What do you know, there's a fishing pond right outside of Moorfeldt City. Was the Universe on his side today? Prosper wasn't sure. But he seemed to have finally had a good stroke of luck. Since a little while after joining the OME, he had decided to put together a team specifically designed to aid him in reconnaissance missions. While it might have seemed silly, considering he already had a full group, he had realized that many of them would not do so well in stealth missions and the like... namely, Watt. She was simply too energetic and boisterous to have on such an undertaking. So, it really was necessary to have a team trained from day one in the art of... the ninja. And, well, Psyduck probably doesn't fit that bill. They're rather confused and pretty empty-headed. But, its evolution... now that was something Prosper hoped he could work with. The Golduck was human-shape and could easily maneuver through water in a pinch, which would probably become a necessity at one point or another. So, that was the mission at the pond today. Prosper had brought along his rod from the Pokemon catching contest awhile back, but had never put it to good use. Today, though, he hoped to use the tool to reel in a new addition to his recon squad. Easier said then done, he thought, sidling up to the water's edge and casting out the line. 0.2 Where was the bait? thought Coldscale, Thirty-Eighth Heir to the Fishing Pond Throne. He stared at the thing as only a fish could, unblinking. There's the hook. Line. Where's the bait? His mouth opened and closed like he was speaking, only no sounds came out. He couldn't even taste bread crumbs in the water. This wasn't very sporting. He swam around below the J of metal, circling it, eyeing the silvery thing as it just simply floated there, looking decidedly uninviting. Where do they get off, thought the Prince of Little Fishes. They cast their lines into our Pond and don't present so much as a bit of worm for us to look at. For some reason he was getting very upset by this. Normally, seeing an amazingly delectible glob of food floating in the middle of the water and knowing that it was an obvious ploy by the tall-walky-creatures at least gave you the impression that some effort had gone into the setup of a trap. But this was just a brazen non-trap. What was this? What was the meaning of a bare hook in the sea? He couldn't rightly stand the sight of it anymore. It was... offensive! With a push of his tail he rocketed past the hook and raced up parallel to the line. He could see the blurry shape of the human before he broke the surface. "What the hell do you call this?" he shouted, incredulous. "You haven't so much as thrown a bread crumb in here! You think we're so desperate for entertainment that we'd go ahead and see what a sharp bit of metal might taste like? We're clever! Rumours of us having lousy memories have been greatly exaggerated! Are you even listening to me?!" And it would a surprise is Prosper was listening to the fish, since the only real sounds he could make were ... none really. His mouth was just flapping open and shut a lot as he contorted his face. His gills fluttered like wings. He portrayed great agitation well enough though. I don't know why I wrote so much crap. Sorry. You have offended a lvl. 27

0.3 It's fine. The post was pretty funny, actually. === Prosper jumped back a bit, startled by the sudden appearance of the Goldeen on the surface, staring at him with some sort of contorted expression that resembled anger. Was it upset with him for trying to fish in the pond? He didn't hope so, but he certainly wasn't going to cater to the whims of some fish that was a little bit unhappy with him. He had a purpose in coming here, and wasn't about to let up because some Goldeen didn't like it. Azure, who had been playing a little off from the pond, streaked up as the noise of sloshing water filled his ears. With wide eyes and a fascinated expression, he crawled up to the water's edge, tucking his paws under his chin and cocking his head at the yelling of the Goldeen. He couldn't hear the noise that the fish was trying to make either, but it was amusing enough to imagine the words that it was forming. "Look, Goldeen... I'm sorry for whatever you're upset about, but I'm not leaving. Can