"As you can see from the scoreboard, Victor Flame is leading by a massive 20 points! But can our newest challenger recover from the fault in the Assault match? He's got the crowd on his side, that's for sure."

The announcer spun around to face the oncoming stretch of lights in brilliant arays of colors to reflect from his stylish shades settled upon his nose. Stretching his arms high, holding one with the microphone close enough within range of his pleasing baritone words. Bending to do a flex in the direction of the man he previously spoke of; Victor Flame was a towering man garbed in a sweaty crimson guard similar to karate sparring gear. Within his hand was a large baton, made of PVC pipe. However, it was painted to look like a mighty knight's lance. At the end of each was a large mound of cushioned material used for battering opponent's most of the time. The lights fell around his powerful figure, a trickle of perspiration lining his beard. Waving to the crowd, he was able to arouse nearly half of them into a symphony of cheers.

"Up next, we've got the final match; the Joust! Our competitors will be suspended on top of this pedestal for thirty seconds! In that thirty seconds, they will need to defeat their opponent by removing him from the pedestal, sending him to the safety net below! But I assure you, my friends, NO ONE is safe from Victor Flame! Not even...."

Again the cameras and lights followed over to the opposite corner of the platform hoisted into the air of the arena. Suspended by only chains at the four corners, it was flimsy and frightening to the younger man. His gear was instead of a navy color, an unusual diamond emblazoned against the chest of the tight fitting sparring gear. He tried to stand confident, holding a baton of his very own firmly into his hands as to not drop it. Hair of a very unatural white. He had the bodice of a teenager; nothing towering and robust like the man in crimson at the other corner. Twirling the pugil stick briefly, he then stopped only to watch the wandering eyes of the unknowns in the stands. They were cheering for him, and his name hadn't even been announced.

"Our young challenger will need to go about defeating his opponent to gain the lead and win the title; a draw won't do it this time. Does this young man have what it takes to dethrone the Flame himself? He's about to show us; Shugo "Thunder" Getsufuhma!"
The aura of light surrounded him with the erruption of yells and applause. The feeling was incredible to know that he would finally be facing off against the champion, for the title and all. Gritting his teeth, he raised the staff and was ready to charge. Victory did the same.

"Now then ladies and gentlemen. Let's begin the final joust of American Gladiators!"

All went black before he could even move. It was a pure whipeout, that's for sure. Instead, his concious awoke from another dream. And not one nearly as lame as the previous; Celebi had delivered a message of hope within his mind as he slept peacefully within the Wellridge Inn. The promise of the saving of himself and the remainder of the people in the world was given to him. For being aloof to this "evil", it was alot to take in. Before he could even respond properly, the black returned, and slumber continued. No thoughts or dreams of the message read; just sleep.

"Only ten more points and I'll beat Vic-...." said the boy, still lost within his own dreams.

A familiar serpent sat upon the stomach of his trainer, with a very perplexed look about him. Quirking his eyebrows and tilting his head curiously, he watched as the boy talked in his own slumber until he awoke to see what had occured. But the sky was open today; he had stayed in the inn the previous night! Shugo jolted to his feet, giving a quick jerk of his hooded shirt to get a look at his bare sides. No scars! Thank goodness someone hadn't plundered any of his vital organs.

As he bolted, the Dragonair tumbled back into a sand dune, sloshing the material into the air covering the lad. Coughing the gritty taste away, he tilted his head to release what spit he could conjure. Hands whiped the stray grime from his clothing and his hair only to realize where he actually was. Eyes wandering over the area, he was speechless. The only thing he could recall other than his narrow victory at the hands of the man in flame, but the message that the green aura delivered to him amidst his slumber. "It's a new universe." Are you kidding? Shugo was still suspended in disbelief. Scratching his head as Onzi soared into the air to survey the area as well; he was just as lost as Shugo.

"Well.... a desert. This is a change. A sucky one." In a peturbed tone, he spoke before vibrations in his pocket sent a message for him to snap back into reality. He thought he was removing his PokeNav, only the device had changed completly. It looked much more functional than the previous model; instead it was a green. The screen lit with the avatar of a digital Celebi, smiling and waving to whomever happened to be watching.

"Hello, and welcome to the Opaddeka Region!"
"The what?"

There was no response from the device. Pressing a single button, it backed into a main menu function with the user's name atop it's screen. S-H-U-G-O. It was indeed his own belonging. Stretching his arms above his head, he pressed more buttons as he stumbled upon other functions: cellular phone, mp3 player, address books, the list continues. Kicking some sand idly away as Dragonair levitated near the boy, tilting it's head in the direction of the silouhette of a community. Quite a large one at that. Sighing heavily, his legs began to move, rejuvenated with the energy from the sleep. His destination was the image of the city before him.

"I'm not even going to take a guess.

Hands in pockets, Shugo's vision followed the female's prancing about in the familiar costume of a Meowth. There was something he recognized; how he wish he didn't. Avoiding eye contact completly with them, he continued down the streets of the city. Eyes wandered through the window of a nearby shop. Shelves were lined unfamiliar technology; items that looked like the traditional ball to capture pokemon were redesigned to have a completly new feel to them. People young and old examined the items within the shop, Shugo watching them. He was still completly in the dark as to where he was. All he knew was the name. A roll of the eyes, turning away from his own reflection to rest against the brick wall behind him. None of the faces were the least bit familiar, yet life continues to go on without his knowledge of anything going on.

Turning, he slammed his foot into the siding of the building, only to recoil it from the pain induced. He was confused, and that bred blind anger. Onzi seemed lost as well, curling up briefly near Shugo as he watched the vehicles speed by and stop appropriatly to allow others to walk amongst the cement streets. Closing his eyes to gain some footing as of what to do next. Let's see.... he said ALL trainers are now in this new... world thing! Maybe if I find someone, I can get some information from one of them. I can't be the only one like this, right?

"Duuude! That's a freaking Dragonair! Where in the world did you get THAT?"

Shugo's attention was brought to the slightly older boy, wearing a large baseball cap atop his head with an unfamiliar ensignia. His shirt also matched the color of the headgear, followed with khaki shorts and ordinary tennis shoes. The hair was long, and curled upward to create a bowl-like imprint to it. Light shadow was marked along his chin and above his upper lip; clearly he was older than Shugo. He reached down to stroke the mane of the very friendly Dragonair, whom lept at the opportunity to receive attention. Shugo's arms folded across his chest, a bit lost for words at the moment.

"Uh... I got 'im from.... Professor Willow... Trained him up from a Dratini. I've had him since I started..."
The man was enjoying the chance to finally see a Dragonair in person; obviously they were rare in this region. Curling into a fist, he grinded his knuckles into the skull of the serpent. With that, he gave a loud roar along with a cheer that you could only find at a packed sporting event. Was this guy going to chug alchohol and cheer for his college football team next? A little embarassed, Shugo only nodded as the man spoke, pratting on and on about the creature. Removing a few stray hairs from his vision, he decided he would take what he can get when it comes to information. Bending down to his knees, he spoke directly to the man.

"Say, I'm a little lost. Where exactly is this-.... I mean, what's the name of this city? I totally lost my map when I was crossing the-... uh... bridge... thing..."

The fratboy looked at me like I had a hole in my head. After a few seconds of appropriate awkward silence, he slammed a hand into my shoulder, patting it and laughing crazily. Standing up, he lifted the dragon onto his shoulders, almost looking like he was wearing him like some exotic accessory. Shugo tried to reach for the companion, but the man shifted his weight only to view the street signs above.

"I like you, kid! But yeah... Kevin Baconville... you must'a heard of it. Killer beachers, it's insane, man! But yeah, this little guy here is killer! You gotta show him off at the rings!"

"The what... exactly?"

"The rings, man! It's where everyone goes for battling and sparring! Lots of people there. He's a fighter, right? He's gotta be, he's built like an ox."

Was there any end to this guy? Shugo only shrugged and nodded at the comment of combat, opening the zipped hood and out poured to the two badges. Grinning from ear to ear, the boy was proud of his accomplishments in sanctioned arena. Finally, something to clear his mind. The world may've changed, but there was something he still knew well. Removing his right hand from his pocket, he extended it and shook the man's firmly to show appreciation for the compliments.

