With his emerald gaze sweeping the increasingly foggy landscape all around him, Malak's right hand slowly drifted over to his left wrist. With a flick of his wrist, he grabbed a ball from his wrist bound holster and flicked it to the ground, a small azure form emerging from the stream of white light. It was his Totodile, Rurio, and he would be immensely useful in the trek ahead due to being able to locate sink holes and pitfalls filled with water. Besides, it would be fun for him to be able to swim around freely instead of being couped up in his Pokéball all the time.

"Hey there bud, ready to do some swamp crawling?" Malak knelt down and gave Rurio a quick scratch under his jaw as he spoke these words, a smile upon his face.

And so, the two set off into the damp valley, Rurio in the lead, Malak following behind. There was no telling what this place would have in store for them, and it was always better to be safe than sorry.

This valley wasn't the friendliest of places by any means. The weather was dank and miserable, and the ground was so soft you might as well have been walking in mud. Still, Rurio seemed to enjoy the excess moisture in the atmosphere. He busied himself with scouting out possible dangers ahead of you.

Of course, there were other creatures that thrived in these conditions. Bugs, mostly. Such as the little critter that just scuttled over your shoes. It started to poke and nip at your feet, trying to figure out this new obstacle in the otherwise familiar landscape. Mind you, it could be worse. It could have started burrowing by now.

"Excuse me little guy, would you mind if I had my foot back?" Trying to ignore the minute twinges of pain that were shooting up from his foot, Malak smiled down at the little bug who has investigating his foot.

Meanwhile, Rurio had noticed that his trainer had stopped moving, and turned around to watch an odd insect thing poking at his foot. He had not been given an order to attack, so he merely plopped down in the mushy ground and began to wriggle about. All this moisture felt so good on hi scales, something he had not been able to feel quite sometime.

So there it was, Malak talking to the bug attached to his foot, and Rurio wriggling around in the mud like a guppy... interesting scene, huh?

Indeed. In fact, it was so interestign that it summoned down a mighty Moltres to investigate.

Okay, I am kidding.

Instead, it summoned down another bird. It's Keen Eye led it to be able to see through the fog to the bug that had now let go of your foot, since you asked ever-so-nicely. Now, th ebug had another problem that it didn't knwo about yet. It soon would.

Starly became visible, and almost just as quick, had swooped down and had begun pecking on the hide of the Paras. The bug writhed in pain, but there was nowhere for it to hide. Starly could see unexplicably well, even through this fog. Running ftom the speedy bird was not an option. All that it could do was sit still... and take its beating like a champ.

To interfere with the natural order of things, or allow it to happen? Such a common scenario that many trainers come across on a daily basis, yet one that is always hard to decide upon. But, it was in Malak's very nature to help those in trouble, and this bug was not even able to fight back against his ruthless assailant.

"Ok Rurio, time to try out a new combo. I want you to blast that thing with a water gun, then try to freeze its wing with an Ice Fang attack." Malak's words rang out of nowhere as he pointed at the attacking Starly,a steely resolve filling his gaze.

Rurio quickly got to his feet, his own gaze locking upon the Starly as a mass of water began to build up from that mysterious place that Pokémon create water. With a burst of force, Rurio let loose his attack, the watery blast racing forth with impressive speed. It was Malak's hope that the element of surprise would correct any accuracy problems that the light mist would cause.

Yet, that was only the first half of this new combo, for Rurio quickly clamped off his aqueous assault and lunged at his foe, a chilling aura gathering around his fangs. Soon, should his aim be true, he'd be sinking these into his foe, hopefully freezing its wing to prevent any flying that it may have wanted to do.

Starly was too much into devouring the bug to notice or even care about your Totodile. Let's call that mistake numbe rone on the birds part.

Again, using its speed, the Starly dove through the fog, and using its beak, pounded on the hide of Paras, leaving it in a heap on the soggy ground. Proud of itself, the bird perched itself on the limp body, and began pecking faster and faster, taking part in the spoilds of war.

This made things quite easy for Totodile. Starly wasn't in the air anymroe, making the task of landing ahit all the more simpler. Water Gun was first, dousing the feathered foe. Before the bird knew what was happening, Rurio was lunging at it, fangs bared, ready to clamp down at a moments notice.

With a deathly shriek of pain, Starly fell to the ground beside Paras, having met the same fate as its meal.

Such was the way of life, for Malak had managed to defeat his foe, yet was not in time to save to save the life of the Paras he had decided to fight for. "Come Rurio, we did the best we could. Besides, that new combo rocks, eh?"

Rurio let his gaze linger at the fallen Paras a few moments before taking his place in front of his trainer once more. There were bound to be many natural traps in this place, and he'd rather not have to try and pull his human out of them if he could keep him away from them. And so, on they walked, the mist around them getting thicker and thicker as they went.

You walked forward, and soon enough, the ground evened out as much as you could expect. The sinklands were behind you, as the most intensified in density, enshrouding you and your location.