you just go back into the water, please?" Breathing a sigh, Prosper reeled the line back in. Then, with another thrust, hurled it back out, listening to the satisfying zipping sound as it soared through the air and landed in the water with a soft plop. (0.2 )Coldscale, Thirty-Eighth Heir to the Fishing Pond Throne sighed in a very aquatic way, and disappeared back into the water. Plebs and their non-baited hooks, honestly. Anyway, back to fishing. A subtle science and exact art, it was. Even if a fisherman had a specific target in mind, like you did with the whole Psyduck search, it was by no means guaranteed that you would snag one right away, or even relatively quickly. Fishing, above all things, required extreme patience and persistence to do successfully. Example: the fishing pond contained many different species of pokmon. One such waterborne critter took notice of the shiny thing in the water and clamped onto it. Upon pulling it out of the pond (as I would expect you to do if you were fishing and actually taking notice of what the line was doing), you would see not a Psyduck, unfortunately, but a small spiky ball-type deal. It saw you, realised it was on the hook, and promptly became a large spiky ball-type deal. Would you like to beat up this sentient spiky ball, or send it back and get another lottery ticket fish? ~~~~~ Lv. 2884/84 ![]() *hooked* |

0.2 After several minutes of quiet water and absolutely no appearances at all, Prosper had settled along the grass on the water's edge, drowsily staring off into space while still clinging faintly to the fishing pole in his hands. A light tug from the Qwilfish brought him back to reality, almost causing him to drop the rod in surprise. Reminded of his mission here, he tightened the grip on the good rod, pulling while flicking the switch that began to reel it in. With a mighty heave, he brought the hook above the water's edge, not seeing the yellow he was expecting but instead a sphere-shape fish, jetted with spikes all over. Azure, who had been batting at the water with a paw and marveling at the ripples that radiated out, was jolted into action as soon as Prosper began reeling the water Pokemon in. He darted around, waiting to see what was coming up. As soon as the spiky Pokemon broke the surface, he leaped up, practically ready to dive into the water with excitement. He stared at the Qwilfish with astonishment, then erupted into a fit of squeals after it puffed up into a large ball. "Not quite yet..." Prosper muttered, giving the pole a shake and allowing the hooked Swilfish to drop back into the water and swim off. He reeled the pole back in all the way, then threw a glance at the Eevee by his side. Azure turned his bright eyes to Prosper, almost disappointed that he hadn't been allowed to play with the Qwilfish as if it were some sort of giant play toy just for him. Prosper smiled, rubbing a hand over Azure's back before returning to his task, throwing out the line once more. "Maybe third time's the charm, huh?" Prosper glanced at Azure for confirmation, but the newborn merely squealed in a laughing sort of manner and returned to his game of swiping at the water. .3 ![]() I have actually decided that Silly Mods Week shall never end. Instead, it shall become Elijah Will Post Whatever Kind Of Mod He Feels Like Whenever He Wants To Because That Is His Right To Be A Human And To Require Occasional Respite But Will Still Endeavour To Bring Quality To The Masses Time Period. That is one bloody long name for a piece of time. Now, as a moderator of this fine role-playing game, you have an innate understanding and appreciation for the system that is the Pokmon Encounters Table. This is your natural bent, as one of our upstanding players wreathed in red, is it not? We must all show an aptitude for navigating a forum dedicated to the powers that are associated with moderation of this fine forum. I shall now explain my take on the impromptu 'fishing system' that I have discussed with KJ. This is not so much a system as a measure of the quality of your rod versus the upper bound of the various notes created by one KJ Edge to place Pokmon in specific areas. As such, I have trawled your replies to this thread, and deemed that you are indeed in possession of a Rod that