Better.

I think the experiment helped made it more convenient for mods to find unmodded threads BUT it doesn't increase the motivation they need to actually do more modding. | ||||||||||||

Go for it, run towards it, dive in head first. Live life with no regrets!

What Air said. It was nice to have somewhere that had all the active threads in it, so if I wanted to go mod someone, I could go to one place and pick someone, but I didn't feel motivated to mod anyone at all. |

Maybe with all the threads it looked a bit intimidating. Having everything all together in one convenient place really does streamline the process and makes sure everyone is counted for, but I do find it a bit wearisome having to go jump from one thread to another, and then having to remember to edit the M's out of people's threads when I'm done. I think it'd go a lot more faster and orderly to put it up in one topic, like how the Forgotten Threads Directory had been, minus the two-day wait. Its first-come first served; the first posts get modded, and goes down- no need for bumping and whatnot. We could say you can only post in it once a day to keep it from looking overwhelmingly excessive with people asking for mods over and over again. If you need more mods, you either have to go to the chatroom to ask, wait until the rest of the posts are modded and deleted, or wait the next day. Anyway, it was a pretty good idea. Just that it seemed to have drained the motivation factor for some reason. Maybe because as soon as you finish modding away the M, it comes back up. Like a nasty spot you can't get rid of. |

It's not worth it.

Having it all in one topic is great and less cluttered, but like I suggested in the other thread, posting every single time a player wants a mod is going to quickly rack up the count and create another big mess... which is completely unnecessary. Each can just post once, and if it has been awhile since their last mod, they can edit it again with a date next to the new message with something to the effect of "Been a few days since my last mod." (With bold and the like added if they so wish.) At least that way, people aren't bombarding the topic with constant posts, breaking the one-day limit... which will probably happen. Eh, dunno. I wanted to do it that way Fanta because, if people only posted once and just edited it whenever they needed to get modded, then it would be harder for mods to find who haven't been modded in a while. Just think: they'd have to run through the entire thread of twenty-something members just to find if they need a mod. Oftentimes, they do find an update, go to that person's thread, only to find they're modded already. And then there's the fact that the first people to post in that thread will -usually- be the first to get modded. By the time they get to the people in the latest part of the thread, the mod is already drained from modding the first few posts. They probably won't even get modded period because those people in the front in the meantime will be asking for mods -again-, and who will the next mod go to see first? Same thing with the people in the back; if a mod chooses to start there, he probably won't reach far enough to mod the people in the middle of the thread. And if you have to wait -awhile- before asking again, its pretty much the same thing as the Forgotten Threads Directory, except instead of just seeing a post, clicking it, mod, delete, you have to waste time skimming through the thread and choosing who to mod. When you have to be left with options on which is faster and easier to mod as opposed to people who have been waiting for days, it often makes the mod not want to in the end. In the way I explained, it won't seem as imposing since you're deleting the posts in the process. If a person is trying to get multiple mods by posting more than once a day, the mod can easily see the date of the last mod and just delete the post, leaving them unmodded. Or make a discouraging mod as punishment, depending on the situation. Only when the thread is empty can the person be allowed to post again. And no one would need to flip through pages of member posts- it'll all be right there the moment you click on the topic, the very first post will be the priority post, and when you delete that, the next one comes next, and so on. |
