Goals:

1. Learn to leave out what is unimportant
2. To change my character a little
3. To write in different POVs, not only first person
4. To try weave an interesting story

Prizes I aim for
1. For the Experience Points and the Happiness
2. To evolve Togetic; she turns into a Togekiss in the story, but if that is rejected, I can always write an alternative ending

Note: I have started writing this freeform from a long time ago. It was about October; so I started it in the midst of winter. I ended it now, which is in the midst of summer. However, since there is not fixed weather plan for Opaddeka now, I hope the grader would understand that the weather starts off in the end of winter and ends in the start of spring.

Thank you.

Pokrus the virus that grants the Pokmon a heightened ability to train and become stronger. What price, though, does this ability come for?

---

No mistake; Ryan met his toughest opponent. The cold unrelenting girl opposite of him had her fingers wrapped around her last Pokball. He smiled. Aquaris managed to defeat her Kirlia easily. Her Blaziken was a force to reckon with though. It finished off two of his Pokmon before it fell. This girl must be the type of trainer who trained mostly one Pokmon, leaving the rest more vulnerable. Dumb ass. Aquaris stood strong, his large cannons stood erect from his shell, confident. The girl gave a sudden smile though, and quickly called out Togetic, a Pokmon Ryan was not familiar with. It was engulfed in a pure white aura stained by the reddish glow of the Pokballs beam. It scaled the air. Ryan shrugged.

He pointed; the Blastoise got into action as the rain fell from the sky. It was funny how the large lumbering turtle leaping from side to side in mock ballet fashion could bring rainfall. The gods must love how he danced. With the weather at his side, Aquaris would never have any problem with the puny Pokmon not matter how swiftly it swooped about. The Blastoise raised his arms with real determination, preparing. Taking in a deep breath, he pushed with all his might, two forceful jets of water exploded from his cannons, creating a shrill cry as they traveled through the air with gusto. The Togetic though weaved through the columns of water, the cool pattering of rain refreshing its senses. Ryan groaned.

Togetics lingering glow now shot into the dark stormy sky, a white beam. The little creature gave a sudden look of weariness and Ryan was glad to see it. Weakling. It yawned, which made Ryan laugh with ferocity. The Blastoise immediately prepared himself with a more accurate attack. Water Pulse should do it; the reverberation of the water droplets that now fell from the sky would send the Togetics mind into fragments. Smirking proudly, Ryan watched the waves sent into the air. Aquaris knew what to do.

The Togetic got the full pain of the attack, but almost immediately, the water turtles eyes grew heavy and he collapsed under a spell of sleep, the rumbling snores emitting with every breath. Ryan swore under his breath; who knew that innocent Yawn was a crafty attack? He had never seen a Yawn attack done so naturally. The Togetic now regained all its energy, as a shooting star streaked the sky. Ryan cracked his knuckles and yelled; the Blastoise still wouldn't get up.

But that was why he had a backup plan. Ryan shouted out the attack he taught his Pokmon in case anything like this happened: Sleep Talk. The earth started rumbling. The Earthquake attack was performed. The Blastoise stretched within his sleep, eyes closed in deep slumber. The storm clouds parted and leaves shot into the unprotected skin of the Blastoise. Ryan commanded, Withdraw! but still, the Pokmon was asleep. The leaves cut hard. His sleep was halted, but the same type of unconsciousness befell the water Pokmon. He fainted.

Ryan stood, his mind reeling in from the shock. Aquaris lost his first battle. He lost to two weak Pokmon: a Kirlia and a Togetic. The turtle lay on the ground, silent. Ryan picked up a Pokball and recalled his partner. He was down to his last one. He sighed and knew that even though he didnt want to battle, he had to finish up. They agreed to a four on four battle and she still had one battler left. He flung the Pokball, and the red light blasted down to the wet ground, revealing a Shiftry.

Relias glowing eyes focused on the Togetic, who only smiled with glee. The long nose stuck out from the stained white fur that surrounded his head. Relias was ready; he felt more than better.

Almost immediately, he glowed and the powerful psychic energy strangely inhabiting the dark Pokmon was released, attacking the Togetic from within. Extrasensory. The Togetic rushed down and gave him a bite, almost trying to release its own pain by doing that. Ryan only looked on worriedly; Relias was not at his best that day. Despite of that, Relias managed to grow in size, his skin shining with a powerful Harden. After that, the Extrasensory attack continued to tear the Togetic.

The girl watched on, and her fingers gripped her skirt hard; she was contemplating switching to her last Pokmon. Ryan hoped she would; it would save both of them a lot of trouble. Still, determination filled the Togetics eyes and he knew it would take more than throwing Extrasensory attacks to get it to give up. Quietly, he whispered, Relias, you can do it

Relias couldnt hear it for the sudden appearance of flames shocked him. The bite only ensured how the Fire Blast would never miss and now as he tried to escape, his moving arms only fanned the flames. The fire grew. Ryan only was appalled by what was happening, and quickly surrendered, his eyes watching as the smoke enveloped both the Pokmon. Relias couldnt help but to cough madly, violently. The red light was a savior to him; it wrapped him up and sent him to the safe depths of the Pokball.

The fire blazed on before the stormy sky began to rain again. The only thing left was a charred patch of land. Slowly, he made his way across the arena as the girl walked towards him as well. Stretching out a hand, he smiled and said, Good battle. She nodded silently, giving a friendly smile as well. The taste of losing was bitter but Ryan knew it was a good experience. There were still people better than him at this moment. Bidding the girl goodbye, he moved towards the Pokecentre to check if Relias was still sick.

Good job!

I praised all my companions who had battled against the boy earlier. They did really well, especially Jayde. It was good training. Zrais head though faced the ground as I praised all of them. Her scathing voice broke through the happy laughter: Dont lie. I know how I fared. The atmosphere suddenly broke out silent; the icy words struck all of us. We looked at Zrai. She changed and its my fault.

You did well

Zrai shirked away from me, eyes looking away. Her telepathy moved into my mind so slowly, like a snake pouncing out of nowhere. Her weak legs, already healed, floated above the ground. Their emanciated look reminded me of the awful accident that I caused. Her teleportation into rock and the choice to end the pain by recalling her caused her legs to be ripped off, absorbed in the stone, her flesh fusing into one with it. They only healed because of the movement in dimension.

<I know thats what you think. What I think is something completely different.>

This change of personality wasnt sudden though. I remembered as we slept in the wild as we traversed nearer to the town, she began to leave our camp, alone. When I went to look for her, I rarely succeeded. When I did find her, she was off training by herself. She cried as I hugged her. She told me her fears, about how weak she was. She told me how she couldnt defend me and as my guardian, she should be able to. She told me what a failure she was. She told me how locked her mind was; that her full psychic powers could not be sent out. And then, that happened.

What could I say? What could I have said? Nothing.

It was like this. Maybe I should have calmed her down, or maybe I should have comforted her. Saying anything then meant nothing to her. I apologized though. She knew what I was thinking and so she knew I was sincere. Then her psychic probes started to enter my head most of the time. She withdrew herself slowly, her personality becoming colder. This shell should protect her, really, but it didnt. I knew it hurt her, like worms eating an apple right from its core. I was afraid shed lose herself, just like how I almost lost myself.

We were really so near, just less than a meter apart. However, I knew that she was much further away than that. This all began during the tournament, when she battled Jemilies Haunter and was crushed quickly. I still remembered, her lithe slender figure collapsed and suddenly, she looked so weak and fragile. Her will was broken at that very moment and she still didnt have it. I didnt dare use her for the next round.

That same battle brought much confidence to Jayde, who managed to survive throughout the whole battle, something both Azura and Zrai could not. Maybe it was because the opponent Jemilie didnt take her as a big threat, but in the end, she was the one who defeated the Aggron. Azura and Jayde were proud of themselves in the battle, but Zrai was devastated. She saw nothing of her own power being displayed in the battle. She thought herself merely as a distraction.

Zrai just looked away, her head still bowed down, her mouth still down-turned. The Nurse suddenly called me over and I nodded to her. However, the next piece of information she told me was not pleasant: it seemed like Jayde had caught something bad from the battle earlier. She was down with an illness: Pokrus. Still, Nurse Joy reassured me that it wouldnt affect Jayde too much and she was still able to battle. There were even rumors that it improves the results of training, so I shouldnt be too upset.

Hearing Jayde cough so violently made my heart hurt. Never had I heard of a Pokmon having a disease that was simply beneficial. To me, there was no such thing. A disease was a disease, nothing more. Jayde looked up at me, her eyes blurred and dull. She obviously had difficulty breathing; similar to the asthmatic attacks I had as a child. The Nurse calmly smiled, as a Chansey behind sang soothing notes, slowly calming down poor Jayde. Her breathing deepened, then slowed down, before looking at me once again, her thin voice squeaking, Am I gonna die? Smiling weakly, I knew Pokrus was not fatal, but could not help not shaking the thought of death from my mind. I shook my head. Giving a relieved sigh, she smiled and fluttered to my side.

Lets go then.

Zrai nodded her head towards automatic door, impatient to leave for some training. As I grasped Jayde into my arms and followed behind Zrai, Zrai spun and gave me a long hard stare into my eyes, the red quickly enveloping me. They were so consumed by something I recognized but didnt remember any longer. She said, Hurry, and her thin frame whished out of the Pokecenter.

Was it jealousy?

Jayde coughed sadly within my arms and I stood stunned.

What happened to my dear Zrai?

Flashes of her when she was a Ralts crossed my mind quickly. Her helping me out in making my first magical potion. Her standing over me, as I lay on the floor unconscious. Her laughing shyly every time I praised her. Her calm presence that managed to make me see reality. She had been my rock but what was she now? How was I supposed to react?

Silence reigned. Zrai was there, still waiting. And then, when she caught my eye again, she disappeared, leaving only a shadow of a glow. Shocked, my heart seemed to stop and I started to cough, quickly and unstoppably. My head hurt, the sting stretching wider within, and my chest felt like exploding.

The red blood contrasted against the cold ivory snow.

Doctor?

Dr. Pegasus sat at her desk, fingers on her temples. It had been a rough day. Two people were down with pneumonia that day and they were at her hospital, resting. One of them was seventy-two years old, so there were many complications. Soon, if things didnt improve, Mrs. Mauder was going to end up in the IU. Shooting an irritated stare at the nurse, she grunted unpleasantly and got up from her seat when the nurse told her that there was someone sent in, probably fainted from the cold. The young nurse wasnt too sure about the details though; someone just asked her to look for Dr. Pegasus. Dr. Pegasus knew though any old fainting from the cold didnt require the Head doctor there. She had been busy working on other projects and was too busy to deal with ordinary cases.

