So you wanna be a master?
So Stuff Happened and I has a baby Buneary now.

Taking all 8.6 of my gexp and .4 from my mod gexp to raise it up to level 6.

Switchin' King for Eevee Egg.

APL drops to 8.25. Augh.

"Oshitoshitoshit it's haaaaatching,"

Normally most people would be happy about this, and Cerb was, but she was also freaking the fuck out from not exactly knowing what to do. Plunked on the floor of the Pokemon Center with her Buneary egg in her hands, she gingerly tapped on the shell, wondering what to do, and jumped when it wiggled violently in her hands. "Aaaack, what should I dooooo?"

"Pika," Sparky informed from where he was perched on a bench next to Tom, with Lady sprawled under it looking throughly bored. She couldn't eat the egg, therefore she was not interested in it. Cerb glared over at her electric rodent, making a face.

"You are not hel - " CRACK. "Eeeek!"

The egg rocked wildly back and forth in her hands, little cracks spiderwebbing up one side from where the occupant was apparently kicking at it, because finally a little foot broke through the shell and sent shards flying. The teen nearly dropped her egg as a paw then broke through, and then finally a set of rolled up ears. Making little wibbling baby noises, the Buneary flailed around amongst the nest of egg shards, looking for something that could be identified as 'Mommy'. Cerb, after being a vegetable for all of five seconds, scrambled to meet that need.

"Heeey there! Aren't you a good baby, oh yes," she crooned, carefully lifting the Buneary out from the remains of the eggshell and cleaning off the remaining bits of eggshell sticking to the slightly damp fur. The little rabbit again made the wibbling noises and flailed its paws a little, looking up at Cerb with a wondering look. The teen grinned down and patted it on the head a little, before reaching for the blanket the egg had originally been wrapped up in and proceeded to snuggle her baby up in it instead. "Now then," she mused, cuddling her wrapped up baby against her chest for a moment, "I bet you're hungry, hunh?"

"Buuuun!" The little rabbit squeaked out, nearly making Cerb's hair stand on end for a second from surprise.

"Okaaaay. Let's see if the nurse can help me out here," she mumbled, scrambling to her feet and trotting off to find a helpful nurse somewhere that could help with Food for Baby.

'And there goes the neighborhood,' Lady grumbled from under the bench, flattening her ears against her head. Augh, babies would wail and cry and make noise and demand attention and they'd all turn into chopped liver. Stupid babies.

The other two on the bench shrugged, Sparky's mouth gaping wide in a yawn. Eh, babies.

--

So fifteen minutes later.

"Good thing that nurse had this stuff on hand," Cerb mumbled, adjusting her grip on the bottle the Buneary was busily slurping at. "She said we got a girl, too. Innit that great, guys? Can always use more girls,"

Lady growled a little from under the bench, and Cerb had to resist kicking at her with her foot. Knowing the Poochyena, she'd gnaw it off or something and that would be very bad, oh yes. "I think I'm gonna call her Evangeline."

"Meooow," Tom commented, to the effect of 'long name, wao'. Sparky shrugged and wrinkled his snout, knowing that there would be some weird nickname going along with that or something. Crazy trainer.

Finally done her meal, the little rabbit burped loudly and snuggled down into her blankets for a snooze. Cerb tucked the bottle away in her pocket and very carefully stood up, looking towards the doors to the Center. She could introduce Eva to a Pokeball later, but there was something else she had to find out right now.

"You guys want in, or you want out?" She asked, pointing at the Pokeballs on her belt. The three were quiet for a moment before just shrugging, Sparky and Tom hopping off the bench and Lady slowly slinking out from under it. Whee, another worthless quest of fun? Let's go. :<

"This is more an information gathering thing than anything," she informed the hairballs clustered around her ankles, carefully adjusting her grip on her sleeping baby. "Don't expect much. At least we can take in the sights here in Escennia, eh? I bet Tom can show us around, since he's a native and all."

"Meow," the Meowth shrugged, flicking his tail. He knew most of the layout of the city, but he'd never paid much attention to it. Unless there were fishheads involved somewhere, then he knew plenty about that. Fiiiiishheads.

"So...yeah. Time to go. Y'wanna lift, Sparky?" Cerb asked, holding her arm down to the Pikachu. Sparky blinked up at her for a second, doing the Pokemon version of boggling. Shoulder riding was usually reserved for Zipper and all that. But...the Zigzagoon wasn't there, and the Pikachu prefered riding to walking around the city all day.

"Pika," he chittered, coiling his little legs and springing up onto her arm before scrambling up to her shoulder. The teen wobbled a little, adjusting to his weight on her shoulder before carefully resnuggling her Buneary.

"And now we go," she muttered, heading out the Center doors with Tom and Lady trotting at her heels. Out in the street, she looked up and down the road, trying to think if there was a district of particularly old buildings somewhere before setting off down the street. If she could find someone who lived here to ask about the surrounding architecture, that would be nice.

And so, with an entourage of randomness, Cerb E. Russ set out on a grand adventure of looking through some snobby city that hated you.

And I am entirely serious about that, actually. The city of Escennia, walled high and full of the rich and affluent, was rather full of snobbish people that turned their noses up at some 'commoner trash' like Cerb and her follower Pokmon. It happened. These people were sed to seeing trainers, and could spot them immediately; the clothes they wore, the way they carried themselves... nothing like the high-born traditionalists of Escennia, the grand city of culture and history.

Most people looked the other way when the trainer walked past. Certainly that was going to be a bit of a downer; if people were refusing to speak to her, how was she going to get anywhere on this stupid looking test?

Right then. Either step up the searching or give up!

Fortunately, that wasn't going to be a problem. There was a man on a park bench, feeding a flock of Starly out of a small brown paper bag, assumedly bread crumbs; he was the typical nice old man who didn't mind being nice to the local wildlife and overall being... yes, nice. In fact, he was probably the only person that would wave to Cerby in the whole damn town, seriously.

"Ho there, trainer!" he called. He, like the others, knew what he was looking at - but unlike those same others, he wasn't going to turn her away. A local couple turned their noses up at the old man when he said that, those two walking past in the meantime.

"You seem lost?" he asked plainly. Well. At least he was being polite? Maybe he could be pumped for information with the right questions.

Being the dense little twit that she was, it was actually taking Cerb quite a while to figure out why everyone kept ignoring her or turning up their noses or making faces like they'd just smelled something nasty. Several times she paused to sniff at her jacket and make sure it wasn't dirty or smelly or anything like that, but no, all her clothes were clean and she'd showered recently.

"The hell is up with all these people?" She mumbled quietly, so as not to taint the innocent sleeping baby's ears. Apparently someone is finally beginning to notice what the problem is. "'s like they've got their high horses jammed up their asses or something."

"Pika," Sparky shrugged, looking around at some more snobby people before pointing to Lady with his paw, the Poochyena growling Angrily at everything that moved. "Pi pika pi,"

"Nonono, I don't want Lady biting people. That would be baaaad and get us kicked out of here, yes,"

Sparky shrugged and continued going back to looking around for helpful people or Interesting Buildings while Cerb mumbled and grumbled and considered shanking someone for information. Shanking with what, I'm not quite certain. Maybe Tom. Either way, the Pikachu did his best to block out his trainer and focus on the noises around them, his ears pricking up when he heard what actually sounded like a friendly greeting. "Pi!" He chittered, fwapping Cerb on the ear to get her attention and pointing over at the nice old man on the bench. "Pi pi!"

"Owwtf," Rubbing her ear, the teen looked over to see the guy and his flock of hungry Starly, just in time to catch his query. "Hunh? Oh, hi. We're not lost." Pause. "Lady, don't you dare chase those,"

"Hrrrr," the Poochyena growled predatorily, eyeing the Starly as she slipped into a crouch and slunk forward. Rolling his eyes, Tom reached out with a paw and grabbed Lady by the collar to jerk her back, making her soothe bell jingle erratically. "Harf!"

"Meow," Tom chastised calmly, shaking the dark dog around by her collar even as she flailed and snapped her jaws at him. Cerb sweatdropped at her two Pokemon, and determined Tom had it handled. Covering her baby's ears so the noise wouldn't wake Eva, the teen skittered on over closer to the old guy so she could pump him for information.

"I guess you could just call us hapless tourists or something," she said, picking her way around the Starly and trying not to disturb them from their meal. "All the architecture around here is really interesting. I am wondering though," here she paused, trying to think of the best way to phrase the next few sentences. "Do you know of any towers in this city that've...fallen down? Or...been lost?" Cerb sweatdropped a little at the lame phrasing, but she couldn't think of any other way to put it better. ...ornowait, she could. "Magically vanishing towers? A Lost Tower?"

...nope, still lame. Way to go, idiot.

The Starly gathered about did not flee at the new disturbance, for they were all eating their breadcrumbs merrily. It was a pleasant day, and hey, it was free food for them - why not stick around and get more until this old guy could no longer give? It was a relatively logical plan, and as such, they were still there, despite the new danger to them in the form of Lady.

The old man, meanwhile, listened intently to Cerb, for well, not many people talked to him. Too kind and generous was he to those not of the Escennian heritage, and as such he was shunned by those around him. An unfortunate case one would have thought that he wouldve garnered some respect by being a good citizen. Such was not true and such was life, really.

At length did he consider Cerbs question, thinking carefully about the answer... far-fetched as the question was. Indeed, the last little bit made him chuckle for a good few seconds before he found the answer he was looking for.

Magical towers? Ywont be findin those in Escennia, young miss. No, your first question was closer to the mark; Escennias a very old city, and weve had many collapsed and ruined buildings. As for towers? Thereve been about five of em over the years of any note. One near the old city centre west of here, one tthe north, two tthe east near the city gates and one in the south-west. I dont know what interest theyd have for ye, but youre most welcome to explore the city. And ignore everyone who doesnt like the way ylook theyre just not friendly, most Escennians.

