OH MAN GENETICORE?

Guys the sprite we have from EzBoard is shit. All that white stuff, and not the kind Jolt likes.

So, we need a new one. An awesome one, without spike legs and things. Kaiz has already volunteered to get rid of the dots, but how about a whole bunch with different parts and varying other things?

Stick to the main form. Ursaring arm, Scizor claw, Cradily head, Scyther body (maybe). The legs are a mess, do what you want. Pick your favorite for those three requirements, edit them how you wish, but keep it sort of recognizable. I'd also like tentacles out of the back of its head or something. Awesome big ones. Yes, those.

Feel free to add extra arms or some shit. Make it good, make it horrifying.

Your most used/favorite word or writing technique?

Posted by Kari (Members) at Yesterday, 9:50 AM. 7 comments

I came across this interesting tidbit of info while I was chatting with my friends online (not Legacy chat, sorry xD), and it seemed like a fun, reasonable thing to do.

Basically, it is said that your most used/favorite word reflects one of two things: the word that most represents your personality or the word that most represents your desire/fantasies! And I do think that makes quite a bit of sense, since it's quite possible that our diction is fairly subconscious except during freeforms, and you tend to use words which you feel comfortable with/ you feel fits your personality to the tee.

Share your most used/ favorite word (RP and otherwise), and why. If someone's posted before you, share your impression about the previous poster AND comment on your thoughts about that person's chosen words in relation to his character.

AND NOTE: Phatic lines and common-use words with no close substitute, like pronouns/nouns/common-use verbs (are)/anything used for the sole purposes of writing in proper grammar or maintaining the flow of the prose. And don't be too technical about the words. Just take the definition of 'words' as 'deliberate diction to emphasize on the writer's style and emotions.'

No restrictions with words either: feel free to crown 'fuck' as your favorite word, but explain it.

And if you want to, you can share your style and writing technique (or what you think you are doing when you write) as well.

Most used (and likely-to-be-used) words in RPing: 'not', 'perhaps', 'think', other synonyms.

Words which suggest hesitancy and deliberation over a certain subject. I feel that this brings emphasis the things which are definite by contrasting them with those which are less defined, and adds a bit of thought into the writing as well. That's my style, I think.

Favorite writing technique?: Repetition, Rhythm, Stream of Consciousness, Plenty of Allusions/symbols/metaphors, Breaking down the Fourth Wall (I can't do it yet =/)

I do lots of repetition. As for the last four, I sometimes use them without realizing it (until my Language teacher gave me credit for something totally unintended), and I'm trying to master SoC which is pretty hard. Rhythm... I try to do it sometimes alongside with repetition, when I feel that I can actually hear the sound or something.

Weaknesses: Anything to do with Action/Movement. Or Comedy.

I can do deliberate positioning to a very limited extent (like, who stands where and what), but get me to describe in detail about a WWE match and I'll probably make you sleep. As for comedic factors... I know little references. Puns are ok, but my sense of humor is sometimes warped and I can't pull it off in writing anyway.

Your turn!

Berries & Evolution

Posted by Jance (Moderators) at Yesterday, 1:16 AM. 6 comments

Was wondering, those berries that give EVs (Razz, Bluk, Nanab, Wepear, Pinap, Cornn, Magost, Rabuta, Nomel, Spelon, Pamtre, Leppa) is that a full EV or "1/4th" of an EV, same as if they'd received an EV from battling? And does that apply right away or not until after they level?

Evolution question, if you obtain a Pokemon over it's evo level can you go ahead and say it evolves or do you have to wait for it to level again like in the games?

And if a Pokemon evolves or is evolved at X level and learns a move at the same time it levels for both forms, does it get both moves? Like say you evolve a Scyther at level 21, Scyther learns Wing Attack at level 21 and Scizor learns Metal Claw at level 21, does Scyther learn Wing Attack then, when evolution is induced, learn Metal Claw as Scizor?

Speed and Attacks

Posted by Fractal Monkey (Admin) at Nov 22 2009, 10:25 AM. 5 comments

With pokémon able to launch two attacks per turn, there may be some confusion as to when things attack. A few scenarios for people to discuss:

Consider two pokémon, X and Y. In all cases, all moves used have the same priority.

Scenario 1

Speed of X = Speed of Y

First set of attacks happen simultaneously, then second set of attacks happen simultaneously. Perhaps ranged attacks happen before contact attacks?

Scenario 2

Speed of X > Speed of Y (X faster than Y)

The order of attacks goes X-Y-X-Y.

My reasoning is that the physical action of attacking takes time, and so the speed advantage of X is not enough for it to launch two attacks before Y gets to launch its first attack.

Scenario 3

Speed of X > 2*(Speed of Y) (X is twice as fast as Y or faster)

X attacks twice, then Y attacks twice, as X's speed advantage is now enough to warrant the extra attack. (X-X-Y-Y)

I was thinking about support moves as well, and whether they take less time to perform. For example, would Swords Dance + damage attack be quicker than two damage attacks? Let's get everything cleared up here if we can.

Small APL Limit Change

Posted by Fordy (Admin) at Nov 20 2009, 02:19 PM. 0 comments

There's a been a lot of changes since the max of 50 was set for Wild Pokemon. Back then, we were still on 3 :exp = 1 level! Now we've got Genexp, and that's been halved, and all these things. It would make sense to raise the limit, considering all those, right? Took long enough, the following areas will now have a max APL of 60, on account of their frequency of travel and other factors.

The Xugbar Swamp. The Alabaster Mountains. The Imperial Mountains. The Carmine Mountains (A little different here. All the landmarks touching Redhurst, and the Abandoned Rock Quarry).

So, if you're reaching the upper limit of APL in the wild, never fear!
