Way up in the sky, a boat was drifting along, scything slowly through the fluffy fog. Aris stood behind the wheel, smiling like a butcher's dog. He was truly free, as he had been not too long ago. He could go anywhere, do anything. Nobody could stop him. Or at least, they shouldn't be able to. At this point, though, Aris was moving just a little faster than walking speed. He'd hit some good air currents, and with a little help from the endlessly spinning propeller. He was moving northwest, headed for the Baconville Beach. They knew their boats there, and he could probably grab some sails no problem. And THEN he'd be unstoppable. For now, though, he was floating along. "Cynder, eyes open for anything worth blowing up, okay?" Shouted Aris to his Typhlosion, who was hanging over the railing watching the world go by below. Unclearable Fog Marsh 2 to Sinklands 2, and over and over that way until the Beach |

0.2 [Wasn't your Typhlosion named Burstra not too long ago? I liked that name.] Ah, the open skies. Aris was as free as a bird, pardon the pun. Go anywhere, do anything, am I right? Ship travel was much more efficient, and would make it much easier to get from Point A to Point B. And with such a powerful Pokemon like Cynder along for the ride, he truly was, in essence, unstoppable. But just like on land, Pokemon roam the skies. Many are peaceful, fun-loving creatures who aren't interested in being roasted to well-done by a Typhlosion looking for some fun. But, again, like on land, there were those who were... less than intelligent. Those who thought THEY were unstoppable. Oh, how silly they are. Oh look, here comes one now! The tiny but speedy brown bird, with wings fanned wide, was zipping across the skies at speeds completely unmatched by the flying ship. With beak pointed out proudly, it was making a beeline straight for the ship. Or, maybe it wasn't... something seemed to have caught its eye. Was it that balloon strapped to the top, carrying it along? The Spearow almost looked like it was wearing a smirk as it dove down, ready to pop that balloon... Team Rocket style. We're blasting off again, indeed. ![]() Level 41 82/82

.3 What are you smoking? I've never heard that name before. Up in the sky, there was a disturbance. "'Cause I'm free... free as a bird, now...." Aris muttered to himself, hunched over the wheel. He felt himself drifting off as his own ship, the very first slivers of sweet black sleep gnawing at the edges of his vision. And then, he heard a shout. It was Cynder at the head of the ship. "Shut up," mumbled Aris, slipping off to the ground. Cynder scoffed, and turned back to the incoming Spearow. It had been drawn in by the big, oh-so burst-able balloon keeping the boat afloat. Unfortunately, whatever Team Rocket would have you believe, hot-air balloons, the type that was strapped to this boat, did not shoot off into the sky when barely popped. The tiny bird could probably slice in and out of the big air-trap above for the next hour and the boat would do little more than drop a few feet. Either way, the ship looked much better when its balloon was completely hole-free. Cynder guzzled up some dredges of flame in her throat, formed her lips just so, and shot it all nice and focused at the incoming aerial attack. ![]() Lv. 53 106/106 (Focused Flamethrower) vs. ![]() Lv. 41 82/82 |

0.2 As the Spearow dove down through the air, it noticed Cynder on the deck on the ship for the first time. Then the sky was on fire. OH NOEZ! The Spearow cried. It suddenly twisted in the air, trying to avoid the attack. Unfortunately, a bit of the attack caught its rump and set the feathers alight. IMA PWN JOO! The bird screamed, spiraling down and busting into Cynder's side with a Drill Peck attack. But as well all know, Spearow aren't strong enough to knock over a Typhlosion, so it bonked its head and fell on to the deck of the ship like a lump. ![]() Level 53 95/106 VS ![]() Level 41 50/82 *Totally PWNT* Edited by Fantasy Shadow, Jan 20 2009, 04:05 PM.

.1 Aris approached the fallen avian carefully as Cynder returned to her ground-gazing. He leaned over it, poking and prodding at it to see if it would respond. Aris laughed. He fell over in the apparent hilarity of the situation. He rolled over onto his back, his laughter waning. The sky blurred oddly, clouds stretching and smearing, the sun growing wildly. Now that was odd. He tried to stand again, and stumbled wildly across the deck. He grabbed at the railing as he hung over the side of the ship. The ground was washing wildly over his vision. He squinted and things focused out. "Shit..." he mumbled. He turned back to the boat. The bird! Damn it! It was here! Fuck, fuck.... There was nothing else for it. He charged over to the murderous attacker, and grabbed it up by its wings. "YOU!" he shouted. He dangled it over the side of his flying boat. "YOU!" He grabbed a repel from his pocket. "AH!" he shouted as he sprayed it wildly at it. The stinging spray clouded over the distressed bird. Cynder looked on. "What are you doing?!" she asked. "You saw it! You heard it!" he retorted. Then, he lifted it over his shoulder and flung it down through the drifting mists towards the soggy ground below. "There we go... good, good, okay..." he muttered. He returned to the ship's head. "Let's get going, eh?" he said comfortably. Did some stuff. Back to heading to Baconville Beach by air. |

