Justice in a CATCHING contest?!; Darucho's Catching contest thread

As the blue-clad figure of Darucho Trio walked around the streets of Brightopolis, having signed on for the 'catching contest' the mayor had organized - he couldn't help but shake his head a little to himself as he travelled in that laid-back sort of walk (yet of course, he was tense and reasy to have his pok'emon help him if he needed to) around the place: what did this mayor think the people here WERE, idiots? Oh yeah, go capture the pok'emon wandering around here! Beat them almost to a pulp as you did so - it was all fuuun! Darucho let out a short sigh after these sarcastic thoughts: really, the poor pok'emon had probably invaded the cities because they'd had no choice at all in the matter - I mean really, had they asked to be infected with Pok'erust? Had they asked to be driven away like monsters out of their hones and forced to reside in human cities like this? Darucho was willing to be his favourite scarf they hadn't - and yet the mayor had quite obviously decided to 'deal' with this whole shindig in the easiest way possible. Not necessarily the most just or nice way: just the quickest and the easiest. The spiky-haired one felt so sorry for the infected poke'mon right now it wasn't funny: their minds had been infected by a madness, alreayd making them irritable and less likely to accept 'peaceful' negotiations, and now a bunch of trainers were going about the place: battling them and trying to just shove them into Park Balls? It made him wonder just how SMART the mayor here WAS, honestly. Darucho had heard wind of this, and had decided to come here himself - but his motives for comming here were not to just shove pok'emon into orbs and get to keep one at the end of it.

He wanted to try and do the wild pok'emon here a kindness - okay, so he only got to keep ONE at the end of it - but if he could perhaps befriend that one pok'emon he got to keep and be kind to it, maybe it would make them feel that humanity was not so much of a jerk as it had probably made itself out to be in these times - what with the pok'erust going around and all. He wouldn't even force the pok'emon to stay if it didn't want to: but he'd give it a nice feed, heal it up: really try and show it some kindness if it did decide to go after the contest. A little bit of kindness cold go a long way - and even if it didn't work, Darucho just wanted to be kind to at least ONE infected pok'emon here: they'd suffered enough in his opinon. Thus - he had signed onto this contest with a determination: the same determination that he had in every single one of his dreams and travels. As he walked along the streets, Mia and Diego were flying close to him, both birds keeping a sharp eye out for any pok'emon that might try to attack their trainer Apollo was hovering overhead Darucho, his naive mind not understanding WHAT Mia and Diego were looking for - but he wanted to help too, and so was on gaurd too. Vera, meanwhile, was safely secured in Darucho's backpack - the huamn had no intention of making her do any battles, especially when she was so timid and vunerable, so she was just sitting there as a sort of 'silent watcher' right now: though she felt a little scared at the moment, she wanted to support Darucho in this idea of his too - even if she wasn't going to actually battle. With his pok'emon travelling near him, the spiky-haired Darucho decided to go see if there were any alleyways or shadowy places nearby - if a pok'emon wanted to hide in this city, those would be good places to start looking, logically. He just hoped that he'd actually find something...

You walked around the city, angry at the mayor for organizing this injustice that is called the Pokemon Catching Contest. If the virus had not been spread, then none of this would be happening! If the trainers had not been hunting these poor Pokemon out of their habitats, none of this would be happening! It got so bad that the Pokemon were forced to hide out in the city. Behold the cruelty of humanity!

A lone howl interrupted your thoughts. You look behind you. Nothing. You were certain that it came behind you. Convinced that there is something watching you, you look back to where you were previously looking at and you spot a green blur rushing towards you. It let out another howl, blood rushing at the thought of mauling you to pieces. Better act fast.

Though Darucho searched as fervently as he possibly could do to try and locate a wild pok'emon, it seemed the city was creepily empty seeming for now. The spiky-haired trainer didn't trust that, though: knowing the nature of those poor infected creature's minds, they were probably in hiding, watching the humans passing by angrily and just waiting for a chance to strike. Unfortunately, though Darucho was an easy-going sort of trainer who would rather sort things out peacefully than fight, he knew that with the Pok'erust infected pok'emon, that probably was not and would never be an option. Such was the madness gripping them that they probably would not listen to common sense - especially if it came from a human. Darucho wouldn't really blame the infected pok'emon for hating people as much as they did and trying to maul them, considering all the crap they'd been through recently. Diego had been a little like that before capture - but because the blue-clad trainer had shwoed the infected Taillow so much respect and kindness, he had decided to stay. However, meeting Diego had been like a warning to Darucho of what was to come here against all these infected creatures: there was no choice but to battle and give it your all against them, even if you sympathised with their predicamant. These thoughts aside, the spiky-haired one continued moving - that was, until a lone howl made him stop in his tracks.

Darucho paused - he was sure that sound had come from behind him. Was there a dog pok'emon following him or something? He swiftly turned around to look, but upon looking behind him, he saw nothing there. Suddenly, a sharp warning chirp from Mia swiftly made him turn again back to where he was previously looking to see a green canine-like pok'emon he didn't recognize rushing towards him, howling in a ferocious manner as it did so, eyes glinting with obvious murderous intent. Darucho said to the pok'emon, "I'm sorry...I really don't want ta have to do this, but I gots no CHOICE! Apollo, stop him running this way, quick!" The Dustox nodded, suddenly fluttering forward and flapping his wings energetically, firing lots of purple needles from them as he flapped - Posion Sting. The Dustox wouldn't give the dog any time to recover after this move, instantnly making his eyes glow a spooky purple after firing the needles, sending a wave of psychic energy at the dog - Confusion. Darucho plucked a Park Ball from his pocket - hopefully the two moves that Apollo used (which both had chances of causing a status problem) would lower the dog's hp enough so he could catch it. But if the dog still seemed high in health after Apollo's attempted attacks, he would gesture for Diego to go in, the Taillow attempting to use his reliable Focus Energy and Air Slash combonation so that the dog's health WOULD be lowered enough to catch.

Ooh, poison needles. Ever considered making your Dustox a ninja? Those poison needles would be perfect in a ninja's arsenal.

Anyways, POISON NEEDLES!

The electric dog saw the attack coming as he charged, and swerved away to avoid the poison needles. But your Dustox was not finished! Using his psychic powers, the moth guided the needles to their intended target. Said target let out a sharp cry of pain as the needles make their mark on him. This was followed by the dog being lifted, and flung onto the ground, effectively halting his advance just as you wanted.

He was not done yet! As he stared the moth with murderous intent, electricity burst forth from his green frame and shot out towards the moth. The moth fell down to the ground, paralyzed. The Electrike seized this moment to close in for the kill.

He was interrupted, however, by cutting winds. He tumbled on the ground, unable to attack for the moment. Your move.

You threw the ball at the Electrike. The dog disappeared in a flash of red light, then the ball closed. It fell to the ground with a clatter.

LET THE SUSPENSE BEGIN!

The ball burst open, revealing the dog who is recovering from the shock of feeling those cutting winds, and is now eying the Taillow.

Darucho had been quick to give his moth compainon commands on what seemed the best thing to do in such a situation as this, that was certainly true: for once, it seemed his somewhat hasty demanour was comming in handy - however, though the blue-clad trainer was quick, the unfammilar green pok'emon was quicker - seeing the Dustox fire the many posioned needles at it and swerved quickly to the side before continuing it's charge. The spiky-haired trainer clenched a fist in fustration - if this infected pok'emon was able to just slip to the side and evade attacks so easily, then he and his pok'emon would probably have to change their battle strategy: it had moved so fast it almost seemed a blur then. Therefore, logically - it was understandable that the trainer think that normal moves probably wouldn't do much in this case. However, Apollo (despite being naive at times) was not the type to give up easily, the moth focusing intently with the psychic powers that his Confusion lent him - making the needles suddenly turn off their current path and slam into the dog anyway. Though the wild had dodged the needles before...it obviously wasn't expecting the dual-type to try something like that, judging by how swiftly the psychic-guided 'posion missles' had hit their target. The Dustox then quickly followed this up by using the remainder of his charged psychic energy to life the wild pok'emon up and fling it back down to the earth - effectively stopping the pok'emons blood-lust rampage towards Darucho.

