Word Count: 5,786 Summary: Steely, stuck in the hospital in Misthenge, tries to find a way to occupy her time while she heals. She just so happens to decide that it'd be a great idea to learn how to electrocute things again, and make things float. Yeah, relaxing in the hospital. Goal/Reward: -Move Tutor for Magnet Rise -Free Steely from the restriction (that I put on, by the way) of needing an outside source to generate electricity for her Move Tutor Moves (Charge, Thunderpunch, Thunderbolt) Note: I began this with the simple idea of 'well, shit, Steely's stuck in the hospital for a while because of Neeruey, wtf am I gonna do?' and decided to write from there. Then I thought 'hey, since I made her only able to generate electricity with Things, why not have her figure out that she can do it completely on her own?' and went from there, again. NOW I got the idea to have this be one of her Move Tutor applications for a move I wasn't sure how I was going to Freeform for it. So, uh... thanks Mav! xD Also, the physics of this are a little wonky, mostly because I flat don't understand them. I tried to figure out the very best way to have this make sense, and explain it, then I realized that Steely would be able to understand this even less then I would. I *think* I got it all hammered out, though, but it's still kinda eeeeeh. And... there are a ton of intentional video game references in this. (Eight Total, I think. I didn't keep track as I wrote, and I don't feel like reading this thing again to find them all. xD) Whoever can name all of them (without any help from me), I'll tutor one of your Pokemon for free. This includes the Really Really Obvious Ones, too. I'm just counting the video game ones; there's at least one animated film and one cartoon/comic book one too. Extra points for those? >.> "She looks pretty bad... I'm really sort of surprised she's alive, but she's holding on. We'll need a lot of hardware to hold these broken bones into place... and a lot of staples. Looks like both her lungs will need to be re-inflated, and-" Zelda closed her eyes; ears slicked back against her head, and looked away, unable to pry anymore. Eavesdropping mentally on the doctors as they looked over Steely's x-rays while she was being stabilized in the emergency room was starting to get to the cat like creature. The pink Pokemon sat off to the side in the sterile hallway, able to sneak around since she was so stealthy. Also, her teleportation ability didn't hurt anything either. She sighed, dejected, and for once unsure of what to do. The Dynamic Duo of Steely and Cerby had just gotten back from fighting Neeruey, the Loch Neeru monster, for the Dive HM, and Steely had gotten the far shorter end of the stick - having the monster not only land on her in a belly flop, but had nearly been consumed by the beast too. It was because of that, though, that she was able to electrocute the monster and distract her long enough for the others to strike, allowing them to break off a piece of the horn for the both of them. As soon as they had entered the city, Steely's crew raced her to the emergency room, leaving Cerby to do whatever. Granted, Zelda liked the other girl well enough, but at the moment, she didn't much care about what she was up to. At some point she'd need to be filled in on the situation, but with the last thought in her mind being Steely wheeled away on a stretcher, wheezing blood as she had been since they'd left the lake, Zelda found that she was unable to think about much else. Needless to say, they were all very worried, though Kratos and Link were forced to stay outside since they were so big, and Zelos had been withdrawn so he didn't make a mess or anything. The door she had been stalking opened suddenly, snapping the psychic from her thoughts as she looked up at the three surgeons walking out, the first two talking, while the third actually took the time to notice the Pokemon. This was the same man that Zelda had found in the first place, and explained the situation to, and he noticed the Pokemon while the other two just continued walking. "Oh, hello again," Hello. The doctor hesitated, seeing the Espeon hesitate, as if she wanted to say something but wasn't quite sure how to word it. Eventually, her ears and whiskers drooped back, and she looked back up at the man with a tilted head. Could you... make sure she's comfortable? And... rather sedated when she wakes up? I'm afraid she's going to freak out when she sees where she is, the Pokemon said, looking away and off down the hall, deeper into the hospital. He tilted his head a bit at her, like he was thinking about it, before nodding once. "I'll see what I can do," Thank you, she sighed, turning and padding for the door with her tailtips in the air, I'll be back later, when she wakes up, -- The world was dark, dull, and stiff, pain held back by medication, nerves firing much more sluggishly then could be considered normal. Though, Steely's brain generally never worked too quickly in the first place. She knew she was awake, or at least that she should be awake, though everything felt muted and a few