"How many assholes we got on this ship anyhow?"

I. Welcome to the first ever OME Team Wide Event! Spoiler: click to toggle A. First things first. This is not your typical Event. This Event will utilize the proposed guidelines I posted awhile back in the forum. You remember the one if youre a mod, its the one where anyone can create their own Event. It got mixed reviews and thats ok. So you are all guinea pigs in my little experiment, congratulations! This event will be my opportunity to see if that idea is worth further consideration. 1. This Event is designed like a maze. Some points will be a straight shot where you will be guided as a group, like it or not, straight forward for the sake of the plot. Some parts will give you multiple choices that will determine how much of the back story you can uncover; a test of your cooperative and investigative skills. In other parts, your choices will determine the actual outcome of the mission and which direction the story will take. You will be given opportunities to remain as a group or to split up. These points in the story will be specifically stated at the end of each mod. Be prepared to be confronted as an individual. This Event will not treat the group as a single entity at all times. 2. As proposed in my Any One Can Write an Event idea, the person who created the event is competing for the possibility of an award, just like it was a very complicated cooperative free form. That person will not participate in the event but act as the mod. The OME only Event is a perfect test given those circumstances. As such, I will ask for something! All I want is a Reaper Cloth, and then only if you guys decide you enjoyed participating in this Event. Of course you guys get something as well. Naturally, and pokdex additions are a given, however, there is more! As with any OME mission, you will receive a payment for succeeding. This Event has two endings; the good one and the bad one. Naturally, the good ending pays more. As a personal thank you for undergoing treatment as lab rats, I have scattered items throughout the maze for you to find like cheese! Some of these are hold items, and some of them are nice little RP items that I asked you about in chat; fun bonus items that make your profile more colorful and your characters life more interesting.3. Finally, as part of this sort of Event, I ask that you grade your experience at its conclusion. Just answer the following questions on a scale of 1 -5, 1 being defiantly and 5 being no way.

"How many assholes we got on this ship anyhow?"

