Hi everyone I am new on here and I am looking into purchasing my first bird. I have looked at alot of different one but the one that has caught my eye is the parrotlet. A girl at work has one in her aviary, a little boy I believe and although she has taken a picture I still can grasp how big they are...are we talking budgie size ??? Are they similiar to a budgie for character etc ??? is there anyone in the east midlands that has any ???? Your advice would be most welcome Tina |

Welcome Tina, they are about oh 2-3" and are know to be amazons in a little package. They are playfull little guys with a huge personality. I find them quieter than budgies (but i have over 30!) I'm sure you'll find all you need to know about them here! |

hi Bubblyblue and welcome to the forum, parrotlets are slightly smaller than a normal budgie, and quite a lot smaller than a show budgie. they are wonderful little parrots but you mustn't let their size deceive you as they don't know they are small so act just like a larger parrot
:) sorry i dont know of any breeders in the area. kev :) |

if they are still very young say up to about 8-10 weeks old you shouldn't have any problems with them as long as you are prepared to put some time in. he also might meen that they are hand tame rather than handreared. if not there is never a rush when buying your first parrot so be prepared to look around
:) are you some where in the dudley area ? |

Hello and Welcome Tina, I would say if at all possible for your first bird try to get a hand raised one. It will just be so much more easy for a first time bird. |
