Lul, because I forgot to continue. Continued from here.

There were four of them.

The largest figure, the human pokémon trainer named Alexandra, who held a second, a Zigzagoon that wasn't truly hers and was only warming herself in her arms. The other two were a Pidgey and Taillow pair, flapping overhead. They had passed through the Hillmoss Grasslands and into Murmur Valley, though without knowing. None of them, except perhaps the Taillow or the Zigzagoon, knew the land. Alexandra and Chayton, of the Legacy region that was no more, were lost without help.

The Murmur Valley lived up to its name, known or not. The only things that she could hear were distant things, and the incessant flapping of her birds' wings. Finding it eerie and being set on edge because of it, Alexandra hurried forward. She wanted to get to this Misthenge place as soon as possible, so she could go to a place where she could see more than three feet in front of her.

Anything thrown at the trainer would be uninspiring, the thoughts and constraints of training were baffling at such low levels. She wandered for several miles, a Zigzagoon wrapped tightly in a makeshift blanket close to her chest. She wandered for sometime through the fog through an awkward straight line. Straying from trees as to not run into them, and staying far from the tall grass as not to disturb any Pokemon who called this route home. The city lights in the distance acting as a beacon of hope for the world weary trainer, passing a line where the fog thinned and became less harsh. Her visuals cleaned up of the dense air, she was free to walk the path into her destination.

What I'm trying to say is.

Finally, a town.

The village seemed odd — crouching in the mist like a cat on a fence at night. But still, she was tired and Rayen was still unconscious in his pokéball. She had no position to be picky about which town she entered. So, with the Zigzagoon that was deciding to catch up in its z's in her arms still there, she recalled Chayton and Streak into their pokéballs and entered the town alone.

Entered Misthenge.

Her memory was spotted from the battle last night, but she could now piece together — with Rayen's and Ekhidna's memories combined — what had happened. Obviously, that trainer was a nut. He couldn't take it that he had lost, for some reason, and must've thought that attacking her would've been the best way to 'win'. Of course, the attack that he had commanded his Cyndaquil to do wasn't a front-on assault. The Flamethrower had actually soared over her head, though the searing heat and occasional ember was enough to drop unconscious with burns to continue to feel for some time now. (She assumed that the trainer had been smart enough to communicate this ahead of time. If the Flamethrower had hit her directly, he might be wanted for murder right about now.)

Sure, she might look a little scary, but just in time for Halloween. The girl now had dark red patches of burns on her face, shoulders, hands — she looked just about as frightening as someone in a zombie costume. Rayen, healed at the Pokémon Center, fared much better. To think, humans came up with more technology to heal their companions and subjects, but not enough to heal themselves.

The Chikorita was the only one accompanying the trainer this day — at her side, at least. She had Streak and Ekhidna, her new companion Zigzagoon, contained in their pokéballs on her belt. The speech between the girl and the leaf pokémon was minuscule, and unnecessary. They knew what they were going to do. They were going to go and train and make sure they would be stronger, as to avoid any further misfortunes like last night. And, though Alex didn't communicate this, she wanted desperately to find her brother again.

The burns on her face hurt the worst, but the mists that congested the Valley soothed them slightly. Still, every twitch in her facial expression brought on a mask of pain. She simply tried to remain inexpressive.

So the stone-faced girl and her companion Chikorita set out into the mists, unintentionally heading north.

Hey look, it's your brother! Or a tree, whichever guess turns out to be true.

Hey look, it was the tree all along!

Through bad jokes, somebody wasn't finding anything funny at all. He actually found things to be quite foul. The stench in the air grew thick, a trail of chemically burned grass laid in front of you. Where they lead was anyone's guess. But they did lead to a something, or a someone. A big glob of purple, a pair of white eyes with two simple black pupils. Standing tall and stinking up the joint. He stared forward at the trainer and only let out what seemed to be an empty scream, only a trail of his vile purple saliva fell from his mouth onto the floor. Such a disgusting creature!

And he wants a hug! The big lug sauntered over to rub his grimy body all over you.

What an original name for a Grimer, Grimy!

It was funny. As Alex and her companion Chikorita approached passed the tree and just entered the vicinity of the Grimer, she could almost feel it before smelling. The fumes — prior to getting to where she could smell them — made the burns on her face react in a way that was very different from the cooling sensation of the mist alone. She paused then, and noticed as the burning got worse and worse.

Then the Grimer was there, starting to try to hug her legs.

It felt like someone was pouring scalding water over her. She couldn't explain it, but the Grimer's existence seemed to be the bane of her own. She walked back, trying to avoid the slimy pokémon to any extent possible. "Rayen!" The Chikorita stepped in between the Grimer and Alex. "Warn it off, please!"

The Chikorita knew that it wouldn't hurt the Grimer much (which was part of the point), so he shot off a quick warning Razor Leaf. A dangerous glimmer in his red eyes showed that he might want to sneak off somewhere else.

Rayen's prehensile headstalk whipped around, producing from its underside a flurry over smaller versions of itself; they hammered into the puddle that was the grimer like a shotgun blast, blasting holes deep into it and slightly pulling it apart. It stopped, shocked, while it naturally recongealed into an uninterrupted shape, and the leaves that had assailed it shrivelled and dissolved into it, becoming just a little bit more carbon sludge.

The grimer's misshapen, incohesive face reformed in a distinctly wounded expression. Not physically; he seemed almost perfectly unimpressed by the attack made on him in the long run. But apparently this grimer was kind of emotionally fragile; for his show of random affection to be so ruthlessly rebuffed... he looked like he was about to cry.

Of course, those tears could probably be used as an industrial solvent, but even so.

Where she had been going with the warning of a Razor Leaf, she could scarcely think. She was too busy focusing on backing up a few more paces, trying to recede into the cooling, soothing mist. But Rayen was standing his ground between them, and she didn't want to get too far behind him. So she withstood it, watching as the Grimer proceeded to... fall into tears.

She had expecting something more... tough than that. But there it was — very near sobbing acid-like substance into its grimy hands. She felt some strange kind of pity through the mask of pain that was stretched across her face. Pity didn't tell you how to deal with things like this, though.

"It's— It's not your fault," she said bleakly, knowing that the Grimer couldn't help what it is, but still... "I'm sorry." She started off from the Grimer with Rayen following. The Grimer's reaction was far beyond her knowledge, though.

Grimer sobbed, looking up to some concern from the girl. He was emotionally poor, receiving far less in the Pokemon Kingdom, and this was the most he had gotten in the longest time. He watched her leave, and began to lose control of all of his emotions, the tears growing more and more. He moved forward, following after the girl feeling he wanted to be closer to her in some way. He followed close behind, trying to get closer with each step she took. He was some kind of stalker, stopping when she stopped, and following when she continued. Then, the sudden sound of something horrible from the shrubbery the fog held a creature in the fog. A dangerous monster that had been beaten up several times in the last couple of weeks and sought to fix his losing streak by beating up something that was physically weaker then him.

