Do you think it makes a difference with UV light if a bird has red eyes?

This morning I was in the kitchen with Fern and she was feeding out of a bowl in my hand. I moved my hand so she was under the under cupboard fluorescent strip, thinking it might illuminate her food as suggested in the article. She didn't like it at all and immediately flew off. I tried her a couple of times and she wasn't happy. I thought maybe it's not the right sort of bulb and went with her (still perched on her dish in my hand) into the other room which was a bit gloomy as it was a very dark morning. Once there she tucked into her food which was a small bowl of all sorts. She went straight to all the different things and had a try of everything. There was brown rice, green beans, soaked seed, raspberries, pomegranates (which she's not too sure about) and a blob of one of her favourites - porridge!!

I thought well she sure looks like she can see all this in particularly dim light. It occurred to me later that maybe it's different in red eyed birds. Googled it and not found any info so far

If this was a regular kitchen fluorescent tube and not an avian 'full spectrum' UV, I've read birds can see the flicker which we can't detect. It's like putting them under a discotech strobe light. So maybe that's why she didn't like it.

It was our first waking to the Lumie Bodyclock Elite 300 with a gentle sunrise, this is used as a slow light builder prior to his Avian light going on. It was beautiful, I set it to slowly increase the light over an hour and we both benefited from a more natural way of starting our day. The Avian light is now on for him to enjoy the full colours of his fresh breakfast. Hopefully this lovely start to the day will compensate for the rest of the morning as Olly will be home alone before our woodland amble this afternoon.

had coco (the amazon ) at the vets the other day she was just getting her nostrils cleaned, and she got her beak and nails trimmed . The vet suggested that a sunlight might help with her feathers (she was baldy when i got her, her feathers have grown back but she still looks a bit rough). Any way got coco a sunlamp on a stand from northern parrots she loves it .
also got the parrotlets two 3 foot strip lights, got the tubes from northern parrots had to get the controllers from a reptile specialist and im waiting for the reflectors from amazon
