Hooray for grass. Alex hadn't seen a proper expanse of grass in a while now, so he savoured the scenery, letting Dynamo run on ahead and bounce around in the greenery. Right now, he was headed for Moorfeldt. Just as a stop-off, nothing of great interest there... Oh. According to the poketech, there was a saddle maker in the nearby town. Alex's thoughts turned to Anarch. When the fish evolved, he would be plenty big enough to carry him and a couple of small pokémon across water. A detachable saddle would make such a ride more comfortable. Anarch was getting pretty close to evolving - maybe he would stay outside Moorfeldt for a while. It wouldn't hurt to check out prices there. He walked on through the grasslands, pointing himself in the direction of the city. Current Location: Trampled Grass 1 Destination: Moorfeldt City |

(0.2 :gexp) Luckily for Alex the path to Moorfeldt was not dangerous at all, all it was a simple walk across the grasslands really. However, his eyes soon began to droop as he walked through the lucious scenery. There was music in the air and to his ears it sounded so peaceful, so calm. Sitting down sounded like a fine idea and within seconds he had fallen into a deep sleep, awoken by the feeling of someone going through his bag he awoke with a start. Looks like a Jigglypuff, Kricketot and Meowth were working to rob trainers walking through the grass. Stolen Pokedex, Poketech Lv 16 Lv 15 Lv 15

(0.2 :gexp) The realisation that stuff was being stolen from his pack snapped Alex back to full alertness. Hadn't the wild pokémon learned yet not to try and rob him? They should have asked the last Rattata to try it. Except they couldn't. Because he ran it into the ground. He felt for his pokéballs, which were thankfully still there. Selecting two of them, he tripped the release mechanisms to reveal a Zubat and a Vulpix. Quickly identifying the Jigglypuff as the biggest threat, he called out his orders to his two pokémon. "Ruby, use Confuse Ray, then Flamethrower on that Jigglypuff. Tox, Poison Fang, same target. Roost if you get hit." Alex brought himself to his feet as he went into full-on vigilante mode. (0.2 :gexp) The trio of bandits were not used to their prey fighting back, startled Jigglypuff immediately curled into a ball and hurled herself at the enemy Vulpix. Vulpix's confuse ray proved useless against the tightly wrapped ball the puff ball made herself into. However, she was not immune to fire, the flamethrower hit her square on and reduced the speed of her attack by a significant amount. Kricketot crouched down and protected his weak body, the enemy Zubat flew over the battle field and with poison glinting off his fangs bit down hard on the exposed head of the bug pokemon. Meowth was last to react, dropping the items she had stolen she hurled her tiny body at Zubat biting down on his left wing. (0.2 :gexp) Okay, the bug wouldn't be doing anything for a while, and when that Bide hit, it wouldn't be debilitating as long as Alex was ready for it. The Meowth was annoying, and it would have to be extracted from Tox's wing before the bat could fully get back into the battle. The Jigglypuff, though, was the threat. It had started to roll, and if he didn't do something quick, his pokémon would have a tough time dealing with an attack that exploited their inherent weaknesses. Time to try something quite new. "Ruby, I want you to use Flamethrower to slow the Jigglypuff down, then use Extrasensory to separate Meowth from Tox. Once that's done, Tox, Poison Fang the Jigglypuff, then Roost." Alex hadn't tried out Extrasensory before, but given that it used psychic energy, it seemed like a decent move for getting rid of an attached pokémon. (0.3 :gexp) Jigglypuff roared through the flame that Vulpix created, although it did slow her down considerably she managed to generate enough force to send Vulpix hurtling to the ground. The fire fox picked herself up and concentrating on Tox and Meowth she managed to dislodge the cat from the bat. But because it was he first time using the technique she sent Tox crashing to the earth. Zubat flitted into the air and circled the spinning Jigglypuff, dive bombing the puff ball his sharp fangs pierced her squishy body sending toxins into her bloodstream. Meowth flipped over and landing nimble launched herself at Vulpix used a Bite attack on her hind leg. Tox took a moment to rest, flying to a nearby tree and landing in an old Pidgey nest. (0.2 :gexp) The Jigglypuff's rolling was getting dangerous. By now, the only two ways to stop its momentum were either to make it miss a strike, throwing off its rhythm, or to faint it before it did anything else. One sure strike should finish the pink puffball off, but getting a pokémon in that position was risky. Alex thought for as long as he dared, then outlined his next set of orders. "Ruby, blast the Jigglypuff with Flamethrower. If it goes for you, jump out of the way and keep burning it. Tox, Poison Fang the Jigglypuff if it doesn't go down. If it does, switch to Meowth. Roost off any damage you take." There was that Bide going off, but Alex could still afford to ignore the Kricketot until the bigger threats had been dealt with. (0.2 :gexp) Jigglypuff could feel the poison sapping her strength but she didnt care, she had to push through the pain in order to vanquish her enemies. Rolling at Vulpix once more she could feel the earth below her crumble due to her speed. Met with a towering flame Jigglypuff fought against the fire and burst through. Speeding through the puffball was on a bee-line for Vulpix, and this time nothing would slow her down. Vulpix was ready to follow her trainers instructions when she noticed something about Jigglypuff, the pokemon was not rolling on her own accord, stepping to the left the Jigglypuff slammed into a tree. (0.5 :exp) Flitting down towards Meowth Tox was greeted by the felines sharp claws. Slashing at Tox's left wing Meowth was hoping to tear it to ribbons. Fighting through the attack Tox hit Meowth with a Poison Fang right on the pokemon's unnaturally large head. Kricketot began to shake, suddenly a green light exploded from her antenna, striking Tox she once again hunched her body over to protect her organs. Using Roost once again Tox restored nearly all of the damage inflicted to him. Lv 17 20/34 Lv 15 28/30vs Lv 15 22/30 Lv 15 25/30Bide 0/2 |