The Carnivine was huge, about six feet tall, two feet taller then the norm. The beast roared and slapped his tentacle vines onto the grounds in an effort to show he meant harm. He sent them forward in an effort to attack the girl, but quickly the Grimer jumped in front of the swinging vines. Taking the brute force of the vines and nearly crushing him of all vitality. Weak, the venus fly trap roared into the sky showing dominance over his opponent. The Grimer shriveled, his body giving an entire shudder of weakness. The Grimer was defending somebody he barely knew, he was desperate for friendship.

She was struggling to get away from something that wanted nothing more but her friendship, and she couldn't say that she didn't feel anything. She felt horrible for the poor little pool of sludge, but she couldn't help but feel revulsion for it. It was a horrible thing, yes, but she couldn't help the fact the she could smell. Not to mention the burns on her face that seemed to react to every single thing the world had in store for her.

It was following her — seemingly intent on the friendship it had in mind. Rayen was growling, waving around the sharp leaf on his head in warning. But it kept coming.

And when things couldn't get any worse...

Alexandra had just started to turn around when she heard the snarling sound and made a muffled cry as she saw the overgrown Carnivine. She stepped back (nearly tripping over Rayen in the process) and looked on in wonder as the courageous Grimer slipped in front of her to defend her.

You didn't see things like that every day.

"Rayen!" she commanded; the Chikorita dashed in front of her to help the Grimer battle the Carnivine. "Streak!" as she tossed the pokéball containing her Taillow. The bird flapped over to join his companion in battle. The two worked to get before the large Carnivine and the injured Grimer. The Chikorita dashed around the plant, spreading poisonous spores around the venus fly trap before Body Slamming into it. Streak was much more up-front — he Focused his Energies and then unleashed a powerful Air Slash down onto the trap's face.

The Carnivine reared up and made himself taller by standing on the tips of his appendages. He whipped his hands around, the trainer ducking under to avoid their slender grip. The Carnivine witnessed a new dawn of enemies, drawing from a sphere and another leaping from behind her trainer. The Grimer proved to be a nuisance as well, defending the girl who he saw as his primary target. He hated humans, and had his fair share of beatings from a ninja the past couple of months. He figured this would be a piece of cake, I mean...come on! She was a weak pathetic little girl. What's the worse she could do? Well, there was problems in numbers. The Pokemon attacked, throwing everything they had at him. Slices, venomous powder, bodies flinging and dark potent sludge. The trio managed to put a dent into the creature, who only reacted in a powerful hurricane of leaves. Even attacking the trainer, what's worse is the leaves sliced into her burns! Ouch! The Carnivine tried to boost his ego, by hunching over and shrugging his shoulders up to make his appearance seem larger. It made him appear bigger, but none more threatening in my opinion.

Grimer was breathing heavy, weak and unable to keep a consistency in his breath. He looked at the girl, nodding his head and turned to the Carnivine, knowing he could prove himself if he just could manage to usher the defeat of this Carnivine.

Her companions performed exceptionally, but this was a monster not to be defeated easily.

The flurry of sharp leaves that flew from the Carnivine slashed at all of them — even Alexandra. She was finding herself fearing being attacked by these damn creatures more than anything, as this was twice in a two-day period. Finding the pain beyond excruciating, she slumped to the floor. She could only watch now.

Rayen noticed his partner's plight and narrowed his red eyes at the Carnivine. Not knowing much more to do, he flung himself forward to Body Slam the Carnivine once more, then whipping around the leaf on his head to hit it in another adapted Body Slam. Points for originality. His avian counterpart, Streak, spiraled down to land on the Carnivine's large, flat head. He jabbed several Pecks at it before whipping his wings up and Air Slashing to where it would hurt the Carnivine at point blank as well as launch it into the air once more.

Knowing that the Grimer was the most damaged of the three, Rayen would try to run over to his position as quickly as possible. He wasn't about to let this noble sludge-pool faint just yet.

0.2 (Seems I made an error in my selection of moves for Carnivine, he used a Razor Leaf-Esque moves and he only learns it from Egg Moves...so yeah. This uncatchable creature has an egg move. >_> So...Yeah. Even more salt in the wounds.)

Carnivine whipped his hands forward, powerful and smacking down hard on the bird and sending him down into the ground with an easy swipe of the tentacle vine. The flytrap chuckled into the air, but the price of the injured bird was quickly avenged. The Grimer quickly moving forward, with the Chikorita at his side. Looking to win the friendship of Alexandra, even if it called for the sacrifice of his own life. Shooting a powerful streaming beam of poison and vile venom, shredding the flytraps own body into damnation. Carnivine growled, the creatures buffeted him over and over, leaving a lingering pain in his body. He collapsed forward, unable to battle any longer. The combined efforts earn each Pokemon .5 :exp including Grimer who fought valiantly and delivered the killing blow! He sighed, weak and tired into a puddle of his own gruel. Taillow though temporarily knocked out, hopped back up onto his feet and shuttered his feathers. Not knocked out, and safe! Yay, victory.

Alexandra cried out in surprise as Streak was smacked to the ground without second thought, and stared in shock at the broken figure of the feathered pokémon on the muddy ground. She wanted desperately to run over to him and comfort him, but she knew that she would only run into the line of fire where those who were fighting didn't want her to go. So, gritting her teeth angrily, she watched on as a pathetic spectator.

The team of the Grimer and Rayen was surprisingly effective, and Alexandra watched in suspended animation as the duo selflessly put down the huge monster. Rayen had come out with little injuries, and Streak was just now getting shakily to his feet and preening some of the mud out of his feathers.

Her own companions were just fine, but that valiant pile of sludge was barely holding on.

Alexandra approached, pulling a Potion out of her bag and using it on the Grimer. She could only hope that the soothing mist of healing potion would help him out of his defeated state. She didn't want him to go like this.

(Using one :potion on the Grimer.)

The Grimer was weak, a body filled with contempt for his actions. He was a pre-evolved pile of ooze but he could still feel pain man! He tried to form himself up into a stance, but it proved hopeless. He was too exasperated to even move! But luckily, the lass came around to him and sprayed a lovely, albeit awful smelling scent all over him. It felt good, filling his gooey center with a sensational warmth. He slowly crawled up to a standing position and felt absolutely divine! He looked up at the girl and gave her a big wrapping hug around her legs, knocking her off her balance and causing a Pokeball to fall out of her bag. He looked at it, confused and poked around at it. Blinking several times, he poked the sphere once more in the center and the orb sucked him in. The ball never twitched, moved or fidgeted. Several seconds later, a ping, and you had unintentionally captured a Grimer!

:grimer obtained! +3 :happiness for his undying love for you. Congrats!

She rejected the urge to gag when the overjoyed pile of sludge hugged her — she had to be kind to this thing, it had just tried to save her life from that monster! She wasn't entirely expecting to have it along on her journey, but the sludge pokémon found one of the empty pokéballs on her belt and tapped it, instantly disappearing inside and becoming one of her companions without the least fuss.

Oh, well. Perhaps the Grimer — or should we say, Roxo, as his new nickname implied? — would be useful in the battles to come. Or he might be a total drag. Who knew?

