I said in the past that parrotlet mating is slightly different than say budgie matings, where the male stands with both feet on the females back. They will then turn their tails over so that their cloaca can touch and then the male will pass the sperm over. in some birds this act can be very quick just a touch of the cloaca touch and the jobs done.

When parrotlets mate the male will tend to put one foot on the females back and then they will turn their tails over so the cloaca's touch, sometimes the female will put her foot on the male, i have not seen it this way yet.

any way here is a video of bubble and squeak mating, their mating always seem to start the same., squeak will start by getting close to her than he will jump from perch to perch she will follow him. they will chase around for a while then they will sit on the perch together, he will "wiggleneck" feed her and she will do the same to him.then she will lie down and he will step one foot on her back.afterwards they will sit on the perch cuddled up, this seems to happen every morning at the moment.

sorry i have just noticed i had the sound turned off.

I love the 'after' pic! It's so cute.

This is really different from budgies mating. I saw Pesto put his foot on Boo's back this week and the little lad is barely six months old! eek.

Today i managed to get the camera ready for them, this is getting to be a daily thing for them, and if you watch the video you may notice that its Bubbles that initiates the act.

Also listen to the sound they make, this is Bubbles getting Squeak interested.

Again you will see in this video, taken just after the one above, it is Bubbles that initiates the mating again.
