I'm thinking about getting Jo Jo a new cage too depending on how much room I have after seeing if getting Amos a corner cage helps take up less space.

That's a nice starter cage Butterflygirl. I think it's ok to start them in a smaller cage then move up as you can afford it. The beginner cage makes a great cage to take them outside in or even a cage you can allow your bird to travel with you, Easy to set up in your hotel room with little space needed.

I think it's a cool cage, Gail. To me, it seems that clipped P'lets love to climb, so I got a nice tall cage for our pair & they love it

The discussion of cages always seems to get a little heated on this forum, which i do find slightly strange as their are far more pressing subjects that should get people talking. eg:

Why is the Admin on this site ALL WAY'S late with the competitions ?
Why can I never find the smilies i want..?
What is it about Cats ?

seriously though, i have not seen a cage that i would consider too small for a parrotlet on this forum yet. nearly all people who join a forum have only got one thing on their mind and that is how to care for their bird better, and i do hope that is the main thing that we try to help them with.
Take my cages for example, i have three, two of the ones at the start of the thread and a larger one for the budgies. now i would loved to have bought two more of the larger ones for my parrotlets, but couldn't really. not due to cost as there is only thirty pounds in it but due to the size and the fact where would i live. i do believe though that if the calculations were done that my parrotlets would have more space in their cages than i do in my flat

We all have to make the choice that we feel is the best for our birds, if this differs to what some one else thinks so be it.

I haven't got any pictures of it but Squeaker boy was kept in a 12" x 12" x12" cage feed on budgie seed, before i took rescued him. and i have seen other budgies kept in the same size cage, these are the people that should be questioned not the ones who care for their birds.

kev :)

Thank you kevin that was very well put. Gail I think that's a wonderful cage and Cricket is going to love it. He does have clipped wings so no need to worry about having flight space for your cage. There are not that many on our forum who only have one bird so we have to consider the space we have available in our homes. I have always said it's not so important on the size of cage you have unless it's really, really too small but more on the quality of life you give to your birds.

lol! Kev you crack me up! I am constantly looking for emoticons! hee hee!

But you are all correct, especially Bonnie when she says it's more important on the quality of life that you give your feathered babies!

PS...Kev! I'm sooooooo happy you (took)...I mean rescued the little Squeaker boy!!!! :)