(0.3 :gexp) One down. The Kricketot was still content to protect itself, so it remained no threat. Alex just had to make sure that neither of his pokémon hit it yet. If he timed his attacks right, his two pokémon could easily take it down while it was charging an attack. The Meowth was the next natural target. While the cat had its wits about it, it could still be quite troublesome. Best do something about that, then. "Ruby, Confuse Ray and Flamethrower on the Meowth. Tox, Poison Fang the Meowth, then Roost." Alex trusted Tox not to fly into the path of Ruby's Flamethrower. As long as the bug was sitting there absorbing energy, it was two against one. .2 The bug Bided its time yet again, storing energy... no energy if you didn't attack it. This left Meowth on it sown figuratively speaking. Two against one was never any good odds for a pokemon on the side with one. Confuse Ray hit, incapacitating the feline, and it was then hit with a massive;y large spread of flames known commonly as Flamethrower. The feline howled into the air, and turned to attack the firefox. Instead, it tripped over a clump of misplaced grass, stumbling to its face, leaving itself wide open for Tox to finish it off. Which is exactly what Poison Fang accomplished. (0.2 :gexp. Tox levels to 16, gains 1 :hpev) Alex's situation was now much better, and victory was almost assured. With the bug still storing energy, he was afforded some thinking time as he considered how best to close out the battle. Between them, Ruby and Tox should easily be powerful enough to defeat the lone Kricketot before the retaliation due to Bide kicked in. But just in case, he would wait. He told his two pokémon exactly what to do for the rest of this fight. "Okay, wait for it to move. That'll mean it's stopped storing energy. Once that happens, Ruby, use Flamethrower. Tox, hit it with Poison Fang. Take it down as quickly as you can, but only once it's released whatever energy it's stored." 0.2 :gexp. The already-weakened Kricketot, sadly, didn't stand a chance. Especially against a Flamethrower and a Poison Fang. The bug collapsed onto the grassy ground in a smoldering heap. Aw. Both Ruby and Tox gain 0.5 :exp. Also, both of your Pokédex and your Pokétch were lying on the ground near the fallen Kricketot. Amazingly, both worked in perfect functioning order. What luck! There weren't any other pokémon in the area (which made sense, seeing that you reduced this trio to an unconscious heap), so you were in the clear. |

That would teach those critters not to try and steal from him.Alex retrieved his pair of gadgets without a fuss, and stowed them safely away once he had covinced himself of their working condition. He gave a hearty word of congratulations to both his victorious battlers, and recalled Ruby. Tox stayed out while Alex gave the bat another pep talk. "That new Roost move is coming in very useful. It's certainly made you a better battler, Tox. It won't be long before you evolve, and then the fun really begins. You did great just then." Tox flitted over to Alex, who gave the bat a friendly scrit behind the ear and a morsel of pokémon food. It may have looked like favouritism to the outsider, but if Tox was to become a Crobat one day, he would need all the affection and trust-building exercises he could get. Alex's other pokémon knew that; after he had explained to them how the Zubat line grew and evolved, they understood, and were happy for the bat to recieve love and care. Just as long as they got in on some of it, too. Alex recalled Tox, and continued on towards town. Dynamo and Mime were walking alongside, as usual, scouting for avoidable signs of trouble. (Shootin' for some for Tox. Again.)

