((Continuation from Steamswap Jungle.))

Only the bugs seemed to be awake and making noise at this hour. They were finally free of the thicket of trees as the exit to the rainforest appeared ahead. Shugo smiled and broke into a sprint in hopes of finding a clearing to rest in. Much to his dismay, he couldn't see hardly anything other than a field of grass that came up to his chest. The grass was overgrown entirely and could house many dangers, especially when it is dark. Weavile pushed aside a few blades of grass; not that it did any good.

"So you think it is safe to go through here at night," inquired the trainer. "I suppose so, as long as we don't step on something sleeping. Then it won't bode well for us," replied the weasel. The pair entered the field of overgrowth and stuck to the direction that the PokeNav directed: northeast into the territory outside of Rosetown and then directly east into the city from there. "I'm sure Scyther is used to this type of terrain; if we run into anything, we've got him to rely on for the time being."

Shugo tried not to think about what could happen in this field. He'd feel much safer traveling in a large group during the day. It was times like these that he wished he knew the layout of the land better. But surely Weavile would serve as a guardian, even if they didn't have anything more than a friendship.

Friends. You were lucky you knew the meaning. Most folks, especially these wild pokemon, didn't know the meaning to the word. They lived, day in and day out, alone, fending for themselves, with no protection from humans running around pummelling them with little to no cause.

This was the case with what you spotted next. It was a gloomy pokemon... Gloom. It looked a bit down, and a little batered and beaten. Probably fresh out of a battle for its life, it had wandered overnear a large rock to take a rest. Breahing heavily, it gazed up at the sky, wondering if it would ever end.

Both of the beings heard the shuffling of grass to the left, forcing both into a defensive stance with the Weavile in front of the boy. However, it wasn't any cause for alarm. A dejected plant sat atop a rock with its gaze narrowed to the moon in the sky. Shugo had a curious look on his face as if trying to read why the Gloom would be so down in the dumps. An odd aroma was floating around the pair, perhaps out of sorrow from the creature. "It's not a cause for danger; let us be off." Shugo seemingly didn't even pay attention. It wasn't ideal to be walking about at night alone, and this plant seemed too glum to even worry of it.

"Hey... what're you doing out here alone? I'd assume it's pretty dangerous which how tall this grass is. Shouldn't you be sleeping anyway? You look tired and worn out anyway... Come on, walk with us and you'll be safer that way. We can find a good spot for you to regain your strength." His hand outstretched to appeal to the plant. Obviously, he was a trainer but showed no malicious intent. A warm smile was painted on his face. It was one thing for a pokemon to fall in battle, but to be ambushed at night in a weakened state was sickening to think of. He wouldn't have this resting on his concious. "We won't hurt you. And I know this is weird... but I can understand you.. So if you want to talk, I'll listen. You seem kind of upset..."

Weavile's foot tapped against the plain impatiently. "Shugo, do we really have time to bother with this," he remarked. The teen glanced over his shoulder and shot the weasel a glare that could send a chill down his spine. "It won't hurt to have another traveler with us for a bit. If you don't care, then go on ahead. We'll be fine." Black eyes closed as he shook his head and waited ahead of Shugo and the plant, not seeing any point in arguing. It was the Gloom's decision now.

Gloom noticed you, but barely made an effort to do anything about it. Tired? Not really... these creatures fed off of the moonlight. Depressed at the way its life was going? Probably. Wild pokemon have it pretty rough.

Gloom made no movement to follow you. In fact, it acted like you weren't even there. If you were hostile, fine.. it was done fighting off trainers. If you weren't, then it prayed you would leave it be and not go into a sob story about why it hsould join you. This was a veteran pokemon who had heard it all before. Listening to your rambling would only make things worse in Glooms mind.

In short... this critter was being a little prick.