"Right, I'm Shugo. And that's Onzi... so, let's get to these rings."

As you and your new companion, along with Dragonair continued towards these arenas you only managed to cross the street before a deafening whistle echoed throughout your ears. Turning around there could be seen a young man walking towards you with his hands in his pockets. He was clearly the one who tried getting your attention because his lips were stretched in a broad smile. His filthy clothes were covered in sand and dirt, clearly this guy just came from the nearby desert.

Approaching he spoke casually, his voice mature yet somehow sly. "Nice lookin' dragon you've got there." Walking around you and your Pokemon he winked. "I'd bet the thing's pretty tough. Hell, I'm willing to bet a lot that it's really tough."

He looked at your surfer companion and grinned. "I didn't interrupt your date or nothin' did I?"

This kid didn't look like much but he seemed confident. Something about the gleam in his eyes and the way he held himself made him seem up to no good. Grinning, he found his little joke more ammusing than you probably did. Chuckling he raised his hands peacefully. "Joking asside, the name's Danny. Wondering if maybe you'd be interested in showing me what your worm can do in a real fight."

Looks like just having your Dragonair out was attracting more and more attention.

Shugo thought that the new approacher seemed as shady as they come. He did have a sincere smile, but was that anything to trust? Quirking a brow as he reached for a pokeball against the latches at his auburn belt's clasp, he raised it to eye level. A crimson stream withdrew the wyvern into the safety of the ball, only to be returned to the belt from which it came. It'd be better to keep him out of side for now and not draw any kind of negative attention to himself. He could go with the flow of the events for the moment and gain some ground and knowledge of the city.

Normally, he would've found the joke amusing, but he was still shell shocked from the transfer. For some odd reason, his body felt weak as he turned to face the approaching fanboy. Baring his teeth with a forced smile, he nodded and spoke. "Right out here, in the middle of the walkway?" His eyes drifted along the sidewalk which would curve around the corner passed a break wall to fence whatevers behind it from intruders. Street signs above him flashed for appropriate timing for crossing to avoid the oncoming traffic. Shugo nudged the obnoxious of the two city goers, the "fratboy" and aimed a finger at another nearby sign. The letters spoke of the arena, with a clear arrow giving direction passed the corner ahead. Nodding his head, the man adjusted the cap 'pon his head and began to break into a jog in that very same direction.

"Come on, dude! The rings await! Look, we can bring this kid along and then you and Onzi-dude can strut your stuff in front of the rest of 'em!" The man seemed too eager to pass up. Shugo only shrugged and raced behind the new companion, giving a wave of his hand to Danny. "I'm up for it, if you are. Let's get to a place more suited for a fight, yeah?" Not even a glance after that, and the fratboy was already running down the corner as he weaved through the waves of people going about their normal routines. With a panicked look, Shugo's leg moved and forced him into the ongoing traffic. Using his hands to create a narrow path through the maze, he was lost in the crowd as well as the other two whom were supposed to travel with him.

"Hey kid, watch it! You're not the only one in a hurry."

Shugo's weight shifted as a much larger man had brushed off his hand from his shoulder, recoiling him onto the street amidst heavy traffic. The bellowing horn of a local bus was wailing no sooner, forcing a shocked Shugo to leap over to the empty side of the street. Emblems of a Houndoom flashed by as the mighty carriage bolted by, only to have more cars intercept them to go in the direction of our heroic youth. Muttering a profanity, he doved to the left once again until he finally reached the safety of the less crowded sidewalk. Hands to his knees, the boy rested and tried to recover from the state of panic he just entered. Whiping some beads of sweat from his forehead, he raised up to seek his companions.

But, the streets were far too crowded. They had vanished in the sea of beings on the other side of the street. Another profanity muttered. Shugo raced to the nearest crossing and waited for the light to turn green; he wasn't going to risk it with four-lane Frogger. Returning to the other side, he watched from the crimson brick walling to try and seek out either of the two boys. Travelling to the opposite end of the street corner, he followed the direction of the sign he found earlier. Maybe they had already gone to the Fighting Rings, and he could find them there.

A few more blocks passed, and Shugo arrived calmly to a scene set much like a playground. Instead, the park-like environment was divided up into snack stands and many arenas marked by white rectangles with sand consisting of the turf. Kids enjoyed themselves watching opponents duke it out for bragging rights and enjoyment. A quick survey of the area showed no signs of Danny or the other. Groaning, he rubbed his temple briefly. Following the walkways entering within the rings, he thought maybe he could mingle around the nearest snack stand and listen in to some conversations.

"I was wondering what was taking you" Came Dannys voice from one of the entances to the rings, his head tilted back so his voice would carry over the milling crowd. "In here" He said before turning and walking through the walkway and into the arena... His footsteps were long strides, as he carried himself down to the battle ground.

He then turned and crossed his arms across his chest as he waited for Shugo to follow him... His eyes watching as the trainer approached. "I like a challenge, but I don't really want to waste time.... So I offer you a simple challenge" He said, holding out his hand, three fingers extended. "Three pokemon will be used.. The first to have all his pokemon faint, loses. Got it?" He asks with a grin.

Shugo hadn't just settled down on a wooden bar stool at the counter of one of the shops nearby before the voice of the previous challenger expanded over the crowd behind him. Standing on the tips of his toes, narrowing his vision in order to try and find something to signify where Danny was headed. A hand waving in the in his direction was enough to give Shugo guidance. Arising, he once again weaved through the heavy amount of trainers and spectators alike before travelling through the silver archway a few meters north. Placing his hands on his knees to rest, the youth rested himself before speaking up, the look on his face showing his annoyance.

"You kinda just ditched me out there, huh?
"Sorry kid, thought you were from around here..."
"Nah... I just got in today. I'm a bit lost..."

Shugo stretched a bit as Danny filled him on the challenge before him. Maybe it would help to calm his nerves. Making it only a three on three would spare him some time and give him a chance to unwind. A smirk enveloped on him, giving a firm nod. Danny's finger pointed to the box at the left end of the field, only to have Shugo walk over to the right side's appropriate box. The battlefield was coated in sand, outlined in the white material usually used on soccer and baseball fields. Any arena was fine, afterall.

"Now... which three to use..." Shugo shuffled around his belt to the first ball. Onzi; of course, he was the one who attracted all of this attention. The second contained Droude, but Shugo decided against him. Then moving on to Cesare, the decisions became alot more difficult. He didn't even know what he was up against. He could make those decisions at a later time. His thumb jolted forward, snapping the fourth sphere into the air. The white light streamed down to the ground, releasing the red image of a flame growing. Eventually, the burning cackle and retracted to reveal the outline of a Magmar.

"Peregrine is my first selection. So, what's yours?"

"What, no dragon? Pfft, I'll just have to force ya to use 'im by knocking out the rest of your pokemon! This'll be a good warm up!"

The trainer shifted himself in the sand, taking a very vicious and offensive pose, almost like he was going to be in the battle himself. He wasn't known for being one of the toughest trainers in the area for nothing. Whipping a pokeball from his belt, he threw it high in to the air, yelling, "Butch, c'mon out!" From within the pokeball emerged a rock type pokemon, a geodude, which hovered above the sandy battlefield. Though being a basic unevolved pokemon, it looked tough. Real tough, just like its master. Danny smiled and raised a side of his lip.

“Whatcha waiting for? I got the home field advantage, might as well give you a fighting chance. Not that it’ll matter much.”

Shugo's right heel was already dug into the sands below, creating a dip in the flooring for a comfortable, yet confident stance. His eyes laid focus to the levitating rock formation, it's arms robust as they flexed in order to frighten his own assistant. No facial expression what so ever, instead of a snap with his index and thumb to deliver the sound wave appropriate to call his Magmar's attention.

"Peregrine. Please, start us off with a Confuse Ray."

The pupils of the monster dilated, only to flare with an odd color of violet. The hue became much brighter, bursting into the optical color only used for hypnotism purposes. The Magmar growled, only to have the embers around it's body gain the color of orange and erupted. This became a flashy kind of body armor; it had no added defense, but only to show off his own confidence. Shugo would allow the beast to do the talking for him.

Intensifying the glare from it's eyes, the Magmar focused into the eyes of the Geodude, forcing the afterimage of some sort of mind-control rays that lunged forward in an attempt to dive within the rock's mind and force it upon itself.

