Over the treetops Aris flew, his ship creaking as the masts, spread wide, scooped out a mass of blowing wind. The toughened fabric stretched, each Kevlar weave pulled tight, pushing the ship onward and upward. Below, leaves stirred, and Aris knew that their occupants wouldn't be far behind. The higher he was, the better. He was hoping for quick and safe passage to Rose Town. His recent obsession with Gym battles was pulling his every atom towards the town. There, he hoped, he would find another event to satiate his hunger. The thrill of battle, the strategy, he needed more. "Come on girl, let's get moving. Just a little faster..." he urged, trying to speed his ship along. It was time he really tested what she could do. He tended to just let it drift in the wind, but today, he was really pushing it. It still creaked heartily as it sped along the skyline, but there was no longer any danger of something breaking off and causing some accident. Aris had long since taken the bindings off of the railing, where they threatened to snap, or snap something off. Replaced with tougher steel rope, he had fastened it to the deck, the underside of the ship, and even run a few all the way around it. The balloon had been strengthened and the sail replaced with Kevlar harvested from leftover OME suits. He was secure in the ship, and he pushed it on, feeling more at home than he had in quite a while. Things were going good, finally. |

.2 This would be a lot easier to mod if I had any idea where you had entered the forest from. The flying doesn't exactly help, but there's plenty to work around that, anyhow. So, goodness knows how much of this forest you have to cross over, but still, a lot of the time thing are willing to let well enough alone when it's a mile or two above the treetops, anyhow. *BOOM* A burst of sound abruptly attracts attention to the left of the ship, the reinforced metal bothered not in the least, even if the ship rocks the tiniest bit to the right from the backlash, nothing is really even harmed, and it was hardly different in result to a particularly strong gust of wind. *BOOM* There's another such sound from the opposite side this time, and shortly after, a pair of bright green dragonflies flit past again, not nearly as fast this time, and dart around the ship curiously, chattering among themselves. One alights on the bow for a few moments, looking down the length of the ship, and buzzes, flitting up as they circle the ship again, giggling. While possibly the noise is irritating...they don't seem hostile, just intrigued by this odd bird-thing in their airspace. And possibly a little amused at its speed, but they aren't really ones to judge, as they break the sound barrier often enough. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lv. 46 Lv. 46Seem to be examing your ship. Discussing the aerodynamics, possibly? |

.2 My bad, Deep Ravines Two sonic booms rang out in quick succession, and Aris was immediately struck with thoughts of terror. Have they found him, after all this time? But then, a high-pitched giggling trickled to his ears, and he knew there was only one thing that could be making such sounds. Turning towards the sound, he spotted the culprits: two Yanma, circling his ship, apparently amused. He had several options available to him. The creatures weren't disrupting his travels in anyway. After the latest events in his wandering, he didn't feel a twinge of annoyance, or a want to destroy them, as he surely could. Today, they were simply another creature as himself, keeping themselves busy by watching his ship. There was simply no way that he would harm them. He considered letting them grow bored and zoom away, but perhaps some rapport could be struck up with them as he went. It wouldn't slow him down any, so why not? So, speeding along above the treetops, he spoke. "What's so funny?" he asked lightheartedly. killin' timez |

.2 Coolness. *checks angles* Aha. Off to the right, the forest gradually appeared to die off, leaving tankled, twisted hulks of tree trunks, a gray an barren landscape that left a hopeless impression on the mind. However, it was still a bit of a distance, just more visible thant it would have been otherwise, due to elevation. At least you wouldn't have to pass over it to reach your destination, though you might come close, as it's slow nearing appearance indicated. No, all you would have to deal with were tree filled ravines that your ship just drifted over without a care in the world. Aside from two curious bugs. There wasa some surprised buzzing as you spoke up to them, but as no pokemon appeared to annihilate their existence, the bolder of the two, the male, as it were, alighted not too far from you, though safely out of arm's reach, and trusting in his speed to make for the hills if you were playing a trick or something. "Yanma?" The female bug landed a bit further away, doing a neat little midair flip to land on the balloon and poke at it. Not attemting to damage it, that was clear from the questioning trill, that the other yanma added his confirmation to, flicking his wings a bit, and cocking his head. The language barrier might be a little issue, unless you have a way around it, but they're at least trying to indicate what is up, as the female takes off again, circling around the vessel with another questioning buzz. It was rather likely that they wanted to know how something so seemingly bulky and heavy was airborne, judging by the one's movements, and the poke at the balloon. ~~~~~~~~~~ + Lv. 46~ Perfectly happy to chat with you for the moment, wondering how your ship flies, since it doesn't look aerodynamic to them A bit more than halfway through the ravine to thick trees, with dead trees 1 becoming mpore and more visible on your right. |