Reached: Mist Valley

With this new mist came a new traveling problem. It was thick, prohibitingly so. Vision of any significant distance went straight out the window. You couldn't see much ahead of you, but the wild pokemon coudl see fine. they had adapted to this environment, and were used to its perils.

"Tad. Tad!"

The sound came from the ground. A Lotad was skimming the surface of the ground, making its position known to anythign within earshot. Maybe it has a deathwish?

Like the breath of a massive monster exhaling into the cold night, the fog all around our emerald haired hero began to thicken and thicken until it was next to impossible to see. Yet, he could hear perfectly, and the sounds of a wandering Lotad could be heard over miles of the flat valley. This could be bad, for any number of predatory Pokémon could be drawn to these sounds, and Malak did not want to be caught unawares. And so, he quickly strode over to a massive boulder, taking up position behind it so that he could just barely see the Lotad.

"Ok Rurio, be ready to act, we're likely going to have to save that thing." Rurio nodded at his trainer as his eyes locked onto the form of the swimming Lotad, ready to act at a moments notice.

...

Nothing. Just a lonely little Lotad, skimming across the waters surface. It was some time before anythign else made an appearance. But, when it did, it cam ein a big way.

Lotad didn't notice until it was too late. A Grimer, acting as a wall of goo, awaited the innocent pokemon to walk over it, as it lay flat on the ground. Then, without warning, it rose up, forming a wall around Lotad, and began to attempt to strangle it.

Why would Grimer do such a thing?

Because its a bully, and thats what bullies do.

0.2 Why do I keep getting such strong pokemon? That thing is 6 levels above my highest. @_@

"Ok Rurio, lead off the attack against that thing, back up will be right behind you." Below his steely gaze, Malak was flinching over the obvious power that this Grimer held, but he would never allow his companions to see it.

Lead off attack? Master trust me enough to not give orders? Rurio quickly shook off these thoughts as he stared down the the massive vague blob that was trying to smother his fellow water type with all its nasty purple sliminess. Yet, there was no way in heck he was going to bite such a nasty thing... what to do? The it hit him, why bite when you got a perfectly good tail to whack it with?

In the blink of an eye, Rurio was off, using is prowess for such an aqueous environment, skating toward his foe. Just before making contact with the Grimer, he suddenly leaped into the air, a watery aura forming around his tail as he prepared his most devastating attack, Aqua Tail!

In the mean time, Malak had released another of his team behind the boulder, the small orange being looking up at him with hunger in its eyes. "Ok Alaru, if you help Rurio knock out that Grimer, I'll make you something really tasty to eat."

Needless to say, this was all the motivation that Alaru needed, for he quickly jump up on top of the boulder he had been summoned behind, his beady eyes locking onto the Grimer. How could he see so well in this fog might one ask? The answer is simple, for this fog was not much different than the sandstorms that his kind has lived in for ages. Anyways, Alaru's eyes began to glow as the ground near the Grimer began to pulse with a strange power. Soon, a massive spike of mud would erupt from the earth, attempting to impale the nasty creature.

(This is why nobody mods you... you complain about every little thing. Most people would love to encounter stronger pokemon. Did it occur to you that, since I am the only one modding you, that I had something planned or maybe a plot to go along with it? I'll make a note of your disliking it, and send you out a level 3 Rattata next time.)

Rurio was on the move almost instantly. Using the fog for cover, it snuck up on Grimer, and gave it a good whack, as you called it, with its tail. The Aqua Tail attack caused Grimer to release the Lotad, causing the water/grass hybrid to run away... leaving you to dela with the poisonous monstrosity.

Trapinch saw that Grimer was focused on Totodile, and this gave it the opportunity it needed to strike at will. Now, normally, Trapinch are well-versed in the art of attacking when physicality comes into play... they are one of the best around for it. Earth Power doesn't use the physical attacking power, leaving it to have much to be desired coming from a young ground type. Still, you had the type advantage on your side, and that was all that you really needed against a Grimer.

As the ground underneath the poison type shook, it began to raise in elevation somewhat, eventually causing bits and pieces of it to hit the slimy creature from underneath. Being assaulted by the two attacks was enough to makes the poison type quite pissed off. It spewed a noxious gas into the air, causing it to mix in with the fog. The result was you pokemon breathing in Poison Gas, and becoming quite groggy from it.

0.3 Actually, I'm fairly certain that most people would complain about running into something that is 8 levels above their apl. I just don't like having to double team stuff is all.

"Ok...guys... fall back out of the poison." Malak could barely give his commands as he choked on this foul mist, his eye sight blurring by the second.

This wasn't going to be an easy fight by any definition of the word, for it was obvious that this foul creature had seen many battles in this fog ridden valley. Then it hit him, he did not have any antidotes, which meant that he did not have time for an extended battle against such foe, nor did he have anything that could make quick work of it. Yet another battle he would have to flee from...

With a flick of his wrist, he recalled both Rurio and Alaru before securing their containment devices and taking a small machine from his right hip pocket. In a flash of light, he was gone, having used an escape rope to retreat all the way back to Mayriver City.