is Good. As such, being the second tier of the great Objects That Extract Aquatic Creatures, I shall thusly generate a random encounter from the first tier and second tier of the encounter table based upon the number of the average levels of each of the supernaturally-gifted creatures in your care. This is exceptionally long-winded and I am proud of it. Cookie, please. Short version: Good Rod = Common or Uncommon. Let me do some counting and get my dice, mister APL 21-30... Oh shoot. I was one number away from the Pokmon you wished to encounter. However, this one does look happy to see you, even if it has some metal poking into its face, you bastard. ----- ![]() Lv. 29, 87/87 ![]() - :) |

0.3 That was awesomesauce. *cookies* === Shoot, this one looked interesting. Prosper hadn't been expecting to hook some sort of bug while fishing, especially one that looked so interesting. Most bugs weren't generally very attractive, but the array of colors splashed across Masquerain caught his eye and immediately hooked him. The gentle beating and fluttering of its gorgeous wings really interested him, and he just knew that this was a Pokemon that he wanted. Granted, not enough to spend a long stretch of time trying to befriend it... but you know, he's been doing that a lot lately. "C'mon out, Kyubi." Prosper tossed the ball away from the water, smiling at the Ninetales as she appeared, stretching a bit while swishing her golden tails through the air. Azure perked up once more, thrilled with the prospect of seeing a real battle unfold right in front of him. How exciting was that? He darted over to Kyubi, running circles around her until she flicked her ears in annoyance, moving towards the water while keeping an eye on the hovering Masquerain. "Try out that new combo we worked out. And go easy, huh? Please don't rough it up too much." Prosper motioned to the flying bug as he glanced at Kyubi. She nodded in response, wasting not a moment as she opened her muzzle, releasing a twisting torrent of flames that began to coil about the lake, preparing to circle around the Masquerain in a trap of sorts. With it immobilized, she would release a small burst of Flamethrower, just enough to weaken it while Prosper fished for a ball, ready to toss it as soon as her maneuver was complete. ![]() Level 34 102/102 ![]() [Fire Spin] [Flamethrower] VS ![]() Level 29 87/87 ![]() - tossing -Landmark: Fishing Pond Notes: Fishing for a Psyduck, preferably male. [.3 ]The Masquerain, though small, shot an intimidating look to it. Your Ninetails could not help but feel slightly less confident in its own abilities, but it wasnt enough to make it back down. She stood firm and ready to stand her ground against the insect. Ninetails quickly prepared herself to unleash her Fire Spin attack; however Masquerain was faster and managed to slam herself into the fire fox Pokmon. Kyubi was only slightly affected by this, as it actually barely did any damage at all. But she wasnt going to let it stand, and quickly replied with her spinning flame tornado thing, effectively cutting off the bugs only mean of escape. Masquerain wouldnt go down without a fight however. He quickly reached into the pond below him, and using his wings, began to splash the water in every which way. This effectively put out the multi tailed foxs fire trap and covered him in head to toe in water, which was actually a good idea. A second later, Masquerain was struck dead on by a concentrated stream of flames from Kyubi. This wouldve actually ended the battle right then and there, but thanks to the fact that he had soaked himself in water a second earlier, it only did half the damage it wouldve done. Still the Masquerain was struck pretty hard and could already feel fatigue starting to take over. It was then that Proper seized the opportunity. He managed to fish out a Great ball and toss it at the injured Pokmon. He was quickly sucked inside before the blue sphere landed on the water. It lay there; randomly moving at the Masquerain valiantly struggled to get out, but to no avail. The device pinged and the red light shut off. It had been captured. ![]() Level 34 93/102 ![]() [+.8 ]VS ![]() Level 29 15/87 ![]() [Caught! 2 for almost turning him into an extra crispy critter. It's is sent to the PC.]