.3 As Aris conversed, watching the twisted tangle of trees fall away or grow higher in the view around his ship, it was immediately apparent that talking wasn't going to be the best form of conversation. Their voices were a high buzzing, like the moments when an old CRT-television turns on. With a rub of his chin, it occurred to him that the quickest way to converse would be simply through telepathy. "Hold on a moment!" he said, heavy on hand motions. He headed below-deck. There, a small room containing a table and cushy bench waited. The entire bow-facing wall was covered in crates and a small pot boiling away. Already made, and in-progress explosives of varying effectiveness. Medicham was calmly watching over them. "Need you," he said. She sighed, skimmed off a sickly white layer of gunk from the pot, and placed it in a strainer. She followed him above. With the lightest of purple fizzles, she connected the thoughts of Aris, and the two Yanma. One quickly zoomed off and began to circle the ship, prodding at the balloon. Ah, they wanted to know how his boat flew. "It's not like a plane, or a Pokemon like you," his thoughts were immediately transmitted over the air, directly to the Yanma's brain in a language it could understand. "No wings. See this?" He climbed up on the railing, risking a deathly fall. Grabbing one steel rope for balance, he tugged the nearest Kevlar sail from its position against the balloon. "Hot air. Rises, you know. This--" he pointed to a propane heater. "--heats it, and it's trapped in the balloon. Carries the ship up into the air, and these masts help me direct it. "I never need to go too high, so I usually only need enough air to keep it steady. I can go up with the sails and air-currents. Really cuts down on the amount of air needed. Ever seen a Drifblim? Same concept. You guys are more like our human planes though, or perhaps closer to a helicopter." Aris examined the fragile wings. "How strange. They move so fast, but never tear. Is it tiring?" Better than watching bleach bubble below-deck. |

.3 Much more interesting, yes. And a psychic does make it a lot easier, indeed. The two took to the air for a wary moment as Aris went down to get Medicham, but relaxed as all the fighter did was facilitate communication. They listened and watched with fascination as the human courted death, balancing on the railing like a trapeze artist for a moment or two, where a stray gust of wind could knock him to his doom if it came at the wrong time, then followed after as he pointed out the propane heater and explained about the hot air. "Hot air keeps it up? I didn't feel a thermal..." the male flitted over to the edge of the deck to test it. "No, you ninny...there's hot air in this." The female, annoyed at the guy's obtuseness, flits up to land on the baloon again. "He catches it in here and it pulls everything up." She frowned a little as she considered the comments on driftblims and helicopters, deciding she'd not seen the former, but decided that the latter was intended to be a compliment, and fluttered her wings a bit, though remained perched on the balloon for a moment. "That makes no sense..." he grumbled, flitting back over to land near Aris, cocking his head as Aris commented on their wings, curiously, and smirked. "They're a lot harder than they look." The wings buzzed the air a moment, though he didn't take off, as if to demonstrate. "And it's not tiring that I've noticed..." "You wouldn't have even noticed this if I hadn't pointed it out..." The female pointed out. "I'm sure if you flew for a week straight it'd be tiring, but not normally. Still..." The female poked at the balloon again, lightly. "This about as fast as it goes?" Seems Aris isn't the only one bored. |

.3 The Yanma were inquisitive, if a little silly. It was the perfect time-waster. "Not fragile? I've seen them shredded before." He winced to himself. Not the best imagery for the ones with the wings. "But, uh, if you say so. Of course, your specific species is probably more adapted to that motion, so I suppose it wouldn't tire you out, like you say." They flitted up and checked the balloon. Was it as fast as it could go? "Hardly. Well, on wind alone, maybe. It's hard to find any steady currents at this level, and like I said, it's a bit of a hassle to get it high enough for the jet stream, plus I don't have anyway of enclosing the deck yet. Not good for humans. But I sometimes have Medicham push it from behind or Swellow drags it, both of which can make it much faster. But Swellow tires out and Medicham gets 'head-aches'." Medicham shot an angry glance his direction. "But, this is normally fast enough for my purposes. You two are speedy though. Where are you headed?" |