levels detached from where she was. And because of that, she found that she didn't really care about it, despite the fact that the last thing she remembered was a huge wave crashing into them at the Loch. This would normally be cause for concern, with being unable to feel much and trapped in darkness, but a cautious intake of breath confirmed that she was breathing air instead of, say, water. Oh good, you're awake. Steely couldn't see her Espeon, but the familiar feeling of her presence settled somewhere in her mind, and even with her body not really feeling too well, she felt something settle down on her left side (aha, she was laying down, wherever she was). Slowly, she managed to crack her eyes open, squinting against the bright whiteness and the pink blob that she could see. Shuuush, don't try and move too much, just relax, she soothed, and Steely felt the calming psychic energies poking over her brain. That was all well and good and whatnot, but as her brain started to try and come back to full working capacity, she started to realize that something was wrong here. What had happened with the monster? And Cerby? And the rest of her Pokemon? And everything else? Even though she didn't voice her concerns, she started to try, and felt a light paw poking at her head, Think at me instead of talking, it'll be a lot easier, [Easy for you to say,] she attempted to think at the Espeon, unaware that it had actually worked. Something moved and settled down right up against the left side of her torso, partially resting on her, Well, you just did it, so it couldn't be that difficult, right? she heard Zelda say kindly. [Where are we?] Zelda hesitated at this, ears standing straight up as she considered her answer. Though, there was really nothing that she felt comfortable saying, other then the truth. But with the girl's sluggish mind, she figured it would be better to wait and give the full details later. We're in Misthenge, in the hospital. You guys got the HM, but, well... she trailed off, ears drooping down again. She felt guilty about what had happened, since she really didn't help too much... even though she had teleported in and saved Steely from getting eaten and all. Finally able to open her eyes a bit more, Steely blinked groggily at the Espeon, and reached her left hand up to stroke the Pokemon's side pensively. Zelda was rather pleased, it looked like she was nice and comfortable and not too intent on much of anything, just like she'd asked that doctor. It was for the best, for now anyways. Steely was not the type to just lie around, even if she was badly hurt. [How's Cerby?] She's fine. A little battered, but she's at the Pokemon Center, itching to go somewhere, she flicked her tail, looking around. Over at the window, two Pokemon loomed; Kratos and Link. The two dragons were too big to get in, so instead they perched on the wall, heads poking inside, and just making sure everything was alright. Steely could hear the unease in the Pokemon's thoughts, much more aware of their connection then Zelda thought she was. She brought her hand up to pet one of the Espeon's big ears, thinking slowly. [Sort of sounds like you are too. Why don't you go with her?] Startled, Zelda sat up a little bit, peering down at her. The Espeon was sort of the same mind as their friend; she hated being stuck somewhere for too long, especially if she was well and truly stuck. When she'd lived in Primeval Forest, aside from when she'd had an egg, she was free to do whatever she wanted. And even with Steely, the Pokemon had a great degree of freedom that she hardly ever saw with trainers. Long story short, she hated being stuck in one spot. Are you sure? I don't want to leave you here by yourself, [I'm sure. I have the others here anyways. You go on and keep an eye on them,] she was starting to feel groggy and tired again, and wanted to go back to sleep. The numb and slight dull pain everywhere was starting to get to her, as was an odd feeling in her chest that she didn't much like. Sleep sounded very nice at this point, yes. [G'wan then,] she thought with a little smile, letting her hand drop back off to the side where she was laying. Zelda waited till she was sure Steely was asleep before gently hopping down, hesitating for a few seconds before she padded off back to the Center, not entirely sure about what she was going to do now. -- Time seemed to have no beginning and no end for a while, so Steely wasn't entirely sure how long she spent drifting in and out of dreaming, but at some point she started to feel more awake and generally better. Sure, she was sore as all hell, just about everywhere, but at least she didn't feel like she wanted to pass out. At some point she'd noticed Kratos and Link lurking at the window, and that the room was notably empty other then herself. She didn't mind; sure that she would be unable to speak right now anyways, but it left everything rather quiet. Aside from all the machines in here, which she had noticed at some point. There were the expected Hospital Machinery that she didn't know what it was (she did know that the one beeping was