Um..yeah. As the title says. It may not be utter crap, per-se...but I'm frustrated enough at how long it took me to write that I'm don't think I did as well as I could have...but that probably would have taken years...so here it is. This takes place back in that ancient time before Dark Horizons, since that's when I started this, and after all the time I've been trying to get the dang thing done...I wasn't about to restart it again, and try to figure out a few other things.

Once I'm done with this, I continue in Lorenzo Town, as that's where things ended with Dark Horizons, which happened right after this. Yayness.

Things this does:

Pays off hospital bill (mostly, maybe).
Gets a Riolu that hates me.

Woo. On with the show.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present. ~Oogway

Cute and Fluffy Evil Overlord
Poison Spore, Peter. Ben stood comfortably in the darkness, looking for all the world to an outside observer as if her were uninterested in the battle in front of him, where a small radish-like creature faced off against a small purple rodent. The Oddish began shake, his leaves rustling madly, sending a stream of yellowish-purple dust wafting across the battlefield. Ben kept his head tilted, listening for the telltale squeaks and scampering of their opponent.

Its using Tackle he muttered to himself, as he heard the Rattata dart first one way, then the other. Quick Attack would have been a better bet, but it was too late now. Tackle didnt have the speed to avoid everything Peter was throwing out. Poisoned or Paralyzed, it was in trouble now. He had spent most of the evenings of the past week working on the combined attack with his pokemon, and the Oddish was improving quickly.

A stifled squeak told Ben when the Rodent got caught by the cloud of toxins the grass type was spewing, and Ben nodded to himself. Mega Drain now, Peter! The Oddish trilled a reply spreading his leaves out and starting to glow greenly as he stared at the paralyzed rodent. The Rattata squealed shrilly as it, too, began to glow the same greenish color. With a final shudder it collapsed to the earth and Peter rustled his leaves triumphantly.

Well done PeterI think youve got the hang of it now. Ben moved forward to where hed last heard the Rattata, kneeling and hunting down the rodent by feel. He wasnt about to leave it lying about helpless. Carefully, he moved over, finding the bush it had challenged the m from and placed it underneath it. At least it wouldnt be as obvious there, and there was no smell of blood to attract predators. With any luck, it had a den it could crawl into and recover under there.

He straightened, and sighed. Two and a half weeks now hed been stuck in Malral, trying to pay off the debt hed incurred at the hospital there due to injuries received in the Barrier Mountains. The worst of it was, he had nothing to show for it. The Riolu hed managed to save had vanished when hed fallen asleep after returning the cursed amulet, and he had no idea what had happened to the other pup or their mother in the slightest.

And what with the bill, he couldnt go to try and find out what happened to any of them. No use fretting over it again, though. He turned back towards the city. It was getting late, and he had to get up early. Cmon, Peter. He took a few steps towards the city, but paused as he didnt hear the Oddish following. Peter?

The Oddish rustled his leaves, standing perfectly still. He couldnt have moved, even if he wanted to. A faint glow surrounded him at that point, shimmering like moonlight. In the shimmering light, he shifted, changing, growing larger, and blooming. As the glow faded, Peter wiggled his new arms experimentally. He had arms! With the loss of the leaves atop his head, he hadnt actually gained height, but since they had been somewhere around a third of his height before, he seemed taller now.

However, Ben couldnt see the transformation, and the silence was beginning to worry him. Peter? he repeated, turning back to try and find his pokemon.

Gloom! Peter replied, and hurried over to show off his new form. Gloom, gloom! Ben blinked, kneeling and running exploratory fingers over his newly evolved pokemon as the Gloom all but bounced into his lap. He hadnt been aware that his companion was that close to evolving. Of course, his first companion evolved only by stone, so he had no prior experience with such as this.

But then, he hadnt much experience in general. Congratulations, Peter! Ben patted the bulbous flower gently, relieved that Peter wasnt letting out the godawful stench that many a Gloom was known for. Hed heard that it was a defense mechanism more than anything, so perhaps it wasnt so surprising. Still, it was late, and he had to head back. So, shall we head back now? The newly evolved Gloom trilled cheerfully and hopped back to the ground, leading the way.

Ben followed, letting his thoughts drift back over what else hed accomplished during his somewhat enforced stay in the Malral District. Sadly, it wasnt much. The hospital had agreed to allow him to run errands and such for them, to pay back his bill. He could have left and taken his chances, but he didnt like the idea of debt hanging over his head. While there, hed managed to hear about another fellow whod been admitted about when he had, for some rather severe burns.

