(( Note: Hershlin is replacing Yang and Oregano's pok'eballs that they were caught in with Luxury Balls, as a way of rewarding them for the stuff they had to go through back in the center. Number of posts fire egg needs to hatch: 12.)) Hershlin, Lucas, and their group of pok'emon - including the still-stalkerish Sentret- all beat a rather hasty retreat from the pok'emon center, not exactly wishing to stick around after the local nurse who served there had been kind enough to 'distract' the ladies that had been drooling all over their cute pok'emon by saying there was a big sale on with 50% off in the pok'emart: but in reality, that said sale had been a week ago, and neither of the two trainers were too keen to stay in the center and see what would happen when the group of girls came back: rather angry at being tricked - as the saying often went, 'Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned'. Lucas let out a big sigh of relief once the group were a reasonable distance away from the center, saying, "Geez...that was something I don't really want to repeat in a hurry, Hershy..." Hershlin said, "Indeed...Oregano and Yang didn't enjoy it too much, either. Pandora and Kiyo seemed to have an opposite view on the whole agenda though..mainly because they are still young and all." The gentleman nodded, before turning to Oregano and Yang, saying, "I did say i'd make it up to the both of you for having to go through all that~ and i'll keep my promise. Not only can you have some human food- i'm going to give you new pok'eballs to stay in, that will be a lot more comfortable." Hershlin pulled out two Luxury Balls, saying, "These should be a lot mroe comfortable than the old pok'eballs you two used to stay in..but if I replace the two pok'eballs you two used to stay in with these ones, I can't use those pok'eballs again. They'll be broken...do you mind that?" Oregano and Yang both shook their heads- those black and golden pok'eballs even looked comfortable on the outside, so they didn't mind if they had to give up their old dodgy pok'eballs for more comfortable ones such as those..as Hershlin went about doing this, he also gave Yang the sandwhich he'd promsied to give him, the pup making short work indeed of the foodstuff, seeing as how much he liked them and all. Psyduck blinked- wondering just HOW any pok'emon could eat food that fast and not get indigestion. Had Yang been a Likitung or a Munchlax in a previous life, perhaps? . . .No. That was a rather silly idea. Hershlin soon finished the job of replacing Oregano and Yang's normal pok'eballs with Luxury Balls, rendering their old balls usless: which he put away in his pockets for now...he'd throw them out later, since they were no longer of any usage. Lucas grinned, saying, "Awesome...so...uh...whatta we do now?" Hershlin smiled at his friend, syaing, "Don't you remember? We were going to check in that observatory here, to see if we can find my old friend Gastly...the one who saved my life when I was just a lad, remember? So we could at least have the courtesy of thanking him properly for his kind actions.." Pandora giggled in her high-pitched manner as Hershlin finished his sentance. Meeting this Gastly sounded like fun, especially since most ghosts tended to be playful...maybe the ghost might even decide to play a game with her! Kiyo laughed at the same time as the Spheal, at which Lucas laughed at, shaking his head slightly before saying, "Oh...I remember now. But...what makes you think he'll be in that observatory?" Hershlin said, "Well, since lots of people would no doubt come to that place at night to look at the stars through the telescope, any ghost would see it as a prime spot for a bit of playful pranking or haunting, no? Therefore, this would bea good place to start looking - and even if my old friend is not there, we can still observe the stars. That would be simply lovely, would it not?" Psyduck nodded in agreement with this - he'd only gotten to see the stars as little pinpoints of light from his old home at the bottom of the ocean, and seeing them up close on land sounded like it would be terribly exciting, even if the ghost Hershlin was looking for was not there. Lucas suddenly spoke up again, saying a bit nervously, "Are...are you SURE your friend Gastly is...is a boy? I don't want to have something simmilar to that center incident happen again!" Hershlin said, "Yes, I am quite certain...although my father's old trainer liscence was ripped up, I did make SOME things out: and ti had a list of his entire team and what genders they were. Gastly was written as a male there, so unless part of that sentance was worn out over time and originally said Gastly is in fact, a female, I am very sure on what I know." Lucas said, "Alright then...but if Gastly starts tryin' to kiss you or something, it'll be REALLY awkward, to say the least!" Hershlin shook his head, chuckling at his friend's childish words as they got closer to the obsevatory. Hershlin paused a moment, before pushing the doors open, at which both his and Psyduck's eyes shone with awe and appreciation - the room had the most inricate and wonderous interior designing! A starry wallpaper that looked as if it was almost real, and statues of start signs, such as Cancer the Krabby about the place...it had an almost mystic aura about it. Lucas's mouth dropped, he saying, "Whoooa....this place is amazing! I wonder who built it?" Hershlins aid, "I do not know - but if I ever met the person who built this place, I would congratulate them heartily on a job VERY well done." Hershlin smiled, admiring the surroundings a moment more, before stepping inside, Lucas and the group of pok'emon following suit. As Hershlin got inside properly, he shut the door gently behind him, before calling out, "Gastly? old friend...are you there? Hello?" Hopefully, Hershlin's old friend would be here...and hopefully, it'd come out upon hearing Hershlin's voice.. |

I am so sorry, but I sorta forgot about this. xD I'm here now. +1 for Yang and Oregano for the awesome new Pokeballs they're in. The observatory was quiet and beautiful, regal and having a feeling of power. Despite it being just, you know, an observatory. And despite the mystic feeling, nothing happened at first. The wind whistled softly, your skin prickled... and nothing continued to happen. "Hello?" out of a side door, a scientist looking fellow stepped out. The typical long white lab coat, spectacles, but he was a little younger then the cliche, expected sort of thing. He wasn't a young kid though, either. Scruffy brown hair and bright blue eyes. He blinked at the pair and the Pokemon. "Can I help you guys?" |

(( = .2 Hey, that's okay. Iv'e been unable to get on because of all the fires in Aussie lately, so i'm just pleased to even be able to get on!Number of posts fire egg needs to hatch: 11.)) Hershlin waited paitently with his pok'emon and Lucas after having called out for his compainon Gastly, hoping against hope that his old compainon would be there ~ but as the seconds waiting turned to minutes, and the minutes all added up to quite a long time standing around indeed, it seemed as if Gastly was not here, despite this place seeming like the prime area for ghost-types to hang around and all. There were no wild pok'emon here at all, as a matter of fact - the place was as silent as the stars in that regard. Lucas piped up after a while, saying, "I guess there's nobody here, Hershy...maybe we should look somewhere else?" Hershlin hummed thoughtfully, saying, "I felt so sure my old friend would be here, my boy - but we cannot simply turn back now. We only just got here. Maybe there is something we have to do to coax my good friend out of hiding..I do not know." Hershlin folded his arms then, falling silent as he mused on the matter. Lucas looked to Kiyo - his Wynaut- before saying to the pok'emon, "Maybe this place has some kinda special thingy about it that doesn't allow wild pok'emon in...? Like a repel, or maybe a...!" Lucas's words suddenly trailed off as he saw a looming shadow approach him from a side door. Because Lucas didn't see right away whom the shadow belonged to, he jumped: and shouted in a startled manner, "Waaaah!" Hershlin swiftly turned around to see if it had been Gastly that had startled Lucas - but no. It was a man, fairly younger than Hershlin himself- wearing some attire that made him look like he studied science. Lucas blinked at realising the shadow was nothing to fear, and stepped back away from the unfammilar man embarresedly, mumbling, "S-sorry...you kinda startled me, mister. I thought you were a ghost for a moment there.." The young man didn't seem to be too fazed, and asked if he could help the group. Hershlin said, "You might indeed be able to assist us...you see, I and Lucas are looking for an old friend of mine...a Gastly. Knowing this town has the highest count of ghost and dark-types anywhere, I thought it would be the best place to start looking, naturally. But - do ghost types appear in this obseravtory all that often?" The gentleman paused a while, his pok'emon and the Sentret watching on from the sides, before he spoke up again a few moments later, saying, "And also ~ this place is a divine design, I must say. Do you know who designed it? I must say...it has quite a mystical, other-worldy feel about it, don't you agree Lucas?" Lucas said, nodding in agrrement with his compainon's words as he spoke up, "Yeah...it's awesome! I bet a lot of people would come here." |

.2 (Eep. Fires not good...good luck with those.) Wynaut was oddly silent as Lucas spoke to him, as if his concetration was focused elsewhere. He squeaked as well, though when the young man popped up out of seemingly nowhere. The guy smiled, and considered. "Grandpa designed the place. It is lovely...my favorite place in the world. He wanted it to harmonize with nature, not go against it, he always said..." The fellow defalted rather abruptly, and sighed. "Though nobody seems to like coming here these days...you're the first person in a while to come out this way. It's odd...this place used to be so popular..." There was a wistful tone to the young man's voice. "People used to come out here to look at the stars al the time. Finest telescope in Opadekka..." He shook his head after a moment. "But, that's not your problem. Name's Damian." He held a hand out politely as he introduced himself. "As to ghosts...Malral does have a higher than usual number of them...and occasionally one would come out here to visit...but I haven't seen any of them of late either." He sighed. "It's like there's something disturbing about this place that's keeping people away..." How odd. There was something odd going on here...but as Damian said, it really wasn't your problem. Was it? "Sorry I couldn't help more, but there it is. Malral does have the highest concentration of ghost types, aside from possibly Felcrest, what with the cemetary there. I hope you find your friend eventually..." He hesitated a moment, then added, almost hesitantly, "Though, while you're here, I could show you around...?" Sounds almost hopeful, that... ~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you decide to investigate the matter, consider yourself storylined. But you don't have to investigate if you don't want to. |

(( = .3 Yeah, i'll be careful.Number of posts fire egg needs to hatch: 10.)) As Hershlin finished speaking to the young man on why he had come here with Lucas, and complimenting him on a wonderful design on the area - Lucas looked to Kiyo, having noticed that his friend had been oddly silent before they had been startled by the man, asking the little Wynaut, "Hey buddy...what's the matter? It's not like you to look so serious.." Hershlin peered over to the two curiously, before commentating, "Hmmm...psychic-types such as Kiyo and Psyduck here have what you'd call a 'sixth sense' about things...about strong pok'emon, or trouble. Thre might be more here thanmeets the eye, my boy.." Hershlin turned to his Psyduck compainon, seeing as all his pok'emon were out right now, and asked, "My friend...out of curiosity, do you...sense something amiss here, pehraps...?" As Hershlin awaited an answer from his friend, the young man spoke up, diverting the gentleman's attention for now as the scientistly-dressed man explained with a small smile that his grandfather had designed the place. It was his favourite place in the world...and his grandfather had built to harmonize with nature, and not go against it. The fellow then seemed to change expressions rather swiftly to a rather saddened one, sighing before continuing on, stating that nobody liked to come here these days...Lucas and Hershlin had been the first folks in a while to come out this way. The young man thought this very odd, as the place used to be so popular - apparently, folks used to come out here to look at the stars all the time, seeing as the telescope here was the best built in the whole reigon..Hershlin folded his arms thoughtfully, saying, "But...if this place is so wonderful...why on earth would folks stop visiting it? I suspect that Kiyo's reaction before...it may have something to do with what exactly may be driving everyone away, wether this thing knows what it is doing or not...hmmm..." Lucas shivered, saying, "It could be something really nasty...I don't want Kiyo...or you to get hurt, Hershy!" Hershlin seemed in thought now, closing his eyes as he always did when thinking at great length about something..though he opened his eyes again as the man introduced himself as Damian, holding out a hand. Hershlin took the young man's hand and shook it courtesly, saying, "I am Hershlin, and this here is my good friend Lucas. Pleased to make your aquaintince." Damian then spoke out again as Hershlin let go of his hand, saying that Malral did have a higher than usual number of ghosts, and occasionly one would come out here to visit, but he hadn't seen any of them of late out here, either. It was almost as if there was something disturbing about this place that was keeping folks away. Lucas said, "If it's keeping even ghost-types away, who like to scare folks for a living..! Gee, it must be something powerful, I think." Hershlin hummed thoughtfully again, as Damian apologized for not being able to assist more in the mater, but that was it. The only other place other than here that he could think of that had lots of ghosts was Felcrest, with a cemetary there. He also hoped that Herhslin could find his friend eventually, before hesitating somewhat before adding that he could show the group around, if they wanted. Hershlin then opened his eyes yet again form his thoughtful state, before saying, "...I insist that you show us around. I want to try and find out what's going on here...for a gentleman's first code of duty is always to help out someone in need. And...it is obvious that your need...nay, your WANT...is to be able to share this place with others again." The gentleman smiled, before taking his top-hat off in a bow, saying, "I am honoured to be at your assistance." Lucas said, "...You know what? You're right! If seomeone's in trouble, we gotta help 'em! We can't be scared of what might happen...we gotta try our best to assist folks in need!" Lucas nodded vigoursly at this, before looking to Psyduck. Maybe the intielligent water-type might also be able to help them sense what might be going on here, as Hershlin had pointed out before.. |