(0.1 :gexp) One rest stop later, and Alex was back in the grasslands. He would train here until Anarch evolved and could be fitted with a saddle. Dynamo was with him, of course, as was little Mime. Alex had also let out Loki for the time being, hoping to get the last traces of mistrust and resentment out of the bird's system. Loki was glad to be outside, and Alex allowed him to stretch his wings a bit. The plan, if Loki went along with it, was to get in some training for the Murkrow while he was here, find out what strategies best suited him. "Having fun Loki?" The Murkrow cawed contentedly. He was starting to warm to Alex; the trainer hadn't really done anything bad except capture him in the first place. "I want to try and ease you into some battles. If you'll let me, we can start working on your battling style, see if we can't make it more effective. It'll be worth it in the long run, trust me." Another caw answered him, as Loki swooped in to hover around Alex's head. Without even trying to peck his eyes out. How about that. "Okay, let's find you something to battle." Off they went, surveying the area, searching for a suitable pokémon to train against. (Trying to spread the love around, this time to Loki.) Location: Trampled Grass 1 (stationary) |

(0.2 :gexp) Excellent. For now, at least, Alex didn't have to worry about the Spearow trying any tricky business, like trying to blind Loki with sand or fixing him with any death gazes. He only had to worry about that sharp beak and induced ferocity. He knew that the Spearow would come in to attack, so Alex needed to figure out how best to work that to his advantage. Coming up with a course of action, he relayed it to his Murkrow. "Okay Loki, it'll be coming in to attack. Meet it with a Wing Attack, then wheel round and Faint Attack. Watch for its beak." The bird probably didn't need to be told that, but it was best to mention it anyway. At least this way, he could find out Loki's resilience to attacks. (0.2 :gexp) The Spearow was still too blinded by rage to fight as it normally would, and it would likely stay that way for the rest of the battle. Loki wouldn't be able to finish the other bird off unless he was quite lucky - wait a minute. Murkrow were known for being almost supernaturally lucky creatures anyway. Either way, Loki was in a good position. If he played it smart, he would win. "Loki, keep using Faint Attack and get behind it. You've almost got him." Two, maybe three more attacks. (0.2 :gexp) Loki cawed in triumph as he circled back towards Alex. Thanks largely to his taunting abilities, the bird had won. Alex ran a hand down Loki's feathered back as he congratulated him on a job well done. "Excellent work, Loki. I noticed taunting leaves you a bit more open to damage, so we'll think of a way around that for next time, maybe focus on your aerial agility. But well done, that Spearow was tough. You should be proud of your battling out there." Loki chirred contentedly as Alex kept up his stroking. The Murkrow had gained some confidence after that fight, and he was ready for more. Just as soon as he rested up - that fight took more out of him than he would have liked to admit. As if reading his thoughts, Alex smiled. "You should rest up for a bit. Sprinting as fast as her little legs could carry her she launched her body at Sifter. The water pokemon stood there a smile plastered to her face she didnt even try to avoid the attack knowing full well that Protect would do as it name implies protect her from harm. The shimmering wall lit up and the sheep was sent to the ground hurt and embaressed. Lv 18 36/36vs Lv 14 16/28