“Heh, hoping for confusion to work? Nice try! Rock throw!”

The Geodude quickly dropped down to the ground, its hands smashing in to the sandy ground. A rattle was heard from underneath as it drew up its arms, a rock in either one. The Geodude smiled confidently as it spun around, both rocks chucked at huge speeds towards the Magmar. Just as the rocks were thrown, the confuse ray hit the rock pokemon. Its mind was fried, causing it to drop to the ground, holding its head, trying to focus in the spinning world that had become it’s mind. However, the two rocks hit their mark, slamming in to the fire type and doing major damage as it was sent flying back in to the sand. Danny recoiled at this, seeing that his plans had not worked as well as he had thought. Shaking his head, his hands soon became clenched as he screamed out at his own pokemon.

“SNAP OUT OF IT!”

Watching the twin boulders form within the masculine fingertips of the Geodude, releasing them from it's grasp as they bombarded the flaming mass of the Magmar. However, the glazed look within the eyes of the rock beast signified that it's body was no longer under it's own control. A purple haze drifted around it's head, soon formulating the transparent images of stars as they danced around it's skull. The Geodude obviously became entralled with the spectacular display, as he fell under the effect on the confusion.

The Magmar was knocked to the ground with the flames around it's body becoming dim. Growling, it made it's way to it's feet. Shugo nodded in the direction of his comrade, knowing that getting passed it's defenses would be much easier now.

"You're open. Go for it."

Magmar's right fist was hoisted to it's hip, as the creature awaited for enough heat to build. Surging around the fist was a layer of thick flames. It grew larger each moment. Finally, after seeing the place of attack, the Magmar launched into a sprint, hurling his fist. It streamed brilliantly forward, the flames creating crimson ribbons behind it's path.

All Danny could do was watch the Magmar come up on his precious and powerful Geodude, the flaming fists connecting with the rock pokemon and sending it a few inches back from the point of impact. However, the fact of the matter was still that the Geodude had an advantage over the fire type, in both resistance and in offense. And this rock pokemon felt the burn, but not enough to really phase it all that much. Danny laughed, saying, “What, all you got is fire type moves? It’ll take more than that to put Butch out of this!” However, the fact of the matter was that though Geodude hadn’t been hurt much by the fire, it was more of a danger to itself than anything else at this point.

“Alright Butch! Hit it with another Rock throw!” Danny screamed out. It had been his original plan to use Roll Out to trounce any pokemon he had and then do serious damage to the next one, but even the most amateur of trainers knew that using Rollout while either confused or paralyzed was an enormous gamble, and the full effect of rollout probably wouldn’t be reached. So, he was going for the old fashioned way of winning. The Geodude nodded and then slowly rose in to the air, scooping down in to the ground to grab two huge rocks again. However, confused, it found two handfuls of sand and upon throwing them found out why confusion was a really bad thing. Geodude used a really bad Sand attack which didn’t even reach the eyes of its opponent. Not that it could use it normally anyway, so ya.

Shugo had made quite the mistake with selecting a fire punch; even directly, the flames would have any effect on the chizzled body of the rock. He would have to be a bit more indirect for this to work. Magmar could still see the haze around his opponent, clouding his vision and his proper judgement. Danny's movements showed he was becoming frustrated with Shugo's luck, and that's all that the last turn even was. A bead a sweat ran down his forehead, only to be whiped away. Clearing his throat, he spoke again.

"A minor mistep. Smog."

Peregrine's eyes gained a purple haze to them, as it's chest grew larger and his stomach retracted into it's body. It was taking a very deep breath. Finally, it released in a violet exhale as the toxic gases flooded the nearby arena. Shugo raised his jacket's collar to guard his own mouth, shielding his face with his right hand. The poison would attempt to cloud the Geodude's vision, and deal damage through it's toxins that were flooding the area.

Your random pokémon trainer
Your attack, while nothing more than a tickle to the Geodude, snapped it out of its confused state, a glare coming to its eyes. "Geodude!" It slammed its hard fists into the ground as it waited for orders to come in.

"Ok Butch, finish that Magmar with a Rock Throw!" Danny gave you a smirk as he shouted his orders before nearly hacking up his left lunge. He had to cover his mouth before he passed out from the vile attack that your fire type had just used.

With his orders intact, Butch summoned a large boulder in both hands, a smile crossing his rocky features. As the boulder struck your Magmar, the fire type fell to the ground, knocked out. Seems this kid will be sort of hard to defeat.

The flames had finally dimmed, the mass falling to the sand below. The dirty material followed with the final extinguish of his companion. It's open mouth releasing a flame with a low pitched howl, finally dropping to the ground in defeat. A single mistep beforehand could cost him this entire match. Shugo was becoming a bit nervous, with his right hand twitching within his pocket the moment that the boulders managed to land upon his Magmar.

Recalling his faithful friend to the safety of his ball to recover, he processed what had happened. "If he's going to use Rock Throw, I'll need something quick. The smog won't help it's aim with the rocks though." Shuffling around his belt by the tips of his fingers, he came across the third ball. Blinking, he pressed the sphere to release pressure, the lights once again appearing. Charging to the ground, it revealed the structure of a blossoming plant above the body of a four-legged beast. A deep green hue to it's skin, fangs dipping over the cover of it's lips. Lowly growling, the Ivysaur stood in position for battle.

"Cesare. Stay on alert, we'll need to create some protection for you."

A firm nod came from the beast. A triad of vines crawled from the bulb 'pon it's back, slowly lingering above them before twisting. Sent into a spiral, they dove into the ground. Slowly, more vines began to sprout than original conjured. Creating a cage around it's body, the vines slowly arose. The sharp bramble were as deadly as it's fangs. If used correctly, the beast would use the vines to grow a protective barrier around it's body purely of thorns.

"Whats with all the second stringers? I want the real show! Oh well. You'll have to use that dragon of yours sooner or later." Danny said as he threw his arm out to the side. "Butch. Lets show this guy a little 'ROCK' and roll. Rock Cart. Then hit him" He called out.

Immediately the geodude curled up into a ball, spinning some and then begining to fire off forward, at first looking like he was going straight towards the Ivysaur before suddenly veering off course, begining to circle around it, making aiming for it harder as it began to build up speed.

Brushing a few stray folicles from his face, he watched as the speeding boulder gained momentum rather quickly. It's pathway travelled around the Ivysaur's bramble prison, promising it's destruction with the following attack from the weight of it's body. Combine the massive boulder with the speed of an avalanche, and it simply spells disaster. But Shugo didn't flinch at all; the stern look on his face was almost comical. He took it so seriously; poor kid. Of course Danny wanted the dragon, but he didn't want to bring him out just yet. Where's the fun in that?

Shugo knelt below to his knees in the arena's trainer box. He punctured the sand below with his index finger, and drove as far as he could. Surprisingly, it wasn't compact and was able to be divided effortlessly. He knew that the boulder was moving too quickly to be hit by a physical attack at all; he'd have to find a way around it. Raising his voice over the muttering of the crowd around him, he spoke to the silent Ivysaur.

"Okay Cesare, he's moving way too fast. The sand isn't thick or compact at all, you can move through it. Use Sleep Powder!"

Cesare's vines had already grown into the arena around him, and with some lucky, he could use the expansion he gained from the growth in the ground to further extend the range of the sleep powder, and attack without getting close. The pollen didn't flourish from his bulb, but instead from the bulbs sprouting on the cage of vines around him. Spines of brush were expanding, and the haze expanded from them around the arena. With luck, it'd be able to reach the Geodude in time to knock it out cold before he was attacked.

“Eh?! What?” Danny said, but it was too late to say anything else. The rock quickly and sharply changed directions, turning on the plant pokemon in a second and started to roll right towards it at incredible speeds. Truthfully there was nothing Ivysaur could do against the impending tackle as it was struck hard and sent flying back, the vines grown around it ripped from the fine sand with ease. As good as Shugo’s strategy was, in a sense it backfired since the rock had speed and the grounding the pokemon had hoped for was too soft to be used as grounding. However, as soon as it landed, it prepared itself. It knew that it had to listen to Shugo and if it didn’t, the battle was lost. The codependence of pokemon and trainer was a very fine balance that it wanted to keep.