.3 (*nyrrs* So...storylined it is. n.n; Sorry for not responding yesterday, but I wanted to take a few moments to sit back and get details. I had general idear of what I wanted to do, but I don't like to do details unless I'm sure it's going to be done. *nodnods* Lazy, I am. But...here we go.) Kiyo waved one of his ears a little distractedly, "Wy...naut..." Something was definitely bugging him, but he wasn't certain what. He continued to hesitate, and fell silent, as Hershlin turned to Psyduck now. The blue duck blinked once or twice, then cocked his head to one side. He didn't answer immediately, though, allowing them the time to consider the situation. He weas obviously trying to tune into whatever was bothering Kiyo, though, so no worries that he was just ignoring them. Damian watched the pair of you converse with that slightly wistful expression still on his face, though looking as if he expects you to leave. "There is...something...but..." Psyduck projected after a moment, just after Hershlin insisted upon the tour, as Damian blinked in momentary surprise at such determination. "But...I can't place it...perhaps the tour will help..." Damian recovered from his surprise quickly, though, expression converting to an almost puppylike eagerness. It would almost be pathetic if one didn't consider the fact that the young man had likely been alone up here for the most part for quite some time. There wasn't a trace of dust, nor even a sign of any other people. "You would? Really?" He fought to compose his expression, attempting to look professional. "I really do appreciate this...I don't want grandfather's legacy to be forgotten..." He took a deep breath, and took on a faint sing-song tone, as he began an obviosly long and lovingly practiced speech. "The Shooting Star Observatory was built over fifty years ago, as a tribute to the observation of the heavens, and also as a sign that the pursuit of science didn't have to come at the price of the destruction of nature." He continued on, describing the lobby, and as he spoke, there was a vague feeling of unease about the place...a foreboding, perhaps....nothing really tangible, but sort of there, lurking in that dark corner of the mind that houses the instinctual fear of the dark and being eaten. The longer one stayed here, the more noticable it became. Little wonder Kiyo picked up on it first, though, as it does seem that it's some sort of purely mental influence...if it is an influence. "How...odd..." Psyduck shuddered a bit at the feeling. Kiyo clung to Lucas for comfort. Even Sentret and Oregano seemed jumpy, the wild pokemon actually going so far as to climb up Hershlin to perch on his backpack as if trying to shiled the egg within from whatever was disturbing her. The only one seemingly unaffected by the whole business was Yang, who yawned, bored with the young man's rambling as he continued through the first floor, showing off several rooms full of diagrams, star charts, historical models of telescopes and other fascinating objects. "The observatory above is designed so that the entire dome rotates, so as to position the telescope. The mechanisms that power it are all non-polluting. Most of the power is provided and stored by solar panels..." Damian gestures through a window to several panes of such, carefully integrated into the landscaping. "We took a lot of care to make sure they didn't disturbe the landscape..." He left the room, heading for the stairs. "The view above is breathtaking...the reason this was such a popular location..." And indeed it was, as the group stepped up the stairs passing through a hatchway, a clear split line between the roof below and the floor above visible as they passed it. "No worries...the mechanism cannot activate to turn the dome unless the door is closed and locked." Damian pointed to the lifted hatch. "And..this is the observatory." The entire curved roof was made of glass panels, aside from the pathway for the impressive telescope in the center. "As you can see...it's not just a place to observe the heavens..." Damian smiled quietly as he turned in a slow circle, allowing Hershlin, Lucas and their pokemon to take in the panorama of the world beyond the glass. "Did you notice that he didn't show you the second floor?" Psyduck spoke up in Hershlin's mind abruptly. There had been a landing, and a door, now that he mentioned it. Somehow, it had passed unnoticed as the group had continued on up. The blue pokemon hesitated before continuing though. " I think that's important...but...there's something about this place as well..." Indeed, Kiyo seemed to be more relaxed, and squealed over the view, and that feeling of foreboding seemed much diminished...but...still. There was indeed a mystery here...but what was it? |

(( = 4. Yay for long posts! Sorry my posts's so crap, though..my sis wants to get on. >>Number of posts fire egg needs to hatch: 9.)) Hershlin smiled to himself, admiring the view from the curved glass roof, saying, "Incredible view...I can indeed see why this place would be so popular." The gentleman's smile then changed to a different expression: one of deep thought as he then said, "But then-just what would scare so many others away? Could...the feeling we all had on that first floor have something to do with it?" The feeling that Hershlin spoke of- it had felt so strange-suspicous indeed. Why would such a lovely place invite feelings of instincitual foreboding and fear? It had been so strong, that Oregano and the wild Sentret had freaked out completely on feeling it: but coversely, Yang had seemed to be unaffected. The longer the group had stayed down there, the feeling had become all the stronger: even Hershlin and Lucas themselves had felt it- and Lucas was still shivering a little even now, despite the feeling seeming to be unexplainably weakened up here and all. Lucas wondered, though...why didn't Hershlin seem to be bothered all too much by this odd feeling? Perhaps him being saved by a ghost: that Gastly when he was a boy had made him a little mroe composed than others in such cases...or he was hiding his nervous-ness very well at the time. Hershlin hummed, before turning to Damian and asking him, "Did you feel...a great feeling of unease, too, back on the first floor? I feel...as if a pok'emon may be involved in all this. Why? Well...psychics are especially sensitive to sensing powers, especially if they come from that of a fellow pok'emon. And yet- and yet: Yang seemed to be completly unaffected at all. So: it could be a dark-type. This would make perfect sense, would it not? Darkness...it is disspated by light and weakened by it, logically, so it stands to reason...that a dark-type that wants to do something here would want to shut this place down...to prevent folks comming here- so it's powers aren't continued to be eroded away. Of course, my assumption could be completly off- it is too early in our investigation to make guesses...but I cnanot shake that feeling. And- another thing that backs this guess I made~ is the fact the feeling of foreboding is not felt much at all up here- a place which seems to recieve the most sunlight in the obseravtory..." Lucas said, "Wow...some good reasoning, there. But...if the feeling was strongest in the first floor, why wasn't Psyduck able to pinpoint what the source was?" Hershlin turned to Damian, saying, " I believe-it was because we were close to the source, but not close enough...maybe the cause of all this may rest on the second floor? Of course...all this may be simple guessing which I know I could be wrong in- but as I said before...I cnanot shake this niggling feeling in the back of my mind that there may be an outside force at work here: maybe wishing to close this place down for malicous reasons...or maybe it wants peace and quiet...and I believe this force may lie somewhere in the second floor. Damian, may we please go there to investigate the matter further?" Hershlin didn't bring up the matter of Damian never showing them this room, for he didn't wish to be rude- he was keeping a polite and kindly tone about him at all times in this senario, for he quite liked Damian. The boy wanted to badly to share good with others: which was something he could understand completetly, seeing as he'd come on this journey to help achieve his main goal of helping others and all.. |

.3 (Wasn't as crap as you claimed, IMO. And...augh. Meant to do this last night...and forgot. And...now, have no time. So...sorry in advance for simplicity. x.x) Damian blinked in confusion. "Forboding, fear? No, never. Why would I?" His brow furrowed as he contemplated that a little. "A couple of other people commented about the eerie nature of the place and stuff...but why would I be afraid of grandpa's observatory?" Either he's somehow immune to it, or there's something more to him than meets the eye. Psyduck shakes his head after a moment, and comments soled to Hershlin, "I sense no deception in him...I don't think..." There's a slight hesitation to the tone. "I...this really isn't my best suit though..." The duck winced and gave up for the moment. It is true that the power of a Psyduck's mind is proportional to how much of a headache they have...and he doesn't often have much of one...ah well. It's more than nothing anyhow. It really doesn't say much as to why the young man seems unbothered...indeed, he hadn't a trace of anything other than eager happiness to be showing the place off the whole time. And Damian looked a little confused as to the whole matter. "I don't know why you'd want to see the second floor...all it is is the machinery to operate the telecsope and turn the observatory..." He shrugs. "But, well, if that really interests you..." He heads back down the stairs to the forgettable door, pulling a set of keys out of his pocket and slipping one into the lock and fiddling with the door. "Now...that's odd..." He tugged at the door, but it didn't budge. "It won't unlock..." He fought with it a moment or two more, then sighed. "Let me get the master key...maybe something damaged my copy...wait here." And off he went, leaving the crowd of you standing in front of the mysterious door. |

(( = .3 I still think it's a reasonable post, though. Number of posts fire egg needs to hatch: 8.)) As Hershlin asked Damian if he'd felt something particularly odd whilst in the first room, as he, Lucas and all the pok'emon had, the young man regarded him with a rather puzzled glance, saying he never had, and asked why he would, before going on about this- stating that a couple of other people had said the exact same things about the place: but why would he be afraid of his grandpa's observatory? Lucas said, " Yeah~ that's true. It just wouldn't make snes for you to be afraid, since this spot's your favourite place to go an' all!" He smiled at this, before saying, "Isn't that right, Hershy?" Hershlin said, "Yes- your are correct, Lucas..." But the boy noticed something in Hershlin's tone- that ever-fammilar tone of thoughtful-ness. Could it be he didn't eniterly trust Damian - or was he thinking over what the boy had said, accompained by what they knew so far? He couldn't tell. But one thing Lucas did know: was that when Hershlin had that thoughtful tone in his voice, it meant his brain was really working. However, in the midst of his thoughts, Hershlin heard a fammilar voice in his head- that of his compainon Psyduck, who 'spoke' using his telepathy to the gentleman...and judging on the words the water-type had picked, the matter Psyduck was talking about was one he only wanted Hershlin to hear.. He said that he didn't sense any deception in the man, but such matters weren't really his best suit. Hershlin nodded to his friend- making it look like he was smiling to him adorgingly, but really...he was showing the pok'emon he had heard discreetly. Now that Hershlin thought about it...both himself and Damian both showed signs they were not affected. Was Damian unaffected because he'd had close encounters with the ghosts that used to come here, perhaps? Hershlin knew such feelings didn't unnerve him much because he'd been friends with the Gastly whom saved his life so long ago~very close indeed, and he eventually got used to the creepy feeling as a child. However- he could be wrong. Damian might have never met a ghost, and there might be some suspicon on just how innocent he was in this case...but Hershlin prayed to Arcues that there was no suspicon. He seemed like such a nice young lad, and Hershlin didn't feel that Damian was one to be dishonest at all...but Hershlin could be wrong. He just hoped he wasn't...he really did. Hershlin's wandering thoughts soon went back to Damian as he spoke up, sounding rather confused to their intrest in the second floor~ as all that was there was the machinery to operate the telescope and turn the obervatory. Hershlin perked up in intrest, saying softly, "The internal mechanism for the telescpoe, you say...?" He then said, "I would like to see more of your grandfather's wonderful designs...but it is up to you entierly." Damian shrugged, saying if such things really interested the group, he wouldn't stop them, and so led the large group back down the stairs to the rather plain door, pulling a set of keys out of the pocket and slipping one into the lock: but although it SEEMED like the right one, the door was being as stubborn as a Mankey and just would NOT budge. Lucas said to Damian, "Are you SURE you got the right key, there?" Damian seemed to nod a yes, before muttering that this was particularly odd that the door was not unlocking...Hershlin said with a little smile, utlising his famous sense of wit in this case, "Maybe you forgot to say 'Open sesame', Damian?" Lucas sighed at this, saying, "I will NEVER get your sense of humor Hershy...honestly.." The boy shook his ehad, before looking abck up at Damian, whom struggled witht he lock a bit more before giving up and saying that he was off to get the master key: for maybe something had damaged his copy, and to wait there. With that, he left the group standing in front of the door. Lucas turned to Hershlin, saying, "What now?" Hershlin said, "Lucas...when he mentioned the whole obervatory's telescope is controlled by THIS room we are standing in front of right now, I got an idea...what kind of pok'emon loves tampering with machiens for fun, but yet- also hates sunlight? It would also give off an 'otherwordly' feel.." Lucas's eyes widened, he saying, "You're thinking... a Rotom might have made it's home here?" Hershlin said, "I know it is too early in our investigation to go jumping to conlusions, but it fits, does it not? Rotom- being a ghost~ would naturally be accostomed more to the dark than light. And, like all ghosts...it would give off a rather creepy feeling to dissaude overly strong opponents from it's locationg. And since dark-types like Yang are strong against ghosts...that would explain why he doesn't feel anything. Also: Rotom are playful. They LOVE to tinker with all kind of machinery- and a control room like this might be a sort of haven for one. It would also explain why no other ghosts COME here...for they know this place is already owned by a spirit. It also explains why Damian doesn't feel things: maybe he met the playful ghost once and became friends with it. It would also explain why HE has the only key to this room...perhaps he wants to protect the pok'emon, in spite of what it is doing." He then paused, before saying, "But we shall not know anything until we get into the room." He then asked Psyduck, "Speaking of the creepy feeling...is it stronger here, like I suggested it might be?" Lucas, as Hershlin spoke to Psyduck, couldn't resist going up to the door, knocking, and saying, "Open sesame!" Just as Hershlin had so jokingly implied. He doubted it would DO anything, but...he was just having a bit of fun, here. Edited by Luigi, Feb 7 2009, 11:36 PM.