Sadly, though Darucho hoped they wouldn't have to prolong this fight for too long and just do more damage to this poor creature - the pok'emon was not down quite yet, getting back up and glaring at Apollo hatefully before shooting out sudden sparks from his fur - this surprising both Darucho and Apollo: the human had no idea that he was dealing with an electric-type here. Apollo's surprise meant the waved of electricity hit him head on, and he fell to the ground, wincing as he felt his muscles lock up. He tried to get his wings flapping again, but though his body heard this command, it couldn't go through with it at all: the dog had paralyzed him. Darucho reached for the moth's pok'eball worriedly as the dog advanced, a murderuous sort of gleam in it's eyes - he didn't want his friend to get mauled out there - but was halted in this movement when Diego made his move, flapping his own wings vigourosly and sending blades of sharp air at the pup, whom stumbled back from the blow. The pok'emon seemed to want to get back up and retaliate, but seemed to be having the same problems moving as Apollo did - Air Slash had made the wild flinch! Taking this big chance, Darucho quickly tossed a Park ball at the pup - who was drawn into the contraption with a flash of red light before the orb closed: but sadly, Diego and Apollo's moves seemed to have not done quite enough work to weaken the wild enough so it could be caught, the ball bursting open in a flash of light: the dog re-appearing and seeming to glare at Diego.

Darucho was a little dissapointed by this set-back, but he wasn't going to give up until he CAUGHT this dog - he wanted at least, to catch ONE pok'emon here and help it, even IF it was an electric-type and could basically wipe out the majority of his flying-oreintated team if it had the chance to. If he wanted to catch it, he'd have to work fast: just a little more damage, and maybe he'd be able to suceed in the capture attempt! Turning to Diego, he said, "Go for a double slash, buddy! If that's not enough to lower the dog's health enough so that I can have a good chance of sucessfully catching it, Apollo will back you up!" The Taillow began flapping his wings so fast they seemed just a blur - litteratly kicking up a small tornado made of slashing winds which would hopefully head towards that dog...this move couldn't miss.

The thing about Taillow is the speed advantage it had over most young pokemon. This advantage came into effect over Electrike, as well. The Air Slash's came, but the small electric type shrugged off the majority of the damage. Unfortunately for the Electrike, the attacks secondary effect came into play. For some reason or another, it couldn't for the life of him muster up enough will to fight back.

This left things wide open for the winged bug to handle. Despite its paralysis, Confusion came and went, sending even more doubt into the Electrike's mind. This made the capture all the easier, as the ball locked with the small green thign inside.

Though Diego was determined to sally forth and do a lot of damage to this dog (despite it having a clearly obvious type advantage over him), though his whirling tornado of cutting winds slammed into it's target with little noticeable problems - it seemingly didn't do as much damage as Daruchi would have liked, even with it's high flinch factor, the fact that it was normally a powerful move and now it had a high chance of scoring a critical due to the Taillow's Focus Energy. The Taillow scowled a little at noting this fact, feeling a little fustrated that the most powerful of his moves wouldn't do much to this foe due to sheer type matchups: however, his expression brightened just a little upon seeing that, although the small dog had shrugged off the majority of the damage, Air Slash's secondary affect had come into play yet again, making the pup tempoararily incapable of doing anything. Now he realized why Darucho had asked him to use the move twice, as unreliable damage-wise against electric types as it was. The secondary affect created huge openings battle and capture wise when it worked, that was certain. Apollo noted the opening easily (as naive as he was) and promptly sent another wave of psychic energy the dog's way despite being Paralyzed, the purple glow slamming into the wild in seemingly a heavy manner. Darucho pumped a fist at seeing this, a big grin on his face at seeing his compainon's combos had worked so well - but wasted little time in throwing a second Park Ball at the dog before it could recover from the onslaught of attacks. Again, the candy cane shaded orb transformed the electric-type tempoararily into energy and sucked it inside. Darucho, Diego and Apollo all waited tensely as the orb rocked - but this time the orb stopped shaking after a few moments and let out a soft 'ding' to signify a capture.

The blue-clad trainer retrieved the orb, still beaming - putting the Park Ball tempoararily in his pocket for now. This was great - he'd caught at least one wild pok'emon to be cured of the virus. Turning to Apollo and Diego, he gave them a thumbs-up, saying, "You guys did awesome, thanks! Let's keep looking, okay?" Both pok'emon nodded before returning to their orginal spots flying close to Darucho (though Apollo's flight seemed quite erratic now due to the fact he was paralyzed), the blue-clad human now continuing his walk determinedly. Catching one pok'emon was fine, but...he wanted to help as many pok'emon get over this accursed 'madness' as possible, and thus - the more pok'emon he caught, the better for that purpose: though he felt bad that he could only keep one and show it kindness, but oh well. All things had their good and bad points in life, did they not? Now, Darucho was still headed to the alleyways like he had been before that green dog tried to maul him - as logically, one would find more pok'emon hiding there than out in the open. He'd heard some kinds of birds (when they lived in the cities) liked to hang out there, too - and having the respect for flying-types that he did: he wanted to try and help at least one of them before this contest ended. It would be disgraceful, in his honest opinon - to have such a respect for Flying-types and not actively try to save one in the city from this madness. Darucho hoped that he might be able to cocre some of the infected 'mons peacefully to let themselves be caught: he didn't really like having to beat up these wilds, even if it was for their own good. But - with the knowledge of what Pok'erust did to a pok'emon's mind, it was highly doubtful. He was still willing to give it a shot if it looked like it could possibly be used and work, though. Obviously, situations like the one just a few seconds ago - where that green dog had run out at him with clear murderous intent - would require nothing more than battling your way through it. Darucho might be a little simple-minded to consider trying kindness here: but he wasn't an idiot.

There were all kinds in this city.

There were Water-types, closer to the seas and the docks that dotted this city, where Trainers could try their hand at catching any of the creatures that lay in wait there. There were the land-based Pokmon, which were numerous and varied, all roaming the city's streets in order to find some new prey - humans, each other, whatever. This virus was crazy. And then there were the flyers. The aerial assassins. They were too fast for most to see, let alone catch.

Speaking of which.

A bird, small, ready to fight, hovering somewhere nearby; the wingflaps could be heard, but its location could not be discerned quickly. That was always a pain in the neck.

Actually, no. A pain in the neck was the fact Darucho just got divebombed by this bird, beak-first, on the lower sections of the head, close to the neck. Man, that was going to hurt for a hell of a long time. Probably going to bleed, too.

At least your foe could be seen now, flapping its wings right in front of your face.

As Darucho roamed around the alleyways, his keen eyes trying to pinpoint any sign - any little hint that flying-types were here and he might be able to help one of them: he couldn't help but shake his head a little to himself. This whole contest seemed like the wrong idea entirely of going about 'helping' these poor infected pok'emon: he'd seen the way that unfamiliar green pok'emon had charged him on sight - and he'd had no choice but to battle it in order to defend himself, for crying out loud! He didn't really blame the creature, though - all those pok'emon from the wild, being forced out of house and home by people because of this virus spreading like a malignant disease. They might have had to leave everything they loved and cared about behind: had to say goodbye to close friends and family, even. And yet, even though they had fled to the cities to try and get away from all that crap: they still were chased down by humans. Most of which just attacked right away and shoved them into orbs without any regard for how THEY felt at all. Darucho looked at the Park ball that held his newest capture - he hadn't wanted to attack, but really: could a pok'emon that had such an obvious murderous intent be reasoned with, logically? He didn't think so. However - he hoped that the mayor (as dumb as his idea was) would hold fast to his promise of 'curing' any infected pok'emon one caught in this contest: that way, the pok'emon wouldn't have to worry about that mad disease ruining their lives anymore. They could return to 'normal' life, hopefully. So, in a way - Darucho knew he was trying to catch as many pok'emon as he could not for greed: but for their own good. Maybe even once the pok'emon weren't infected, they would be more responsive to kindness and logic? He hoped so. They'd probably been through enough already. Suddenly, his musing thoughts were cut short as he heard a sound he found very familiar - that of wings flapping. Ah, if he heard wings flapping, there must be a bird pok'emon nearby!

