So you wanna be a master?

Continuing. So. "Shit!" Hole. Sparky and Dashboard sprang from her shoulders, landing on the ground just behind the pitfall as Cerb yelped and fell in. While she was lying at the bottom of the pit whining and rubbing her sore limbs, the two Pikachu leaned over the edge to look down and chitter at her. Seriously, should've brought the Absol and now look where we are. In a pit. "I should've suspected this coming...and I didn't." Grumbling, Cerb slowly got up and stretched out her legs, before looking up to where the lip of the pit was. "Gimme a hand guys, I'm comin' up." Stretching her arms up, Cerb jumped and grabbed onto the grass at the edge, while digging her boots into the side of the dirt walls. Kicking at the dirt, she managed to make herself a foothold to stick her toes on with one foot, while the other kicked another foothold a little higher in the wall. With the help of her two Pikachu pulling on her arms, Cerb slowly managed to pull herself out and flop on the ground, covered in dirt and panting again. "Huuurgh, this area is not going to leave pleasant memories." Whuffing, the teen looked around and brushed some dirt off herself, thinking. "I need a stick. One of you go find a stick, hunh?" Sparky and Dashboard turned and darted back off towards the forest, coming back later with a stick held in their mouths between them. "That's good rodents. Hokay, let's try this again." Standing up and reloading her Pikachus onto her shoulders, Cerb used the stick to stab at the ground beneath all the leafy plants in front of them before she walked on it, so she wouldn't fall in another hole again. -- Currently: Pitfall Area [--> Felcrest] Looking for a Snubbull. |

0.3 ![]() See what happens when you don't bring Delphi with you? At least let the poor gal out of PC when you get back to town so she isn't sitting in there wondering if there's still a trainer alive out there to get her out. Her Absol senses have probably been tingling like mad back in the computer. Like right now, for instance. Absol senses tingling...Look out! No, not another pitfall. You managed to detect the one right in front of you with your stick and move around it. This bit of misfortune took a different form. Punt. "Meeeeoooow!" Splat! Cerby's face, meet Glameow. "An' stay out, cat!" hollered an Electrike, flanked by two growling Poochyena, as they emerged from the bushes. Then they saw that their furry projectile had hit a trainer and, with a simultaneous yelp, they all darted back into the bushes and out of sight. Not that you could see them in your current situation, but at least but Sparky and Dashboard could. Either the Glameow was dazed or passed out, because there was neither any movement from her, nor would there be any resistance if you removed her. "Meow..." Okay, she's dazed, then. .3 ![]() The apparent stupidity of leaving home without an Absol is becoming clearer by the second. We can all bet Cerb learns something from this. "Eeeh, hole," she grumbled as her stick stabbed into nothingness in front of her. Using the stick as a guide and dragging it along the perimeter of the pitfall wall so she knew where it was, Cerb skittered along the edge of it and continued meandering. SPLAT. "...son of a nun," or at least that's what Sparky and Dashboard thought she said. It was hard to tell with the Glameow in the way. After a slow moment of comprehending that there was a thing on her face and that it was fuzzy, Cerb lifted the stick up so Dashboard could grab it, and then reached with both her hands to grab the kitty under the armpits and pry it off her face, spitting out grey hairs as she did so. "Weeeell. I've been beaned by a lot of things in my lifetime, but never a kitty," she observed, looking over the stunned Glameow. The usual culprits for face violation were rocks and bricks and bars of soap. "Poor kitty." The two Pikachu on her shoulders chittered in unison. They had their own opinion about cats, obviously. "Oh blah at the both of you. I guess electroshock therapy is out of the question." Cerb gently set the Glameow down on the ground with her legs under her, so she could at least get up easier. "Maybe she can help us whenever she comes around." So they stood and guarded the kitty from more dogs or Death from Above. -- Guarding a kitty. Edited by Cerby, Aug 20 2009, 12:29 PM.

