A figure stood statuesque and unmoving in the predawn light, his eyes down cast across the sleeping figure lying foetal like on the large oak framed bed. The night was dying quietly dawn readying a charge for the skies bringing the promise or morning and a fresh new day. Xanth stood in the silence, the only sound breaking the still the soft gentle rhythmic motion of sleep. Xanth stared coldly at the figure, feelings of pride and misery fighting for a place in his heart. He had been chosen for good reason or not he had been chosen to help safe guard this young prodigy on the journey to help him bring fame to his family and village. What a joke, a youths life for a mans dream but at least it was a future, it laid to rest the fears of Xanth growing old in this village and becoming a farmer like those who had come before. Now Xanth would be able to see the world or so they said hed never be bored again it sounded pointless to Xanth escort a youth on his journey to become a master of the art of the trainer, while everyone else seemed to manage it alone. He shook his head and turned the pink light spreading softly now across the edges of the clouds creating an ochre hue. All his life lay before him a world of unimaginable possibilities and yet he couldnt help fear leaving the quiet confines of the village in which he had spent his first 18 years, his coming of age not long passed, he now awaited his future unable to foresee where he would end up next. Xanth sighed, the sound of his own breath snapping him back into the present, he smiled at the 16 year old figure and turned once more towards the light mouthing bitterly days turn blue to grey. The sky echoed soft remorse pink twinges spreading gently over darkened clouds circling outwards in a display of quiet awe. Xanth watched smiling numbly, it was nearly dawn and soon his ward would wake and passage into a new land would begin. He fought down the uneasy feelings of excitement that came with the unknowing of your own fate. Around his head bounced the words of his fathers melody heard many times before now seeming to have new meaning in the spreading dawn. I want to see a world beyond the hills in which I grew, I want to see a life different from this life that I knew but most of all I want to see a place where I can lie and stare for hours dazed by the wonders of my life. Bird song broke the silence and within minutes a flurry of life exploded around the pleasant picturesque view from the window, small field creatures scurrying about their morning activity, farmers waking early to go ply their trades to the earth. The world seemed almost chaotic in a peaceful way and amongst all the raucous sounds of the dawn a figure stood behind Xanth slightly small unnoticed by the anxious watcher and smiled. My name is Vale. Xanth jumped, turning rapidly to where there had once been a sleeping figure now replaced with a fully dressed male with an amused smile planted across his face. I take it you must be my warden, Xanth was it? Yes I seem to remember and unusual name as such. He was average height, incredibly thin but despite his lack of mass had a reasonable frame. What Xanth noticed most was his face a drawn gaunt appearance, pale silvery white skin tone with shocking crystal blue eyes the whole face framed by untamed jet black hair he looked strangely unearthly. iii, I was told to wait here. Xanth swore inwardly at his hurried response formed before his mind could grasp hold of his scatter thoughts, his embarrassment made only worse by Vales obvious amusement. However there was no further communication Vale spun on his heel picked up a rucksack which Xanth had failed to notice until now propped against the back door. With this in hand he turned to his room giving it a educated look over before vanishing out the door. Xanth stood still for a moment before deciding it would be best to follow him. Vale was standing out on the doorstep of the host lodge staring up into the sky his eyes awash with amazement Look a legendary pokemon! Xanths eyes flashed up and then around to where he was point Xanth had never seen a legendary pokemon before he was certain it would be amazing to beholdXanth paused Thats a Pidgey. A what? Vale looked uncertain his eager eyes suddenly troubled. A pidgey a very common pokemon. Xanth said bemused by Vales lack of knowledge, he knew Vale was new to the Opadekka region recently but he had been told the child was a prodigy likely to become a master of pokemon. Could a Pidgey ever become a legendary pokemon? Vale asked his head tilted to one side face a wash with interest. Its about as likely as me becoming a Pidgey. Xanth retorted not sure if he was being had on. Havent you ever seen a Pidgey before? I havent ever seen a Pokemon. Vale replied simply But Im told if we head to the lab Ill be able to get my first one! He seemed untroubled by the fact that he was heading into a world he knew nothing about and marched off towards the transport provided which would take them to Little Hill moss town. Xanth stood in daze before following him to the transport and getting ready to embark. Xanth turned to the village and slapped himself lightly with his hand, what in seven forms of hell had possessed him to agree to this? Staring at the small two peddler hire bike which would take them to Little Hillmoss town and the start of their bitterly long journey, he sighed overenthusiastically and stared at the small bag placed beside the bike with dont forget this you idiot! written on the front in his fathers handwriting. What does it say? Vale asked eagerly his lack of the Opadekka written language becoming suddenly apparent. Xanth had almost forgotten he wasnt from Opadekka. I dont know. Xanth replied glumly I dont think the people who hired me to be your warden realised I have been raised on a farm and thus Im unfortunately illiterate I believe is the word you would use. Illiterate, Im sorry Im not quite understanding this word Vale replied in a puzzled tone. Xanth stared at the bike with two lovely sets of peddles but no handle bar to steer with and thus totally useless and then to his new master who had not only never seen a pokemon but now apparently didnt even know the Opadekka spoken language strongly. Never mind. It obvious youre going to become the best trainer that ever existed. Xanth muttered in a sarcastic tone. I mean all we really need in order to make our quest a success is divine intervention. With that he picked up the bag and began to walk the 5 miles it would take to get to Little Hillmoss town. Gods help me Xanth thought or at least maim him. |

Bane Like the eagle and the dove, Fly so high on wings above, When all you see can only bring you sadness, Like a river we will flow, On towards the sea we go, When all you do can only bring you sadness, Out on the sea of madness | |

(Try running it through a spell checker and putting a space between every paragraph, and you'll do much better. Good stuff.) The bag, whenever opened, contains 4000z, a PokeTech, and an Escape Rope with three charges. |