She once more set out in the direction she had originally faced — west. She wanted to get to another city to rest up before heading out once more, but it wasn't entirely needed. Most of her team was still healthy enough to battle, and she still had four potions. She would just go how life took her.

The fog was dense, a coating that blocked all interesting aspects of the journey. The girl continued walking, uninterrupted in her journey. But sadly, that giant rock had something to say! Kicking it with her clumsy foot and tripped over like a drunkard. Collapsing on her face, a pokeball of her own flung off her belt and landed in her face in front of her. The Pokeball exploded open and Grimer was released. The sludge ball looked around and then saw his trainer, rushing to her face and engulfing her entire head in a big hug. Giving a loving gesture with a fit of glee, happy! Aww, he loved her ;_;

Continued from Malral district.

The second she stepped once more into the mists, the second she realized how much she hadn't missed them in the least. The warm sun and the cooling breezes that somewhat soothed the burns on her face were long forgotten out here, where it was wet and cold just to breathe. She took her jacket out from her bag, putting it on and huddling up. The sun was steadily sinking — one of the reasons for the chill in the air.

She knew that none of her pokémon would rightly enjoy coming out of their little capsules, so she bared the journey alone. She steadily trotted through slippery ground and mud northwards. She didn't rightly know where she was going, but she'd get there eventually, she figured.

You walk in the settling darkness. A light fog grows thicker. Nothing approaches, because, ultimately, there is nothing there. Or...? You hear a flapping in the distance. It's a straggling pokemon from a flock, perhaps it was just a little too weak to keep up. You pause or do not, it really does not matter.

The bird flies closer, its flapping growing more ragged, louder. It spots you, before you actually spot it, but that does not mean to say it actually identifies you. Landing on your head, much like it would a branch, the Taillow's claws have a tight hold. You can even hear its labored breath.

What would you do? Swat it away? Or let it have its moment of peace?

It wasn't the strangest thing that had ever happened her, but it was right on up there. Feeling uncomfortable with the exhausted bird resting on her head, she continued to walk for a minute or so before shaking her head a little bit. "Okay, come on," she said in a low, dangerous tone. "I can't have you up there all day. Go on now, scram."

If it didn't leave, well, she'd have to decide if it bothered her enough to remove it by force. Regardless, she continued heading up northward. If this was the most exciting thing to happen to her during this journey, she was prepared to be disappointed. Safe, but disappointed. Alas.

The little Taillow chirped. Why was this little tree speaking? It was only after a while that it realised that what it had perched on was no ordinary tree. In fact, it was...

A MAGICAL TREE!

Well, her mamma often warned her of such trees so she flew away, deeper and deeper into the fog. The fluttering of her wings grew only fainter and fainter as Alex moved northwards.

It was not long before she reached the Mist Valley; and guess what?

The Taillow fluttered off. Thank goodness. She didn't know whether to be totally relieved or offended — the bird must have thought of her as a tree... a walking tree. Stupid bird. Regardless, she pressed on until she got through the thickest part of the fog and into the more misty... Mist Valley. Things seemed quiet and calm here, but only for sight and sound. The smell, however, reminded her quite of how she met up with Roxo...

Yup. Another Grimer. Looking with distaste at the slimy pokémon, she realized that, hey, she wasn't getting any stronger standing around. She called out Roxo and Nils, knowing that Rayen would be weak against the poison type. Well, so were Roxo and Nils, but she had a plan for them.

"Guys, time for a fight. Roxo, take point but try to let Nils have some experience as well." The two agreed, and moved forward to initiate the battle. "Roxo, hit it with a Mud Bomb! Nils, try to Sing it to sleep and then Fury Cutter." Her Grimer grabbed a fistful of the mud off of the ground and hurled it at the opposing Grimer. Nils, on the other hand, struck up a lovely tune and began to sing a sweet lullaby. Regardless of if it worked or not, he rushed in to land the first Fury Cutter in what would probably be a great succession. Alexandra thought that, despite a bug type's disability against poison, Fury Cutter would get strong enough to not mind about such things. That was, however, only speculation.

The Grimer roared again, his slimy mouth stretching open with gusto. A stink came from it; one that coalesced with another. He looked forwards and noticed another Grimer. He gave a giant grin, but before he could make friends, another Pokemon, a Kricketune, started to sing a quiet lullaby.

He roared and suddenly the song stopped. Disable.

The Bomb exploded on contact, and the Fury Cutter hit. But this Grimer dissolved into the ground, becoming far more like a real liquid. Acid Armor helped a lot.

Nils panicked for a second as his song stopped. He tried to start playing it once again, but he couldn't make the music. The Kricketune loved to make music more than battling, so this put a lot of anxiety on the young pokémon. What if his song was gone forever?! "Nils, snap out of it," Alexandra commanded, glaring at him. If he couldn't shape up, he'd be off of the team indefinitely. She wasn't here to sing and dance — this was dangerous training.

Roxo, despite his irritating nature, at least knew how to fight. He watched as one of his sludgy brethren sunk into the ground, configuring its body to be much more resistant to physical attacks. Sadly enough, none of his nor Nils' attacks weren't physical. They'd just have to keep at it.

He slid across the damp floor, swinging a fluid arm at the other Grimer with a swift Pound attack. He then quickly darted back and hurled another Mud Bomb. "Nils, Fury Cutter! Keep cutting until you start getting more damage." Nils, somewhat reassured but still flustered, ran over to the Grimer and started cutting away with those scythe-like arms of his. It might take a while for him to get some real damage, though...

Then, out of no where, the Grimer suddenly fell a sleep. Seems as though your Kricketune's attack was a bit delayed, but it finally took effect. Roxo followed this sudden onset of sleepiness with a fist to his foe, followed by a massive bomb of mud. Nils was the next to attack, his attack seeming to simply bounce off the armored sludge hide of his foe. Guess that Bug attacks don't work so well on Poison types.

The enemy pile of sludge was lulled to sleep — belated, yes, but Alex would take any advantage that this fight threw at her. Now it seemed that things were running along more smoothly, and she was itching to get back to moving right along. "Roxo, one more Mud Bomb. Nils, Tackle. Those Fury Cutters aren't doing anything. Restrain yourselves, though — no use for bloodshed, just knock it out." Lord knows she didn't want to go killing anything a few weeks before Christmas.

The Kricketune buzzed loudly before ramming itself into the dozing body of the hardened sludged, and he quickly dashed out of the way before Roxo hurled (a hopefully final) Mud Bomb onto the sleeping form.

In a flurry of action, the slumbering Grimer was felled, his already limp form failing to change much as he slipped into cold unconsciousness. Both Nils and Roxo celebrated their victory as Nils' ability to make music suddenly returned. Now that his foe was defeated, his song was no longer the effects of that pesky attack known as disable!

Alexandra sighed as the Grimer sunk, defeated, to the muddy grasses. She then allowed a small, smug smile to creep up on her face — one more tick mark on their winning streak. "Great job, you two," she said curtly, but kindly. The two pokémon made victorious motions before being slurped up back into their pokéballs. Unbeknown to Alexandra, both had gained a level up. How fun!

