Yep he sure does that, I have shirts in my laundry hamper covered in Mochi-poo to prove it

I've just found out that Mochi's cage is 14x8x15 inches, which slightly smaller than what is recommended. I got it used from a friend who had housed a budgie and a lovebird in it (at separate times I assure you- also my friend was pretty uneducated about having pet birds, hence the small cage for a love bird) so I assumed it would meet the p-let requirements at least.

He seems pretty happy in it but I still think I should get him a bigger one. Can this wait or is there any sort of urgency?

That does seem like a VERY small cage. I don't think it's urgent, but do your best to get him in a bigger cage as soon as possible.

So I have a touch of good news and bad news.

Bad news is I'm stupid used the size of Mochi's liners to determine his cage size... but the liner tray is a lot smaller than the actual cage (it curves in at the bottom) So it is likely more like 10x16x15 inches. Slightly better. I'd have actual measurements but I can't find my measuring tape and don't think Mochi would approve of me going through "his room" looking for it and then holding it up to his cage at this hour.

Just keep your eyes open and keep looking for something a bit bigger for him.

Just a little advice ...when you are ready to find a new cage, make sure the bar spacing is adequate for a Parrotlet. A lot of people make the mistake of buying cages with too wide spacing! :)

I agree Gail
When i first got scooby nod2 and sky past1 , i put them in a big parrot cage, and when i used to come home from work scooby was always out of his cage and had manged to get into the canaries cage . i watched him one day and he squeezed through the bars of his own caged climbed onto the canairy's cage and squeezed into theirs, i could not stop him he thought it was a game. so yes bar spacing is somthing to consider.

One of my Parrotlets got stuck in the bar spacing
as the width was wrong... if we hadnt been their
she could of hung her self...so that acge went straight

thought i'd share ours it's 18x15 wxd and thirty-seven inch tall. will get bigger/wider one when funds allow, but he's happy for now climbing and flying up and down and back and forth between perches.

Posted Image

(the white in the corner isn't poo, it's glue where the base was all smashed up in the 2 corners when it arrived :( was well annoyed, but theyre sending me a free replacement cage even though i can't send this one back used.)

he's got his wood chews and bell hanging in the top, with a little dowel swing, and the big fluffy flossing swing/ring with couple perches front and back so there's loads room up the middle to fly. and down bottom he's a natural Y shape perch with toys tied through it from pets at home. and a little bird house to hide from draughts etc if he wants. oh and his awesome bath :p

pegs etc are because the little feed hatches etc seem far too easy to open, so i've been extra cautious