0.3 ![]() Nothing appeared to cause more trouble to the Glameow, luckily. No other dogs, and no Death from Above (Most birds of prey wouldn't tangle with something with potentially sharper claws than them, anyway, though given that you managed to find one with a taste for electric types...), and eventually a little, "Meow..." came from the cat, and she slowly got up. She was still dizzy from her flight, however, and stumbled left and right as she tried to get her balance back. "Meow!" Thud! You know that pitfall you just avoided falling into? There was now a kitty at the bottom of it. The 'cats land on their feet' bit didn't seem to apply to the dizzy ones, because she was laying there with her legs all sprawled out and wearing her spiral tail for a hat. And necklace. This was really not a good day for her all around. "Meeeeeoooooooow!" "Get me out of here!" came a yowl from the pit. Had she even realized that there was someone to hear her screeching orders? Your guess is as good as mine. Glameow have a tendacy to give orders with the expectation that the universe itself will bend over backwards to do their bidding. .3 ![]() Cerb watched the kitty get up, reaching to take back her stick from Dashboard so there'd be no more falling in holes and whatnot for them. Except the Glameow fell very unglamorously into the hole. Oh dear. "Uh. Oh boy." Reaching to push some plants aside, Cerb very carefully leaned over the edge to look down at the stunned cat lying down at the bottom of the pit. "Take it easy, kitty, you're gonna be okay." Sitting back on her heels, the teen took a moment to consider exactly how she was going to get the Glameow out of the pit. Cerb herself couldn't reach all the way down there, and she certainly wasn't jumping in another hole just to grab an angry, irate cat. "Pipika." Sparky poked at the stick with a paw suggestively. The teen studied the piece of wood in her hands for a moment considerately. It was a good piece of still somewhat green wood, roughly an inch and a half thick, not something that would break easily. "Hm. You may be on to something there, rat." Cerb leaned over the edge of the pit and stuck her stick in, gripping the top tightly while the end of it dangled down somewhere above the Glameow's belly. "Okay kitty, if you quit your bellyachin' and sink your claws into this, I'll pull ya out." -- Offering a stick to the kitty so it can climb out. |

0.3 ![]() Eeep. A voice. The Glameow got to her feet, removed her tail from her head and neck, and groomed a bit to get her fur back in place. For someone who'd been screaming for help, she was really taking her sweet time grabbing onto the stick dangling in front of her. Groom groom groom. Flatten down the fur, remove the mud from the paws, wash the whiskers, la dee da. Sometimes you've got to wonder if the species would have survived this long if humans didn't find them such pretty little kitties to keep as pets. Finally, the Glameow strolled over, crouched down, and sprung onto the branch, sinking claws from all four paws into the branch. You didn't expect her to be pulled up by her front paws, did you? That would be most undignified. As soon as she was pulled from the pit, the Glameow would not be shy about expressing her thanks, rubbing up against you and purring like a little motor. At least she was polite enough to show some appreciation. Or she thought being cute would yield food and attention, which were two very important things. Either way, she could probably be convinced to assist you somehow, with the right words. Lvl 45[Purrrrr...] |

.3 ![]() Cerb had something of a :| look on her face as she stared down at this freakin' cat, taking its sweet time to clean off all the mud and fur and look nicely groomed. "Geez Sparky, this broad reminds me of you," "Pika pi," the Pikachu snorted, wrinkling his snout as Dashboard giggled at him. She could believe it from his display back at the tree. Sighing, Cerb continued to watch down into the hole until the cat sunk her claws into the stick and got nicely stuck on there. "Sure took ya long enough," she mumbled, pulling the stick up hand over hand until they were all back on solid ground and the Glameow was detached from her precious stick. The two Pikachu flattened their ears at the sight of this cat rubbing all up on their trainer and being some sort of ham. Unused to such treatment from a feline, Cerb nevertheless patted and stroked the cat anyway. A stray Glameow had once lived around her house, a long time ago. How ironic then, that she was hunting the preevolved form of the thing that eventually mauled it. "Hey there, kitty. You seem to be familiar with this area," she observed, scritching at the base of the cat's ears. "I'm looking for a Snubbull. Y'know, those pink frilly bulldog things? If you could point me in the appropriate direction, that'd be great," -- Has seen Snubbull? |

0.3 ![]() The Glameow's ears flattened at the question. Why would anyone want some dog when they could have a cat like her? Obviously there was no accounting for taste here. The Glameow looked contemplative, though she wasn't really thinking about where to find a Snubbull. She knew where to find a Snubbull. What she was thinking about was whether she'd get away with demanding something in return for her information, like food, and what she would ask for if she could. For a moment, she eyed Sparky in something of a predatory manner. Pikachu were a rare treat in these parts, only ever seen near the outskirts of the wildlands occasionally when one from the jungle got lost. You had two Pikachu; surely you wouldn't mind giving up one? Of course, there was the fact that the other Pikachu looked stronger than her, and her requesting such an exchange may trigger an attack. There also was the fact that you'd saved her, and your tolerance for her demanding ways had not been measured. Asking for payment may very well get her kicked back into the pit she'd been pulled from. Think think think... Finally, the Glameow lazily pointed a paw in a direction not very different from where her trio of canine tormentors had disappeared, gave a deadpan, "Meow," to emphasize the gesture, then stretched and padded off in the opposite direction. All those thoughts of food were making her hungry. Off to find some fat little rodent to eat, preferably one without a scary-looking girlfriend, and hope that something like those three ruffians didn't try to chase her away from her kill. Bleh, dogs. Who needs 'em? Apparently, you did. The direction your reluctant guide pointed to was deeper into the wildlands than you'd probably intended on going, but she seemed to be a reliable enough source. Happy hunting! You get + 1 for saving the kitty, too.