Without another word or look around, she continued, once more, heading north. These damp, muddy lands were beginning to wear on her nerves. She had had well enough of the mud trying to suck her shoes — as well as her along with them — down into their dark depths. The fog was annoying, too — she was now practically drenched because of the condensation in the air. In a word, it was miserable.

So she pressed on northwards.

"Excuse me miss, care to duel?" A suave voice came from behind Alexandra as she walked further into the mist strangled lands.

Were she to turn around, she would see a handsome, sword wielding gentleman looking at her. He was dressed in flashy, yet functional clothes as he slowly made his way closer. Could he mean a real duel, or perhaps a Pokémon battle?

The girl stopped in her tracks and peered around behind her to see who would burst out of the fog and ask for a 'duel' like that. In fact, he did look like someone who would do just that. She had the mind to simply keep walking (or run, perhaps) when she saw the sword hanging innocently by his side, but stood her ground. If he meant a pokémon battle, of course she'd like to. The more experience she got, the better. If he meant with that sword (she didn't see why he would mean it that way — she was unarmed, and he seemed more of a gentlemanly type), she might have to politely decline.

"Of course," she ended up replying, nevertheless. She was about to take one of the pokéballs from her belt and toss it out into the open to start the battle, but perhaps waiting would prove smarter. Perhaps he would call out his first contender so she could maybe get a type advantage. "What are your terms?"

"Well and good young lady, well and good. We shall both use two Pokémon, with both items and switching being allowed." The man smiled and took a bow before returning to his normal stance. "The name is Zaust Fume, and yours is?"

So there he stood, one hand resting on his sword as the other held a Pokéball, politely waiting for your answer. A smile slowly came to his lips as he looked over you, such a cute little thing you were, and this was his chance to impress you.

He put out the terms (Alexandra wasn't too happy with them but she agreed anyway; she always thought that items and switching was a pretty low way to go with a duel) and waited for her introduction. "Alexandra Sohs," she said, smiling slyly as he didn't go as far as to call out his pokémon first. Bastard. Wasn't cutting her an inch of slack, was he?

Oh, well. "Roxo, you first," she said as she tossed out the Grimer's pokéball. In a quick flash of light, the rather disgusting pokémon appeared, smiling at the thought of yet another battle. Alexandra had thought about using Nils in this battle, to see how well he could really fight, but she decided against it. She wasn't totally sure if she was going to continue using Nils anyway. His heart wasn't in fighting. Perhaps she'd find some place where he could sing and dance for a living — he might like that better.

Anyway. "You get the first turn, then."

Zaust looked upon your Grimer with much disdain. Such a vile creature to be the property of a pretty lady like yourself. It didn't make much sense at all.

'You there. You are attractive beyond compare, yet you use such an odd pokemon. Why? I guess it matters not, for I shall show you how to properly display beauty.'

Very agile, Mr. Fume displayed his limberness by twisting and turning, making quite a scene before releasing his first pokemon. It was a simple-looking Meowth. Not very "pretty", but a pokemon all the same.

While Alexandra was pretty much stunned with the guy's words (she had never really been called pretty before, let alone 'attractive beyond compare'), Roxo was completely insulted. Odd? Odd?! Like this slicked-back trainer thought that he had a choice of what he was! Practically frothing (and almost literally, in the Grimer's sense) with anger, he decided he'd direct his anger and jealousy (Roxo was extremely protective of Alex you see, and this bastard was not only insulting him but speaking to her in such a fashion!) on the Meowth that the trainer called out.

"Rox—" Alex began to direct but the Grimer was already sliding into battle with a fistful of Sludge to hurl at the Meowth. I'll take the liberty of saying that his attack would be disrupted by the Meowth's Fake Out and then say that, if he got the chance to attack once more, he would try another Sludge attack at the Meowth.

Alexandra was trying not to say anything. She wasn't sure if she was embarrassed or not, but she felt bad for Roxo. Sure, he wasn't pretty or anything, but he meant well. Plus, he could fight. And she, as a trainer, wanted that more than anything in a companion.

Mr Fume had an original opinion of you. Then, it changed when it saw hwo much you were connected to Grimer... such a vile and horrendous pokemon.

'You, ma'am, are nothing but a pretender. You waste your beauty on this creature, when you could have so much more!'

Parry, as it were, used Fake Out, stopping Grimer in its tracks, causing much pain and flinching and things. While your piles of sludge wa son the ropes, the feline commenced in delivering slash after slash, so fast that you couldn't keep an eye on it. Grimer could.

Despite being pummeled, it managed to form another ball of Sludge in its hand, and toss it into the eyes of Meowth. This successfully halted the felines actions, making its position quite clear. Meowth swung its arms and claws wildly in a blind attempt at a Scratch attack, but such things were fruitless while you are removing gunk from your eyes.

Well, Alexandra had sworn to herself that she wasn't out here to make friends. She was out here to get stronger, win battles, and eventually become one of the best pokémon trainers in the nation. Letting others lose or simply slacking off in battles with anybody was, therefore, against her promise. Sure, she'd end up with a surprising lack of friends, but who needs them? She'd gotten this far without too many.

And that's enough rambling. Back to the battle.

Zaust's words snapped her back to her cool, collected self. No more distractions, here; just ass-kick. The Meowth was pretty much going to town on Roxo with its claws, but the damage wasn't as significant as she feared. If there was one thing she loved about Roxo as a fighter, it was his slimy form. You couldn't land a good hit on it. Regardless, it was time to show that Meowth how a real battler worked. "Poison Gas," Alex called to Roxo, who grinned with devilish pleasure. He sucked in a gasp of air and then exhaled a cloud of venomous gas — intended to envelope the Meowth and poison it. "Now Pound." After the gas cleared (or perhaps before, if Roxo was sure of where the Meowth was), he would throw a solidified slimy fist at the Meowth. Haha.

Grimers gas fileld the already horrid air, nto makign much of a difference in the overall lay of the land. It was still cloudy, still hard to see, and still rather wretched.

Meowth, using its nimbleness, made quick work of dodging the poisonous toxin, and commenced with its own attack. 'Parry, sue your Taunt! This fog is a great cover, so keep using it to slash that wretched creature to nothing!' Zaust bellowed. Normally a humble man, he had begun to get poushed into a state he hadn't visited in quite a while.

Taunt worked, causing Roxo to become quite infuriated at the feline, as it dipped and dodged into the fog, occasionally landing a claw or two on the pile of muck. Pound succeeded to an extent, only slightly ctaching Meowth in a passing motion. It didn't hit hard, but a hit was a hit.

Shit, Alex thought venomously.

She was saving Roxo's newest-learned move, Minimize, for a time like this. She was certain it would help out with him getting away from the nimble Meowth, but the Taunt now made that impossible. Biting her lip as she tried to re-think her strategy, the tides of the battle were quickly turning in the favor of the quicker Meowth. But she wasn't going to lie down yet. It wasn't her style of battling, but she'd have to knock the Meowth out before he could do so to her.

