Hello Everyone,

Ive joined this site for some helpful hints, tips, tricks to keeping a happy and healthy parrotlet. From what Ive read everyone seems to be very passionate about their fluffy little friends.

I have yet to adopt one and I must say i am finding it very difficult to find a breeder in the London area (anywhere on the underground)

Can anyone help me with this? The waiting is becoming quite painful and theres only so many videos one can watch on youtube!!

Many thanks

blue1 BIG WELCOME

I cant help you with finding one in the London area
(I live in Wales)
but there has to be breeders there somewhere..

Yes we are passionate about our little birds...
But boy they can be a handful of trouble also...
Cant take your eyes off them once they are out of the
cage for a minute...
They are very faithful I find as pets...
Two of mine bite me like hell...
the little boy is a sweetie tho
Id go for a boy parrotlet everytime...

Good luck with the search let us know how you get on nod2

I would give Tracy and Sue a ring at wildheart pets, Newport. Most of the brits on this forum have bought their parrotlets from them, and they are really passionate about their birds. I think they were doing a courier service - though if you're trying to keep your expenses down it would probably be too pricey. Here's the link anyway Wildheart pets
they may know someone in the london area who breeds parrotlets?

Thank You Everyone!

I have found a breeder in the London area and I'm very happy to annouce my little baby was born nearly two weeks ago! I'm hoping for a male and out of a clutch of 5 the odds seem good! Just ordered my cage as well and I'm super excited!!

At what age can the chicks fend for themselves? 6 -7 weeks? I know its important to have them by the 12 week mark, I will have mine at 9, is this a good age?

Thanks again!

Sara

Congratulations, Sara!! how exciting!

9 weeks is a good time to get a baby, the important thing being you want to make sure the baby is fully weaned and eating well on its own for a week or two before you take him home. Don't worry if you aren't able to get him until 10 or 11 weeks, or even past that -- you will still be able to develop a strong bond with a baby at an older age. It depends more on how socialized they are before you get them, not really their age.

Welcome to the forum!

Thats a good age to have him at Sara :) 8 to 9 weeks he will be less inclined to regress at that age and well done on finding a breeder near you I bet you can not wait :)

was it you that emailed me ? if it was thanks for the nice comments about Squeak :) I used to have a few more parrotlets and at the time I was giving them all vits and minerals in their water but I have stopped that and I have noticed no difference in his condition or in the budgies.

At the moment everyone is moulting four budgies and a parrotlet there are feathers everywhere
