While in (EDIT THIS!) Briar decided to take a bit of a rest from his journey to try out the features of his new Poketech. Mainly, he wanted to see what Poketechopia was all about. He'd heard talk of it from passing trainers here and there, and knew a little from research on the internet before he started out, but you can't really know what something is like until you've tried it. So with the ease of a simple press of his palm against the screen, the young man was taken away from (EDIT THIS TOO!) and brought to a brand new place. The trip took but seconds, and Briar was amazed to see how a whole new area materialized around his body. The technology behind the system must be horribly complex, but astounding! He was put down in the center of a bustling city, with buildings all around. In fact, the vibe was much like that of (EDIT THIS, THREE!). So instead of wandering through the streets to see what each building held, he decided to see what lay beyond the paved area. Most likely it wouldn't be anything dangerous - this WAS a simulation, after all. It looked mostly like a large meadow that surrounded the city, so pleasant and bautiful that it seemed to be asking for his company. Briar smiled. It wouldn't have long to wait. He wanted to bring the whole gang out of their 'balls first. Why not give them a bit of time to romp around? This seemed like the absolute perfect place for it - they could do whatever they wanted, and no matter what, they'd be returned to the real world safe and sound. A flick of Briar's wrist tossed the six small Pokeballs into the air, and their charges emerged happily from their confinement. "Hey, guys, go on and have some fun for a little while," Briar said with a joyful touch to his tone. Then he turned his attention to his newest acquisition, a Kangaskhan. "By the way, my name's Briar. I know you're probably feeling a little weird to see me instead of your previous trainer, but I hope we'll grow to trust each other over time. I promise to take care of you." By then, the rest of his Pokemon had run off (or took to the air), leaving Briar alone with the large creature. She seemed a bit confused at first, and quite possibly a little pissed off as well, but her features softened a tad after hearing the boy's words. At least this human treated her with respect, introducing himself pleasantly instead of just barking out orders. Maybe he wouldn't be so bad. Maybe. But she'd decide later whether or not they could get along, for now was playtime, and she was going to have some fun! Sighing contentedly, Briar closed his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath. That had gone better than he thought it might. Was it possible the Kangaskhan wasn't as angry as he'd thought? It could be. The trainer she'd come from hadn't mentioned anything about an anger problem. Maybe he'd gotten off easy! Opening his eyes, Briar saw that he wasn't alone in the park any longer. Or maybe he had never actually been alone, but just hadn't seen the other person. Either way, Briar figured it would be nice to talk to another trainer. Having a social contact every so often was probably very healthy for trainers, who spent much of their time in the wilderness without any other human contact. He couldn't really see the person well, but whoever it was, he hoped they were friendly. Putting a smile on his face again, Briar made his way towards the other human. |

Jemilie wasn't quite certain why she was there. Not that she was ever certain that she belonged in any particular place at any particular time...just that this time it bothered her more than usual. Though there was no reason for her agitation, since this place didn't exist anyway. Or rather, it did, but at the same time it didn't. It was a difficult concept to fathom, man designing something akin to an alternate dimension, where one can straddle reality and non-reality at a single point in time. Perhaps the mere fact of her need to indulge in an inconsequential realm was the source of her discomfort, and that day by day the pains of life outside grew evermore difficult to endure, forcing this retreat. Well, she was there. Might as well make the most of her visit. Desperate to dispel the perpetual weariness, she focused her attentions on the mock hillside, silent beauty with faux grass and flowers and trees, swaying along lightly to the non-existent wind. Her crew, a gaggle of Pokemon dragon types she painstakingly raised to their most prime states, had enjoyed the scenery as they would a real one, and took that opportunity to play and relax, even if that feeling was only temporary. The shapes of the gliding dragons gave the scene a sort of mythical feel, like dropping into one of those storybooks she'd often read about, of medieval lands and knights on horseback, donned in armor and swinging swords against majestic creatures that stole away with virgin princesses. Corny. She bore no worries about the now resembling something as such, as no gallant knights on horseback were to be found, the dragons that ambled about were nowhere neat of immense size and power of their fantasy brethren, and as far as she cared to know there were no virgins around to be in immediate danger. Against the base of a great tree sat Hwajeh, an elegant specimen of his kind. Deep-chested, streamlined build, skin a brilliant red-orange hue like a dying sunset, fading to the pale gold of his undersides and the deep jade of his wings. Beneath the downturned brow that set his face in a permanent scowl, bright cerulean eyes peered with curiosity and kindness, like the eyes of a faithful dog. One wouldn't look upon him once and think him harmless- and rightfully so, he proving on numerous occasions to be far the contrary- but it would be difficult for a gentle soul to find acceptance with such a disposition. It wasn't a concern, but something that occurred to her as she went to him, slightly taken aback at how imposing he seemed within the tree's shadow, the flickering light of his tail flame playing with his features, making him appear all the