Doctors here, especially the Heads, were all caught up in their own scientific studies, hence explaining the laboratory in the basement. Her research recently in the Pokrus phenomenon had revealed that when battling with this illness, Pokmon actually improved vastly in the areas that they trained in. For example, the Machop they kept in the laboratory that was afflicted with Pokrus had its arm muscles increase dramatically when training on Larvitar. It was also known that Pokrus was deadly infectious, spreading to almost any Pokmon the infected frequent with, although sometimes it might be caught almost immediately. Snapping a white mask around her face, she walked along the corridor. The lights were dimmed; she realized it was already close to nighttime. Her mask made her cheeks hot and flushed. She didnt feel comfortable and wished for sleep. Still though, once this study was finished, she would be famous and her parents would love her more.

Sighing though with all the pressure of her work, she turned the corner and tried to open the door. Strangely, it was locked. This was only reserved to the worst of cases, when the patient was either dying or suffering from an unknown disease. Quietly, she pushed the key in and turned. A small click. Another turn of the knob and the door was open. A young pallid girl lay on the pinkish-toned blanket, her forehead furrowed in a deep frown, but it was obvious she was still unconscious. A young doctor, probably a newcomer, stood right beside her. He looked at Dr. Pegasus and started to stammer. She sighed once more in annoyance, and said tiredly, Spit it out.

The man-boy fumbled with his papers before telling Dr. Pegasus what this girl had. Shocked, she leaned back on the wall. The virus that infected this girl was one similar to the Pokrus virus, the very one Dr. Pegasus was studying. That was probably why they called her. However, this must be kept within the hospital; not even one word of it could be mentioned to the media. She pulled the girls eyelids upwards, looking at the whites of her eye. Yes, just like Pokmon inflicted with the disease.

The strange thing was: why was this version of the sickness pressing so heavily on this girl? Her brain was shut down and her body was weak. She was deep in a coma, something that was not a condition suffered by others. The others were of course Pokmon. She questioned further and the other junior doctor told her the details. The Pokrus were attacking her central nervous system right now; that was a bad sign. Homeostasis might not occur when needed. She needed to fight this virus by herself though. All they could do was to help balance her system.

She nodded to the other doctor, signaling that she would take over this study. The man left the room as Dr. Pegasus now sat down on the chair and yawned; more work. She picked up the clipboard and took down more notes about Airlia Sylph Wang.

Where am I?

I only feel pain. The sky here is white, while calming jade trees tower at my two sides. They are beautiful; strange I can notice that when my bones were burning, my flesh boiling. My eyes are too dry. I dont feel comfortable at all. It is pain. Suffering. All of those nouns combined together. It hurt. And yet, it didnt. Tentatively, I struggle to put my foot in front. When it touches the invisible ground, a visible disturbance radiates from that exact same spot. Walking on water.

Or am I walking on light? Ripples of shadows now spread out neatly from my other foot, which touched the surface. Slowly, in this manner, I move forwards, with the smarting flames of torture climbing from the depths of my body. It isnt that bad when you get used to it. Then I see her. Enveloped in a corona of darkness, her dark pupils swallowing the surrounding light greedily. I myself feel the pull of gravity, slowly attracted to her lithe form.

She is floating. Her feet do not touch the ground, the ends of her white robe hanging downwards. Beside her, the trees blossom into night flowers, their white center stretching out to the ends, slowly turning gray then black. The aroma of these flowers floats in the space and for a moment, the pain disappears and I am left with nothing but the pulse of life, going through my veins. I feel good. Still, after that miniscule moment, the flowers close up and the trees turn black, crumbling into ashes after a while.

An Oriental woman, dressed in full Japanese-Chinese garb, holding a paper fan in her left hand sashays slowly beside the first woman. She flips open her fan and a scattering of beautiful pink cherry blossoms adorns the surface. Immediately, the blackened trees return to their full glory, the grayish flowers blasting open again, now giving an overwhelming taste of its sickening sweet aroma. My knees weaken and I almost fell down in a pile of numbness.

The other woman muttered, Lady Luck, stop it. The Asian woman pouts, closes and reopens her fan to reveal dark ominous skulls, black flames surrounding them. The trees now crumpled into ash and disappeared as a strange rotten wind blasts from behind, causing the flakes to disappear into the white sky. Now, no more trees stand beside us; it was all an empty space.

The pain returns with a vengeance, throbbing within my head. The first lady slides up in front of me and on my knees, I look up at her. She smiles and says, Hi Larii. Im Karma. And youre in Limbo! At that moment, the dark halo, white background and everything else become reverse. The sky is black, her halo was ivory and her robe now was midnight. Her hot red lips part to show her perfect white teeth before she continues, Youre here to decided whether youre going up or down, on whether you live or die. It depends on what you do. It depends on what you did. It depends on everything. I nod, my teeth clenching hard, as the waves of pain come and go.

And Im here to make it easier. Maybe. Or make it harder. It depends again. Im Lady Luck, she pauses then starts, Maybe you heard of me? I nod once again. These two I am familiar with. These two I have heard of. However, I never knew them as people. Both of them laugh at the same time, with Lady Luck saying, Now you know. I try to speak but my voice is lost. It is gone. What can I do? What can I say?

Sensing my hysterics, Karma lifts up her pale arms, allowing the sleeves of the robe to slip down to her shoulders, only showing her thin shoulders. Again, the background changes, her color changes. Everything changes, except for Lady Luck. She chuckled as the pain now grew. My mind goes blank but I cannot faint. No escape. No release.

Only the blood of angels will save you now.

---

Zrai stood at the pond, its fragile surface covered in thin ice. She didnt know how those water Pokmon lived; were they under the ice? Her red eyes turned and looked at the blue sky. She could feel Airlia. She was suffering in the hospital. The curse of being a Kirlia; she knew that this was going to happen, but the only problem was she could not tell Airlia. Zrai was beautiful and she knew it was all Airlias doing: she could only grow this way when exposed to her trainers emotions. However, there was darkness in her heart; how did it affect me, she wondered.

Jayde floated slowly, moving towards Zrai. They knew each others roles the best. Both of them were connected to Airlia indefinitely. Jayde had more of a freedom, knowing that she had to keep her real powers of happiness to herself. As she approached the Psychic Pokmon, Jayde realized that the area surrounded the Kirlia had warped and changed: it showed trees with weird black-tipped gray flowers. She shuddered uncontrollably before Zrai turn about and looked at Jayde.

I saw Airlia, but I dont know where she is. I just know she hurts

Jayde looked down on the ground. Zrai looked into the reflective ice. Snowflakes fluttered down from the sunlight as Zrai stretched out her arms and started to dance, the red horns on her head radiated heat, warmth and love. She missed Airlia deeply and of course, she wanted to visit her. Jayde looked at the Psychic Pokmon and knew immediately what she was thinking. Jayde wanted to see Airlia too. Being stuck at the Daycare didnt help at all.

Jayde nodded, agreeing. Agnis appeared too, by the tree. She looked down on the pale glittering snow and her heart suddenly stopped beating. Airlia was sick and no one knew why. All she could remember was the sick splatter of red. Nodding again, all of them felt the same. Agnis especially. She had been left alone here, once before. Airlia had wanted her to rest. But when youre all alone, what comfort could you have? Agnis had trained by herself, focusing on only her own strength but her life had felt empty. No one could describe the amount of joy that blossomed in her heart when Airlia came back to end her vacation. Agnis punched a tree; splinters of bark flew. She was angry because the doctors didnt tell them anything, but sent them to the Daycare immediately.

Azura was alone; he didnt want to be with the other girls. He had to be strong; he wore a mask of apathy, of strength. What else could he do? He couldnt fall now; Airlia wouldnt want him to. The doctor didnt tell them anything. What could they tell all of them? They were merely Pokmon, just pets. They probably thought they couldnt understand, but they did. We did, he thought as he gritted his sharp teeth. Silently, Glario wound around him and gave him a hug. A hug that only two armless male Pokmon could share. It was an understanding.

Glario knew that he was a Pokmon that reminded Airlia of her first captured Pokmon: Pileka. Airlia often told Glario about her, and it was exactly why Glario always felt like he was being compared to Pileka. Who knew what happened to her? Airlia often talked of her like she was dead. Like she was not longer here. Glario though didnt love Airlia as much as the others; he was more of a newcomer. However, seeing how much they all loved her, he couldnt help but to wish that she were back. It was somehow different without someone to stroke your scales and sing you songs.

All of them missed her, even Raen, who swam in the unfrozen part of the pond. Airlia had promised to make her beautiful, and even though she hadnt evolved yet, she knew she had changed. The other Feebas spirit within her also opened up and now they were practically sisters. Although, she did seem to be fading away Raen was worried the other Feebas would disappear. She promised she would only leave after they evolve, but she seemed to be absent. Was it because of Airlia?

The phone rang.

The Daycare woman, Mrs. Norris, picked it up and listened. It was Dr. Pegasus. Her voice was hurried, quick and rapid. Mrs. Norris listened carefully. She said, Bring the Pokmon here. I need them. Now. Mrs. Norris nodded nervously, before realizing that Dr. Pegasus could not hear her. Stumbling, she replied, Okay. With a slam, Dr. Pegasus put down the phone.

Mrs. Norris was worried, but she wondered how the Pokmon would take the information. Taking out the Pokeballs that held Airlias Pokmon, she walked to the open area where they rested and announced. Jayde dashed over, her face contorted in worry. The others followed suit, except for Zrai who skipped out from her dance. Her face: apathetic.

She isnt dead yet. No worries, Zrai said to the others, extracting the information from Mrs. Norris' head as she spoke to them. They all nodded grimly, but Raen whispered, It was all your fault. You made Airlia worried. You made her spit out blood. Youre the o- Agnis gave Raen a long hard stare that made her close her mouth. What good did that make now? Agnis wondered. Agnis knew they had to rally with each other, to stay strong when Airlia wasnt around. Once she wakes upif she wakes up everything would be okay.

Agnis looked at the red light enveloped her, and her presence dissolved into pure energy. The Pokball shone in the light, reflecting the psychic Pokmon. Jayde looked at the reflection just as she was recalled; secretly, Jayde did blame Zrai to some extent. It was her fault. She had behaved badly and look now, it had affected Airlia. Jayde shook her head as her body grew light and was absorbed into the transporter ball.