a heart rate, though), but there were other things that she just used her imagination on. (And that machine is an Awesome Meter, that's why it has such high numbers on i-) "Aha, good, you're awake for once," She would have jumped if it had been any other time; today she only slowly looked over at the doctor fellow. Spiky brown hair that sort of fell into his face, brown eyes, glasses, typical doctor look for the rest of him, though he had what looked like some headphones or something hanging from his neck. Not the typical stethoscope that you'd expect. She didn't give it too much thought, he looked like he was gonna talk again. "I was hoping I'd be able to see how you're doing," The two dragons at the window were watching carefully, perched and ready to tear open the window if they had to, but Steely wasn't worried at all. Over protectiveness of her Pokemon aside, there was something about this guy that made her at ease. Add in the fact that she didn't really have the capacity to worry at the moment, and that meant that, to her, everything was peachy keen. They went over what she expected to hear; what all her injuries had been and that it looked like everything had been patched up and stapled back into place. All she needed was time and lots of rest. Except for there was one little odd thing... "You know, I just remembered," he said suddenly, flipping through his clipboard, "Do you happen to eat a lot of salty food? Your electrolytes are sort of high," he looked up at Steely, to see a very baffled look on her face. Well, looks like he'd have to explain, "Electrolytes... they're basically really important, and you have a lot more of them then is considered normal. It doesn't seem to be affecting you badly, though," ...still a sort of blank look. He recalled the nasty looking scar that she had; the electrical themes of the tattoos on her arm, and past medical records. Aha, there was a way he could relate it back to her. "You conduct electricity, basically, but I think you already knew that," he smiled as realization seemed to finally dawn on her sluggish brain, and she looked surprised at this new knowledge, "Though, given your past medical records, it's not too surprising, huh?" Finally done flipping through his paperwork, with nothing else to say, he paused a second, since it looked like she wanted to say something, but eventually she just settled down a bit to ponder this knew information. He got up to leave, offering her a smile, which she returned the best she could. "Thank you so much, by the way," she said finally. The doctor paused before grinning at her. "It was no problem, really. I've dealt with much worse," -- Steely spent the next few days reading about electrolytes and electrical current, even discovering what had been going on before with the electricity she had (at first) accidentally generated. Something about contact electrification and positive and negative charges... she forgot it quickly. What it boiled down to was what she already knew; she needed something else to generate the current before she could manipulate it. Granted, there was absolutely no way for her to explain how this all was possible in the first place, since 'hey, I got struck by lightning, and years later I discovered I could do this!' didn't make too much sense. Yet that was the only thing she could think of to explain the beginning of the phenomenon. (Whatever it means at this point,) she thought, almost bitterly, as she manipulated her Poketech with one hand, leaving her broken and disabled right arm to rest at her side. This was the only one of her things that she had, though the dual dragons at the window had her Pokeballs (minus Zelda's, since she was currently gallivanting around with Cerby, wherever they were), and the rest of her things were stored away at the Center somewhere. What it boiled down to was that she couldn't even generate that current she'd gotten so used to, and only now did she realize how important it was to her. "Don't know what you've got till it's gone, am I right?" she said, the thought intended only for herself, but someone heard it. Kratos, head resting on the windowsill, lifted it with a twitch of his head spikes. "Oh?" "Yeah. Well," pushing her elbow back onto the bed, she tried to sit up to better see her Pokemon in the window, only for most of her ribcage and her shoulders to be set ablaze with pain. Steely dropped back down onto her back, trying to take a deep breath but somewhat failing at that too. "Being able to move without hurting, number one," she responded finally, raising her relatively unhurt hand to show what she was really talking about. While at one time, she could have easily gained a charge from the things she carried on her person... no dice this time. "And I kinda miss that whole zapping thing. But I can't do it on my own," Outside, Link twitched his tail and looked at the Salamence, who appeared to be pondering something. Kratos eventually adjusted his claws so he could climb up a little bit, and stick his whole head and neck in, just about able to reach the girl, who was watching him curiously. "I'm sure