Well. There was your answer if you wanted to explore Escennia, there were five towers to check out, and hopefully one of them might have some relation to the quest that Cerb was on. Five towers, huh There was a whole lot of climbing and searching to be had. Hey, it was better than the trip into the forest so far, right? That had to count for something.

Both Cerb and Sparky listened carefully to the old man, ignoring Tom and Lady fussing around in the background about the Starly.

"Five towers, hunh..." The teen chewed the inside of her cheek thoughtfully for a moment before digging into her pocket and pulling out her Poketech. "Here Spark, pull up a map of Escennia, would you?" She asked, handing the device up to the Pikachu. "Can't do it with Eva in my arms. Just hit that little picture of the map and then select Escennia, it'll enlarge the picture,"

"Pika," Sparky nodded, taking the device in his paws somewhat awkwardly and fussing around with the screen and the buttons. While he was doing that, Cerb looked around to make sure there weren't any Starly eating her ankles and checked on her baby to make sure she was still sleeping comfortably and all that. "Pi,"

"Y'got it?" The Pikachu dangled the Poketech down next to the side of her head, making her crane her neck a little to see the display screen with the map of the city on it. "Good boy. Now hit the marker function, 's that little thing there that looks like a star,"

While Sparky was fussing with that, Cerb looked back to the nice old man. "Thanks a lot. D'ya think you'd mind marking their locations on the map? I'd probably get hopelessly lost otherwise,"

"Pika," Sparky once more forked over the Poketech, which the teen offered out to the old man.

"The marker function is on, so you can just tap where the towers are," she said, looking over her shoulder for a second at her bickering Pokemon before turning her attention back to where it should be. "Out of those five, which of them is the oldest, would you say?"

While Sparky was off doing that - probably making a lot of mistakes on the way because most Pokmon didn't really know where they were in relation to a map of a land - the old man watched with interest. This young lady was certainly interested in her ancient architecture!

Eventually, he took the Poktech and, with some deliberation, tried to place all five of the towers on the map in the appropriate locations, having a little trouble with pressing on the screen because this technology was relatively new to him. But eventually, marking the fifth tower on the map, he passed the device back to Cerb, and thought about her question.

"Well... That'd be the one closest to here. Last I 'member it was the old clock tower, and so it'd be reasonably old. Then probably after that, the two old gate towers - they'd be rather old at this point, too."

That was probably all the information needed to go and search these towers. One of them surely had to have this thing that she was looking for, right? Maybe? Hopefully?

Oh well, whatever. Time to go and give it a shot, probably. At least she'd had a lot of help in the process, fortunately.

"Clock tower... Shouldn't be too hard to find," Cerb mused to herself, taking back her Poketech and blinking at all five little dots on the screen. Kinda looked like a triangle, almost. "Well, thanks again mister. C'mon you two, time to take another stroll,"

Tom didn't release his grip on Lady's collar as their trainer skittered back over through the Starly, not until she was in a position to grapple the Poochyena herself if she had to. Lady snarled and shook herself loose from the cat's paw, huffing angrily at all the Starly with her ears flat, bell swaying faintly from her collar. Cerb looked down at her other two Pokemon and then at her Poketech, judging her position from the clock tower and then the other two towers at the gates. "We're gonna be doing a bit of walking now, I think. If you guys get tired, lemme know, I'll stick ya back in your ball."

"Meow," Tom nodded, tilting his head to the side a little as to where they were walking, exactly. Cerb blinked down at her Poketech again, before pointing down off in the general direction of their first target, the clock tower.

"We're goin' that way. Keep an eye out for tower things, 'kay guys? And stick close, I dun wanna lose ya in this city." After a moment of determining that holding the 'tech in one hand and Eva in the other arm would be awkward and painful on her elbow, Cerb handed up the device to Sparky again and went back to cradling her baby with both arms. "Sparky, you're copilot. Now we're goin',"

And so they went, with Tom and Lady trailing at her heels and Sparky occasionally chittering and shoving her head one way or another, as per the directions on the Poketech.

By anyone's reckoning, Sparky is one smart rat. And fortunate for Cerby that he was! Without the guidance of the Pikachu, she probably would've screwed up everything and gotten lost about ten times on the way there, even though you basically only had to make one turn to the right. Oh well.

Regardless - there were two clock towers in immediate sight. The first was the new clock tower, the closer one to Cerb, a veritable testament to modern construction techniques as the building rose high in the sky, displaying the time twenty-four hours a day with its black hands and gigantic clock-face. It was many stories high and was certainly a tower to be reckoned with. However, this was not the tower Cerb was interested in.

The other tower was barely six stories high, and was... rather ruined. Constructed mainly from bricks, the tower seemed to be only half-intact; there were many holes in the walls, but there was, somehow, still a working stairway up to the top - mostly. The clock face itself was completely worn, with one of the hands of the clock missing and the other's golden colour peeling off. Did it fit the description of a ruined tower? Yes. Yes it did.

Out the front was a sign saying 'Escennian Heritage Site. Do not litter, deface or damage this structure.' Well. Had to be careful, then; people were likely allowed up it in order to take some snapshots of the city from a reasonably high vantage point. Most of the top had crumbled away, leaving something of a platform for people to go and use.

Was the treasure up there? Gonna have to go and find it, first.

Indeed, Sparky was a smart little critter. Though Cerb was gonna swear he didn't need to pull on her hair quite so hard to get her to go the right direction.

Coming to a stop, the teen looked up and around the area they had ended up in. In front of them was a shiny new clock tower, which...obviously wasn't what she was looking for at all, because it was clearly still -there-. And did we mention it was shiny? Very shiny. The other one was...over there, and it looked more like the sort of thing she should be searching for. Crumbly, motheaten, etc.

"Well, 's hardly 'no more', but...it is a tower," Cerb mumbled, walking up to the sign in front of the ancient structure and peering closely at it for a moment to read about the guidelines and visiting hours and whatnot. She didn't want to offend the citizens of Escennia by going around wrecking their ancient towers searching for stuff. After studying the place s'more, she nodded a little to herself and looked down at Tom and Lady. "I think it'll prolly be better the fewer things there are running around in there, so... You guys're goin' back in the balls for a little bit. I'll let you out later,"

After slowly and consecutively zapping back her two Pokemon, Cerb carefully looked around the area to make sure it was reasonably emptied of people, and then sloooowly slunk her way into the old building with the utmost care, feeling like either a vandal or a ninja. She herself couldn't tell which. The inside of the building was drafty and dark, dappled with sun spots on the walls from the numerous cracks and holes in the brickwork. The teen nervously eyed the staircase up to the top, unconsciously adjusting her grip on Eva to be more secure. The Buneary gurgled a little in her sleep, but she still didn't wake up.

"If I was gonna hide something here, it'd prolly be up at the top," she mumbled to Sparky, the Pikachu nodding slowly after a moment. "So up we go, I guess." Making her way towards the stairs, the teen cautiously ascended the first couple of steps. After making sure the whole thing wasn't immediately going to collapse and send her flailing down into the abyss or something, she continued to climb, though with a continued sense of slight trepidation.

And so the tower was climbed. With the Pokmon back in their storage devices, barring young Evangeline, the trip was far easier to make.

The tower's climbing levels were... simplistic at best. The building was a winding concrete staircase with n open centre for shafts and gears and the like; the mechanisms were mostly intact, but the same could not be said for the stairs. There were cracks, faults and gaps all the way up, with a flight of stairs that was completely intact being a rare privilege. Of course, the place was climbable; were it not, the Escennians would have closed it down by now.

They were, if anything, concerned for their own safety.

As such, the way to the top was... well, bare. There was the perfectly-still core shaft, and the concrete stairs, devoid of anything except the breaks. Well, at least getting up to the top was an easy enough task then, hm? There was nothing to see, much less to examine in detail.

Unfortunately, the top was the same. One concrete flat piece that was - surprisingly - in one piece, plus half-walls made of brick that were at different heights at different places. It was as if someone had hit this building's top with a wrecking ball and let the place fall down as it would, but was unsuccessful in doing so. At best, it was easy to see the other four towers from here, rising in the distance - even though Escennia had many tall towers, the four ruined ones were visible, all in various states of disrepair. It was unclear from here which would be likely to hold that which was being searched for.

It was clear that there was no emblem to be had here. If there was, someone would have taken it by now.

"Well, if this isn't a slight bummer," Finally at the top, Cerb looked around at the blank slab and shook her head. Aside from being a good jumping off point for suicidal people, there wasn't much there. Sighing, the teen slumped to the ground and carefully leaned up against one of the half walls for a little rest. Hey, climbing six stories worth of hazardous ruined stairs was tiring.

Having not had to do a lick of walking himself, Sparky dropped the Poketech in his trainer's lap and sprang off her shoulder to the floor, padding around to sniff and inspect things. Cerb watched him mooch around a second before reaching down to get her Poketech and study her next options.

There were those two towers on either side of Escennia's gates, which were the other oldest out of all five of them. Cerb vaguely remembered seeing them when she trudged into the city, but then again, she'd been in a bit of a panic with Eva's hatching and not thinking properly at the time.

And then there were the other two towers, one in the extreme north of the city and the other in the extreme south. The teen chewed the inside of her cheek a bit in thought, hm'ing to herself. North town, north tower? It was worth looking at, in any case, and it was somewhat on the way to the other two towers, so she wouldn't be going terribly out of her way. That would leave the one down in the extreme south, and that would be quite a walk indeed... But hey, she was a wandering trainer. They had to walk a whole fuckin' lot, so she was getting pretty used to it by now.