II. Chapter 1: The President's Agenda Spoiler: click to toggle A. Floyd stood behind a podium at the front of the subterranean facilitys conference room. The horned alien looked slightly uncomfortable in his military garb and addressing the large group. Without a doubt, any man/woman who didn't know his face before, would know him now. Once everyone was accounted for and seated, the Scavian nervously straightened his jacket and cleared his throat. The grating sound crackled over the speakers and he jumped slightly. Thank you for attending this emergency mission briefing on such short notice. He growled over the microphone, leaning a little too closely to the tiny receiver and causing it to sputter and squeal. He snorted, disconcerted by the ear splitting noise. We have received a mandatory request from the new President of Oppaddeka. It is his/her wish to utilize the regions natural resources to their fullest potential. It has come to his/her attention that there is a large coal deposit in the Carmine Mountains that could be tapped as an energy source. However, there is reason to believe that this location was once a mining town in the past, and for some reason, unknown to us, that mining operation was suspended and the town evacuated. You wont find this town on any map, in fact, it doesnt officially exist, but the older residents of Ashdell can recant tales of their successful towns disturbing beginnings; so disturbing in fact, that few will be willing to dredge up those childhood tales told to them by their grandparents. The original site of Ashdell lies within the valley south of the Burnt Mountains in the West and was first dubbed Black Pass for the veins of coal that ran through the mountains and beneath the town. Black Pass was intended to be a small mining town every bit as successful as Ashdell is today. The rich mineral deposits remain virtually untouched and the dilapidated buildings of the town are said to still lie uninhabited and in ruin. The President of Oppaddeka wants to know why this valuable resource has been abandoned and forgotten for so long. Your assignment is to visit Ashdells Sunny Side Retirement Home and interview the residents there for information on the forgotten town of Black Pass. Use the information you procure to better equip yourself for an exploratory visit to the original site. Evaluate the state of the old roads, and of the town to gather what information you can and assess the possibility of re-establishing the settlement. Then you are to investigate the state of the old mining tunnels themselves. Determine the extent of damage, safety risks and, if at all possible, find out why the operation was abandoned. Your ultimate goal is to secure the site per the President's wishes. With the bulk of his speech complete, the alien stood a little taller, and surveyed the reactions of his soldiers. He hadnt imparted all of the information he had on the subject; it was just speculation after all and couldnt possibly be true. No use in alarming his troops just yet. <Post once for your sign up post. Ill offer time for mingling in a few.> B. Once the group had quieted down Floyd stepped aside from the podium and walked down the few steps that led down from the stage. He held his hands behind his back and walked casually up the aisle that divided the rows of watching soldiers. Occasionally his eyeless glance would hesitate on a persons face as if he was studying them, and then he would move on. When he reached the back of the auditorium he walked back to the front in the same fashion and then turned around to face the group, his gruesome head held high. The jittery nerves hed shown earlier were gone, this wasnt Floyd the trainer standing before the group, or even Floyd the understudy of the famous Jolt. This was the adopted son of Morgon, General of the Scavian Empirical Army aimed on doing his pseudo grandfather justice. This mission has the potential to be extremely hazardous. It is also crucial that we succeed in obtaining a thorough report of the area. He took a deep breath. I need a lead from each of our esteemed divisions as well as a lead for the overall team. I will not be accompanying you. The president has made it clear that given my recent promotion it is my responsibility to remain by his/her side in the event of an emergency. He paused and sneered. It was obvious that he found this bit of information as distasteful as he had the first time hed heard it. Lt. General Kaizanu Tyzin! As my Second in Command, you will be leading this expedition to the location once known as Black Pass. It will be your responsibility to see that your team works together. Listen to them and pay attention. Their lives are in your hands. Major Kat-" He stopped himself and smiled. "Steely Cerberus. You will be representing the Reconnaissance Division on this mission. All matters concerning the initial investigation are yours to orchestrate. Corporal Alex Chadwick. You are my man for Research and Development and will be conducting any research of suspicious anomaly and wildlife in the area as well as investigating the safety of the buildings still standing and the structural stability of the mining tunnels themselves. Sergeant Aris Roscher. As your first official assignment for the OME, you will be leading our infantry troops into the area. If the team engages an enemy, under Lt. General Tyzins discretion you are free to orchestrate the team in battle. Keep your cool, and strategize. Study your opponent and determine the best course of action. Yours is perhaps the most tenuous position of all. Theres no telling what youll encounter out there. Now you know your leads and who to answer to. Listen to them, the success of this mission depends on your ability to work together. The Lt. General will need to rely on the advice of her commanding officers and those officers will rely on the trust of their team mates. The chopper will be waiting on the heliport at 08:00 to deliver you to Ashdell. Choose your equipment carefully and get a good nights rest. After your initial investigation with the towns senior members you will have one last opportunity to re-evaluate your pokemon team mates and equipment. You've all been sent a map to your pokenav's marking your distinations. Good luck. Youre dismissed. Floyd gave them all a stern, worried look and nodded sharply before walking the center aisle to the exit. The room remained quiet enough that all could hear the double doors click shut behind him, and then discussion erupted from all directions. <Now youre free to discuss to your hearts content. Go ahead and start organizing your plan before you hop on the chopper if you like, or you can wait till it lands in Ashdell. Ill close this thread once everyone posts in Ashdell. Because it actually matters, I will be assuming you are all wearing your standard OME garb, Camo, or some other painfully obvious article of clothing that tells civilians youre OME. If you are wearing something civilian, let me know in your Ashdell post. Also, no NPC tag-a-longs for this thread. Most importantly, In the event I vanish, Kaiz will be modding the thread. That's what she agreed to by taking the Lt. General Position. She will also make the final call of whether or not you split up when the opportunity is given so give her valid advice and such. Who goes with who, is up the branch leaders. And that's it! Thanks!> ![]() Edited by Maverick, Sep 12 2009, 07:33 PM.

III. Chapter 2: The Legend of Black Pass Spoiler: click to toggle A. The chopper landed three miles outside of town to detract attention from the locals that the military was present. Raising suspicions as to why the OME was in Ashdell was something you wanted to avoid. Obviously, your first priority would be to locate and infiltrate the old folks home without causing undue stress among its residents. Sunny Side Retirement Home could be found on the southern end of town as indicated on the map Floyd provided you during the briefing. From the brochures you could easily find on the internet, you could see it was Mountain View property and the building was white with four large columns and a second floor balcony overlooking the ash pits. It was reminiscent of a southern style plantation home and boasted of old world class and well trimmed lawns. Ashdell itself was a built up community and highly industrialized. But you could see that from the description in its forum. You were left with a decision to make. Would you follow Floyds suggestion and travel through town to the home, or would you rebuff his attempt at leadership and go straight for the old road leading to the forgotten little mining town of Black Pass?