.2 Quite. As you chatted, the scenery continued on past. A lot faster than it would have seemed without the chitchat. Reached Thick Trees. The male smirks a bit at the dubious expression and buzzes them again, the sunlight seeming to glint a bit off the edges as he does so. Well, that's not normal, generally. "Showoff," the female muttered, but didn't seem completely displeased. After all, if they were mated, that would likely be a good strong thing to pass on to babies. "We're not really headed anywhere in particular, actually...just...exploring. Seeing what there is to see. You know?" "Yeah, it's been fascinating so far, really. I've enjoyed it immensely." The male darted a quick circle around the ship again. "Never seen something like this before now, either. It's..." He didn't get to finish as a avian shriek warned him just in time to turn to face the shadow that dove out of the clouds at him. "Invaders!" he shrieked, as the bird plowed into him, and the female bug took to flight with a squeal, to try to help him. Well, now it's up to you. .2 The screech was blood-curdling, and the amiable Yanma darted away for battle or worse. His enjoyable conversation was broken off by the attacking Pidgeotto. He wouldn't have his new acquaintances harmed by some arrogant avian, obviously thinking it had the mettle to approach his airship. "Medicham, quickly!" shouted Aris, springing to the edge of that boat, and leaning over the railing. His hand dove into his pocket, clutching the handle of his OME-issue handgun. Ever since his arrest, he had carried it in an easily-accessible place. Though he was dedicated to going straight, some old habits never quite die. Medicham, meanwhile, had leaped onto the bar, landing softly and steadying herself with glowing hands. Three bursts of psychic energy were fired like bullets, and soared across the sky with a tail of fading purple. Just enough to knock it out of the air, and give the Yanma a chance to return to his ship. There, he hoped, he could get them healed. ![]() Lv. 44 132/132 (Psychic) ![]() Lv. 46 50/138 ![]() ~ About to get eaten by a Pidgeotto ~ Knows Steel Wing ![]() Lv. 46 138/138 ![]() ~ Going to help her companion vs. ![]() Lv. 57 171/171 ![]() ~ Mmm, bugs for dinner! |

.3 The bird shrieked again, his prize in his talons, beak jabbing viciously to rip out some tasty bug innards, only to shriek again in angered surprise as this attempt was met by a glistening barrier that the yanma hastily erected. Then, out of nowhere, a blast of purple-pink energy slammed into a wing, knocking him spinning. The male bug was released as the pidgeotto regained his equilibrium, and wasted not a moment darting toward the human, and behind him, landing on the deck, quivering. "Coward..." the female muttered, but without any real force behind it as Medicham, balancing like a dancer, gathered another orb to hurl. Rocks began to form in the air, even as the pidgeotto flared his wings, an identical ball forming in front of him and flashing toward Medicham. The psychic warrior was sent tumbling across the deck from the impact, but kept her focus, rolling to her feet as the bird was driven back by the flying stones, aiming carefully. She flung it as the bird dove once more, nailing it squarely and sending it over the side with a fading screech, falling to the forest below. "I say..." the male yanma managed from his position, still quivering. .3 Three portentous purple orbs grew into existence, powers of the mind made physical. In the blink of an eye, it snapped across Aris's field of vision, smashing the feathered midsection of the avian assailant. Reeling, the Pidgeotto released the Yanma, giving it time to scamper to safety on the ship. Leaning over, a Potion in hand, Aris tried to tend to the bug's wounds, but a woosh of speeding air nearly knocked him over the railing. Grabbing hold, he saw the bird skitter across the floor like a top, then send a mirror-image of Medicham's Psychic, catching her in the side. While she brushed it off, the other Yanma quickly dispatched of their antagonist, and returned to her friend's side. "Good show," muttered Aris soberly to the Yanma, while this time succeeding in applying a Hyper Potion. "Not so with you. What would have happened if I had ignored you earlier... Medicham, you next." He tossed a second Hyper Potion to her, which she happily applied. "So," said Aris, turning to look out across the Forest, eyes peeled for any more signs of danger. "Where exactly are you two headed? I'd feel horribly irresponsible if I left you to fend for yourselves after an attack like that. I could possibly take some time out of my journey to drop you off, given that it's not too far away." He paused. "But, I've kind of taken a liking to you two. I'd be willing to take you on to my team, and give you safe escort into town. Perhaps find you a good trainer if I can't do so myself. If you'd rather not, well, I can certainly understand... but, um. It's up to you." Still goin'. |

.3 (Dragon asked me to mod this cuz he (she?) didn't feel comfortable doing so, so...here ya go.) There was a fair amount of buzzing among the bugs, as the male was first healed, as they darted around the ship, mulling it over as the scenery started changing, yet again, fields appearing on the horizon, and a small town, perched on the border of forest and field...the destination, came into sight. The female landed after a while, with a faint sigh. "Men..." The male was already buzzing all around the ship, a bit proprietarily, admiring it from all angles. "I suppose for the moment we'll accompany you, anyhow..." She seems a little less eager to join, though not entirely loathe, casting an admiring look in Medicham's direction. With such allies...they would fare pretty well, after all... ~~~~~~~~ Eh, sure. You get two , one male, one female willing to join your party. The female is neutral and the male has 2 , because he thinks your boat is awesome. They have the following couple of rules. The male knows Steel Wing as a Tutor/TM move, and it cannot be forgotten. Trading one and not the other will immediately set both to 5 , no matter how happy they had been. They will not breed with anyone but each other. That's about it!Reached: Rose Town, too.