However, though Darucho scanned the area around him quickly, he saw now sign of where the sound might be coming from. The spiky-haired one sighed: maybe he was just being overly hopeful and hearing things? Then another unexpected thing happened - it was so fast that the pok'emon hovering about Darucho to 'protect him' from onslaughts were even taken by surprise. Darucho suddenly felt a sharp jabbing near his neck that felt like someone had driven a sharp short spear into it and dug it in as deep as possible out of spite, the spiky-haired trainer letting out a cry of anguished pain: jeez Louis, that HURT! Shaking his head slightly, he tenitavly reached to the back of his neck and felt blood trickling down from a rather large cut - like he'd just been dive-bombed by something. His mind then realized what had happened - there WAS a flying-type around here, but on seeing him, it had expected him to be like all the other jerk-arse trainers and thus attacked him. Rubbing the now agonizingly aching wound with his right arm, he looked in front of him and jumped a little at seeing the pok'emon was right in front of him now. He should have expected a bird to be quick, given how much he respected them and all. Mia looked shocked that the bird had attacked her trainer like that and they hadn't been able to do anything, hanging her head in shame. That bird could have done Darucho some real hurt, and they wouldn't have been able to do NOTHING but stand there...! Darucho noted his friend's sadness and said to her, "Don't blame yourself, Mia...it's a given that infected pok'emon would try to attack us humans, given how much jerkiness they've had to put up with from our kind lately..."

Darucho turned his attention to the bird, saying, "I understand why you did that, yeah. but I don't want to fight you unless I have no choice...you look pretty awesome, just like any other flying-type. I know you probably hate humans and have no reason to believe my words...but I honestly want to help out here. If I was like all the others - I would have attacked right away instead of trying to talk to ya like this. I'll only attack you if you give me no choice in the matter - i'm willing to try and soilve things kindly, peacefully, if you want. What say you?" Diego marveled - though he'd been atatcked, Daruicho was trying to be kind and logical rather than attack - probably naievly thinking that since the brid had landed one hit in, it would be happy with that and not atatck again: maybe even be willing to listen. He was quite brave, this human: but Diego knew what the madness of Pok'erust could do to you, all too well. Thus, he was going to attack the bird the INSTANT he saw it try and attack Darucho again - he wasn't about to let this wild get another 'free shot' in on the Darucho - not on his watch. Mia seemed just as ready to attack if Darucho's attempt to make Starly come along peacefully failed, tensing and ready to strike should she need to.

Currently: A little sad that seemingly every pok'emon is going to try and attack and obviously not give kindness or logicality a chance - but seeing as he has no choice but to defend himself if he doesn't want to be attacked AGAIN, seemingly, he has asked Mia and Diego to defend him if his 'talk' with the Starly doesn't work (which he doubts it will). If the bird seems weak enough after Mia and Diego's attacks, he will throw a Park Ball.

Diego :taillow :ml

Currently: Waiting for Diego to attack first, and after he does so, she will attempt to knock down Starly's health to a capturable-point with Air Slash if Starly doesn't listen to Darucho's reasoning. If Air Slash isn't enough to weaken the Starly to a manageable point, she will follow this up with Gust.

It was an honorable thing you tried to do speaking with the Starly in that friendly manner. Starly slowly circled your head. He had seen what you had done to the Electrike, in fact Starly saw everything. From his vantage point nothing got by this bird. He knew the trainers were back in the cities and rounding up his fellow Pokemon. For what purpose Starly could only guess. But he knew you were part of it and maybe you were different, Starly didn't know. All Starly knew was he was angry and humans had chased him from his home. And he wanted vengeance.

"Star!" Starly screeched before he again charged you. This time however your Pokemon were ready. Diego sprang into action and darted into the Starly knocking him away before he could do you much harm. Starly was weakened but managed to retaliate with a Quick Attack before Mia moved in delivering a nasty Air Slash. The Starly fell to the ground and staggered to rise. Yet he was too weak and before he knew it had been sucked up inside one of those balls, just like all the other Pokemon he'd seen captured.

The ball trembled a few moments before proclaiming the success of the capture with a loud ding.

:gexp = 0.2 (Out of character note: It's okay, I don'tmind. As long as my thread gets an update occasionaly, i'm happy.)

Though Darucho was indeed not lacking in courage to try speaking in a calm and rational manner with the bird, little did he know that the avian had seen his battle with the Electrike and seen what had been done to it - though Darucho had only attacked it because it had been about to maul him, in all fairness. He hadn't really had any choice then - but he thought he might have a shot now, despite the fact he was still holding the back of his neck where the bird had struck him with that dive-bombing manuvre. Being the laid-back friendly guy he was, he'd really perfer that than a fight: but if the bird tried to strike again, Darucho sadly knew that like his battle with the Electrike: he'd have no choice but to retaliate. He wasn't silly, after all. The Starly slowly circled his head, as if considering his words for a while, before letting out a shrieking harpie-like cry that only made it too clear that he was not willing to solve this peacefully - an angry, almost vengeful seeking look in it's eyes as it dove towards the hapless Darucho: zooming with an alarming speed at his face...but Diego had been ready for something like this to happen. Quickly fluttering into action, the Taillow flew from next to the human to the wild bird, slamming into it and knocking it away before it could do any more damage. Darucho looked at the bird in a sad pitying manner, saying, "I'm really sorry, bud...but my buddies are going to protect me if I get attacked. If you infected pok'emon try and hurt me and my buddies: well, then we have no choice but to fight back, even though I kind of wish there was a more peaceful way of solving things. But if I have to beat you to make you come along and get that antidote for the virus...so be it." Darucho sighed and shrugged a little with the hand of his that wasn't holding the back of his neck = his body language spoke volumes of the fact that he really wished that he could try and help the pok'emon here WITHOUT having to beat them senseless like everyone else was probably doing.

Alas, it was seeming more and more likely that NO pok'emon infected here would react so well to kindness and logic now. However, the optomistic Darucho did not lose hope - there still had to be ONE pok'emon, one pok'emon out there that was willing to listen to kindness and logic! Even if it meant he kept getting attacked or put in danger: he would not give up on trying to use kindness and logical ability to coax the wild pok'emon. You had to admire how determined he was with his kindness...back to the battle at hand, the unfammilar magpie-like bird seemed quite weakened by Diego's combonation attack - but still battled on: zooming forth with the same blinding speed that Diego had used mere moments ago and smacking into the blue-coloured bird ironically just the way the Taillow had slammed into HIM. However, because the strong avian was so busy concentrating on Apollo, he failed to notice that Mia was and had been ready to strike if the wild showed signs of attacking her master, too. This proved to be the unfammilar flying-type's undoing: for the fact the Starly wasn't paying that much attention to her meant that Mia was able to fly up off Darucho's shoulder and deliver a wave of sharp-bladed wind onto the monochrome-shaded wild - the powerful attack doling out apparently a good deal of damage - for it made the avian fall to the ground and it seemed to have noticable trouble getting UP again.