.3 ![]() Why indeed. Cerb had two cats, a Meowth and a Skitty. She rather liked both of them, but Glameow just wasn't on her immediate want list. Sparky and Dashboard both flattened their ears in unison, sparks zapping from their cheeks. Sparky had previously already been a prey attempt from a bird, so he knew the look and he didn't like it. Dashboard, having been wild up until an hour ago, was also used to almost being food. There was a reason she was still alive, after all. She could hold her own against an opponent. Cerb looked in the direction the paw was pointed, memorizing the area for a moment. When she looked back down, the Glameow was padding off again to go find food or whatever it was she wanted. Well, no accounting for the ways of fickle felines, anyway. The teen shrugged, looking at the wary mouse Pokemon on her shoulders. "Time to go find a pooch, then. Tallyho," she said, picking up her stick and heading off in the direction a Snubbull would hopefully be found in. -- Currently: Pitfall Area Snubbull hunting! |

0.2 ![]() And, so, off you went the way the Glameow had pointed. Good thing you had that stick, since there were about four or five pitfalls in your path with no sign of your Snubbull. No sign of anything in any of them; one supposed the wildlife were either very aware of their position at all times or generally travelled with friends. Strangers like you were much more likely to go tumbling down one of these. Punt. Hooooowl! Splat! This really wasn't a good day for keeping fur out of your mouth. This time, your face became quite well-accquainted with a Poochyena, who had the sense to remove himself, land on the ground, and take off running. Hope you managed to dodge the Electrike that came flying at you next, since that one's sparking. "Make one more crack about my frills, just one more! You still think I look wimpy?!" Oh, look, a Snubbull. A really angry Snubbull punting Poochyena and Electrike left and right. Oddly enough, it was a female. You'd normally expect that kind of over-compensating aggressive behaviour from a male. Then again, the pokemon in the wildlands were supposed to be a bit more mean than the ones in the jungle. And, oh look, she's noticed you, and she's growling like she wants to bite your head off. It would be just great to have a translator to help talk her down, wouldn't it? The other dogs took this particular moment to all race off in different directions, leaving you with this furious Snubbull. .3 ![]() It was slow going, what with all the pitfalls in this area. Cerb had to wonder to herself how they all came to be, anyway. Did a whole load of Diglett just pass through here and make them, or did Pokemon randomly dig at the ground for no reason? Maybe some Pokemon used them to trap prey, sure, but...eeeh. This was not the place to be thinking about stuff like that. Time to find a frilly dog. SPLAT! Sparky and Dashboard leapt from her shoulders as Cerb promptly topped over backwards from getting a Poochyena to the face. "...son of a nun," Or at least that's what they think she's saying, anyway. The two Pikachu flattened their ears and ducked as an Electrike came soaring their way, while Cerb managed to spit out a mouthful of black hair and roll to the side to dodge the sparking menace. "What in the world, I didn't know dogs could fl - oh." Snubbull. Over there. Being angry. The teen very slowly raised an eyebrow, and looked over at Sparky and Dasboard, whose ears continued to remain flat. "Hey, guys," "Pi pika pi pikapi," Sparky chittered, twitching his tail a bit violently. Dashboard concurred with extra tail swiping, and Cerb stared at the both of them. "The both of you are not helping at all," she grumbled, turning back to see the angry fairydog over there. "Uuum... Hi there! We come in peace, please don't eat me," When in doubt, beg for your liver. -- Shoelicking. |