.3 Damian smiled faintly at the 'Open Sesame comment as he headed off to get the other key, and the door remained there, waiting silently, almost ominously. Psyduck followed Lucas over, one clawed hand rubbing at the side of his blue head as he tried to sense what was going on. Even more eerie, as the boy knocked on the door, it opened silently, pushed open by the force of even that light tap. Then why hadn't Damian been able to get it open? Either something hadn't been letting him open it, or he was a VERY good actor...it had been completely believable, his efforts to open the door. But...no way of knowing without exploring more. "I don't like this Hershlin..." Psyduck took an uneasy step away from the door. "There is at least one presence...but..." The water pokemon hesitated. "If they're wanting us to enter without Damian...why?" The Psyduck peered around the door, then backed up another pace, to let others have a peek if they wanted. Sentret continued to clutch at the backpack and Oregano shivered beside Hershlin's feet. Kiyo mumbled unhappily, chewing on the end of one if his hand-ear things, looking longingly back up the stairs. Yang yawned, and trotted through the door, disappearing into the darkness ahead. He didn't quite get all this hesitation. People had wanted to get the door open and look in and now they were all hesitating...feh. He stopped dead not a foot from the door, though, ears shooting straight up and nose working busily. That...was new. The poochyena stood there, just sort of not exactly out of sight and sniffed, trying to figure it out. And when in doubt...wait for Alpha's orders. Now what? (Edit: Augh...messed up the end big. x.x *fixes to what she's actually intended it to be like but forgot to add the details* Note to self. (( = .3 Don't worry so much over the small stuff- you can easily edit your posts if they don't turn out exactly the way you wanted, can't you? And I'm willing to wait...but anyways! Back to the story.Oh and- since Hershy is being so determined, maybe Yang's happiness might go up a bit out of respect for this determination? Number of posts fire egg needs to hatch: 7.)) Hershlin smiled at seeing that at the very least, his wry joke had seemingly cheered Damian up a little as the man headed off to get the master key. He didn't mind all that much if Lucas didn't get the joke- he didn't mind if anyone got the joke, to be honest, as long as it made at least one person smile a little and tempoarily forget their troubles for a short while. Life was something you should treasure and enjoy every day in Hershlin's opinon - and how could you truly treasure life if you were too focused on worrying about your problems all the time? Yes, some problems were serious- such as the one he, Lucas and their group of pok'emon were attempting to deal with now~ but more often than not, most problems were solved all the quicker if you didn't worry too much about them and kept a positive outlook. Worry just tended to blow little problems out of proportion half the time - so why create more of a problem for yourself when you could just as easily make things easier by keeping a chipper approach? Anyway: all this aside, Hershlin's attention then shifted back to Lucas: whom had been joined by Psyduck at the door...and both the young boy and the gentleman's eyes widened in surprise as the seemingly 'locked' door opened quite easily at Lucas's gentle tapping~ as if it had never BEEN locked at all! Lucas jumped back, shivering slightly and saying, "H-hershy...Damian looked like he honestly couldn't open this door with that spare key he had...s-so why did it just open just now simply by me tapping it? S-something's going on here...Psyduck, do you have any idea what's going on?" The boy held his compainon Kiyo all the more closer to him in his state of nervous-ness as he waited for the water-type's answer, which came soon enough- being directed to Hershlin mainly, but Lucas could hear as well, the duck stating he didn't like this one bit, before saying he could indeed feel the unknown prescence stronger here than he could on the first floor, but it was as if whatever was inside wanted the group to enter without Damian, though he didn't have a clue as to WHY. The Psyduck wasn't the only one whom could apparently sense the unknown thing behind this door, as Lucas spoke up moments after the duck had, saying, "That creepy feeling...it's all the more stronger here, just as Psyduck said...i'm really nervous. What if there's something nasty in there?" Oregano seemed to nod fervently in agreement with the boy as he shivered beside Hershlin's feet- whilst Sentret clung to the backpack ever more tighter and Kiyo cast longing glances back up the stairs, as if he wished he was back up on the rooftop instead of here. However - Yang was just as unaffected as before, yawning to seemingly prove this before heading towards the door determinedly- but oddly, the pup halted just before entering, ears suddenly pricking straight up and his nose snuffling faster than ever- obviously, there was something that the pup found...particularly interesting, mysterious even, about the odd thing's smell. Hershlin looked at all the worried looks about him, before saying, "Yes Lucas...I understand fully that we could be walking into something bad. Which is exactly why we must stick together, and see this through to the end - if it is something bad, we cannot allow such a prescence to continue to scare folk here, can we? No~ we promised we'd do our best to aid Damian with his problem, and aid him we shall! Besides...just because there is a creepy feeling about this, does not prove that the form waiting for us is bad...it could be just a very lonely pok'emon whom wants to have friends. I know far too well...what having almost no friends is like." Lucas nodded- he knew Hershlin- when he still lived with his parents: had found it hard to make friends of any kind, or had been forbidden too...or the people he tried to make friends with simply judged him based on apperance. Hershlin then continued by stating, "The unknown prescence might even want our help, too ~ so we mustn't be scared. When someone is in trouble...you do your best to help them, regardless of how much work is involved in the matter." He paused, before turning to Lucas and saying, "Don't worry...I'd do my best to protect all of you if something bad did come along while we're in there....you are all friends of mine, and I do my best to look after my friends." Lucas said, "R-really? I know you'd do your best to help in any situation, but...would Y-you...you protect us, even if you yourself were scared?" Hershlin said, "Yes...even though my archnaphobia is strong, the way I care for you as my friends...I think that is much stronger than any fear I have." The gentleman smiled warmly, before giving Lucas a hug, and proceeding to try and pat all the pok'emon he had that looked nervous. Oregano sighed- jittering less now. He still felt scared...but...Hershlin sounded so determined, and Yang seemed to look the same way! He didn't want to let them down, and so nodded, before signalling they should go inside. Hershlin nodded in agrrement with his starter, before going through the door, as did Lucas and the group of pok'emon- they all sticking very close to each-other as they entered. |

.3 (I know, I know...it was that I'd meant to have Yang stop and I didn't. That didn't seem that minor to me. *coughs* But yeah, I fixed it, true enough.) Psyduck had no real response to the odd opening of the door, only to stare at it a bit helplessly and shake his head. The pats handed out soothed nerves slightly, as they were recieved. Oregano and Hershlin's approval made known, Yang led the way into the room, as Kiyo continued to chew on his ear, mumbling under his breath. Psyduck was last through the door, and paused by it, tilting his head to one side as the rest cleared the door. "Perhaps..." *WHAM* Psyduck sqawked and dove out of the way as the door abruptly slammed shut, nearly knocking him back out into the hallway. The group was surrounded in darkness instantly. A faint hum rose around the room after a few moments of silence, then the faint clunk of gears engaging, and a whirr of something starting up, fading out to the hum and grind of machinery starting up. After a minute or two a few dim worklights flickered to life, giving enough light to see by, dimly. It was too late to do anything about the door, though. It wouldn't budge open, not even with 'Open Sesame.' It may not have been wise to have tried to stop it either, with the force it moved at...if there had even been the time to react. Something had definitely wanted to catch the group of you in here... "This could be problematic..." Psyduck observed, as he righted himself and moved closer to the group again. Yang bristled, ears and nose still working madly. He looked about the room and barked warningly. "That many? But I don't..." The poochyena snarls, cutting Psyduck off, glancing around again. "If you say so..." Psyduck sighed, turning his attention to the room in general. "It seems Yang smells at least three or four other...things in the room with us. I sense only one or two...maybe..." It's clear that Psyduck doesn't completely believe Yang's assessment, but doesn't want to refute someone with that many sharp teeth. A faint chuckle, then another, echoed in the room, and then it was silent again, aside from the whir of machinery. "Then again..." Psyduck backs into Hershlin's legs as Yang bristles, eyes darting around the room. Sentret squeaks warningly from her position guarding the bag and it's precious contents, just before there's a sharp clang and a squeal over to the left. |

(( = .3 This looks a little bad...I don't think Hershlin's pok'emon are quite strong enough to take on a whole group of potentially powerful pok'emon at once..Number of posts fire egg needs to hatch: 6.)) As the group sallied forth into the room, Hershlin was glad that the small hug- on Lucas's part: and the small pats- on his compainon's parts: had calmed down nerves somewhat before they entered...there was no point in letting fear control you. All it did the majority of the time was make you scared- too scared to try anything, too scared to stick to your beliefs...it was the same as just giving up without trying~ basically. Yes: in such senarios such as this, Hershlin could fully understand why one would be scared - this whole case of events stunk of suspicon like a Stunky's spray. Suspcion was a thing which could make even the most determined souls quake a little in fear....accompany this with the geenral feeling of foreboding that seemed to emanate from this location, and it was no wonder that almost everyone was feeling nervous right now. But- the best thing to do when you were scared...was to stick by someone you trusted. If you trusted in your friends...would you not feel less afraid simply by knowing that they were by your side? Therefore, he gently placed a hand supprotively on Lucas's shoulder, and outstretched his left hand for anyone whom wished to take it. Psyduck was last through the door, and paused by it thoughtfully as the rest of the group cleared it, but hadn't much time to say anything as something unexpcted happened- the door suddenly slammed shut violently behind them. Lucas jumped in shock, clinging to Hershlin's right arm fearfully- there was nothing but pitch-black darkness around them. But...for some reason, he could feel his feelings of fear- they weren't as bad as they could be. Why was that? He then clicked: he was less afraid with Hershlin and the group by his side, because he felt more comfortable...knowing that they were safe. Knowing that they could all look out for each-other. Hershlin turned around and experimentally turned the handle of the door- but no matter how much he tried, it seemed it would not open. The gentleman said, "Hmm...it seems we are here unil we get to the bottom of all this, now. Well...I didn't plan on leaving until i'd solved this mystery anyway...but are you all alright?" Lucas said, "I-I'm okay...I feel a little scared...but I feel a bit safer having you all here with me." Hershlin's pok'emon all gave rather shaky or determined-sounding replies, when suddenly another noise came up which made everyone silent: a faint hum, as if a machine of sorts was powering up. This was soon followed by the faint clinking of gears, and then a short whirring of something starting up. Hershlin blinked in the darkness, murmering interestedly, "Now..what on earth was that? It sounded like some machine..but Damian said the only stuff here are the things that rotate the upper level. Hmmm..." Lucas looked around- but as much as he tried, he couldn't see anything in this pitch blackness. Thankfully, after a minute of further silence by the group, a few worklights lit up ahead, giving the gorup just enough light to see by. Lucas let go of Hershlin's arm, sighing slightly. He felt a LOT better with the lights on: mainly because he was scared of the dark, and anything could creep up on you in pitch-blackness, which he really didn't want...he wanted to try and protect Kiyo as much as he could. The Wynaut was probably scared, too...as the lights went on, hershlin said, "Lucas...I believe someone wants us to be here..they want us to do something, perhaps...that door suddenly slamming shut like that when there is not a breath of wind around here is no coincedence. No..." Lucas said, "Is someone..trying to hurt us? Or do they want help?" Lucas then felt a rise of anger overcome his fear for a split second, he saying, "I'm gonna h-have something to say if they want to hurt my friends!" Hershlin said, "I don't know yet~ for all we know, this could be a bit of harmless 'fun' in the eyes of a mishcevious pok'emon. But- let us stick together, and be on our guard for anything that sounds or looks supicous, my boy." Psyduck then spoke up after Hershlin had, sighing that this siuation could be problematic, as he righted himself and moved close to the group...but just as he did this, Yang's fur bristled on end, ears seeming to stand even mroe up than before and nose snuffling madly. The dark-type looked around the room, before barking in a warning manner, which elictied a shocked response from Psyduck which both Herslin and Lucas widened their eyes at: apparently, they were certainly not alone in here. Psyduck and Yang then exchanged more conversation, before Psyduck turned his attention back to the room in general, he saying that yang smelt at least three or four other things in the room with them- but oddly, Psyduck himself could only sense one or two. Lucas said, "Maybe...mister Psyduck...maybe something's blocking your sense from sensing as many things as Yang does? My dad said a dog's sesne of smell is rarely wrong- and Yang seems really worked up. He wouldn't be like that if there was only one or two other things here.." Hershlin said, folding his arms thoughtfully as he did so, "Hmmm...but if what you say is true, Lucas...the thing that might be here would have to have immese powers indeed to block off a psychic's sense.." The gentleman trailed off as he heard a faint chuckle echo in the room, shortly followed by another, before all was silent once more. Even the usually clam Psyduck seemed a little nevrous now, backing into Hershlin's legs as Yang's fur bristled so much he began to resemble a grey bottlebrush. Sentret remained on her perch, squeaking in what seemed a warning manner to whatever was out there, apparently, before a sharp clang and a squeal sounded from the left. Hershlin said, voice concerned, "Oh...that sounded a bit like a cry of pain. Lucas..we must all go over there together and see what that was." Lucas said, "Okay...even if it might be something bad..." he paused, shivering slightly at this thought, before continuing, "I can't stand the thought of a pok'emon...or another person in pain, all alone in such a scary-seeming place.." This said, Hershlin gestured for his pok'emon and Lucas to all stay right next to him: before heading slowly over to the left. of course...he didn't need to gesture, as the group all stuck by his side like glue anyway, the majority of them being scared like heck...and one of them was just as determined as Hershlin, it seemed, to find out what was going on here. Another odd thing was that Hershlin still didn't show the slightest hint of fear on his face~ sure, he did look concerned for whatever might have made that squeal, but no fear. This was because - though he felt nervous inside- he had to try and keep brave outwarldy...for his friends's sakes. The majority of his compainons looked so scared...and if he showed fear, the whole group might fall into hysterical fear even worse than this! He didn't want this to happen: so he was keeping a brave front. But...he wasn't scared inside yet, thankfully...just nervous. He felt nervous because this case seemed to be getting bigger and bigger by the moment, and he wanted so bad not to let Damian down: whom seemed so nice: and thus his want to try and solve this big case and not let anyone down was what was making him nervous, not the scary look of the room. |

.3 (Things often appear worse than they really are...also, I apologize...I'm in a bit of writing funk so this may not be all that great or long. Sorry for not responding sooner, too.) The lights faltered and the machinery skipped a beat as the group headed toward the squeal. Another clang echoed through the room, and a manic giggle. Yang bared his teeth slightly as they rounded a corner to find a gremlin in the works. Rather literally, no less. The little...thing stood but a foot an a half or a little more high, glittering eyes refacting light like gemstones. It giggled again as it spotted the group of you, raising its claws high and bringing them crashing down upon the whirring machinery beside it. Another squeal echoed eerily as the machinery faltered again, and the gremlin faded out of sight entirely. Yang snarled at the spot it had recently resided in, as the lights flickered once more. A fainy blue charge of electricity arced over the machine as it stablilized. The cry and the faint whimpering now audible seemed to be coming from the machine, as first one, then another gremlin giggle echoed through the machinery. If left alone, they would surely tear the machinery apart...but why hadn't they before now if they've been causing trouble for years? "Mmmmm..." The machine hummed faintly, sparking again. Yang huffed at it, and turned to look around the room, Oregano following suit as Psyduck stared at the machine. "I think..." the blue duck touched the machine carefully, "I think it's alive...sort of." ~~~~~~~~~~~ x2???? ~ Lurking and damaging the works |