Yuan could help you with that. Unlike your friend's Pikachu, he doesn't have somewhere he stores the electricity all the time, so he has to gather it by other means," Kratymence tilted his head a little, one of his reddish eyeridges raising, "And I'm sure he'd like to be out for a little while," Steely would have facepalmed if she had a free hand, "Yeah, I know. How about you two go the center and switch him into the group," with Poketech in hand, she scanned her boxes, selecting her other two electric Pokemon in the hopes that they could help, "Get Joule and Desoto too, here," The both of them had to stretch out as far as they could manage, with their limitations, but the Salamence gently took the Poketech in his mouth and ducked back out the window, gesturing with his head off towards the Center. Both dragons pushed off and took to the air, the sounds of their wings quickly fading and leaving her in silence. ...well. Mostly silence. (...that beeping machine is going to get really annoying, really fast,) -- The dragons returned a while later, taking so long only because it was hard to manipulate a mouse and a keyboard with huge claws and talons. Without warning or preamble, Kratos tossed the balls out onto the hospital floor, before spitting the Poketech to land in Steely's lap. Three balls of light formed into three balls of energy, one moreso then the others. Yuan, Desoto, and Joule; Luxio, Raichu, Electrike. Yuan seemed a little baffled, twitching his ears and looking around. The Luxio's tail wiggled around, and being closest to the window, Kratos leaned out and snorted at the back of the cat's head, making him spark and jump, spinning around to see his friend. "You... grew. A lot. When did this happen?" he asked, bewildered that his formerly little friend was a big full grown dragon now. "A little while ago," he shrugged, looking over to the other two Pokemon. Desoto's ears shot up, cheeks buzzing, and after a quick look around, he figured what was going on, and padded over to Steely, still sparking a little bit. "Huh, it got stronger," he pointed out, pulling himself up to perch on the edge of her bed, even while Joule the Electrike streaked past under him, sniffing the floor intently with her tail wagging madly in the air. "What's that?" she asked, reaching over to pet the Raichu's ears, letting the rat lean into her hand, "That electrical feeling I got from you before, remember?" Desoto sat down on the edge of her bed, keeping his tail up so Joule didn't get any bright ideas and try to bite it. "It's a lot stronger," he reached down, taking her hand much like he had last time, examining it. He was also noticing an odd anomaly in her magnetic field that he hadn't noticed the last time, which would explain the current control. He didn't know how to put the simple feeling he got into those terms, though. "I can't do anything without my gloves, though," she told the Raichu, getting to the point of why they were here. The electric rat 'hm'-ed thoughtfully, not sure that was particularly true. The electric dog, hearing the conversation, ran over and put her paws up on the bed, panting and looking merrily at Steely, closing her eyes when the girl reached over to stroke her shiny blue and gold striped head. "You know, I don't think so," Desoto twitched his ears, and patted her hand with a smile, "You still have the feeling that you had before, and it's stronger. I store my electricity, but the little one here doesn't" he patted Joule on the head, and the dog rumbled happily. "I could help with that," Yuan piped up, padding over to hop up onto the other side of her bed, paws up. The Electrike growled at the Luxio, who hissed and buzzed back at her. "Enough, you two," she patted the both of them, getting a little huff from Yuan, ears pinned back. "And all three of you are going to help me..." -- They waited until she felt stronger and could move a little more without unbearable pain before putting their plan into motion. All three Pokemon were capable of holding a charge, much like she once could with some assistance. That would be where they would start. The beginning, again. Gathering the charge. "Rattigan over there holds his energy in his cheeks, but the mutt and I have to find it as we're using it," Yuan explained, pacing back and fourth in the sterile room, his starred tail flicking anxiously in the air behind him. Jould had hauled herself up onto the bed, and was half laying on Steely, nose twitching, leaving Desoto to monopolize the girl's other side, peering over his belly as he lay on his back. "So in theory, you could too," he stopped, looking over. It was a sound theory, and really, there was no harm in trying it. Same principal, the only limiting factor was the fact that they were Pokemon and she was not. Pokemon were predisposed to shooting electricity, and humans were not. "So, how do you guys do it, then?" she questioned at the dog and cat. Joule lifted her head, licking her nose while she thought to explain it, "I just get the current from somewhere and hold it in my body... or shoot it, depending," she said, tail wagging, "Beyond