It didn't look particularly big or threatening, probably just hungry from all the crazy Pokémon killing each other and taking all the food. So it needed some food, and hissed at Messoria some, as if it was angry that the shoe would be taken away. Poor little hungry Shuckle. It needs a face full of claw. ----- ![]() Lv. 15, 30/30

.3 ![]() To say that Messoria was a little disquieted by the mold-shellfish's appearance--as was her usual response--was a massive understatement at this time. The golden lizard exploded forwards into action once her attention fastened on the Shuckle, flinging her body at the creature's shell like a guided missile. She didn't give as much as a warning hiss--only snarled, terribly. She smashed into it with her bony chest, and immediately brought her forearms down to slash at the thing. And while Messoria did her best to give the creature a face full of claws, they didn't seem to be doing enough fast enough to satisfy the bloodthirsty part of her brain that had come to the fore. So, in addition to claws--the Shuckle got flames. A stream of fire erupted from the Charmander's jaws, her once delicate throat now hardened to the flame. In all the time this took place--a handful of seconds--Arell had time to look down and then jump and flail and squeal like a little girl to avoid having her pants set on fire. A scorching heat washed dangerously near her foot anyway, and if she was any more soaked today the residual alcohol floating on her would have ignited. Instead, she just fell on her ass, with one shoe halfway to being untied and a frayed, slobbery looking shoelace. Arell had seen a few Meowth fight before. Why fights between girls were called catfights were beyond her (she prefered decking people with haymakers)--Meowth were ridiculously fast in mauling the shit out of each other. Her Charmander's explosive response was very like. "Uh--hey! Messoria! Try putting a Flamethrower into one of the holes in its shell!" Unnervingly, the Charmander didn't turn to look at Arell to indicate her attention--but she did as suggested. Fire crawled out over her sharp little teeth--growing teeth--cored with white this time, and spitting sparks. "...angry little thing." Well, she hadn't fought anything lately--maybe physical exertion would let her blow off some steam and calm down. Maybe. :scharmander ![]() Lv. 14, 28/28 - 2 - 2 - 3-Growl >> Tackle + Scratch >> Flamethrower x2 (very angry lizard!) vs. ![]() Lv. 15, 30/30 ![]() -Eetin mah shoe! |

.3 (Ugh. Mein apologies. I somehow missed this the last few times I was looking around for unmoddeds.) The shuckle looked relatively unperturbed by the growl, all things considered. But then, when your attacking power is WORSE than a weedle's...yeeeah. Direct damage is not what you do. No. The bug simply withdrew into it's shell, pulling as much of Arell's shoelace in with him, letting the attacks bounce of his tough shell. And there's the other thing that sucks about shuckles, at least when you're facing off against one. Their defenses are THROUGH THE ROOF. The bug waits out the claws and slamming and ohyesdie rage, only reacting when Messoria finally pulls out her real arsenal and starts cooking the thing in the shell. Then again, it had been glowing a bit since the charmander had started trying to claw its way through the hard shell, and then the glow exploded, knocking the fire lizard away, though not before another burst of flames washed over the insect-thing's body, and it squealed again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ![]() Lv. 15 15/30 - +1 DEF - -1 ATK ~ Withdraw + Bide vs. :scharmander ![]() Lv. 14 16/28 Teeth and noise and claws and fire, oh my! |

.3 (It's all good :3 )"OW!" While Arell was busy snipping off the end of her shoelace before her entire shoe came off (she had more string), her Charmander was bowled away onto her back and off of the crustacean...turtle...jello thing. The lizard rolled to her feet and stood on all fours, tail lashing angrily behind her. The air became noticeably warmer, though not by too much. Stalking back out of immediate smack range, Messoria bobbed her head a little bit, like a bird, as if trying to gauge the distance to the Shuckle. When sufficiently satisfied she was out of range of whateverthatwas the thing did to her, the Charmander reared up onto her hind legs and spat a line of fire out of her mouth. Arell had been fumbling around in her backpack all this time for one of those Park Balls and some replacement shoelace and only looked up when the prickling heat on her face stopped. "...calm the fuck down already," the trainer said, scowling a little. She tossed the ball at the mold-worm-tentaclething with a little bit more force than was probably necessary. The Charmander snorted, and a curl of residual fire puffed out of her nostrils. :scharmander ![]() Lv. 14 16/28 -Flamethrower, then Arell vs. ![]() Lv. 15 15/30 - +1 DEF - -1 ATK Edited by Arell, Nov 14 2009, 05:59 PM.

0.3 ![]() So when Arell's little kookymander cast fireball on the Shuckle, it retreated into its shell some more, being burned and stuff because fire is bad for the skin. And fire into holes onto soft, tender body is extra-bad. And thusly it developed the Burned status oh no! But casting magic missile is good. As is throwing a Park Ball. And then turning Shuckle into a ball of light, letting the little capsule roll around for a little bit, hearing some ding noise and watching said capsule turn into a flash of light and vanish into thin air is extremely good, right? Hooray! You gots a Shuckle! Go you and such! Now go find more pokeymans before I throw a shoe at you. ----- :scharmander gains .5 ! ![]() Lv. 15, 10/30 ![]() - +1 DEF, -1 ATK - Burned - Captured! .2 ![]() After some splicing and nifty mall ninja paracord tricks, Arell had something of a functional shoelace again and could walk without fear of tripping and making a dumbass of herself. Messoria had begun to pounce forwards onto the ball after the timer pinged off, but the capsule disappeared into a wisp of white light before she got there. The Charmander squawked and landed rather awkwardly where the ball used to be, lifting up her feet to make sure it wasn't hiding under one of them. The lizard made a quizzical noise, but seemed to have calmed down a bit. When Arell stood up, Messoria looked over her shoulder and promptly scuttled over to her now usual spot at her side without too much protest. "It seems I'll just have to wear you out whenever you have a tantrum like that." Messoria made an indignant squalling noise. "...well then, don't pitch fits like that." -SEARCHING SEARCHING |