So, in a flash the vines, already erupted from its body hit the sandy soil, tunneling under, the small rivets easily telling where they were. And, they slowly circled around the still moving Geodude, the Ivysaur watching carefully. And then, just as it was the right time, the small vines erupted, the small bulbs exploding in a mist of pink and green powder that shimmered in the hot air, flowing all over the Geodude. It seemed to still be moving though. At least until it started to slow down, gradually from its roll and ended up with a final slump, totally zonked. Danny just stared at his Geodude which had gone from confused to asleep in only a few seconds. "Butch? Butch?! BUTCH WAKE UP!" was all he could scream before he looked up darkly at his opponent.

Shugo watched the beast was torn from the weak holding in the sand; it wasn't thick enough to keep the brace of the thorns within the ground. Spiralling in the air, Cesare detached the growth from his bulb and released it to the ground. Landing outside the white chalk with a thud, Cesare landed and spread the violet haze in the direction of the still speeding the boulder. It's eyes became glazed over, tumbled off to the side. It's arms extended and caught the sand, sending it into a break against the ground. Out cold, just as he had hoped.

Danny was struck speechless, his jaw had dropped completly at the act of his Geodude finally being stopped. Even though he didn't want it, Cesare got the attention he deserved. Firmly placing it's paws against the ground, he growled. Sharp blades of foilage bolted from the plant above Cesare's back. A hiss of the blades signified what was going to happen. Launching them at high speeds, the leaves chased towards the still stunned rock creature, intent on slicing it to bits.

"Onzi isn't the only one who deserves attention from this place."

Much like how Magmar was defeated, Geodude was also taken down thanks to the efforts of Razor Leaf and Ivysaur (gaining it 1 :exp in the process).

'Well well, I guess you aren't without some skill there boyo. No matter, let's see how you like this!' The arrognat guy returned his fallen pokemon, and in turn, released a replacement. With a dim light, a Numel appeared. Usually slow and unenthusiastic in battle, this particular hybrid was energetic. 'Lets go Fritz, use Amnesia and Smoke Erupt!'

Numel began to glow slightly, using its Amnesia technique. It didn't last long, and soon the ground around the battle begun shaking... Numel was erupting.

Ivysaur didn't tremble, but instead stood it's ground. The mind was clear for the Numel, it's brain unlocking new levels of mental stability that were unheard of. It braced with the Amnesia, and shook the ground with a single stomp of it's right front hoof. The ground shattered, creating a chasm below. Shugo thought quickly before lashing out for the same pokeball that had sent Cesare into the heat of combat. The red stream snatched it away, placing it into the safe haven near it's partner. His thumb pushed against the first ball, only to force another pokemon into combat.

The light formed into a lengthy serpent, which released a howl upon it's summoning. The twin orbs on it's tail glimmered in the bright sun before it's colorization finished, reveal the same Dragonair he had been waiting for.

'Cesare wouldn't have been able to take that very well....'

As Fritz continued on with its Attack, its opponent changed. Danny was a bit mad at the switch, as he saw Ivysaur being defeated in his mind. But, the appearance of the rare dragon made that angry feeling vanish. Smoke Erupt continued to do its thing, but with Onzi being a dragon and all, not much was done, other than a mere welcome to the battle.

'Whattsa matter? My small little Numel scare your Ivysaur? Hahaha!' Mister Vito was an arrogant ass, but he had managed to accomplish his goal. Dragonair was in the battle, and now things would pick up.

'Fritz, let's get this thing going! Use another Amnesia, then wait for your chance. When you see an opening, use your Land Power!' Danny knew his opponent well. Most dragon pokemon use special attacks, and Numel was best suited for the task.

Shugo's eyes could still see the extreme concentration that had fallen upon the Numel. But Danny didn't seem to flinch at the change. Quirking a brow oddly, he knew that the attack didn't effect Onzi too much at all. Merely shaking it off, the serpent remained airborne as he looked over his shoulder to await a command. Shugo's index and thumb stroked his chin, hearing the words "LAND POWER" spoken.

"What is Land Power? Never heard of it..."

One could assume it was a ground type attack because of it's name. Snapping his fingers, he shouted to the dragon. "Use Agility to speed things up, and then follow up with a Tackle from the air!" Becoming a blur to the naked eye, it's weight shifted and Onzi obtained a new caliber of speed. Increasing it's velocity, it launched from the air and bolted downward, attempting to strike the Numel and receed into the air once again. If he could remain airborne, it would have a tough time making contact.

Danny stood with a clenched fist, his face calm as he saw the sinuous pokemon pick up speed as it wound towards his numel, charging closer and closer... Nothing happened as the dragon type drew closer and closer .

"FRITZ! Dodge it!" Danny shouted out at the last second, his eyes shooting wide as the numels body tensed and suddenly jumped to the side as the dragonite came in at it, causing the dragon-type pokemon to miss. The moment the numel struck the ground, it sent a shockwave that caused the sand to ripple like a tidal wave, kicking up the ground and suddenly striking the dragon which had lowered itself to hit the shorter pokemon.

"Excellent!! Now, Amnesia once again... Then Land Power!' He issued out his commands.

The after-image of the Dragonair blurred downward, spiralling with the visible force of the sound barrier creating a barrier around it's skull. Attempting to swipe, it's body soared into the air once again. The Numel had simply side-stepped and counter-acted with this new Land Power attack. Onzi panted as it waited in the skies above, trying to regain it's breath as it's body was built to attain the increase in speed it was gaining.

Shugo's right foot had dug further and further into the sands with the tension mounting for each moment in the battle. Nearly slipping, he regained it and folded his arms across his chest. Gaze lowered, he dove into his own mind for a brief moment to think.

It won't be able to keep up with Onzi's speed if he keeps increasing it. The dive bomb tactic isn't going to work out too well. Nothing around me to use.... except for a bunch of sand.... But when sand is combined with a liquid!

Shugo snapped back into the battle's mindset, this time with a grin to his face. Snapping his fingers again, he called for his companion's attention. Onzi was still catching it's breath but listened intently as the new commands were given.

"Onzi, use Agility again, and this time use Blizzard! Cover the entire field in ice!" The oval shaped nose on the dragon changed to a deep blue color, an aura surrounding it. The clouds above shifted and the field became dark. Few flakes of snow could be seen as they floated downward. Soon it became heavier, only it began to rain in pikes of ice. They weren't large, but thin enough to come down and hopefully coat the field with it. Perhaps it could deal some damage to the Numel as well.

If I can get the Numel to melt the ice, then the liquid and sand will mix.

Onzi danced as it conjured the tempest, in hopes that the Numel would actually get angry enough to use a fire-oriented technique once the snow had settled. He also seemed ready with the new found speed, in hopes that the Numel wouldn't even be able to hit him while he prepared.

"Fritz! Dig in and use Amnesia and Focus Energy!"

From above your Dragonair's horn began to glow a chilling blue. The aura matched the type of the attacks for suddenly a gale of icy winds blew down from what could have been mistakened as the the heavens. The blizzard of ice pummeled the ground below, not only hitting Numel, the stationary Pokemon, but also the entire field. When the dragon's onslaught ended it glared down to see the entire area covered in a thick sheet of ice.

Numel shook its bulky body, the ice and snow falling from it as he glanced about, apparently forgetting everything that was going on. Then, a moment later its eyes trained themselves on Dragonair and it concentrated, focusing all of its might to ensure the next attack would prove even greater.

With all of these increases to its strength, any special attack coming next would do considerable damage despite any resistances your dragon may have. Danny knew this and was expecting this match to end relatively soon.

The Numel had attained a new state of mind; blocking out all other senses simply to be able to focus on it's next assault. Raising it's mind's stability and it's focus for the attack, the Numel would deal considerable damage with the next round. Onzi had done well with the coating of the field, but it would take another step for the plan's actions to work correctly.

Shugo stepped out of the rectangular sand for his own safety, brushing his palms together for warmth. The previous blizzard had lowered the temprature of the area significantly.

The Dragonair danced within the skies, a mocking display as it twisted and bounded from left to right. Noise echoing from it's nose indicating it was laughing at it's opponent. None of the humans could understand the conversation taking place, but Onzi was attempting to taunt the Numel into a flaming attack. It could be interpreted as something similar to this.