In that split second when she was recalled, she was an angel with a halo of red. Her heart opened and she was no more.

Only the blood of angels can save you now, Larii,

Why, I try to ask. What angel? Karma smiles, and nods to an empty space. Now, in its place, there are angels, of differing shapes and sizes. Some have wings, some do not. Some have them brutally torn, some intact. The blood continues to flow from those wounds. And even though I have none of those terrible gashes, I feel the pain. All the pain. It runs from the top of my head down to my tailbone; it was a shower, where every drop of water stabs your skin and cuts so deep it reaches the bone and within it.

The blood of angel. I crawl and reach them. Their eyes, all gone, dead. I dare not speak. I cannot speak. The pain burns. I hold on of their palms. He looked down. His black wing strikes out from his left shoulder, the other one already chopped off. He whispered his name, Loriga. Loriga? It seems so familiar, and yet the memories are like misted mirrors. I cannot see. I cannot remember. But I know. I am Larii, I think, to try convey the message. He seems to understand.

You need my blood, and yet you dont care enough for me. You compare me with the other. The other one with the wings. The one that is lost. Should I give my blood to you? Only then I understand. They will change. My heart tells me. They will change when they give their blood. Is that why his wing was broken? Is that why, I ask. Loriga walks away without a word. And I move on, hoping, wishing that Ill meet someone that will be willing.

An angels blood is precious. Once given, they will change. And who likes change, especially when its unknown? Lady Luck walks beside me, eyes forwards. Her deep red lips pouted as she flipped her fan open once again. Dark skulls embellish the surface, and she laughs and says, Even luck isnt smiling on you today. Well, Ill come back and try again. As she leaves, I watch. The pain seems to double. And I crawl, hobble again. The light feels cold.

I feel frozen. What is happening?

---

Hooked up?

Dr. Pegasus tapped her foot impatiently as her hovering gaze swept across the clumsy nurse. Sighing, she thought to herself, why in the world did the hospital hire these incompetent fools? This was her chance to show her parents that the path she chose wasnt a bad one. Carefully, she straightened her crisp white doctors uniform and smoothed her straight black hair. She was seriously pissed because the damned daycare woman hadnt sent over the Pokmon yet. Her long fingers snatched the wires and connected them swiftly, leaving the nurse gaping at her.

Its done. You can go.

The nurse timidly nodded and pattered away down the aisle. Sitting down and rubbing her head, she wanted a rest, but once her bottom touched her seat, a flash of red light signaled the arrival of the subjects Pokmon. Giving a tiny groan, she climbed out from the chair and released one of them. A sleek white figure blossomed from the ball, its delicate pearl-like wings extending out from its back. The Togetic hovered as it looked at the doctor.

Dr. Pegasus asked it to calm down as she tried to place the helmet connected to the machine to the Togetic. It struggled wildly but when Dr. Pegasus informed her that it would help her trainer, she calmed down enough for the helmet to be put on. The Pokmon Translator Machine was a new invention by Kantos famous scientist: Dr. Einstain. She marveled for a while as the lights glittered and sparkled before she straightened her uniform again and looked at the Togetic. It was beautiful; she was amazed. She never seen one before and its legendary aura of happiness was surely affecting her in a way. Sitting down, she crossed her feet before asking, Who is the Pokmon with Pokrus?

The Togetic replied in a series of clicks and sweet twittering. The Machine hummed and glowed before revealing its hidden message: I love to eat Lum berries. Dr. Pegasus scratched her head before realizing that the Pokmon wants a treat before they start. Quickly pulling out a tray of berries, she passed a few of them to the Pokmon. It popped one into its mouth before continuing with another series of tweeting. This time, it was translated: Dance like the wind, sing like the rain. Only then will you get an answer. Dr. Pegasus scratched her head once more. It didnt make sense.

Another blast of red light appeared. Another beautiful Pokmon. Airlia was certainly an impressive trainer. Dr. Pegasus watched as both Pokmon spoke to one another. Both of them were empathic Pokmon that can play on humans feelings. She wondered why would a girl allow such Pokmon around her. Already, she could feel her tight controlled feelings unwind. She didnt want it too though, and pulled up her straight hair tighter into a bun. Suddenly, the Kirlia blasted a large amount of psychic energy into her mind. She felt the intrusion and fell backwards.

The words jabbed her brain; they screamed within. No matter how Dr. Pegasus tried to push that probing power out, it stayed, the words echoing infinitely. Even the Togetic shivered as the reverberations bounced within the walls of her skull. She said: That dumb machine doesnt work. and How is Airlia? What should she say? Dr. Pegasus rubbed her head and sighed, before whispering, Keep it down. Airlias really sick. With Pokrus.

<What?>

You heard me. One of you infected her with the virus and I need to know who it is.

The Kirlia suddenly turned her eyes on the Togetic. The silence in the room grew. The crimson of those pupils seemed to increase in volume, engulfing the poor angelic Pokmon. A small squeak emitted from it. Dr. Pegasus understood almost immediately; however, it was more important to contain the dangerous psychic Pokmon, as it suddenly moved closer towards the Togetic murderously. Dr. Pegasus made a move to grab the Pokball, but instead, the Kirlia spun about and disappeared in a blue light.

She wondered what Airlia would say when she found out that her Kirlia had teleported away. Then she stopped. Quickly pinning back stray hairs, she walked towards the Togetic and nodded; she was the one having the virus but was she still sick? Dr. Pegasus checked the Togetics eyes with a flashlight. Yes, it was confirmed. The Togetic still had Pokrus, but it was healing fast. Smiling triumphantly, she had an idea that might save Airlias life. As she walked away after recalling the sick Pokmon, she was proud that she was clever enough to think of making an immunity serum from the Togetic, when it healed.

However, she wasnt clever enough to notice the few droplets of tears that took Zrais place.

---

It was all her damn fault. Not mine. Why did everyone blame me?

Zrai roared in fury, as her psychic powers ripped through the ground, the pulsating blasts pulling out the grass from below. The green blades swept across the air, the brown earth too swirling with gusto. She spun and danced; her head was in a whirl. She could feel Airlia. She could see her. Zrai knew what Airlia was up against; but she didnt know how to defeat them. She was not like the other Pokemon. She was one with her subconscious. She was able to control her movements. She could see herself.

But no, she could not tell Airlia. There was no way. They were stopping it. The Pokrus. They were forming visions of truth in her mind. The warped truth. Half-truths. Half-lies. In the end, were they real or were they not? Zrai knew naught. What she knew was that Airlia had to live just long enough for the doctors finish up with a round of medication. However, the pain Airllia had was unbearable; she might just give up.

Zrai could too feel her pain. She was her master, the one she was supposed to guide. Their minds were joined. She felt what Airlia felt. Every rip of Airlia's soul equaled to a rip of her own. However, she cushioned each blow inflicted on Airlia's mind. It was natural. Zrai did this before when she was just a Ralts. However, this was different. It was affecting her. It was making her change. It made her realize the injustice of the world.

It was all Jaydes fault and everyone blamed her. Raens words replayed in Zrai's head, her face grimacing in slow motion. She made these pictures appear once again, the air molecules about her lithe form reflecting the right color. It was strange though. Creating these visions that had made her so frustrated, made her feel so good. She wondered why.

The image of Raen was in the middle of blaming me once again. And then she tore that image into half and tossed it into the wind.

Oh God, I want to kill her.

---

An angel with a stoic face, armed with a powerful sword, swishes his blade on a delicate female angel. She isnt hurt though. I am afraid. I need the blood of an angel but the pain is too much. The skulls that appeared on the fan earlier are now imprinted in my mind. It meant bad luck. Right then, my pain increased and the fight started. Only that the female dodges all the time and the male fights with ferocity. He turns. He looks at me.

Air-

The angel looks confused. The other female disappears. He says, Youre Larii He pauses. I pause. The pain momentarily is lessened as his finger touches my forehead. I feel blessed. He recoils backwards with the impact of the pain. My heart hurts for him, though I know not why. The angel stands up straight, his eyes kind again; I know he has been kind before, even though this is my first time.

You cant take my blood, he says, You will change. Am I the one who will change? Isnt it the angels who change? The angel whispers, Ill take your pain before disappearing with a calm shade of cerulean. I breathe. The pain is gone. And I am glad the angels arent fighting any longer. Lady Luck flutters next to me, her sleeves long. She smiles.

You almost got one. Lucky you. She opens her fan and out sprouts long jade bamboo sticks. They converge, twist and bend. She smiles and nods. I understand. My luck is turning. I am becoming lucky. That is the only way to beat Karma.

Then, as I realize that, the sky freezes and changes. Karma is here.

---

Its my fault.

Jayde floated in the middle of the room, where all the others were out of their Pokeballs; all except Zrai. Glario was hissing quietly, his eyes questioning as his long body slithered about the ground carefully. He wondered how it could ever be Jaydes fault. Jayde would never ever want Airlia to be hurt in any way. She blinked and looked downwards on the floor. Her shoulders were weighed downwards, maybe by self-inflicted guilt. Glario hiss-sighed.

I infected Airlia with Pokrus.

Agnis held her breath. She never expected this. Standing there, looking at the doctor, then looking back at Jayde. Azura was at the side, rumbling a loud roar of What? Glario slithered upwards and he gave a look of I knew it. Raen was just Raen, her blank stare penetrating. Agnis flexed her claws as she took a seat. The others just stood there. Jayde blinked again, her wings fluttering slightly, then she gulped and whispered, And the doctor says I have to give my blood so they can transfer my antibodies to Airlia. But they say I mightnt enough blood to survive, so

What to do? Jayde paused and thought for a while. The doctor already had a Spoink beside her, ready to translate anything that they wanted to say to the doctor. She wanted to give her blood to save Airlia, but to do that, they told her that they might have to try out some new technology on her, to try evolve her. However, there were no known evolutions of Togetic, but the doctor was sure that she heard of a myth, rumor, something that Togetic can definitely evolve into something as big as a human. A blessed evolution, Jayde remembered her saying, but how was it good?

Her first evolution, she had looked forward to. There was a comfort, knowing that she would become something more graceful, something that could fly. Who knows; she might lose her ability to fly this time, after the evolution. She shuddered as the thought passed her head, her wings unconsciously moving a little faster. Her mind filled with the ugly changes that she might go through and how it was going to happen. Flashes of her mother being abused appeared in her minds eye.