0.3 ![]() Growl, snarl, look scary...Hey, you were actually taking it seriously! She didn't need to punt your pair of Pikachu into next week or take a chunk out of your face. Too many people treated her like your usual cowardly Snubbull that didn't like fighting and that actually was a sweet and kind lapdog type. Mostly because enough of her kind were that way until they learned differently; just ask a pokedex. The growling faded slowly, and the Snubbull cocked her head to one side at you in interest. You realized that she was a genuine threat, and that piqued her curiousity, but just to drive the point home... Stomp stomp stomp. Glaaaaare. The Snubbull walked very deliberately up to you and locked her eyes on yours in a hard stare. "Snuuuuuuubull," she rumbled. After a few tense moments, she turned to look at your two Pikachu with a much less intimidating look. "Snubbull Snub?" she asked, jerking her paw toward you. "This yours?" .2 ![]() Doubtless the Pikachu pair would not enjoy attempts to be punted, but that was neither here nor there. Their ears twitched warily as Cerb watched the pink dog a little nervously, waiting to see what would happen next. She'd heard stories of people getting attacked and bitten by dog Pokemon, and she didn't want it gnawing on her leg or face or whatever with those jaws. "Eeeeh," shitshit, coming closer to her. Cerb twitched a bit and drew her legs in towards her body to tuck them under her, mostly so she could run like a loon if it started biting. Though apparently all it wanted to do was stare and glare, which was fine with her. Glaring liquid hate or whatever wasn't biting, and that was all she cared about. I bet she'd think differently if it kicked her. "Pikapi. Unfortunately,' Sparky sighed, flicking an ear up at his trainer as she looked down at her two Pikachu, hoping they weren't badmouthing her as usual. 'I think?' Dashboard shrugged, still uncertain about the whole 'adopt a trainer' thing. 'I'm new.' 'I'm not,' Sparky mumbled, smoothing some static from his fur and taking some time to shake leaves and grass off his body. Dashboard stared curiously at him for a moment before giggling madly. 0.3 ![]() The Snubbull crossed her arms as she listened. Two Pikachu, one recently captured. The fact that you had two of them was an odd enough case, but that the new one wasn't hostile toward you was enough to catch her interest. However, Sparky's bout of grooming and Dashboard's giggling at it distracted her, and she gave a small snort of laughter herself, though with her face's perma-scowl it would probably hard to tell for you, the human audience, that she was anything other than annoyed. "Y'going somewhere special today, or do you always do that?" she asked amusedly. His grooming reminded her a bit of a cat. Bleh, cats, always mucking up their territory. Who needs 'em? Her crossed arms became even tighter crossed at the thought. She glanced up at you, giving one more hard stare, before looking back at the Pikachu. "Hate to ask, but there any reason your trainer ain't running? I thought she was going to wet herself earlier." Edited by Vulpix Windchimes, Aug 20 2009, 09:20 PM.

.2 ![]() Sparky looked up from brushing dust off his tail to frown and grumble. 'We're going back to Felcrest after this,' he chittered, giving his tail a sharp snap through the air and watching dust motes float off of it. 'I don't enjoy being covered with grime, because that means I'll need a bath. And water is not good for my fur,' he added, a small crackle of static running down his back. Dashboard bzzt'd some sparks from her cheeks in sympathy. 'I knoooow right? You feel all stuffy and full of energy, but nothing will conduct!' The female Pikachu shook her head, ears flopping around. 'I hate rain, it's yucky.' 'Some kinds of rain are good,' Sparky chittered, thinking of his Rain Dance technique. It was useful enough in drawing electricity to his foes, at any rate, though it did have the disgusting aftereffects. But obviously this would be of no concern to the Snubbull, who was speaking to them again. 'Um, well. She was out here looking for a Pokemon of your species, so... I think as long as you don't actually try to bite her head off, she's not going to move.' |

0.3 *snicker* I love Dashboard's dialogue. The Snubbull's ear twitched at the bath conversation. "I'll...take your word for it on the electricity stuff, but I get not liking water," she said. Getting wet had never really appealed to her either. The bit about your wanting a Snubbull caught her a bit by surprise, and she gave another snort of laughter. "Well, m'not going to try to bite her head off unless she makes fun of me or takes a swing at me, so might as well make yourselves comfortable." Snarl! A Mightyena burst out of the bushes behind the Snubbull and raced at her. Looks like one of the Poochyena she'd punted had tough friends. The Snubbull whipped around, eyes glowing bright yellow as she locked a stare on the wolf that made it stop in its tracks, seeming to suddenly be rethinking this idea. The rethinking was completed when the Snubbull took in a big breath and let out a bellowing roar that attacked the ears and sent fear washing over all who had misfortune to hear it. The Mightyena took off in the direction it had come, yelping. "Snub." The Snubbull lightly brushed off her front, quite unconcerned. Apparently that happened a lot. If it was too big to kick, scare it senseless. "Never lay a tooth on me, not a single one of 'em," she said proudly. |