As the group headed towards the strange noise, Lucas shouted in shock, clutching Hershlin's arm ever tighter as the little light above them suddenly faltered slightly, putting the group in pitch-blackness for a few seconds once more before the lights slowly came back on, the clanking noise of machinery seeming a little fainter than before~ it had even stopped a while: and just as the lights turned off, too. Hershlin said thoughtfully at this, "Hmm...it seems that machine in the background, logically must be providing the power to the lights~ for when it faltered, so too did the lightbulbs above." Lucas said shakily, "I do-don't wanna be st-stuck in a pitch-black room, Hershy...let's find out what's getting hurt here quickly so we can try and find that machine and try and fix it, if we can.." Lucas then jumped in fear again as another sharp clanging noise echoed through the room, followed by almost sinister-sounding laughter - there was defintely something nasty being done here. Hershlin urged the group forward with greater urgency at hearing the nasty little laughs- he was not the kind of person whom could just sit back and do nothing while malicous persons- or pok'emon- hurt someone innocent. Lucas gulped, grasping Hershlin's arm with his free hand all the tighter, but followed anyway- he wanted to help the person or creature in distress as much as his compainon wanted to. Suddenly, as the close-knit group turned a corner, they saw a wild pok'emon that wasn't normally seen near human civilization at all - usually, these pok'emon resided deep in caves. Yang bared his teeth, and Lucas asked shakily, "Wh-what IS that?! It looks like..an imp or something.." Hershlin said, after looking over the creature silently for a moment, "A Sableye...dual ghost and dark-type. These pok'emon...they're not often found near humans, but when they are, they have the nasty tendancy to tinker with machinery and wreck it- or cause it to work strangely. Many people call them the 'gremlins' of the pok'emon world for this very reason..Iv'e never seen one before, mind you, but I did read a fair bit about them when I was younger." The purple 'imp' of a pok'emon giggled in that same malious-sounding laughter the group had heard before, before suddenly slashing it's arms unexpectedly down onto the machinery next to it, another squeal echoing eerily as the machine- and the lights- both faltered again, before the pok'emon vanished out of sight before anyone could react, Yang snarling at the spot it had been in. Lucas said angrily at this, "Those sneaky little...! I bet they KNOW people are more scared of the dark, and they're trying to get the lights out so they can scare us or something like that!" Hershlin said, "It also explains the situation a little- these ghosts would probably have laid dormant for years- but were probably awakened recently by sensing all the people that visted here- and their other-wordly precense may be EXACTLY what was scaring so many folk away. But- why didn't Damian sense their precense too, if that be the case? Though the apperance of these Sableyes explains things...it does not completely solve the puzzle at hand." Hershlin wandered towards the machine worriedly, to try and assess the damage, and jumped back slightly as a faint blue charge of electricity crackled over the machine as it managed to stabilize. The gentleman's eyes widened, he saying, "Lucas...the cries of pain we're hearing...they seem to be comming from this generator, my boy." Lucas's eyes widened a little, before the boy laughed, saying, "Come off it, Hershy! You're my friend and all...but a machine can't be ALIVE! That's just silly~!" Hershlin said, smiling slightly despite the situation, "But if Pok'emon such as Magnemite and Rotom's other forms can live, which LOOK like machinery...why can't machines in themself be alive? I know it's not common for machines that humans build to have life...but if a Porygon, also created by a person, can have life, why not a machine?"Lucas paused in his boyish laughter, saying admittedly, "...You DO have a point there..." The boy suddenly heard another creepy giggle from inside the machine, turning towards it in response and saying, "Those Sableye are gonna wreck the machine if we don't do anything, Hershy...whatta we do? Whatta we do?" Hershlin paused to think about the issue as the machine made an odd humming noise, sparking yet again. Yang and Oregano both looked around the room, but stayed where they were as Psyduck gently touched the machine, saying that it was indeed alive...but only 'sort of'. Lucas said, "There could be a pok'emon inside or something...I dunno. The whole idea of a living machine is hard for me to believe, honestly..." Hershlin suddenly spoke, saying, "We can't ask our pok'emon compainons to attack, for those Sableye are deep in the machine...it will only hurt the machine if we do that. Yet- we cannot stand by idly and do nothing, either. Hmmm...what a dilemma." He suddenly had an idea, pulling out his pok'edex and pointing it at the machine, saying, " Maybe the precsense of another machine might lure those Sableye out again...and if that doesn't work, the energy in the machine could try tempararily going in my pok'edex so it could be safe for a while...which might also lure those ghosts out long enough to actually be able to try and scare them away from here...I just hope we won't have to do a proper battle here, for I do not wish to place any of my pok'emon in a fight that would be unwinnable...I have no idea what levels those imps are, after all." |

.3 (Matters to me because I want to do things justice, really. But other than tha...I suppose your right. Sorry again for the delay...I think I need a vacation from kids soon. Geh.) The pokedex beeped as it was pointed at the machine, but no image popped up, merely a 'scanning' screen. Huh. Maybe there was a pokemon in there. However, the beep was like a magnet or something as one of the Sableye lunged out of seemingly nowhere at Hershlin, claws extended, manic grin broadening, and narrowing the thoughts that it might be possible to negotiate with the little gremlins to pretty well nil. "Chiko!" Oregano fired a leaf off in surprisingly swift reaction, but due to his own jittery nreves, the shot went wide of the mark, and the Sableye vanished again into the darkness, giggling madly. At least it was prevented from actually hitting Hershlin with its claws... A rattle from the door made yet another distraction, and a muffled curse from beyond it indicated that Damian had likely returned and was trying the door again, with similar luck. A giggle from that direction indicated that the likely issue the first time had been one of the sableye, and this was probably the same again. But, there was the other one nearby, still lurking and waiting an opportunity to pounce... Another clang and the machine squealed again. It seems that it was also trying to draw you out... A faint sense of foreboding crept over Hershlin at this point, as if something were trying to say that giong in AFTER it would be bad... Psyduck continued to touch the machine with one hand, the other rubbing at his forehead. His headache was getting worse again...but... "It says over there!" Psyduck points abruptly, into the machinery. Well, now one had a direction...but who to trust? The machine, or that niggling feeling of doubt... ~~~~~~~~~~~ ((As a point of reference here, this is semi-freeform. Any fighting will be done with no stats or levels. Strategy and such will be the key to winning, rather than power level. If that's confusing, let me know and I'll clarify further. *nods*)) |

(( = .2. And I understand how the semi-freeforms work, so you don't need to worry about telling me...only this is a crappy post, and I know I won't likely get any advantages from this typing!Number of posts fire egg needs to hatch: 4.)) As Hershlin pointed his pok'edex at the machinery, the gentleman couldn't help noticing that as he did so- the pok'edex's screen beeped that it was scanning- but why would it do this if there was only ONE pok'emon in there? Maybe Lucas's faint guess that there was more than just the Sableye inside the bits of metal and iron was correct after all, perhaps...but why was the pok'edex taking so long to find out what other pok'emon was in there? However, the gentleman had little time to think about this, as the beeping of the pok'edex acted as more powerful of an attraction to the imp-like Sableye than he'd first thought- the pok'emon instantly reappeared the instant his pok'edex mad that noise, the Gentleman steeling himself for a heavy amount of pain as the creature attempted to swing it's arms at him and hit him with some sort of attack, a malovent grin on it's face as it did so-it seemed that trying to reason with these pok'emon would be something he would not be able to do, sadly. However, although Hershlin had fully been expecting to get hit by the attack, another surprising event occured- his compainon Oregano got over his fear for a split second, the Chikorita letting off an angry-sounding cry as he swung his leaf haphazardly, sending a flurry of razor-sharp leaves into the air as he swung this appendage, but saldy- his aim was lacking. The attack didn't even so much as scrape the nasty little ghost, whom seemed to take pleasure in the Chikorita's look of fustration and disspointment in himself in his move missing, snickering in what seemed a nasty little manner before vanishing yet again into nothing-ness. Hershlin shook his head in a somewhat shocked manner, saying, "It is sad...why some pok'emon seem so hateful and malovent towards others when such anger...it only hurts themselves. I didn't want things to come to a fight - but it seems that if we wish to protect the source of our only lights in here: and a possible scared, innocent pok'emon...we have no choice in the matter. But- what are we to do? Those Sableye usually dissapear quickly, and by luring them out- I put my friends in danger. And throwing attacks wildly into the machine is a big no as well, as I said before! But - nothing is impossible! I know we can do this if we simply think through it and do our best." He paused a moment, before turning to Oregano and sayng, "Thank you, my friend...if it were not for your fats thinking, I could very well have been hurt- or worse...Lucas might have been injured! I'm very proud of you." The gentleman's praises to his starter were suddenly cut short as the door rattled violently- Lucas turning towards it and saying, "Hershy! Hershy! It's Damian...I bet he could help us save the machine! But-the door's still shut..." The boy trailed off as he heard an all-too fammilar snicker from that area, saying, "Argh! It's a Sableye that's cutting off that door! We gotta get it outta the way so Damian can help the machine...he'd probably be able to get the Sableye that's in the machine and hurting it out!" Hershlin nodded, before suddenly turning to Yang and saying in a whisper, so the imps would be less likely to hear him, "My friend- you're a dark-type, so you can probably sneak up on thigns as good as those imps can...try to sneak up on the one gaurding the door, and when you're close enough- Bite it as hard as you can to try and distract it from the door long enough for Damian to get in. Try to hold on and not let go for as long as you can. Pandora- you help him too! Once Yang is holding that pest down with his Bite: you'll have an opporuntity to strike with your Powder Snow at close range, since Yang will be holding the pest down. Follow that up with a Hail~ and try to focus all the Hail onto the area you used Powder Snow on, so that the chances of the pest being tempoararily frozen and out of the way will be higher!" Hershlin's commands to Yang and Pandora finished, he then turned to Psyduck- only to be startled yet again from another squeal from the machine. There was another faint sense of foreboding now- as if his common sense was saying going in after the Sableye would be a bad idea. Hershlin had no plans of going in there- for one thing, he wasn't nearly small enough to go in there, and the other reason was because he didn't want to damage the machine more...there had to be some way of sorting this out from the outside...Psyduck rubbed his head: showing faint signs of a headache as he said the machine was telling Hershlin the Sableye was over there, before pointing into the machinery. Hershlin nodded seriously, before deliberatly pointing his pok'edex right at the area and making it beep- as he did this, he said, "When Sableye re-appears, we'll only get a few seconds to use an attack before it vanishes agin, from what I have surmised...so we must move fast! Psyduck, fire off your Water Pulse right at the imp's eyes when it comes at me- hopefully, if we confuse it, it will be too busy trying to vent out it's anger out on me to go back and do damage to the machine...and this will give us an opporuntinty for attack. Oregano, if Sableye is confused, quickly try another Razor Leaf at it~but if it's not confused, then try to track down where the imp dissapears to again~ and Growl at it to try and taunt it out of hiding again. We cannot let them do any more damage to that poor little innocent.." Lucas suddenly piped up, saying, "If you want to attack Sableye and get it out of the machine, why didn't you just ask Oregano to use Posion Powder? The powder would sift through the vetilation system of the machine and posion the nasty little thing- which should be attack enough to make it angry and want to attack YOU and not the Pok'emon I think's inside that machine..." Hershlin said, "Because Oregano has no control over WHERE the posion cloud goes...and I do not wish to accidently posion the pok'emon-or 'living machine' we are trying to help out, here." |

.3 (Sorry about the lack of length, and delay in responding. Should be better now that I've handled most things and don't feel as lousy. *nods*) Yang and Pandora disappear into the murk, as the pokedex beeps again. There is no immediate response this time, and Psyduck and Oregano both back up a pace, searching the area warily. The pokedex beeps again, a picture of sableye flashing onto the screen, and this time the attack comes from the side. Psyduck blasts a steam of water right into the gremlin's face, stopping his charge, but he vanishes out of sight again quickly, flailing a bit before he does so. Oregano growls as he advances, hoping the very faint tremor in his challenge isn't heard. The door rattles again, and a muffled curse, then there's a squeal, a yelp of pain from Yang, and then a flurry of snow and cold in that direction. A hiss from the machine in front of you and the sound of scampering feet indicates that the one in the machinery is on the move now, towards your other two pokemon. Muffled, but audible, from the direction of the door comes another shout and rattle. "What's going on in there?!" The machine seems to hum louder in response to Damian's muffled voice. |