Shugo seemed a bit disappointed that the Gloom made no effort to communicate. To make the situation even worse, Weavile continued to verbally chastize the trainer's behavior. "You see? It doesn't care for your attention or your aid. It's a wild pokemon, a concept you still don't seem to grasp. Not everyone is as friendly as you in this world." A bit in shock by the blunt comment, Shugo pivoted and retaliated. "That doesn't mean I just act like an asshole to everyone I meet; that isn't right. I really could care less if the world is the same way I am, but just because you don't approve doesn't mean I'm going to change who I am. I'll be just as stubborn as you are." Awkward silence followed after the exchange. Tension had seem to be getting tighter between the pair for whatever reason. Weavile had a penchant to scolding Shugo for almost anything he did.

However, Shugo wouldn't have any of it right now. His mood changed from sympathic to annoyed by waving off the Gloom's negative attitude and turning to head towards Rose as planned. "Whatever... lets just get out of here and find a place to sleep. Not in the mood to argue with you..." His hands tucked into his jacket pockets and feet moved at a steady pace. The build-up had really made Shugo's mood take a turn for the worst. Weavile followed behind slowly keeping a distance from the trainer. It'd be best if they slept on it and not continued to build animosity towards one another.

The pair peeled through the grass that came up to Shugo's chest, the screen flickering in the darkness to light the way towards the village north of the Lorenzian Wildlands. But first, they had to reach the Thick Trees area ahead, near the Forest of Fury and head east from there.

The air of negativity existing between the team seemed to repel any opportunistic wild Pokemon, as the walk through the unmowed, four-foot grass continued without incident. The wild grasses eventually thinned out, reaching the shadowed area of the thick trees a lot sooner than you expected. When you emerged, however, you find there was a small couple who decided to hitch a ride. Hey, getting through those freakishly tall grasses ain't like a walk int he park!

A solid five feet remained between the two who seemed incredibly annoyed at the other's behavior. Weavile crossed his arms and left his eyes shut as to not give a non-verbal queue for more animosity. Shugo had a similar pose with his hands tucked into both jacket pockets with gaze tilted to the right away from the weasel. Who was he to scold him for what kind of person he chose to be? Shugo knew better than to let someone lecture him on mannerisms. Just because he wasn't secluded and solemn like Weavile didn't mean he wasn't going to survive in this world of cold-hearted individuals.

His thoughts were cut off by the touch of multiple legs against his spine, causing him to scream in a feminine fashion. The teen twisted and writhed to try and reach whatever was causing the tickling sensation not even thinking to just remove his jacket and investigate. Weavile sighed loudly and snapped. "What it is now?!" Shugo finally shook the two bugs from his person, only to snatch his third pokeball on instinct and toss it to the field of grass below. "I'm not in the mood right now!" A flaming figure appeared with all limbs scorching with smoke rolling off of its epidermis. Peregrine, Shugo's stalwart Magmar, raised his fists to challenge the bug types. The trainer began to call out a command but gazed upon the twin bugs that had hitched a ride, so to speak. Striking them down at such a disadvantage because his mood had been ruined wasn't the way to handle it. Shugo sighed and rubbed the palm of his hand across his face and recalled Peregrine promptly.

"It isn't their fault that you pissed me off, Weavile. Why take it out on them?" He knelt and extended his arm out to the pair of bugs with a nod. "Come on, you can ride until we get to Rose Town." Whether they would choose to go was their decision. He also glared to the weasel who still seemed annoyed; he obviously didn't approve of Shugo's hospitality. "If you don't like the way I act to others, then go off on your own. I'd rather not be yelled at for being nice to others. It's common courtesy; you should read up on it." With that, the boy hurried along the pathway carved by the PokeNav's satellite systems. Only this time, Weavile did not follow. Perhaps it was for the best that the group parted under such tension. Things only looked to get worse from here on out. Now he only had to worry of reaching Rose Town.

The two bugs didn;t know what to do. Except take you up for a ride. Where they were headed, was a long crawl for them... the Forest of Fury. It just so happnened that you were headed for the same destination. Isn't that lovely?

So, crawling up your arms, the tqo Caterpie made their way up to your face, sniffing it whilst sitting on your shoulders. That wasn;t the only new occurrance... the grass you were wading through magically turned to trees. Thick ones. You could barely see into the forest they were so thick... good luck making your way to town through there...