.3 Um. The bird squawked, flailing about as he was grabbed abruptly by the human, still trying to figure out the number of the truck he'd run into at that point, and then before he could adjust to this new development, had an incredibly noxiousl substance sprayed right into his face, dousing him in the reeking stench. Well, so much for wooing the ladies...with that scent, they won't be willing to get within a few miles. This assumes he survives the throwing out of the boat with scorched tailfeathers, blinded by the repel. The bird is tossed overboard, screaming his fool head off. In the swamp below, a large, dark cloud seems to break free of the mist as you contiue on, drifting up and then circling... They keep a safe distance, though, due to the remaining effects of the repel, as if waiting for you to drift out of the noxious fumes, or the winds to blow them away...circling...eyeing your boat almost greedily. Dangit. Where there's one spearow...there's often a flock. And this one seems rather ticked. Oh, and look, a fearow too. Or...two fearows, actually. Probably the parents of the whole mess... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ LOTS (Levels 10-20ish) Lv. 43 Lv. 38Circling the boat like vultures, kept away by the repel for the moment. |

.2 From the tip of the boat came the second round of shouts, these considerably more frantic than the earlier incarnation. A sudden rush swept over Aris from his spot behind the wheel. It was warm and comforting, and he felt everything rapidly settle in his mind. There was no more frantic rushing inside his head, that strange and sudden burst of fear melted away. He rubbed his head uncomfortably. It was so strange. He sighed, and headed up to the front of the ship with Cynder. "What's the deal, girl?" he asked. She gestured out over the boat, where a dark cloud of birds swooped by, looking particularly troubled. "What do they want? What're they doing?" she asked anxiously, shifting around uneasily and coughing up a few worrisome embers. "Probably something to do with that other Spearow. Where'd it go, by the way?" he responded questioningly. He leaned out over the railing, trying to distinguish between the different birds swooping around his boat. There were several smaller ones, probably Spearows like the one that had just disappeared. But, there were two very large ones, menacing and haggard Fearows. The nearest was looking particularly murderous and maternal, the other, eyes filled with pure blood-lust. He shuddered. "The other one... you sprayed a repel in its face and threw it over the side of the boat," said Cynder coldly. "I really don't believe you some times." "I didn't..." Aris began to mutter. But it seemed he had. There was the distinct smell of repel in the air. Why had he done it? "Well... that explains why they won't come near. We need to get them out of the way. Can you shoot them down? How many at once can you get?" Cynder just shook her head at him. "What do you think?" She twisted her neck around, and felt the soft warmth of a young fire flame up around her neck. She pulled it harder, and the flames grew. Aris stumbled back from the shocking heat of the large mane of flame blossoming around her neck. She opened her mouth, and a plume of lava soared over the side of the boat, where it landed dead center in the middle of the flock of circling birds. It sloshed through the feather and sinew, burning and scarring and blistering. Cynder just kept pouring it on. "Follow it up with a Flamethrower so none slip through," added Aris as an after-thought, mind still stuck on the strange information he had just received. Ugh, what was wrong with him.... ![]() Lv. 53 106/106 -Lava Plume and Flamethrower |

.3 Yeah, they weren't happy. And then came the plume of fire into their midst. Screams of pain echoed across the misty air, and spearows dropped into the mist like rain. The young birds in the flock couldn't stand up to the might of your companion, who outstripped them in power many times over. The two fearows, on the other hand, peeled off sharply, one to the right, the other to the left, screaming commands to what was left of their little flock. The few surviving spearows hared off into the mist, a few nursig scorched feathers, as Cynder turned her torch on the more dangerous of the two birds, the female, who twisted in an attempt to avoid the attack, but to no avail, shrieking as her featehr's burned, before opening her beak and unleashing a gout of fire of her own. Wait. What? The fearow engulfs Cynder in her own flames, as the two remaining birds circle, one on each side of the boat, to ensure that they can't both be targeted by the same attack. The male leers as he swoops around, the fading effects of that repel making them still reluctant to close too much yet... ~~~~~~~~~ Lv. 5397/106 -1 Def +.5 XP for general annihilation of flock birds vs. Lv. 4327/86 ~ Mirror Move'd Cynder's Flamethrower Lv. 3862/76 ~ Leer'd Edited by DarthEevee, Jan 28 2009, 11:34 AM.

.2 Aris leaned forward onto the railing, elbows together and palms pushed into his forehead. He was only half-aware of the events taking place across the sky, where bursts of flame were being exchanged among the birds and his own Typhlosion. Only when the smell of burnt fur reached his nose did he snap his head up, catching the last sizzle of the retaliatory burst of fire in the corner of his eye. "Well," said Aris comfortably. "That was certainly unexpected. We need to get moving, and none of this is helping." He dropped two more Pokeballs, and from the cacophony of clashing light came two Pokemon, one large and yellow, the other winged and blue. "Electivire, Thunder on that one, Cynder, finish off the one that shot that fire at us. Swellow, grab onto the front of the boat and start pulling. Sorry, but there's only so much I can do until we get some sails on this thing." In a flurry of feather and fur, fire and thunder and wind went flying out and all around. ![]() Lv. 53 97/106 -1 Def ![]() Lv. 30 60/60 ![]() Lv. 42 84/84 Headed to the Baconville Beach vs. Lv. 4327/86 ~ Mirror Move'd Cynder's Flamethrower Lv. 3862/76 ~ Leer'd |

.2 (Not much, I know...but...well. You're flying.) Lightning flashed, fires roared, birds screamed in pain and fell from the sky. Swellow latched onto some available portion of the boat and began to pull as the last bit of opposition was destroyed. (Cynder and Electivire get .5 each)Little else seemed inclined to challenge the flying oddity at this point. It took a while, and two wrong turns in the fog, but eventually, you managed to make it out of there with little more than a bit of lost time to show for it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Reached Baconville Beach. |
