A massive ship came to rest some distance away from the city of Brightopolis, and Aris disembarked. He quickly disguised it with some adapted OME technology. A quick flick of a switch, and a tarp, fitted with tiny filaments was pulled around the ship with simple gravity. It bent the incoming light, and so, no image of a sitting ship was projected to your retinas.

And off he traipsed towards Brightopolis, the city with no humans, now the home of runaways. He had never gone out and hunted the PokeRUS addled beasts, busy with Gym battles and explosives. But, when the call went out, he changed his course as soon as possible. Rarities would be waiting for him, make haste, make haste.

He nodded to the city marshals planted around the limits. He accepted his twenty Park Balls, and headed off into the metropolis.

Empty streets all around, silent towers stretching so high. He headed down the roads, wondering if his decision to bring along thermite and Molotov cocktails and various other delicious destructables for this expedition would come back to bite him. There were explicit orders not to kill anything, but when had he ever been one to follow in line, rank-and-file? If Floyd and his army drones hadn't managed it, Mayor McCheese certainly wasn't going to. He hadn't felt the urge to do unnecessary harm to anything since Kevin Baconville, and he hoped to keep things that way once and for all. Protection was all they would be used for.

He listened intently. Being so alone in a such a city, the noise of a scavenging Pokemon or a ferocious battle would be heard before seen. The quicker he got started, the more he would get out of this side-trip.

Hiss.

The occulting of a shadow in the distance meant that there was... something. What it was, one could not tell, but there was something out there. There just had to be, right? There was no such thing as a ghost sound.

Hissss.

The sound of movement! Over there, near those trash cans. There was sure as heck something over there, for a moment later, the lids on the aluminium bins fell to the ground, clanging and clattering and making a general racket. There just had to be something over there in the alleyway nearby. Whatever it was, it was getting closer...

Hissssss.

And then, they came. Out from behind the massive dumpster came two large, gleaming fangs, bared in the sunlight, and behind it came the dark form of a powerful, poisonous snake that would not stop with but a small meal. It would devour everything in its path, and then it would come for you. The look in its red-rimmed eyes bespoke an anger that was not only caused by this PokéRUS but by nature itself. It would have assaulted you either way. Now the Seviper started to circle, ready, waiting. It was toying with its meal before enjoying it.

From the shadows slipped a serpent. Aris turned quizzically as it approached, split tongue scything through the air, catching his sent. There would be no use running from the tube of muscle now. Aris eyed the red-ringed eyes, the pointed tail like a knife, cutting absentmindedly through the air.

It started to circle him. Not quite predatory instinct, but the PokeRUS fever had clearly made it overconfident. In the wild it certainly would have attacked by now, simple stalking behavior. This gave Aris the advantage. Carefully watching the circling Seviper, he chose his Pokemon. Whiscash appeared in a dazzling flash.

"Earthquake," quipped Aris dismissively. He smirked to himself. He was risking becoming just as overconfident as his assailant. Bu, at least he had the right. His pack was filled to the brim with explosives and he had a powerful Pokemon between him, who now was thrusting himself into the air, smacking the worn pavement with his slippery underbelly.

Wobbling to stand, Aris muttered, "Careful, buddy. Leave it alive, I want to catch it." He brandished a sparkly-new Park Ball.

A Whiscash. An interesting choice; a Water-type Pokémon on land was only in some cases a wise idea. There were some that had difficulty subsisting without the life-giving waters they had an affinity for, but this one appeared different to most. This one had the power of nature on his side, and he was even given an item that was to help boost that affinity.

Perhaps a shame that affinity made him just too powerful, if only by a touch.

The shaking of the ground, the powerful seismic shakes that were rocking the world around them, the sign that the Whiscash was assaulting the scythe-tailed Seviper that wished to devour it, Aris, and everything about them. It was a potentially-hazardous situation, particularly if the earthquake set off those explosives, and that was a real threat. Fortunately, it did not happen.

However, the Seviper's natural weakness to the Ground-type shone through - and it, after the quaking subsided, fell to the floor, near-lifeless. The energy that carried it through the PokéRUS tide was now gone from its body, as it fell, limp, unable to get up or offer any more resistance. Lesson learned: bringing explosives to a knife fight was perhaps not the way to go about things.

The Whiscash, on the other hand, had at least learned that lesson of control, and could speak something for its efforts. Aris would need to recall it and continue his search if he wanted to try and do something else in this city, such as find something to show for his efforts in this catching contest.