"'cha see over there, Sparky?" Cerb asked, lifting her head to look at her Pikachu perched up on the wall, overlooking the city. The Pikachu chittered back, twitching his tail a little as he flicked an ear in her direction. Escennia, 's what. Duh. The teen snorted a little, pausing and looking down as something yawned near her chest. Eva's caramel - colored eyes blinked back up, one ear twitching.

"Bun?"

"Good afternoon there, sleepy," Cerb chuckled, one hand straying down towards her pocket where the remains of Eva's bottle from earlier was. "You just feel like joining the world now, or are ya hungry again?"

"Buun," the rabbit squeaked, craning her head to look around. This didn't look like the place she'd hatched in at all. Cerb rubbed at the base of one of Eva's ears, and the Buneary gradually calmed down, deciding to suck on one of her paws instead. The teen stroked her fur a little more before carefully retucking the blankets around her baby and slowly getting up from the floor, holding Eva in one arm and her Poketech in the other.

"Sparky, come back here. I need my other set of hands," Cerb jokingly complained, flailing her one free arm and making sure not to drop her precious Poketech. The Pikachu blinked back over his shoulder for a moment, before turning around and coiling his legs, using the wall as a jumping off point to spring back to Cerb's shoulder. The teen wobbled a bit as the electric rat hit home and scrambled around a bit to keep his balance, tail smacking against her cheek as he turned around to sit in the appropriate position. "Owowow. I give that landing a six,"

"Pika," Sparky retorted, making a face as he plunked his rear down on her shoulder and took the offered Poketech. Now with her other hand not occupied, the teen went back to holding her Buneary with two arms, the little rabbit blinking curiously up at the yellow rat Up There.

"Bun bun?"

"Pika," the Pikachu chittered, leaning down near Cerb's chest to sniff at Eva, who batted her paws at him.

"Eary!"

"Pika chu!"

"If you're gonna do that, Sparky, get on my other shoulder," Cerb mumbled a little as she started to head back down the stairs. "'m gonna fall down the stairs at this rate,"

Pouting a little, the Pikachu sat back up straight and fussed with his ears as his trainer began picking her way down the nasty stairs as fast as she could go without falling through them. It was a lot less tiring to go down stairs than it was up them. Eva looked around curiously from her spot in the teen's arms, making little wibbling noises every now and then.

--

Down back outside the tower, Tom and Lady once more appeared in twin flashes of light, the Meowth and Poochyena looking up at their trainer somewhat expectantly. Cerb shrugged, whuffing a little to get her breath back from all the climbing. "Not the right tower, sorry guys. Gotta do a little more walking, up north this time. Right Sparky?" She asked, tilting her head to look at the Pikachu, Poketech in paws. More hairpulling, here we come. Sparky nodded, chittering.

"So...right. Walking. C'mon fellas, 's good exercise. Keep your legs nice and strong, build up your endurance," Cerb nodded, trying to convince herself as much as them of the Importance of Walking. Tom shrugged and padded along after a moment's consideration, Lady trailing more slowly behind his rear. The jingling of the dog's soothe bell told Cerb that Lady was still with the group as she walked along, north this time to the next tower.

Ah, to be crossing the city once more... it was a rather easy feeling. The sun up high was not beating down furiously - no, it felt rather pleasant, and coupled with a gentle breeze that decided to blow, today was indeed a good day to be looking for things and going all over town. Sure, Cerb should've invested in some bottled water, but we can't all be perfect, right?

Oh, hey, a Swablu overhead. Cool.

Eventually, the city was crossed some, and the next destination located with a minimum of hair-pulling, and the second tower stood tall in front of the group. This second tower seemed... rather plain. It also didn't look exactly ruined... well, kind've. It looked to be in disuse more than anything, and there were many cracks forming in the brickwork, and there was also a lot of moss. It probably would fall down soon, so I suppose it qualified as ruined.

his tower was a circular tower, a perfect circle, with crenellations along the top that signified it was likely used in times past as a watchtower. A useful thing, too; as Escennia was built atop a hill, a tall tower such as this would have been excellent as a defensive fortification, even if it was some distance away from the walls. Ah well. Perhaps the walls used to be smaller.

So too did this place have similar signs posted out the front of it as well, and as such, we are all aware of what the warnings were. This tower was internally rather similar, but a lot less dangerous - as such it was easier to climb, and it was but one staircase, with murder-holes placed all around it, as if one were expected to fire arrows or lob bombs through them. This was certainly some kind of battle tower when it had been less... broken.

However, reaching the top, there was... to be nothing found, nor on the inside. Everything, much as the first, was way too plain. Well, there was something - but that something was a person, not an emblem. That person looked to carry himself just like any other high-born Escennian, with riding boots, and reasonably fancy clothing otherwise in green and white.

"So... you are the one going around and inspecting the towers of this city, hmm? My pet here-" and at that point, he reached out to the Swablu perched on his shoulder- "told me of someone coming from the other tower in this direction."

Oh crap. He knew what was happening too.

"You seek the Dream Emblem, then - I, too, search for it, but you are some kind of commoner trash and likely wish to use it for battle. I simply wish to ask it to help restore Escennia to its former glory, to elevate this city to the status in the world that it truly deserves, both by repairing the damage to our fair city and by becoming our mascot. A far more noble cause than whatever yours is. After all - if the Dream Emblem truly is in our city, it makes sense that an Escennian should claim it, does it not?"

A short, sharp laugh issued from his mouth, and both of his hands came to rest upon his hips as he stared haughtily down at Cerb. This guy looked to be in his early twenties, and on his belt rested three Pokballs - one of them was assumedly for the Swablu resting on his shoulder.

"I am almost done with my search - hopefully soon I will come across the Dream Emblem, if I am worthy. And I, Damien Marius, Escennian treasure seeker, will stop you from finding it."

And with that, he pulled out an Escape Rope and vanished, likely to the Pokmon Centre in town. Oh crap. This was not good. Cerb was going to have to beat this guy to the emblem, if it was even in Escennia - that was still a possibility - because this guy sounded like he meant business. And he probably knew his way around a whole lot better. On top, it sounded like he was almost done looking, too.

She probably had one chance to pick the right tower. The clock, dear Cerb, is ticking.

...aaaah shit.

"Am I allowed to panic now? D:"

If you can do it in under less than a minute.

Cerb very prudently covered Eva's ears before wigging out. Didn't want to mentally scar the baby, after all.

"DEAR MEW I DON'T NEED THIS SHIT NOW I HATE THE PEOPLE OF THIS CITY!"

And DTY8W4E9PRYWFHO too for good measure. Sucking in air and coughing after her little outburst, the teen just glared up at the tower she'd skittered down from, taking her hand of her Buneary. "...eeeeh. Screw that pompous rear end." Turning her head, she looked over at her electric rodent, who was just blinking very rapidly, little bits of static flickering out of his cheeks. "And his stupid Swablu too. We'll stick with our original course for now - those two gate towers. We can probably split up and check both at once."

Of course, this naturally meant there would be one tower unaccounted for, and if the emblem was in that one Cerb would probably throw herself off it. Either that or go track down the freakin' treasure seeker and strangle him. ...probably by making him eat his half of the Dream Emblem.

"I did not come here to compete with some guy in queer boots," the teen grumbled, stalking off down the road somewhat quickly all the same. Sparky chittered from her shoulder, shoving her face this way and that to go down the right streets. It seemed he was getting better at reading the map on the Poketech, at least. "Heck, maybe we should get Tom to find it," Cerb muttered, looking back briefly at the Meowth trotting merrily along with his tail in the air. "He's an Escennian, eh boy?"

"Meow," Tom shrugged, flicking his tail a little. He didn't care much about this emblem or that guy, though his riding boots looked like they'd be fun to sharpen his claws on.

"Pikaaa," Sparky harped, shoving on her head to get her to turn down another street.

So some very much rapid walking later! Gate towers. Two of them.

"I can trust you three to go look in that one over there, right?" Cerb asked, looking at her Pikachu and then the other two on the ground. "It'll be faster that way. G'wan guys, don't let anybody catch you,"

"Pika," Sparky dropped the Poketech in her hand and sprang off her shoulder, darting along the road and towards the tower with Lady and Tom in tow. Cerb started her own scramble, but yelled over her shoulder at them as an afterthought.

"SEND UP A BOLT IF YOU FIND SOMETHING AND BE SURE TO GIVE THAT DUDE HECK IF HE'S THERE!" With that taken care of, she darted into her own tower and headed for the stairs, Poketech having been shoved in her other pocket for now so she could still cradle Eva. If Damien Whatshisface was in her tower, she would be doing him some serious bodily harm with a brick or five. Swablu or no Swablu. :<

...nevermind her Eevee egg was starting to rock ominously. Oooh boy.

The Eevee egg... well, paying attention to its hatching was likely a very important thing, more important than this quest. Maybe. That would have to be determined when the little thing actually started popping out of its shell.

And thusly, in the meantime, the search continued - but at a more frantic pace. Now that there was someone else searching for the emblem (who probably should've kept himself hidden, really), it had to be found and fast before that guy managed to locate it. Crap. Not good. If he got the emblem first and ran off with it... well, that whole thing would've amounted to a whole lot of nothing.

Right then. Dashing through the streets, with a one-minded life goal... through the town we go, screaming in panic all the way! Hey hey hey!

Two towers. Both of them looked almost identical; rather medieval in their design, very much like standard square gate towers, lending credence to the concept that the walls of the city were once further back from where they were in the current day, since it was almost still possible to see the gate mountings between them. Unfortunately, these towers were also ruined; dilapidated, mossed over and cracked buildings, much like the others. These were equally protected by the city, meaning their place here was valued.

And as such, two groups of hunters raced up those towers together, heedless of the concept that there might have been danger...

