Is willow safe to use/put in the cage? I have a nice supplier of it (my lovely mum) so instead of all of it being thrown just wondered if its worth keeping some back for the cage.
Also (feeling too last to start a separate post) those with 1 or 2 birds how much weight of seed do you buy and how long does it last?

I use to purchase by the 1kg..
Once you find what they like
and how much they eat you can
adjust your buy.
Its surprising how much you waste,
and how much small birds can eat.
I put the seed left in the dish out for the
wild birds...recycling! LOL
I keep all my seeds, and millet in plastic snap
top containers...also the cuttle fish
Hope this is some help for you..
I've used willow, just scrub it well first...

willow is safe! We use it for the lovebirds, they will strip it and make nests out of it :)

as for feed a small d cup (like the one we talked about ) is fine for a days food. always make sure they have food and water 24 hours a day.
they will waste a lot! but I have some pairs who will pretty much eat all theirs. When they have babies I give them a big feeder and will top up 12 hours later if need be! maybe that's why Im breeding such fatties lol!!!

I use Weeping and Goat Willow Olly likes both. For the first few weeks I had to prop replacement Willow out side his cage for a few hours befor taking old out and putting new in. I buy Cockatiel/Lovebird mix seed at 1kg but Olly must be the only Parrotlet on the planet who doesn't care for Sunflower seed even dehusked human grade.........strange lad! He only eats about 10% seed a day rest fresh foods. He will eat more seed if I buy speciality fruit seeds rather than the standard mix. He used to have Millet available all the time now that he's such a good eater once a week unless we travel to a new venue with new people then I pop one in his travel cage.

Hayley is so right!! They do waste so much, I've even tried going through it all and picking out the seeds they didn't eat!! Gave up after 10 mins, had a neck ache!!!!!

I feed all of mine these seed mixes,

JR Birds Premium Cockatiel and Prestige Large Parakeet/Cockatiel Food from zooplus
Parrot Premium - Nutritious Seed Diet from Northernparrots
XtraVital Vitamin Enriched Cockatiel Food

They have a small amount of each as well as their fresh food daily plus they also like a little of Cooper's chunkier seed mix!!