Being polite and having an open ear got one a lot of information, hed learned over the years. From what hed heard about the suspicious behavior of the man, he was fairly certain it was one of those hed encountered in the Barrier Mountains. He hadnt gotten the mans name, but hed known better than to ask. Patient privacy and confidentiality were held in high accord, and he wouldnt have gotten the answer if he had asked, and likely would have not gotten any further information, either.

The man had left the city and gone north, presumably to Brightopolis, but Ben suspected he was headed for Kevin Baconville in actuality. The heavy police presence in Brightopolis made it an unlikely choice for such as that pair. Which meant that was where he needed to head, if he was going to do anything about them. Not that he could. Hed promised to work for the hospital until hed paid for the care theyd given him, and despite the opinion of the Riolu hed saved, he kept his promises.

Which was part of the reason it was so frustrating to not be able to head out after them. Even if the Riolu was gone, he intended to keep that promise. They shouldnt be allowed to get away with such careless destruction.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ugh. The marsh was disgusting, misty, and halfway up his waist half the time. Why he was going this waythe trail went cold far too fast in the damp atmosphere, and the mist made it easy to get lost.
However, he wasnt about to give up. Hed survived a fall in the river, no thanks to him, and made it out of the mountains alive. Then hed found the human habitation, and the scent of him all around it. The other two, he didnt really know, nor did he care. His mother was probably dead, and his sister was likely sold into slavery or worse because of them all. So, take care of this one now, and then worry about the rest. Stupid humans.
However, it was becoming increasingly difficult to catch up with him, as he traveled through the swamp on much longer legs, and without seeming bothered by the disorienting mists. It was aggravating, thats what it was
However, now, he finally had his chance. The human had stopped for the night, and hed pushed on, finally catching up to his quarry. He was sleeping, which would make it so easythe small hunter crouched, stalking forward eagerly. Revenge would be so sweet
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ben was woken from a sound sleep by a pained squeal practically on top of him. Scratch that, it was on top of him, as he started to sit up only to have something small and furry land on his chest. Gloom! Ben rolled aside quickly as he heard the faint sizzling sound as well as the squeals. Peter must have used Acid on whatever it wasthough why it landed on him like that

The furball squawked again as he squashed it with his rolling, and he pushed himself up, grabbing at it quickly. Peterwhat in..? His hand closed on a paw of some sort, and he pulled whatever it was off the ground with it, reaching to try and find a better grip. At least getting squashed into the damp earth would have alleviated the worst of the Acid attack

Ben yelped and let go quickly as a set of sharp little teeth sunk into the wrist holding the pokemon up. However, his assailant hung on, and Ben gritted his teeth, resisting the urge to try to shake it off. Itd likely let go in a moment, but that hanging on like that had been a mistake. He grabbed hold of it by the scruff of its neck with his free hand and yanked, hissing slightly as the teeth took some of his skin with them.

Ben held the flailing creature at arms length, frowning as it yelped and struggled. A Riolu? It couldnt be the one hed savedthat one had been at least civil to him their last encounter, and had left quietly enough. Unless it had found its family dead or somethingbut he doubted that. Perhaps the other Riolu pupthe teeth hadnt gone deep, at least, though the pup had drawn some blood.

He sighed, and released Jax, the white Growlithe blinking in surprise and glancing about the terrain distastefully. White as she was now, mud showed. However, the squealing of Bens captive caught her attention and she eyed the muddy blue pokemon warily. Jax, do we know this renegade? Ben asked, as Jax trotted closer, ducking away from a flailing paw as she sniffed at the fighting type.

Growf. Jax replied affirmatively, and sat back to glower at the little pokemon. It wasnt hard to tell his hostility was directed at her beloved Ben, and her nose was more than good enough to pick up the faint tang of blood as well. Hurting him was unforgivable. Unless he asked her to, and since hed wanted identification instead of an attack, hed probably take it amiss if she avenged him. Frustrating as it was. So she satisfied herself with a show of teeth, fire flickering slightly behind them, in warning if the little beast tried anything.

Ben frowned a little at that, and shook the pup slightly, sighing. I assume the one that didnt make it down the river with us? he asked, almost hopefully. He hadnt really liked the thought of it drowning after everything that had happenedthe increase in pitch of the Riolus snarls and renewed flailing gave him the answer almost before Jax barked again, agreeing. He sighed. Look. I dont know where your sibling is, but Im trying to find those two who destroyed your home. What are you doing coming after me like that, eh? The Riolu continued to growl threateningly at him, and he sighed.