III. Chapter 2: The Legend of Black Pass Spoiler: click to toggle B. Youd arrived at the Retirement Home and hopefully by now youd decided who amongst you was going to enter the building. Upon entering the facility you found yourself in a small lobby with wood floors, where a young woman in her early twenties/late teens was sitting behind a counter reading a book. She was wearing a white nurses uniform and had shoulder length straight brown hair tied loosely at the nape of her neck. Her eyes were brown to match her hair, she was slight of build, somewhat short, and was round faced with modest makeup. There was a notebook on the polished wood counter top a register for visitors. The lobby was small but well lit with white washed walls decorated in rich wood baseboards and elegant paintings of landscapes. Upon hearing you enter through the glass accented wood door, the woman placed her book to the side and smiled with the goofy grace of a young woman trying to impress on her very first job. She was just young enough and inexperienced enough to be either easily charmed or easily frightened. Those outside must have felt they'd be in for a very long wait. The street that the home was located on was quiet and there were few cars or passerby to be had. There was a small park across the road though with several tall pine trees for shade and picnic tables resting underneath. A meandering gravel path wove through the sun dappled green lawn and led to a lovely pond that was man made with a little fountain spouting sparkling water at it's center. Glittering Goldeen and Seakings swam in its surprisingly deep waters and begged for balls of bread from school aged children peering into its depths. Your wait could be comfortable one, at least. <Those of you entering the building, please hop into the Thread labeled Sunny Side Retirement Home now, if you are waiting outside, stay in this thread!> 1. Waiting Outside: For the players waiting outside the Home. This occurrence may or may not take place at the same pace as those happening inside the building. This must be tailored to suit the players actions and cannot be pre-typed, but below are some of what can happen. These posts will be tailored to suit the players choice of actions if they enter the park. If they investigate the pond, they 'could' find a Mystic Water, if they investigate the flower beds, they 'could' find a Miracle Seed. If they find neither of those then a security guard will stroll by and start a casual conversation about the weather (Barney Fife sort Oh, you're just full of fun today, aren't you? Why don't we go up to the old people's home and wax the steps?); if received openly, this helpful fellow will give XXX a Yellow Flute. Only one of these items can be found, the first two only if the players indicate they are LOOKING in the specified areas. The third will only be given if they are courteous to the guard and welcome a few moments of chit chat about the weather. <Once the other group exits the building and rejoins this thread, the players are free to interact and exchange information. No further mods in this thread are required other than to indicate to players to move to the Carmine Mountain thread when they are ready to continue.> Edited by Maverick, Jul 24 2009, 06:45 PM.

III. Chapter 2: The Legend of Black Pass Spoiler: click to toggle 2. Inside the Retirement Home:
i. The Day Room: In a town as busy and well populated as Ashdell, you would have expected to find the homes day room bustling with elderly towns folk. Such was not the case, at least not today. You only had three individuals from which to choose from. Which would it be? Know full well that if any one person reacted badly to your prying that you would be promptly booted out the door. You picked:
<Rejoin the others in the OUTSIDE thread and RP exchanging information and preparing to move on to Burnt Mountain Road. No more mods will occur in this thread (or that thread). Post in the Carmine mountain thread when you're ready. You have one last chance to resort you equipment and use the pokecenter if you want.> Edited by Maverick, Jul 24 2009, 07:08 PM.