Perhaps fortunate that there was not. These towers on the inside were a staircase going around the outside wide enough for about one and a half people, plus the occasional small room in the center; assumedly armouries or something for when the city might have had to be defended. While Cerb's tower was completely bare-- there was nothing to be seen there-- the others had slightly different luck.

In the middle room of their tower, the Pokmon encountered... a slight anomaly. In that room there were a few bricks out of place, in a strange order; two or three out of the wall that seemed like they could've been pushed in or pulled out, depending.

Was this the start?

Pantpantpant. Cerb looked bleakly around the room, not seeing anything unusual, but no sign of the treasure dude either. She was slightly disappointed in two aspects - no emblem and nobody to take out an anger management course on.

For Sparky and co, it was a whole 'nother ball game.

The three Pokemon were searching around when Tom found the bricks, oddly arranged amongst all the decay and disarray. The Meowth poked at them with his paw for a second before meowing, bringing Sparky and Lady over. ''cha got?'

'Funny bricks,'

'Whoop de freakin' doo, funny bricks. This whole damn tower is funny. :|'

'...good enough for government work,' Sparky mumbled, looking around at the walls and ceiling, trying to see if he could find a hole to send some electricity out for a signal. Doubtless if his trainer wasn't having any luck, she'd come anyway. He really didn't want to take the risk of damaging the building and alerting someone (like the weird dude) to their presence.

'You guys stay up here and don't touch 'em, I'm gonna go outside,' the electric rat squeaked, darting down the stairs. Tom and Lady exchanged glances and shrugged, sitting on their butts and watching the Pikachu dash off.

'So if the weird dude appears, can we maul him?'

'Sure. I got dibs on his boots,'

--

"I wonder if they haven't had any luck either," Cerb mumbled to herself, trotting back down the stairs to the door when a flash from between the brickwork caught her eye. Looking out through a hole in the wall, she saw Sparky in the road, electricity crackling up in short flashes from his body. "...or not. When did he turn into a good little Pikachu?" Either way, her descent from the stairs became a bit more harried, while still trying not to jostle Eva too much in her arms.

When suddenly.

CRACK.

"...o crap, I think that was the Eevee egg,"

Now all caution was thrown to the winds as the teen ran the fuck down the stairs to get to level ground as quickly as possible, all while the pouch next to her hip was wiggling and rocking and cracking away. Eva squeaked and clung to her shirt fabric with her paws, becoming a little furry rabbittick. "Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap,"

"Pika?" Sparky blinked, halting his little lightshow in the street when he heard something thud against the door to the other tower, and then Cerb came tumbling frantically out and skidding in the road.

"Sparky! omgquick, help me. The Eevee egg is haaaatching!"

"Pika pi!" The Pikachu skittered over, nearly falling over on his back when Eva was thrust at his chest, the Buneary squeaking and flailing in confusion. Sparky chittered and tried to hold her still, rewrapping the blanket around her as he watched Cerb fumble into her hip back and pull out the fractured Eevee egg, bits of wet tan fur sticking out from spots where the shell was broken.

POP! Cerb yelped as the egg suddenly exploded into bits right in her hands, in a direct contrast to Eva's hatching. Fragments of shell went flying all over, as the little Eevee in her hands coughed and shook itself. After a moment of boggling like an idiot, the teen had enough presence of mind to dig out the blanket she'd wrapped the egg in and shake off any loose shards before drying off the Eevee's fur briskly.

"Aw, you're such a cute little bitty thing," she said, smoothing down the poofy fluffy baby fur and wrapping it up in the blanket. "I think I'mma call you Bit."

"Veee!" The floppy ears of the Eevee twitched up once in recognition of the name, before resuming the hungry wailing. "Veeeeeee!"

"Okay okay, easy! Sheesh, you sure sound like a guy," Cerb mumbled, digging in her pocket for the remains of Eva's bottle from a while ago. It was still about half full and somewhat warm from the heat of being in her pocket. The teen stared at it intently as she swished it around before looking over at Eva and Sparky, the former of which had stopped squirming and was staring at Bit. "I dun think she has any germs, so I hope you dun mind sharing. Bottle's up, little guy,"

While Bit was slurping away at the leftover formula, Cerb got up and looked at Sparky, still holding the Buneary and looking like he had rather a full pawful. "Well, ain't this gonna be interesting. I'll take her back when he's done chugging, which shouldn't be too long," she said, shaking her head a little as she got up and started walking towards the other tower. "Lemme know when ya can't manage her anymore."

"Pi," Sparky chittered, toddling awkwardly after his trainer with the Buneary.

Very well. In this section of the tale, there is not much to tell - there were to be no intrusions from other forces, nothing to interrupt the processes of life of which Eva, Cerb and Bit were all participating in, and nothing to attempt to come and attack the guardians of that strange brickwork. This was all good, for it allowed one to examine those bricks at their own pace.

So Cerby and her three-strong entourage climbed the fractured staircase to the very middle of the tower, entering the now-defunct armoury and appraising the walls quickly. With six of them in there, there was little room to move, but that was fine; all that was needed was one person examining the bricks and then acting upon them, which would likely be Cerb herself.

These bricks were... well, they were all complete. None of these ones were broken in this room; it was as if something was protecting them, or it was simply luck for this part of the structure to be intact for it was not subject to the effects of weathering such as rain or excessive sunshine. The one wall in question had six protruding bricks; these bricks were much like modern bricks albeit a dull gray of stone. As the exact pattern of these bricks has been discussed via another medium, the precise details shall not be replicated here.

However, some particulars are necessary. These bricks were exactly halfway out of the wall; they could be either pushed in or pulled out. For sake of convenience in the next note of this tale, we shall assign the bricks numbers; the topmost brick being one, the one below it two, and then the bottom group of four three through six starting with the top and working clockwise in a circle.

Perhaps it was a combination of in or out; perhaps it was all six in or all six out. Who was to know? Only experimentation would provide the key. To allow the next note some distance, up to three patterns in such a span of time can the young lady attempt to create.

So once all settled at the top, Cerb sat down in front of the brickwork with her legs crossed and her two babies nestled in her lap. Eva looked considerably happier back in the company of what she considered her mother, while Bit was yawning and settling down for a snooze. Sparky had plopped down somewhere, tired from running up and down the stairs twice, and once carrying a baby. Augh.

"So, six bricks." The teen tilted her head to the side, chewing on the inside of her cheek in thought. Clearly they had to be pushed in a certain order to make something magical happen. If only she had some clue as to what that pattern was.

So Trial and Error was in order! Oh sheet.

"...these things either look like a smiley face or a six,"

...thank you for that interesting observation.

After a moment of staring at the bricks, Cerb decided she might as well go through the obvious patterns and get them out of the way. So first she shoved in all the odd numbered bricks (1/3/5) and pulled out all the even numbered bricks (2/4/6).

Then she shoved in all the even numbered bricks and pulled out all the odds.

Assuming none of those worked, she chewed on her cheek s'more and eventually pulled out the top two bricks (1/2) and pushed in the bottom four (3/4/5/6).

"...these puzzles suck,"

You're smart, you'll figure it out. :<

Nothing happens after each pattern repetition. But to pad this post out, Cerb had to put her fingernails in to get the bricks out; there was a reasonable gap in the mortar that allowed for flat things to find purchase and be pulled out one by one.

Man. What a sucky quest mod, I apologize.

Yeah, well, prepare for my sucky roleplaying skills. I am seriously not even going to count these as egg posts for now because they're just lame. Or they're going to be, anyway.

Because Cerb keeps shoving bricks. And hurting her fingers messing with them, but oh well. She has a first aid kit.

Yoinking out #s 3/4/5/6 and shoving in #s 1/2.

Then pulling out 2/3/4 and pushing in 1/6/5.

Reverse! Push in 2/3/4 and pull out 1/6/5.

Prepare for a little less than 720 repetitions of this. :<

But hold! The first pattern, young trainer, it has done something!

Once the fourth brick of that pattern was removed, that almost-a-circle that seemed to form out of it... the other two bricks contained within that circle fell out, mortar and all, as if compelled by some unknown force. Oh no - that stonework was really unstable after all. Would that bring down the other bricks about it...?

Wait. No. once those two bricks fell out, there was... something. Something that could be removed from the wall? It was a little bit stuck in there, this thing, but once it was pried free it could be open. It was actually somewhat like a hand mirror, one of the compact ones that most ladies kept in their handbags for adjusting their makeup on the go. This one was a very soft pink, and opened to reveal a single mirror inside that was a perfect circle.

Once it was opened, however... nothing happened for a few seconds, before an image of a tower played itself like a dream into the mind of Cerb, showing her where the emblem was to be located - an abandoned tower. Obviously the final tower, the one that had not thus far been visited. A broken Latinesque tower, one standing alone.

But what if he'd been there already and taken the emblem?

It was a race against time, then - a race for a secret long buried. Run, trainer. Your destiny depends upon it.

Cerb was nursing her sore fingers and contemplating her next pattern when the bricks started falling out of the wall. Squeaking, she brought her legs up a little to protect the two babies in her lap and scooted backwards quickly to avoid mortar and brickwork dropping down on all of them. Tom hissed and Lady growled, both inching backwards towards the far wall. Sparky was still tired and lying there, twitching his tail out of the path of danger.

"...it's a pink thing," leaning over carefully to avoid smushing her babies, Cerb flailed and grabbed it, pulling it back towards her face to examine it. Hunh, looked just like a compac - woah, vision.

"...not another tower, oh Mew, D:" Groaning, she snapped the mirror shut and shoved it into her back pocket, grumbling for a moment while the neurons in her brain fired. Eventually they fired enough for her to realize...orite, last tower she didn't visit. ALL THE WAY OVER THERE.