just knowing, I couldn't tell you how I do it. I can feel something like it always, though, and I just have to think a little to use it," "Same here," Yuan admitted, paws padding the floor as he closed the distance over to her, sitting down on the floor and looking up at them. He was no housecat; he didn't want to sit up there. The trainer didn't voice her own thoughts on the matter, but the matter boiled down to the same thing for her. For a while now, she could sense something in the air and about herself that she hadn't noticed years ago... or even been able to notice. Only recently had she really noticed and realized what it was: Whatever bizarre powers she'd gained along the way. "...well. Either way, I should be able to do the same thing, right?" a general nod all around, "So... well, now I try it," It sounded like a simple idea, but putting it into practice was going to be... difficult. She lacked knowledge of what exactly she was doing, and only knew what it had felt like when she was doing it. Whatever she'd been doing. Now, she had to get there again. She was quietly hoping it would be as easy as it was for the others. Pushing her elbows down to sit more upright, she managed to wiggle up and lean back against her pillows, raising her usable arm up and wiggling her fingers. When the expected nothing happened, she sighed and focused. Dredging up memories, she tried to remember the last time she'd done this. Some part of her knew she'd used it against Neeruey, but the whole fight with the sea monster was absent from her mind, so she thought back to the time before. The fight with Akuryo, in the jungle; the day of discovery; the moment when she'd been able to shoot a bolt of electricity from her own body, all with her own abilities. It had started well before that, back in Radloff, with the contact of metal on leather, and the sudden gathering of electrical charge. Standing outside, in the middle of Radloff in the middle of the night, Steely looked down at her gloved hands in wonder. Earlier in the day, it had happened on accident, the contact and the electrification that had resulted. Desoto, her Raichu, thought it was pretty awesome, and had charged up his own electricity by rubbing his fur. But, it had been an accident. Now, she was trying to do it intentionally. The worst that would happen, she reasoned, was that she was going to electrocute herself, which wasn't a new experience to her. Thus, the contact electrification began, the metal on the back of her glove being rubbed by the palm of her other hand. The feeling coursed through her body, the draw of the electrical current slowly building... Thinking back to that day, she was dumped back in reality, hearing a gasp from Joule, and feeling the Electrike stand up... right on her. "Ow, ow, ow, Joule," she squeaked and wheezed, pushing the blue Pokemon off of her bruised belly, "Some of my organs are still in alphabetical order, don't do that," "Do that again!" she barked, nearly jumping on the bedridden girl again in her excitement. "Do...?" she looked around at the other two, seeing Yuan looking surprised, and Desoto smirking. Had she done it? To be sure, she had to pay attention this time. Focusing back on her self, she felt a shift somewhere, and a snapping buzz cut through the air, caused by an arc of bright blue electricity that zipped between her fingers, getting bigger till she closed her hand, which crackled with the arc. She looked up at the other three, all bathed in a faint blue light, seeing the excited grin from the Electrike, the little smile from the Raichu, and the curious look from the Luxio. Unable to keep the chuckle from passing her lips at their looks, she opened her hand to wiggle her fingers as the electrical current traveled all through her hand, manifesting in a thin, webbing arc of blue-silver light that buzzed over the sound of the rest of the equipment. "Heh... I'm a force of nature," -- Some time later, the doctor from before was walking down that hall, reviewing some paperwork. He put his hand on the door knob, starting to open it, when he heard some odd noise. Sounded like something was going on in there. "...I'm almost afraid to open the door," he mumbled, but readied himself anyways, and quietly eased the door open to look, hoping he didn't see any strange things crawling around, or something horrible like that. Instead, what he did see was a chubby Raichu throwing a black and gold Pokeball into the air, while his patient shot a small arc of electricity out of her fingers, hitting the ball in midair, where it was thrown off to the side to be caught by an odd colored Electrike. The cycle continued on, Electrike taking it back to Raichu, who had to wrestle it from the dog before tossing it into the air again. "...I'm not even going to ask," he mumbled, quietly closing the door and leaving them to... whatever it was they were doing. -- The game was helping Steely's aim with a low voltage Thunderbolt, but at some point or another, she shot well wide of the target, with the electricity striking the wall and arcing off from that point. Even before anyone