.3 ![]() 'I think that's what we're doing,' Sparky commented dryly, looking at his seated trainer. Cerb blinked when she suddenly had her Pikachu staring at her, tilting her head to the side. What, what? It was times like these that she really took her Girafarig for granted. Suddenly, there was a Mightyena from the bushes! Cerb screamed like a little girl and scrambled backwards, narrowly missing falling backwards into another pitfall a short distance behind her. Her fingers registered a lack of ground beneath them and the teen froze, edging forward enough that she wouldn't fall. The Snubbull seemed to have the situation in hand just fine, letting loose a bellow that made Sparky and Dashboard flatten their ears in pain and the Mightyena run yelping off into the brush. "...holee shit," she squeaked, staring at the pink frilldog in a new light. Damn, that thing was scary. "That was amazing! I've never seen anything make a Mighty run like that," 'And here we go,' Sparky whispered to Dashboard, who flicked her ears curiously and watched the scene unfold, not sure how they were going if they were just standing there. |

0.3 ![]() The Snubbull gave the closest thing to a grin her face would allow, though it wound up looking something like a snarl. She seemed to enjoy the praise. Yes, knowing how to use Roar was a wonderful thing. Not that she couldn't have smashed the beastie if it hadn't worked. She could pull off a mean Take Down when push came to shove. Stomp stomp stomp. Staaaaaare. The Snubbull locked eyes with you again, but with a much less hostile look. She seemed challenging, almost as if she were asking you if you thought you were worthy of being her trainer. You wanted a Snubbull, she didn't have any opponents left that she couldn't either scare witless or kick like a football. It seemed like a decent arrangement, but that didn't mean that she was just going to hop in a pokeball. Long pause. Slurp. With a little hop to get high enough, the Snubbull placed a lick on your cheek. No paralyzing saliva involved, either. It seemed the most direct way to tell you that she wasn't going to hurt you. However, moments after doing that, her attention was back on the two Pikachu. "She got any dogs?" she asked, arms crossing in front of her chest again. .3 ![]() Through some miracle of her dense mind, Cerb seemed to sense this Snubbull was becoming less apprehensive about her, which was good. She wasn't looking forward to breaking her nonviolent streak, which she'd had to start anew since capturing Vista on Corona Island. She didn't count her Onix Platinum as having been taken by force: they'd had a deal, after all. The teen blinked at the sudden lick, tilting her head sideways to look considerately down at the little fairy dog. Sparky quirked his ears in consideration, before he reached over and rummaged in her back pocket. "Oy, rat, get your paw outta - oh. Y'coulda just asked for it," she grumbled as the Pikachu yanked out her Pokedex and opened it, flipping through the pages to find the data he wanted. His dumb trainer caught a lot of Pokemon and he needed a refresher course. 'What's thaaaat?' Dashboard chittered curiously, leaning over to stare at this mysterious red device with a bunch of pictures of things on it. 'A Pokedex,' Sparky grunted, finding the information he wanted and then passing it over to the female Pikachu, who curiously gnawed on a corner of it to see if it was edible. Nope, just not tasty plastic and metal. 'It records information on Pokemon species.' 'Oooooo.' Dashboard chittered and prodded the buttons on it while Sparky went back to addressing the Snubbull. 'We have four or five, depending on your opinion of Eevees,' he said, ticking off the count on his paws. 'Growlithe, Poochyena, Vulpix, and Houndour.' |

0.3 ![]() The Snubbull listened to the list, thoughtful. Poochyena she knew plenty about, and her face scrunched up a bit more than it already was at hearing that. Every Poochyena she'd ever met had needed a good punt before they took her seriously. Growlithe she knew about, since there were some of those in Felcrest and Lorenzo, and she thought she remembered seeing things called Vulpix and Houndour before from trainers who'd come from over the ocean. Eevee...that one drew a blank, so she simply took Sparky's word for it that they were dog-like. The device did interest her, but Dashboard seemed to be enjoying herself pushing buttons. Anyway, if she came along for the ride, she would have plently of time to steal the device and investigate it, likely partly with her jaws. Hey, she was a dog. Dogs chewed. "You sure know your way around human things," she commented, remembering how he'd said that he wasn't new. But his past was none of her business, and there were more important things to talk about, like other dogs. "You met any of those five? What're they like?" Had to get the scoop on potential pack-mates before making a concrete decision, after all. For the first time since you'd shown up, the Snubbull sat down, adjusting her frills slightly once she was sitting. She would probably be listening and asking questions for a while. May as well be comfy. |