"You're pathetic! What kind of Fire pokemon can't even touch me with it's flames? You must be pitiful to think you could even touch me."

Onzi lowered itself to the ground below, still continuing to try and put the beast to shame as Shugo patiently awaited to see if the result would be successful. Wagging it's great tail to and fro, Onzi kept on with the display. Danny seemed very confused by it's actions. Shugo's eyes closed, open palms clutching around his arms for warmth.

"Here, I'll give you a fighting chance. Go on and hit me with what you've got, I'll sit right here. If you can even make enough fire to reach me from over here!"

The serpent was raising it's agility once again, to a level beyond what was even considered before. If timed properly, and if the Numel gave in, Onzi could hopefully evade the attack in time. Setting into motion, the beast twirled vibrantly. A vortex began to surround the blue blur, the speed at which it moved now beyond what could be seen by the naked eye. Creating a twister, it hoped to protect itself incase it was hit. It could deal some damage, as well as spread the flames through the tornado if the Numel would fall for the trick.

When water and sand combine, it becomes thick. In fact, it becomes quicksand. If the ice melted, it would become water.

Your random pokémon trainer
((Just a note... raising one's special defense will do /nothing/ to raise damage...))

"Don't fall for any of their tricks Fritz!" This trainer and dragon must have thought them dumb... everyone knows that fire only does half its damage against a dragon type...

"Use that twister against them!" Danny pointed at their foe as it used its speed to act first, a massive tornado forming around the dragon. It was in that instant that Fritz's eyes began to glow, and the sand beneath the Dragonair started to shift.

Then, in the blink of and eye, the attack hit... a fierce column of sand erupting from the earth right into the heart of the twister. It was inside this twister that the sand began to pick up power, the constant turning and grinding was doing more and more damage. But then, unable to bear the weight of the ever increasing sand, the twister just... stopped.

And although she was at her maximum speed, Onzi was hurting, he indirected methods having failed her. Why taunt something too dim witted to understand your insults?

Shrugging his shoulders, he snapped his index and thumb together. The sound split the crowd until Onzi's gaze drifted from the Numel over to it's trainer. Tilting his head to the left as though a confused canine would, he waited. Shugo shot his thumb outward over his shoulder, clearly wanting him to take a break. Onzi's speed caused it to blur from the airfield, down next to Shugo outside of the platform. Tapping the third ball on his belt, the similar light show caused Cesare to return to the field.

Cesare's feet plopped down onto the icy field below. Eye-level raising, it connected with the appearance of a Numel; a fire type pokemon. Turning about face, the Ivysaur had a look of horror. Would his trainer be that stupid to bring out a grass type against a fire type? Shugo could only nod, again folding his arms against his chest.

It would take some time before Ivysaur would be able to act, but it was clear what he wished to happen. Onzi would have to sacrifice his speed, but when time permitted, the bulb would begin to draw in sunlight. The storm had dissipated, breaking sunlight through the clouds to return the park to it's normal state. The bulb would even begin to blossom with time.

"Just trust me here. It might not work.... but ah well. It's more fun to try, right?"

Cesare sighed; he didn't agree.

Ceasare only sighed once again as the nourishing sunlight came out to feed the Grass/Poison hybrid, the sigh more of pleasure than of annoyance at having been sent out to face the Fire-camel. If his looks could kill, his Trainer would be in his grave right now...with few key parts missing to ensure that the genes could never be passed on.

IF you couldn't guess, the strong hatred for Fire-types was felt for his kind.

The flower on his back bulged slightly, threatening to blossom in a manner similar to Venusaur, but only slightly. A soothing look of peace came over his face...before a fine grey dust similar in consistency to ash blew past his face, courtesy of the Numel's...humps. Yes, his humps, his lovely, flame-spouting lumps.

Sighed dejectedly, and slapped his right palm against his forehead, dragging it down across his facial features before releasing. The only thing that remained was a look of amazement, but not in a good way. Shugo crouched to the ground and coughed. Cesare watched the trainer until the lad finally raised his head to the skies, eyes closed but mouth wide open to yell.

"How can it be so stupid?!? I mean, if that didn't do it for it, then I'll have to do it myself!"

Grumbling, he threw his backpack to the ground. Going for the left pocket on the side, his hand dove within and searched before he pulled out a package containing an odd yellow crystal. Ripping the plastic from it, sunlight reflected from the seeming bauble brilliantly. Taking it to the fourth ball on his belt, the light extended into the ball's silver release. Within, it's magic was beginning to work over for the fallen Magmar.

Shugo hopefully watched the ball become a bright yellow, the crystal crumbling piece by piece as energy was flowing from it to the sphere. Cesare observed as well, it's bulb blossomed to a mature state, raising it's connection to nature. But the focus of this turn was of the revival of Peregrine.

"Alright Fitz! let it all out! Smoke Erupt!!" Danny called out as his Numel looked up, its eyes widening as small flames could be seen flickering in its eyes, long black columns of smoke begining to pour out of its nostrils as it built up fiery energy.

Suddenly, its entire head lunged forward, mouth opening widely as he released a powerful stream black smoke forward, it was charged with red hot embers and was as fiery as any stream of flames as it engulfed the ivysaur, starting to catch fire to the edges of its leaves and coating it in the black clinging soot, blocking out all sight and access to the sun within its cover.

Shugo's body was shielded by his arms, braced over his face and upper body in the shape of an X. Cesare wasn't so lucky, being singed and the sunlight being blocked by all of the smoke and grim that was now filling the air. The Ivysaur's breathing was very heavy, and it's bulb had reverted back to it's immature state as normal. Coughing could be heard, but nothing could be seen because of the smoke within the arena. However, the outskirts said otherwise.

The ice was completly melted and turned into it's liquid state. Seeping into the ground rather quickly, the uncondensed sand was now shuffling with the water. Becoming much darker and of a deeper brown, it was now thick and grimy. The youth grasped the pokeball, a red beam streaming into the smoke to grasp the weakened plant. Safe in the ball, Onzi awaited to battle once again outside of the arena.

Approaching the break from the white chalk with grass and the sand, Shugo dove his hand near the wet substance. Indeed, he could feel the weight of his body pull on it lightly. Jerking away before it could grasp any further, his strategy had worked properly. The arena was now turned into quicksand from the melted ice merging with sand. The Numel should be so aloof to what was occuring that he wouldn't even realize he was sinking.

((Yeah, so…it would, like, help immensely just to post some sort of current standing of the situation somewheres. Like how many Pokemon are left, terms of battle, etc. Especially the area. Since I’ve no willingness to actually go back two pages and check, I’ll just take your word for it for the quicksand thing, but I want it written down in the future. *whips*))

“What the-,” Danny moves back, pulling his foot from the sand that had just a second ago tried to pull him in. His foot was now generously coated in cold, damp sand, and trying to see through the smoke and grit aftermath of the attack his fire Pokemon performed, could only make out the yellow hide of his treasured Pokemon. Since he could still see him, he assumed he was okay, and proceeded to order, “Fritz, Land Power now!”

Meanwhile, the fire/ground type didn’t seem in the least bit bothered of its current predicament as the sands swallowed inch by inch of its form. A brief glow seemed to emanate from its form, and the sands began shifted before it, a path being plowed through the sodden ground towards the grand dragon creature curled elegantly before it. Waiting serenly, it took the brunt of the attack full force, suffering a chip in its defenses as hard mud and sand pelted it. In any event, it was sinking as well, so the attack also helped to loosen the earth beneath it, slowly enveloping the dragon’s long form.

Shugo turned away briefly, only to pace briefly as he saw the sinking was having minimal effect on the Numel, the complete opposite of what he thought would actually occur. It just sat there, it's eyes glowing fiercly, deconstructing the terrain in such a way to command a whirlwind of sand to launch. Onzi was also beginning to sink, but the attack that had hit him did loosen the quicksand's constriction around him.

Grumbling below his breath, the boy had become frustrated. Taking a few heavy breaths, the images of white numbering appeared over his head as he counted silently to himself. "One..." The number flickered in a static fashion and faded. This time, it was replaced with another. "Two...." and finally, the final number appeared and he sighed with relief. "Three."