0.3 The skill with which Masquerain fought back against Kyubi honestly surprised him; he guessed that, through his training, he had ended up with the assumption that wild Pokemon were generally less intelligent and tactful then ones carefully guided through training. The bug was smart, though, covering itself and water and such to protect against the fire fox's deadly pyro techniques. In the end, though, it was to no avail--her offense was still sufficient enough to ensnare the water bug in Prosper's Greatball. "Score!" Prosper exclaimed, watching the ball as it circled around in mid-air, then vanished with a quick flash of light as it was transported to the PC. Kyubi turned, flicking her tails through the air victoriously. Azure let out a victorious battle cry, leaping forward pouncing into Kyubi with an ecstatic vigor. She purred amusingly at the little tyke, dropping her tails in a fan over his tiny body until he was completely obscured from view. As soon as it went dark, Azure let out a shrill cry as if the sun had blotted out over the earth. Prosper watched the two, shaking his head. "You just love torturing him, don't you?" The fox threw a glance at him, shrugging her head as she lifted her hold and Azure appeared once more, relieved to find that the light had indeed returned. Their trainer decided to get back to what he had come here for; already, enough time had been wasted by this short detour to the pond. He collected the rod for another round, casting it into the water and then waiting... and waiting... Landmark: Fishing Pond Notes: Fishing for a Psyduck, preferably male. Cast: 32/50 |

[.3 ]Your perseverance and patience would make any fisherman proud. After all, most people wouldve given up by this point, but no you had faith. You kept your eyes on the prize you wanted, and would not leave without it. It was an admirable quality, which would of course pay off in due time. Everything remained quiet as you just waited and waited and waited Suddenly, you felt a tug at your pole. At first, you thought it was nothing, but then you feel another tug. The second tug didnt let up, and seemed to be trying to pull you and your rod down to the bottom of the small pond. You braced yourself and with a sharp yank managed to pull out what was tugging on your rod. Not three feet from you, hung in mid air by your fishing line, was a small yellow duck. Yes, it was what you had been looking for all this time a Psyduck. The yellow billed flightless bird looked at you with inquisitive eyes, looking almost innocent. However, before you could even try anything, his expression changed. His eyes became devious and devilish grin appeared on his face. Without warning, he opened his mouth and shot out a stream of water at you, knocking you down. The Psyduck landed on the edge of the pond perfectly unharmed, with a smile on his face. While you lay there all drenched and slightly dazed, the colorful duck stuck its tongue out at you in a taunting manner, before turning around and jumping back into the pond. The Psyduck traveled a few feet away and stuck its head out from under the water. He looked back at you and taunted you again, this time however, it seemed like it wanted to see if you would actually try and swim after it. A moment later he popped his head back down and hid in the pond waiting to see if you followed it. Well the good news is that you found the Psyduck that you wanted to find. Bad news, looks like your gonna have to get wet for it hope you brought your wet suit. ![]() Lv. 28 84/84 ![]() [Just drenched you with his Water Gun, before going back into the water.] Edited by Angel, Apr 18 2009, 02:59 PM.

0.3 I'm not sure if I mentioned this, but Prosper was sort of sitting near the edge of the pond to rest his broken ankle and such. Sorry for the mess up~ D: === Another tug. Another disappointment? Prosper struggled with whatever it was on the other side, probably about to discover it was an old boot or something like those characters in the cartoons did. But, with the way this thing moved, it was sure to be something alive... and powerful. Seriously, this thing was impossible to reel. What was this thing, a pond-dwelling Gyarados? Maaaannnn. With another yank, though, it was finally lifted up. And there, finally, was that yellow he had been seeking. There, hanging by the line, was a Psyduck! Sweet relief. That was, until the bill opened and a torrent of water streamed out, smacking into Prosper and soaking him to the bone. What. The. Crap. That water was cold! The look on the duck's face after jumping back into the water suggested that it wanted Prosper to follow, but the trainer just shook his head, pointing to the plaster around his leg. Uh uh, no swimming for this guy for a few more days... at least until it was finally taken off. Perhaps, though, Prosper could give the water Pokemon another contender. One who was much of a better swimmer than him. Snapping up Raine's ball, he tossed it over the water. The Seadra plopped down, surprised to see the water surrounding her. It had been awhile since Prosper had allowed her a chance to swim. She spun a few times, reveling in the free feeling that the crystal liquid granted her which land could not. "See what the Psyduck wants, Raine, please," Prosper called out, pointing to the bright yellow duck, to which Raine spun around to face. She floated cautiously over, sizing up the other water Pokemon and snorting. She could swim waaaaay better then him, she bet. ![]() Level 33 99/99 ![]() -Seeing what Psyduck is after- ===== ![]() Level 28 84/84 ![]() -Floating in water, just drenched Prosper- Landmark: Fishing Pond Notes: Encountered Psyduck, apparently wants something Cast: 33/50 Edited by Fantasy Shadow, Apr 18 2009, 06:08 PM.