Gotta beat Damien Buttmunch, ack.

"Time to go! In yer balls, fellas," Cerb said, reaching for her Pokeballs and zapping back Lady and Tom from their hiding place in the corner. "This'll be faster, hopefully... C'mon Sparky, you're navigator again."

"Pika?" The yellow rat blinked, slowly getting up and bounding onto his trainer's shoulder. The teen handed up her Poketech to him before carefully gathering Eva in one arm and Bit in the other and scrambling out the door and down the stairs like a madwoman. I think she's gonna die either from running into something or whiplash.

AND SO BEGINS THE MAD DASH FOR THE LAST TOWER, WOAH.

And so began a most frantic run for the final tower, the one that had not been searched by Cerb. Oh, how the clock was ticking on this one - and if Cerb didn't develop strong arms and legs from all this running and walking, plus the fact she was carrying three Pokmon on her person at once, it was going to be a complete mystery as to why she hadn't.

The city... it was a large thing to be crossing, not to mention it was built on a hill, and it was going to be tiring. Cerb had made a smart move by summoning Lady and Tom back into their storage devices, otherwise they'd be pretty mad at you for all this running around. Ah well. At least there wasn't anything that was trying to stop you, even if you almost knocked down some person.

"Oh, I say!" said the pompous twit. He was a bit of a douche.

The run to the other tower went otherwise without incident, for there was not much to be said about it. Indeed, it was an abandoned Latin-esque tower, as was previously intimated. This place had a few cracks in the walls, and was probably the newest tower out of the lot of them - but it was definitely out of use. No more people, as it were. And now Cerb was going to have to investigate the tower in order to find this Dream Emblem piece.

So. Without further ado, the trainer entered the tower, for I understand your wish to continue faster; and... there was a rather strange effect when one walked close to the walls. Light pink lines started appearing on the walls in crazy patterns of straight lines and open-centred circles! The closer one got to the wall, the more of the pattern could be seen, revealed in a circle around... it seemed... the trainer herself?

The most curious thing was that the lines were in the same colour as the mirror that was previously obtained, and that the patterns all seemed to indicate upwards movement. Could that be the key to this whole thing?

So once Cerb tromped in the tower, she considered collapsing on the floor and dying, but she had three things riding on her and falling down would squish her poor babies, who looked thoroughly confused. That was to be expected, however, as their time of being born was right in the middle of an epic quest.

And...she noticed the walls were glowing pink. Lolwut.

"...did I drink something radioactive?" Cerb promptly looked over herself twice to see if she was glowing or anything like that. Satisfied that she had not turned into a neon pink light, she stepped closer to the wall and quirked a brow as the pattern burned brighter, seeming to run up towards the top of the tower. "Well this is interesting."

She contemplated pulling out the compact from her back pocket, but her arms were full of furry little 'manz and she didn't quite have a third hand sprouting from her behind. Grumbling, Cerb continued to chew on the inside of her cheek for a moment, which had to likely be raw and bloody by now from all the chewing having been enacted upon it. "Uh... hokay. Sparky, you have to go down... and... hm. Damn."

"Pika?" The Pikachu asked, hopping down to ground level and sitting there, looking at the glowing walls and ears twitching nervously. Cerb pondered, tapping her foot on the floor and staring down at the babies in her arms.

"Weeell... Which one of you has better balance here?" The Eevee and Buneary exchanged looks with each other for a second before Eva stood up, wobbling a little on her trainer's arm but otherwise steady. Cerb raised her other eyebrow in quiet approval, nodding a little. "Okay, you're on my shoulder now. Take your blankie if you want it,"

"Bun," Eva wibbled, doing a little bounce up onto Cerb's shoulder and holding onto her ear with one paw and her blanket in the other. The teen twitched a little, but now with one arm free she reached into her back pocket and yanked out the compact mirror, noting the similar shade of pink between the mirror and the wall. On a whim, she waved it around, watching to see if anything magical would happen. Whether it did or not, she started for the stairs, with Sparky trailing slowly behind. Time to follow the magic sparkly pink patterns and see what happened.

Waving the mirror closer to the lines made them burn brighter the closer the mirror got. So that was what was causing this phenomenon - lucky for Cerb she'd checked that other tower, then, huh? Most people wouldn't have ever dreamed of anything like this. Funny... it seemed to be called the Dream Emblem for a very good reason, if only because this whole thing was trippy like a dream.

And so, up the stairs Cerb and her fellows climbed. With Eva and Bit balancing about like crazi, it was evidently clear that this was going to be a long climb. Many of the side-walls were vanished, leaving most of the place to open-air-- as if there wasn't enough of that when the holes in the walls were naturally present in this kind of tower. Eventually, the top of the tower was reached, however, and the air was fresh. A reminder that this journey was almost at an end.

And of course, shining the mirror on the walls here led to one place, one thing, one spot in the wall that magically appeared as if like out of the same dream sequence as the rest; a circle in the wall, full... but the mirror, as it approached, made that circle shrink, coalesce. And once it finally all come together... it formed... an item of the same pink as the rest. It seemed to be a thought bubble, really, but more of a cloud - and it seemed to be broken in half.

This was it. This was the Dream Emblem half that Cerb had been searching for! Reaching out, it was warm to the touch, and one could almost feel the pulsating power that was held within, after all that time running around in search for this object. it was hers. It was hers - the first key to unlocking a mystery left forever unchecked, eternally untamed.

And then... there was the sound of footsteps. A moment later, that one person appeared that really shouldn't have been there. The one dreaded form, with a Swablu on his shoulder, that was the most unwelcome sight.

"Bravo, trainer!" he said, clapping softly as if to mock her. "You've found the lost key. Now since I know you won't be returning it to its rightful owner... I'll simply have to fight you for it. Two on two, no items or switching... that is, if you have the honour to hold to something like that."

And with that, the Swablu surged forward, flapping its wings and floating in front of Damien as he folded his arms. There was no escaping this one, either; he was blocking the stairs. Time to fight, then - this one's important. This is for the sake of that Emblem - I suggest you not lose.

Pantpantpant. Cerb finally wobbled her way up the stairs with Sparky and co., following the pretty pink lines on the walls that her mirror seemed to produce. Following them to the point in the wall, she blinked a few times when she realized...woah, it was a little broken cloud emblem thing.

DREAM EMBLEM AHOY. Or half of it, anyway. Same diff.

"Ahaaaa, found you sucker," Cerb grinned widely, shoving the mirror in her pocket and quickly reaching out to take the emblem, in case it somehow poofed back into the wall to make her flail. Funnily enough, it was warm, which made her wonder exactly how much she was sweating before figuring out it was the emblem and not her generating heat. "...woah. Magical pink space heater thing,"

"Buuuun,"

"Vee?"

"Pikaaa," Sparky warned, twitching his ears at the sound of bootsteps coming up the stairs. Slowly, very slowly, the teen looked over her shoulder and shot the most menacing glare of death ever at dear ol' Damien Buttmunch in the doorway. Oh, this would figure, indeed.

And all the happy feelings of glee go flying out of the room liekwoah. You could almost see 'em divin' out the window. Or walls. Holes in the walls, y'know.

"Hate my life," Cerb mumbled, selecting a spot right next to the most whole chunk of wall she could find, and set Bit down right next to it, still all wrapped up in his blankie. She set Eva down next, the Buneary making little soft noises of curiosity and chewing on the edge of her blanket. "You babies stay here and try not to watch. This prolly ain't gonna be very pretty," she mumbled, patting them both on the heads and standing up, turning around to face her new foe and shoving the Dream Emblem half deep into her pocket. He would have to pry it from her cold dead pants.

CHALLENGER DAMIEN BUTTMUNCH APPEARED.
CHALLENGER DAMIEN BUTTMUNCH SENT OUT SWABLU!

"...ok, seriously now?"

You know I had to do it. >.>

Cerb did a perfect Picard facepalm for a minute before shaking her head and glaring at the Swablu and trainer blocking their path. "Oh, screw you and your freakin' honor," she growled, resisting the urge to make rude hand gestures while her babies were watching. "Practically everybody in this city has no sense of it, bar that nice old man. Sparky, git over there'n mess him up!"

"Pika!" The Pikachu growled and fluffed all his fur up, sparks dancing across the mass of zappy yellow before he crouched and shot off, zipping forwards across the floor to get as close to the Swablu as he could, electricity building up in his fur along the way.

Cerb wisely shaded her eyes and looked somewhere else when the electric rat bounced up with a scream of "PIKACHUUUU!"; a mass of blinding yellow lighting exploding from his fizzing coat for the flying blue birdy thing. Given how close they were to Damien Buttmunch, there was always a possibility he could get shocked too. Sparky certainly didn't care, he was just focusing on discharging as much electricity into that Swablu as he could manage in about thirty seconds.

Angry rat is Angry, yes.

The trainer flinched at Cerb's words, anger flitting across his face in a mixture of effrontery and disrespect in equal parts. Oh, this girl was an upstart little thing... she would need to be taught a lesson, and quickly, because that was how things went in this world. you did not insult your superiors and get away with it freely.

"You... you... impudent little brat!" he spat, looking at his Swablu carefully with rage building up in his eyes. Never in his life had he been so insulted by some little girl...! Gah!

"Take that dirty rat out!"

"Swaaaa~" came the melodic reply from the cotton-winged bird, flapping its wings carefully before the furious Pikachu's growl could be heard. Now that it was obeying Cerb, it was a fearsome battle partner to be had. And indeed it was going to unleash all of its power on some Flying-type... easy pickings, right? Electric versus flying, and all that jazz?