Dont believe a word Im saying, do you. He didnt even bother making it a question, and shook the pup again, before dropping him. Fine. However, I wouldnt He stopped as there was a series of sharp barks from the two canines in the area, and a scuffle right beside him. He moved back, digging through his pack for a bit of water and a bandage to wrap around his wrist. For all that they were canine, at least in part, Riolus werent biters, really, and the damage was minor.

By the time hed finished, Jax had the pup squashed into the mud again, sitting on him. As I was about to say, I wouldnt recommend trying to hurt me again. My companions are more than capable of doing something about it. Jax, let em back up. He still wasnt certain what gender either pup was, unfortunately. Peter has already demonstrated his capability at such as well, and I could certainly handle anything you tried myself, in all honesty. He wasnt sure if the pup could understand him, but it was true.

The pokemon was still little more than a pup, and he had over eight years of training in martial arts. The faint scuffles resumed, but fell silent after a moment, and Ben took that as a sign that the pup wasnt about to try something again. Which was a relief. He didnt really feel like dealing with it. Hed finally gotten out of Malral with a legitimate excuse, and one that might help him finish paying his bill off at that. The eruption of the volcano on Corona island had swamped Brightopolis and Kevin Baconville with refugees, many of whom were injured. So, the medical supplies in the area were running short, and the Malral hospital had agreed to let him take one of the supply runs to help alleviate the issue.

He couldnt help but worry about that eruption, and the amulet that he held in trust for what reason he didnt know. However, there was nothing he could do about that. And right now he had a rather irate pokemon sulking in his camp. Look. Im trying to find those other two who attacked you, and so long as you dont keep attacking me, youre welcome to come with me. He shrugged. Might find out what happened to the rest of your family if you do, too. He rolled back over and yawned. ButIm going back to sleep.

The Riolu shuffled a bit, glowering at the human, but paused as he took in the two pokemon nearby watching him warily. No good. He backed away. Hed have to bide his time

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was impossible. He paced the outskirts of the humans latest camp, grumbling under his breath. There was absolutely no way to get at him, what with his pokemon companions. The Gloom was perfectly comfortable with the night, and had the advantage of him then. And the Growlithe just when had she turned white? had a keener sense of smell than he, and watched him suspiciously every moment of the day.
Riolu settled down on the fringes, still muttering to himself. There was absolutely no whiff of his sister anywhere about him either, so he had had to come to the reluctant conclusion that he really didnt have her. With him, anyhow. But still, there was no way to get near him. It was maddening, to have him so close, and yet not be able to do anything to avenge his family.
Theyd been traveling for weeks now, and at least had left the marsh behind long ago. But in all that time, not a single opportunity to exact his revenge had presented itself. And now, there was another of those human dwellings ahead. Theyd already passed one as which hed entered for a time, then left. Riolu hadnt entered with the human, but had lurked on the outskirts, much as he was doing the camp now. But, tomorrow they would likely reach this new one, and he didnt like that any more than hed liked the sight of the last one.
Im pretty sure the two who burned the forest and caused this whole mess are in Kevin Baconville. Riolu couldnt suppress a startled yip as the human abruptly spoke to him. You might want to come in with me this time, if youre interested in finding them. He didnt turn away from the fire he was building, but the Growlithe glowered in his direction.
This was a trick obviously, and yetcould he chance not going in? If the other two really were in the citybut they probably had companions as well. Riolu shifted from paw to paw uneasily, glancing over at the small group in the camp.
<<Hes right, you know.>> The pup jumped as the Gloom spoke up abruptly. He hadnt heard the grass pokemon speak until now, and out of surprise, listened to the solemn pokemons words. <<Ben goes in search of the two, and the trail leads here insofar as we can find. I know not if they can provide information about your family, but if you refuse to enter such places, youre likely to never find them.>>
<<And if you enter with us, youll be assumed to have an owner,>> Peter added shrewdly, <<which will keep most others from trying to hurt or catch you.>> Riolu was silent, and the weed pokemon turned away, to settle down near the edge of the fireglow. Riolu sat there, silent, thinking hard, as the night crawled by.
When morning came, he continued to follow the human, even when they passed into the city proper.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The trail was very fresh now. It had taken far too long to catch up, but the trail was no more than a day old now. The city ahead winked in the darkness, washing out the stars in bright light and neon glow. It would not be long now