(( = .2 Hey, it's fine! A short reply is better than nothing, in my opinon.^^ And oooh- Hershy's egg is going to hatch soon! Kinda bad timing, considering there are nasty ghosts around and all, though...Number of posts fire egg needs to hatch: 3.)) As Yang and Pandora go off towards the door, the dark-type growling slightly to the playful Spheal to be quiet before the two of them head off, attempting to catch the imp guarding the door off-guard enough so that Damian can get in and help fix the machine- or help them at least get rid of the sources of the problem to the injured machine and it's 'occupant', as Lucas suspects he might be able to do: after all, the guy's been in this area since he was a kid! He probably knows better than anyone how the machinery here can be best fixed~ and he may have an idea about what exactly is going on in general- why is there a pok'emon inside a machine that could so easily be targeted by wild pok'emon? Perhaps Damian KNOWS about the pok'emon in the machine- and didn't want anyone else to find out about it, which could be why he was somewhat reluctant to let Hershlin and the group into the second floor where the pok'emon resides in the first place? If it was a rare pok'emon like Rotom or something, then it made sense - if everyone knew about a rare pok'emon inside the machines here, there'd probably be heaps of trainers mobbing into here to smack the poor thing stupid and make it come with them against it's will...and if Damian was close to the pok'emon, it made sense that he wouldn't want something like that to happen to his 'friend'. However: such questions would have to remain unanswered for now, for the more important matter at hand here was trying to take care of the Sableye long enough so their 'grip' on the door would cease and Damian would actually be ABLE to come in and assist them. Hershlin stood tense as the pok'edex let out a second resonant beep towards the machine ~ the Sableye's reaction to the pok'edex last time had been warning enough that he should be on his guard, if he wished to use the machine to lure the annoyance of a dual-type out long enough for his pok'emon to be able to attack it~ and even if the pok'edex lured the ghost out, attacking it would be difficult. Because Sableye were Dark and ghost-types, they held no weaknesses of any kind against any type of move ~ and some attacks, like Normal-type and Psychic-type ones, would have no effect whatsover. Hershlin had faith in his compainons, but he knew that they couldn't hold out forever with such a disadvantage- which was why it was imparitive that he and his compainons made it possible for Damian to get in as quickly as possible. The longer Damian stayed outside, the worse the chance there was that his compainons- and the unknown innocent pok'emon inside the machine- would be at risk. He didn't want this to happen- and perhaps it was his determination to keep his compainons and the innocent one out of danger that kept him so calm, even though there was a high chance that the Sableye's attack could easily strike him. Speaking of the Sableye - there was no instant reaction from the dual-type this time, despite the pok'edex's high-pitched beeping, and both Psyduck and Oregano backed up slightly, both pok'emon keeping a firm gaze on their surroundings- the air seeming to become even more tense as the three waited for the attack~and it was a good thing the pok'emon kept a firm gaze on the entierty of their surroundings, and not just the machine, for the dual-type re-appared quite suddenly- attacking from the side instead of head-on like it had before. However, Psyduck was ready for the imp, and blasted ring-shaped pulses of water quickly from his beak, the attack smacking the pok'emon straight in the face and stopping it's attack - however, the down-side was that the gremlin vanished again rather quickly, which didn't give Oregano the chance to fire off an offensive attack himself-but on the brighter side, it looked like the imp had taken a fair amount of damage from the move, as it had flailed around quite considerably as it had vanished again. As Oregano growled (despite feeling petrified at the moment, he didn't want to let down those whom had so much faith in him), the door Damian was trying so hard to open rattled yet again: but the man was still unable to get in. Hershlin's attention was occupied with the 'group' of Oregano and Psyduck, but Lucas was keeping a vivid eye on Yang and Pandora, and winced as he saw some vicous-seeming blows exchanged between the two and the Sableye: and it seemed the other Sableye seemed to sense it's compainon's pain or 'condition' it was in, for the boy then heard a hiss from the machine, followed closely by the sound of scampering feet...this was bad. Because Yang and Pandora were focusing on the one Sableye, they'd get caught off-guard if Hershlin didn't get Psyduck or Oregano to intercept the one heading towards the dark-type pup and the dual-typed sea lion quickly...the boy spoke out hurriedly at noting this, and said, "Hershy! Quick-the other one's trying to help it's friend so Damian can't get in! Do something, quick!" Hershlin had heard the noises from the machine for himself and knew well that actions, not words, were best in the situation. The gentleman said, "Psyduck, stay and tend to the pok'emon in the machine as best you can...maybe you might be able to help it repair a little, not that the Sableye that was in it is walking away...Oreagno! Yang and Pandora are going to be badly hurt if we don't move fast- I know you feel nervous, but you can't just let yourself think that you're not strong enough all the time. The opponents...will have already won in that case, if you just continue to doubt yourself...and your own abilities, my friend. It's time to stand up~ and since these are creatures of shadow, light seems the best way to deal with them. Charge up and fire a Solar Beam at that Sableye heading towards Yang and Pandora as fast as you can- maybe the blast might also open the door and allow Damian entry, as well." Turning to Yang and Pandora, he said, "You two focus on the Sableye you've got in sight- Yang, keep Biting down as frequently and as hard as you can, and Pandora, use Powder Snow again! If Oregano cannnot get his Solar Beam to hit the Sableye headed towards the both of you in time, quickly use Water Gun on that particular imp to keep it at bay!" As Hershlin finished his commands, there was another muffled rattle from the door, followed by a slightly muffled, but audible shout from Damian, whom heard the scuffle and asked what was going on- the machine humming a little louder in response to his voice. Lucas- since he was closer to the door and more likely to be heard, said, "Damian! Some Sableye jumped us outta nowhere when we entered- and that's why you probably couldn't get the door open before! They're wrecking a machine in here...which Hershy thinks is ALIVE, as stupid as that sounds. I think there's a pok'emon in it..but you might wanna get down and outta the way...Hershy's buddy Oregano is going to try a...shall we say..different way of both opening the door and scaring the two imps off..." The boy hugged his Wynaut friend closer, saying kindly, "Don't worry...I'm scared too..but I'm not gonna let anything just happen to you! I'll try and protect you as much as Hershy's trying to protect this...pok'emon in the machine here.." |

.3 The rattling from the door stopped rather abruptly at Lucas' shout, so Damian had probably heard at least some of it. Oregano bounded after the second Sableye, attempting to charge up the Solar Beam, but there was so little ight in here and none of it natural...it was hard for him to pull in enough to do much of anything with. The leaf on his head began to glow, however, brightening slowly, making it easier to track him. Yang was limping slightly from the gash given to him by sableye claws when he'd bit the little gremlin, but didn't look too badly off yet. Pandora was ready with another blast of ice as soon as she spotted any sort of movement from where the second had vanished. Unlike her usual self, the happy little spheal had an oddly serious expression on her face... Psyduck remained by the machine however, closing his eyes and touching it again with one clawed hand, attempting to reach whatever it was that was in the machine. The other hand remained on his forehead as he tried to focus his psychic abilities to communicate with the machine. The skitter of feet through the machinery was more than audble from the first of the sableyes spotted, and it lunged out just as the second lunged at Yang. Oregano frantically tried to fire the beam, but not quite enough light to have gathered enough. Yang parried his initial target with his snapping fangs, catching it on the arm, and Pandora blasted the area with yet more cold. The second plowed into the Poocyena's side, as he wrestled with the one who had been messing with the door, casuing Yang to lose his grip with a yelp. Oregano flinched, then charged forward, firing off what he'd managed to charge up anyhow...forget trying to hit the door too, he'd hit Yang as well if he did. The beam of light, much weaker than usual, but still powerful, slammed into the one tearing at the pup's side, causing it to vanish with a shriek of pain. Weak as it was, the sunlight filled the room illuminating even the darkest corners with light. The other sableye squealed, flinching rather dramatically away from the light. He leapt for the nearest wall, looking as if he intended to pull his vanishing trick again, and failed utterly, slamming into the wall and scrabbling at it desperately. Then the light faded out, leaving the room nearly dark again, and he all but fell through, disappearing out of sight. The first thrashed a bit feebly on the floor until Pandora rolled over and liberally doused him with water. The little gremlin lay still for a moment, then began to sink slowly through the floor. The door rattled again. In the light of the Solar Beam, it had become clear that the gremlins had shoved a couple wedges of some sort under the door to prevent it opening. Probably, then, the first time he'd unlocked it had worked...and they'd removed the wedges before Lucas's tapping, which allowed it to open so eerily... "I...I think...I get it..." Psyduck's contact wavered, as if he were having some sort of difficulty. "It's...BOTH..." Both what? But Psyduck seemed distracted by something else before he could finish, staggering, before falling over, and starting to snore. There was a faint purple fog seeming to fill the room as Psyduck toppled, and the remaining Sableye tittered shakily from somewhere in the works. Sentret chittered abruptly from behind Hershlin, squeaking up a storm and pointing at a pair of glowing eyes just beyond the now sleeping Psyduck... ((For clarity's sake, one Sableye has been defeated, the other is badly wounded. Psyduck just got Hypnosis'd but the scary glowing eyes. Yang is fairly hurt, but still up, Pandora and Oregano are uninjured as of yet.)) Edited by DarthEevee, Feb 20 2009, 12:37 PM.

(( = .4 You gotta admit...Hershlin's got guts, trying to talk resonably to something that probably just put his own pok'emon to sleep and all...Number of posts fire egg needs to hatch: 2.)) As Lucas called out towards the door to try and warn Damian that sticking right next to it might not be the best of ideas, the rattling ceased considerably- the young boy sighing in relief- at least SOMETHING was going right in this whole mess of a situation~ which was Damian apparently having heard him. Because right now, it seemed more and more things were happening unpexctedly and piling up and him and Hershlin. Why THEM? They hadn't done anything wrong- they were trying to protect an innocent pok'emon: and prevent this nice old lighthouse from being deserted forever. Because it didn't deserve that! Damian's grandfather had spent so much time and effort seemingly on this place, in Lucas's opinon, that it would be a right shame to see it turn into a run-down old dump....and Damian didn't seem to want this to happen, either! So really: they were fighting for the protection of both an old dream AND the pok'emon inside the machine here...and yet, they encountered nasty little critters that seemed to want nothing more than to stop them, and hurt the innocent pok'emon? Why? Lucas sighed and shook his head sadly, before turning his attention back to Oregano at Hershlin's side, the young boy silently urging the Chikorita on as it bounded after the Sableye attempting to sneak up on Yang and Pandora- but it appeared that the little grass-type was having trouble absorbing enough energy to power his most potent attack- since there was very little light here at all. Would he be able to collect enough energy to fire off the attack in time? Lucas seemed to think so, for he whispered to himself as the grass-type's leaf began to slowly glow, "You can do it~both me and Hershy know you can!" Though the boy and the older gentleman both seemed to have faith in Oregano's abilities, the downside of the powerful move was that it made the Chikorita very easy to see- so there was no option on attempting to sneak up on the Sableye. Oregano would have to fire as soon as the Sableye was withing range- and he'd only get one shot at the attack, as if he missed...the Sableye would probably just dissapear as easily as they had before, or worse...do bad damage to Yang and Pandora. Speaking of Yang and Pandora, Lucas could now see the true extent of their scuffle with the other Sableye: the dark-type had a nasty-looking gash down his side, probably what had been the cause of him yelping before- his close-range attack on the Sableye had not come without a sacrifice on his own part. Thankfully, he didn't look too bad just yet- and Lucas, knowing how stubborn the dog was from experience, when he and Hershlin had first met the pup and all, knew the dark-type wasn't going to 'play dead' just yet from his injuries, so to speak. Pandora had been very lucky- seeming to be unscathed at the moment, but the boy was surprised at the serious expression now on her face. It wasn't like Pandora to be like this...she was usually the naive, happy-go-lucky, 'everything's gonna be alright in the end' sort of pok'emon, from the experience he and Hershlin had with her so far. This whole situation must be having as much as an affect on her as it was having on the other pok'emon. Lucas looked worriedly to the Sentret that was on Hershlin's backpack, wondering just how the stalkerish normal-type was coping with all this, to see her still clutching as protectivley as ever to the gentleman's bag. Lucas had to give the pok'emon credit- even though it's stalker-ish ways were creepy, it was pretty brave to stick with them despite how totally creepy this whole situation was. Hershlin didn't seem to mind the pok'emon's close proximity, despite it being a female and he normally being apprehensive of close contact with those of the opposite gender~ perhaps he found the pok'emon's willingness to protect the precious egg still inside his egg quite inspiring, and something he could learn from, as he'd had NO experience with baby pok'emon before. Herhslin turned to Psyduck for a moment to see how he was going, but the water-type still seemed to be pre-occupied with trying to help the machine: he hadn't apparently been able to 'communicate' with it yet, it seemed. The gentleman's eyes widened in shock as both Sableyes appeared- both ganging up on Yang and Pandora. Hershlin was quite appaled that the pok'emon would so unfairly 'gang up' on one group of pok'emon, and said angrily, "You Sableye have NO idea of respectable battling at all! I never...you certainly need to learn some manners, as well as several other things as well..." He then turned to Oregano, hurriedly gesturing to the grass-type that he should use his attack: but it still wasn't charged up enough. Yang caught the first of the Sableye's off-guard, managing to snap his jaws shut on it's arm, and Pandora helped by blasting the area with another dose of freezing-cold air. However, because the two were focused on one opponent, the second Sableye managed to get a nasty hit into Yang's side, the wolfish-pok'emon yelping in pain and having to let go of his target...and it was then that Oregano charged enough energy, and ran forward before firing the beam of light. Hershlin could tell the chikorita hadn't had enough time to fully charge the attack, but he didn't care- the move had been needed to help Yang and Pandora right then and there. And help them it did~ though it wasn't fully-charged, Lucas had to screw up his eyes from the sheer of amount of sunlight the attack generated- it was blinding! The attack slammed right into the nasty little imp attacking Yang, and it vanished a few seconds afterwards, accompained with a high-pitched shriek of pain. The other Sableye squealed- though the attack hadn't hit him, he seemed badly affected by all that sunlight, and leapt for the nearest wall- only to collide with it instead of vanishing through it, which Kiyo couldn't help chuckling at, despite the situation. As soon as it had come, the light vanished~and the Sableye whom had found himself victim of a 'wall attack' fell through the wall, vanishing out of sight again. It seemed like it had certainly been hurt badly by the attack- sunlight truly WAS a powerful weapon against these imps. The first of the dual-types wasn't so lucky, and as it writhed on the floor, Pandora rolled over and shot a powerful jet of water at it, stopping it's spasmatic twitches quickly and the imp lying still now- and fading away through the floor. Hershlin raised an eyebrow, saying, "That's a rather...unique way of fainting...but at least now there is one less of those imps to deal with.." Lucas nodded, before hearing the door rattle again~ and the boy grinned, saying, " The light of the Solar Beam let me see what's blocking the door! Some wedges underneath it- i'll go deal with them, and you watch that ghost, okay?" Hershlin said softly, "Be careful, my friend..." He turned to Yang, saying, "Stick by Lucas while he opens the door. If anything tries to get too close to him, Bite it." As Lucas attempted to get those blocks out from under the door so Damian could finally get in, still holding his compainon 'Kiyo' close to him, Psyduck finally spoke up- but his words made Hershlin feel a bit concerned. They were rather wavery, as if something was trying to stop him getting the words out..he said he thought he had it, before stating the words 'its both'~ but what this meant, he never get to say, as he suddenly staggered and fell over, snoring deeply. Hershlin rushed to his compainon's side worriedly, saying, "Psyduck! My friend...!" The gentleman blinked as he saw that none of his words did anything to rouse his compainon, and he said deducing what must have happened quickly, "A sleep-inducing attack...it has to be. but Sableye cannot learn any attacks like that...there is another wild pok'emon here..." As Hershlin said this, a faint purple fog seemed to fill the room, Lucas shuddering at, before rushing towards the door all the quicker... Hershlin's pok'emon couldn't take much more of this! He had to let Damian in...! The fog even made the nasty little imp in the machine somewhat nervous, as the Sableye snickered in what seemed a nervous-seeming manner...Sentret was affected the most, chittering in a high-pitched manner from her 'perch', and pointing to a pair of glowing eyes just beyond the snoring Psyduck...Hershlin first got out an Awakening from his bag and sprayed it on his friend- being more worried about his compainon than himself at the point of time, before standing up straight and speaking to the glowing eyes- ovbiously not looking straight at them as he did so- asking in a firm manner, "Who...just who are you? I am Hershlin Kingston, and I will not simply stand here and let one attack my own compainon- or an innocent pok'emon-or living machine..whatever it is that I am standing next to...though I do not usually like fighting, I WILL fight you if you intend on doing acts that would harm others...! Pandora, Oregano...stand ready to attack, just in case something bad happens, my friends...protect the innocent, Lucas and Damian, if this...creature does not wish to solve things with a logical talk..." You could have cut the tension in the air with a knife as Hershlin waited for the unknown as-of-yet creature to say or do something...anything. |