Darucho saw his chance and took it, tossing a Park Ball at the obviously weakened bird: the orb transforming the bird into a beam of energy, before drawing said energy in. diego, Mia and Darucho were all waiting quite tensely as the ball trembeled, looking like it might snap open any moment now: but no. Diego and Mia's moves had weakened the bird enough that it wouldn't escape on the first ball thrown like the Electrike had done - instead, the group was treated to a 'sucessful capture' ding. Darucho picked up the ball and put it gently away in his pocket - though he knew all captured pok'emon in the contest would tempoararily go to the 'park pc' so that nobody tried to cheat and use the pok'emon they caught to catch a rare infected pok'emon, putting the ball away in his pocket before it was teleported away gave him peace of mind. Though he felt bad that the peaceful negotiations hadn't worked, he felt happy at knowing that now another pok'emon would have the 'cure' to the virus administered to them, and wouldn't have to worry about that madness plauging their thoughts anymore. The battle done, he said to Diego and Mia, "You guys were great. Hang on a bit..." Darucho paused: moving his blue scarf up so that it affectively tied around the cut on the back of his neck he'd gotten - therby stopping the bleeding. It still hurt like bloddy heck, though...Darucho wouldn't be surprised if it ached like this for ages, and he ended up getting a scar there. Mia tweeted in a concerned fashion, but Darucho stroked the Pidgey gently, saying,"It's okay...i'll be fine. Really. Now, let's keep going." Mia nodded - as did Diego - and they followed Darucho as he resumed his search near the alleyways. Though this time, they stuck even CLOSER by him - they didn't want a fast pok'emon getting a free hit on Darucho again like the Taillow had. By sticking closer by him, they minimized the chances of that happening. Even Apollo (as naive as he was) stuck close by Darucho, keeping an eye out just like Diego and Mia were for any signs of danger as Darucho searched...

The streets were getting a little quieter; with this many trainers out and about hunting anything that moved, this wasn't really surprising. Still, there were still plenty of pokemon out there and as you and your small flock made your way through the city, there eventually came a sensation of being stalked. It was an uneasy thing, but try as you might, you could never get more than a glimpse of a shadow sidappearing under something, which could as easily have been your overactive imagination playing tricks on your mind.

Still, the feeling was there, and it made for uneasy travel, especially as the buildings loomed overhead, cutting out most of the view of the sky, and the place seemed almost eerily silent, despite the aforementioned fact that there were so many about hunting down these poor, addled, infected creatures.

The tension grew to almos a breaking point, to the point that your companions were all but ready to attack even the least twitch of a shadow, when it broke.

"Meeee-OWTH!" Razor talons just missed Mia by inches, as death launched itself from above, hoping to snag itself an easy meal. However, the tension that the group had been travelling under wade her reactions hair trigger, letting her bank out of the way just in time, as the cat landed lightly on his feet and bounced back a few feet, snarling and salivating.

Oh, yes, he was hungry, and this vertiable smorgasborg this trainer was displaying was too tempting to resist. The maddened expression of greed and hunger in his eyes warned that it would probably be unwise to try to reason with this infected feline...no, he was already making ready to have another go at Mia even as you all tried to get your heartrates back to normal speeds.

"Meow..." A sultry voice from behind added it's hungry tone to the situation, and a sassy cat minced her way out, her blue fur having helped her blend into the shadows as she swished her tail eagerly, going to help her mate in getting their paws on this meal.

Uhoh, it gets worse. It seems you've been surrounded...now what?

Darucho having set off on his way yet again, he noticed that he continued down the paths of the alleyway: things seemed to be quiet. Too quiet - yes he understood that he wasn't the only trainer out here catching wild pok'emon for their own good and to relieve them of said virus: so it was natural that the streets might seem quieter now that the infected pok'emon were slowly (or quickly, depending on how well the others in this 'contest' were doing) being rounded up. But he didn't like it, especially since that magpie-like bird from a few seconds ago had only been able to attack him like it had because nobody had EXPECTED it to come out of the blue lke that: the remaining pok'emon around this area might just be employing the same tactic as that avian had done. They weren't stupid: Darucho knew full well that there were many pok'emon in the world believed to be just as smart as humans - some even smarter. Though he was laid-back by nature, he knew that now: in a situation such as this, he knew it would only spell disaster for both himself and his compainons if he let his guard down just because everything seemed quiet. Thus, as he walked, his eyes were honed to his surroundings, the human ready to shift his attention to anything that seemed suspicous. It didn't take too long before something suspicous did come to mind: after a few minuted of walking, he got the dinstinct feeling that he and his friends were NOT alone in walking down this alleyway: it felt like something was following their every movement. Watching, waiting...for the perfect time to strike.

However, though Darucho looked intently, all he could get was a mere glimpse of a shadow slinking away under something: and it made the air of peace suddenly turn to one of tense waiting - like you're trapped in a bad horror movie and you just KNOW that something is going to jump out at you eventually. Darucho wasn't the only one tense: Mia's feathers were standing on needles as she flew by Darucho's right hand side, as were Diego's - both serious-nmatured birds had a scowl on their beaks, as if ready to retaliate at the smallest sign of provacation. Vera felt it too, and ducked further into Darucho's backpack: even the naive Apollo reacted to it, his flight pattern seeming more erratic and nervous than usual. The tension in the air was so thick one could have cut it with a knife - sooner or later, it had to break. And soon enough - break it did as a form suddenly leapt out of the shadows from above with a screeching cry that sounded akin to fingernails being dragged down a blackboard: dagger-like claws seeming to glint dangerously in Mia's direction: however, the tension the group had been travelling udner meant that the Pidgey was able to bank out of the way just in time, the pok'emon landing on it's feet and bouncing back a bit, snarling in a hungry fashion. Darucho's heart was beating a mile a minute - that had been FAR too close - but he managed to calm himself down enough to regonise what pok'emon this was... Oh no. OH NO. OH HELL NO. Why, out of ALL the pok'emon in the world, did he have to run into THIS one? It seemed like history was reapeating itself - for in front of him was a Meowth, a maddened look of greed in it's eyes as it stared at the group. Darucho suddenly had flashbacks: he'd met Mia and made her his starter by SAVING her from a Meowth, way back then. To face one of them now certainly was ironic. Mia's feathers tensed even more at seeing a CAT - she HATED their species for hunting her and making her feel so hopeless in the wild for so long, and this pok'emon in particular was no exception.

If looks could kill: she would have issued a one-hit KO to the Meowth right then and there without even doing ANYTHING move wise, that was for sure. Darucho clenched his teeth - the look in this feliene's eyes made it all too clear that kidness and logicabilty was NOT an option here. The cat even looked like he was ready to have another go at the Pidgey if she tried to fight back: just then, Darucho heard another cat meow behind him, and whirled aorund to see a blue cat having stepped it's way out from the shadows - seeming in cahoots with the Meowth, for it too, was eyeing the birds off hungrily. Darucho sighed - the pok'emon that controled fate really were weird sometimes. As if one infected cat wasn't hard enough to deal with, now he had to fight off TWO to protect his buddies from harm. Diego looked like he was about to fly forth, but Darucho said, "No! Don't...this is WAY too dangerous for you guys. If you faint: i'd be putting you in mortal danger! I'm NOT going to do that to my friends, no way. I may be a trainer: but even I have morals." Mia looked to Darucho in a surprised manner - feeling honoured that he cared so mcuh aboutt hem - but what now? The cats obviously weren't going to just let them by peacefully. Suddenly, something happened that surprised ALL of the pok'emon on darucho's team - Vera fluttered out of Darucho's backpack. She felt nervous, but fluttered to take a position close behind Darucho - as if to prevent the unfammilar blue cat jumping at the birds. Mia had saved her life once, the Pidgey...and now the Butterfree saw her chance to repay the favour.