.3 ![]() You know, I really can't think of anything this Psyduck wants. I mean, really. What would a Psyduck, who can't even remember its own name half the time, want from a human? Um... yeah. This mod sucks because I thought I was in modding mode and then I'm hit with this. Damnit, brain, work. Right then. This Psyduck, upon seeing Raine, turns French and will surrender... with a condition! Maybe not so French. Oh snap. It wants something epically shiny. That's right, it wants a shiny thing, and if you don't bring it a shiny thing it won't even look at you. What a nice duck. ...Why does it have to be so stupid, though? I don't get that. I possibly never will. I suppose they just don't like ducks, those racist Japanese. Making it a terminally-stupid duck and all. It could've been cool, but no, it had to be short, fat, stupid and ugly. Why would anyone want a Psyduck, they must've thought to themselves. So they made it intentionally unpopular. You know, I get the feeling they do that a lot with Pokmon designs. So yeah. Shiny thing. Get to it, slave! D< Or so thinks the Psyduck, anyway. ----- wants a tribute of shiny! Nao!

0.2 SHINEHFORREALZAREYUSERIOUZ? Get for ready for the worst post ever. === Japanse aren't racist, silly. BUT I AM. JUST KIDDING. Anywho, Prosper didn't exactly understand the quacks of the Psyduck about wanting something shiny... because, you know, he doesn't speak Pokemonese or whatever their silly language is. So he grabbed up Xyla's Pokeball, tossing it to the side. And there she was. Asleep. Or meditating. Or something. Point is, her eyes were closed, and she was a bit irritated about being disturbed. Yes, master? She could even sound sarcastic telepathically. "See what the Psyduck wants, please." She sighed heavily, but took a quick sweep of the duck's mind, then reported back. Well, after digging through that HEAVILY complicated brain of his, I discovered he wants something.... shiny. "You're not serious." He sighed, pondering on the items he had in his pack. There were all those stones, but he wasn't about to give up such rare items to a Psyduck. Finally, an idea struck him. He released Leaf while digging through his pack, finally fishing a tiny, golden revive out. "Use Sunny Day, Leaf. See if we can't brighten this little crystal up." The Meganium wondered what the point was, but nodded, glancing up towards the sky. Even he didn't understand his new powers that enabled him to intensify the sun on a whim, but hey, it was cool. Ordinarily, the Revive probably wouldn't be very bright, but perhaps with the help of some extra sunlight, it would sparkle just enough to please the Psyduck. Here goes nothing. Prosper thought idly as he held the Revive up, right in plain sight of the Psyduck, waiting to see what the added rays would do. Raine just sort of chortled. Xyla would have facepalmed, if she could. ![]() -Sunny Day- - Holding up -Landmark: Fishing Pond Notes: Encountered Psyduck, using Sunny Day, offering up Revive as tribute. 0.3 Awesome, as always. I don't know how you do these poems. Do I get to keep the revive, since I caught the Psyduck? Or is he keeping it? 'Cause I can totally make it into a necklace or something for him... :D === Prosper waited, studying the Psyduck's face for some sort of reaction. After a few agonizing seconds, the duck seemed to have accepted it. Was it really that easy? That simply? It was well-known Psyduck were pretty dim-witted, but he had never imagined it would go this far. Joining up with a trainer because they had something that glittered... it was laughable. Fetching a Luxury Ball from his pack, Prosper glanced back at Psyduck, just in case it had any second thoughts. With no visible protest, Prosper nodded, hurling the ball forward. It hit Psyduck hit in the stomach, withdrawing him inside. A few moments later and it dinged, the light fading away. Prosper shook his head, trying to hold back a snicker. He just hoped he could somehow the Psyduck to be a bit more intelligent then it was now. "Back to the city, huh, guys?" The three Pokemon exchanged looks, as if they really couldn't believe what they just saw. Azure, still far too distracted, continued on with his games after the momentary interruption. Prosper, not really able to them, returned each in turn then dug out the practically unused Escape Rope device out. He wasn't about to take any chances on a return trip to Moorfeldt filled with obstacles; he just wanted a comfy bed and a good night's sleep. Here's hoping. He thought, punching the button and then blinking away. Cast: 35/50 Edited by Fantasy Shadow, Apr 20 2009, 03:33 PM.