.3 (Side note, yes, I do intend to give XP and happiness and stuff, but I'll hand all that out at the end of the story.) "Wedged?" Damian's muffled voice is audible to Lucas and Yang as they go toward the door. The poochyena stumbled a bit as he moved with Lucas, looking much the worse for wear at this point, but still determined. His nose worked busily, seeking their foes, and as the boy went to remove the first wedge, he spun on his good foreleg and lunged, catching the last sableye in the midsection with his fangs as it lunged toward the both of them, the sableye's claws raking down his back as he did so, causing both to collapse in a heap. Brave dog...but it bught enough time for Lucas to pull the wedges out...and defeated the second sableye as well. That left the eyes. Whatever they were. And the machine, which faltered again a moment...what damage the sableyes had managed to already do was still present. As this occured by the door, Hershlin pulled an awakening out and used it on the snoring psyduck, waking him in a moment. "Haun...ter..." The call whispered through the air... "Enough..." Psyduck swayed a bit, a glazed expression on his face, turning to face the whole group. "We free this one from enslavement..." With that, Psyduck swayed agains slightly, shaking his head, a momentarily confused expression replacing the glazed expression, then comprehension and a touch of annoyance. "Pish...can't communicate herself so has to resort to possession..." Only Hershlin catches that bit, as if the Psyduck inadvertently projected to those nearest. Sentret chitters a bit on the backpack, tail whirling in frustration. The egg...the egg..! She can tell it's about to hatch soon, and this is such a bad time for that to happen...her gaze darts around the room for the angry spectre, as she continues to cover the young egg with her body. The last wedge is pulled from the door and it swings open as the apparition appears in all it's glory, striking viciously at the machine. "Haunter!!" Damian stands in the doorway, blinking as the machine literally screams at the blow, the lights going out in the room, leaving half of it in darkness. With the door open, the sunlight streams in from the hallway, keeping it from being completely dark again, at least... "Navi!" Damian yelps, charging for the machine, heedless of the risk to himself. The machine coughs and sputters, as Psyduck speaks up urgently to Hershlin and Lucas. "The machine..it's...well, is both alive...and a pokemon. It possessed the machine...and now cannot leave it, having been there so long...it literally is the machine now..." No wonder the pokedex was having issues. The pokemon wasn't exactly a pokemon any more...there isn't much time for any other talk, though, as the Haunter snarls and lunges toward Damian, intent on preventing him from reaching the machine. ![]() ~ Trying to 'free' the machine/pokemon ~ Intent on stopping Damian from reaching the machine/pokemon |

(( = .3 I'm sorry that Hershlin is being a tad predictable here and trying to reason with Haunter before battling it- but he dislikes fighting- especially in a situation where his compainons could get really badly injured- and if the situation has even the slightest chance of being solved rationally, he'll try it.Number of posts fire egg needs to hatch: 1!)) Lucas hurried to the door as quickly as his legs could carry him as Hershlin spoke to the unknown, creep and fright-inducing pair of eyes that had just used Hypnosis on Psyduck~ the young lad thought this constant onslaught of events was just too much, and he just wanted it to stop...and another reason why he was rushing was because he saw full well Yang had taken a bad bit of damage from his last encounter with the pesky Sableye duo- and because he liked pok'emon so much, he didn't want Yang to get hurt more- or worse, to be fainted- because the dark-type had been protecting him. Lucas shuddered at the very thought of this- he didn't want a pok'emon to faint itself trying to protect him...for he would feel nothing but guilt at the pok'emon's fainting, knowing that it was partially his fault that the pok'emon had fainted~ partially his fault that the pok'emon had suffered. The last reason was because he was just as worried for the safety of the pok'emon...or machine that had recieved the brunt of the two imp's attacks as much as Hershlin was..and since he didn't know a thing about machinery, he had a fairly good idea that Damian was probably the only one that could help end the poor innocent's suffering. Speaking of Damian, he could hear his muffled voice a bit clearer as he and the Poochyena darted towards the door-however, the pok'emon following him seemed to be struggling slightly to keep up due to injuries~ but despite the damage he'd taken, Yang still kept a determined face, apparently still not wishing to give in just yet...Lucas bent down once he reached the door, grabbing the first wedge and tugging at it as hard as possible- but as he did this, he saw an all-too fammilar pok'emon re-appear form the shadows, claws poised and ready to strike at him...! However, Yang had been prepared for the nasty little imp to show it's face again and try to stop them it seemed, for the dark-type spun around with a surprising speed and snapped his jaws: managing a clear hit, but the close contact meant that the Sableye's attack connected as well- and both pok'emon fell down in defeat. Lucas's eyes went wide in horror, he saying, "Y-yang?! N-no...Hershy...Yang fainted...an-and it's all my fault..." The boy sniffled miserably, looking as if he was about to burst into tears at this point, but Hershlin said gently, "My boy- Yang made his sacrifice so you could unblock the door. If you do not make hast in unblocking the door..would not his sacrifice have been for nothing? And also- I doubt he'd want you to feel bad. He'd want you to stay strong as he had..." Lucas wiped away a tear, saying, "Yo-you're right...I have to get this door open. F-for Yang's sake.." Thus, the boy turned back to his job at hand, working more determinedly than ever to get the wedges out, fuelled on by the information Hershlin had imparted to him and Yang's sacrifice. Hershlin tempoarily diverted his attention from the pair of eyes to say to Yang, "You fought valiantly. Thank you..." Although it was unlikely that the pup would hear his words, what with being fainted and all- Hershlin was at the same time- proud for Yang's defense of Lucas, and yet sad that his pok'emon friend had fainted: mixed feelings indeed. The gentleman recalled the pup quickly: but thankfully, he did have some Revives at hand. He could restore his compainon so he wasn't fainted anymore with one of those~but for the Revive to actually work, he needed to have Yan gclose by him, which is why he recalled the pooch- so he could let the pup back out and restore him without moving from his current post and endagering his own- not to mention the machine pok'emon's-health and safety. Hershlin re-let out the pup, the dark-type now being right near him as Psyduck was, and got out a revive, spraying the contents of the yellow vial on his compainon. He had the feeling that he and Lucas were going to need all the help they could get- for he didn't feel as if this was over. No, those eerily glowing eyes were sure proof of that. But the most pressing matter at hand was getting Damian in here- Hershlin could tell from the machine's now frequent falterings that the damage the Sableyes had done to it so far was still present. The gentleman briefly wondered if spraying a Potion on it would do any good, but quickly dismissed THAT idea. For one, it might do more harm than good. And that was the least thing he wanted- he wanted to help this innocent, not do more harm to it. As Hershlin got out a Revive to use on Yang, after spraying the Poochyena with the item, he then proceeded to administer the awakening on Psyduck, which snapped him out of his stupor very quickly indeed~but just then, a call that sent chills down Lucas's spine as he kept at his 'work' whispered through the air- the call of another ghost. Irony of ironies, this ghost was one Herhslin knew a fair deal about- after all, he'd been saved as a boy by it's pre-evolution. Haunter..the gentleman however, had little time to react on this disovery as Psyduck suddenly 'spoke'~ but in a voice that sounded entierly different than his own. It wasn't like him at all- as if he was being..possessed! Hershlin suddenly clicked- the Haunter must be 'answering' his question the only way it could- by tempoarily taking control of someone else. The possessed Psyduck said that enough was enough- and that they were freeing 'this one' from enslavement~ by which Hershlin guessed the ghost meant the creature inside the mahcine. But- just how would one go about doing THAT? Hershlin worriedly glanced at Psyduck, whom swayed again slightly- before the glazed, zombie-like look in his eyed faded, the water-type looking confused for a few moments before registering what had happened, and then looking rather annoyed at the whole thing as he 'said' only to Hershlin- thankfully sounding like himself as he did so-that the gentleman's thoughts that Haunter had briefly 'possessed' him were true indeed- for Psyduck explained that it couldn't communicate herself. Her? Oh boy- if this wasn't already ironic enough as it was...the haunter just HAD to be a female, didn't it? However, the pok'emon has yet to reveal it's face, which is worrying- as is it's speech about 'freeing' the pok'emon inside the mahcine. Hershlin doesn't like the idea of enslavement as much as the next kindly soul- but something about the way the ghost described it didn't do any favours for his sense of foreboding..it apparently didn't do any favours for Sentret's sense of foreboding either, as the normal-type was chittering more than ever, tail lashing not unlike that of an angry cat, her eyes darting about the room..but just then, Hershlin understood a little bit of WHY the Sentret was so nervous, as his bag gave a resounding heave that he felt very well~ the egg! It must be very close to hatching to move around like that...and Sentret must have sensed this. With the powerful evolution around, hershlin could now fully understand why the normal-type was nervous...and now he felt a little nervous, too. He didn't want the little one in his bag to get involved in a horrible fight. Plus, his own team looked like they had all had enough at this point- so he was going to try and reason with the ghost. For his compainon's sakes...but if the innocent continued to be harmed, he would continue to fight, though he now- more than ever- wished for a peaceful resolution. Lucas finally pulled the last wedge from the door as Hershlin tensly waited with his pok'emon~ and as the door swung open, Haunter decided to finally show her face, striking vicously at the machine- so fast, that all Damian and Hershlin could do was blink in a mix of shock and horror as the machine screamed in pain- and the lights all went out in the room, leaving half of it in pitch-black darkness. However, thankfully- since the door was open, it prevented the room from being unseeable in, at least- however, the machine looked like it had suffered greatly from the last hit, spluttering and coughing in a violent-seeming manner...Hershlin looks to Damian worriedly- only to see the young lad rush towards the machine, with little heed for himself...it is then that Psyduck explains that both Hershlin AND Lucas were right in their assumptions of the machine- for it was both a living machine and a pok'emon. Apparently, the pok'emon had possessed the machine long ago- and because it had been in it for so long, it could not leave wether it wished to or not~ for it litteratly WAS the machine now. Lucas's mouth drops- but he doesn't get a chance to comment, as the ghost lunges-snarling vicously-at Damian, intent on stopping him from reaching the machine. Hershlin says, " Haunter may not KNOW that attacking the mahcine..will not free the pok'emon inside- but just hurt it: and I am guessing that if the machine is damaged beyond repair....the pok'emon inside will perish and not be saved at all...we must try one last time to solve things reasonably, my friends...for your own sakes...but if Haunter will not listen to reason.. then Psyduck- use Confusion and Water Pulse. Pandora- use Powder Snow and Hail. When Yang wakes up- i'll ask him to use Embargo and Bite. Oregano- Solar Beam. Psyduck, Pandora...if we have to fight, try to keep Haunter distracted long enough so Oregano can fully charge his Solar Beam before using it- if those Sableye reacted so badly to a WEAK Solar Beam, imagine what a full-power one might do..." Hershlin turned to Pandora, saying, "We need to get Haunter's attention~ fire a Water Gun to divert her attention from Damian so I can try to reason with her...don't make it too strong. I want to try and reason- not make her angrier." If Pandora's attack managed to divert the ghost's attention, Hershlin would say, "Haunter! Please...listen to me for a moment. A moment is all I ask...now. I like to keep my compainons out of their balls, for I enjoy seeing them have their freedom- and I would be just as upset as you are now if one of them were trapped. However~Psyduck informed me that he just found out, through the pok'emon in the machine's own 'mouth': that it possessed the machine apparently of it's own free will. If it is happy where it is- would it not be cruel to wrench it away from it's home? I also heard- that even if the pok'emon inside WANTED to leave- it cannot now- for it has possessed the mahcine so long now...that it is a part of it. It would be impossible, therefore to 'free' it as you intend- your attacks will only hurt the poor thing, and I doubt you want to see a fellow pok'emon be hurt...and if the mahcine is damaged beyond repair...I don't want to think about what may happen to the poor creature inside! Therefore...it is probably better to leave this alone...but if you insist on continuing to attack the innocent, I shall intervene with my compainons- no matter HOW strong you might be." Hopefully- if he got the ghost's attention- it would be willing to at LEAST hear him out... |

