A chill ran down my spine, like a cold drop of rain from the top of my neck scurrying down to the tailbone. I shivered and looked around; and guess what? I saw nothing but endless fog. Hurriedly, I got down from my bike, and looked at Sanctuary, asking him, "San, what's this weather? Can you change it?" Dragonairs had the powers to control weather but San shook his head. Maybe he was too inexperienced, but whatever he tried did not work.

Then I saw it.

The Dusclops stood opposite us, his singular eye glowing a fiery red, a burning fire. Mean Look... This was the reason. The mist was just an illusion, something in my mind. We could not escape from this ghost. So what? I wasn't ready to run. I looked at San, "Are you up for this?" He nodded.

However, instead of just letting San handle this, I decided since this ghost was so wily and cunning, I had to have him in my journey. He'd be quite useful when one of my companions was down. I held the Pokeball of one of my newest companions and tossed it into the area.

"Ding!" Zryne rang merrily.

"San, Dragon Dance and dash into a Dragon Rush! Zryne, Confuse Ray and Hypnosis!"

San nodded, his body already curving into an elegant shape, dancing to worship the dragons that paced the land before him, praying to them for power. Zryne's metallic body started to vibrate rapidly, sending psychic waves of confusion and sleep.

The ghost scoffed at the impending battle. Two pokemon against one wasn't much of a fight, especially when both were evolved, and one was a friggin' dragon. Still, Dusclops didn't seem the least bit unnerved.

Using its ghost-like abilities, it vanished before your very eyes, bypassing the rya of confusion let loose by your metallic monster, as well as the Hypnosis that followed. Meanwhile, San saw this as a chance to do its crazy little dance, only to have it Diabled a moment later. Dusclops had reappeared soon after, and it was clearly targeting your dragon.

How could you tell? Well... take, for example, the ghosts ability to use Ice Punch as a sign. Its fist formed into a ball of solid ice, and smacked against your dragon, causing a resounding howl of pain to emminate throughout the dead area. Soon after, San was encased in a block of ice... being vulnerable to the ice element wasn't a good thing while being froze, thats for sure.

Dusclops obviously didn't view Bronzong as a threat, because its focus was mainly on the dragon that it had frozen. But, once it was immobile, it was no longer a threat, as the ghost turned its attention to the Ding Dong sounding pokemon.

"Freak."

The idiot. He was clever, really clever and poor San was suffering because of it. What could I do now with San frozen? I just put my hand on my most trusted companion's Pokeball and clicked the button. In a smooth stream of white light, Agnis' silhouette formed; once solid she stood out with a bright burst of light, her eyes burning with fury once she was what had happened with San.

"Airlia, what now?"

"Ding!"

"Zryne, continue with those hypnotic waves; make sure that damn ghost falls asleep once it gets close!" I shouted. It was crucial to make that ghost fall into a deep slumber; that way he'd be as disabled as San here. I place a hand on the cold ice, trying to warm it so it'd be easier for him to break free. Agnis then ran towards the ghost, swiftly with her talon starting to catch fire...

Dusclops wasn't gonna go out like a chump. But, what coudl it do? Three on one was far from a fair fight. Still, it fought on like a trooper.

Blaziken came roaring in with a Quick Attack. Being a ghost, Dusclops was impervious to it, as the fire type simply passed through the pokemon. Using this as its chance, It shot a Confuse Ray at the metallic clanging pokemon, effectively taking away its hindering abilities. It then turned its attention to the frozen pokemon. Soon, it owudl thaw, and become an annoyance. So, with another Ice Punch, the dragon was left laying on the ground.

Bronzong was busy with its own confusion to do much of anything constructive, but Blaziken was still in the fight. Sure, it passed through the ghost. But Blaze Kick wasn't just any normal-old attack. It packed a wallop, as would be clear to Dusclops after the kick hit the ghost in the back. Dusclops hovered in the sir a bit, trying not to let th epian show, but it was a difficult task. The ghost had now eyed Blaziken now that the dragon was down, and the metal pokemon had its own problems.

"San!"

I rushed over to San's side; the ice had thawed and now the weak Dragonair lay on the ground, eyes barely fluttering open. I whispered, "Rest, I'll take care of this." His Pokeball cracked open, and sucked him in with a light a shade of blood. The dragon disappeared with a low growl; and I stood up again, facing the Ghost Pokemon. Granted, it was not a fair fight, but it was partly the ghost Pokemon's fault.

"I wanted a fair fight, using Bronzong but Mean Look prevented me from recalling Dragonair. Or Bronzong now, for that matter."

I didn't know why I felt I owed this ghost Pokemon an explanation; it was just a feeling, I guess. His red eye glowed accusingly; and I didn't want any hard feelings. The only way I could move on was to defeat him or capture him. He chose to have a fight. What other reason could he have for doing this? Pointing a finger at the Dusclops, I shouted, "Agnis, now! Blulk Up; then Blaze Kick that Ghost Pokemon!"

