Marissa's dreams were full of happy things, although none actually about Pokemon. The first actually involved a Godzilla-esque giant teddy bear terrorizing Little Hillmoss Town, strangely enough....but it managed to be happy when the end left Marissa shooting the thing with a gun full of cotton balls, leading to the monster's untimely end. The townspeople adopted her as their new deity and erected a statue in her honor, as well as presenting her with many smaller teddy bears....but how that would be a reward was questionable. As an afterthought, they also gave her seven gallons of lemonade. Marissa was happy about that....she liked lemonade.... This dream was rudely interrupted by Marissa's loud alarm clock, which beeped shrilly to inform her that is was now seven 'o clock, and it was time to get up and start packing so her Pokemon journey could begin....it was beginning today, right? She had forgotten....and so she banged the snooze button hard and returned to her slumber. She was on the back of a giant creature resembling an Aerodactyl, enjoying herself a great deal, when a sharp turn made her fall. She was miles above the ground, and so she hurtled downward at alarmingly increasing speeds, but she wasn't afraid. Happily pulling a hang-glider out of her pocket, she got on and glided downward, looping in little circles in awe of the cities below. She even passed an airplane, and then she was sucked into its propellers.... And then she was in a land of candy and doughnuts, and she grabbed a lollipop off of the nearest tree and began eating.... The alarm clock went off again, increasingly irritable apparently, and finally snapped Marissa out of her slumber. Her dreams were getting more and more trippy....she had to stop eating that Chinese food at midnight.... Wait! She was going on her journey today! A look at the clock set her into a fit of panic....7:30 already! She was supposed to be ready by then! And, showing her usual foresight, Marissa hadn't packed at all. Flying out of bed at a speed comparable to most Skarmory, she grabbed her backpack that lay forgotten in the corner, and began stuffing clothes from her dresser into it. Once it had what she considered satisfactory (although all that was there was two changes of underwear, a shirt with a Bidoof on it, and a pair of jeans, plus two mismatched socks, one rainbow and the other decorated with images of Poochyena), she pulled on clothes to wear that day (although thankfully, the T-shirt and jeans she picked also had a pair of matching socks to go along with them, even if they bore stars on a blue background). A moment of thought led her to pack a couple bags of chips that had lay about her room, forgotten, and a book of the history of the training of Spoink. She deemed this as sufficient, and threw the backpack to her back and flung herself down the stairs, incredibly lucky she didn't fall and die before the journey even started. Marissa raced past her mother's Venusaur into the kitchen, where she grabbed some bacon from the fridge and pulled out a frying pan to make it. Every good morning started on bacon. As she fried, she pondered which Pokemon she would choose. Not Bulbasaur like her mother, that was for sure. What Pokemon had less use than a Bulbasaur, after all? Couldn't fly, couldn't lift anything, and evolved into a flower-thing, for Pete's sake! Nope, she was thinking of Charmander, who could light up dark areas and even fly when it evolved! Yep, Charmander was the one for her, that was for sure. And maybe Charmander could help her make bacon! Marissa hardly noticed when her mother entered the kitchen. "Um....Marissa....I already made bacon. It's on the table." Marissa didn't have a terribly good response to this, so she improvised. "I know. I wanted more." Her mother grinned, but said nothing more on the subject. "Dad wanted to see you off, too, but he had to go to work....you know. So, good luck to you from him, and me too." Marissa had finished making the bacon, and put it on a plate and went to eat the bacon that was already on the table. "Thanks, mom," she said through a full mouth, "And tell him thanks too." Her mother nodded. Of course, she had some supplies to give her daughter for the journey, but she wanted to wait until Marissa had finished eating all that bacon, and who knew how long that would take? |

"Marissa, I know you're a bit busy, a bit rushed too, honey, but you got a big journey ahead of you. Just remember that no matter how far you are, we're just a simple phone call away." She handed Marissa a small pouch. In it, there was a small envelope made out to "My Daughter"; a small, mechanical square and a remote that says, "Escape Rope x1.093lvi4"; and a small watch-like machine with a stylus on the side. Marissa scarfed down her bacon as if she had never eaten anything before. She looked at the pouch her mom held, mouth full of bacon, swallowed it, and opened it up. Using her sleeve, she wiped her mouth clean, and said to her mom as she hugged her: "Thanks, Mom!" She placed her plate in the sink and said, "Sorry I can't really say, 'Good-bye,' but you know I love you!" Marissa's mother looked at the ground as she held her plate, looked out through the window and saw her daughter leave the house, waving good-bye every step she took. A tear filled her eyes. Moderator's Comments: A decent start to your journey. I have to admit, it starts off a bit clichéd, kind of like the anime: it has the oversleeping notion mentioned in there, but you put a good twist on it. Dreams seem to be important, almost a bit central to your character. Marissa also seems to be a bit disoriented and that could definitely create some classic, humorous moments throughout your journey. This is a strong start to your journey and I'm looking forward to reading some more. Your character seems really human, and that's tremendous, especially considering that you just started writing and joined not too long ago. Welcome to the Legacy. Rewards 4,850 Zenni PokéTech Escape Rope (3 charges) You may now go to the Pokémon Lab. Edited by Prophetic, Nov 16 2008, 02:59 PM.