.3 (*chuckles* Predictable or not, if it's in character to try, well...I've had characters who would do the same, myself.) The egg gave another violent lurch, obviously in the throes of hatching, the pack warming considerably as the pack twitched in reaction to the occupatn's attempts to escape. Sentret squealed warningly at both the haunter and the machine, as Yang coughed, blinking muzzily where he lay, trying to figure out what had happened exactly. Last he recalled, he'd been by the door, satisfactorly closing his jaws around that blasted sableye...and now he was beside Hershlin, the door was open, Damian was charging toward the machine. It was a bit much to take in... Oregano moved cautiously closer to the doorway, starting to gather light already, not wanting to be too late a second time. The chikorita was understandably nervous, considering Yang's defeat, but...he didn't want to let his teammates down again... Pandora shot a jet of water across between Damian and the haunter, causing the ghost to snarl and spin on the playful little seal pokemon. It at least stopped the attack on Damian, but it seemed that she wasn't going to listen to any sort of reason. The machine sparked and sputtered, coughing. It didn't look good on that front, as Damian quickly tried to assess the damage done, patting it gently as he struggled to stem the damage. Electricity arced dangerously close to the young man, but almost seemed to direct itself away from actually hitting him. A small pool of oil leaking form a poriton of the machine seemed eerily like blood in the half-light. And the haunter was on the warpath. Hershlin's attempts to placate her seemed to fall on deaf ears as she fell on Pandora. "Haunter!! Haun haun ter haunter..." she rumbled as she closed her hands before her in a somewhat strangling motion, a shroud of darkness closing about the spheal, causing Pandora to shriek with pain. Yang struggled to his feet, as Psyduck closed his eyes, worming his own mind into the Haunter's this time instead of the other way around, severing synapses as he went, inhaling in preparation of sending a blast of water as well, to further confuse the matter. The dark pup snarled a curse toward the haunter, a glow surrounding her momentarily, as she gathered a handful of darkness and flung it at Psyduck with a growl. He countered with his charge of water, or tried to, the powerful pulse blasting through the water, diminishing some of hte power, but not dispersing it, and the water pokemon was knocked flat on his back a moment. Yang charged for the infuriated ghost, teeth bared, only to skid to a halt as a blast of light and snow simultaneously slammed into the ghost from the direction of the doorway. She shrieked in fury as the energy slammed her into the far wall. As the light died, she was nowhere to be seen. The wall was battered terribly by the beam of light, frost coating the edges of the damage. Pandora seemed to deflate after she finished the Powder Snow, whimpering softly to herself. That had hurt... "'Better dead than trapped in a human prison...' That's what she said..." Psyduck righted himself, relaying that to the rest of the group. Yang backed toward the others, ears still flat against his skull, limping a bit still, as the revive didn't heal all his injuries. "Haunter..." The hiss was laced with pain and anger, echoing from every corner of the room. She was wounded, but still not defeated. "Hang on now..." Damian moved toward another portion of the machine, as it contiued to falter. The ghost phased through the wall directly behind him and the machine, casting a faint shadow that seemed to extend toward the pair... ~~~~~~~~~~~ Haunter is making ready to use Destiny Bond. React however you want. |

(( = .3 I don't know if Kiyo and Lucas's sudden spurt of bravery on their part will even work...but like Hershlin, I really hope it does...The Fire egg is about to hatch!)) As Hershlin stood, tense where he was postioned as he waited to see what consequences his actions would have this turn, Lucas ran over to his compainon's side with Kiyo- mainly because this whole situation was doing nothing but creeping him out further and further- and the poor boy was shivering in petrification at this point, that was how bad it was all affecting him. He just wanted it to all stop~and for the machine/pok'emon to be safer and for Hershlin's pok'emon to not have to worry about being harmed anymore- but just how many more sacrifices would it take before this..nightmare of a situation was over? He didn't want to see any more of Hershlin's compainons suffer- or for Damian to get hurt because he was just trying to help them protect the hybrid machineish-pok'emon. But- despite the boy being sick of seeing others suffer in all this, he slowly felt his bavery return at standing near Hershlin- which was the main reason he'd ran over to him. He was tired of being scared and doing nothing~even if his only compainon was too low-levelled to battle. If he could aid Hershlin and Damin's efforts in some small way- through encouragement or his optomisim- then he'd be happy...but he wouldn't put Kiyo into the whole situation unless he really had no other choice in the matter, and the Wynaut was willing to help. As Lucas joined Hershlin's side, the gentleman smiled ever so-slightly despite the situation- for having his compainon next to him seemed to give him only mroe determination. This wasn't the only thing that gave him courage- for he felt his bag lurch violently, it seeming to get all the warmer~ the egg seemed like it was about to hatch with these actions it seemed to be making. And Hershlin didn't want an innocent baby to see something as awful as this- so that was why it gave him more determination to either try and talk reasonably to the Haunter and end all this, or faint it...but he didn't want to do the last option unless he had no other choice in the matter. As Sentret clung ever more protectivly to the egg, the effects of the Revive took place, Yang coughing slightly before blinking in a confused-looking way. The pup probably registered this confusion because of everything that was going on at the moment~honestly, this whole entourage of events made a cliche'd soap opera look tame by comparison. Hershlin said to to Yang, "I'm glad to see that the Revive worked...Lucas was quite concerned about you. Hmmm- it seems it didn't restore your health completly, though...I'll have to use a Potion once we all get a bit of a break in this unforseen line of events..." As the gentleman tried to explain to his compainon what was going on here, and what moves he wanted Yang to use if the Haunter wasn't willing to listen to reason, he saw Oregano move slowly to the doorway, his leaf beggining to glow with that fammilar soft light already- though the grass-type still seemed a little scared, there was a determination in his eyes Hershlin had not seen before- perhaps he, too, had been saddened like Lucas of Yang's fainting, and it was spurring him into further actions too? Hershlin did not know. He just hoped that his compainons- all of them- were as ready as they could be, for winning a battle agianst an evolved pok'emon - if things came to that- would be most certainly hard...Hershlin's thoughts were then quickly moved back to the matter at hand as Pandora shot a quick Water Gun at the ghost like he'd asked~ intterupting the spirit's advance on Damian, which was a good thing...but it seemed there was a bad thing in result of this sudden attack, for the ghost seemed quite angry despite Hershlin's warnings not to make the attack TOO strong- somehow, Hershlin didn't think the ghost would want to listen to anything he said...but he would try anyway. As he spoke to the ghost, Lucas looked over worriedly at the machine- which didn't look too hot at the moment, sparking electricity dangerously as Damian patted it ina kindly-looking manner, trying to see what he could do- but the electricity always arced away formt he young man. He and the pok'emon/machine must be very close..and Lucas felt all ounces of his previous fear dissapear at this touching scene in the middle of chaos~ it made him all the more determined to try and help both the man and his friend out. Lucas knew he'd be sad if anyone hurt his friends beyond help- and he bet Damian would feel the same way. And the man had been so nice to him and Hershlin...so the least they could do was try to protect the man and his friend. Lucas just hoped them protecting the machine would help- because the poor thing looked really badly injured at this point.. As Hershlin finished talking to the ghost, much to his sadness- it seemed all his attempts to solve things reasonably fell on deaf ears as the malovent creature attacked Pandora with a nasty-looking Night Shade- well, it least, it looked like a Night Shade. The attack badly hurt the little Spheal, causing her to cry out in pain, and Hershlin said, "Fine- if that's the way it is...we shall fight!" Turning to Pandora, he gently said, "Don't worry, my friend...I won't let you- or anyone else- faint again in this sitaution. Even if I have to use every single ONE of my potions.." As Hershlin gently re-assured the young one, Yang struggled to his feet- and Psyduck glowed a soft purple light as he connected with his hidden psychic powers, before opening his eyes and transferring the glow to the ghost, whom seemed hurt by the attack. However, as he prepared his Water Pulse, the evolved pok'emon suddenly flung a Shadow Ball at the water-type while Psyduck was slightly off-guard. The water-type tried to block the attack with his Water Pulse- which diminished some of the power of the move, but despite his best efforts, he still got hit by the Shadow Ball, and was knocked flat on his back for a moment. Yang attempted to charge the ghost- but his charge suddenly halted half-way, which earned a confused look from Lucas. Why had he stopped..? The answer to this came a few seconds later, as Oregano's Solar Beam- combined with Pandora's Powder Snow- slammed into the ghost, whom shrieked in irate anger as the sheer force of the attacks slammed her against the wall. However, as the light faded...the ghost had vanished, earning a 'Darn it all...' from Hershlin. Unlike the Sableyes, Haunter would not be lured out by a pok'edex beeping when it was hiding- so the ghost had a slight advantage at this point. However, a soft whimper form Pandora turned Hershlin's attention back to his pok'emon - both Yang and Pandora looked badly hurt. As the gentleman got out two Super Potions, spraying one on Yang and one on Pandora once she was close enough, Psyduck righted himself, saying that haunter had said to him, 'that the innocent one was betetr off dead than trapped in a human prison'...Hershlin shook his head, sighing sadly, commenting, "Why is it...that so many trainers must hurt wild pok'emon in such ways? Perhaps if Haunter had not been hurt by a human in the past, this probably would never have happened...this only gives me more incentive to continue my travels as far as possible, and try to inform as many people of the 'right' way to befriend and catch pok'emon as I can..." The gentleman's words were suddenly innterupted again as the Haunter hissed- it's voice echoing from seemingly every corner of the room. Apparently- despite Hershlin throwing his pok'emon's strongest moves at it- it still was not down..Lucas suddenly jolted his attention away from Hershlin, whom was looking more determined than ever despite the ghost being strong~for he had just seen the ghost phase through the wall right behind Damian and the machine- and it was casting a shadow that seemed to be extending towards the pair...Lucas turned to Kiyo, hugging his friend, saying, "I'm so sorry I have to do this...but we can't just LET that ghosty attack Damian! Get in there, quick...and use Destiny Bond!" the Wynaut nodded- he agreed with Lucas. And besides...he was sick of being scared too! It was time to be brave...even if this braverry ended up in a sacrifice on his part...the baby pok'emon suddenly leapt out of Lucas's arms- attempting to cut off the shadow before it could reach Damian and the machine so the move would affect HIM instead- and then, he would try to use Destiny Bond before the ghost had a chance to react to his apperance. Hershlin's eyes went wide in shock as he saw this, saying, "What in Arcues's name...?!" Lucas suddenly spoke up, saying, "I...I want to help too...even if it means me and Kiyo have to make sacrifices...but if Yang made a sacrifice for me..I think it's only fair I repay the favour..." Hershlin said, quite moved by the bravery of his friend and his pok'emon, "My friend....such actions are very noble on both your part and Kiyo's...I...wish the best of luck to you...oh!" The gentleman suddenly turned to his bag, eyes even wider, and he said, "Dearie me...I think...the egg is about to hatch. Lucas...I must help the little one out of my bag. Please be careful...and Yang, Pandora, Oregano! Help Lucas out if he asks you to...even though he is not your trainer." The gentleman then turned his attention to his bag, opening it up slightly so the egg could get some air- and so he could help it hatch if it needed such help. Lucas turned to Hershy's pok'emon, and says, "If Kiyo manages to stop that...creepy-looking attack from Haunter in time, and use his own move...that would be nice! But- if he needs a distraction in order to get his own move in, I want you guys to use your most powerful attacks against Haunter- but only if Kiyo is able to block Haunter's first attack. I dunno what that attack Haunter is using IS..but I think it'd be really bad for it to hit Damian and his buddy!" ((Luigi's out of character note: Hershy's pok'emon's most powerful attacks are the ones they used last turn, if you want to know.)) |