.3 ![]() Sparky pricked his ears up with slight pride. 'I know how to use the Poketech and the Pokedex,' he chittered primly, glancing over at Dashboard still fussing with the red device. 'My trainer relies on me for navigation whenever her hands are full.' 'This has lots of pictures on it,' Dashboard commented, trying to read the text below some of the pictures. 'What is it, gibberish?' '...you're holding it upside down.' '...oh.' The Pikachu rotated it around in her paws and went back to trying to decipher the mysterious text. Sparky sighed and shook his head at her, before going back to the previous subject. 'I know them all. I helped 'capture' all of them.' Sparky wrinkled his nose a bit, remembering the five and their personalities. 'Bit is our Eevee, and he hatched from an egg. He's still a baby, so he's cute and squeaky and does baby things. Then Lady is the Poochyena, and she's kinda...irritable,' he grumbled, giving a sharp flick of his tail. Hopefully her time spent in the PC had helped to mellow her out a bit, though he doubted it. 'King and Elvan are the Growlithe and Houndour, and they're both...typical dogs, I guess. They like to run around and slobber, and Elvan jumps.' For some reason she couldn't quite fathom, Cerb rubbed at her chest absently. Phantom pain from being dogpiled, no doubt. 'And Pixie is the Vulpix. She's kinda quiet, serious, a little...paranoid? That's all of 'em,' Sparky finished counting on his paws and flicked an ear, shrugging. Dashboard was half listening, still prodding buttons on the Pokedex and making it beep. |

0.3 ![]() Okay, so, if she went, she'd be dealing with a cute little puppy, an irritable female of punting size, two males who seemed happy-go-lucky enough to not rub her the wrong way, and a serious female that had been described as 'paranoid.' Her would make the group three females and three males. "Typical dogs run around and slobber, huh?" she commented with a raised eyebrow and a small snort of laughter. "Guilty as charged, s'pose." She thought a little more about the two boys. Having two guys to run around with and be dogs sounded pretty good, as long as they didn't make any cracks about her frills. She wandered over to where Dashboard was looking at the pictures on the pokedex, watching them flash past. A little steel thing, two things that sort of looked like Pikachu but had red and blue bits, a turtle thing with smoke, an orange thing with big jaws, the world's largest dragonfly, a bird thing...The Snubbull snorted. "You really been all over, huh?" She had thought there would be more things to ask, but nothing else really came to mind. The description of the other dogs had been short and to the point, and the whole situation seemed good. But, frankly, if she'd been inclined to run off with the first nice trainer with a pack of dogs, she probably would have by now. She was strong, and had clawed her way to where she was without any trainer's help. She needed proof that she would go even higher if she joined you. "A'right, you're headed right back to town, and town's got...things that heal us up, right? F'your trainer wants me, she's gotta get me the old fashioned way. Don't care who fights me, s'long as it's fair." She moved away, placing a decent amount of fighting distance between herself and you, and took on a stable fighting stance. Lvl 48 144/144[Wants to see what you're made of] There will be no anger upon capture as long as whoever fights Snubbull doesn't get outside help. |

.3 ![]() 'Most places over the eastern half of the world, yes.' Or at least a good chunk of the Upper Shelf and most of Corona Island. Felcrest might be lower shelf territory, but they hadn't started adventuring yet - Sparky knew his trainer wanted to angle her way towards Deepwood, and turn her carefully packed Claw Fossil into a revived ancient beast. He also suspected it would be cold on the western half of the world. Sparky's ears shot up at the challenge, his tail giving a slightly nervous flick. This was similar to the capture of Platinum on the Torrid Range. Rage had won that one, despite being a weaker Pokemon, but the Gyarados was solidly built and had a type advantage to boot. The two of them were just Pikachu - not particularly strong or chunky in strength. Sparky gradually became aware of Dashboard staring at him over his shoulder. 'Go back, Dash.' 'Aw, I can't fight? I wanna help!' 'Go on,' Sparky twitched his tail at her a few times, and Dashboard reluctantly scuttled away with the Pokedex to sit on Cerb's lap and watch. The teen blinked a few times, comprehension slowly dawning as the two Pokemon took their stances. "Oh, we're fighting now." Dur. "...bugger. There kindagoes my nonviolent streak." And here goes me wishing I'd slapped that TM on Sparky already, but oh well. Time to ruuuumbleeee. The Pikachu chittered to himself, letting a small static crackle run along his back before he thrust it outwards in a low grade wave, meant to paralyze. On the heels of that, his outline shimmered and wavered into a series of five Pikachu that stood crouched and ready to run, depending on what happened. -- Lvl 4590/90 HP [Thunder Wave + Double Team] vs Lvl 48144/144 HP [Doing something!] |