(0.2 :gexp) He was right - there was no way that Mareep would win against Sifter. It would have to be somewhat lucky to even land a blow. He'd just faint it quickly, and be on his way. Just then, his poketech beeped. Alex fiddled around with the device curiously, to discover that he had a message. Some kid named Prosper, who had seen that he was fighting a Mareep. Thanks to the wonders of GPS location, all trainers registered with the league had all of their battles monitored, for legal and statistical purposes. This Prosper fellow must have done a search for anyone who was battling a Mareep, and sent out a message to the ones that were, in real-time. Marvellous piece of kit, this poketech. Turns out he was looking for Mareep, but he wasn't in an area that housed them. He was willing to negotiate a price with anyone who caught one for him. Alex decided to take this Prosper up on his offer. If nothing else, he could always use some extra coin for pay for saddles and move tutors. It probably didn't matter that this Mareep would resent him for capturing it, because he wasn't the one who would be training it. He called out to Sifter. "Sifter, one more Mud Shot, then hold off. I'm gonna try and catch it." Dynamo perked up at this. Why would Alex need another electric-type? The pup was all he needed, surely? "Don't worry Dynamo, it's for someone else." Placated, Dynamo went back to spectating the battle. Alex readied a pokéball, choosing to lob it at the Mareep after Sifter had attacked. (0.3 :gexp) Alex now had a reason to catch Mareep and of course with the entire training world watching he surely wouldnt want to fail would he? Sifter had her commands once again she threw dirt into her mouth and using the powerful water jet that was located in her mouth she fired dirt at the now starlted mareep. Responding to the attack Mareep sent a cloud of wool to Sifter which ensnared the water pokemon. It was all in vein however, Alex pulled a pokeball from his pack and launching a fast ball at the weakened electric type he watched in interest as did Prosper if the pokemon would stay in the ball. Shaking a few times, jolts of electricity ran over the balls surface she wasnt happy at being attacked but lacked the strength to fight. 2x for Mareep.

(0.2 :gexp) That turned out to be relatively painless. Once he was sure that the ball had stopped moving, Alex stepped over to it and retrieved it, sending the contents back to his PC storage. He then pulled out his poketech again, sending a message to Prosper that he had managed to catch a Mareep. The two of them could sort something out in Poketechopia at some later date. He put the multi-purpose device away and went over to Sifter, who looked very pleased with herself. "See Sifter? I told you you'd never have to worry about Mareep again. You didn't even get scratched." The mudfish let out a cry of triumph, pleased at her new-found 'leccy absorbing abilities. Alex recalled her, and resumed his searching. One more, then he'd go into town and check on his Magikarp. The fish would be close to evolution by now. Location: Trampled Grass 1 (stationary) |

.2 Good day. Happy times. Sweet scents. Awful aromas. The day was filled with things to please your senses. With the capture of the sheep, your team and list of pokemon captured grew by one more, and gaining Sifter even more confidence in its own abilities. Then, merrily along came a Jigglypuff, waddling out from behind some grass that hadn't been trampled. It stared blankly at you, ready to let loose with the vocals at the slightest sign of aggression while it passed through the grasslands. ![]() ![]() level 15 30/30 |

(0.2 :gexp) The Jigglypuff looked at Alex. Alex looked back at it. He didn't really want to fight a Jigglypuff. Too much narcolepsy involved. Mime seemed to think it was quite interesting, though, and he waddled out to the pink puffball in the same style he had seen it just do. The little psychic played for a few moments, acting as a mirror for the Jigglypuff. Luckily for the mime, it was soundproof, so the pink pokémon's singing wouldn't affect it. The problem was that Alex and Dynamo were't soundproof. They could be sent to sleep, and the last time that happened, some pokémon had tried to rob him. He wasn't going to let that happen again. Alex motioned to Mime to come back, and the psychic obliged, contenting himself with mimicking his trainer again. The trainer nodded to the Jigglypuff, turned, and headed back towards town. He had some things to take care of there. Location: Trampled Grass 1 Destination: Moorfeldt City |

Opening its mouth wide the superstar pokemon let out a chorus that was quite fitting as a good bye song. The notes floated through the air to Alex's ears instantly he felt his brain begin to shut down, he was getting tired simply from catching the tail end of her song. Running into town to avoid the 'puff Alex was visibly happy to be out of range of the assualt. Arrived- Moorfeldt |