Pivotting on his right heel, Shugo's right arm heaved his jacket from it and to the brick walls a few feet away from the arena. 'Getting angry never does me any good... just like in Wellridge.' Swallowing his pride, he cupped around his open mouth, raising his tone of voice to call out to the sinking companion.

"Land Power knocked the sand around. Quick, use Agility to break out of it, and stay airborne if you can!" Onzi's body faded, only to leave ribbons of grime erupting from the remainder of where it sat. Enveloping over the opening, the serpent tried to break free from it's grasp. If so, it would toss it's head to the side, cleansing it's navy coat of scales from whatever discoloration was still present.

"It's slow anyway, and this won't help it. Move around it, it's not going to be able to keep up with you! When you get the chance, dive bomb it!"

The Rocket That Burns The Heavans Red
Danny hmmmed as he watched the dragonair free itself from the sand, he hadn't expected these turns of events, but he wasn't going to worry himself with it... He and his pokemon had battled the harshness of the desert and its shifting sands before, and a little sinking mud wasn't going to slow them down.

His eyes glinted some as he heard his opponents commands. "Don't move. Let that thing come in at you, and when it gets close, use land power again!" Danny gave the command.

His numel nodded as it tried to spread its legs, stabelizing itself and slowing down its movement in the mud as its eyes stared up to watch the Dragonair as it sped itself up yet again then came down at it.

As the Dragonair neared, the numels body glowed as it released i ts power, kicking up the earth around it to strike at the dragonair infront of it, forcing the dragontype to pummel itself as it burst through the attack and struck the numel, sending the fire pokemon flying back.

Onzi's elegant length tore from the sands that attempted to draw both creatures under. However, the Numel didn't have to make any efforts to keep itself from it, obviously it was used to these conditions. Focusing it's stance to keep for good reaction time against the invading Dragonair, the ground creature only attacked when his opponent was in range. Onzi retracted and coughed heavily, most of it's stamina being drained already from the previous clashes. Shugo's concern fell to his partner, eyes becoming less angry but more affectionate.

The serpent's balance was falling as it drifted lower to the ground, pace of breathing already to an unsafe level. Inhaling, the beast snapped it's head backwards. He wasn't ready to quit. Onzi would again attempt to raise it's speed, and knew it would have to attack from a distance once again. Shugo's thumb and index finger ran together with an interrupting snap.

"Scratch that! He's just going to attack if you get close enough, he's playing a defensive strategy...."

Shugo's spoken words drifted to silence in his own mind.

'There's got to be a way to keep Onzi safe and finish off this thing. If he's only going to use Land Power when we get near, then we need something to keep us from it."

The bulb set dead center against Onzi's face glowed. Ominous shadow clouds loomed over the skies near the Fighting Rings once again, the glowing aura around the figure in the sky causing shards of large hail and tempest to rain down. In a wide display, ice cascaded downward in an attempt to batter the Numel into the mud once again. It was still airborne, so it would have no way to dodge.

"Hmph...alright, even though you're still in the air...you can still attack! Use Heatwave to melt all the ice that comes your way Fritz!" Gerard ordered as he looked on without even a hint of worry on his face. He knew that the two attacks would hardly do any damage to either pokemon but there was still a chance that he may burn the dragon.

As the shards of ice began to pour downward towards the fire type, it began to glow a reddish color and then wave after wave of hot air began to shoot out from the small numb pokemon, melting almost every single shard that approached. As for the few that did manage to make it, they hardly did any damage at all to the FIRE type. Finally he landed on the ground and awaited his orders once again. Still, the same thing happened to the Dragonair as the waves hit it, barely any damage at all was done to it.

Onzi's body was propelled backward from the heat of both blasts colliding, brilliant ribbons of blue and red energy lashing in all directions, some landing astray on the targets dealing minimum damage. The serpent recoiled itself around two stories into the air from the repelled blasts. However, the Numel again was shot to the ground. The Dragonair's reaction time was much higher due to it's speed increase, and it would need to stay at a range to deal any damage what-so-ever.

The attack of Land Power was based entirely around what the Numel was able to rupture below it. Shugo's eyes had kept distance as far as how much it was able to reach when Dragonair wasn't near the pure ground source of the arena. This it what the attack relied on. Still levitating the stories above, Shugo's fingers snapped again to retract attention to him. Breathing for the dragon had become unstable, but he wasn't falling any lower, maintaining his current altitude.

"We've got to get up close and personal! If he's just going to attack with Land Power, we'll get in his face! Dive bomb it with an agility and a tackle!"

The Dragonair attempted to create enough velocity as it nodded. Cascading brilliantly from the sky, eyes focusing in on their target. He didn't worry of being attacked by Land Power, he just wanted to nail the Numel with everything he had. Soaring downward, the Numel was waiting below. A barrier appeared in front of the serpent, causing one to believe the speed at which it dove was quite intense.

Danny looked up at the divebombing dragon-type. He knew that there was no way to defend against it. So, there was only one thing to do, attack again. He waited right until the Dragonair was just about on him. "Fritz! Use Amnesia and then Smoke Erupt to end this fight!"

The small camel cringed as it began to concentrate and then a huge cloud of black, hot air was launched from its - blowhole? - and was slammed into the Dragonair's belly as soon as it slammed into the Numel. Both attacks were direct hits but the Dragonair slowly fell from the air and to the ground, fainted.

Shugo couldn't see from the escaping smoke that surrounded the arena once the two collided with the force of each attack playing into the after effects. Onzi's tattered body was tossed from the fray outside of the arena. It wasn't breathing, but had drifted into a state of unconciousness. Eyes closed, not moving an inch. Saddened to see that his favorite companion hadn't survived the challenge ahead, Shugo sighed dejectedly. His belief in Onzi wasn't enough to carry them to victory over the Numel.

Clenching his fingers together, the boy balled a fist. Gritting his teeth, he tapped fifth ball along the row for the familiar companion to be released. Voltage broke the clouds of gray haze as the bulbed creature bursted forward. It's bulb on it's back wasn't heavily mature, but it was rising to the state of adulthood. Growling, Ivysaur bared it's fangs to the crowd. Marks of wounds and heavy breathing signified he was still weak from the first encounter.

Shugo was now seeming desperate. Onzi was, indeed, his strongest contender. The Numel had proven troublesome for each of his three chosen for the battle, and with Ivysaur near the edge of unconciousness, he had to believe. Emerald eyes wandering up to the figure of his own battler, the lad spoke. Shugo tried to seem confident, even though Onzi laid near him resting. Kneeling, a hand stroked along it's mane. A comforting smile overtook him before he returned his attention to the contest at hand.

"Cesare, we're done yet. We need to knock him out! Put it to sleep!"

The Ivysaur lashed it's claws at the ground, building tension to distract itself from the growth in the plant on it's back. The leaves spread vibrantly, causing a deeper color of red to overtake the shade. Sparkling mists were released from the opening foilage, drifting amongst the afternoon breeze over the field. The Numel was slammed into the ground by the previous tackle at such a high velocity. Even with high defenses, it should be stunned to allow for the powder to take it's effect. And even so, the black smoke was still drifting around the arena to a smaller extent. Ivysaur had enough ground between it and the camel to react to an attack coming; Numel had a current disadvantage.

"Numel! Ready yourself with Land Power..."

Danny Vito's voice cracked slightly as the Numel gave a massive yawn, the humps on his back seeming to heave in place with a final spout of soot before the enormous camel collapsed into the mud.

Cesare's roar magnified the confidence of his trainer, as the purple haze drifted around the lazy head of the Numel. The black, dull eyes watched as they danced beautifully around his mind. Comforting thoughts of resting underneath the shade of an oak tree with not a care in the world was brought about. Yawning, it's lips smacking together appropriatly, the beast dropped to it's belly. An attempt had worked, and the creature that had plagued Shugo so much had fallen into a spell of slumber brought about by the Ivysaur.

Danny was nearly having kittens. His arms were flailing wildly in the air as he barked and shouted some words that Shugo only had the priveledge of hearing on the blocked satellite channels. A red color to his cheeks only further showed his frustration, stomping into the mud below him. Traces of the grime landed on his clothes, and only pushed him beyond his anger levels before. Shugo couldn't help but chuckle a little bit. Eyes focusing in to the image of the sleeping opponent, one could almost visualize the crosshair over the circular vision. A prime target, indeed.