She shuddered and the others looked at her. Agnis tapped her talon on the ground and asked, What happened? Raen however didnt wait for Jayde to answer and asked commandingly, Not enough blood and so what are you going to do? Jayde gulped, her eyes now shimmering with quiet fear, her fur already standing from their roots. She squeaked out, I have to evolve, into something new. Glario laughed. She glared at him; it wasnt as simple as they thought it was. However, Glario noticed that look of anger in Jaydes eyes and he seized back, giving her a stare, much more scary than hers.

Jayde felt like she was paralyzed. Glario then hissed, Just evolve then. Her eyes tried to face his, but she couldnt. In the end, it was still her fault and she should try doing whatever that makes it right. She mumbled, though, Its not so easy. Agnis went over and patted her. She understood. She did have her own feelings about evolution before, but now it was all over for her. However, it was still surprising to her though. She never seen a Togetic evolve. Azura asked quietly, How are you going to do that though? Isnt Togetic the highest you can go? Agnis smiled to herself. So she isnt the only one who thought the same way. Jayde looked at both of them and nodded, saying, I thought so too but

The doctor now stood up, the Spoink following after her. He nodded politely, already having translated most of what they said to the Doctor. She only thought of this after the stupid machine incident. Dr. Pegasus coughed. Most scientists never thought of using Psychic Pokmon to translate; most of them didnt speak in telepathy anyway. Only those who are close to their trainers could; but again, that was her take on how it happened. God, why did she always take her own words like the truth? She didnt like doubts, but still

We have many special stones in the laboratory below, most of them undiscovered rocks that might have evolutionary powers. We are going to take all the pebbles we have and check which of those that have an effect on Jayde. Everyone understand?

They all nodded, but Dr. Pegasus didnt really think they did. She checked out her fingernails, tightened her bun then returned them all into their Pokeballs without a single thought. What she didnt notice again was the cries of the Pokmon before she put them back. She didnt hear them want to know more. She didnt hear them want to see their trainer.

And Jayde wasnt sure if she wanted to go for the evolution. But to Dr. Pegasus, everything was as simple as this: evolve Togetic, get the blood, and cure the patient. And finally, her name would be printed in the newspapers as the doctor who managed to cure the first patient with Pokrus. She licked her lips as she thought of that and she left the room to see the patient once again.

This was her big chance and she couldnt blow it. Her parents were going to be so proud of her.

Karma floats down. Her face serene. Body limber. She is ready to tell me some truths. I am ready to accept them. Her light smooth voice whispers, Larii, you have to know that all these angels are your friends. I nod, taking in the information. She continues, her silk sound moving seamlessly out from her mouth, They know you, the real you. And this is the real them. The things they dont dare to say. Once you recognize who they really are, their blood will be yours to take; but only if you dare to take it. I wonder what she means.

As soon as she finishes her words, the sky returns. Her body dissipates. Lady Luck flicks her fan. Cherry blossoms. The flowers bloom. An angel appears. And I know her name. It is Sangi Kiralf. Her glowing smile meets my eyes. Sangi, I try to speak. The aroma fades the pain. Her hand touches my forehead, then my cheek, then holds my head up. She stares into my eyes; her blue pupils look like my own. Then she whispers, her breath slow and labored, Youre the best. Youre my pillar. And Im yours. Her breath is hot and steamy, her strong-boned body relaxing upwards now, her forearm lifting up. She hands me a dagger, and pushes up her robe so her thigh is naked.

Her pink-white flesh is revealed in its full glory, but I tremble with my dagger and realize that I cannot do it. I dont know who she really is. I look up at her eyes again, and she smiles. She puts her lips close to my ear and she says, You know who this is. You know, even when I dont know. That is true. I see her thoughts. I see her thinking herself as Sangi. And she doesnt know who she really is. Her long pearly hair fall down from her head, to the bottom of her blue robe, tinged with orange. I close my eyes and I think.

Agnis.

She gasps, and recoils, as if remembering a suffering memory. One that is still suffering. She nods. And I remember at the same time. She is a Blaziken. She is an angel. She is my best friend. It seems like she remembers who she is and her eyes fill with horror and understanding. She gasps and whimpers, Wait. Save me. Release me! before her body dissolves. The sky freezes again, flickering between white and black.

Karma floats down again. Her robe flies upwards, her eyes closed. Her fingers emit sparkles. Her satin throat spells out, Shes been sent to the bloodletter. Once you have enough angels, you can return. She whips out a cigarette and smokes, the thin twisting gray gas meanders upwards as I start to choke on the pain again. The flowers are gone. I am in pain. In more pain than before.

I feel like dying as I hear Agnis lingering words: Help.

I need to get out of this world. Agnis needs my help.

---

Shouldnt we?

Agnis shook her head, her blue eyes wavering as she watched the dead figure on the bed, breathing with her new ventilator. Her body was weak, her muscles slowly disappearing. Her face was gaunt, totally different from what Agnis normally saw. And she was shocked. This was just the second day. And look at her. It wasnt a drastic change; her muscles were mostly still there, her gauntness was just a little, but what was gone was her spirit.

Agnis looked away, eyes switching from the gray person on the bed to the bright peach curtains on the window. Her seat beside Airlias bed was surprisingly quite comfortable. That thought though, she knew, was a distraction from the girl on the bed. Zrai looked at her, tapping her foot on the ground rhythmically, in her head the music of angels and the throbbing pain. Agnis didnt know what to say. This wasnt Airlia; she knew it. However, what Zrai was suggesting was something Agnis could and would not do. No matter how much Airlia was suffering, she just would and could not do it.

You know why I asked you?

Zrais cold red glare stuck on Agnis. She felt trapped, as if she had no choice. Her feathery head shook. Zrai sighed, her arms lifting to hold the doorframe properly. Agnis raised an eyebrow. Zrai then moved over and her fingers started playing with the needles on the end of Airlias bed. She whispered, Guess. Agnis didnt want to guess, but what else could she do? Zrai was expecting her to. Her ivory fingers squirted some liquid from the thin needle at the end; she laughed when they sprouted out.

Because Im strong enough to do it.

The Kirlia looked at her for a moment, then tittered delicately, her mouth covered by her hand. A sudden stop, eyes fierce, and she plunked the needle on the little table, her voice straining a little. She said, You think I need your help to kill Airlia? No. I just thought you cared enough for her to want to do it with me. She then sashayed to a nearby visiting chair and sat down gently. Agnis watched her, bewildered by her behavior.

Airlias hand jolted up suddenly, and the index finger moved upwards to point at Zrai. Zrai recoiled, her eyes growing wider. She rasped, Do you want it? The hand plopped downwards, back onto the bed. Zrai spun quickly, her heart thumping hard, like grenades exploding within her ribs. She said, Look! Its obvious she wants rest. Let her rest.

Agnis didnt dare say anything. That statement could mean two things. Either it was to leave her alone, or it was to kill her. Agnis knew that Airlia wasnt a person to fall to anything; she would want to stand up and fight. It was just that she was fighting a losing one; but they didnt know if tides would change. Who knows, Airlia could be awake the very next day. She looked out of the window, to the horizon, where little trees dotted the landscape. How beautiful. She knew that word, beautiful, meant nothing; but nothing seemed to be very appropriate for this situation. She didn't know what to do.

Zrai kept her stoic silence. Within her head, she still felt Airlias pain. It was those kind of pain no one ever wants to go through with; the pain where most people would want to give up and just die. Airlia, though, wasnt most people. Zrai looked at her. It still hurt, when she saw the slight frown in Airlias face, when she saw all the tubes being stuck within her body, how those liquids were supposed to help her but they didnt. Her lips were so dry, her skin sallow. Should she say anything?

Zrai cleared her voice; she wasnt used to speaking out loud for a long time. Normally, telepathy did the job but now, it was different. She needed to show Agnis how Airlia was suffering. The pain. Slowly, she hovered to Agnis, only the tips of her toes trailing the ground. Agnis looked up, her long tail feathers moving backwards cleanly. Her blue eyes, pure. Zrai put her hands in the other Pokmons palms.

Ill show you.

A jolt of sharp pain blasted through their connection. Agnis tried to hold it in; but she let go a small exclamation. It was freezing. Frost almost seemed to grow over her palms. Zrais eyes stayed wide open, staring into Agnis. Agnis looked at her and begged her to let go. Zrai nodded. The pain stopped. Zrai stood up again, the cerulean glow about her slowly dissipate. She blinked and calmly, with her finger tracing the windowpane and forming shapes due to the condensation of water on the glass, she said, Thats only half of her pain. It is what I suffer everyday. I dont only feel her happiness; I feel everything she feels and sometimes, I try to absorb it, so she doesnt need to handle everything, by herself. She narrowed her eyes on Agnis.

You understand now?

Agnis nodded sadly, the remainder of the pain still throbbing through her veins. Still, killing Airlia just because of this pain didnt seem justifiable. Her talons touched the girl lightly; the girl almost seemed to smile. Agnis beak parted, and she breathed out. With a sudden toss of her head, she stared at the Kirlia who stood opposite her. Her breath became heavier, and her glare grew in intensity. Her contralto voice grew to a crescendo as she stood up from her seat; she said, Ill protect Airlia, no matter what. If you want to kill her, you have to go through me.

Zrai never expected that to happen, but with a lazy smile, she whispered, You? Then she cackled. Agnis looked at her, her face in grave seriousness. Zrai only smiled, her body covered with an icy cyan glow. Agnis heard a swishing behind her and she turned.

Above Agnis floated a sharp needle.

---

Dr. Pegasus was at her desk again, but now in her hand she has a list of the stones in the laboratory. She had forgotten to tell the little Togetic that the effects might be temporary due to the lack of stone. Her fingers traced down the list, stopping only at those that might be able to work; it was better to narrow down the rocks down using common sense. It wasnt like the Fire Stone would have any effect on the little Happiness Pokmon.

Love Stone, Light Stone and the Awakener Stone.

Then she paused and giggled at one of the names: Philosophers Stone. Was it the same legendary stone that provided immortality? Who ever gave that dumb name to a stone was most probably a fanatic of sorts. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Her head turned to look at the intruder. A nurse, blonde with warm brown eyes, paused at the door. She was wearing a pink nurse uniform, a sign that she is a senior nurse. Dr. Pegasus nodded at her, wondering why on earth a nurse would come up to her door and knock.

The other senior doctors would like to know what youre up to. And how the girls doing. Dr. Pegasus just gave an irritated wave. This was her business; why did she have to report everyone other move to the Committee? The nurse stood there, her breath growing heavier. Then she broke the silence, asking, So you coming? Dr. Pegasus shook her head. The nurse tapped her foot, still. Dr. Pegasus gave an exasperated grunt, giving a look that read, Please get lost to the nurse.

