I was reading all about it last night on FF Hayley.

One thing I have not sorted out in my head is the electric supply for the ethernet links.

My electric supply for the birds comes from a different box. Would I not need the house electric for thios to work????

I am not sure my power souse comes from the house. Into the bird room.
Where else would your power come from?

I used to own and run this place as a boarding kennel and cattery so the electric had to be separate from the house supply as it was classed as commercial and the prices were higher.

The sheds the birds are now in are the sheda my stud cats were in so the supply comes from there. Now we are retired we still have that outside supply for all the out buidings..

I love the foscams! We have 15 of them around our house. We started with 2 in the bird room and it expanded over time. My husband works in Germany a lot, so it's nice for him to be able to check in on us (especially when I was pregnant and he was worried). We have them set up to record 24/7, so if anyone ever breaks into our house, they will be in trouble. 3 of the cameras are outside--those ones don't do sound or pan/tilt like the inside ones, but they are weatherproof.

We use 2 cameras for our baby monitor. They are great! The infrared lights amazing!

We can view all of our cameras on our iPhones, iPads, and android tablets. We love them! When Gareth is in Germany, he can look in and see what Alex and I are up to and feel a part of things. He can even talk to us through the cameras.

Mary, you don't have to use Ethernet cables for them. You can use wifi and then all you need is to plug them into the electricity, then it won't matter about the source.

Here is a photo of my cheeky chappy in a dark room

There are a million ways to set it up, but we use Zoneminder (software) on a Home Theatre PC. There are many other ways, but that's how ours are set up. For other options, just google it. There are forums dedicated to this stuff!

Hayley!! eek Your poor mom!!!

Lisa did you set most of those up for Alex or for security purposes? I think it's such a great thing but I don't have anyone to spy on! I'm home all the time so I wouldn't use one much. Very cool though. nodding