Darucho said, "V-vera...wow. You'd battle for Mia? You're so nice..." Darucho then was suprised further as Apollo (despite being paralyzed) fluttered to take a position close in front of Darucho, as if to try and stop any attacks that Meowth threw the birds way. The blue-clad human was touched, saying, "Apollo - you're going to fight too? even though you're paralyzed? I have such awesome pok'emon friends..." The human was so touched by this he had to wipe away a tear before saying, "Alright! Go, you two! Let's show these two what happens when pok'emon try to hurt our friends!" Vera moved first - her eyes glowing to summon psychic energy for a confusion, after which she would start flapping her wings and making a horrible buzzing noise. If the combonation of an attack that hurt one's mind as WELL as one's ears didn't make the unfammilar female cat confused, she didn't know WHAT would. Apollo would try his best to get past his status problem -if the paralysis didn't affect him, then he would fire a barrage of posionous needles at the cream-colorued cat, befor efollowing that up with a Confusion of his own. Darucho watched carefully: sicne both his pok'emon were using moves that caused status problems, it mgiht give him a shot to end this quickly: the last thing he wanted was to draga fight like THIS out. Thus, if he noted either of the cats showing a sign of a status condition that would likely make them easier to catch, he'd toss a Park Ball at them. The sooner this ended, the better: he was not going to allow his freinds to be put in mortal danger, even if that meant he had to go through ALL the park balls he had remaining.

.3 (I totally hadn't realized that you'd saved the bird from a meowth before now...talk about coincidence. *chuckles*)

The laws of nature applied to many a thing, sadly, and looked at from the other way around, this poor cat had been infected with some sort of disease, driven beyond reason by this, and had his home invaded by hordes of pokemon first, stealing his food, his territory, and then came the trainers, by the dozen.

He had reason to be unreasonable, true...but that didn't excuse trying to eat your friends, admittedly. The tail lashed as he prepared to pounce for the tasty looking pidgey that was trembling in fury at the near miss and attack in general. The bird would make a fine meal...something he hadn't had in far too long...

Then there was some sort of bug-thing in his way, answering his challenge, twitching in the throes of paralysis even as he tried to hide it. The cat SNEERED at this pitiful attempt, and pounced, talons latching into the bug, figuring he was just as good for dinner at this point as anything else.

Apollo strained against the bonds limiting his physical form, but to no avail, even as the feline's talons scored his body, and then unleashed his mind upon the cat, determined to extract some revenge for the pain, and the intent to harm his traveling companions.

The Meowth fell backwards at the psychic assault, batting madly at the air as phantoms of his own creation attacked out of nowhere, with a yowl of fear and rage, as he struggled to take down the demons in his own mind, flailing about wildly on the ground for the moment.

The park ball, readied for the sign of status, flew true, sucking the crazed feline in, but bad luck upon bad...the ball rattled wildly, then burst back open, the meowth reappearing in a flash of red and a confused screech.

The glameow, on the other hand, seemed a little less surprised as the butterfee got between her and her target, launching forward with surprising speed and slamming into the bug, disrupting her concentration for her first attack, though the cat stumbled back a bit with a pained cry as the butterfly set up a buzzing that echoed unpleasantly around the feline, causing her to bat at her ears a bit, before getting hit by another pokeball, considering the damage that dealt, she wouldn't be able to take another blow anyhow, so I assume Daruchio throws, that is.

And this time, there isn't nearly so much bad luck on the generator, and this kitty puts up a bit of a struggle, then the light dings on, leaving just one opponent to deal with.

Though Darucho had to fight against the feline duo in order to protect his friends from becoming the hunger-crazed wilds next meals, he couldn't help but feel sorry for them - despite every single cat pok'emon he'd met so far in his journey either being jerks or trying to eat his companions (which probably was why Mia disliked their species as whole as much as she did) he didn't hate them as a species: and he knew the pok'emon in this town probably had more right than anyone to go attacking any pok'emon affiliated with the humans that had driven them out of house and home to unfamiliar places like this city - and since they probably weren't sure how to best get food here, the humans had probably contributed to this mad hunger. It was quite sad, really. They'd probably ran to the cities to escape and start a new life, but in the end - the humans just kept going wherever they went. No WONDER most infected pok'emon seemed to hold a personal vendetta against humans in general, what with having been put through so much. But, despite feeling pity for the cats, Darucho was not going to let his friends be hurt. If the cats had just asked nicely for some food, maybe this could have gone differently, but...now, he had to fight. For his friend's sakes. Contemplation aside, Daruchos attention was shifted quickly back to the cats as he saw the Meowth crouch low as if preparing to try and jump at Mia again however, the cream-colored cat halted upon seeing Apollo flutter down in its way.

The wild pok'emon sneered in a nasty fashion at the obviously paralyzed bug before suddenly leaping out - but aiming to land on the moth instead of Mia, eyes wild with hunger as he did so. The pok'emon was obviously so food-deprived that it thought ANYTHING in front of it was a viable food option...Apollo wanted to stop the cat leaping at him, but all he got for his attempts to use Posion Sting was a few stray sparks shooting from his body, his status problem proving too strong to get past this time and thus the moth ended up being pounced on, the sheer weight of his 'hitchhiker' making him fall to the ground, where the cat scratched it's claws vicously against his body. Despite the pain he felt, the Dustox did not give up - maganing to break through the paralysis long enough to send a wave of psychic energy shooting out from his eyes. The sheer power of the close-range Confusion knocked the cat backwards - who got back up quickly. Darucho readied Apollo's ball, ready to recall the moth if things got dangerous - but he needn't have worried. Upon getting back up, the cat began slashing at thin air, a wild look in it's eyes and falling down on the ground flaling. Looks like he DEFINTELY had a status problem. Darucho instantly threw the Park Ball at seeing the Meowth so obviously confused, but luck was not on his side right now, as the orb snapped back open after only shaking a few times. Darucho was a little dissapointed at this: but on the bright side of things (there was ALWAYS a bright side with him) at least the Meowth was less likely to do more damage to his friends now, though he felt sorry for it.

Suddenly, a movement from behind him made him turn around to Vera and the unfammilar blue cat: said blue cat having sped forth and smacked into Vera before she could use Confusion. Though the attack seemed to prevent Vera from going about her first move like she'd wanted, she was still able to buzz at the wild in a ear-achingly noisy manner - the cat stumbling back with a high-pitched wail of pain and batting it's ears as if to block out the noise. Darucho saw an opening there, and quickly took it - tossing another Park Ball. Thankfully, this one was more sucessful than the one thrown at the Meowth had been, dinging after violently shaking for a bit. Darucho quickly picked up the orb and put it into his pocket, before saying to Apollo, "You look tired. Come back and let Vera handle this...I don't want to force you to go on when you obviously need a rest. "The Dustox smiled - glad for the rest, and slowly flew back to Darucho's side. This said, Darucho said, "Vera - this poor cat needs the virus cure more than anyone. Please- try to weaken it enough so that I can catch it and end the madness that horrid virus is spreading through it's head..." Vera nodded silently, after which she would turn her attention to the Meowth and attempt to use a Confusion. She wasn't aiming to faint it - just whittle down it's health enough so that darucho could catch it and end it's misery by giving it - like all the other pok'emon he caught in this place - the cure for the madness affecting it's mind...

.3 (Sorry for shortness...just figured I'd get this out of the way and there wasn't a lot else to say about it.)

The meowth yowls and flails, as his mind is further messed with by the bug, lunging almost at random and clamping down on the butterfree's foot with some sharp, pointy teeth, which is painful, to say the least, not to mention a lucky shot, as he really wasn't aiming. However, he doesn't hang on long, as he's then nailed with a pokeball and sucked in. A few wiggles latter, it pings, and this poor kitty can get cured as well.

Or something.

Both pokemon get .2 XP from that.

