After all the distance he'd covered on foot as of late, Alex didn't really want to walk right now if he could help it. So he did the smart, lazy thing, and decided to drive.

The military jeep was designed for rough, marshy terrain like this. With the deep-tread tyres and the high ground clearance and the wide wheelbase, shallow swamplands wouldn't be a problem. Even the smell of the ambient pollution was diminished, thanks to the vehicle's air filtering system.

From the passenger seat, Guru watched the passing scenery with all the interest a bored child would have.

So, where are we headed?

"Ocean, then back to Tromante."

A few moments passed.

Are we there yet?

Alex quirked an eyebrow, and Guru twitched his moustache.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

...hi. >.> Someone devious sent me to mod you, ehehehehe.

As if I wouldn't have anyways, but still.

ANYWAYS!

Being in a jeep was a good way to scare off any wild critters, and to get to a destination pretty quickly. Unfortunately it wasn't good for those critters that were too damn slow to get the fuck out.

Which, Alex got a good, up close look at one of these critters when something went BAM into the front of his jeep, and went flying up to splat right into the driver's side windshield, whichever side it's on for ya.

It was a lot of purple muck that was splattered there, that moaned pitifully. He hit a Grimer, oh noes! I think it goes without saying that he can't see now.

Road kill.

"What are you t-"

*splat*

With his vision suddenly obscured, Alex immediately stamped on the brakes, causing the jeep to skid to a halt in the marsh. Okay, no harm done, just scrape the sludge off the windscreen and he could get going again. He got out of the jeep, and inspected the purple blob stuck to it.

"Ack, I hit a Grimer." At least it was still moving. "Sorry. I'll help you off."

He moved to pry the squishy critter off the windscreen, but stopped. From what he'd heard, Grimer were comprised of a toxic sludge. Probably not a good idea to make skin contact.

"Guru, a little help?"

The Alakazam fired up his brain slightly, just enough to move the Grimer back onto the soft ground. This was harmless telekinesis, not the nasty mind melting psychic bursts that had felled the Nidoran earlier.

Another apology to the Grimer, and after a quick check to make sure it wasn't badly injured, and Alex moved to get back into the keep and drive off. That was the plan, anyway.

Moving away if no shenanigans are intended.

.3 :gexp for Alex's reaction. I giggled.

The Grimer was disorientated and confused and simply allowed himself to be pried off or whatever. Unfortunately for Alex, he was going to have to clean his windshield off, for there was a thick film of semi-transparent sludge on the windshield, that was hard to impossible to see through.

That and, stopping so suddenly in a swampy area... yeah. He'd kinda sunk into the muck. If/when he cleaned the windshield off, and got back in to go, they wouldn't move. If he punched it, it would just sling poisoned mud everywhere behind them.

Four wheel drive or not, looks like they were stuck. And, yeah, this still happens with 4x4's, trust me. >.>

Luckily, instead of being angry, the Grimer sludged off to find some aspirin or something.

So you didn't kill the Grimer after all. That's the good news.

Alex was inspecting the jeep, checking it for any structural damage. Unsurprisingly, colliding with goo hadn't caused any.

"Not killing something is definitely good news." He paused. "Wait, that means there's bad news, isn't there?"

You braked so violently that the jeep's in six inches of toxic sludge. Oh, and the windscreen might need wiping, of course.

The trainer glanced at the wheels, then at the windscreen. Guru was right, as usual. Ah well, they weren't major problems.

"Windscreen first. Should be able to wash it off."

For that, Sturz materialised on the jeep's bonnet. Under Alex's instruction, the Marshtomp used his water jets to rinse away the icky translucent goo. That, coupled with the sweeping actions of the wipers themselves, and the windscreen was soon clear.

Now to unstick the jeep. Digging it out was a possibility, but that required time, effort, and direct contact with the gunk. Not a good idea. No, a much better idea was to take advantage of the pokéball technology that had been adapted for the jeep. All Alex had to do was produce the jeep's storage capsule and beam it inside. Then he walked forward for fifty feet or so, until he got to a decently solid patch of ground that the jeep wouldn't immediately sink into. After that, he released the jeep again, so that it now rested happily on the mud, rather than in it. Recalling Sturz, and getting back into the vehicle with Guru, he set off again, towards the coast. There was sailing to be done.

So, going with the obvious solutions here, Alex cleaned off the windshield with a water type and the wipers, and lolported the jeep. Yeah, I figured he was going to do that.

Then they were off again.

AND SUDDENLY. BUMP THUMP AUGH ANOTH-

No, not another Grimer. I'm not that mean. >:

But, he reached the coast without mowing anything else over or otherwise having the forces of nature slow him down or stop him along the way.

Hooray, ocean!

Ew, it kinda looked nasty! At least right on the beach, anyways. The water got nicer further out.

Pulling up at the shore, Alex and Guru got out of the jeep, and the vehicle was recalled. The next part of this trip would be made on the water, so Alex sent out the pokémon he'd brought along as primary transport.

Anarch materialised in the murky water, and grimaced slightly when he got whiff of the air. Alex was quick to reassure the beast.

"Don't worry Anarch, we won't be here long. Could you take us out to sea? I want us to head east again."

The Gyarados nodded, and lowered his head so that Alex and Guru could climb aboard. Then Anarch pushed himself out to deeper, cleaner water. Once they hit the open ocean, then the rest of the party could join them.

Heading out to sea. Can be Ocean time nao?