IV. Chapter 3: Burnt Mountain Road Spoiler: click to toggle A. You were as prepared as you could possibly hope to be. You were armed with what little information the Scavian General had imparted to you, as well as what history you had fished out of the old folks home. The chopper was still in Ashdell, but it was unlikely that your radios (the ones on your navs) would reach beyond the mountains once you entered the pass. Heavy cement divides barricaded the old asphalt road to Black Pass. Given that one could guess from the information you had gathered already that the town of Black Pass was at least three generations old, one might also be left to wonder just how advanced present day Opaddeka was if this forgotten place had paved roads available to it during its time. But, that is neither here nor there. Suffice it to say that Black Pass, while outdated to the world of pokemon was only slightly behind the times of Opaddekas narrators. In fact, if you looked hard enough, you could still see the yellow double line painted down the center of the cracked road. If you had an aerial view, you might have seen the remnants of a triangular symbol circumscribing a circle, depicted in a muddy red (A simplified reversed Seal of Metatron). The faint, barely distinguishable marking took up the entire breadth of the ruined road. Burnt Mountain Road followed the winding path of the valley formed by the towering ridges to either side of it. The rocky inclines looked over the shadowed highway like dark sentinels. Their looming presence was ominous, as if the rubble and debris that clung precariously to their sides would give away at any moment and careen down the slopes to bury those waiting below. It was obvious that the roads final destination would take you deep within the craggy crevasses of the earths spine like ridge. Another painfully obvious fact that you could not help but take note of as you trekked across the open plains, was the lack of human inhabitance in the area. The closer you came to the mountains, the fewer and fewer houses and then farms there seemed to be. You were in total isolation from the world. It was with good reason then, that you were startled from your awe or fear inspired observation of the area, by the frantic cries of a human voice carrying over the wind. Being in the foot hills still it would take a moment before the source made its self known. A young man; twentyish, short curly red hair and wearing overalls and a holy t-shirt, popped over the hill side with a shaggy Arcanine and two Mareep in tow. Apparently, he was a herdsman and from his cries, hed lost one of his flock. As he neared and caught sight of your group, he hurried towards you, a hopeful look upon his face right up until he saw the bright orange signs clanging in the wind against the cement barrier behind you. Caution and Danger did nothing to describe the comprehension that dawned in the mans terrified eyes. You havent seen a Mareep around here, have you? He asked tentatively. He already knew the answer though, from the expressions on your faces, and now his attention was on the barricade. If shes gone that way Ive lost her for sure. He hung his head in defeat. Dad wont like this He trailed off and returned his attention momentarily to you. You arent planning to go that way are you? He asked with a tone of shock. He was studying your military out fit now. I wouldnt, if I were you. The mountains that way are haunted. He looked to his Arcanine now. Well, come on Comet, we best get back before Dad misses us and comes looking. Mareeps on her own. And then to you. Good luck... The young man herded his big dog and remaining sheep back towards town in the direction of the last farmhouse youd seen. Hed not wanted to cross the barrier, not even for his Mareep, and had hurried away eagerly without allowing you to question him. As the bleating racket of his charges faded into the distance, you found yourselves left with a choice. It will be quite a hike from this point to the outskirts of the old town and you were free to walk or to make use of the handily portable OME jeeps. Either method would see you into town, but naturally one was a little faster. <Things to remember:>

V. Chapter 4: Black Pass Spoiler: click to toggle A. Upon Entering Town: As you walked toward town the wall of white, its damp tendrils caressing your faces, the fog did not become any easier to navigate. However, there was a shift in the shadows hidden just out of sight by the misty curtain. Looming boxy shapes that could be nothing else other than the abandoned buildings of the town surrounded you on all sides. The ghost town was quiet and your breath shattered the silence in your personal space like a dog panting. A dog panting - or was it padding softly over the old asphalt streets towards you? Standing still to take in your surroundings you strained to listen. *pat-pat-pat* Followed by the sounds of something breathing. Yes, there was most defiantly something in the mist. The fog churned and swirled ahead of you and a shape formed that was about four feet high. As it approached you could identify the basic shapes of a canine, one with long curving horns and ember eyes. This dog would have been a Houndoom in some other life, but in this one its flesh was hanging off its gaunt, skeletal frame in slippery folds. An internal furnace flared within the cage of its partially bared ribs and tendrils of soft grey smoke curled away from its blackened drawn feet. It stopped just ahead of your group and shook its ruined head. One horn was shattered by the look of its broken base and the other glowed red hot. A wet rasping snarl cracked from its ropy throat and its frame shuddered violently. It drew in a heaving breath and bellowed a long liquid flame into your midst, splitting your group in two. The asphalt melted beneath the splashing molten fluid that the beast spewed. This wasnt a flamethrower attack so much as it was a napalm attack! Behind it, five more undead hell hounds emerged from the white. Each shuddered and sputtered that liquid white hot fire as they growled lowly after the first. <Group is surrounded! Fight or die.> 1. The fight. This post will have to be custom tailored to the pokemon present. But this is what happens. Upon targeting the dogs, the groups pokemon get a quick taste of just how sturdy the undead really are. Even with three pokemon to one fire monster they still seemed grossly out matched. A number of the trained companions were taken out with a flash of white hot teeth and splattered burning liquid, all boasting impossible strength. One beast will go down, and then thinking it is safe to move onto the next, they will turn their backs on it. Only to discover it still has one more bite in it! The fallen will stagger back to its feet and try for one more viscous strike. If any among the group is brave enough to use a gun or other physical weapon against these beasts, they would be pleasantly surprised to find that a bullet, axe, etc is just as effective as some of their pokemons attacks. How unlike the rest of the pokemon world!