could yelp, it blew out one of the light bulbs in the ceiling. Luckily the bulb was covered by the plastic ceiling tile, so they didn't get showered with glass. "Nice job breaking it, hero," Yuan laughed from where he was laying by the window. "Oops," she squeaked, hands in fists at her mouth, eyes wide. Desoto turned a little to look up at it, and started laughing. "Not funny, guys," Joule was the only one not chuckling to some degree, eyes fixed on the door, and invisible ears intently up. A growl rose to her throat, alerting the others to her, only for them to follow her gaze to the door. They noticed the knob turning... "Oh snap," "Hide, quick," she hissed, slouching back down. Desoto made a dive for the machinery, sliding on his belly to hide behind it. Kratos leaned in through the window and grabbed Yuan by the scruff, yanking him outside and out of sight. "Don't manhandle me," the cat hissed with paws flailing in the air, only getting a muffled chuckle in response from his purple, winged friend. Both dragons continued perching on the building outside, claws dug in, though unseen to the inside. "Joule, hide," she said urgently to the Electrike, who was hopping back and fourth, not sure of where to go. She spotted the bed Steely was in, and dove under it, just as the door opened. The doctor looked around cautiously, eyes falling on a Steely with a huge grin. Nothing strange going on in here, nooooo. He smiled, a little, but looked a little skeptical at the same time. "Thought I heard something in here," he said, taking a look around as he walked in while Steely kept up the stupid grin. He had just about gotten half way to her when he heard a thumping, coming from under the bed. "..." "...?" Yeah, she was still trying to look innocent, even as he kneeled down to see the blue Electrike, thumping her tail on the ground and looking merry. "...yours?" "...yeaaaaah," "Rai?" Desoto poked his head out, ears fanned out and twitching. Something out at the window scrabbled, and Yuan clawed his way back inside, getting out of the dragon's grip. "...also yours?" "Yup," "Trike!" Joule wormed her way out, merrily trotting over to the doctor with her tongue hanging out. "That's Joule. Desoto is over there, and Yuan is lurking at the window," she said, watching the doctor pat Joule on the head. "Practicing?" "...something like that," she was staring up at the broken light, but he hadn't seemed to have notice. When he looked back up at her, she quickly looked away, back at him. "It's kinda boring here," she admitted, slouching. "Well, you should be getting out of here soon," he smiled, "Everything appears to have settled back into place, and aside from your arm and some bruising, you seem alright," "That's good," she sighed, really wanting to get the heck out of dodge already. Cerby was off having adventures without her, and she was starting to feel left out, despite the fun they were having. The doctor patted the Pokemon once more, and stood up. He hadn't planned on doing anything more then just checking on her, and seeing that she was alright; he had other things to be done. "Hey man, I just realized something. I don't know your name," she suddenly piped up, looking at his back as he stopped. The doctor realized that he never introduced himself, and looked over his shoulder to grin at her, "My name is Derek. Derek Stiles," -- "That Derek fellow is nice for letting you guys stick around in here," Steely said some time later, stroking Joule's head, with the Electrike sprawled against her side. Off to the side, Desoto was watching the cluster of machinery, not understanding the readings from them, but interested in the moving dials and blinking lights. At the window still, Yuan and Kratos were talking about something or another, leaving Steely and Joule to bond a little while. The dog gave a sleepy rumble, tail wagging again. Still pondering everything, Steely tried to form her electricity again, the current quickly started buzzing between her fingers as she focused on it. It feathered off into the air again, leaving her with a sigh and a thought. She wondered what else she could do with this, and went back to thinking. "Rrr?" Joule suddenly lifted her head, peering curiously at Steely, her fur standing up, but not of her own power. She felt a little woozy, and stood up, almost feeling a repelling feeling from Steely. Like she was being pushed away. Her trainer looked deep in thought, and she didn't want to interrupt, so instead she tried to get rid of that repelling feeling by duplicating it. "Oooh, this is fun," Somehow or another, Steely had spaced out and didn't notice the blue and golden Pokemon floating next to her, flailing her paws in the air. Joule's voice managed to get her to look. Her thoughts and concentration completely broken by the sight, the electric dog floated down a little bit, but didn't touch back down again. She did lick her nose, narrow her eyes, and suddenly dropped back down where she had been. "How?" "Do that again, that was cool!" she barked, tail a blur. "What?" "That pushing thing. I did the same thing and I got to fly!" she