A swift shadow passed the nurse, and a pretty head popped in. A frustrated Dr. Pegasus stared at the intruder, who just giggled and said, I knew you wouldnt come. Thats why Im here! Dr. Pegasus asked lazily, as if she expected it all along, What are you doing here, Narcissa? The woman leaned against the doorframe and waved the nurse away, continuing with another lazy string of words, Dont call me that. Ill call you Dr. Pegasus, and youll call me Dr. Medusa. A steely gaze from Dr. Pegasus and she just rolled her eyes and continued, Well, everyones waiting, you better come!

Dr. Pegasus followed the plastic surgeon. There was really no need to let all of them know, especially her. What did the Head of Body Reconstruction had to do with the Pokrus case? As Dr. Medusa opened the door, Dr. Pegasus saw the other two head doctors within. She laughed and wondered how these other departments have to do with the Pokrus disease. There was Dr. Hercules, his strong fingers showing that he was the Head of Physiotherapy, and the other man was Dr. Muse, the Head of Psychiatry. The two of them though just sat and waited for Dr. Pegasus to elaborate.

Wait, why should I do this again?

Dr. Hercules gave a smirk, flicking his blond hair backwards, then speaking deeply, Well, you should really. We vote to take away your monetary support if we dont thinking youre spending it right. Dr. Muse just gave an enigmatic smile, his beard covering most of his facial expression. Dr. Medusa sat at the table too, her pink nails thumping the table hard. Dr. Pegasus took a deep breath; they were serious.

She looked at the notes she brought and started to explain

I guess you met my alter-ego.

Karma is gone, leaving only me. But here is another female. Her wings are green, almost emerald in the glow of the stars. I nod. The man who took my pain away, looks exactly like her. She nods back, her voice quiet again, I am Razi Eniales I think. She says, The other is my creation. My physical representation of your pain. My pain? I wonder though: why is it still here then?

Your pain grows; he hurts me.

Her finger points at the male Razi. His sword is long, and he pointed it into the air. She whispers into my ear, But hes now aiming at Sangi.

---

Agnis immediately shot a minute fireball and the needle fell to the ground, charred. Zrai was about to say something else, but Agnis beat her to the chase, Lets get out of here. She was right; the smoke alarm started to beep. A nurse charged in that moment, and she witnessed a gleam of blue before seeing nothing else. She switched the alarm off before sniffing the air. There was smoke yes, but it was gone. And if she were to report this, she had to write an irregularity report. She sighed before deciding against it. There were only two people who witnessed it: her and the person in the coma. Security wouldnt check the cameras unless something suspicious was happening.

The needle rolled under the bed, unseen.

---

What do you think?

Zrai spoke of her plan to all the others. The team was split now. Glario stood on Zrais side, and she knew that only his eyes were clear. Even though all of them felt the pain Zrai received from Airlia, Azura was adamant on his decision; to protect Airlia from whatever harm she might receive. Jayde was not there though; she was undergoing the tests with the doctors in the hospital. Raen only floated in her tank, eyes blank but mind bubbling with thought.

Give her the rest she needs. Glario hissed, his eyes concentrating on the fish. He didnt understand. If he were her, he would be begging to die; but that might be why he was so weak. She had a strong spirit, but Glario hurt every time he saw her struggle to breath; when she frowned suddenly. It hurt him and he could not take it any longer. The pain, proven by Zrai, had been so much. To keep a faade and deal with it was something Airlia would do. Setting her free though, was something he wanted to do.

Azura had always been a guardian. Zrai was supposed to be one too. He didnt understand why she had turned against Airlia. Airlia was in great pain now, but instead of healing that, she was about to make it worse. He told Agnis of what he felt and she too nodded, agreeing totally with him. A Pokmon companion, battler, as long as he or she was a partner of the trainer, should help, not destroy. Azura felt a little disappointed in the newest addition of the team: Glario. They did connect at some level, but Glario obviously didnt understand the true meaning of being a guardian. Zrai, though, seemed to have problems with her own personality and mood.

So, what do we do? Agnis looked sternly at the Psychic Pokmon. Zrai fiddled with the spoon she found in her hand before just smirking and saying, You try stop us. She planted her palm onto Glarios large back and both of them disappeared in a blue light. Agnis shook her head, her tail feathers swaying in the breeze. Raen cleared her throat and said, I dont know I dont want Airlia to suffer but I dont want her to die Agnis gave a small smile and bent down.

Then help us protect her.

Raen nodded her head unsurely. Who was she to decide on whether Airlia lives or not? It was Airlias decision, and hers alone. Raen kept to herself.

---

Dr. Hercules looked at the delicate lass lying right down in front of him. Unconsciously, he licked his lips, my fingers itching to start his session of physiotherapy. Slowly, he stroked the girls hair away from her face, his eyes never leaving her. His fingers went to work, kneading the soft muscles on her thin shoulders. His eyes never left her. His fingers pressed. They continued. And they continued.

He let his eyes linger at her chest for a moment. He smiled to himself as his hands now worked on her right arm, the one nearest to him. The dark night shimmered outside, but inside, it was stark dull. He suddenly felt a little hot and pulled his collar. He continued, only switching arms and letting his forearm brush the top accidentally. His cheeks flush uncontrollably. It wasnt his first time doing this, but he doesnt know why this was happening. His breath was hot; the mask felt horrible on his face.

Yikes!

Suddenly, as the tip of his finger brushed her chest one more time, a short sharp pain drove through it. A piece of ice covered his finger. More crept up his other arm, and he drew back quickly in pain. Smashing the ice violently onto the ground, he realized the whole room has become much colder. He scrambled to get out of the room, before the nurse had opened the door.

Her voice passed through the doctor: What are you doing here?

Making no effort to reply, he pushed his way out. The nurse shook her head and concluded that he must be doing those things again. She made up her mind to report him later, but now the patient was the most important thing. Taking just one step inside, she felt the freezing cold and the wind picked up from inside. It was almost like a blizzard and it came out of nowhere. She shut the door quickly and the windows that show Airlia were now misted with condensation.

She turned and ran.

---

Dr. Pegasus sighed to herself. She collected some blood from Airlia for testing, but some of them had gone missing. It was definitely stolen by one of the other Head Doctors. She continued to type on the computer. It seems like Jayde had reacted to one of the stones: the Light Stone. She smiled to herself and checked the supplies and they seemed to have just enough to keep Jayde in the evolutionary stage. A sudden shriek came from the nurse taking care of Airlia, as she ran in.

Dr. Pegasus wondered why she had to be the one who had the hysterical nurses. Calmly, she spun her chair about and said, Whats the matter, Helen? The senior nurse stuttered for a moment before spitting out the truth: Theres a blizzard in Airlias room! Dr. Pegasus stifled a giggle before she asked, Really? Her laughter then burst out full force before the nurse shouted, Go look for yourself, Dr. Pegasus! I never lie about these things!

If you say so.

Dr. Pegasus got up and put on her mask, strolling carefully to the door. However, when she noticed that the window had misted over, she rushed, pushed in the key and opened the door. A cold blast of wind shot through her, like an invisible tiger and she fell backwards, allowing the door to open up fully, the icy tornado charging out. Her eyes were blinded by the cold and she could not see what happened within.

She heard shuffling and finally Dr. Muse and a group of nurses closed the door. Looks like Helen had the sense to inform the others. Dr. Muse rushed up towards her and helped her up. Panting, he asked, Whats wrong with the patient? Dr. Pegasus shook her head. She didnt know. Getting her energy back quickly, she beckoned him to follow her and ran. The other nurses went back to their own business, only wondering what had happened within the room.

Her fingers tapped the keyboard, the video camera in Airlias room showing up. She pointed at the comatose girl and realized that she was conjuring a strange drop in temperature. And strangely, despite the cold, all the machines were working fine. Dr. Muse looked from behind her, curious. She continued to check her body processes and it seemed to her that Airlias body was now rapidly gaining back the muscle she had lost during the coma. Her heart rate was rapid and the virus was not spreading any longer.

Dr. Muses questioned, Does this have to do with the phenomenon you discovered with ordinary Pokmon? It struck her immediately. The virus had tendencies to help Pokmon increase their abilities. It explained the rapid growing of her muscles, and the heightened heartbeat. The only question to these happenings now was this: why was she creating ice? Dr. Pegasus bit her pen, as she spun, cracking her knuckles next. It struck her almost immediately; her body was somehow reacting to the virus. Knowing that a low temperature would impede the reproduction of a virus, the body somehow created that drop. Her heightened ability might allow a person to do that.

Dr. Muse nodded as she explained. If the Pokrus virus could induce such powers, everyone would want to have it, he suggested. It could revolutionize the whole world! As he continued to ponder on how to put the virus to good use, Dr. Pegasus now carefully thought about the terrible nature of the virus; what if it was used as a weapon? What if it turned people into those ice cocoons? As a biological weapon, it would be unbeatable.

---

You have to protect yourself! And protect her!

Razi shouts as the man points his sword at me as well. I point at him. Ice blasts from my finger unexpectedly and wraps him about. His sword clatters to the ground. Razi smiles and whispers, Only Sangi can defeat him. Lets give her our power. She will question him the question hes been asking himself; he just doesnt know. I nod, and point to the sky. The energy blasts upwards and the sky rumbles.

Sangis voice. Why do you absorb that pain? Why dont you defeat it from the roots? The male Razi looks bemused, then confused. He looks at Razi, who also scratches her head. Slowly, she floats to him and they merge into one. Her long hair flows through the air and they are one again. She bows to me and says, I shouldnt just take away your pain. I should help defeat it. Im sorry, Mistress. She covers her mouth, as if she said something that she never expected to say.

Mistress? Quietly, I cup her cheeks with my hand and I whisper, Its okay, Zrai. I forgive you. Her eyes widen and she continues to bow as she fades away. I realize I said something I never meant to say. Zrai That must be her name. I smile as her energy flies upwards to the sky.

Another to the Bloodletting Room.

Karmas quiet voice said.

The glaring lights stared back at Jayde. The pressure. She was already at the operating table, her vulnerable skin being scorched by the light. She was about to evolve by the use of stones; like a forced evolution. She looked worriedly at Dr. Pegasus, who for the first time, let her hair down. She nodded comfortingly, making clicking sounds. Jayde tried to relax. Dr. Pegasus already told her the problem with the Pokrus; others would want it for its power. The only way now to prevent this was to cure Airlia as quickly as possible.