She had to act quick to even get a chance at Roxo beating the Meowth. "Roxo, Sludge, but hold on to it. Think, uh, snowball!" Her rather scrambled logic was to help the opposing trainer not catch on to her strategy. The Grimer did indeed get a handful of sludge and began to roll it up and make it more hard and compact — almost solid — like a snowball. Interesting logic, but where might Alex be going with it. Throwing the sludgeball wouldn't have as much as an effect as she would have liked, so, "Pound it!" Roxo understood and tossed the sludgeball up in the air slightly and then hammered it with a fist. If his aim was right, the hardened and compacted ball of Sludge would hit the Meowth with the force Alex was hoping. Hopefully.

.3, awesome strategy.

Meowth continued to use the fog to its advantage, dipping in and out of it, occasionally landing a claw on the repulsive Grimer. Then again, it occasionally missed, too, thanks to its accuracy being lowered previously.

Meanwhile, Grimer formed a sludgeball, and commenced to toss and punch it. The ball, however, didn't do as planned, and go barrelling towards the nimble feline. Instead, it shattered upon getting hit with Pound, scattering several bits and pieces of sludge around the fog marsh. Luckily, several of them hit the mobile Meowth, taking him out of the battle.

(Grimer gains 1.3 :exp)

Quite the smug grin passed Alexandra's face when the Meowth went down with her strategy. Sure, it didn't work out just as she had planned, but now there were fine, sharp shards of compact sludge that were slowly sinking into the valley floor. Perhaps they would be useful. Too bad she would probably send Rayen out next, and he might get the brunt of stepping on all of them. Ouch.

And she was reduced to gritting her teeth and swearing when she saw who Zaust's second pokémon would be. Poison type. Shit. Rayen wouldn't do so well against a poison type. Well, she'd just have to make due. Roxo was still hanging on in the fight, and seeing the Nidorino charging at him was no doubt unnerving. Still, there was a steely glint in that Grimer's eye. He was still righteously pissed off (he had the right to be) and he wanted to go down with a bang. Alex felt so proud.

"Roxo, get ready for a double Mud Bomb," she said, a little more quietly. Shouting her battle plan across the field, as usual, seemed rather dumb. Roxo was being a little more obvious with his plan, though, sticking his sludgy hands into the ground and emerging with two fistfuls of mud. Mud + poison = yes. "Wait for it," she said, tension seeping in her voice. Roxo waited. "Now." A few seconds before any impact that was coming, Roxo hurled the mud straight at the Nidorino — hoping that his last stand in this fight would be a good one.

Zaust was now smiling as Nidorino barreled towards Grimer like a mighty Tauros. Roxo balled up the mud from the ground, but it was useless, as Nidorino rammed the pile of grime with tis horn, effectively knocking it out. It would seem that Grimer hadn't been quick enough.

'Ha! Now this field of battle can return to its once wonderous feel and aroma.' Flaunted Mr. Fume. His Nidorino was standing there, kicking up mud with its hind feet, ready for its next victim.

Alex's breath caught in her throat when Roxo was knocked out before he could get to his attack — there went her plan of weakening the poison-type Nidorino before she sent Rayen out there. Now it would be really tough, and not to mention how the Nidorino was stronger for defeating Roxo. She wondered briefly if it was even worth sending her friend out to fight, but she was sure Rayen would argue and pitch a fit if she didn't. So, in one deft movement, Alexandra called back Roxo and tossed Rayen's pokéball to the field. "Rayen."

The Bayleef appeared in a flash of red light, looking confident. In both type and level they were now the underdogs, which gave Alex all the more reason to fight for the win. She briefly ran through Rayen's attacks, grimacing. Razor Leaf won't be as effective. Poisonpowder doesn't work against it. Light Screen would only help with Special moves. Shit. "You better be ready for a fight, Rayen—" the Bayleef stiffened and nodded, "—Body Slam, now."

Alex went against her normal self and sent Rayen barreling forward at the Nidorino just a few seconds after she had been released. Surprise for her character, but perhaps not for this battle. How might a Nidorino be a bit more intimidated, if it wasn't just a mid-sized plant-dinosaur running at it? Hmm. "Razor Leaf while you're running," she called to Rayen, not totally sure about the plan but hoping for the best.

The Bayleef swung the sharp leaf on her head, producing several sharp shards. Said leaf fragments flew at the Nidorino faster than Rayen could ever run — if it timed out right, the lesser damage of the Razor Leaf would perhaps stun the Nidorino until the pony-sized dinosaur hit it. Hopefully. Alex crossed her fingers.

Zaust giggled to himself upon seeing your choice for your next combatant. He knew typ advantages and disadvantages, and he also knew that, pound for pound, Nidorino was simply more powerful than Bayleef. This would be an uphill battle indeed.

'Tic, show her the folly of her knowledge! Use Leer while that thing charges, stand your ground, and use your Poison Stab when it gets in close. Use its speed against it!'

Mr. Fume obviously planned to win this fight with brute force. He believed his Nidorino could withstand the charge of Bayleef, and forceably halt its advance with its spike pertruding from its head.

Bayleef charged, sending tuny razor-sharp leaves in first. The attack didn't seem to deter the Nidorino, as they bounced off of its prickly hide. Still, Rayen remained confident in its ability to simply bowl over the muscle-bound poison type. Tic-Toc glared at Bayleef, preparing to brace itself for the coming tank engine.

Then...

The two collided. Bayleef successfully executed its Body Slam, but at a serious price. While it ran in, Nidorino had managed to use Poison Jab as Zaust had instructed, and was now suffering from the tiny particles of poison coursing through its veins. Now, it was only a matter of time before Rayen succumbed to the illness, meaning that Zaust and his Nidorino could be completely defensive and win the fight.

Now it was quite obvious that Alexandra using brute force against Zaust's Nidorino was not going to win her this fight. Rayen was now heavily damaged and poisoned — which was almost enough to make her want to call the match anyway, but there was a determined glint in Rayen's eyes. She knew that her faithful partner wasn't one to throw in the towel, no matter what, and neither was Alex. They'd fought more dangerous battles than this.

With the wheels turning much more quickly in Alex's head and a sheer force of determination flowing between she and her companion, she began to devise a better strategy. Rayen was fully capable of using Synthesis to keep his HP up, but the sun was weakened by the fog so that wasn't very reliable. But the Nidorino was very reliant on physical attacks — it would have to charge if it wanted to make any contact on Rayen. It would probably do so just to attack, but... Alex wanted her opponent to be a little more belligerent when they were attacking.

"Rayen and I have gone against far worse match-ups than this and pulled through. What makes you think that you can win this?" she smiled devilishly, lacing her words with contempt. "Gods favor the underdog, you know." To accompany Alex's taunting, Rayen pulled through her sickened state and growled tauntingly at the Nidorino. Rayen also backed up, making it to where the Nidorino would have to move to attack.

And hey. Zaust couldn't wait this fight out, because as long as the poison ran, Rayen could just replace the energy with that from the sun. Ouch.