Lu? the small pokemon looked up inquiringly. She had rather liked this humanhed been kind to her. Surely

A shake of the head above her made her sigh. She had a bad feeling about this place

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ben wandered somewhat aimlessly about the town, at a loss for what to do now. It hadnt really occurred to him until now how hard it would be to find two people who didnt want to be found in a city such at this. One had to watch their back in this place, as trouble really did lurk around just about every corner in this town. It was the perfect place to hide if one was a less than savory sort themselves.
Which really didnt help him in searching, as he was not all that good at lying, nor at being sneaky and underhanded. The Riolu lurking in his presence hadnt helped, as more than one person had made a try for the pup, owned or no. Ben could only hope that the little fellow appreciated his keeping him from being captured near to a half dozen times now.
Sadly, he wasnt sure even that had gotten through to the belligerent little beast. Still, it had stuck close after the second time, and they were now lurking in a pawn shop, for lack of anything better to do. It wasnt like he could afford a single thing here, although the katana collection was impressive, to say the least. The Riolu sulked by his ankle, and Jax sat much less sulkily on his opposite side. The door chimed as someone else entered, and Ben paused in his examination of one of the swords as both pokemon stiffened. That was unusual.
It was even more unusual when the Riolu beside him began to snarl softly. He didnt have long to wonder about that, though, as a familiar voice cut through the quiet a moment later. Ahwhat a dump. Ben slowly put the sword back down on its stand, and resisted the urge to move closer to the register, listening closely.
It was one of the two whod burned down the forest in \the Barrier Mountains. The one whod been rather proud of it, no less. Hed also mentioned catching the BlaizikenBen strained to listen, frowning as the man haggled over the price of something it sounded like a statue, from a few comments made and then left a few minutes later. Ben smiled slightly. Well, leave them a few minutes, then Jax should be able to follow his trail at a safe enough distance to not get noticed, and theyd have their hideout.
However, Jaxs urgent whine alerted him to a new fact, and he cursed under his breath. The Riolu was gone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The warehouse district. Not much of a surprise there. One could hide just about anything in themparticularly so in a place like Kevin Baconville. Ben paused for what felt like the hundredth time on his trek, listening carefully. Jax paused as well, looking back at him with an inquiring whuff. He couldnt shake the feeling they were being followedyet as he turned a careful circle on his heels, he couldnt hear a thing, and Jax apparently thought he was being paranoid, as he caught a sniff of irritation from her.

I dont know, Jax he muttered, and sighed. It felt familiar somehow, as well, but he couldnt figure out why. Sorrylets get going. He gestured at the Growlithe, and she whuffed again, before placing her nose to the earth and sniffing industriously, trotting off through the maze of buildings once again. Ben followed as quietly as he could, thoughts turning to what they might find ahead.

He hated rushing off without trying to come up with any sort of plan, but the stupid puppy had made that not an option for him. That little Riolu didnt stand a chance against those men, no matter what it thought. And so here he was, haring off on a half-baked rescue attempt. He could only hope it didnt get everyone killed at this point.

Several minutes later, Jax came to a halt, and whuffed again, sitting down and pawing at a closed door. It seemed that theyd found their destination. Ben paused outside the door, head cocked to one side, listening. Still nothing. Shaking off the uneasy feeling of being watched, he reached for the knob and tried it. Unlocked. He frowned at that. Either these two were carelessly overconfident, or they were expecting him.

In for a dimehe sighed and pushed the door open, slipping inside as quietly as he could, Jax piling in beside him, so close she nearly tripped him. He stifled a sigh and pushed the door shut behind him, taking a cautious step or two forward, listening to the echoes in the huge room. He stopped as his outstretched hand touched a crate, and carefully felt his way around it and several others all stacked together before him.

Waallookee what we got here. Ben froze, as Jax stood before him, snarling belligerently into the room. Ben grabbed Peters pokeball almost before thinking, kneeling beside Jax, cocking his head with a frown. We eard bout someone in town with a Rioluthought it might be you. When thisn tried to jump me, we were pretty certain.

Peter, Poison Spore! Ben didnt wait to hear more, hurling the pokeball towards the voice, covering his mouth and nose with the sleeve of his other arm. Jax! He didnt elaborate, trusting the Growlithe to understand his meaning. Obviously the Riolu was captured, and Ben wasnt about to let these two keep it.