Her mouth was covered with a mask now, Dr. Pegasus hand placing it carefully on her face. It was supposed to let her relax. She felt her senses dulling quickly, her eyes already shut. It was a strange sensation; her gut was rumbling wild. As her mind went out, she knew the feeling: death.

---

Dr. Pegasus finally understood. Her fingers pressed the tiny glowing pebble against Jaydes skin, the rock entering her body as the pure light energy it was. Slowly, her form glowed with a fierce white, then red. She sighed. It had been so long since she had returned home. Her parents hadnt seen her in weeks. She guessed she was too absorbed into her work; and she had changed into something horrible. The nurse beside her immediately slipped the tube into the Togekiss wing.

She was just beautiful, that change and that was what Dr. Pegasus wanted to be. She always wanted to become something that her parents would admire, but being a famous doctor wasnt going to cut it. She called home earlier and her mother was so elated. It had been years since she contacted them. She still remembered the bright lit in her voice.

Toan Pegasus! Its been so long! I missed you! You better come back home!

She swore she heard her mother crying. Being a doctor didnt make her parents proud of her; talking to them did. The blood was pumped from the Togekiss, her fingers stroking the larger Pokmon. She didnt know her change yet, but how the Togekiss looked made her tingle. It induced a calmness that she never felt for a long time, her heart beating in a steady rhythm. Tapping the nurses shoulder, Dr. Pegasus told her that it was enough blood and she could stop the pumping.

And thats done, Dr. Pegasus thought to herself. The nurse stopped the blood tube and pasted a piece of plaster on the wound. She whispered carefully, her eyes curious, Dr. Pegasus, what are you going to do with the blood? Dr. Pegasus laughed to herself despite the mask, and started to explain. She was going to extract the antibodies from the blood and form a serum that can help create the exact same antibodies within Airlias body. It would destroy the Pokrus.

But the ice

She had forgotten about that. The nurses all carried Jaydes body to her resting room while Dr. Pegasus sat in the evolution room, thinking things through.

---

Zrai warped into Airlias room, with the company of Glario. The menacing gleam of the machines in the room glared at both of them, as the cold air swirled around the space. A thick slab of ice closed in Airlia, but she was still breathing well; the ice was her own creation. Zrai knew that well because Airlia was a witch. The ice reaction was due to her Pokrus-boosted witchy abilities. Zrai though knew that it was also a self-preservation thing and it was subconsciously held up by Airlia.

This meant anyone who could be a threat would be harmed by the magic, but anyone who was familiar with Airlia, anyone who was trusted, would not be. Thus, Zrai and Glario stood in the room without turning into ice. Still, though, they felt the wintry chill of the room. She nodded at Glario. They had decided earlier that a poison sting attack would be more merciful than a blast of psychic energy to her mind.

As Zrai looked at the girls face, her expression softened, from a face that creased in every way possible to one smooth, thoughtful. Something within her made her stop and think about what she was doing. She was about to kill Airlia, the girl who cared and loved her from the start. Her finger shuddered. Her mind didnt feel any more pain. Only numbness. She resisted, her hand paused in the air. Glario stopped, his body in mid-movement. She hesitated. She was so beautiful; till it actually hurt to do something for her. However, Zrai knew if she didnt do this, both of them would suffer; both Airlia and her would be in pain. She put her hand down and Glario swiveled to look at her, to see if she was all right. She nodded and he began.

As Glario sucked in air, his body was violently grabbed by fierce talons. Zrai swirled around, her psychic voice announcing to everyone: <You cant stop us.> Her fingers raised up, using that gesture to try stop Agnis. Agnis though gave the Arbok a swing and tossed him onto the floor, her contralto voice shouting back, Thats what you think! Zrai froze Agnis with a Psychic stare, but almost immediately, Zrai was bitten by Azura, his large hidden teeth sinking within her soft back. She struggled to fling him off with another Psychic blast but it was hopeless. Her mind suffered and she knew that it was done. A finger raised, aimed at Airlia

Stop!

Jayde appeared. She teleported into the room somehow. She sighed, her gentle exhalation of air affecting everyone. Everyone froze, their eyes focused on her. A powerful aura, like still air, seemed to spread. They all felt it. Zrai felt it. Her heart slowed down, her eyes closed. She didnt want this. No, Airlia didnt want this. Not for them to fight like this, but for them to be Zrai gasped, as Airlias voice seemed to blossom within her mind, a gentle spray of sound: I want us to be like a family. When Zrai opened her eyes, the smiling closed eyes look of everyone else told her that they were hearing the same thing.

The blizzard was no more. Jayde smiled weakly, her thin voice weaving through the still silence, I dont like fighting no more. We must stick together. Airlias going to be cured. She is going to take my blood. So please, be a happy family, at least when she wakes up. Zrai nodded, her body upright again. Everyone looked at everyone else. Zrai whispered, Sorry. Everyone else just nodded. Her ruby eyes stared at them, and her heart broke.

Sorry, she kept repeating. Still, the person who needed to hear it the most couldnt hear it. Her body lay on the bed, bloodless, lifeless and it was all because of her. Her mind filled with all her failures as a guardian: turning on Airlia when she was supposed to guard her; failing her in battle again and again; not loving her as much as the others. Her fragile body collapsed onto the floor. Jayde blinked, her eyes serene as everyone crowded around Zrai. Agnis carried her while Azura muttered, Mustve bitten too hard Sorry

The ice in the room calmed, reduced and disappeared.

The sky is white. I sit on the ground, apparently floating, as I watch the dark clouds roll about aimlessly. Two angels have returned. They are up in the room, waiting for me to gather our other friends. I dont remember them, but Im having a sense of knowing what to do. An angel now stood right in front of me. He was the first I met. His name is Loriga, but that isnt his true name. His fangs stick out, large and ready to bite. I lift a hand, my eyes meeting his. He wants to draw blood; and if blood is what I get in exchange, I was ready.

The pain is numbing but I know it is ending soon. I am stronger now. Lorigas eyes widen, his mouth open. He swiftly turns, trying to take a bite from my hand. I let him. Then I weep as he sucked in what I had. His eyes turn soft, his forehead frowning. When he lets go, my wound heals but the pain stays. I look at him. The soft wind meanders through his long purple hair, his black feathers ruffling within its force. Tears trickle down my cheeks. I know his name now. And I know what he feels.

I wont do it any longer. I wont compare you to Pileka, Glario. You are you. And Im sorry.

His fangs dissolve, and he takes a few steps back. His last words: I forgive you. And it is all that matters.

---

Dr. Pegasus drew a little more blood from Airlia, intending to test it out with the serum she created. Adding the clear colorless liquid into the crimson blood, she shook her head to herself when they coagulated, forming little red spheres. Nope, that wasnt right.

---

I know he is coming; I feel it with all my heart. His feet touch the ground and it tremors. I wait for him. And he does arrive, his stone wings stretching far apart, long and wide. His face is covered with a mask, pure gray with black markings. An enigma. I dont know what he wants, nor did I ever know what he wanted. Slowly, his hand reaches out and I grab it. He helps me up. His voice, low and rumbling, fill my ears like an earthquake; he says, I want to be your guardian. Just like how Razi wants to be. But I dont know how.

The memories are flowing; they are coming faster than ever. As I collapse into his arms, I laugh and tell him not to worry.

Because youre being a good guardian as long as youre at my side, Azura. He fades away and I fall.

---

Nope, not right. Dr. Pegasus placed the mixture down on her table. Airlias hand fell from the bed. She sighed and put it back upwards. In just a few more hours, once she got the right concentration, she could give Airlia her cure. Be patient, she whispered.

---

And this is not the end. Time passes quickly. Lady Luck smiles at me, her fan showing pictures of blossoming flowers, and she is blessing me with her luck. Her powers are random and that means I was lucky enough to receive her luck. I wave at her, as she floats by. She doesnt wave back though. I just sigh and drop my hand. The fall hurt me. But the pain is better; it is a gentle throb now. I know I am going to be all right soon. My memories are coming back. I remember Agnis, Zrai, Glario and Azura.

A splatter of water. An angel without wings lands right in front of me. She looks lost. Her eyes are searching the horizon. I smile and ask, Are you looking for me? She shook her head. Her voice was lost to the wind, just like mine was, but now I know how to speak. I told her, To speak, you have to find yourself. She nods, but her eyes continue to search. She is looking for herself.

I hold my body tight; I am Larii and nothing can take that away from me. Her gleaming red eyes, those that are held wide open, that search the far away. She is lost; just like I am. Lost from my own world. And immediately, when I felt her name within my heart, I knew her real name. I said, You are not Enra. You are Raen. Save me. She gasped, her real voice coming out, I am Raen; no, we are Raen.

And I remember that Raen always had two of her within. The one who always wished to be born and the one who always wished to go back to her real home. I smile at her as she disappears, her hand brushing against my cheek as it does. Thank you, I whisper.

---

Dr. Pegasus shook the test-tube. It was right; no clumps, nothing. Checking for viruses None. Good. This serum could help destroy the virus and now checking that blood for more anti-bodies Yes. Presence of Anti-Pokrus antibodies. Good. This was the right mixture. She prepared more of the substance.

---

And then there is one more of my guardian angels. There is just that last one. She is beautiful, I can remember. She is mine. I stand, but I wobble. My feet are weak, my knees sore. I feel like those castles made up of playing cards. I laugh to myself as the image comes into mind. I wait. She is coming; I feel it in my blood, in my very soul. The wind breezes by and I feel her. She is here. Her soft fluffy wings fill the air and my feathers intertwine within her wings.

Her gentle voice. Mama.

I smile. I miss her so. The aroma of her pearly white hair, her fragile frame within my arms. I feel like I can protect her again. And her voice: I will have to save you now. I nod. Her blood is the key. I just know it is. Her blood is the one connecting us all. She is the one who appears to the pure of heart. She is the one who will save us all.

As I whisper her name, we dissolve in the quiet atmosphere of Limbo.

Jayde.

---

The needle was in. Dr. Pegasus gave her small exclamation as she pushed the serum into Airlias blood. Who knew how long this will take? Days, months, years? No matter, she was sure it would work well. Airlias fingers start to flutter and Dr. Pegasus clasped her fingers together, hoping that extracting Jaydes blood wouldnt have been for nothing.

---

Its time for Judgment. I am the Judge. I am Karma.