VI. Chapter 5: Black Pass Police Station Spoiler: click to toggle A. Inside the Police Station <takes place in new thread> Finding temporary safety withing the walls of the old police station, you peep out of the cracked windows to see the horrific monsters staggering blindly in the streets. Apparently theyre mean but not bright enough to realize youre only protected by a thin panel of wood. Nothing pursues you....yet Now youre faced with another frightening dilemma. Night is falling over Black Pass very quickly, and try the light switches all you like, but without power you can expect every building in town to be dark as a cave. Solve your lighting problem so you can explore the police station. Chances are, there are clues to be had here about the towns last days. With your alternate light source ablaze, you are free to look around and tend to your injured pokemon. Youre in the buildings reception area where an old mahogany desk sits under a layer of dust. Beyond are four basic wooden desks still covered in the yellowing reports that their occupants were working before they vacated. At the rear of the room is a locked door. To the right of the room is hallway. Down the hallway there are two doors along each wall and one at the end of the hall. From here, all posts are tailored to suit the individual actions of the people in the group:
B. After the inital search. You have discovered a map, a key ring, and a <RP item>. Using the keys, you find that the two locked doors in the hallways are jammed but the one at the rear of the main room unlocks with ease. You find three musty jell cells and one door to you right. Its locked, and as soon as you enter a monster, the sole occupent of this area, staggers out of the right most cell and blocks your path. Blow the acid monster away and use the keys to unlock the door and enter the garage. i. Battle the Acid Monster <proceed to C.> C. You've unlocked the door and entered the empty garage of the police station. There is a kennel in the back of the room holding two caged undead Growlithe. The animals tear at the chain link and throw their tattered hides against the door. Their milky eyes roll in their sockets and flesh tears from their bones as they rip the chain link in half to get to you, mangling themselves to squirm through the torn links. Beyond them is a single open garage door, leading to the safety of a secluded alley. i. Destroy the dogs. <exit into the alley Chapter 6: The Sewers> ii. Mounds of rumble from the steep ridge behind the building block your exit, as do heavy chain link topped with razor wire. Breaking the gated fence is not an option. That same overwhelming pack of hell hounds from earlier is still patrolling the streets, and a few snarl and snap just beyond the links. However, there seems no apparent way to escape.
B. After using the camera to reveal the manhole, the group must tarry to remove the debris, and then down a rusty old ladder you go into the damp dark underworld below. The round tunnels are brick and severely degraded. One end has completely collapsed, leaving you with one direction to pursue. Once again you are left without a source of light, solve your lighting problems and trudge through the knee deep stagnant waters to find an exit. <Steely finds an Earth plate> C. The tunnel winds on for at least a mile, and while you see ladder after ladder leading up to the street above, you always hear the snarling panting breath of those awful dogs. At last you find an exit and listen closely. Theres not a single sound up above, a good sign that its safe to exit. Yet, as the first among you ascend the ladder, your luck runs outs. You can hear a raspy hiss and something large and heavy slithering through the tunnels towards you. Two large Feraligatr, or at least what they used to be, sweep through the waters with their rotting jaws agape, ready to snap and crush your heels. You can't possibly all exit without fending them off first. And to add to your troubles three ordinary sewer rats scurry along the bottom of the walls, slashing at you with the tusk like teeth. <defeat your enemies before exiting to Chapter 7> Edited by Maverick, Jul 25 2009, 01:29 PM.