A distinct hiss emitted across the field. Green, sharp objects protruded from the maturing bulb on the Ivysaur's back. Baring what fangs it had, Cesare growled lowly. The bladed leaves were positioned adjacent from one another. Leaning back against it's hind legs, it crouched in preparation. Launching forward, the force of the leap launched the spiralling projectiles forward. Four of them streamed brilliantly in the direction of the sleeping Numel, still dreaming of being below that very same oak tree. The odd thing was, it was smiling, unaware of what came at it.

*To speed things along, I'm just going to say what heppened during all of the sleeping turns... so you wont need to drag this on for longer than needed.*

Ivysaur was injured, but not enough to stop it from going on the offensive. While Numel slept, the grass type continually used its growth and Razor Leaf, each passing round of battling increasing its power. After about three rounds of shooting leaves, Numel fell. Not asleep, unconscious. It had been defeated, and now it would seem you had the upper hand.

'Dammit Numel.' Danny muttered, as he returned his fallen pokemon. 'You are up Thorn!' A quick flick of the wrist revealed Danny's next and final pokemon, a Cacnea.

(OOC: Thank you so much Jolt!)

Shugo quirked a brow at the cactus that sprouted from the beam of light within the center of the arena. It's eyes wandered brightly around until it sprouted a pair of arms. Following suit were tiny nubs that could be called leg appendages. Layers of exoskeleton expanded and broke into a blackened mouth, releasing a battle ready call to it's trainer, Danny. The opposing lad withdrew Ivysaur, simply by pointing to his ankles. Cesare would oblige, treading from the field of battle. Calmly taking a seat, he awaited the next competitor to enter the arena.

Feeling a bit more confident, Ivysaur had taken disadvantage and foiled the Numel that plagued him so. He was rather amazed at the distance they had been able to cover since they united. Shugo visualized Cesare's first evolution as it's bulb grew to the caliber that it was now. Soon after, his mind focused to the intense battle it had against the Baleine Gym leader's electric creatures. Streams of voltage were shot into the airspace as a determined Ivysaur darted from one side, levelling itself to fire more rapid spinning leaves into the torso of an Eletrike.

But now back to the present. Shugo knew who would be suitable, and was his only remaining battler other than Cesare. Tapping the ball once again, an aura of flames broke into the mud layers below. A figure was seen within, vermillion eyes breaking through the circle of fire. Fading eventually, it left just traces of black smoke in it's wake. A howl was released from the Magmar's mouth, it's knuckles brandished with the very tangible heat that surrounded it's body. Levelling it's vocals, the beast prepared to serenade.

Analyzing the color and familiar make-up of the Cacnea, Peregrine knew of it's elemental type; grass. But, it'd be much easier to stick to strategies instead of busting in with flaming fury. Eyes glazing back into a solid white, an ear breaking leer echoed from it's mouth. In hopes, the Cacnea would need to defend itself from the pain dwelling in it's head, too off balance to defend. But, following the leer came something other than sound. A thick, black substance coated the ring. Forcing Shugo to shield his mouth with his sleeve, the haze spread from the center of the ring and became very dense. Magmar's converted vision could see primely see through it's walls, but the Cacnea wouldn't be so lucky. Corruption of the air around it would soon follow for added torment.

*Not a problem, this has gone on way too long.*

Danny was a bit surprised that Magmar didn't simply spout off a flame attack to try for a quick win. But, it didn't, so this gave Mr. Vito time to formulate a strategy. 'Use your Leech Seed Thorn, and then an Ingrain.' Both of these techniques were defensive. It was clear what Danny was attempting to do.

While Magmar was filling the area with smog, it was suddenly shot at with seeds. They latched on to the fire type, forming vines around it and slowly began to squeeze. This caused Magmar to cut its Smog attack short. Yes, the arena was covered in smoke, but only a small cloud... nothing that wouldn't fade/be blown away soon after. While Magmar was struggling with the vines, Thorn placed itself on the ground and began to use Ingrain, sucking the nutrients of the earth into its own body.

This would obviously be more difficult than expected.

Shugo was feeling a bit more confident, but arrogance of situations can lead a person into a corner with no way out. The expression on his face remained to be that of a stern nature, not taking his eyesight away from the combat for anything. White highlights flailed in the wind as it suddenly kicked up but then died down once again. Magmar's analytical eye drifted to the roots now constricting his muscles, implanted below the layers of fiery skin. Growling, it tried to tear the remaining vines from his arms and legs to no avail; they were there to stay.

The boy's eyes wandered to the roots implanted into the sand. The Cacnea was going to draw from nutrients in the ground in order to replenish energy for it's wounds. Since it was so short, it was low to the ground. Grumbling, Peregrine's fists ran together to create enough friction to spark. A few embers began to grow from the area spoken of, and the Magmar turned over his shoulder. His trainer's vision locked with it's own. A few moments of silence passed before Shugo nodded.

Magmar braced it's arm outright as well as the other one, flames erupting around it's body as it launched itself. Sprinting as quickly as it could, tucking it's arms now in front of it's body for the wind shield. In fact, the heat grew from the own tempratures of the Magmar's exoskeleton. It knew the Cacnea would be unable to move at all if it hoped to even stay rooted for energy. It would take advantage of this and go for a direct hit, since it would be able to dodge a recoil. After arriving three feet in front of it, the beast stopped.

Bracing its heels into the ground, it stopped. Arms flailing upright, Magmar heaved a breath from it's chest, expelling the flames on it's hands into a stream down to the ground. They danced near the Cacnea's roots and body since it was so short, and in hopes would connect to the foilage and burn upright, severing it's connection and burning it in the process.

Shugo's intent was never for the Magmar to directly attack, maintaining some distance would help it out. The sudden stop would also add to the element of unpredictability. If he had a bit of distance, he'd have a larger reaction time. The trainer's mind drifted. "If I can best the trainer's leader, then I'm sure I'll be able to find out any information I need to know about this town. But I need to finish up here first!"

Your random pokémon trainer
"It's about time I took a page out of your book." With a smile, Danny took a small crystal out of his pocket and press it against the button on his Numel's Pokéball. "Ok Thorn, you can't attack this turn, so just defend!"

Thorn nodded as he crossed his arms over his face and took the weak yet brutal fire attack. It may have been his weakness, but he was about to be healed! Wincing in pain, your Magmar took a few steps back as the seeds embedded within his skin ripped a portion of his health right from him. Don't forget the lovely effects of ingrain!

Shugo had lost sight of the current skirmish only to view the expression on his fallen comrade's face. The Dragonair laid at his ankles, beaten and very weary from the day passed. Coughing once, it attempted to raise to it's upright position. At the very least, Onzi could give his moral support to his fellow companion that was currently in combat. It's eyes had grown dull and listless from the long events this afternoon. Shugo's hand fell to his side, open palm stroking down the appendages that seemed to be ears in a consoling manner. Clearing his throat, the boy raised his index and middle fingers to place them between his lips. Blowing as fiercly as he could, the twisting air conjured a sound to silence the entire crowd around the arena, even Danny.

"Why do we keep extending this battle? You're just as tired as I am, and the rest of 'em. Let's give this crowd the show that they came to see. Tooth and nail, Cacnea against Magmar. No items, no returns, no holding back. This determines the war, what do you say? You look like a gambling man; let's make the stakes a bit steeper."

Magmar's body was still covered in the vines, the flames around it's right fist began to cackle and uproar from the intense pressure created. Baring it's pearly fangs, the beast launched forward. There wasn't much distance to cover, so the Cacnea would have little time to even bother to dodge. Bringing it's fist down, Peregrine pivoted it's torso and punched upright. If connected, the uppercut would bring the cactus from the ground, removing it's ingrained effects. Growling, the fist would hope to cut the Cacnea from the ground.

Shugo still remained calm as he awaited a response from his opponent, and the crowd was as silent as he was.

Danny peared at you with his beady little eyes. Your proposal was one of interest. Currently he had the upper hand... Cacnea was ingrained and had Magmar seeded. It wouldn't need items to stay healthy with two sources of health. 'You're on!' Danny agreed, as he continued his meticulous assault.

