A Regular Know-It-Some :D Posts: 21 Group: Full Members Member #290 Joined: July 22, 2007	I'm new to this site, but not to birds. B) My husband and I have had lots of birds in the past, but had to give them up when our first son was born in 1981 (asthmatic). He has since grown up and moved away and we decided to get our first bird in a long time in December 2005. We've had a lot of fun rearing Skyler blue2 (a Pacific Parrotlet, blue) and most recently acquired our newest 'baby' on June 11th (2007) - Kumiko grey: our first ever "big" parrot (Timneh African Grey). So far, so good.....he's turning out to be a lot of fun too. :D Hubby and I are both firm believers in researching and preparing everything prior to obtaining a new pet. We now have an pretty big library of books on parrots as a result including Veterinarian texts. But, it still left gaps in our education that only reading forums seemed to fill. (There is no substitute for experience.) Our youngest boy (now 24) volunteered at O.W.L. in Delta, BC for about a year when he was a teen. He was fascinated by owls and raptors of all kinds at that time, and still really appreciates Barn Owls and Saw-Whet Owls as a consequence of his working with, feeding and cleaning up after all the birds that O.W.L. had in residence. This site is very different from what I'm accustomed to, I haven't figured out how you post pictures yet. Some of the functions don't appear to function for me: like uploading my avatar (of Skyler). It's in .jpg format, yet I get a message telling me that my image is not in an acceptable format. <_< Oh well, it will wait. angrey2 (just kidding)

Myself and others have had birds for many years and still learn something new all the time. I think you will enjoy our forum we have a great group of people.
