Hi there I am looking for a normal spectacled parrotlet cock bird to go with my lonely egg laying hen. I live near the West Midlands but would consider any distance because I am desperate lol. Any help would be most appreciated.

Yay another spectacled keeper!!! I have 2 pairs at the mo, Nessa and smithie are my breeding pair (going to put a box back in with them soon.) and I have my babies Pancake and Syrup. I just brought Syrup (a hen) from a place in newport Wales. She had 2 cocks there ( one of the women tried selling as a hen) but they were young. I think you will have great difficulty getting hold of adult birds (people have caught on how 'rare' they are and don't want to part with the adult birds. as they take 2 years to mature) so you could contact wildheart petshop, or if you red the parrot society last month there is an article in there about the rarer parrotlets and we are trying to get a circle of breedres together. There was a lady at Stafford selling 3 pairs of them (all2010 birds) I brought Smithie from her. But I cannot remember her name... plus the 3 pairs sold very quickly!

The two ladies who own the shop are on hols this week, and I think one of their dads is running the shop (don't think he will know much about parrotlets though, ) so not sure if you would rather wait a week and deffinatly speak to Sue, she is lovely!!