(0.2 :gexp) Having a town nearby was very handy. It meant that Alex could heal his pokémon almost whenever he felt like it, and he could chop and change his team as he saw fit. Right now, Anarch was back with him, the Magikarp having grown quite a bit since he hatched some time ago. Alex had brought him out now because the fish was about to evolve. It would be an event not to be missed. A rumbling at his belt caught his attention. The trainer quickly detached the shaking pokéball, and released Anarch. The fish flopped on the ground for a few seconds, then started to glow a brilliant white. ow, Alex had seen this glow before. He'd watched Sifter evolve, and that was impressive enough. Like Sifter, Anarch started to grow. His body lengthened and stretched, his jaw widened out. He reached Alex's size, then surpassed it, and kept going after that. The glow only started to fade once Anarch had gone well past twenty feet. Orange scales were replaced by blue, and where a puny fish had once lay, there was now possibly the most feared and ferocious of all water pokémon. Alex looked on, impressed. "Welcome back, Anarch. How are you feeling?" Anarch was taking a moment to get used to his new body. He had never felt such power, such a commanding presence. He wasn't a weakling anymore, he was something to be feared and respected. And it was all thanks to the efforts of the one who hatched him. The beast let out a great roar, testing out his new voice. He liked what he heard. Dynamo kept quiet. The pup was quite outdone in the intimidation department, and was just glad that this monstrosity was on his side. Mime did his own impression of Anarch's roar, which turned out to be both amazingly cute and rather hilarious. With this evolution, Anarch was by far the largest pokémon Alex had. As tall as he was at the head, and over three times as long, the Gyarados was large enough to be able to ferry him across water. An appointment would have to be made with the local saddlemaker, but for now, he'd let Anarch enjoy his new self. Maybe even give some unsuspecting wild pokémon a nasty shock while he was at it. He recalled Anarch, and patrolled the immediate area for something to battle. Location: Trampled Grass 1 (stationary) |

(0.3 :gexp) Anarch's evolution was not seen by any of the pokemon in the surrounding areas. They were too busy with what they doing and this happened to be mating. Well trying to at least. From a nearby bush a meowth and nidoran walked out, their heads were down and their steps were shuffled. Without even looking up at Alex the miserable duo walked past the human and between themselves they spoke with sadness clearly heard in their voices. Meowth held up his paw and inspected his claws, "What do I have to do to get her to notice me?" Nidoran headbutted a nearby tree, "Who knows maybe we should just give up." In the distance Alex could see a Glameow grooming herself and a Nidoran sunbaking her mouth open. Looks like these two poor bachelors had no game, care to help out? |

(0.2 :gexp) Alex didn't know what these two pokémon were saying, but he coiuld get the general idea, looking at them and over to the female pokémon they were trying to attract. Dynamo, however, spoke fluent pokétongue, and he yapped at Alex, hoping he would get the message and allow the pup to help. "Go for it, Dynamo. See if you can do anything." The pup trotted over to the two unlucky bachelors, and introduced himself to them. Alex had no idea what he was saying to them, of course. But the conversation did go something like the following: "Having some trouble with the ladies? Well, you're in luck, 'cause Dynamo's here to help you out! Look, giving up just because it looks hard won't get you anywhere. You gotta go for it, seize the day and all that." The Meowth and Nidoran looked unimpressed, so Dynamo started to impart some actual wisdom. "There's really only one rule - be confident. Women love a guy who's confident. It's worked for me loads of times, so there's no reason why it won't work for you." Okay, Dynamo was exaggerating a bit. It had worked once. And that didn't really work out in the long run, but hey - the ruins collapsed, not his fault. Forces beyond his control. The pup nodded towards the two soon to be lucky ladies. Even if it doesn't work out, hey - not the end of the world. Now go get 'em!" |