VIII. Chapter 7: Black Pass Hospital Spoiler: click to toggle A. The party emerges from the sewers in the enclosed courtyard before the aging hospital. Beyond the fog, they can hear the dogs prowling outside the closed gates. Snow is falling, only the soft white dust smears upon trying to sweep it off. It's ash and the ground is covered in it. There's nowhere to go but inside the building and the group gathers in the darkened front lobby to assess their situation and where they go from here. Their objective is still the same. They need to either reclaim the town or discover why the town can't be re-established. So far the monsters and the prevailing fog have been daunting, but only the scraps of story they've gathered give any indication as to what actually happened. Only further investigation into this mystery will determine if the town is redeemable. The group is prompted to begin their investigation of the first floor. They may attempt to investigate any room shown on the first floor map as well as the stairwell. <Group may split up but is encouraged to regroup before leaving each floor.> ![]()
B. With the First Floor covered, the party proceeds to the 2nd floor. Its layout is much the same as the first and the group is encouraged to again explore. ![]()
C. With the 2nd floor covered and the 3rd floor key in hand, the group heads upstairs to repeat their investigation there. Immediately they are bombard by a small army of the undead. Figures that were once human stagger in the hall and grope at the living people trying to enter this space. There are 6 figures total and the party must defeat them befre exploring the darkened floor. ![]()
D. Now that you can check out the roof, you find absolutely nothing there! But wait, something shiny catches your eye. You inspect it and find that its the elusive basement key labeled Morgue. However, before you can head back to the stairwell, the flapping wings of something large kicks up the layers of ash that have settled on the roof top. An enormous skeletal dragon like shape looms above and you screams. At one point it was an Aerodactyl, but now its just a big nuisance with teeth and will to keep on living even though it lacks the lungs to the breathe. Defeat the Boss and proceed to the catacombs below the old hospital in Chapter 8. Edited by Maverick, Jul 25 2009, 01:44 PM.

IX. Chapter 8: The Morgue Spoiler: click to toggle A.The dim stairwell door swings open to reveal the subterranean basement of the hospital. Pitch black save for your flickering light which fell across dusty, ash covered floors. The first thing you notice, through the hazy gloom are the footprints which mar the layer of grime. A single line of boot prints, one seemingly dragging the other laboriously, trails off down the long doorless corridor and vanishes around a corner. You hesitate to listen, but hear nothing and can see nothing save for the single corridor. You have but one way to go and there are no maps of this area. Catering to fates whim you follow the corridor and the prints down the hall and around the corner. The hall opens up into a large chilly room. The far wall is lined with steel cabinets. Two of the doors are open and one hanging off its hinges. The slabs are slid out, but empty. Also in the room are two marble slabs, specially designed for drainage. Various saws and scalpels are still neatly laid on the steel trolleys beside them, all covered in the suffocating ash. The foot prints disappear into a far wall. Dark hand prints stain the panel in one area. You are free to investigate the room, but there is no obvious exit.
B.The group has found the hidden door and finds that it opens into a labyrinth of hand hewn tunnels. The dark earthen walls echo with the sound of something scraping dully over the dry stone floor. The tunnel twists and turns, nd there are many branching ways by which to get lost. So, proceeding through the cramped corridor you descend into the earth and time seems to drag on for eternity until at last you find a crossroads. You could keep going straight or turn left or right.
C. Bogeyman has had enough. The monstrous thing drops the massive steel knife to the stone floor with a clang and retreats down the tunnel, taking the path that leads to a tall wooden door. Blood was the key it seemed, and pressing ones palm against the razor edge piece of the door drew a thick trickle of blood that drained into the doors groove and flooded the engraving. The monster and forced his hand over the point and black blood flows thickly over the symbol. The entire heavy wooden frame shuddered and rose with the cloud of dust into the ceiling. It slammed shut with a bang just as quickly. You would have to cut your own way through, now that you knew the key. Edited by Maverick, Jul 25 2009, 02:47 PM.

