Hi I was wondering if someone could tell me the best size of cage for my bird and if its length, width or height thats important. Also is there a specific cage you could suggest I should purchase in the UK.

Thanks

it really all depends on how much you have to spend and how much room you have, you can use a large budgie cage, this is what i have two of my parrotlets in. or you can buy a larger cage like say bubble and squeak are in. on bar spacing 15mm is really the largest gap i would go with, any larger and the parrotlet might get his/her head stuck in the gap.

or if you wanted bigger this is what my budgies are in

or like i said a largeish budgie cage something like this maybe

my own view on cages is buy the largest and the best you can, you might start with a budgie cage and then decide you want something bigger and better.

these cages do appear expensive for a small parrotlet but they do use all the space they are given.

Kevin is right get what you can afford but try to get something with enough room for lots of toys. You have 2 months or so to get saved up for a nice cage.

Those are all nice cages. I love the one I have because it has a built in skirt around it which saves a lot of cleaning of the floor..lol... ;)

LARGE and wide. They fly sideways. A flight cage works well. Posted Image