Walking up to the two women both the male studs confidently spoke to the Glameow and Nidoran. Unfortunately for the men the ladies werent interested in their smooth talking ways.Laughing at the duo they turned their backs and talked amongst themselves. Upset both Meowth and Nidoran turned back to face Dynamo. "It didnt work," mumbling Meowth looked at Dynamo. "And its all your fault!" then in a fit of rage he extended his claws and began to scratch relentlessly at the face of the electric pup. (0.2 :gexp) Dynamo was taken by surprise as the two disgruntled bachelors attacked him. He knew that it wasn't a good idea to try and take them on by himself, so he turned and hightailed it back to Alex, looking for some sort of backup. When Alex saw Dynamo being chased, and looking to have been poisoned, he quickly got out an antidote to tend to his injured pup. He then produced Anarch's pokéball, and released the newly-evolved behemoth. He didn't know how this had started, but those two pokémon would find out what happened when they picked on one of his own. The sudden appearence of a Gyarados in the grasslands would probably come as a bit of a shock to them. Alex hoped to use this to his advantage; he would let Anarch "play" with them until Dynamo was de-toxified. If the sea serpent was doing well enough, then Dynamo might not even need to fight. "Okay Anarch, let's see what your new abilities are like. Start with Dragon Dance, then Aqua Tail that Nidoran." The Gyarados was several dozen times the size of his opponents. (0.3 :gexp) The sight of Anarch was enough to send Meowth cowering for cover, Nidoran on the other hand was still to enraged to back down. Charging at the enemy he slowed and stalked his prey as the giant serpent began to rythmically move his long tail. The ancient dance was a sign of power in the world of dragons, it helped the user focus on the battle and move faster and attack harder then ever. Nidoran decided that he couldnt wait any longer jumping at the giant beast he ferociously began to slam his horn into the enemy. Anarch looked down with an open mouth the attacks didnt appear to do any damage to him. Meowth took this pause as a chance to attack, rushing in he bit down on the tail of Anarch. (0.2 :gexp) Alex looked on as Anarch smacked the Meowth around like it was a toy. The beast clearly enjoyed his new body and power. These pokémon he was fighting were puny - what could they possibly do to something like him? His trainer was exercising a bit more caution. Size and strangth alone might very well win this battle, but it wouldn't hurt to instill a sense of strategy and planning in the Gyarados. It would come in handy when the beast battled something whose strangth was on a par with his own. Nonetheless, Anarch was doing well. Well enough, in fact, for Alex to keep Dynamo on the sidelines for now. First things first - get the Meowth out of the way. "Keep it up Anarch. Dragon Dance, then use Aqua Tail on the Meowth." Alex was seeing the merits of the dance - the fact that Anarch's attack was so high to begin with was an added bonus. "Anarch" Lv. 20 - 32/40 ![]() Ability: Intimidate *Atk +1, Spd +1* Vs. Anarch battle-hardened mind was easily able to stop the pain from affecting his performance. Once again relying on the ancient dance he slammed Meowth into the ground. Nidoran was still ferociously slashing at Gyarados with his sharpened horn. He was quite pissed before the giant had begun to assualt his friend, that just sent his anger over the top. (0.2 :gexp) Dynamo glanced away from the commotion of the battle to see the two ladies from before, who had taken an interest in the battle. Getting an idea, he checked to make sure that Alex didn't need his services, then trotted over to the two spectators. "Hi, I'm with that Gyarados. He's just working off some issues. Look, I was the one who told those two to talk to you in the first place, so don't blame them. Right now, they're fighting a freakin' Gyarados for you. There aren't many guys who'd do that. Heck, I'd have second thoughts about it, and I can spout thunder." The pup paused as Anarch smacked his tail into the Nidoran, sending it flying. "All I'm saying is give them a chance, alright? Well, after they've woken up again. 'Cause this won't be pretty. Like I said, Anarch's got a lot of rage." Alex had seen this conversation, and had told Anarch to start working on the Nidoran. (0.2 :gexp) The ladies couldnt look at Dynamo when he spoke, they were far too interested in the battle that raged behind him. The giant beast was a new face to the grasslands and here was Meowth and Nidoran standing up to him. Meowth clung to the tail of the beast, to Glameow it proved that he would be commited. She began to purr the more she thought of it. Gyarados changed his target to Nirdoran Alex's plan was to impress the ladies with the poison pokemons resilence. Being slammed around by the giant tail of Gyarados was not a position to be in but despite being knocked to the ground hard Nidoran clamboured to his feet. His horn shining for a moment, then with amazing accuracy he fired a barrage of poisonous needles at the beast. The female Nidoran's eyes widened as she watched him attack, him getting up proved he would be dedicated to her no matter how bad things got. (0.3 :gexp) Dynamo nodded, and ran back to Alex's side. The pup barked out to Anarch's two opponents, relaying the message he had just been given. It was good news for Meowth and Ndoran, but they did have the small issue of a raging sea serpent bashing them to pieces. Taking Dynamo's barking as a cue, Alex gave the orders to Anarch to stop playing around. "Finish it off, Anarch. Aqua Tails for both of 'em." With a swipe of his massive tail, the Gyarados aimed first for the Nidoran, the one not currently clinging to his tail. (0.2 :gexp. Anarch levels to 21.) This, right here, was why Alex had bought a Magikarp egg. Anarch had taken on two pokémon at once, and had not only won, but looked convincing doing it. The great beast let out a roar of triumph that could probably be heard over in the town. No doubt that it would scare off anything that wasn't either supremely brave, profoundly deaf or completely reckless. Alex had to admit, this one was a keeper. "Excellent, Anarch. We might have to find something stronger for you to battle in future." The trainer gave Anarch a couple more moments to savour his victory, then recaled the beast. Along with Dynamo and Mime, he headed back towards town. Maybe now he could finally inquire about tricking out Anarch with a saddle. There were other continents in Opaddeka, it would be helpful if he was able to get to them to explore them. Current Location: Trampled Grass 1 Destination: Moorfeldt City |