barked, bouncing on her paws. Steely didn't know what she was talking about, for a few seconds anyways. "Pushing... huh," she shook her head, an idea forming in her mind, and flipped open her Poketech with one hand, touching the screen to navigate to what she was trying to find. "Electromagnetic fields," she said suddenly. The word meant nothing to Joule, so she simply grinned and continued wagging her tail. "Oh... nevermind. I think I just figured out something, though," She had somehow made a magnetic field. Or, she somehow was said field. She was electrically charged; that much she knew. The electrical current made a magnetic field. The two interacted and fed back on each other, and made the charge, or the magnetic field, stronger. Somehow, she had control over all this. Boy the Pokemon World is crazy, huh? "Sometimes I wonder if I'm constantly on drugs or something, because my life has been weird ever since I left Little Hillmoss," she mumbled. No time to worry about that, she thought as she shook her head. "Again?" Joule said hopefully, tail still wagging like mad. "Again, sure," she chuckled. Now it was a (not so) simple matter of replicating what she'd done before. But now at least she knew what she was doing; magnetic repulsion. She wasn't consciously aware of how she shot lightning from her hands, or even how she simply moved in general. She just... did it. "C'mere," she held her hands out for the thunder dog, and she padded over with her tongue hanging out. "Copy what I do, and you should get up pretty high," she said, not noticing that Desoto and Yuan were watching intently. The electric Pokemon felt a shift in the electric fields, and suddenly started to rise. Eager to fly high, she did the same thing, rising even higher. The young pup giggled and wiggled her paws, feeling strange with no ground under them. Steely couldn't hold back her own chuckles, and the dog hovered in the air for a bit before dropping back down. "That was SO COOL!" she barked, jumping down to the floor to run around the room. Her trainer watched, though seemed lost in thought. "You know Joule, I bet you could do it on your own," she said suddenly, tilting her head at the electric type, who perked up even more at the idea. "Just do the same thing. You won't get as high, bu-" Joule was a leap and a bound ahead of Steely, fur crackling as she rose into the air. "Woooo!" she howled, soaring around above the ground. She still tried to run in midair, which looked strange, but still. "Hey, show me how to do that!" the rat squeaked, scampering over. Even Yuan stood up and padded over, flicking his tail at his friend's chuckling. Steely set to teaching them too, another thought on her mind. (With this, I can float above the ground, I think. Which means... I'll never fall over from another earthquake again!) she thought with a grin. With all the electric types hovering around and laughing, she settled back down, trying not to jar her arm. "Now I just have to wait for Cerby to come back... and relax a little bit," Pause. "And get this damn cast off at some point," Edited by Steel Cerberus, Sep 17 2009, 08:06 PM.

Hi, I'll be your friendly supermod for this grading. Okay, it started quite slowly, but once you got to the actual electricity part, it was good. I liked the little interactions between Steely and her pokémon, and the electric pokémon between themselves. I felt it ended a bit abruptly, though. I can't really elaborate, it's just that I was expecting a closing scene after the whole levitation thing. Overall, the story still works, though. The physics involved is solid enough to be somewhat believable. Your understanding of Magnet Rise is pretty much how I see it, and electrolytes help with current condution, so I guess that works. Everything else in the guidelines checks out, so all that you need is enough to get Magnet Rise.On to the actual score, then. Your net total works out at 13 . Magnet Rise is 10 , so you can have that. Not sure how to price the second reward, but it was your own restriction in the first place, so I'll just throw it in as a bonus. That gives you 3 to play with.Congratulations on your new status as a Magnet Rise Move Tutor. ~~~~~ References I found: The Device Has Been Modified - Portal Derek Stiles - Trauma Center "I'm a force of nature" - Team Fortress 2 Zelda, Link (pokémon) - Legend of Zelda series "Some of my organs are still in alphabetical order, don't do that," - The Crow ("Somebody stuck his blades in all his major organs in alphabetical order!") "Nice job breaking it, hero" - Portal The Dynamic Duo of Steely and Cerby - The Dynamic Duo of Batman and Robin Awesome Meter - Amped 3 Rattigan - The Great Mouse Detective (one t) Edited by Frac, Sep 18 2009, 11:26 AM.

Glee. .5 for grading eet. I'll save the EXP until Zelda and Cerby get back here, I think. Yeah. And the one that Frac missed, that I was thinking of: Kratos and Yuan are from Tales of Symphonia The Crow, Batman and Robin, and Amped 3 were the ones that I didn't do on purpose/have never played those games and I wasn't thinking of Batman and Robin when I wrote that, lol. |
