Damn little blighter. The wormlike sea dragon glared up at her and made distance through the grass, wiggling its body through the artificial blades, becoming nothing but a blob of blue against the endless emerald sea. The lavender-blond human passed a hand over her face automatically, even though there was no actual pain from the blow that really would have disfigured her had it been real instead of virtually simulated. There was a semi-permanent look of disappointment on her face, frowning after the dragon and following its trek through the grass. At a reasonable distance of course. Somehow, she couldnt really blame the baby for her sour attitude. As a mother, she had been rather neglectful, trying to give her away once to a trainer only to have him return it back to her and never take her out afterwards from that isolated prison in the computer world. As a Pokemon trainer and collector, she should have been more ecstatic to be in possession of such a rare and potentially powerful creature, and the possibilities of its limitless power was not lost on her. But she only trained Pokemon that were usefulshe had no use for a Dratini or its evolutionary form, Dragonite, in her plans to comeplans which were, even to her, indefinite and vague. What purpose did she serve anymore? She wasnt ever going home, or find her brother ever again A breeze, strangely lifelike, passed and sent the tresses fling behind her. Like a friend she once knew often had, she turned towards it, though didnt feel its reassuring caress. Sometimes I wish you were still here with me. She passed a hand through her disheveled locks and breathed slowly, willing the tears away. Too much, too long, too alonethere was no place for tears or self-pity. She could only move forward and make the best of it. A drab life of existing without actually existing, because of her cowardice of considering the alternative, and that damnable hope that things just might brighten up someday if she just kept trying. She hoped it was at least sometime soonshe was beginning to wonder if it was all worth it. One more weary sigh, and she stalked off after the sulking Ahryu, whod decide to take shelter within a random hollow virtual tree. If only she could just curl up in a hole like her and never leave. |

"Fancy meeting you here, Varso." As it now seemed customary for the ninja to do so, he stepped out from behind the same tree trunk that the Dratini had slithered into for recluse from her trainer. Neuron could not remember each of the countless times that he had stepped around the corner just so to confront other fellow officers in the police Headquarters, but it had become so natural that it simply felt right to do it. Not that he had any choice in the matter in his current state anyway; he didn't intentionally surprise Jemilie, he just happened to be in the right position at the wrong time. Of course, he knew that if the girl had been paying much attention, it would have been his own folly to hope that such an elementary tactic would work. He had both worked with and against Jemilie Varso on different occasions, and he knew quite well what she was capable of. It would not be advantageous for Neuron to underestimate this girl. After all, it was one of the few trainers whom he had come across in his journey that he truly respected. Nevertheless, situation had it that the most unlikely of things was to come together into reality. Never mind Jemilie, it would be impossible to get a Dratini - be it wild or tamed - to voluntarily find a haven in a spot as close to a human being as the tree had been to Neuron. Not seeing the man behind the tree would be a laughable excuse; Pokemon tend to have better senses than that. Eying the rare creature warily, Neuron smiled knowingly inside. It seemed Jemilie was not the only one upset. However, she was not the only one having difficulties with her Pokemon. In truth, Neuron was out walking with one of his own Pokemon - one that was computerized in the real world so that the two barely had time to interact with each other. In terms of their friendship, Neuron wasn't faring any better than Jemilie. His own Absol frolicked by itself quite a bit aways from the human without any regard for him. He had not even once used or acquainted himself with it since purchasing it at a trainer's shop back in the old Legacy long time ago. He was lucky that it didn't hate him enough to chew him out. Exasperated, he turned to Jemilie yet again, wondering what kind of take she would have on the situation. After all, he had not have enough encounters to thoroughly grasp the girl's personality. |

The girl froze in her steps at the site of the figure, momentarily perturbed by his sudden presence, but soon found her mind spiraling into further discord as memory tugged at her. It hadnt been long enough to forget him, even when their encounters had been brief and shared nothing beyond a purely professional mutuality. Very few trainers shed managed to meet, and fewer still who had earned any sort of respect from her. Not that she could refer to him as an ally or even a friend, with the stoicism that he layered upon himself like an obscuring cloud; distant and unreachable to everyone. Even now, when she felt her feet move and listened to her blood rushing in her ears, an overbearing tide of emotion threatening to bring her to her knees, she couldnt cross the insurmountable wall hed erected between them and stopped just short of its base. A hand had reached for him, expression almost pleading, and retreated to her chest, clutching at the silver cross that settled there instead. Longso youre here as well, she managed to whisper, head lowered to shadow her eyes from his. I was beginning to think I was the only one that made it. How long had it been since the shift? One month, several? Time, as with everything else, had lost meaning to her, operating solely on a pre-programmed drive to survive at all costs, despite recognizing the glaring reality of how irrelevant her existence had become. Just what use was she now, with no home to return to and no one to protect? Her eyes gradually raised, not once daunted meeting the piercing silver of his gaze. Surely any other person would not have felt so calm in such an enigmatic presence, but Jemilie never felt such distress. Long was very well what she considered the Legacy Polices most dangerous officer, in that no one could ever be sure of where his loyalties lied or the extent of his capabilities beyond a monster trainer. At least she knew she could best him in that area if ever she had to face him in battle, but he struck her a man who always had a plan B for every failure. Just thinking about it made her quake inside, but she couldnt sense any such danger around him. He was an expert in veiling his intensions, or he trusted her that much. She couldnt imagine the latter of being true. Her head swung, gazing at the tree hollow, catching only a glimpse of movement within. It didnt look like Ahryu was going anywhere anytime soon, and with the faintest glance to the strange white figure roaming nearby, concentrated on him instead. Her voice remained soft, but her words her strong and sure, as they had been when she had been leader. It didnt seem our little plan against the King had gone so well, huh. No matter now, I suppose. What are you doing with yourself Long, now that you dont have the Police to cater your services to? Not the most heartwarming way to greet an old acquaintance. Hell, it had been so long since she even talked to anyone besides her own Pokemon. She didnt even feel much of a human anymore. Itsnice to see at least one familiar face, she amended quietly. ((Ohh...it took me over two weeks to reply and it was only half-decent! x_X Sowwy Meph.)) |