(Out of character note: That's fine - i'm just glad to get an update. ^^)

Vera sucessfully fired off a wave of psychic energy at the already-confused cat: who obviously didn't react well to this at ALL. Heck, he was probably angry enough that he had to fight against his won mind due to the Pok'erust, and now that confusion was basically doing a simmilar thing, Darucho was willing to bet the cat was going to try and use a powerful attack to get revenge for this. The blue-clad trainer had to sigh to himself: all this hate, all this anger - being a easy-going sort of guy, he didn't quite understand it, though he certainly understood WHY the pok'emon here were so angry. he didn't think he ever wanted to understand such hatred - though he knew he got scary when he was angry, he never took things THIS far. He just hoped that curing these pok'emon would help to clear such corrupting hatred and festering feelings from their poor addled minds...suddenly, his thoughts were drawn back to the fight as the cat lunged in a random direction and landed a lucky hit - clenching his teerh tightly onto Vera's foot. The Butterfee shuddered with pain - but thankfully, Darucho was sensible enough to throw another Park Ball at this point. Because the feilene was at such low health at that point - the ball didn't take long to ding after shaking a few times. Darucho sighed again -quite glad that particular battle was over and done with. Fighting against those cats all the time was proving to be a real headache. On the bright side though: now he'd obtained two more pok'emon to be cured at the end of this whole thing. Picking up the ball containing the Meowth, he shoved it into his pocket before it got teleported away by the contest's pre-set PC system. Why? Well, he had no reason, really. It just gave him a little more peace of mind.

After stowing the orb away, he turned to Apollo and Vera, saying, "Thanks...you two were awesome. You both look kinda tired from that fight though - lemme recall you so you don't have to worry about fighting anymore." This said, he recalled both the Dustox and Butterfree to their orbs, both pok'emon seeming relieved - to get some rest and the fact they'd prevented Mia and Apollo beccomming lunch. Darucho was kind: he wasn't going to force Vera and Apollo to fight when they were so tired. However, this only left Mia and Diego as pok'emon he could use to help him catch wild pok'emon in order to cure them - and rules stated that if you 'ran out' of pok'emon to use in the contest, your catching session was over. Darucho wanted to help as many wild pok'emon as he could before having to leave - hey, he might even find a rare kind and thoughtful pok'emon around here that would come with them peacefully! Ah, if only that were true. Purely optomistic such a thought was, and Darucho knew it - but it did brighten his spirits. Now - thoughts back to the 'catching contest' Darucho had a pok'emon he would really like to find and be able to help, here. If the virus was affecting even the most smart of minds - he could only imagine what horrors it would do to a Hoothoot - which were said to be the smartest of all flying-types bar Xatu and Natu. He wanted really badly to stop the virus addling that sort of mind: for the pok'emon's sake. If the virus could induce madness to that poor Meowth - who knew what it could do to a logical and intelligent mind such as a Hoothoot's? Now - where should he go to increase his chances of finding one? Hmmm: well, the alleyways were pretty dark, and owls liked to hang about in dark places during the day (and it was still daytime to his knowledge) so if he continued through the alleyways like he was doing now, he should sooner or later come across one.

Gesturing for Mia and Apollo to stay close to him, Darucho continued down the alleyways: peering intently for any sign of a Hoothoot...

As the trio hunts through the alleys of the city, they find a lot of trash, but not really any owls, or other pokemon, for that matter. At least at first.

And the encounter-finder doesn't come up anything near owls when I fiddle with it, either. But it is also true that this contest has been going on for some time now...and it woudn't be such a stretch to think that much of what has infested the city has been captured by the throngs.

However, after about the twentieth or thirtieth alley check, there was something down this one. A flash of bright green, with a flutter of red blazed past the trainer and his two avians with a startled whistle.

Well, it isn't a Hoothoot, but it is a bird. Eyes deep and depthless black turn to stare back at the three of them as it hovers, or possibly floats, in the air some ten feet away. After a moment, it lets out another whistle, and turns, looking like it was getting ready to flee, or something.

Though Darucho, Mia and Diego were all keeping their eyes peeled for any signs of the Hoothoot that the blue-clad trainer was looking to assist, the aura of this place seemed to be no longer as tense as before, like you could expect a pok'emon to come careening out at you any second due to the infestation of the pok'erust infecting both their common sense and the way way they normally acted due to their natures: heck, it almost seemed downright peaceful now. Darucho couldn't help but be surprised at this - of course, he knew that there was a lot of other trainers here catching all the pok'erust infected wilds and diminishing their numbers so that they could all be cured: but he hadn't expected the number of infected pok'emon to drop down like this so quickly. Maybe this was just another part of the remaining infected pok'emon's plan - to make it look like they were all gone and then attack when seemingly nobody was ready? He didn't know. Though he was glad he didn't have to get startled every few seconds by pok'emon launching out to attack him: he was still tense, ready to ask his compainons to defend each-other if he had to. Of course, he had little concern for his own safety - being the kind soul he was, he really didn't think about himself all that much. However, Mia and Diego were hovering close to him and protecting him should he run into any trouble (like he so often did). They didn;'t like this quietness at all - hadn't those two cats tried to eat them before when everything SEEMED quiet and peaceful? Thus, they didn't lower their guards at all, eyes tensely scanning the surroundings as they followed Darucho.

The blue-clad trainer dilligently went through alleyway afetr alleayway afetr alleayway, with still no sign of anything appearing. Had all the pok'emon gone now? However, just as he thought that, a sudden flash of colour darted past him: the sudden appearance of something after so long making Darucho jump in surprise and almost fall over -what was that?! Eyes focusing to the front of him, he saw a small green and red bird hovering (or was it floating?) in front of them, staring intently. Darucho stared back with his blue eyes into the pok'emon's black ones: he didn't recognise this pok'emon at first, but now he realized it was a pok'emon from his home reigon - a Natu. It whistled at him, Maya and Diego before turning - looking like it wanted to fly away. Darucho wondered why such a rare pok'emon was here - but he was happy that it didn't seem all that badly affected by the virus. Maybe this pok'emon didn't need his help to 'cure' it, huh? Of course, Darucho (being tottally unaware of the powers of psychic-types) didn't know that Natu could be reading his thoughts right now, and continued to ponder to himself, thinking that if the pok'emon was scared, it wouldn't be nice to go chasing after it forciably...he didn't want to be mean, after all. It would have been nice if the pok'emon could stay and chat, since it seemed freindly enough: he almost didn't want it to run away. But he wasn't going to stop if flying away if it wanted to - he was here to HELP pok'emon, not scare the living daylights out of them.

As Darucho thought to hismelf, Mia brought him out of his thoughts by chriping in a curious fashion, as if wondering what he wanted to do. Darucho said to her, "Well - I dunno, really..." Looks like he was unsure of where to look next - partially because that Natu hadn't done anything yet. Maybe if it moved, he might do something, though he really didn't want to scare it or make it think he was after it, since it didn't seem to be infected and need his help?

Red wings fluttered iridescent in the gray light of the city, the green feathers almost seming to glitter as the bird floated in the air. With a faint *huff* of air, the little creature vanished from sight, but a glitter of green out of the corner of your eye showed that he hadn't gone far. He was sitting at the end of the street you were on, atop a railing, and staring.

He fluttered into the air once your gazes met, and disappeared down the left branch of the road that this tee'd into. Well, that was decidedly odd. What was the bird up to?

A mournful whistle echoed down the street, and the whisper of a thought tickled the edges of the mind, not clear enough to be understood, like those times when you've forgotten a detail, and are trying to remember it...

The whistle came again, enticingly, fading out. It was hard to say if it really was trying to run, or trying to get you to follow it...