Not so much. If there was one thing a Swablu was good at, it was defending itself against non-physical attacks thanks to the strange nature of its wings. It was to be expected that it had some special power in relation to something, but it just so happened that its dispersive abilities were enough to shrug off a few vestiges of the lightning blast... enough to keep it alive for an attack that could hopefully stop this Pikachu.

And so it did. Moving quickly across the battlefield, it slammed into the Pikachu with a loud sound of its own, enough to astonish the yellow mouse. And then... it began to sing, its hypnotic tones enough to make even the trainers a little drowsy, but worked a fuller effect on Sparky, who was sent promptly to sleep. Oh crap. This wasn't good. It was about to get some free hits in on Sparky unless Cerb had something else she could do to save the Pikachu from that fate.

Oh this was gonna be good.

"How 'bout you get some new insults, grandpa?" Cerb hollered across at him, making faces at the flustered Escennian. "Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries! I could hit a hole 'n one with the golf club you got wedged up there! Are those real boots or are they painted on?!" If there was one thing teenage girls can do better than anyone, it's spew out insults and piss off a guy.

...and meanwhile over there in battle lala land. Sparky hit the ground with a loud snore, fur still fizzing as he rolled along and ended up not too far away from Bit and Eva, who just stared at him with wide terrified eyes, and then over at the Swablu about to pound on poor Uncle Sparky. So, being babies, they drew on the most natural action they could think of.

Wailing their little eyes out.

"BUUUUUUUUUUUUN!"

"VEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

Cerb paused when the torrential crying from the corner fairly drowned out her insults, boggling over at her babies and wondering wtf was making them cry like that. ...and then she saw Sparky in Snoozeville, provided all the noise hadn't woken him back up already. "Hocrap, Sparky," pause. Freeze. Step back and observe. She decided to let her babies cry for now, since the noise they were making could potentially wake the undead, and so hopefully Sparky.

And should Sparky decide to wake up, he'd get up, shake his head to get his bearings, and rip off another Thunderbolt at the birdy. Tadaaa~.

It seemed that everyone was turning away from the sound of two loud, crying babies... but even then the Swablu decided to throw another Astonish in there for good measure, to try and hit this Pikachu before anything happened.

Now, there was one slight problem with that. Combine the sound of two of the loudest little critters you've ever heard crying like crazy with an attack that slammed one's bodyweight into the enemy at reasonably high speeds... and you're going to have an awake Pikachu. Indeed, the three effects put together worked so well that the little babies had done their job and woken Sparky up.

And then there was a flash of thunder, and one Swablu decided to fall from the sky, unconscious, completely defeated by the overpowering energy strike that Sparky chose to unleash upon the world. How neat was that? One opponent defeated, Sparkster. You're doing well, there, and you can learn some stuff from it in the meantime. Specifically that little crying babies are a good counter to sleep... but they'll grow up eventually.

Having been insulted again by the little girl, Damien instead blanched and said nothing, reaching for another Pokball after recalling his Swablu and sending out his good combatant; a Houndour, something rare for these parts of the world. He must've been either extremely rich, had very kind parents, had actually put some work in himself, or a combination of all three. Whatever the case... yes, there it was.

Would this go as easily as the last one had, being over in two hits? I would say not, my dear friends. While Sparky might have been stronger, this Houndour seemed... pretty tough, yeah. So let's see where this battle goes, shall we? Make your move, miss Russ.

"'atta boy, Sparky! You go, babies! Teamwork and love will always win!" Cerb cheered, skittering over to reassure her two crying balls of fluff that Sparky wasn't actually dead or whatever they thought he was. Sniffling and blinking back big emo tears, Bit and Eva watched the Pikachu fry the Swablu and the bird drop down on the floor like a fluffy blue brick. Cerb gently patted both their heads and bit the inside of her cheek, wishing there would have been a nicer way to introduce them to the concept of this world they were going to be living in.

"So now wha - " Blink. Stare. Slap a bitch... but not really. She looked like she wanted to, though. "Oh this just sucks rocks."

This being in reference to the Houndour, obviously. Lacking any sort of water or rock or ground or ghost Pokemon, Cerb needed some new tactics, and she needed them quickly.

"Do the wave and light 'em up, Sparky!"

...or just fall back on old ones very quickly.

"Pi!" The Pikachu ruffled his fur quickly, before a thin blast of electricity pulsed out from his body towards the Houndour. The resulting static made the teen's hair stand on end, and Bit's longer fur crackled softly with leftover energy. The babies were far from being paralyzed, merely absorbing all the excess static from the air into their fur. Cerb was grumbling and pulling at her ponytail, which was trying to stick to the ceiling.

"Remember to keep your distance!" She added as an afterthought, right before Sparky discharged the biggest bolt of yellow thunder she'd ever seen, making long bright streaks flash in front of her retinas and pretty purple spots float in front of her vision. The Pikachu panted, flicking his tail a little as he bounced a little on the tips of his paws, ready to dart and run away from oncoming attacks. Most notably those involving fire or teeth. But mostly fire.

Ah, my young trainer friend, allow me to teach you a lesson of the realm of battle. While it is highly prudent to use a powerful move, such as the immense attack known as Thunder, there is one fact that remains prevalent; a weaker attack in conjunction with a well-placed support move to debilitate the enemy is a more powerful weapon is actually more effective in the end, for the enemy is either weaker to the strike or is hitting you softer than it would have before.

Such options... perhaps were not available to Sparky at this point, despite the Pikachu family's natural bent towards support moves, but it is a very valuable lesson to be learned.

As such, the bolt of gigantic lightning and thunder crackled around after the first bolt that struck. Ions floating around the sky caused even dark storm clouds to form over this battlefield, but there was not quite the threat of rain just yet. Would it have helped the cause? Maybe. But that bolt came down furiously, and the lesson of power rang clear - the Houndour was knocked down, but managed to scramble itself back upwards as the twinges of nerve loss were fought bravely... despite it being a losing battle.

But as it got back onto its feet, flames began to lick around inside the mouth of the more powerful Houndour. Now the truth of not needing an overpowered move to seize victory was going to be proven true on the slightly-injured Sparky. Despite the paralysis that wracked its body, it was going to fight. And the powerful flames of the Houndour lashed out in a single stream, engulfing Sparky and causing him to smoulder as he was knocked clean out by the heat and the burns across his body.

Perhaps the younglings would cry again as their beloved Uncle Sparky fell to the floor in defeat, burned, as the pup howled its triumph and its owner smirked gleefully.

But speaking of your young, dear trainer... Not only do you have to manage this battle and your injured Pikachu, but it is perhaps time to meet your next ally on this long journey through Opaddeka...

"Ah, crap,"

CRACK.

"...craaaap,"

Cerb quickly fumbled for Sparky's Pokeball with one hand and withdrew him before he had much of a chance to hit the floor, or her babies to see him. The other was flailing for her remaining egg pouch and that darn Gible egg that'd taken forever and a day to hatch. But seriously, now?!

"FML," the teen grumbled, when something chomped on her through the pouch. "OW!"

"GIB GIB GIB." A pair of tiny blue claws forced the top of the pack open, a rounded snout full of sharp little baby teeth poking out along with it. The little land shark blinked confusedly at Cerb, chomping his jaws a bit and looking around. The heck kinda place had he come into the world. "Gib?"

"Agshjfsdfsuygs," Looking between the Houndour out there and the baby Gible now trying to climb out of the pouch on her hip, Cerb made a snap decision and tossed one of the Pokeballs from her belt. "Give 'em heck, I need to deal with this thing here. Owowow, no biting,"

"Meow," Tom sniffed, fluffing his fur up disdainfully. Oh look, a puppy. With the air of one who clearly knew what he was doing, a welcome change in this scene, the Meowth tilted his head and studied the dog for a moment, noting the paralysis ripping through his limbs before he darted forward, zipping up in front of the Houndour's nose and smacking his paws together.

At the same time, a dark aura seemed to exude from his fur, cloaking the immediate area around the dog in darkness. Tom vanished temporarily from view, before the slashing started, claws flashing dimly in the makeshift night. The Meowth was going for vital areas, namely the throat and legs, using his keen kitty eyes to zero in on his targets in the dark.

Meanwhile, Over There.

"...so how do I tell if it's a guy or a girl?" Cerb was trying to figure out the gender of her new Gible. He did not appreciate being hoisted into the air for a Look. Flailing, the little shark Pokemon wiggled free from her grasp and dropped to the floor, rolling over and chomping his jaws.

"Gib! Gibgib!" He gurgled, pointing at the fin on his back with a notch in it. The teen blinked blankly before opening up her Pokedex and flipping through it.

"...oooh. So you are a guy," The Gible nodded furiously, puffing himself up a bit and ruffling his tiny scales. Didn't this person know how to treat a poor baby lizard? After a quick glance around, the blue shark thing noticed that everything in the immediate area was Furry. Cerb noticed his look and shrugged helplessly, patting the Gible on the head. "Sorry. You're my first dragon - lizard thing. Don't you feel special?"

"Gib." After another look around, the Gible plonked on the edge of Eva's blanket and stared at the Buneary, who stared back a moment, nose twitching. Cerb watched them a moment, before the thought occured to her that the shark's look might be more predatory than curious. Hungry babies are hungry! So she dove into her backpack, looking for the remains of that bag of beef jerky from Brightopolis. King had devoured most of it, but she still had some left, which she victoriously yoinked from her backpack and shook out the crinkled bag.

