Pidgey
Cedric sat at the window of his house's second-floor study, legs crossed comfortably as he sat reclined in a heavily cushioned, richly decorated chair. In his hands was a beautiful, and clearly expensive, teacup filled with imported herbal tea. It was a favorite of Cedric's, and he sipped it slowly, trying to get the most possible enjoyment out of what would be one of the last cups of this luxury he would have for a long time.

He was dressed in a finely tailored suit of deep blue, with a black tie knotted neatly at his neck. Light blonde hair framed his eyes on either side, hanging just a little longer in the front than in the back, leaving a few bangs on either side of deep green eyes. The glow of a few candles splashed some warm light on his face, and also shed light on the ornately decorated room, adorned with large bookshelves, a chess table, and many other seemingly excessive luxuries.

"Are you sure about this?" asked his father. The elder man was dressed in a similar suit to Cedric's, though his own hair hung in a ponytail down near his shoulders, and his aged, wrinkled face was clear of any falling hairs. He sat across at the other end of the table, hands folded neatly over one another.

"I'm positive," Cedric replied after a sip of tea, "This is... Something I've wanted for a long time." Or at least, he thought it was. Ever since he was a small child, he had always had dreams of Pokemon adventures. He had been a well read young man, having received an excellent education, and one of his favorite topics to read on was the study of Pokemon and the tales of those who had carved out great legacies and adventures with their Pokemon companions at their sides. He had wanted to go many years before, but his parents had insisted that he finish his schooling before he entertained any such ideas.

And now, here he was, at 21 years of age, only recently returned home from university studies. Educated and poised, Cedric would have had all of the valued traits necessary for a lengthy and prosperous career. Be that as it was, though, a power job wasn't where the young man's heart rested. He longed not for the security of an estate and a career, but for the adventure of open fields and dark caves with nothing but his own wits and his trained Pokemon to get him by.

"Very well," his father said after a moment, lowering his eyes to the table, "You followed our wishes and kept to your schooling... If this is the decision you want to make now, then.. We'll support you." In his heart, Cedric's father was far less than thrilled at his son's choice -- but he and his wife had always been nothing short of supportive in Cedric's life, and they weren't about to stop now.

Cedric finished his tea, and gently pushed the cup away from him toward the middle of the table. He paused for a moment, and then smiled softly, meeting eyes with his father.

"Thank you," he said plainly, "I promise to make something of this journey. Something that will make you proud." His smile widened, and he stood up. Taking a moment, he adjusted his collar and tie, and then crossed the table to extend a hand to his father.

"Good luck, son." he said, grasping his son's hand firmly. They shook for only a moment, and then Cedric turned to leave.

His walk carried him down a long hallway toward the stairs. Along the walls were portraits of his many uncles and great uncles and grandfathers and great grandfathers back through the generations. All were great, intelligent, and wealthy men. It was a promising thing, and difficult to leave behind -- but as Cedric passed their portraits and headed down the stairs to the door, he couldn't help but reassure himself that, as prosperous as they had been, theirs wasn't the life for him.

Leaving an easy life of fame and fortune is never an easy thing. Parents are never fond of kids taking a route other than that they feel is best for them either. But, still, some are good enough to understand when a child is no longer a child, and let them go despite and misgivings.

And so it went. Your illustrious ancestors watched after you as you exited, the butler holding you back a moment. "These are for you, sir." He handed you a small pack, which held a poketech, an escape rope with three charges, and 4200 Zenni.

Perhaps your family may not like this path, but they are at least making sure you understand that they accept it, even if they find it hard to say 'good luck' in person.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present. ~Oogway