As Darucho pondered to himself as to what he should do now, he was snapped out of his thoughful reverie as the small psychic-type fluttered it's small red wings - almost seeming to glitter as their iredescent reflectiveness caught the light - floating for a bit before seeming to vanish from sight entierly with a small poof of air, leaving Darucho bewildered. Had the Natu pulled a David Copperfield on him and just used Teleport to vanish from sight entierly, or was it just really quick in flying from place to place? The spiky-haired human guessed it was the former of the two: most trainers he'd met said that because Natu's wings weren't fully grown, they weren't as experienced as flying in the skies as their evolved forms might be - but their powerful psychic abilities made up for this. Darucho turned to Mia for a bit, saying softly, "I guess it's gone: now we ca-" Darucho's sentance trailed off as he saw something green out of the corner of his eye when talking to his starter, and apparently, Mia had seen it too, as she was pointing with a wing at that same thing, as if trying to tell her trainer without words that the Natu was not quite as 'vanished' as Darucho had thought...turning his attention to the green object, Darucho was surprised to see the Natu hadn't disseapeared that far - sitting on a railing at the end of the street that he was on and still fixing the blue-clad human with that silent stare. Darucho's own blue eyes met the psychic's black ones once more, and the pok'emon reacted by fluttering up into the air once their gazes had met, and flew down the left branch of the road that this current path branched off to. Mia and Diego shared a glance to each-other: they didn't like this. The Natu might not be as mean and nasty as every other pok'emon they'd come across, but maybe this was all just a ploy to try and get Darucho to follow it so it could lead him into a trap? They hadn't just forgotten how much all the infected pok'emon seemed to hate humankind (with very good reason, too). But then again, if this pok'emon was infected, it might have just attacked right away instead of going to trouble like this: so maybe they were just being cautious. All the same, whatever Darucho decided to do, they would still be on their guard, just in case something happened.

Darucho tilted his head to the side, wondering what the Natu was doing: and suddenly he heard the bird's whistle echo from down the street in almost a saddened manner, and he felt a very odd sensation in his own head - like someone else's consiousness had briefly trailed across it. Darucho shivered a little at the odd sensation, but that wasn't what really caught his attention - a brief whisper floated by in his own head, too brief and too soft to be understood. that was what really caught his attention. Was someone trying to tell him something, but couldn't find the words to and so had restorted to trying to connect with his own mind? Though Darucho kenw little about the pwoers of psychic-types, he kenw that logically - the Natu was the only one whom could have done this, seeing as it was (apparently) the only pok'emon whom had psychic abilities around here. This confused the trainer - he had thought the Natu was trying to get away, to run. Why then, would it connect with his mind like that? Was it trying to get him to follow? To help it with something? Though Darucho knew not the bird's intentions, he couldn't just stand here and ingore a pok'emon that might want and need assistance, being the kind-hearted soul that he was. This in mind, darucho gestured for Mia and Diego to keep close to him as he started to run, trying his best to follow the Natu and keep it in his sights:not considering the thought this might all be a trick at all. Even if he had considered it, helping pok'emon was important to him - and he wasn't going to ignore something like this. Mia and Diego tensed further - ready to attack if they had to as they followed Darucho: sticking VERY close to him now as he darted along in that determiend manner of his to follow the small psychic bird...

.3 (Prolly the last time I'm gonna be modding this until sunday maybe.)

The natu was always barely in sight, or just out of sight, enticing the trainer along with soft whistles or a flash of red and green rounding a corner. Like a siren luring sailors into the depths...

Well, this bird was male, so that really isn't the best comparison, but...still. The idea was certainly more than enough to get one's nerves on edge, aside from the heroic sorts of minds...who couldn't resist such siren calls. Someone might be in trouble, and need their help.

Nevermind all the stories about 'wounded souls' or whatnot that were traps. Still, there were also stories of damsels in distress...

And as they rounded yet another corner, it became clear which this was. Three birds were in this dead-end alleyway, two midnight black as coal, with wicked yellow beaks, and one that was round and softly brown. They all looked up at the intrusion, then launched into action.

Oh...wait. Then again...a green blur arrowed out of the sky, knocking one of the two black birds off course, as the second landed atop the third one, who squealed as the dark bird jabbed viciuosly at her with his beak.

Almost contemptuously, the bird that the natu had divebombed knocked him into a trashcan with a wing, cawing derisively, though he cast a wary look over at the trainer and HIS birds as well...would they dare interfere with their fun?

Maybe it wasn't a trap, but really IS a damsel in distress...

(Out of character note: That's ok.)

Though Darucho had chased the little psychic-type around the corner as fast as his legs could carry him, as fast as he might run after the wild pok'emon: as fast as his determination made him - it was always either not quite enough or only just so, for the Natu always remained either just barely in sight or just out of it - continuing those soft, almost melanchonly whistles as it flew along. However, sometimes Darucho didn't even hear said whsitles, and he had to rely on his eyesight managing to spot the slight flash of green and red out the corner of his eye like had happened before...whatever this bird was up to, it was certainly in a hurry and wasn't wasting time. Perhaps it was eager to dole out punishment to a human after all the pain that humans had put the wilds through: but at the same time, it might just be anxious for Darucho to hurry up and follow because there was something important it wanted to show him, and said 'important thing' wasn't going to wait. Whatever the Natu's reason for rushing was, Darucho still steadfastiedly followed the little psychic bird as fast as he could - if this pok'emon needed help, it was his responsibility: no, his DUTY as a trainer that looked up to and respected flying-types above all else to assist this little bird as best as he could. He didn't care if he was being led into a trap: for he trusted this bird. Why would a psychic-type lie to anyone? It just didn't make sense. Of course, maybe the laid-back Darucho was a bit more trusting of unfammilar folks than Mia and Diego were: or maybe the human just thought that it was impossible a pok'emon he respected so much would lie to him or lead him into a trap. Either way, he still chased after the green and red bird as quickly as possible.

The bird seemed to whirl around corners and in sudden differant directions with shocking speed - Darucho had to run fast to keep up - but eventually, the Natu led Darucho and company around a corner to a dead-end alleyway. As the human panted to catch his breath, his eyes grew wide at seeing the scene in front of him - two crow-like avians were looming over a round brown owlish pok'emon, almost seeming to eye it off in a malovent manner: and Darucho realized with a shuddering shock that these two pok'emon were Murkrow - and they seemed to be advancing on a Hoothoot many levels lower than them both. Darucho felt a sudden anger rise up at this injustice - what REASON did those two have to try and hurt a lower-levelled pok'emon of their own kind?! He understood that dark-types were mischeivious at times: but he'd never thought he'd see a dark-type go THIS low. It must be the infulence of that cursed Pok'erust that made the birds like this...and suddenly, Darucho understood why the Natu had been in such a hurry to get him to follow. It must be friends with this Hoothoot and seen the situation - and went off to get help, from what he could tell. The birds all looked up at seeing the group barge into the alleyway - and the Murkrow looked like they were going to attack, but the Natu moved first. The little psychic-type moved with a determination and speed that surprised Diego - the Taillow feeling respect well up in his mind for the bird as it dive-bombed the strongest Murkrow: despite the fact it had a type disadvantage over the dark-type and the fact that it didn't look as strong as the pok'emon it was targeting - it still surged forth anyway.