"Hey, don't eat your fellow babies. I has meat here?" The Gible whipped around and fell on his butt, still gaping his jaws open anyway and making excited gurgling noises. Fooood! Cerb chuckled a bit and dropped some jerky into his mouth, which he started nomming on with a vengeance. "You're a bitey little thing. I think I'm gonna call you Richter,"

"Gib," the shark ruffled his fin once in recognition of his name, before curling up on his corner of Eva's blanket and chewing away at more jerky from the bag. Satisfied that her babies weren't going to eat each other or whatever, Cerb turned her attention back to Tom and whether he was dead or not. She hoped he wasn't dead. D:

Damien, upon seeing the egg begin to hatch, stared in wonder at the thing that was coming out of it. A Gible! Those were rather rare indeed, being one of the rather extremely hard-to-get Dragon-type Pokmon that he was rather sure could not be found in the wild. That was incredible. A Gible! What a lucky girl...

Oh, why did she have to get all the luck, while he was reduced to having to fight her for this Emblem? By Lugia. This was not going well. Even the battle itself seemed to be riddled with myriad problems that he was going to have to overcome... somehow. Her second choice was a Meowth, and that Meowth was doing rather well against the Houndour. If he lost, all his work, all his training and searching, his preparations...

And so we shall describe the battle as it plays out.

It wasn't particularly long. Tom's first technique was actually the clincher, if anything; faking out the Houndour to prevent it attacking was a key technique that, without any shadow of a doubt, allowed Tom to survive through the battle. The shock from being beaned on the nose, and the paralysis running through him, prevented the Houndour from moving, so unable to attack was it.

And then the claws started flying, unable to track the speeding Meowth as it aimed for the most vital areas of the pup with blue-glowing claws. Two claws lashed through its neck, and the rest over the legs, and that in itself, combined with the shock of the attack, was enough to send the Houndour down.

Two enemies defeated by Cerb - and the end of the battle, it signalled.

Damien was absolutely speechless. He'd lost. It had been all for nothing. With a sullen look on his face, but quiet resignation to the fate that Cerb had dished out to him, he recalled the Houndour that was thusly defeated and stood aside. She'd won, and it was now her right to leave with the emblem, losing on the terms that he had dictated himself. He had lost two, her one... and so, the better trainer now walked free, victorious.

There were no words that could be said at this point. They would be wasted and futile, regardless. Damien didn't even bother looking up at the trainer that was tending to three young at once, in the middle of a battle. Perhaps now her search was over, she could tend to them in a better place. Whatever. It was no longer his concern, whatever happened to this roving little girl.

With the Dream Emblem half in hand and the rest of her journey ahead of her, Cerb was free to do whatever she wished now - perhaps she'd begin devising a means to go and locate the second half of that Emblem and then work on acquiring Mew. Her destiny awaited... but if that destiny involved Mew, one shall see.

Cerb blinked a moment, boggling as the Houndour went down. Well, she hadn't seen that coming. She'd at least expected Tom to get smacked around some, but...still. Dang.

The Meowth chuckled softly to himself, shaking black fur off his claws and retracting them into his paws. Flicking his tail haughtily at Damien, Tom padded back to Cerb and sat down, looking boredly up at her in a 'was that all?' way. The teen looked down at him and whistled a little, shaking her head. "You, sir, are darn scary."

"Meow," the cat sniffed, wrinkling his nose. Still shaking her head, Cerb went to tend to her babies, who were making happy squeaking noises and waving their paws at Tom. Richter, however, was chewing on the plastic jerky bag, since the jerky itself was now gone.

"Dooon't eat that, you won't digest it," the teen chided, jerking it from his jaws and shoving it into her backpack. The Gible growled, rolling off the blanket and flailing back up onto his legs when Cerb gathered up Eva and her blankie and deposited them on her shoulder, with the Buneary automatically clinging to her ear. Next she picked up Bit, still all snuggled into his blanket coocoon, and then looked down at Richter, who blinked back up. "I'd carry you too, but you look pretty developed for a little baby. Unless you wanna be carried,"

"Gib," the little land shark waddled his way across the floor towards the stairs, with Tom padding slowly after and giving the shiny riding boots a predatory look along the way. With her babies in arm and shoulder, Cerb walked briskly after, not giving her former opposition another look. She would probably be reduced to gloating or kicking him somewhere painful if she did.

--

A very long walk back to the Pokemon Center later.

"Pika?" Sparky looked around confusedly as he was released from his ball, blinking at the shiny clean tile and bright lights of the Center. Last thing he remembered was drafty old towers and pain and fire. Lots of fire.

"Surprise surprise, eh?" Lying on her side on the bench next to the Pikachu, Cerb chuckled down at him and his confusion. "That's right, we're back in civilization now. Nice civilization, too,"

"Pikapi!" Sparky chittered, twitching his ears with memory. He didn't know how the fight had ended, came the sudden realization. Did they wiiiin?

"Relax, Sparky." Digging into her pocket, Cerb pulled out the tiny pink emblem half, still warm and pulsing with power. "See? It's right here."

"Piii." Tail wagging a little, the Pikachu sniffed at the emblem before his trainer stuffed it back in her pocket, turning his head to look around at the other Pokemon sprawled about. Bit and Eva were snuggled up against Cerb's side in their blankets, both taking naps at the moment. Even though they hadn't participated in all the excitement, it had still somehow worn them out. Richter was sprawled out on her legs, looking like he wanted to nom on the juicy jean fabric but refraining from doing so. Lady was moodily lying under the bench as usual, and Tom was lying on the floor beside it, looking extrordinarily smug. "Pika?"

"Yep, he got the knockout," Cerb mumbled, noticing Sparky staring at Tom, the Meowth just smirking broadly. "Sorry Sparks."

"Pi." Shrugging, Sparky curled up in a ball and flopped on the ground, yawning. Well, at least he'd killed something, which was good enough for him. The whole group in general looked to be settling down for a much - needed nap, or at least Cerb really needed it. Hey, she'd been running all over the city for the past few hours.

SO SUDDENLY.

The door to the Center opened. It opened because there was SUDDENLY a critter standing in the doorway, its lithe form silhouetted in the sunlight behind it. Its ears twitched, the pronged tail flicked, and she prowled inside.

...riiiiight over to Cerby. The Espeon had her ears flicked back against her skull, the gem on her head glimmering. Zelda stopped right in front of Cerby, looking over her, her Pokemon, and especially the little fluffball of Eevee there.

Epic Mental Critique Teimz!

And outside: "Zelda, where'd you goooo? D:"

Sparky opened one eye when the Center door whooshed open, noting there was an Espeon standing there.

And it was coming right towards them. Wait, what? The Pikachu uncurled from his ball and stood up, taking a step to the side as the purple thing waltzed right past him and started staaaring at his trainer.

Lady growled moodily from under the bench, wrinkling her snout at the Espeon. Ew, a psychic. Not much it could do to touch her, though. The Poochyena slunk down to the other end of the bench and curled up underneath it, still grumbling and growling and all that angsty dog stuff.

Tom didn't seem to care that there was an Espeon there, casting a bored eye over her and then going back to his catnap. So it was up to Sparky to alert his trainer to her sudden doom or whatever the heck was about to happen next. "Pika!"

"Whaaat?" Cerb blearily opened an eye, only to see an Espeon right there in front of her face. Insert epic screamz here.

"OMG WHAT IS IT WHAT DOES IT WANT WHERE DID IT COME FROM PERSONAL SPACE PLZ!"

Sparky facepawed, twitching his tail. "Piiiikapi,"

"Vee?"

"Bun?"

The two babies looked around for their warm bunker of flesh that suddenly seemed to have moved, yawning and stretching in the process. Eva blinked at Zelda before dismissing her and toddling over the bench to Cerb, who was pressed up against the wall and still frozen in a state of shock. The Buneary chittered, dragging her blanket over to wrap it around herself and snuggle back against the trainer's side to continue her snooze.

"Vee," Bit twitched his ears, tilting his head to the side and staring curiously at Zelda. He could instinctively tell it was another Eevee thing like himself, though there was no way of knowing that this was his mommy in front of him.

Her pinned back ears luckily blocked out the screaming sound as she studied the hyooman, eyes gleaming eerily. Staaaaare. The tiny noise of the little Eevee made her divert her attention completely onto the little furry thing. Her expression softened from Evil immediately.

Hello, she said to him, leaning forward to sniff at the little one and make sure he was alright and everything. :K

At that moment, Steely flopped into the center after running around in circles looking for Zelda. Oh look, there she was. D8

Cerb was still squeaking and flailing near the wall, because she had the feeling of something raping her brain, and the Espeon was glaaaaring at her. Until it started paying attention to Bit, that is.

"Vee?" Bit sat up a bit in his blanket and sniffed noses with Zelda, ears twitching back and forth. "Vee,"

"What in the heck," Cerb blinked and jumped when suddenly someone came barging into the Pokemon Center, banging her back against the wall and nearly dislodging Richter from her leg, if it wasn't for the fact that the Gible was stubbornly deathgripping on her jeans with his claws. Gently moving Eva out of the way enough that she could flop on her side and not squish the Buneary, Cerb hugged one arm around her other baby and looked over at the doorway. O hey, that looked like Steely. "It's Steely,"

I just said this. :<

"Never did thank her for that Eevee egg," Paaaaaause. Now was another good opportunity to boggle at Zelda the Espeon, being very familiar with her little baby Bit. "Oholycrap, you're his mommy,"

"Vee? Vee?" Bit looked back and forth between Cerb and Zelda, swishing his ears around confusedly. Mommy? Which mommy? He already had a mommy. D: Species confused Eevees are confused.

Took you long enough, she flicked her ears at Cerby when she Finally Realized it, flicking her eyes up to blink at her, then look down at Bit. Well, he looked alright. Just hatched it looked like. And raping the trainer's brain a few times hadn't dug up anything bad, so... hmph. It wasn't like she had time for kids anymore anyways.

Over There, Steely managed to scrape herself up off of the floor and notice who Zelda was intently staring at. Blink. Realization!