.4 Certainly nobody had expected this. Not haunter, not Hershlin or any of his pokemon, not even the moderator. The egg shuddered and Sentret leapt clear of the backpack, scuttling between Hershlin and the haunter, standing guard, as Kiyo charged forward, sending his own shadow out ahead of him in an attempt to intercept the haunter's own, the two merging just inches from Damian as he worked on the machine hurriedly. With Yang and Pandora being tended by the potions, the only two free to respond in time were Oregano and Psyduck. Psyduck sent another blast of psychic energy into the ghost's mind, causing her to shriek, and flail, as the two shadows merged into one, connecting the young pokemon and the infuriated ghost as if they were one being. Oregano once again began to gather the light in the doorway to himself...but it was still a time consuming process. The haunter squealed, flailing as she lunged toward Damian, and Oregano fired the Solarbeam in alarm, though the ghost pulled back craftily as soon as the grass pokemon did so, leaving the beam of light with one target, Damian. Yang snarled in horrified fury that this creature had tricked his Alpha so and charged, heedless of whether or not he'd been fully healed yet, clamping his jaws shut around the ghost, as Psyduck sent a blast of roiling water hot on the pup's heels, knocking the ghost further back. Then again, the unexpected, as little Kiyo jumped straight up into the Solarbeam, getting knocked back into damian by the power of the attack, the shadow still connecting him to the Haunter snapping violently back on the ghost, causing her to scream in mortal agony and vanish from sight again. Damian caught the wynaut with a startled shout, looking down at the little pokemon, as the egg shattered entirely, leaving what initially appeared to be a glob of magma sitting in it's place. The blob shook, sending the remaining egg fragments flying, a pair of eyes blinking open, looking up at Hershlin cheerfully, totally unaware of the chaos that had just happened. "Slugma..." it cooed, happily. Sentret hopped onto Hershlin's shoulder, squeaking a welcome, though she cast nervous glances over toward where the Haunter had been, and where Damian stood, looking at Kiyo. After a moment, the young man moves over to Lucas to return the brave little fellow to him. "I think he'll be all right...thank you." He moves back toward the machine once more, touching it with one hand ans smiling faintly. "Navi does, too..." With that, he was gone, as if he'd never been there either, leaving all of you alone in the room with the faintly humming machine, as if the whole mess had never occured...if it weren't for the damage still visible along the side of the machine from the haunter's attack...it could have all been a dream. (45 told me the egg was a Slugma. As you hatched it, you get to choose which gender. *nodnods* Kiyo is just unconscious, not dead. I hope it was all right to take a bit of liberty, there, but since he was already planning on intercepting the Destiny Bond, and such, I figured he'd do similar with the Solarbeam. Yang, Oregano and Pandora get 1 EXP each for defeating the two sableye. Those three and Psyduck gain 2 EXP for fighting the haunter. They each also gain 2 . Should finish this up in another post or two.I do hope that the slight liberties with Kiyo's blocking the Solarbeam was all right...I figured that as he was already intercepting one attack for Damian, he'd do the same for another.) (( = .3 Sorry I wasn't able to reply until now- I had to do a major overhaul updating Hershy's profile yesterday with all this new stuff. Also~ although it's nice of you to offer .4 exp to me, I cannot exept it. Why? Because I think it says someplace in the rules that normal members like me can only get a maximum of .3 exp for posts...and i'd rather be honest, thanks buddy.)) As Hershlin turned his attention to the egg in his backpack, which was shaking so much it looked like it might implode, he could not help shaking his head and smiling slightly- both Kiyo and Lucas were doing a very honourable thing- willing to put themselves in great risk to defend Damian. If he had the chance, Hershlin knew he would have done the same thing, though~but right now, the son-to-be newest member of his team needed his assistance. All he could do was listen and watch partially in to what happened..and hope and pray to Arceus that Lucas, Kiyo and his own pok'emon would be able to take that Haunter down- though the ghost's plans and ideas might be seen as malovent and cruel to some- Hershlin could somewhat understand the logic behind the ghost's 'ideas' but said logic had been twisted and contorted so much it was like pure madness now~ and this only made knowing that they would have to take the ghost down all the more upsetting. Humans were supposed to be 'partners' with pok'emon in Hershlin's eyes- to help and guide them, and aid them in beccoming stronger~ not do acts of such cruelty that Hershlin could only imagine must have been done to this particular ghost to make it despise human 'slavery' so much. If people knew what horrid consequences mis-treating others could do...Hershlin bet they wouldn't do them as much. So, the whole ordeal was giving him more determination to spread information and guidance on such matters in the future to as many fellow trainers as possible. But sadly, Hershlin also knew that some folk would not want to listen, no matter how hard he might try- like him trying to reason with Haunter here. Speaking of which- the gentleman lifted his head from looking at his bag as he felt Sentret leap off it, standing between him and the Haunter~ as if she intended to fight, too, if the ghost came anywhere near. Hershlin was quite moved by this- though Normal-types didn't usually have any advantages over ghosts attack wise, Sentret was willing to put herself at risk to protect the egg. It seemed that Lucas and Kiyo's show of bravery might have affected those watching a little, too...but Hershlin just hoped that no more innocents would have to be struck down to take down this powerful evolved pok'emon. Lucas clenched his fists tensely as Kiyo ran forth and sent out his shadow to counter the Hautner's own shadowy attack- and only just in time, for the shadow of the Haunter and the Wynaut merches only mere seconds away from Damian as he continued to see to his compainon's injuries. The boy shuddered slightly~ that had just been too close for comfort. He had to do his best to make sure that something like that didn't happen again: because although he was an optomist, he knew very well that next time Haunter tried to send an attack Damian's way, and they were only just ready- they might not be so lucky in deflecting the move so Damian didn't get harmed. As he watched on, it seemed both Yang and Pandora were busy being healed by Hershlin's Super Potions -which thankfully, he'd been smart enough to stock well up on before coming into this place - so that left Oregano and Psyduck in the fray. The pok'emon that reminded Lucas of Hershlin's own personality was the first to move, sending another volley of purple waves at the ghost, causing it to shriek- momentarily distracted- and Kiyo used this to advantage, managing to finish his Destiny Bond because of the potent psychic attack: connecting both his and Haunter's life forces. Now if one fainted- so would the other. Lucas suddenly clicked onto something, gasping- the shadowy move Haunter had used had looked exactly the same to Kiyo's Destiny Bond. So...the ghost was apparently trying to take Damian down too, if she went down in defeat? What a spiteful creature...Lucas was astonished that any pok'emon would go so low in the first place to attack a human- someone who could not fight back or defend well against elemental attacks like those pok'emon owned. Really....someone must have hurt the ghost very badly in her past to mess her up THIS bad. For a second, Lucas felt pity on the ghost- but then he was quickly reminded of the horrible things the ghost had done to Damian's buddy, and tried to do to Damian himself- and he focused back on the battle very quickly indeed. As he did this, he saw the fammilar glow nearby of Oregano charging up his Lazerz...errr...Solar Beam~ but just as it seemed the glow had jsut started, the nasty spirit pok'emon lunged towards Damian yet again, forcing Oregano to fire his beam early- but horror of horrors, the ghost pulled back, leaving the beam of powerful light with only one target...Damian. Lucas said, mouth dropping in a mixture of shock and appalled horror, "HEY! Y-you big jerk! And I thought you trying to Destiny Bond Mister Damian was low enough...!" Even Hershlin spoke out angrily, diverting his attentions from the egg again to say, "That was a downright despcible action, you scoundrel!" Yang was the most angry out of all those who saw the dirty tactic, and snapped in irate fury, snapping his jaws onto the ghost in pure hate so fast that the spectral being had little chance of doding, and the Poochyena's vicous assualt was followed soon after by a blast of rolling water from psyduck, which knocked the ghost further back~ but the ever-looming Solar Beam was getting closer, ever closer to Damian and his compainon- and as fast as Lucas racked his brain, he couldn't think of a way to stop it...but just when it seemed like things were hopeless, Kiyo reacted so quickly, so unexpectedly that both Hershlin and Lucas's eyes went wide in shock~ he deliberatly jumped straight up into the path of the Solarbeam, the sheer force of the powerful move knocking him back into Damian. Lucas said, "Kiyo...buddy..." sadly, but the Wyanut's taking of the move had a positive side~ because he had fainted, the power of his Destiny Bond took affect, the shadow that was connecting him to haunter suddenly snapping and hitting the ghost violently, whom shrieked in an unearthly, banshee-like wail as she vanished from sight altogether. Hershlin took his top-hat off respectfully at the falling of the Wynaut, saying, "Lucas...Kiyo...such selfless actions were brave, so brave...and it was only because of you that Haunter is gone now." Lucas said, "I th-think Kiyo deserves praise mo-more than I do..." Hershlin said thoughtfully, "True, he leapt into the Solar Beam of his own will. But- if it were not for you asking him to counter Haunter's Destiny Bond with one of his own...things could have ended a lot differently. You both deserve equal praise, I believe.." Lucas nodded, accepting this logic- before looking over worriedly where his compainon had fell- but thankfully, Damian's reflexes were fast, and he caught the pok'emon~ but just as this happened, the egg Hershlin had just turned his attentives back to shattered like a cheap porcliean vase hit with the force of a baseball bat, leaving...a puddle of magma? Hershlin raised an eyebrow curiously, wondering just how a pool of magma could sit in his bag and not burn a hole right through it- but maybe whatever pok'emon this was could control it's own heat, despite it being only just hatched? This question put forth another question- just what sort of pok'emon was this? This question was soon answered as the blob shook itself off, sending what remained of the eggshell flying off also, before a pair of creamy-white eyes were revealed in two bits of the magma that seemed taller than the others, which looked to Hershlin in what seemed a happy manner~ completly oblivious to what had just happened just behind it, of course. It WAS only a baby, after all. The pok'emon cooed to Hershlin happily, and it was then that Hershlin deduced this was a Slugma. It sounded from the tone of it's voice like it was a Male, too. Smiling to the little one, he said, "Hello there~ it's so very nice to meet you, little one." Despite the fact it was made from magma, Hershlin found himself outstretching a right hand to pat the creature- and he was surprised to feel that the pok'emon didn't burn him at all. The creature cooed again, before sliming itself around Hershlin's hand in a hug-like gesture, nuzzling his arm happily. Hershlin had to supress a chuckle- that tickled very badly. The little fellow seemed very affectionate- or maybe the lava slug thought that he was it's dad, as Hershlin was the first living thing the pok'emon saw? Lucas looked over for a moment, smiling at the pok'emon- though he wondered why Hershlin was able to touch it without being burnt, to be honest. But..his attention went back to Kiyo quickly, as he was worried about his compainon- was he okay? Was he just fainted...or something far worse? As Lucas watched on, he had been about to move over to Kiyo when Damian did that for him, bringing the little Wynaut over as Sentret squeaked a welcome to the slug, whom blinked at the scout pok'emon before bubbling in a fit of happy lauaghter, before attempting to slide over and 'hug' the Sentret as well. Oh boy...and he didn't even know the pok'emon! It seemed the youngest member of Hershlin's team was just as - if not moreso- naive than Pandora was. But oh well- Hershlin felt very happy to have such a freindly little fellow on his team, even if many people...didn't really LIKE Slugma for some weird reason, which he didn't understand, to be honest. Any pok'emon could be a good team-mate and compainon if you were willing to care for and guide it~ for example, a Magikarp is a good way to upset particularly strong opponents if it held an item that prevented it fainting in one turn, and knew Flail! He just hoped his other team-mates would like Slugma too, and not feel like the baby would be taking all their attention..the gentleman's thoughts were soon changed to Lucas as Damian brought Kiyo over and placed the psychic-type in the boy's arms. Lucas said, "Thanks for bringing Kiyo over, Mister Damian...will your buddy be okay?" Hershlin looked on concernedly, saying, "Yes...your compainon took a fair bit of damage, back there. I am concerned too!" Damian answered both of their queries, saying he thought his friend would be alright, before thanking them in a utmost apprecitive manner, before moving back towards the machine once more, touching it with one hand and smiling faintly before saying that 'Navi' had thanked them too. Hershlin smiled, and had been about to say something else- but just after Damian finished speaking, he was gone...as if he had never been there either. Lucas blinked, before moving to the spot Damian had been, clutching Kiyo close to him as he said, "Mister Damian? Miiister Damiannn? Whe-where'd you go..?" But it seemed no matter how much Lucas called, damian would not re-appear. The boy turned to Hershlin, saying, "Where'd he go, Hershy? This is weird...it's like everything that just happened was just a dream or somethin'- but it CAN'T have been! Kiyo wouldn't have fainted form just a dream- and look! Navi's still damaged along the side from Haunter's last attack on it...this is weirrrd." Hershlin looked around, Oregano shivering in confusion next to him, before saying, "Hmmm...maybe he was a ghost, too...? It's a shame he vanished like that...such a nice young man, really...I would have liked to get to know him a little more, but~ I am very glad that we got to help him and his friend." The gentleman smiled, before turning to Yang, Oregano, Pandora and Psyduck, saying, "You were all very brave- I am very proud of all of your efforts, really. Also- this is the newest compainon on our team, Nicholai." Lucas blinked, saying, "Oh? You already thought of a nice nickname? Well...Nicholai seems to fit pretty well, and the other pok'emon seem happy to meet him.." The boy then reeled, saying in shock, "Oh! I remembered somethin'! Remember how Mister Damian said people were staying away from this place because of feeling a 'creepy presence'? D'you think...that now the Sableye and that Haunter been beaten- that people will come here again? Like Mister Damian hoped they would?" Hershlin said, "I don't know- but I surely hope so, Lucas. One can hope, can't they? Kiyo needs to be revived, though- and it is getting a little late, I believe. As much as I would like to stay and see if we have helped Damian out with that one last thing before going~ your compainon deserves to be healed for his sacrifice, at the very least. We must go." Lucas said, "Okay..but wait! I wanna do one last thing before we go...please?" Hershlin asked, quzically, "What is it you wish to do...?" His words trailed off, and he broke into a beaming smile as Lucas went over to the machine/pok'emon and hugged as best he could while still carrying Kiyo, saying, "Bye-bye, Navi. You and Mister Damian take care, okay? If we're passing through the area, I promise we'll come in and see you two again, okay?" After giving the hybrid this kind farewell,he re-joined Hershlin by his side, saying, "Okay- I said bye-bye. I'm ready when you are." Hershlin took off his top-hat and bowed at the machine, saying, "I bid you a fond farewell, also. Who knows? Maybe next time we meet, you might be surprised at how stronger we are! Hohoho~!" Hershlin chuckled, before turning to his compainons and saying, "Let us go back to the center..." However, he seemed to be forgetting one thing as he made ready to leave with Lucas, Kiyo and his pok'emon- his egg had hatched, so Sentret didn't have to stay with them anymore if she didn't want to- but would either side want to say farewell now, after everything that had happened? |

.3 (Must have typoed. *mutters* Tho, it is possible to get more than .3 as a player if you do something the modder thinks is awesome....like art posts or such. Or just an awesome post. Sorry about that. u.u) The machine, dubbed Navi by Damian sputtered slightly, but hummed in response, as the group of you gathered together, and oohed over the baby. Sentret danced attendance on the little pokemon, chittering happily at his cheerful nature. At least he hadn't been born into the middle of the mess... The place seems a bit different as you start back out, a bit dustier, emptier...but the foreboding gloom was gone entirely, and in the afternoon light, it almost seems to glow welcomingly now. A battered newspaper sat on a desk by the entrance, several years old by the look of it, and by the date, when checked. The headline is about a terrible fire at this very observatory, in which a pair of people perished. The fire had been determined to be arson, by one of the two killed, according to the article. This person had been protesting the observatory's technology, insisting that they enslaved pokemon and forced them to power the machinery, a claim proven patently false, but they refused to accept it. The other death was unfortunate, but apparently the young man had tried to stop the individual from setting the fire in the first place, and had delayed matters long enough to save the observatory, but not the lives of the two involved... The last paragraph indicates that the services for Damian Grace would be on tuesday. There was an address for sending condolences to the family...and another written in the margin between that article and the next, seemingly fairly new. Both were in Malral, neither very far from the observatory. A later check of Hershlin's pokedex would note a new entry as well...Rotom. (Yep, Navi is/was a Rotom, and the thing finally managed to figure it out eventually. You can record it as viewed, but can't catch this one. What you do from here on out is up to you.) |