The vines covering Magmars body hindered its movement somewhat, causing the power of the Fire Punch to decrease. But, when it hit, Cacnea screamed in pain as the fire almost penetrated its skin. The small cactus flew in the air, but not before its roots drug it back down. They had time to dig deep into the earth, and would likely be near impossible to break free at this point.

'You are alright Thorn! Use your Growth and Needle Arm combo!' Almost immediately the Cacnea began to glow of green, powering itself up for the Needle Arm attack. Its arm grew substantially as its needles collided with Magmars body.

The round had ended, and it looked as though Magmar was worse off... especially after been sapped of health, yet again.

The wandering vision of the crowd could easily survey the Magmar's condition. It's speed was being limited by the vines constricting every muscle on it's body, slowing any reaction by the slightest. To top it all off, it was able to drain the physical health away from the combatant, sapping it to the controller of the seeds planted aimlessly in the flaming bodice. Breathing heavily and staggering slightly, Magmar attempted to regain it's balance. Another turn and the final sap of energy would go into Cacnea, and call the match.

Shugo's teeth were grit from the tension before him. A gasp from the nearby trainers surrounding it knew the same. The lad gripped his fist hardly, as if to try and contact his companion somehow, though it was to no avail. He desired so heavily to run in and save him, or even to sacrifice himself to make sure that Peregrine no longer had to fight. One of the hardest things in his life was to view another's sacrifice for his sake, and being able to do nothing to help them. Although the white lines around the dark sand of the arena were simply lined chalk, he felt trapped by his own ambitions. Helpless at the side lines as the Cacnea's roots extended and latched to the ground, the boy felt a tear slide down his eyes.

In this battle alone, Shugo had seen his fighters push their limits all together and break new ground with ingenuity and prowess that he'd never witnessed them doing, or even thought capable. Images of his happy companions walking through an evanscent forest showed that they truely would sacrifice everything for him. But alas, it was a day dream. Knees becoming weak, the boy's jeans fell into the dirt below to brace him up, falling as though to conceed from his own weaknesses. But the Magmar's determination was still there! A mighty roar echoed from it's beak as the spines connected and impaled it's flaming epidermis. As if awakening from a daze, Shugo saw the will of fire develop. As if an unseen aura, Peregrine's body was soiled with the blood and sweat he had dedicated for the rest of his team. If anything was worth fighting for, this was the purest cause. Fighting for someone, to protect someone. Touched, our hero came to the realization of why his companions did this for him. Their toiled labors came out of the kindness of their hearts as he had shown for them. His care and work to ensure their strength and safety was enough to motivate them to new levels of power, speed, intellect, and morale.

A deep green haze covered the sun once the many thorned vines connected to the earth, once again connected to the nutrients that kept it healthy. Peregrine could clearly see it coming, and the momentum from the swing was bringing it down quickly. Even then, his right fist fell to his waist. Engulfed in the remaining energy he had, Peregrine conjured enough embers to cause the flames around his fist to be of a blue haze; their heat was higher of any temprature created by this creature. Eyes locked onto the scenario, Shugo bolted from the knelt position, coating his palms around the sides of his mouth to further project his voice.

"Peregrine, now! He's defenseless, shut him down! Right in the stomach!"

With that, another beastial roar bellowed from within, and the Magmar's fist launched forward. The timing was perfect, and the distance covered by the direct belt was quickly forgotten. If timed right, the Fire Punch would connected right into the stomach of the Cacnea and send it barrelling backwards. Peregrine and Shugo put everything they had into this last ditch effort, thus it was an all or nothing attack. 'Even if you go down... I'm proud of you. All of you, no matter what...'

Things were not lookign good for Magmar. Just another turn of being sapped by Leech Seed would probably be enough to finish it off.

Danny was a pretty smart fellow. Seeing that Magmar was ready to go for one last attack, he knew that he couldn't let Cacnea just sit there and become prey for your fire type. Acting on instinct alone, he commanded his pokemon... 'Thorn, try to hold Magmar back long enough for Leech Seed to kick in again, use your Pin Missle!'

As Magmar lept towards Cacnea, the grass type entended both of its arms. Without warning, out came countless needles, pins if you will. True to its name, they were like several small missiles, hindering Magmars path to its target. Despite the attack, Magmar was still on its feet, and delivered the fire punch, causing the grass type to yell in pain once again.

The blue flames burned away the roots, causing Cacnea to stumble backwards. It was unclear if it had been knocked out or not. Suddenly Magmar dropped to a knee. He was still covered in vines, and was still being sapped. The fire type staggered around a bit before finally falling on its face in the dirt. Meanwhile, Cacnea began to stir. It hadn't been knocked out, just dazed a bit. Thorn looked around, and spotted that Magmar was down. A smirk of relief found its way on the grass types face.

'Well... that was quite a show. Your Dragonair was one hell of a fighter, but I was more impressed with Magmar. What do you say we have ourselves a rematch... not anytime soon, but in the future?' I am usually in the desert training, but I can come here if you want this to be the battleground.'

Magmar grunted as it laid across the sun beaten field, the crowd dying down from the efforts that had seemed to have taken all afternoon. Growling lowly, it's eyes were sealed and it's limbs weakened and restrained. Sputtering some sort of vermillion liquid from it's mouth, he tried to rise to his feet. Peregrine was weakly stopped by a pat on the shoulder as the flames had died down around it's muscle frame. Shugo's defeated yet proud smile loomed over him, giving another consoling gesture to him before speaking lowly. The look within his eyes symbolized his confidence in the Magmar and the prowess he had seen in his abilities. Truely, there was growth to the boy on this day.

"It's alright... don't get up. You made me proud, Peregrine.... The entire team did."

A head of a sphere pressed against it's forehead, the crimson withdrawl leading it to the sanctum of the pokeball where it could rest and regain it's energy for the next few days. Onzi had reserved enough of it's stamina to stand on it's underbelly as it normally did, but visually weak he remained. Shugo stroked his friend's head, and withdrew him as well. Even through all of this, the brotherly grin was stapled to his expression. This, of all things, confused Mr. Vito to the point of questioning. Arms still folded across his chest, the thick Brooklyn accent fell over the still whispering crowd. Shugo listened to what he had said, and nodded firmly before rising to his own posture.

"Yeah... I'd like that. But actually, I'm sort of lost around here. It's a long story, but I'm kind of without a place to go for the moment. It all started-... well, you wouldn't believe me if I told you." The boy chuckled a bit, finding his own story a bit silly. Tucking his palms in a secure manner within his pockets, Shugo spoke again in a joking tone. "Let's just pretend I have a bad case of amnesia. I don't know anyone, nor do I have a place in this world. All I have are my buddies here, and they did one hell of a job today. More than I could ever ask for. Well, when you think about it.... that's all I really need, isn't it?"

But his expression changed to one of shock. His mind raced, bringing pictures of familiar faces. Those friends he had met along the journey in the Legacy Region, as well as the faces of his loving mother Ellen. The stern grin of his father Ryudo also appeared. Not far behind was the faint sleeping face of Dimitri, his often sleeping grandfather. Pink folicles appeared next with the shadows of a draconian fleet lumbering behind him. It was indeed Lance of the Elite Four, mounted gallantly atop the back of his mightiest Dragonite. But the blackness overcame the dream, and revealed only the crowd of unfamiliar faces that had attended the earlier skirmish.

"... Everyone's gone...," he whispered in a low, dejected tone.

'Gone you say?' Danny looked around him to see the crowd that had assembled begin to thin out. The battle was over, and they had no reason to stick around. 'Well, if it's amnesia you've got, this is probably the best place you can be. This is the epicenter of tourism, shopping, and even crime. It's like one big huge pot of a bunch of stuff mixed up together.'

Danny returned his victorious Cacne, and tended to hsi pokemons wounds as best as he could. 'You know... this place isn't a bad one to make a home in if you can defend yourself from the occasional thief or three. First things first though, head to the pokemon center to heal your pokemon. They need it. It wouldn't hurt to go visit Joe... he may know who you are, or can help you find out. Or... you could always take the Magnet Train to Ashdell. So many choices, so little time, I guess.' He began walking off into the city, motioning for you to follow. 'The pokemon center is this way.'