"Rayen," Alex said in a whispered undertone. The Bayleef turned his head slightly to listen closely, but kept a careful eye on the Nidorino. "If it charges with any type of attack, you need to shoot your Razor Leaf at its feet." The Nidorino might be a spiked tank on its back, but its feet and stomach were less likely to be armored. "We can only hope it'll distract or trip it up or something. If so, then go in for a Body Slam. Make it a good one, too. This might be our only shot. If it doesn't budge, use Synthesis and try to combat the Poison."

Rayen tensed — he wanted to win this as badly as Alex did. It all depended on how Zaust and his Nidorino would respond.

'Taunting a man in charge of a battle isn't a very smart thing to do!' Zaust yelled from across the mist. 'But I'll play along. I am eager to see what you have planned!'

It was obvious that Mr. Fume no longer took this battle seriously. He had Baylle fon the ropes, poisoned, and with the surroundings, it would be difficult for your grass type to gain an advantage.

'Go Tic!' Within seconds, Nidorino was charging towards your inflicted Bayleef. It resembled a bull, the way its eyes squinted, narrowing in on its target.

This was the chance your Bayleef was waiting for. It released its barrage of leaves, aimed for the feet. The attack didn't do much of anything at first, other than simply bouncing off of the poison type. They finally took their toll, however, as the pure number of them caused Nidorino to get tripped up in its own feet. The poison type did a face-plant, and slid in the mud until coming to an abrupt stop.

Now, it was time for Bayleef to charge, as it ran to Nidorino in an effort to attack it while it was down.

'Tic! Stick your head out!' Zaust barked. The embarassed poison type did just that... raising its head so its massive horn stuck out like an icicle. Rayen was now in the middle of her Body Slam, attacking from the front. The two eventually collided once again, with almost the same result as before.

Rayen was laid out on the ground, struggling to keep awake as the poison coursed through its body. Nidorino stood strong, gasping for air, obviously exhausted as its body swayed from side to side.

'I believe me and Tic-Toc have won this little sparring session, miss.'

And, when the dust cleared, Alexandra's hopes and hot air left her in one sigh. That was just about it — she had lost. And if the disappointment and slight embarrassment of losing to a partially judgmental jerk wasn't bad enough, she was now pretty much stranded in the middle of Murmur Valley with no one but Nils to protect her. Feeling the gravity of this "fun battling excursion" settling on her shoulders, she could do nothing more than walk over to the collapsed Bayleef, stroke the smooth, light green skin on his forehead and then recall him to his pokéball.

"Yeah," she said, somewhat begrudgingly, to his final exclamation. If only I had made it to the northern sand lands and caught a Ground type, I could have pummeled this guy. It would have been so easy to wipe the floor with him; I know it. And if I had put Rayen out first and then Roxo out second, maybe this could have— an endless loop of "ifs" and "buts" played around in her head. She struggled to reach her memory through them and, when failing, she looked over to Zaust. "We didn't wager anything, right?"

Boy, she hoped not. She was near flat broke.

"That was... fun," she continued, trying her hardest to play the good sport. She wasn't doing a good job. Alex had never been able to be a good sport. "But I do really need to get moving."

Mr Fume looked on as you consoled the fallen Bayleef. 'That is a gorgeous pokemon. It suits you more than that grotesque creature you used earlier.' He was still cocky, even afttr the battle was over and done with.

'As for a wager, you are free to go. Seeing someone as gorgeous of yourself in battle was prize enough.' He placed a hand on his, up til now irrelevant sword, and smirked in your general direction, heading south through the fog.

And just like that, he was gone, just as quick as he had arrived.

She didn't reply. She didn't feel as though she had the need to.

After the other trainer left, she looked more critically at the slate-gray Pokétch her Pokénav had turned in to when she arrived here in Opaddeka and began to cycle through the functions. She wasn't sure if it had a map on it, but it should — her Pokénav had one, at least. Finally she got a very rough map of the region, and she scrutinized the tiny pixels for another city. A-ha! Found one, and it looked big. Brightopolis, due northwest from where she was. That sounded like a good place to go to.

Checking her position and the bleary sun, she then managed to figure out where northwest was and started to make a beeline through the Murmur Valley toward it. She was no longer interested in any of the trivial things of a trainer's life — she simply wanted to get to the city so she could heal her team. After checking the map once more and her position, it seemed like a pretty good haul. Sighing, she began to run, instead of walk, to her destination. It was tough through the marshy floor of the Valley, but she was sure she could manage. Alex didn't care about things like mud on her shoes.

Location: Mist Valley
Destination: Brightopolis
Route: Mist Valley — Sinklands 1 — Soggy Dirt

NOTE: She's basically running as fast as she can to get to Brightopolis as soon as possible. I'd enjoy it greatly if I could get there soon, seeing as though I've been chillin' in Murmur Valley for a while now.

You rna and ran, and ran some more. The mist eas lifting, causing your vision to come back to the status of being able to se eonce again.

Then.

You fell.

The ground sunk out form under you, causing you to stumble and do a face-plant in the mud. Mud on your shoes is one thign, but on your face is another. While pulling yourself up, you spotted a Surskit, skimming along merrily, minding its business. How nice.

Well, running as haphazardly as she had been, it wasn't too surprising that she would eventually fall. She wasn't very happy at all about it, but she didn't mind too much. She was rather irked that one of the few changes of clothes she had was now covered with mud and slime (notice she didn't mind too much about her face; it would wash easier than her clothes). Maybe she could work around this Brightopolis and get some money to buy some new clothes. Oh, well. Best not dwell around here.

Pulling herself up from off the ground, she spat out some of the mud that had, unfortunate, found its way into her mouth and started once more on her way. The Surskit slid by across the mud, minding its own business as Alex minded hers. They had no quarrel.

All she wanted to do was get to this Brightopolis place.

Now this was quite rude. How dare that humanoid just simply walk on and not even bother to acknowledge his presence! It was not often that this particular Surskit took the time to grace the other beings of the world with its incredible presence... too much of a good thing was hard to take for some of those simpler-minded ones. His face puffed up and he danced forward, twisting right into Alex's path and stomping down his legs through the mud in an angry manner.

He would NOT be ignored and simply thrown out of the path. This human WOULD take notice of him, and if it came to worse, then he would simply have to show the human's Pokemon what's what. Not only was he THE MOST graceful dancer in the natural world, but he was OF COURSE simply the best scrapper and battler there was. So perfect in every manner... gosh, did he just love himself. The fact was that there was NO ONE BETTER out there.

She had the right to be pissed off, right? Here she was, trying to get to Brightopolis as fast as possible because certain pokémon might think it fun to munch on a poor, helpless little human girl for dinner. She had been making great progress before this dumb bug had gotten in her way. Skidding to a halt and sending up mud on both sides of her, she looked despairingly at the Surskit. "Sorry, alright?" she pleaded, just wanting to keep moving. "I don't have time to chat or play or battle or whatever the hell you want. Sorry."

The thing was barely a foot tall; how was it supposed to keep her down? Despite the fact that, as certainly as I typed that, the Surskit would try to stop her from going on, Alexandra tried her hardest to trudge on. If it came to the worst, she would simply call out Nils and have him put the Surskit to sleep so they could get going once more. That would be her back-up plan, but for now she'd rather not go through the hassle.