"Heeeey you," she clomped over, grinning. Zelda reached a paw out and gently stroked Bit's head with it, which Steely blinked at with interest. "There he is, ey?"

"Well excuse me, princess," Cerb muttered, making a face at Zelda. How was she to know the Eevee mother had evolved since being caught? "Since you were so nice as to give me an introduction and all, you know,"

"Veeee," Bit purred and rubbed his head against Zelda's paw, generally playing the part of a happy baby and all that even though he was still mildly confused about his parentage and all that. But this Espeon was being nice to him, so he was content with the pettings and all that.

"Yo," Cerb waved with part of her hand, tucking her other arm under her front so she could lay on it and not have her neck bent at such an extreme angle. Eva was still snuggling into her shoulder, so it was slightly hard to see things directly to her side. "Yep, that's him. He hatched a couple hours ago, actually." Gesturing to Eva napping near her head and wiggling the leg that Richter was latching onto, she shrugged. "They all did. And it was right bothersome, too."

She sniffed and flicked an ear at Cerby, as if she was trying to say that brainrape was imminent if she didn't stop being a sass. >: She was spending time with her baby to make sure he was alright.

Steely leaned against the wall with her shoulder, staring down at the lot of them. Bunny, Eevee, and a little shark. Huh. "I just hatched one of those a few days ago, actually. Bitey little girl," she commented the last part under her breath with a mumble. She took in all of her Pokemon, and smirked faintly.

"You look like you've been busy,"

Well duh.

Bleeeeh at Zelda. No time for kids anymore, indeed.

"What, the Gible? All these guys hatched today, so you gotta be specific." Cerb shook her leg again, and Richter gurgled, digging his claws into her pants and clawing his way up to her hip, where he blinked at Steely with a big shark grin. "I think they're all bitey. He almost ate my fingers and Eva when he hatched. D:"

"Gib gib gib!"

"And you're so proud of it too, I know." Rolling her eyes, Cerb flailed a hand back to pat the Gible on the head, fingers barely missing his open mouth in the process. Returning her arm back to hugging Eva, the teen snorted a little. "I have been incredibly busy like you would not believe. Runnin' all over this city lookin' for a - " Pause. Make sure nobody else nearby was listening anyway. " - thing, combatting the forces of stuffy Escennian treasure hunters after my liver. :< I cannot wait to leave this freakin' city,"

"The Gible is the only thing of the three that's bitey, so yeah," she seemed annoyed for a second and sighed, closing her eyes and being Deep In Thought while she listened. I smell smoke. >:

"Yeah. I can relate to hating a city..." she thought back to Love Land, again looking annoyed. Back to Deep Thought for a second. "So where ya headed next?" she asked after a second. Hell, she didn't know where she was headed next... besides back to that stupid city in the jungle. Not that she was gonna stay for long, but still.

Zelda continued making sure her little furball child was happy and healthy and that this woman could be trusted with this Great Task.

I decided that I'm not gonna do the Machoke trade now. Soyeah. xD

If you smell smoke, why ain't the fire alarm goin' off? :<

"He could be Not Bitey and let go of my pants," Shakeshakeshake. Richter gurgled a watery growl, feeling the bit of her hip he was sitting on flail around. Like riding a roller coaster or some very uncomfortable water bed. Cerb blinked at him for a moment, shaking her head. "I guess I just don't understand lizards."

"Giiiib," the Gible grinned his best adorable baby shark grin, wagging his stubby little tail. Whee annoying trainers and being cute. Eva made a face at him from over Cerb's shoulder, sticking out her tongue and everything. Bleh, lizard annoying her mommy!

"Play nice now, children," Cerb mumbled, patting the clingy Buneary and feeling something like a jungle gym for toddlers. While Eva was snuggling into her neck and Richter was nosing around her pockets with his paws, the teen considered the question posed to her. "Uh. Well, I was gonna be heading along the beach towards that island before I got sidetracked, so... Kevin Baconville, I guess. I wanna hit their mall and stuff, maybe get a stone for King and Sparky."

The Pikachu on the floor twitched his ears and looked up, blinking. Evolution stone? Nice gesture, but he liked being a Pikachu, kthnx. There was no way for her to know that now, though. Maybe while they were in the mall he'd bash some sense into her tiny little brain. Or maybe just break her glasses.

Bit was over there squeeing and generally being a Happy Cute Baby, still. Eventually Zelda is prolly gonna have to explain to him where babies come from, because he sure ain't human, but oh well. If he wasn't happy and healthy Cerb would eat a hat. :<

"I also wanna rape hot guys on the beach too. >.> Bwahaha,"

"Give it time, you might," she said offhandedly, shrugging one shoulder since the other was what was keeping her from falling over. She opened her eyes a little and watched while Cerby spoke, recognition sparking in her mind. "The island with the volcano? That's where I'm headed back to, actually,"

Zelda twitched her ear back at the bitter note in Steely's voice, but she shrugged the Espeon off. "Howabout we meet up in Tromante and explore around a bit? I want to visit the other two cities on the island as soon as possible, so I won't be doing much looking around..." Deep Thought again. Man. D:

Snap. "Well, either way, I'm sure we'll find you again. With Zelda here being obsessive,"

I am not being obsessive.

"If you say so," she finally opened her eyes the rest of the way and limped over to stand next to her, leaning down to see Bit too. "Happy now?"

I suppose. she stared at Cerby as if to suggest that if she didn't stay happy, that there'd be hell to pay. Lots and lots of hell.

"Alright then. We'll see ya again soon, Cerby," Steely smirked just a little bit as she reached down and set her hand on Zelda's back. And POIT, like that, they had disappeared.

"Oh, I hope." Pause. "Richter, you stay outta there," The Gible chittered, his paw stuck in the pocket where the Dream Emblem half was stored, trying to prize the pink thing out. Cerb gave him a look and Richter slowly withdrew his paw, looking like the kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

"Yeah, that volcano - island - place - thing. The fiery place," the teen nodded, quirking her head to the side. Tromante? Must be the name of a town on that island...Corona Island? Was that it? This means it's time to study the map again, oyes. "Uh. Tromante, sure. ...once I figure out where the hell that is,"

Everyone did a collective blink when Steely and Zelda just...loldisappeared. Cerb boggled for a moment, reaching out one hand to flail it in the spot where Steely had been standing. "Now how the crap did she do that? ...omigosh, she must be MAGIC," Obviously. Magic is the answer to everything. While Cerb was flailing up there babbling about magic with her babies, Sparky and his other fourlegged compatriots all slowly trotted over to sniff the spot, wrinkling her noses at it. Lady in particular looked like she swallowed something nasty, sticking her tongue out and curling up her lips to show her fangs. The stink of Holy Mechanisms'll do that to ya. >.>

"...so, uh. I guess we'll be leaving this place now," the teen mumbled finally, once she got her wits back. Picking up Eva and Bit, she sat up and plopped them both on her lap, before staring at Richter still attached to her hip. "You can let go'a that now, y'know,"

"Gib!" Richter let go and toppled onto his side, rolling over a few times with his round lizard body. Cerb poked him back upright with a finger, before getting down to some unfinished Business.

"So, I has some things to hand out quick," she muttered, shrugging off her backpack and digging around in it for her TM case, then yanking that out and rifling through it. There weren't many TMs in there, so it didn't take her long to find what she wanted. "I got this with your hatching in mind," she told Bit, lifting out a disk glowing bright, ghostly purple and displaying it to the little Eevee. "Something tells me your mommy knows this already, too, so it's only fair to carry on the tradition, eh?"

"Vee?" Bit blinked, looking at the disk before hesitantly leaning forward to sniff it. When his nose touched it, all the purple shadow aura promptly whooshed out and condensed into his body, the disk breaking in half in Cerb's hand. The trainer tsk'd and set it aside to throw out later, instead watching Bit flail around trying to figure out wtf just happened. "Vee! Veeeee!"

"Calm down buddy, 's okay. It's just a Shadow Ball TM," Cerb chuckled, stroking the quivering Eevee to get him to stop freaking out. "Go on, try it out." Bit blinked up at her before he opened his mouth, dark particles gathering into a sphere that he spat out over Lady's head. The Poochyena snarled and darted away, tail between her legs. Cerb laughed, patting Bit again. "Not bad! Not bad for your first one. We'll make it better," she promised, ruffling his fur and then digging for another TM from the case.

Eventually, after staring at the two blue disks and blinking, she selected the correct one, checking the label to make sure it was, in fact, Rain Dance. "This one's for you, Sparky," she said, grinning at the Pikachu's boggling look. "It'll improve the potency of your Thunder. And no, I'm not completely off my nut. It's Rain Dance," she said, leaning over and holding down the disk for his inspection.

"Pikapi," Sparky flicked his ears a few times and toddled over to grab the disk in his paws, sucking the blue aura out of the TM. It shattered in half in his paws, and the Pikachu handed both pieces up to his trainer. "Pika,"

"We can actually try that out as we leave, because I'm still miffed at these buggers," Cerb said softly, looking around to make sure no one was listening. "As for the rest of you, I'll try to get you all something nice as soon as I can get my hands on the TMs, 'kay? And now, I think we should leave." Settling Eva up on her shoulder, Cerb held onto Bit and stood up to take a step forward when something latched onto the back of her leg. Looking down, she noted Richter deathgripping on her pants with his claws like some sort of deranged gecko. "Hello to you too,"

"Gib gib!"

"Right, so. Better listen babies, because now you're going to get The Talk," Heading out the Center doors, Cerb trotted down the street with her other Pokemon following. Sparky came last, trailing a little distance behind because he was bouncing all over the road in complicated patterns, blue mist floating from his paws up into the sky as clouds gathered overhead.

"The Talk consists of Where Babies Come From..."

Doing lastminute chores before I leave.
