When I first moved my pair to the bigger cage they were scared for a day or two but with all the toys they adjusted quickly.

The cage to the right of the main one is their old home, you can see just how much bigger the new one is! In the background you can see a cabinet full of my Samoyed ornaments and part of my miniature drinks collection. The dog in the calendar to the top left is mine :)

Great sized cage :)

I love samoyed's... they are beautiful! I don't think i'm up for the upkeep of the coat though LOL!
Since 1972 we've only had Samoyeds (Red is our fourth), and to be honest I wouldn't want another breed now. The coat does take some looking after, but a half-hour brush each day or two will keep it nicely in trim. The added bonus of all that fur is that you can have it spun and knitted into clothes (no, I don't do the knitting thing, but I do have a scarf made from sammy fur). Also there's plenty to stuff around the garden each spring for the birds to collect for their nests. I also use the fur in my fly-tying and have started collecting the odd dropped parrotlet feather to use too :)

Getting more toys for them is the next thing on my list, at the moment all they have is two swings and a bell (which isn't in the photo I posted). They are pretty much used to the cage now, but they do not like being out of sight of each other - sometimes one will be on the grey shelf and the other will be under it, they'll screech and look around for each other until one or both move and they can see each other again, then they'll cuddle on one of the perches for a while

Thanks Matz, must admit it does look good

A great thread and I love looking at other folks cage setups. We have Sweetpea in a 11x16x22 right now and it seems good for her for a while. Honestly we should move and give this place to the birds its getting that crowded! We are already looking for a slightly larger cage, budget concerns you know? I agree with those who say a clean cage and lots of love and time out will help when you have a small cage. I am thinking of a 30x18x18 flight cage for one will be perfect! wave

How have I missed this? Here is Bigboy's palace. He had a cage that was literally 1/2 the size when I first got him. Now, that is his sleeping cage. The first 2 pictures show how Bigboy wallpapered his cage sides with his bottom paper. I don't put paper on the bottom any more. I wash the 2 bottom trays daily. (I was afraid he would get caught in his contortions trying to pull up the paper)

I've just found out that Mochi's cage is 14x8x15 inches, which slightly smaller than what is recommended. I got it used from a friend who had housed a budgie and a lovebird in it (at separate times I assure you- also my friend was pretty uneducated about having pet birds, hence the small cage for a love bird) so I assumed it would meet the p-let requirements at least.

He seems pretty happy in it but I still think I should get him a bigger one. Can this wait or is there any sort of urgency?