He heard the startled shout of the man, as Jax left his side, rushing forward at Peter appeared and inhaled sharply, before aiming the bloom on the top of his head and spewing forth a sickly yellow-purple cloud. Nice tryBlaiziken, Blaze Kick! Ben ducked back behind the crates at that, wincing.

Jax! An affirmative bark answered him, and an angry squawk that was obviously from the Blaiziken. A flash of red heralded the appearance of the fierce, hawk-eyed warrior. He lunged forward, the very air about his leg igniting as he leapt at the Gloom. The pokemon leapt through the spores, the cloud igniting with a speed that was almost explosive, causing Peter to squeal, falling back, scorched.

Ben winced at the cloud flared, burning motes falling among the piles of crates within the warehouse. Things were happening so fasthe straightened, intending to go around the crates again, when the door behind him burst inward, very nearly flattening him as he threw himself to one side to try and keep from getting hit. What the..?

Lucario!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She cast the one human before her barely a glance as she leapt to the top of the crates, taking the scene in at a glance. One of the other two humans stood in the center of the room, and several small fires were already flickering among the crates as the Gloom backpedaled quickly, trying to avoid the rapidly oncoming foe.
Her heart contracted as she caught sight of the Glooms enemy, the human forgotten in an instant, though he had his own troubles to deal with, as Jax plowed into him, snarling as her jaws snapped shut about the arm holding a pokeball. All that was immaterial, as she looked down and saw her mate once more.
Lucario! she shouted again, as a Riolu scuttled over to Ben, yipping an inquiry at him as he struggled to pick himself back up. The Blaziken hesitated, just half a moment, as she called, and Peter just barely ducked the worst of the attack, scrambling in her direction, smoldering . Luc Shed thought she wouldnt see him again...
Lucario hopped from the pile of crates, as the man howled and dropped the pokeball, the Growlithe releasing him and snapping it up in a flash, as the Blaiziken turned in her direction, looking up at her. The flat, sad quality in his eyes stopped her in her tracks. She glanced over at the human that Jax had attacked, with a slight snarl. He had captured her mate
She leapt in that direction as Jax scuttled back, the purloined pokeball in her mouth. He would payhowever, she stopped abruptly as her mate leapt between them, that same flat unhappy expression shot at her. He wanted her to leave
Blaiziken, Flare Blitz! He wouldnt..!
Luc!! She shrieked in betrayal, pain and anger, as she was struck backwards, fires eating at her as they plowed into a pile of crates, igniting them as well. She writhed, struggling to get free of her mate and the fires, surrounded again in pain, like the forest
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ben struggled to his feet, shaking his head dizzily. Lucario again? Peter scrambled to his side, as he tried to get his bearings. The Riolu yipped again questioningly, and he waved a hand, Im all right Was this the other one? Probably, what with the lack of open hostility

He winced at the scream of pain, and coughed, grimacing. The smoke was thickening frighteningly fast, which probably meant that the fires were quickly getting out of control. The Blaizikens attacks werent helping, either, as Lucario narrowly dodged a flamethrower, and Ben caught the little pokemon beside him and backed towards the door. This is bad He pressed the recall switch on Peters ball, summoning the frantic grass type to safety, and shouted. Jax! They had to get out before the whole place went up.

He drug the Riolu through the door, and shook his head. They had to get away from the building, fast. Jax! he shouted again, stumbling away from the building, as the Riolu squealed and kicked. He couldnt blame her, but he wasnt about to let her die. He paused not too far away, with a worried frown. Jax wasnt coming

Jax!! The heat from the fire was getting uncomfortably hot as he shouted again, forcing him further away from the building. Where was she? The Riolu had gone still and quiet in his arms, whimpering slightly in fear. Ben took a step towards the warehouse, but fell back at the fierce heat. Surely Jax wasnt still inside