The earth shook, rattled, and rolled, Aris's legs wiggling like jelly beneath him. He steadied himself with his hands, not wanting to fall flat on his back and risk breaking a cocktail or splitting a bag of acetone peroxide. None of it would go up without an ignition source, but white powder of disgusting oil, spilled all over him wasn't something he was partial to at the moment.

"Careful now!" he shouted, watching the Seviper tossed about like a rag-doll. Its long winding body laid in a heap when the shaking ceased, utterly motionless. Fainted, unintentionally, but he was without a quarry once more. "Oh well. Good job Whiscash. All that shaking should attract something more. Let's take a look, shall we?"

He and his slippery sidekick rounded the nearest corner, eyes peeled for the surely thick Pokemon swathing the paved streets.

"Come out, come out, wherever you are," he whispered jovially.

What was to come? The shaking could either attract or repel a Pokémon, and that meant both good and bad things could happen. If something large and angry was to appear, then... well, there would be a world of trouble. If something crappy appeared, well, it could be dominated or captured and one could move on.

Speaking of crappy things, there was your foe.

The shaking had attracted something that loved the earth. When it started moving, there was cause for concern... or something was trying to disturb it from its semi-restful sleep and it needed to be exterminated for it to be able to go back to its nap. The annoyance would be removed. Quickly. And this creature would have all the time in the world to make it a slow, torturous event for the unfortunate target of this annihilation.

What was it? It was a Sunkern. A big, overgrown seed.

But don't underestimate this Sunkern, oh no. Its eyes were red-rimmed, bloodshot, almost foaming at the mouth, too - it was affected by this virus and wanted one heck of a piece of Aris and his team for disturbing it.

A diminutive seed with a single sprout of two green leaves approached Aris and his fish, its eyes bloodshot and encircled with reddened bags. It brought with it the repugent scent of rotting produce, and its mouth was ringed with a sickly layer of spittle. The poor thing was deluded beyond understanding, an unfortunate effect of the aggressive virus in such a small creature. For once, Aris found himself taking pity upon something. He regretted giving Whiscash free reign with the previous Pokemon. Brain-addled and overly-aggressive, he should be trying to help them, not blow them away. He cared little for the results of the contest, just that he could perhaps continue to seek a balance by capturing the poor things.

"Whiscash, your not the man for this battle," directed Aris. The fattened fish slipped across a layer of slick fluid covering its body, and watched bemusedly from behind Aris as he sent out a replacement. Even stronger than he, Cynder appeared, her back aflame and rippling with heat blur. She had few in Opaddeka that could compare to her power, surely she would crush the small seed.

"Cynder, I need your precision here," said Aris, an acceptable explanation for his choice. "Circle us with Embers, make it keep its distance. A Swift, not too much, should weaken it enough." Cynder replied with a nod, and coughed up flaming and sparking embers. They skittered across the pavement, coming to rest in a semi-circle around the trio. She let loose from her hands a glowing white force, shaped into pointed stars. They soared through the small flames and burgeoning dark smoke.

Aris clutched the same lonely Park Ball from before. "This time, this time."

Well, I assume that the plan was to use the Embers merely as a barrier to deter the poor grass-thing, otherwise, this round will end the same as the last.

Sunkern's defensive stats leave a LOT to be desired, after all.

Still, on this assumption, the kernel pulls back with a squeal, the pokerus not infecting it so badly that it was quite suicidal yet, and it squeals again as a barrage of stars slam into it in rapid succession. The first barrage is certainly more than damaging enough...a second would kill it for sure.

The grass pokemon goes to lay down some roots to try and suck up some rejuvenating life from the earth, but the concrete slows the process down.

Even more so, the pokeball nailing it in the middle of its face and sucking it up slows it down more. Like completely.

Wiggle...ding. Didn't put up much of a fight, either.

In an instant, the addled seed was absorbed into the small green ball. It clattered to the ground and wriggled for a moment, and once pinging and stopping, Aris approach it to pick it up. His fingers snatched only air, though, as it fizzled immediately out of existence.

"Well, that's interesting," said Aris, retreating back to his Pokemon.

Devoid of a muse, Aris wandered further up the street, flanked by his two powerhouses. "Perhaps something more unusual will be waiting ahead."

And off they lumbered, I guess.

Well something was waiting ahead, perhaps not that unusual but it certainly wanted a piece of you. From the buildings above it swung down screaming like a banshee and dropped onto your head. Small fists began wailing on you. It's sudden appearance stunned even your two powerhouses. They didn't quite know what to do about this little monkey that seemed to have a really strong hate on for you.