0.3 ![]() The Snubbull smiled, glancing slightly up at you before looking back at Sparky. Non-violent streak? You became a more interesting trainer with every moment. But how interesting you were would be a subject for another time, either sharing it with the other dogs or exploring further while on your journey, depending out the outcome of this match. She scowled at Sparky and bared her teeth, growling, and the Pikachu found himself a bit intimidated. Those fangs of hers looked awfully sharp... But he wasn't required to get close to those jaws for his first attack, and the electricity hit home. The Snubbull let out a yelp as her muscles spasmed and locked up, preventing her from moving as Sparky's form split into five. The Snubbull snarled. Four duplicates, one real Pikachu. As soon as her muscles let her, she charged forward as she'd first intended, head down like a battering ram. The Sparkys ran, but she managed to ram into one of them. Unfortunately, she struck a duplicate, and it vanished as the remaining four Sparkys got out of her range again and her muscles locked up painfully. Speedy electric types and their tricks. Still, she had to admit, even with her muscles refusing to co-operate, this was kind of fun. Sparky was putting up a better fight than she'd anticipated. .3 ![]() Now with himself braced along with the rest of his shadowy doubles, Sparky laid his ears back and chittered quietly to himself. With the paralysis in place, this would become a war of attrition for him. Whittling down the opponent's defenses, minimizing damage to himself, waiting for an opportunity to land a finishing blow... Though at the moment, the Pikachu decided now might be a nice time to test out that new trick Steely taught him a while ago. Crouching low to the ground along with his buddies, Sparky suddenly zipped forward as electric power gathered into his front paws, darting right up to the Snubbull to deliver a one-two punch before running away again with his duplicates, this time to circle the pink dog. Confusion, as always, was a key. And he could always knock her into a hole somehow, but that lessened the sport of it somewhat. Cerb sat back and watched Sparky fight, chewing on the inside of her cheek and absently petting Dashboard. She knew her Pikachu was a tough little bugger who could handle himself, but she still worried about him anyway. He was too cute to get mauled by a bulldog. -- Lvl 4590/90 HP [-1 Attack, 3 duplicates] [Quick Attack + Thunderpunch] vs Lvl 48144/144 HP [Paralyzed] |

0.3 ![]() The Snubbull was not prepared for the attack that came next, crying out as the four Pikachu closed in and struck with electrified fists, even if only one of them actually hit her. Sparks of electricity snapped around her as she watched her circling opponent and his three shadows, panting. "You're pretty good..." she said quietly. That attack had hit hard, and it had done nothing to help her paralysis. A red glow came to the Snubbull's eyes as she tried to track the Pikachu she thought was physical. "But I'm better." Eyes blazing and dark energies ripling around her, the Snubbull tore into one of the Pikachu circling her. The Payback attack ripped mercilessly through the duplicate it had struck, giving a small indication of the damage it would have done had it hit its intended target. The smart thing to do was get out of range again, but the Snubbull lunged, her jaws latching onto the tail of one of the fleeing Pikachu. This time, she got the right one, and the other two Pikachu vanished. Small sparks from Sparky's tail zapped at her jaws, but his Static ability wasn't much use against a target already paralyzed. Luckily, it was just a Bite, not a full-fledged Crunch, and she'd sunk her teeth into his tail rather than something more vital. She also wasn't letting go, though that wasn't entirely her own doing; her muscles had chosen that exact moment to lock up again. .3 ![]() "PIKAAAAA!" Sparky squealed when the Snubbull latched onto his tail with her jaws, fighting his instinct to thrash and break free. Instead, the pink Pokemon might have inadvertently sealed her own fate by touching him. Direct contact was the best thing for conducting electricity. Also, her wet slobbery mouth was firmly clamped around his sizzling tail. Let's all do the math. Trying to ignore the pain, Sparky instead focused on sending as much energy as he could to the hind end of his body to shock the living heck out of the Snubbull. His little yellow body turned into a blazing firecracker, one that made Cerb wince and shield her eyes as he exploded into a torrent of sizzling electricity. "Hoo geez, never seen him do that before," "Pipika." Dashboard flicked her ears worriedly, all the energy in the air making her fur ripple and crackle. -- Lvl 4553/90 HP [-1 Attack] [Thunderbolt + Thunder] vs Lvl 4888/144 HP [Paralyzed, chomp tail] |