Surskit was a mean-lookign bug. Normally they are ncie and jovial and timid and things of the sort. Not this one. For some reason, this one wasn't in the mood for fn and games. It wanted blood and guts instead.

When you walked past it, it simply scooted along the top of the ground, positioning itself in your path again. It growled lowly, singalling that it wasn't about to let you just waltz on by without paying the toll.

But... what was keeping you from walking still, letting the bug block you way, and you simply step over it. I am sure it would eventually get the point... right?

What was wrong with this stupid bug?

Alexandra glowered dangerously at it as it continued to follow her. The bug had now progressed to growling at her (she didn't know bugs could growl, but there it was, growling) and she was tempted to be totally immature and growl back. She was trying her best to convey the "either you turn around and skit the other way or you'll wake up next week with a muddy shoeprint on your face" with her facial expression, but it wasn't working out too well. The Surskit just kept following.

She wasn't quite to the point of brining out Nils to put it to sleep, though, so she kept going on. One good thing in this mess of negative ones was the fact that, not too far out in the distance, she could see Brightopolis. It loomed over the damp dirt of the Valley, and with its silver building shimmering with the heat haze of the surrounding desert, it looked promising. Alex sighed and renewed her conviction, continuing on without another glance to the Surskit. She was going to get there soon, she would make sure of it!

Before long, despite the annoying insect following you, you reached the thriving metropolis know as Brightopolis. The lights were bright, and the streets were glean, and a Police Officer on nearly every corner. Welcome to perhaps the safest city in all Opaddeka. As for the Surskit, it had turned back when you entered the city.

Congrats, you have reached the city!

Wow. This was one place she would rather not travel through again.

Feeling the smothering feeling of the moist air settling over her again, she immediately remembered her hate towards Murmur Valley. It reminded her too much of her encounter with Michael, that insane pokémon trainer who had given her the scarring burns on her face months prior. She frowned and sub-consciously touched the scars on her face, hating the trainer more than these lands.

One day, he shall pay, she thought venomously, before continuing on.

She shrugged on her over-sized dark sweatshirt. Though it was pretty warm, she would rather keep the humidity of the air from her skin. Karst, the Houndour who was traveling with her, didn't have such a luxury. She was now growling at the landscape of the area, and spitting random fireballs in annoyance. "Settle down, Karst," Alexandra warned, and the dog's vexation settled. Somewhat. "We'll try to get through this place as quick as possible, alright?" Karst barked an affirmative.

So they continued through the muddy valley, heading south towards more agreeable lands.

Location: Soggy Dirt
Destination: Grassland 1, Hillmoss Grasslands
Route: Soggy Dirt — Sinklands 1 — Mist Valley — Unclearable Fog Marsh 1 — Grasslands 1

Note: I will be training Karst, who is Level 14. If any enemies encountered could be around that level, that would be great. (:

Dirt squished under your feet as you walked. It only got louder as you walked further. You could see mist/fog/whatever you wanna call it forming up ahead as well. Apparently the place hadn't changed much from your previous visit.

A sudden bump from behind you caused you to jump out of shock a bit. It was a man, and he seemed to be in a hury. 'S-s-sorry lady...' He stuttered before he continued on his speed-walking through the dirt. When he suddenly fell on his face, it was a bit funny.

During his fall, however, a red object flew from his hand and landed in the mud. It looked like a pokedex... and if you bothered to check your items, you would find that it was your pokedex. Thankfully the sinklands had arrived when they did, or he may have gotten away.

As it stood now, however, he was wiping the mud off of his face rather than to be concerned by you catching him in his theft.

She hadn't really seen many other people out on travels before, so this was a pretty rude awakening. Emphasis on rude, that is. "Hey, watch it," she muttered vehemently, though the man was probably too far away to hear her. He stammered an apology, moseying away as quickly as he could. He looks... she thought, as Karst began to growl, Suspicious.

Normally these instincts of hers were right.

The man tripped. Alexandra had the instinct to laugh once or twice to herself (sleep deprivation made everything funnier) before she noticed a red device lying in the mud next to the man. "Hey—" she started, before patting her pockets and rifling through her bag for her own pokédex. It wasn't there. "Hey!" she said, now angry. "Karst, get that back!" The hound, obviously happy to get involved with something that might lead to violence, dashed forward through the mud and attempted to retrieve her master's device. Of course, a look in her eye tempted the would-be thief to try and stand up for his failed attempt.

The small charcoal-like hound scampered through the mud, fetching the pokedex with little hiccups. The fellow thta had stolen it had been preoccupied with removing the gunk from his face so he could mount another attempt.

He stood, placing a hand on a pokeball at his waist. He quickly released the contents... a hovering poison pokemon commonly known as Koffing. 'S-s-sorry miss... but If I d-don't have that p-p-pokedex, I'll b-be fired...'

He was obviously nervous. It would seem that it would be the deciding factor in this battle, especially since that Koffing is pretty powerful-looking.

"Like I care," Alex hissed, her eyes glancing back to Karst as she rushed back. She took the device gingerly from the dog's mouth, pressing a few buttons to see if it still worked after it's dip in the mud. It whirred and blinked — it seemed to work fine. The girl breathed a sigh of relief.

She turned her attention to the Koffing that the thief had sent out. Seeing how powerful it was, it could run circles around Karst alone. Looks like Alexandra would have to double-team this guy. Not that she cared. She didn't hold chivalry for stupid thieves such as him. "Have it your way," she said, tossing Ismaire's pokéball into the ring. The Cubone emerged in a flash of bright light, glaring at the Koffing. Alexandra grinned dangerously. This guy had brought this upon himself.

"Go on," the girl said, handing the reins to the pokémon themselves.

Karst let out a harsh howl and rushed forward. Trails of smoke began to leak around her muzzle, and she soon leaped up into the air. She was a powerful jumper, and sailed at the Koffing. If she got a connecting blow, her mouth would explode into flames when she bit down. Ouch. Ismaire, on the other hand, hung back. She focused all of her energies on the battle, waited until Karst was out of the way, and ran under the Koffing. She would then launch herself in a full-body Headbutt on the creature. Double ouch.

"H-hey! Th-th-that's hardly f-f-f-fair!" shouted the thief indignantly, oblivious to his own wrongdoings.

The Koffing, by comparison, seemed all the more thrilled. It seemed to wait for Karst to come, and she did. The dog leapt up, calling madly, then chomped down hard. Only it was kind of difficult to find good purchase on the spherical, rather hard bodied floating thing. Her fangs, flaming, slid off the koffing's curve and she dropped to the floor. Dark burn marks were on the pimply, purple surface but the toxic balled just seemed to ignore it.

Its attention was more focused on the cubone now, and with a horrible wretching sound it threw up all over the little skull. Twitching patiently, Ismaire tried closing her eyes to concentrate ... the sticky sludge poured over... she snapped, punching off the ground and smacking that hard head into the koffing's underside. That rocked it, causing the gassy thing to belch with surprise. "Enough f-f-f-fighting!" squealed the teen, no longer interested in her pokedex. "S-smogscreen! Let's get the h-h-h-h-hell out of here!"