The woman whose delicate frame hides her fierce personality sat on the high wooden chair, her roaming eyes covering other six before focusing on me. Her sharp scarlet nails tap the table that is in front of her, as if impatient to start, but holding it back in for some reason. She starts by clearing her throat and continuing, The gift of voice. The gift of life. All these are only given if youre worthy of it, her olive eyes narrow, her voice turns sour, her face frowns, and she continues, But who knows if youre worthy?

I look at her, not knowing what she meant. Not worthy? I speak with my voice; I had the ability to. However, now when I try to, nothing. Why? I know who I am: I am Larii. Still, my voice does not react. I look her at her vengefully; I know she must be the one who took my voice. She laughs and shakes her head. She points at me and says, You dont remember. You dont know your own true name. How can you ever take control of yourself?

Now, Larii, whats your real name?

I stare back at Karma. Her question what did it mean? Wasnt Larii my real name?

You dont remember.

Her thin lips curl into a smile, a cruel one. She cackles loudly, her slim arms flailing high in the air, voice drawing into a screech: All that time was wasted! You will never return to life without your true name! She gestures to all the angels, all those that knew me, those that I collected, all of them standing up above. Silence. I gasp quietly, my voice lost. Karma points at me now, her finger condemning me for life, and for death.

Sangi stands up. Jayde and Razi on her sides. Azura kneels down in front, along with Enra and Loriga. Sangi stares at Karmas eyes, defiant and full of indignity. Her smooth voice shoots out, like fire streaming from a phoenixs mouth, She doesnt remember, but we remember her. She remembers us and gives us life. Why cant we do that for her too? Azura leans on his sword, his forehead touching the end of the handle. He spoke, voice gruff with scars of war, She let me discover myself. We will discover her. Karma heard their words, and with thoughtful eyes, she scanned me again.

Your friends helped you.

Her voice now took a gentler tone, her eyes softer, quieter. She leans back, again thinking about what her judgment will be. I stand quietly, a lump stuck in my throat. All the bad things I done I do not remember all of them, unless it had to do with my friends here. I remember Zrais legs, lost because of me. I remember making her cry when she was just a Ralts. I remember losing Agnis for a while. I remember her having to suffer to save me. I remember Azura, being attacked by me when he was still evil. I saved Raen, but attacked her to have her for myself. Glario been attacked by Agnis, cause I wanted him to be mine.

I hurt all of them. And I feel regret, like a heavy stone weighing my stomach down. Karmas eyes turned on me again, her voice weaving a spell: They remember you and so shall you remain. However, of your own past, the one separate from them, they will be gone. Return to your life, with the gift of blood. Locks on memories, cast them now and only when youre worthy, will they fade.

With her tiny hands lifting high into the air, I see crackles of energy spreading above her, a tiny cloud collecting the power and growing larger by the second. All my companions start to stand up, their wings spreading far and wide, spanning the area. I am already standing. I feel the power of the energy cloud. Karma shouts, With the blood of the angels, your slate is cleaned. Youre back to zero. Youre back to nothing. Not good, not bad. And thus, will you return! The cloud burst, the energy rippling through the place. Jayde sidesteps in front of me, guarding me from the force. And it is why out of all the blood that I receive, I receive hers the most.

And in the end, with the source of life, I rebuild my body.

---

And I was back in the bed, awake.

Burnt.

Charcoal-like stumps of what had been fingers lay on the ground, slowly leading up to a blackened arm. His shoulder was still intact, pink skin with wet splashes of blood. His face, almost unrecognizable, was only detected as Dr. Hercules when his teeth was sent for verification. Officer Jenny scribbled down some notes as another officer looked over the body for clues. Shards of glass lay beside him, beads of crimson liquid dotting its surroundings. The junior officer, beside Officer Jenny, exclaimed, He was murdered by the damn glass, then burnt! Officer Jenny raised an eyebrow, the fingers on the clipboard tightening, but her mouth stayed shut. No comment should be made.

It was a grisly murder. Killed by fire, harmed by glass. Due to the presence of droplets of blood, there had to be the penetration of skin before the burning. Officer Jenny sighed. He was quite a famous doctor, skilled in his field of physiotherapy. She was looking at the body of Dr. Hercules.

Interviewing others revealed that the victim had actually been molesting sleeping patients. The security cameras show that the most recent victim of molestation was a girl, named Airlia Wang. And coincidently, she owned a Blaziken, one of the most powerful around. Fire had killed Dr. Hercules. Could it be for revenge? Officer Jenny stuck her tongue out as she scribbled REVENGE beside the Blazikens name: Agnis. However, was it intelligent enough to understand its actions? The security cameras in the room were somehow switched off when the murder took place. Could this be another clever move by the Blaziken?

She sighed. Should she take the Blaziken as a human or as a dumb Pokmon? It really depended on its intelligence. She will have to talk to it soon. The little Mime Jr. stumbled behind her as she walked. He could help translate their conversation. Everything was going quite fine

---

Agnis sat nervously in the Police station. Her talons were cuffed with a metal chain, but it was easy to break open. Still, she did not try to escape. She wanted to know why she was brought to this place. The room was quiet and shadows leapt from wall to wall. The only source of light fell from the tiny slit of glass on the door. It was covered and the light was shut out, blocked by a female officer as she entered the room. Her shadow was stretched and long. Agnis squirmed uncomfortably in her seat.

What have you got to say about yourself?

What do you mean?

The telepathic connection was formed. The little baby Psychic Pokmon was powerful enough to help that out. Officer Jenny scribbled some more notes: UNRESPONSIVE, before telling Agnis only one single detail: A doctor died. By fire. Agnis sat in her chair though, her blue eyes staring back at the female. What? What did that have to do with her? Officer Jenny watched as Agnis eyes turned away thoughtfully and she wrote: CONNECTION. Agnis then looked at her again and shrugged. The woman sighed and noted: NO REMORSE FOR CRIME.

What have you got to say about this?

Jenny lifted a charred needle. Gesturing to it, she said, This is evidence of usage of a fire attack in Airlias room. Do you deny using any pyro techniques within her room?

No.

Youre under arrest.

Agnis squawked, standing up furiously. This wasnt logical at all! So what if she used fire? She had to protect Airlia! She kicked the table, smashed it into bits and tore the cuffs apart. Throwing her head backwards, she gave another long howl before storming out of the place. Officer Jenny pulled out her long revolver and shouted a command: Stop. Agnis continued to run, her long legs pushing her forwards with insane speed. Jenny fired a few shots and dashed after the Blaziken.

Agnis felt the stinging pain of a tranquilizer shot and in a few moments, her vision turned blurred and confused. She turned. The exit. She darted.

Collapsed.

---

I awoke to see the glowing feathers bursting out from my body, refreshing my soul. They floated, keeping the dark room bright and comfortable. The light down stroked my cold skin. It was wet everywhere. I felt cold. Sitting up straight brought me pain but it was bearable. I tried to remember what happened. Vaguely, the images of a woman called Karma, and a few other winged friends came to mind. I didnt really remember what happened but I knew it was over. Looking around, I found myself hooked up on wires. In midst of pulling them out to make myself more comfortable, a blue glow seeped in.

Zrai.

She was crying. She falls, her spindly legs unable to support her any longer. Her hoarse voice could be heard; she said, Sorry. I smiled. I understood. I held her head in my arms, stroking her green hair. I missed her. I didnt know where Id been but it seemed like a long time. Her red eyes lifted up, staring back into mine. They were filled with tears. She said, Agnis is in trouble because of me.

I knew exactly what had happened. I whispered, Bring me to her. Ill save her. I got up, holding Zrais hand. She blinked. A flash of blue light, a swirl of feathers and we both disappeared.

---

Miss, you cant come in-

Oh yes, I can. I said to the guard. This was the Pokmon Jail, where Agnis had to be in. I need the keys.

No, Miss. You cant take my keys He paused, his leery eyes staring me up and down. Unless you give me some incentive. Maybe then-

He cradled his nose. His hands were bloody. I unclenched my fist, letting my fingers go free. Boy that felt good. The officer, with one hand on his broken nose, pulled out the keys and handed it over. I smiled. Zrai stood at the side, slowly erasing his memory of the incident.

Thanks.

The keys clinked as I opened the cell. Agnis was drowsy, but upon seeing me, she tried to get up. She collapsed. Her legs werent strong enough. I rushed to her side, helping her up. Her talon over my shoulder, slowly hobbling towards Zrai, who was deleting the mans memory. Quiet snoozing emitted from his mouth. I placed a note in his jacket and afterwards, Zrai used her remaining energy to send us somewhere safe, to the place where the rest were waiting for us.

---

Most of them looked tired, almost exhausted when I saw them.

Zrai looked spent. Her eyes were duller than usual. Her horns were strangely limp, and her legs looked weaker than ever. She breathed heavily, leaning against a tree. She used up all her energy in teleporting everyone back here. Slowly, I crawled up beside her and gave her a big hug, my voice quietly whispering, Thank you so much. She started to sob again, and my arms wrapped around her. I didnt know what she went through while I was away but it must have been really bad. Stroking her beautiful green hair, I made soothing sounds, spoke gentle words and wished her her strength back.

Letting her sleep on the soft grass, I walked towards a new Pokmon. She looked different but the feeling she gave me was the same. I whispered her name and she looked up at me. She looked haggard, not the fresh new Pokmon that I was familiar with. She gave a small smile and she said quietly, I evolved for you. I nodded, stroking her head, telling her that I knew. She laughed and nodded, her eyes closing again to sleep. Giving her head just one more ruffle, I muttered, Thank you so much. I couldnt do this without you. You have become someone so important to me; I dont know how I can live without you. You have grown so much, my baby. Tears started to fill my eyes but Jayde just laughed and, with her voice soft, she said, Mama, Im the one who owes you so much. I left her to her rest, wiping my tears away.

Azura stood solid, but in his eyes, I saw how tired he really was. However, he still looked up, like nothing was wrong. He gave a small smile. I thanked him, for keeping the balance, for helping our team out. Then, whispering, I told him, You dont have to keep that faade. You dont have to be strong. I kneeled and gave him a hug. Hearing him sob made me realize the intense amount of pressure he had been under. Choking, his low voice said, I missed you. I nodded and rubbed his back. As I left, I told him, Sleep. He gave a small laugh before making himself comfortable in the grass.

I saw him. Glario slithered up towards me. He apologized. And I apologized as well. He seemed surprised but I told him that I loved him so much, I just didnt realize it. He gave a low bow. I laughed and stroked his scales slowly. He got up again and chuckled. The patterns on his body seemed like intimidating now, and more welcoming. He pushed me toward a Pokmon that I wished to see.