(0.1 :gexp) This time, Alex had a clear idea of where he was headed. As soon as he left the city, he headed north, towards the river. He had a theory to test, namely, that since Anarch was so big, he might not actually require a saddle to ride him on the water. He could just sit behind the sea serpent's head, hold on to Dynamo and Mime, and set sail. He did have to get there first, though. So Alex marched purposefully towards the river, Mime marching in sync, Dynamo trotting on his other flank. Finding a wild pokémon right now was bumped down the list of importance, although his Vulpix was nearly ready to be evolved. Alex shook his head. That could wait - he needed to test a possible mode of aquatic transport first. Location: Trampled Grass 1 Destination: Riverside 1 |

.2 Making your way through grass that had been trampled proved to be rather easy. You could see any hinderances as you moved, and any wild creatures could spot you probably before you could spot them. This made for a rather boring move across the grasslands. But, then again, quickness was the goal of your little expedition. The grass around you rose to the normal height, no longer trampled, as you spotted the water ahead of you. A river. It wasn't exactly the best place to try out riding on top of a mighty beast like Gyarados... but, it would have to do for now. Reached: Riverside 1 |

(0.2 :gexp) It wasn't exactly the open sea, but the river was a body of water nonetheless, and it was still wide and deep enough to accommodate Anarch's body. Once he was at the edge of the water, Alex unclipped the relevant pokéball and released the Gyarados into the water. When Anarch realised he was in water, he moved forward experimentally, cutting through the water with ease. A sharp turn, and a wave splashed onto the far bank, drenching anything that may have been standing too close to the edge. Alex noted this, and took a few steps back as Anarch turned again, so he was just out of range of the splashback. Anarch came to a halt where he started, and Alex strode back up to him. "Anarch, we're here because I want to try something. I want to see if you can ferry us along water. If you'll let me, I can climb onto your back and we can cross the oceans together, find new places to explore. That okay with you?" Anarch nodded his massive head. He quite enjoyed the idea of swimming great distances, and the only way his trainer could keep up with him is if he carried the man. The beast was easily strong enough to do it. He lowered his head so that Alex could climb up on his upper back, just behind his head. Dynamo and Mime both leapt up as well, nestling themselves in front of Alex so that he could keep hold of them. Once he made sure he was balanced properly, Alex gave the word. "Let's go." The Gyarados lifted his head carefully, then set off down the river. Slowly at first, so Alex could get used to riding. When he felt confident enough to do so, Alex told Anarch to speed up a bit. The ride was suprisingly smooth, and Alex quickly became used to the gentle swaying of Anarch's head as he moved through the water. "Anarch, I want you to follow the coast. Keep heading up until you hit fog, then look out for buildings." Alex had just described a place called Misthenge. If they kept sight of land to their left, eventually they would hit the city. It was characterised by surrounding fog, they couldn't miss it. Not if they stayed close enough to the coast. Location: Riverside 1 (Attempting a shortcut along the coast to Misthenge) |

Reach for the stars, and you'll hit the roof.

.3 Test things out in the smaller river before your might beats heads out into the ocean. Fairly good approach. But, you should have confidence that your creature can ferry you. After all, it is a Gyarados. The sea serpent had no problems whatsoever doing its job of swimming with you riding along. In fact, it rather enjoyed being able to stretch itself in the water, where it felt most at home. +1 to GyaradosAs you drifted, the land to your right passed by much quicker than it would if you were walking. Maybe there was something to this ferrying thing... *I guess you could post in the ocean... if you want...* |