X. Chapter 9: Blackpass Church Spoiler: click to toggle A. A steep, narrow stone stairwell wound up into the darkness above. The rough walls that pressed to either side of you as you climbed single file were damp and stank of mildew and old earth. Through the pitch black, halflit as it was with your flickering lights, a heavy trap door hung above you, locked from without. The door was old and rot had had its way. A few swift blows were all that it took to send a rain of damp splinters and pale gray light of the most minscule amount tumbling over your heads. The lock had out lasted the door and dangled from its rusted hinge determined to brain you on your scramble to freedom and fresher air. One by one you emerged into a vestibule and allowed your eyes to adjust to a new sort of half lit gloom. Right away you saw no sign the butcher creature. Plaster cracked and paint peeled in long yellow curling chips from the walls. Candlebra's lay overturned, upset by the passing of time. The carpet, what remained, was threadbare and blackened with soot and rot. Even the cielings were smudged hatefully, blackened by fire. You had resurfaced in the Black Pass church, the same one that your map from the police station showed sat below the mountain entrance to the mine. The entrance ar behind you, closed to the outside and swelled with dampness. At once the cries of things inhuman and unnatural carried over the thick fog that accosted the building. The room you've emerged in was hazy, the windows that give you barest of light from the dead of night are jagged gaping maws of ruined stained glass; the source of the haze and damp. A long aisle parts two sets of splintering blackened pews. Dark shapes pass by the shattered windows and the mournful lows grow louder. The alter is burned and lays in a pile of ash and charcoal (ITEM FIND). On the floor before it, a strange mark that the more attentive among you have seen before. The triangle incasing the circle is etched upon the floor. A hole has been blasted at its center and the edges are charred and gouged with claw marks. The ceiling above the spot is gone; blown away as if by a blast. There are two small rooms located at the back of the auditorium, their entrances located to either side of the podium. One is a storeroom and is cluttered with old moldy books that are no longer discernable and there is a single thin rug clinging to the creaking floor boards. The other is a small office. There is single desk with two drawings and a large oil painting of some sort of an inferno still hanging on the wall behind it. <Search the building>
B. As you search, the growls and groans from outside become more frenzied. Something slams against the swollen wooden doors and moans. The thing beats agianst the doors and movement to the sides of the shadowy auditorium draw your attention as well. Human figures swarm the windows, their sinuey arms reaching passed the broken glass and flailing. There's dozens of them and you're outnumbered six to one even if all your pokemon were called forth to aid you. The doors burst open and those numbers swell as a tidal wave of animated dead sworm the vestibule, blocking your retreat. From the windows now, bodies clamber through, dropping to the floor one at a time as they claw one another to reach the living inside. Their bodies are withered and burned but glowing embers light their vacant skulls and caving chests. <<You are surrounded.>> C. No matter how many shots are fired or what breed of hell you unleash upon these things, nothing duants them and their numbers withstand and renew themselves steadily. They scramble over their fallen brethen even as the corpses crumble to ash beneath them and pin you at the center of the room. You are cornered! You're only escape is the black hole in floor. You flee to the dark pit and take a leap of faith. Your boots crunch on loose rock that slips beneath your feet. There's no time to look back. With the last of your group beating the horde back thats tumblinginto the hole after you, the ones on point anxiously proceed down the long tunnel. A sound slowly begins to make itself known, like the howling of the wind. So soft you ignore it at first but the further in you go the higher the noise rises in tempo until it was like a deep trumpet sounding one unending mournful note. The earth beneath your feet begins to shake and tremble and even the undead hordes at your heels have difficulty staying upright. Dirt and rock fall all around you, but the cieling holds. The tunnel comes to an end, where narrow fissure stands iin your way. there's room enough for only one person to pass through a time. <<Orchistrate your effort to reach the other side of the crack before the zombies overwhelm you! Proceed to Chapter 10>> Edited by Maverick, Jul 25 2009, 05:11 PM.

XI. Chapter 10: The Mine Spoiler: click to toggle A. Battling through the crack in the ground as best you could, you found your selves in the fires of hell. Searing heat blazed and fire roared deep underground. You were in one of the old mining tunnels. One end of this area had collapsed while the other led off into the darkness. Vents along the walls that led to lower levels rolled with black smoke as you hurried away from the zombies trying to clumsily squish through the crack. There was an old rail road track at your feet that you followed. The way was littered with death. Bodies, mummified in the heat lay where they had choked. The tunnel opened up into a larger chamber with another tunnel off to the side. The ground heaved and threw you off your feet. The darkness overhead uttered a low growl and you looked up. Two piercing embers stared back you as you focused on its form. Some low and mottled squatted low on the ceiling like a spider. Its four legs splayed and four toed feet digging into the rock above. It was like living molten lava, and its skin rolled and bubbled like the rock. It sprang, dropping to the floor of the chamber with a thunderous crash. While the beast resembled the fabled Heatran, it was not. Not even a beast rumored to be as old and magnificent at that could compare to this. The demon, for that was all it could be, bellowed. Flames unfurled from its mouth, spouting from its gut as it took one lumbering step towards you. From out of the many smolder corners of the room, beasts begin to crawl to further disorient the group. Battle the beast to your hearts desire, but theres only one way to get rid of it. <Battle length is determined by players>

Naturally, the good ending pays more. As a personal thank you for undergoing treatment as lab rats, I have scattered items throughout the maze for you to find like cheese! Some of these are hold items, and some of them are nice little RP items that I asked you about in chat; fun bonus items that make your profile more colorful and your characters life more interesting.
