Obi had his leg ring caught in a clip yesterday....
It was a good job I was sat in the room with him...
There is no way he could have freed himself...
It took myself and Jeff to free his leg...
Ive checked all his toys and thrown the ones which
look iffy... ( Bad clips)
It makes me wonder if birds should have these leg rings
on... its not the 1st time I've had a bird caught up
by them....
I may ask my avian vet to remove the ring...
Obi was very luck he could have been hanging there
for ages if I'd been out...I dread to think what damage
it could have done...

eek totally agree, I hate the leg rings, had Micky's removed and he's microchipped. The Parrotlets are too small to be chipped but luckily Keko's ring was removed by his parents as soon as it was put on so its only Tyke I have to keep an eye on but he's not into getting in such weird positions with the toys as Keko and Micky.

Oh n poor thing. Ringing is a basic procedure one for the breeders records and secondly if the bird was ever to escape it could be traced to the breeder who can then trace it to who they sold it to. Also helps with theft, finding the breeder of the bird ( as some end up in many random different homes). If it makes you nervous get the vet to remove it, xx
