you have a very nice looking garden, the budgies are going to love living there, looks a great aviary and a perfect size. looking forward to seeing pics with the birds in it :)

If I were one of your Keets, I would call that pure Paradise!!!!! Is that redwood or cedar you used on the top...I know either one costs an arm and a leg!! eek. You've done a fantastic job and the best part is it looks like you can see everything going on from your window! Looks like the perfect place for it!

PS...If you get a chance I would really love to see some close ups of your pond!!!!

It looks great!!! (gail, we used redwood on ours, and they ate so much that the replaced parts are pine! LOL)

lol!!!!! Redwood last a lifetime in all kinds of weather!!! Nobody said it was beak resistant!!!!! rofl2

I used pine & doug fir. I read somewhere that redwood & cedar have tannins in them that can be toxic to birds, although I don't know if this is true. I don't think it matters much as I don't think the birds actually "eat" the wood, I think they just bite it off & spit it out :nuts: It's more the frustration relieving therapy of destroying something that they seem to like :angry:

I used Linseed oil as a preservative, you just paint it on & it helps protect the wood from moisture, etc. I now have the roof on & the double entry doors attached, plus some other little "innovations" of mine!