Raen. Her face was still impassive. But when I lifted her up, swung her about and laughed, her faade broke into a big smile and an enormous amount of tears splashed. Her breath was caught by the wind, and we spun about for a moment. I missed her so much. Raen has grown from an immature brat of a princess, to the understanding Pokmon she is now. Of course, sometimes she liked to play tricks and was mischievous but they only made me amused. I brought her close to myself and she started to cry, her breath fast. She whispered, I missed you so much. So much. I love you so much. I nodded and hugged her really tight. I told her, I love love love love you so much. And now youre here and youre a big girl. Im happy. She laughed and nodded.

Agnis stood at the top of the cliff we were on. Her shorter tail feathers fluttered in the spring wind. The clouds rolled about, allowing the sunlight to falter and come back erratically. I put my hand on her shoulder. She turned about and gave a small smile. I smiled back and bowed slightly. She bowed too. There was a strange silence; but it was calming. There neednt be words to convey our feelings.

I grabbed her and pulled her forwards; I couldnt stand it. She was my first partner; and she loved me as much as I loved her. I embraced her and I remembered the last time I did it was when she evolved. She patted my head as my tears fell. It was a hard time; I shouldnt have fallen ill. I shouldnt have left them behind without me. Agnis rough contralto voice whispered, Its okay, its okay. Comforted, I pulled away and nodded thankfully. She smiled and brought me back to the others.

They would never see the tears.

Officer Jenny faced an empty jail and an incompetent officer. He covered his nose with his left hand and scratched his head with his right, while he said, I dont know how this happened. It just disappeared. Jenny had an urge to smack him in the face but controlled it. She commanded, Stand up, hands behind your back, officer! He did, and his nose was revealed. It was broken. She sighed and continued, Send him to the sick bay! The other officers nodded and led him away.

Wait!

He plucked out a piece of paper from his jacket, and shouted, I found this; Im not sure where I got it! Officer Jenny snatched it away and opened it. It read:

Dear Jenny,

Wait for the blood test results to come. If youre still convinced its Agnis fault, Ill bring her to you. Ill come to see how it goes.

ASW"

She looked at her watch; the blood test results were coming approximately in five hours time. She had to oblige.

---

Airlia was gone.

Dr. Pegasus searched, her heart beating wildly. This fact showed she had already healed and was awake; but where was she? Checking the security cameras, they showed how her Kirlia teleported her out from the hospital. Dr. Pegasus began to sweat, her palms now sticky. She called security, called the Police.

Apparently, Officer Jenny said that in five hours, Airlia would appear at the Police Station. Dr. Pegasus stood up to go to her jeep but before that she made a call to her parents; she wanted to let them know about how her patient, the first Pokrus-infected person, was already cured thanks to her. She picked up the phone and dialed their number

---

What does the blood test results show?

Officer Jenny grabbed the board and looked at the results. She could make no meaning of it. So she turned to the doctor and asked the question. The doctor pointed out that there was a mixture of two different bloods in the sample she gave him. She gasped as he told her the blood types. And there was something in common between the two bloods.

They both had a strange virus in them.

She had her doubts now. She wasnt certain, but just having a check with Dr Pegasus would clear her doubts.

And there she was.

Airlia brought Agnis in with her. Jenny nodded grimly, holding the results out. Airlia cocked her head to the side, her feathers trailing her shoulder. Jenny said, Evidence now points that she might not have murdered the man, but still it isnt enough to warrant her freedom. Please Airlia lifted her hand, shutting Jenny up. How insolent. Airlia said, her eyes showing that she knew, Wait. The automatic doors slid open, and Dr. Pegasus ran in, flustered, her hair all over her face, sticky with sweat.

The Pokrus she painted, It, it brings out so many powers. Officer, you know it made Airlia blast out cold air, to stop the virus from invading. You called me to explain the virus effects and Im here. There are so many things I can tell you, but they probably have to do with the case, right? Jenny nodded, and thinking about how the virus could have infected the man; but then, how could it? Placing a finger on her chin, she questioned, Could it, say, have different effects?

I was prepared that youd ask this question;-to this, Airlia merely smiled-so I prepared some papers. In Pokmon, Pokrus have different symptoms, some turn colder, some grow stiff at the joints, some become more tired than usual, and some, she breathed, grow hotter. In humans though, Airlia being the only example, the effects tend to be much more badly afflicted. Airlia fell into a coma, and created a whole blizzard.

So it is then possible to conjecture that a symptom could be of a temperature going so high, that a fire would be created? Jennys eyes glowed at the wonders of this virus. Airlia smirked knowingly.

Yes.

Jenny found all this unbelievable, and then again, she started to believe in this. Agnis didnt seem to know that Dr. Hercules had molested Airlia; and she apparently was in Mrs Norris possession in the Daycare. It was also impossible that a Blaziken, a dumb Pokmon, to be clever enough to switch off the security cameras. Could it be just another coincidence that the cameras were switched off? She didnt know what to say.

And blaming it on the Blaziken didnt explain the glass that was found on the ground. And why was Airlias and the victims blood both be found together in the room? Jenny didnt have the answers, but she again asked, Do you keep samples of Airlias blood? Dr Pegasus nodded, then she paused. Airlia looked a little shocked.

Yes, but some of them were stolen. Probably by some other doctor who wanted to steal my research. Dr. Pegasus scratched her head. Did Dr. Hercules steal them?

I have to make some checks before I set you and your Blaziken free. Officer Jenny turned to Airlia. Meanwhile, all three of you stay here. She moved into another room, where the records of the hospitals were.

---

Dr. Pegasus turned to Airlia, felt her forehead, grabbed her by the shoulders and said, "How are you?" Dr. Pegasus was happy that she seemed okay; her parents were really happy for her. She already written a whole research paper to be published in the prestigious Pokemon scientific magazine: Life Studies. And she was glad that she was going to be famous for this paper. It was all thanks to Airlia.

"I'm fine. Thank you for healing me."

Dr Pegasus shook her head. "It was my pleasure."

A strange silence befell them. Dr. Pegasus was happy that Airlia was safe and sound; she could leave her to go if she pleased. However, now, a strange thought came to her head. Dr. Pegasus had to make the decision on whether to even send the article in for publishing; would it be bad for its effects to be announced? She thought.

---

And yes, Dr. Hercules apparently entered the laboratory just two hours before his death. And yes, the security video was still on; Jenny saw him suspiciously sliding two canisters into his jacket before leaving. The viruses in his blood confirmed that he was suffering from Pokrus.

She went out to ask Dr. Pegasus a few more questions, like whether Dr. Hercules knew of the powers of Pokrus, whether he would have wanted to make use of it and others. To all of this, Dr. Pegasus nodded. She would have to make a few more checks with the rest of the head doctors but all of this satisfied her curiosity. She was sureno, she was very certain that the Blaziken had nothing to do with it. She turned to Airlia with an air of authority and said, You and your Blaziken are now tentatively free; however, we will have to call you in if we find anything else suspicious.

Airlia nodded, turned and left with Agnis.

Jenny sighed and leaned against the whole; so the whole case was basically a theft. Dr. Hercules stole the blood, broke the canisters by accident (or on purpose), got infected and died by a fire. The images were clear in her mind. Yes, she was convinced.

Nearby, a Kirlia weaved her magic on a womans mind.

---

I walked beside Agnis. We were free. Zrai came after and I thanked her. No problem, she whispered in my mind. Everything was over; I felt strengthened after that bout of illness. It was time for me to move on again. We walked towards the setting sun, the snow melting behind us, everything covered in a deep crimson glow.

---

A man stands in the corridors of a hospital, unseen, unheard. He cloaks himself with the magic of flames. He is Airlias father. He wants her powers for himself; to get them, was through the death of his daughter. But first, to get more magic than ever, he will have to kill her stepsister, Goldana. Through the link of blood, she will pass on her magic all to Airlia, since both her parents were dead. Then when Airlia dies, all her powers will be passed on to him since he was her blood father.

But here is a doctor who stole Airlias blood. With it inside him, he will gain magic. Powers that he cannot inherently control. So he is here to kill him. To make him return the magic back to Airlia. He sees the doctor inject the magic into his veins. He sees the magic spilling all over the floor, forming energy balls that returned to Airlia. He sees the magic that entered the doctor. He walks in, snapping his fingers so the security cameras were switched off. The doctor turns, shouts but he doesnt hear anything.

He was ablaze. The doctor rolls all over the floor. The glass breaks, pierces his skin. The man laughs. When the doctor dies, the man disappears with the magic of flames. Unseen, unheard. He is Airlias father.

The End

Notes

I started off happily, then halfway I thought my approach was totally wrong. I began to rewrite the whole thing rather unmotivated, then someone convinced me that this first draft wasn't that bad so I started again on it, motivation coming back. It dwindled again until now. I picked it up and finished, feeling accomplished.

On retrospect, I found some pieces of the tale contrived. It was a little too short I guess, for a tale as big as this. I don't know, I tried to keep things short but I guess that could always be improved on. Cheesy scenes again; I told myself I had to stop it but I think I slipped in one or two of them in the freeform.

I know I can do better. I'm going to try edit it; but I want a grade anyway. I hope someone would come do this freeform for my sakes (:

Thank you.

Reach for the stars, and you'll hit the roof.
Whew...

This was long... very much so. Perhaps... too much so?
I think so, with 17,498 words...

I won't go into detail about every little mistake, because that would take forever. But there were minor grammatical things that can be easily fixed, so I would worry about it.

In the beginning it was hard to read. I felt like the opening could have been alot better. It didn't have that clincher that automatically attracts the reader. But, it did get better as it went along.

I liked the detail. I think you put too much of it though. You could have accomplished what you were trying to get across in alot less words. In a few instances, I found myself thinking to myself "Didn't he explain that already?' Repitition is nice when you are trying to emphasize something, but it was a bit much here.

It was hard to read. My attention wandered quite a bit. I think its because of the whole "cheesy-ness", as you put it. It was like watching the cartoon in certain instances. I personally hate that kind of stuff.

The POV change was hard to follow, but I got used to it as I continued reading. The story itself, I think, could be a bit more exciting and/or interesting. I know you are capable of it though, because I have modded you quite a bit, and some of your threads kept my attention more than this.

All in all, I htnk it was an okay piece. You need to tone down a bit on some things like length and detail and goody-goody instances.

Now for the grade, which is all you probably want anyways.

-I am giving the okay on evolving Togetic. It was done nicely and neatly, so go for it.

Excuse me, is your refrigerator running?
Because if it is, it probably runs like you - very homosexually.
