Hey everyone.... I had this parrotlet for about a year now... and for the last few months he started to rock forward and backward uncontrollably... his eyes are always closing and he quiet often drifts off to sleep but he's still rocking :S. Whenever i pick him up he freezes and he stay in whatever position he was in.. his feet dont move so if i put him on my lap he will just stay as they were. :S he wont each vegtables or fruit yet he loves grit :S... Anyone knows whats the matter with him? Oh and also he grinds his beak before he goes to sleep :S:S im really worried please help |

You need to take him to a vet asap! What do you mean by grit? I hope he will be ok. :( |

as has been said take him to the vet, by the way remove the grit Parrots dont need it as they hull their seeds unlike wild birds who hull their seeds in their gut with grit |

That's why I was asking about "grit" Some people call oatmeal grits so I was wondering if that is what you were referring to. If you mean the grit that is suppose to help them digest food, then Kev is absolutely correct. They say it can even cause harm to them. Take the grit away. |

Hope the little guy is okay :( Grit is bad for parrots as it causes blockages and can make them very ill, hope you managed to get to a vet to find out the problem. Both our birds beak grind when they're dozing off though, its a sign of a content bird! But I think excessive grinding could indicate some kind of pain? Not sure on that one though |

I've never notice Cricket grinding his beak...but the Grey's sound like they are sawing wood when they are sleepy or content! It's music to my ears! :) |