Karst yowled at the Rocket, angry at his cowardice. She seemed just about ready to charge into the Smokescreen after them if it weren't for Alexandra commanding, "Stay where you are, Karst. Let them go." The hell hound growled and yipped and barked, but stood where she was. Alexandra crossed her arms. This little dog was going to be troublesome, with all its warmongering. Still, she was a powerful little devil...

Ismaire, on the other hand, stood with her back to her trainer, trying to get as much of the Koffing's gunk from her helmet as she could. "Looks like you're done here, Ismaire. Return." The Cubone nodded before being slurped up into her capsule for a longer stasis.

"Now come on, Karst. No use crying over spilled milk." The pokémon didn't understand the phrase, so she continued to gently whine over the lost battle. Silly thing. Alexandra ignored her, continuing on the route they had been traveling before getting side-tracked by the would-be thief.

Walking through this dir was quite uncomfortable. It felt like you were waltzing through poop. Yes, poop. Fortunately you weren't, because that would be really gross. Really really gross.

Travel wa smade slow thnaks to Karst, the inquisitive Houndour. She stopped every few seconds to take a sniff od the surroundings and such. She wandered to a pile of leaves pertruding from the moist dirt and began to sniff sniff sniff. The greenery shook violently before raising from the ground. Those leaves were attached to an Oddish.

The grass pokemon glared at the mutt and began to shout its name in all sorts of ways. The weed was obviously angry at something or other... probably over being snifed in such a rude fashion.

If Alexandra hadn't heard the assorted growls and random yips of "Oddish! Oooddish!", she wouldn't have stopped walking. As it was, she turned around to see what the big commotion was.

Karst was looking very dubiously at a small Oddish, which seemed to be ranting at her in its own unique tongue. Karst was not impressed by it, either. She stared and glared at the small plant for several moments before she became fed up with its incessant ramblings. She howled violently and then clamped down on one of the Oddish's leaves, smoke and flames escaping around her closed mouth afterwards. Ouch.

This must be a very rude day for that Oddish.

Alexandra, on the other hand, found it to make no sense to stop her little hell hound. If Karst wanted to get herself into trouble... well, Alex hoped she'd get bopped over the head once or twice before it was all over. This little dog would have to learn some self-control when it came to fighting.

Karst was doing what any normal young pup would do. Fight. And pick fights with things that it shouldn't pick fights with. This Oddish, although having a weakness to Houndour type, was experienced beyond Kasts' years.

So, when the hellhound clamped its jaws around the plants leaves, it was no surprise that Houndour would end up worse for ware. With its maw wrapped aruodn the head of Oddish, it was quite vulnerable to the poison types spore attacks.

A mixture of sleep powder and poison powder filled the fire types mouth, causing it to stumble backwards and shake its head violently, trying to shake out the effects of the attacks. It was unsuccessful, however, and fell to the mud, its life slowly being sucked away.

Plant pokémon and their damnable status-altering attacks...

Karst's ferocity had landed her in quite a pickle this time. Asleep and poisoned... with the likelihood of fainting before even waking up. Well, Alexandra could change it to where that wouldn't happen. Rifling through her bag, she pulled out one of the Antidotes she had purchased so long ago (thinking she wouldn't need it any longer, haha) and released the healing mist on the ailing Houndour.

With that out of the way, "Karst. Listen to me; you can pull yourself out of this. You got yourself in it, you get yourself out of it." She was hoping that her condoling would bring the fire-breathing pup out of its forced slumber. If not, she was looking at some nasty bumps on the head to wake up to, courtesy of a pissed-off radish. "If you can wake up, give it a Leer and hit it with Ember. It's all you need to finish it off."

(Used 1 :antidote on Karst.)

Also know that I'll do the same thing every turn until the Houndour wakes up, so... make as many turns pass as you need.

With a sleeping hound, there wasn't much to do except to sit back and wait for her to wake up. While you waited there, Oddish took the liberty spewing loads upon loads of poisonous stuff at your pup. It was Acid. And it was some pretty filthy stuff.

After about three of shots, the mutt woke up and felt a bit woozy. It had no troubles releasing the Ember attack, causing the Oddish to dance around the fires on the ground before finally being consumed by them.

Then it died.

Karst wobbled around on shaky legs as she recovered from the encounter with the grass pokémon. Though she had the upper hand with her fire power, they still had to be bastards and spray eleven types of disgusting stuff at her. Growling and walking away from the burning corpse of the plant, she returned loyally to her master's side.

"Nice job, Karst," Alexandra said kindly, rubbing the hound behind the ears. She then drew out a Potion from her bag, sprayed it on the fire-type (which probably gave it all of its HP back). Yes, because encouraging horrendous violence with ear-scratches and Potions is definitely the right thing to do. Alexandra stood once more and, with a last nod to her companion, set off once more southwards.

To go on a tangent, Alexandra realized while walking through the field of mud and muck that she desperately needed new clothes. Her own were stained by mud (from her last encounter here) and plastered by sands from the desert. Too bad she was spending all her money on items for the journey, though. No one ever said being a trainer was all about the glamor.

After decimating the little grass pokemon Alex and her pokemon ventured through the soggy dirt. Nothing really popped up to greet them on their travels so after some time they came upon what was commonly called the Sinklands.

Determined to press forward Alexandra forced her body through the Sinklands till they reached dry ground once again. She was making quite good progress, that was until she was greeted by a strange pokemon. Dopey eyes looked up at her as she made her way through the valley.

"Doof!"

The creature yelled at Alex before tackling her then excitedly jumped on her stomach.

After traveling for a long time, one looses track of it. Alexandra soon knew nothing but the horizon and her destination — the constant danger of enemies around as well as sinking up to her knees in mud and swampland was but a incessant buzzing in her ear. Throughout walking in the Sinklands, Alex carried Karst; the fact that the dog could be swallowed up and never seen again by one of the muddy sinkholes was all but a false fact. After what seemed like an age, they finally reached Mist Valley: dry land. It seems that their adventure in the Murmur Valley was, once more, coming to a close.

Thank God.

Alex allowed Karst to jump from her arms, and they both took a brief rest. They were just about to continue moving on when a small, brownish pokémon hobbled into view. "'Doof!" it squeaked, looking curiously at the two. The two stared right back. This lasted for a second before the Bidoof jumped right into Alex's arms. Exasperated, the trainer put down her arms and tried to drop the Bidoof. "Hey, we've got a place to go. So excuse us."

She then tried to leave the Bidoof behind and, with Karst growling at the rodent all the way, continue on their journey.

Poor Bidoof with his big white eyes, he watched as Alex made her way past him and through the fog once more. A tear formed in his eye, he just wanted someone to play with.

Anyway the trainer continued to venture through the fog, eventually reaching a point in her journey when she struggled to see 2 feet in front of her face. Perhaps by sheer luck she managed to stumble upon the Grasslands and her next destination.

Reached Grasslands 1.
