I've been browsing your cage pics and noticed some of you have fabric hammock type things, are these just for breeding pairs or something a single bird may like? Can anyone tell me what toys are best/most favoured by your birds? Are there any toys that could be home made and safe? Toilet rolls or anything like that? Oh and water.....is it best to have a bowl of water or one of those tall water feeder bottles? (Ifyou know what I mean!) Thanks becky |

Toys I've a collection of all sort... Plastic.. rope.. loo rolls...swings...bells.. lots of wooden...basket weave.. the list is endless More or less anything that takes your fancy... Yes there are lots of things you can make...by buying off the internet... a few members make there own I'll let them explain what they use... Water bowls are what I use.. either stainless steel or the plastic.. I personally don't like the feeders bottles... Hammocks...do you mean the fluffy tent things... One of my birds sleeps in that but I only put it in the cage at night time... |

All mine have swings! And they have this eases wing I get from Wilkingson! Amazing birds love that! Snuggle huts are great for same sex or single birds... Give a male and female one and they will use it as a nesting sight. I once had one for my pet Lorikeet but he litrally shagged it to death! They can become quiet defensive of their fav toy. Oh and toilet rolls! They are popular |

Yes you can. Make toys, you can uy kits or make your own, you can probably find lots of examples online. My two sleep on a swing. Once cover goes over they are on their swing in seconds and settle for the night. They like lots of different toys. Some birds love snuggle huts, others not really interested. Parrotlets do have quite varied personalities as you have probably gathered :) |

Yes idid mean the fluffy tent! Where ddo youbuy those? Didn't think to look in wilko for stuff, there's a parrot shop near me and I went the other day, everything was so expensive, £6 for a couple of dowel perches! The toys were about £8 for the tiniest little rope and bell! Made my first purchase of nearly everything they sell on zooplus! Love that site. Are there any other good sites I could look at? |

Have a lot of my toys from Wilkinson's and also from Amazon... Think that's where I had the snuggle tents from or Pets at Home also have them... some good places to buy cheap toys is some of the pound shops... I look everywhere and in the markets.... but make sure they are safe for the birds...I buy grass's in the pound shops also.. my P'lets and budgies love them... Makes a change from Millet.... |

Well I've just been to wilko and pets at home. Pets at homes range was a disgrace! Hardly anything for birds! I was wondering if the rabbit toys would be safe for birds? A lot of rabbit toys are made of sticks and dry grasses also sissel rope. Then there's rubber or latex dog toys, would that be safe for birds? There was latex in the PAH parrot toys. I also wondered if hard plastic baby toys like chain link rings would be safe.....surely wouldn't be made of anything toxic! |

Yes baby and toddler toys fine just avoid anything from china. Ferret, rabbit etc also fine, latex and rope dog toys fine. Most parrot stuff is over priced and poorly made. My senegal can buzz saw through toys made for Macaws. Scarletts parrot essentials is about the cheapest. |

Yes I have bought from Scarlets essentials and zooplus, both a bit more reasonable than other sites. Our local pet shop has much more variety than pets at home. Though I do use pets at home sometimes as it's very convenient. Making your own toys is probably the most economical |