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jax scrambled away from the nasty human, the pokeball safely in her mouth, but she froze in her retreat as the Blaiziken plowed into Lucario, setting another pile of crates on fire. She hesitated, ears flocking back as Ben shouted to her, watching as Lucario dodged another attack, wincing in pain, and staggering away from the new blaze this caused. Another Flamethrower, Blaiziken! The human was doing this on purposetrying to corner her with all the fires.
Jax snarled around her mouthful, and crept forward. He wasnt going to win again if she could help it. Lucario cried out as yet another flamethrower brushed past her, singing her arm, and Jax moved faster. Flare Blitz! Jax gave up all pretense of stealth, lunging between Lucario and Blaiziken, bracing herself as the Blaiziken plowed into her, the very air around her shimmering as it seemingly absorbed the aura of flame about the Blaiziken, leaving her virtually unscathed.
Lucario stared as Jax glowed, then burst into flame herself, charging at the Blaiziken, fires spinning about her as if she were on a treadmill, her attack blazing twice as powerfully as the Blaizikens had. She plowed into him with a muffled snarl, igniting half a dozen more fires along their path. Lucario blinked, then charged at the human, with a howl of rage. Jax fell back as Blaiziken righted himself furiously, and swept her aside with a fist, charging after Lucario.
The white Growlithe staggered to her feet again, turning to head after the Blaiziken again. Jax!! She skidded to a halt mid- charge, watching the human shout a panicked command to the Blaiziken, and the Lucario continued her single-minded charge. There was nothing else she could do at this point, all three of them were past saving. The Blaiziken was going to destroy the building in a second, taking the other two with him.
There was no way she was going to get out the door in timebut she had to try.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Of all the luckthe damned pyro! Ben froze at the snarl behind him, and spun, just in time to receive a powerful kick to the side, sending him into a wall, gasping. He struggled to remain upright, losing his hold on the Riolu in the process. Ill take that, if ya dont mind He lunged forward as the Riolu squealed, aiming a kick of his own at the man, having the satisfaction of hearing him grunt as it connected. Nice try, but not enough.

Ben leapt back a pace as the man swung at him, dodging a fist, as the Riolu continued to squeal in fear and pain. Let go! Ben leapt forward, making a grab for the pokemon, and growling when she was pulled out of his reach, as he stumbled over a bit of debris. He staggered, regaining his balance, and froze at a strange rumbling roar behind him, as his opponent swore. He half turned as the heat blasted outward again, sending them both staggering backwards. Ben fell flat on his back as that same bit of garbage tangled up underfoot, listening as the warehouse collapsed in on itself.

Nobody could have survived thathe lay there in stunned shock for a moment, then rolled over, pushing himself to his feet. It was far too late, though, as he heard the sounds of retreating feet in a full out run. Well settle this another time, kid! Ben stumbled after, but cursed under his breath. The biggest pain of being blindthere was no way he could keep up with someone at a full run.

He staggered to a halt, barely avoiding hitting a wall as the footsteps receded into the distance. Hed lost himand Jax. Nobody could have survived that. He slid himself down the wall, and rested his aching head against his knees. Jax

He lifted it, as the faint click of claws on pavement headed his way. The steps were halting, stumbling often, but becoming louder by the second. Jax? The limping increased in pace, and Ben stood back up, retracing his steps, and caught the Growlithe up in a fierce hug.

You had me worried he released her at a whimper of pain, and ran his hands over her, noting the bruises and scrapes, but hardly a trace of burn. Flash Fire Hed forgotten about that ability of hers. It looks like it had saved her life. He frowned as she shoved her muzzle into his hand, with a muffled bark. What was she up to? She shoved at his hand again, and he blinked, turning it palm up and holding it out to her.

A spherical object was deposited almost instantly into it, and Ben tried not to grimace at the slimy drool coating it. Apokeball? wiped it and his hand off as best he could, at a loss, as Jax all but collapsed beside him. Waittheyd caught that one Riolu, hadnt they? Butthe sound of sirens in the distance distracted him from his thoughts. Itd probably be best to get out of here

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ben sighed, sitting in the waiting room of the pokemon center. Jax would be all right, as would the Riolu. It seemed that hed gotten that much, though from reports, it didnt seem that the one guy had made it out alive, nor had the two pokemon.
He didnt really want to be the one to break the news to the Riolu currently being treated by the center, but he was officially the pokemons owner at this point, whether or not either of them liked it. He sighed and straightened up. Best to get going soon, though
The emergency report blared on the TV, and he froze, listening with growing horror at the report of the killing blizzards over Icicle Island. Not againhe collected Jax, and left the Riolu in the center for the time being. Hed collect it later.right now, he had a very bad feeling that things were coming to a headhe didnt have time to have a heart to heart with the pokemon, nor could he afford to be carrying a pokemon around that wasnt going to work with him.
If they survivedhed see what he could dobut this assumed survival.
~Fin~
All righty...after all this stupid thing, I gets meself thus:
:riolu : :ml Level 10
:anger x8
And...I would appreciate it if anyone else will tell me if they feel it would justify an egg move (Blaze Kick) or not. I can't decide.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present. ~Oogway