more dangerous. But those eyes had turned to her and blissfully invited her to sit, and quelling her apprehension, rested beside the great Charizard. It would figure that while Aura and Hiryu explored the limits of their domain in the sky that appeared not as infinite as it was designed to be, he would squat here and hide away, the thirst to soar free and unhindered unfounded. It was hard to understand why, since it was as much as his destiny to fly as it was to any pureblood dragon with wings. Even Endymion, still contained in a state of mutation, had watched the two with longing, anticipating the day when that heavy shell would shed, releasing his imprisoned wings and taking him farther beyond where any could imagine to go. Until then he was forced to settle on life on the ground, the effort of hefting that heavy carapace around taking a toll on his health, and he'd curled in the sunlight and napped. Some Pokemon hate the thought of being controlled by a trainer. But they don't know how easy they got it... She watched and envied Endymion for a bit, thinking that she probably wouldn't have mind if she and the Shelgon traded lives. Anything to give up this, cause she could no longer see any reason to keep on going as a human. She wasn't even sure if she was anymore... She was just about to drift off, nestled against Hwajeh's side when a figure approached, flanked by a brown dinosaur-like creature she recognized as a Kangaskhan. Rare, she thought, her interest perking before she even turned her eyes to the boy. Nothing about his expression or appearance seemed threatening, and even then she needn't worry. Even in the presence of her dragons she knew that there was no possible way she nor they could be harmed. Another miracle of technology, to experience everything as close to life as possible, but to negate pain and even death. If she didn't know better, she would have thought she was in heaven. Except her heaven wouldn't have any men. The ache still lingered, the bitterness was still there. The Charizard had raised his head in alert, sensing the approaching human and watching avidly. Jemilie did the same, expressionless and wondering what this one wanted from her. She suspected probably to admire her dragons, or to ask for a battle, or some other petty thing trainers typically did. Somehow, she found she rather looked forward to either, though humans were one of the last things she wanted to associate with right now. |

The grass, ever green in its programmed perfection, squished under Briar's shoes as he made his way towards the other trainer. As his feet left the ground, the blades sprung straight once more, no longer carrying the burdon of the boy's weight. Though only a tiny nuance most wouldn't even notice, Briar picked out such inconsitencies that revealed this place to be unreal. He could see the pattern in the clouds repeating itself as they ambled by, for instance, pushed on at a regular interval to simulate a calm day. Attention to detail was a quality Briar appreciated, and he planned never to let his life get so hectic that he'd lose it. As he walked, the girl (for he'd gotten close enough by then to figure out the gender, as the telltale physical sign of femininity on this trainer was quite well developed) went to sit against a tree aside what Briar assumed to be one of her own Pokemon. And what a magnificent beast it was! With a Charizard in tow, this girl would have to be a powerful trainer, no doubt. Even if only at the base level of thirty-six, the dragon could probably wipe the floor with most of Briar's team, if not the whole lot. But no matter - he couldn't exactly complain about his team's progression, having only recieved them a few days ago. Though the presence of the Charizard did serve as a reminder that he should be spending more time helping his Pokemon grow. The girl wasn't a bad sight either: long violet hair falling delicately against her figure, rouding her curves with grace; a form-fitted black vest topped with a furry collar, worn over a short white shirt leaving little to the imagination; and baggy navy pants which, at least to Briar, signified a hint of tomboy to her personality. All things considered, Briar certainly wasn't displeased to be in her presence! Nearly there, the two seated under the tree caught wind of Briar's approach. The great orange monster's natural instincts kicked in, switching him from relaxed to alert in a heartbeat. Vigilant eyes gazed warily in his direction, and to his side came a low grunt from his Kangaskhan. It was most likely a greeting of some sort, or possibly her own way of saying, "I'm not here to challenge you - I'm with him." In contrast, the girl's face showed little emotion. Hey eyes held nothing in them that Briar could detect, and she made no movement toward or away from him. She's so...empty, thought Briar. And yet, he felt that something was keeping her in that state, grasping onto her tight and choking her true personality. He felt this in his heart, a sad, tugging feeling he hadn't gotten in a long time. The boy sensed his body starting to follow the old patterns - the dull pain in his chest growing stronger, shooting out to his extremities in waves; tears building up behind weary eyes; muscles tensing, twitching, sending messages to the brain to run and hide... No. He wouldn't let it happen anymore! ...But why had it begun in the first place? Focus. Take a breath, calm down, and keep going, his mind urged in a split second. And just as quickly as they'd come on, Briar willed the negative reactions to die away; the counteraction he'd practiced many times before working immediately for the first time ever. Whoa. He'd have to ponder this moment later, For now, he kept his attention on the other trainer. "Hey there," he said quickly, his eyes glancing thoughtfully into hers - a perfect compliment to his soft, caring voice, "I saw you here and wondered if you'd like some company for a while. Even with Pokemon around, being in the wilderness by yourself gets a little lonely, don't you think?" |