She nodded seriously, her muscles on her legs rippling as they grew larger, stronger. Turning to Zryne, I said, "Zryne, snap out of this. I know you're good enough. Cast a Confuse Ray back at the Dusclops!" Rubbing my hands in worry, I wondered what drove this Dusclops to challenge me, to make me battle with it. Should I capture him? He was a good battler, no doubt; but would he be willing to join me?

Ugh, whatever.

Agnis did as she was told, and stood motionless, building up its muscle capacity. Meanwhile, your hovering metallic spaceship pokemon twirled in circles... the confusion still obviously full in effect.

This left Dusclops with a choice. Attack Agnis, who was slowly making itself even mroe powerful than it already was. Or, he could deliver one hell of an assault on Bronzong, eliminating the pending threat that it posed.

Decisions, decisions.

The treacherous ghost decided to single out the already injured steel type, to even the playing field with Blaziken as the only opponent. It lunged at the twirling steel type first with a Shadow Punch, an attack that focused on the mind of the opponent. It then followed it up with a Fire Punch, using both fists to attack the defenses of the clanging pokemon. That, combined with the confusion of Bronzong, was enough to lay the pokemon down, leaving the two to fight.

Agnis, using the defeat of its comrade as fuel, spiralled towards the ghost, foot first, kicking Dusclops directly in the back. The ghost let out an unusual howl of pain as it fluttered in the air, struggling to maintain its bearings. Perhaps taking out Bronzong wasn't so smart, eh?

I knew that would happen. I pulled out his Pokeball and clicked on the button; the red light shot out and sucked his energy inwards, containing the giant bell Pokemon. Agnis heaved a heavy breath, her body strong and confident as she performed another Bulk Up to increase her defence. The ghost Pokemon was formidable, and I wanted to have him on my side. I knew that he might not like me that much since I did gang up on him; I just hoped he understood why I had to do it. It was his power that cornered me; his Mean Look ruled over everything.

"Agnis, prepare a small little fire in your mouth; you learned how to control your Fire Blast so it has the effect of an Ember!"

She nodded, taking in a deep breath to prepare. I took out an unused Ultraball; my first one I have ever used. I too, sucked in air, trying not to be nervous. I never felt really nervous when I captured Pokemon; but this one I did. He was special; and I was so eager. I pressed the white button; and it grew.

"If he escapes, Agnis use your weakest Fire Blast on it!"

Taking aim, I let the ball fly.

Given that a remarkable amount of control was required to turn what was usually a raging fire attack into litte more than a light burn, Agnis' attack took significantly longer to prepare than it normally would, giving Ducslops the chance to strike first. And Dusclops, well, like many Ghost types, was all about tricksie little devilsies. It had started with the Mean Look, and now it was continuing its reign of terror by annoying the heck out of you. There was flash which came from the Ghost type's single eye, and the fire in Agnis' beak subsided, having been sealed away with the ghost's cursed powers. Then that sinister eye glowed again, sending a chill down Agnis' spine. After a few seconds, however, it subsided as well, with no visible effects whatsoever.

But, in the end, Ducslops dastardly deeds may have had no effect, since the ultra ball was now flying through the air towards the creature. The ball swallowed the ghost up, and the struggle for supremacy began. The small device wiggled to and fro for at least a minute, signifying that this would be a close call, before finally come to rest.

Agnis shivered as her flame disappeared; her beak empty, devoid of any heat. She choked a little, coughed with a puff of smoke, but no fire. However, my Ultraball landed on the ghost, cracking open and sucking the ghost Pokemon inside. It shook and wobbled, only to stop after a long time, the sole red eye on the Ultraball turning white. I picked up the Ultraball and held it in my hand; the Pokeball disappeared in a white light. The Dusclops was sent to the PC.

Dusclops was a powerful ally now, but he was probably extremely upset with me; the only way I could gain his trust was to apologise and explain to him. The glow of his red eye lingered within my head as I lost myself in my thoughts; Agnis' talon on my shoulder awoke me from my dreams. Smiling to her, I said good job, and she grinned, disappearing into her Pokeball at her own will.

Breaking open a Revive, I poured the special powder into San's Pokeball; I knew it would help him regain consciousness. However, he was tired and I knew that. Without his company, I drove on through the Dead Area toward the Irrigation Station.

With Dusclops secured in a pokeball Airlia was free to leave the Dead Area, the feeling of death and despair could be felt lingering over her heart. She had spent so long in area's like this the feeling had soon become a part of her. The grass below her soon became more greener and with every step she could sense the death that had followed her begining to disappear.

Arriving at the irrigation station an unfamiliar sight caught her attention, to her right a cloud of smoke rose into the air followed by a blast of flame. Pokemon could be seen running from the area obviously quite afraid of whatever it was that was making the disturbance.

Reached Irrigation Station.