0.3 ![]() Even if the Snubbull knew that she was going to get a serious shocking, there was nothing she could do about it. She couldn't let go even if she wanted to. So, she did what she felt was the most natural thing as the Thunderbolt half of Sparky's electric bombardment started to send pain through her body. She set her jaws on fire. The wounds made by her teeth were suddenly enveloped in burning pain as the flames licked at his flesh and burnt his fur. Luckily for Sparky, the attack was unfinished, a shadow of its usual power, because, the moment her jaw muscles responded to her again, the Snubbull broke away and began to flail backward, away from all the electricity. The Thunder half of his attack wound up being unneeded, because the Snubbull landed in a heap and rolled over onto her back, waving her arms frantically in a 'no more' fashion. "I give, okay! I give! Enough with the shocking already!" The Snubbull may have been a vicious physcial fighter, but that electricity was too much; she had no problem joining someone who had trained a powerhouse like him, and she really had a new respect for the electric rodent and his species in general. .3 ![]() Sparky broke off his attack once jaws loosened from around his tail, and instead set to flailing around in the dirt to put his flaming fur out. Cerb abruptly stood up, glanced behind her to make sure she wasn't about to fall in a hole, then pulled out Sparky's Pokeball and recalled the thrashing rodent into the safe confines of the ball. "That was quite a doozy, wasn't it." She carefully tucked the ball onto her belt, while Dashboard chittered and scrambled up to sit more securely on the teen's shoulder. "Gotta say he always was a stubborn little bastard, though. And now he's won the day again," Pulling another ball out of her pack, she stepped over and looked down at the flailing Snubbull. "I imagine that all hurt like a bitch, but this'll keep ya comfy until I can run to Felcrest." A Luxury ball dropped from her hand to 'plonk!' onto the Snubbull's belly and suck up the dog to put her out of her flailing misery for the time being. Now with just Dashboard out to keep her safe from roving jungle monsters, Cerb retrieved her stick from the ground and headed off towards Felcrest quickly, so she could get everyone healed up and a proper team back again. -- Luxury ball on Snubbull~ Currently: Pitfall Area --> Felcrest |

0.3 ![]() That had all been a rough fight, but you'd gotten your Snubbull, and Sparky had probably learned a valuable lesson that, occasionally, fangs can do more than just puncture flesh. They can set things on fire, too. Or, at least, some opponents' fangs can. Still a good thing for the guy to log away next time something tries to have his tail for lunch. And this fight hadn't really broken that non-violent streak any more than Platinum's had. In fact, one could say that it counted even less than Platinum's because the Snubbull herself asked for the fight. Anyway! About those roving jungle monsters you mentioned...You remember that Mightyena that your new Snubbull scared off? His four big brothers burst through the bushes not long after you'd grabbed up you stick, snarling in anger. Then they stared at the place where they had expected the Snubbull to be, noting the flattened grass and signs of fire and electricity. Then, simultaneously, they all looked up and found a new thing to have fun with instead. Run, trainer, run! Lvl 45 x 4[Snarl!] |

.2 ![]() So after walking for a few paces, Cerb paused when she suddenly had a bad feeling, not unlike a juicy steak about to be devoured. Looking back, she stared a bit disbelievingly at the four Mightyena there. "Oh fuck," Snaaaarl. "..ooooh fuck." With only one Pokemon to defend her, Cerb did the logical thing - run away! Screaming and flailing her way in the general direction of Felcrest, where there was safety and other people and city limits or something, I dunno. Witnesses. "Dashboard, try'n slow 'em down!" She panted to the Pikachu, who nodded and turned about on her shoulder perch. Facing the dogs, she let loose a wide wave of thunder in attempts to lock them up and slow their progress. Facing all four dogs at once would be suicide, so they definitely weren't sticking around after that. Cerb tried her best to watch for holes while she was running, because if she fell in a pitfall now, that would suck so hard. -- Lvl 4692/92 HP [Thunder Wave~] kindavs Lvl 45 x4[Snarl!] Currently: Pitfall Area --> Felcrest |

0.3 *snicker*Dashboard's attack flew toward the four pursuing Mightyena, striking two of the snarling beasts in front. With a yelp, one of the paralyzed Mightyena tumbled into a pitfall, essentially taking him out of the equation, while the other struggled to keep up with his fellows. One got close and tried to leap up and take a snap at Dashboard, but wound up miscalculating and landing at the bottom of another pitfall. You, miraculously enough, did not come across any, or maybe you did and simply made use of the 'if I don't aknowledge that there's no ground under me, I won't fall' bit of cartoon physics as you ran in your fear-induced frenzy. However you managed it, you raced into Felcrest without plummeting into a single pit, and left two Mightyena, one paralyzed, snarling at you from the city limits before they vanished back into the wildlands to retrieve the two others and find something slower and less zappy to maul where there were fewer witnesses. Welcome back to Felcrest City, mighty Snubbull hunter. |