The larger Murkrow was knocked tempoararily off-course by the Natu's assault - but the other one was unpeturbed by the apperance of the human, his pok'emon and the Natu, and forcibly landed on the Hoothoot: unmercifully jabbing it's body in a cruel way with it's beak. Mia's feathers stood on edge at this, the Pidgey trilling angrily at this - she could tell (unlike Darucho) that the Hoothoot wad female and both the Murkrow were males. How...how DARE these two think that they could manhandle a lady like THAT! She didn't blame the Natu at all for dive-bombing the Murkrow as it had, though such a move was rather hasty, she had to admit. It didn't seem to have done much to the Murkrow at all, the crow swatting the Natu into a trashcan with a powerful blow of it's wing almost contempously - though he did cast a wary glance at Darucho and his pok'emon. Darucho was fuming at this point - such injustice, such cruetly: he was NOT going to just stand by ad let this go on. But: he was concerned about the Natu. It looekd badly hurt from that Murkrow's blow, and he was a little scared the little guy might get further injured if he just ingored it - so Darucho spoke out softly - as if talking to the Natu to reassure it, saying, "Don't worry. I promise...i'll do my best to stop this injustice, little guy. You just stay in here - I don't want you to be hurt anymore." This said, he threw a Park Ball at the Natu - itending to keep it safe in there. While he threw the Park Ball at Natu, he said, "Mia! Diego! Let's teach these bullies a lesson, alright?!" Mia didn't NEED anymore direction - she was fuming at this point, and wanted to thoughly punish these two egotistic MALES for daring to lay a hand on a fellow female.

She was quick to start flapping her wings in a furiously fast anger - the sheer velocity of her wing flaps causing a tornado of gust to be whipepd up. however, this was no nromal Gust tornado - she'd flapped her wings so hard and so angrily that the cutting winds of Air Slash had logically been added to the move too, which she attempted to direct straight at the higher-levelled Murkrow. Meanwhile, Diego turned his attention's to the Murkrow abusing the Hoothoot: seeming to glow in a brillantly bright light as he surged forth - attemptign to knock the bird right off the Hoothott with an Endeavor & Quick Attack powered combonation. Darucho watched the two intently - if they managed to distract the Murkrow enough and get them to take their focus off the Hoothoot - if even for a second - he wouldn't waste time. He'd throw a Park Ball at the Hoothott too, wanting to protect it from further harm as well: just like he didn't want the Natu to get anymore hurt, he didn't want that poor little owl to be abused anymore...he just hoped that the owl and the Natu would be smart enough not to resist capture.

Whoosh, the Park Ball flew past the Murkrow into the trash bin. The tiny Natu was sucked inside. A loud ping echoed inside the bin before the ball vanished. Natu was now safe from further harm. Now time for some action.

Mia to the rescue! The pent up little Pidgey attacked with all women's fury. These Murkrow would pay for daring to harm a fellow female. Her tiny but powerful wings kicked up a surge of wind that caused Murkrow to tumble head over tail. And just as he was getting back his senses Mai was in his face. Murkrow defended himself, pecking at the little pidgey but Mia's Air Slash won. The Murkrow fell limply to the concrete floor of the alley. Whether he'd learned his lesson or not he would no longer be causing these particular females any trouble.

Diego's turn. His opponent was too focused on Hoothoot to defend against the speedy Taillow's attack. But the sudden out flow of energy tipped him off long enough to turn and see Diego's small body rushing at him at lightning speeds. Murkrow was knocked from the tiny Hoothoot. She weakly got to her feet before being sucked into the safety of the Park Ball. After a few weak wiggles the ball fell still and vanished. Hoothoot was now safe as well.

Now being knocked for a loop did nothing to brighten the Murkrow's day. Though weakened Murkrow wasn't ready to give in just yet. The black bird rushed the offending Taillow smacking him soundly with a - wait nothing happened? Murkrow stared at Diego who didn't seem to have noticed the Astonishing attack. Seemed Murkrow could maul defenseless Pokemon but didn't know how to handle itself in a real fight.

Thankfully for Darucho, his aim proved true when making sure that the small Natu was prevented from being harmed anymore: the Park Ball catching the little psychic-type almost instantly due to the amount of damage that it had taken on account of those malovent bullies. The spiky-haired human sighed in obvious relief as he picked the ball out from inside the trashcan (making a mental note to wash both it and his hands REALLY well later on), glad that he'd helped one of the two pok'emon in danger here. Now, all that was left was that poor Hoothoot to rescue. Standing up and turning his attention to the two-on-two battle at hand, he grapsed another empty Park Ball, ready to throw it should his partners give him that oppourtunity. As he watched on, he couldn't help but shiver at seeing that the sheer anger Mia had towards the Murkrows allowed her to be able to do her move first - and not only that, but actually hit the higher-levelled Murkrow quite effecitvely! What was that saying, again? 'Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned' or something. Well, though Darucho really didn't remember this quote that he was thinking about, he couldn't help feel that it certainly applied here. Reminding himself right then and there to try and NEVER get Mia mad, he continued to watch as the Murkrow recovered from the powerful gust of winds sent it's way, only to see Mia had flown right up to it. The dark-type retaliated with a Peck quickly, but it was a case of too little too later: and Mia's next move - her Air Slash - knocked the bully out quite affectively, the crow falling limply to the concrete floor of the town.

Darucho pumped a fist energetically at this, a smile on his face: one down, one to go! Diego was the next to move: zooming towards the Murkrow mauling Hoothoot with a determined speed, the black crow looking up from his torture just in time to see the Taillow headed his way - but Diego was too fast to avoid and the dark bird was slammed off Hoothoot rather forcibaly. Seeing his chance and taking it, Darucho quickly tossed a Park Ball at the injured Hoothoot to prevent it getting any more hurt. Thankfully, the little brown owl seemed to realize that Darucho was trying to help (either that, or she didn't have the energy to try and escape the ball) and was caught very quickly. Darucho watched as the Park Ball was teleported to the PC system of the contest, before a movement from the last remaining Murkrow caught his eye. The black bird looked angry, ready to dish out revenge for his fallen comrade and get Diego back for the last attack, but EVERYONE in the battlefield was surprised when the crow tried an attack, beak glowing strengly - but it seemed to have no affect on Diego, whom seemed he was using all of his power not to start laughing at the silly bird right then and there. darucho stared, wondering what had happened, before realizing that Murkrow knew Astonish - a ghost-type move. Murkrow must have tried to do that: but with Diego being part normal-type, ghost-type moves had no affect on him. Seemed this Murkrow was 'all talk' when it came to battling. Darucho looked at the bird silently for a moment before realizing that there probably wasn't much time left in the contest at all - though he didn't like this bird for what it had done to Hoothott, he had a duty to catch it so it could be cured anyways, regardless of how mean it had been. Thus, Ducho attempted to quickly throw another Park ball - this time at the injured crow - before the contest ended....

Indeed the contest is almost over, and so hurling the ball isn't a bad idea. Unfortunately, the RNG doesn't feel that it's going to happen. The ball rattles wildly, then bursts open, releasing the crow back into the air with a shriek. He darts off into the blue yonder, wanting nothing more of that, if he can avoid it.

Nor does he want vengeful lady wrath unleashed upon him next.

Though Darucho had been quick to toss the Park Ball the Murkrow's way and the bird was quite low on health after Diego's assualt, it seemed that even that was not enough to signify a sucessful capture, the ball rattling wildy before snapping in two and re-revealing the wild Murkrow. Mia and Diego both tensed, ready to attack if the Murkrow planned on continuing the fight - but they needn't have worried, as the Murkrow shrieked ina firghtened manner upon being let back out of the orb before turning tail and flying off. Darucho sweat-dropped: that wild pok'emon was long gone, and even if he was a fast chaser, there was no hope of catching it now. Anyways, the contest was nearly over. Darucho turned to Mia and Diego, saying, "You both did great! I think that sicne there's only a little bit of time left in the conest...we may as well quit now, right? I'm happy with the number of pok'emon we helped - I don't even care if we win!" The spiky-haired grinned in his cheerful way before gesturing for his two compainons to follow as he headed back to the counter where he'd first gotten the Park Balls for the contest, intending to announce to the person there that he planned on finishing the contest now and handing over all the Park balls he had remaining. Though Darucho did wish he could have caught and cured the Murkrow as well, he wasn't complaining about the number of pok'emon he'd been able to catch - and they'd all be cured!

Overall, it had been a good contest for him.
