What a sad story... I hope I can learn from you to never be slow to take her to the vet, you took her to the vet right away, and even if she didn't make it, you did what was best for her. I hope I can take care of my girl as well as you took care of Boo crying |

Thank you for all your kind words, but I have breaking news!!! I'm sorry I never told you guys earlier & I didn't mean to upset you all, but I wasn't sure about anything so I figured I'd wait 'till today when things were certain. Anyway, I'm happy to say that Boo Boo is still with us :wub: :wub: :wub: :wub: After I talked to the vet I was sure it was all over. So anyway I wanted to see her one last time so I went to the vet. Well, I couldn't believe my eyes, as soon as she saw me she got excited & started biting at the incubator to get out!! When I got her out she nestled up to me & even preened my hair a little :wub: crying :wub: crying She was obviously having trouble breathing & was coughing a bit, but she didn't really seem in bad distress. She can perch fine, she's eating (although her weight is down to 24gms & drinking. She just had so much life left in her that I thought I'm not giving up on her :wub: :wub: I was kind of mad that the vet was recommending she be euthanised as, like I said, sure she's got some breathing difficulties but she's not really on deaths door like the vet led me to believe Angry Sile I mean, obviously if I saw she was really bad & couldn't stand, etc, then I would have no choice. But I don't think she's there yet. So the upshot is, I got her home because she was a lot perkier with me around & I thought she'd do better at home in familiar surroundings, hopefully she will be happier here so even if she doesn't make it at least she'll be here with me instead of stuck in some strange vets office. Well, I set up the Brinsea Brooder (TLC4) which is heated & has a constant airflow that also has moisture added for humidity.I rented an oxygen tank & regulator, etc, so she's getting the same treatment as at the vets but she should be less stressed being at home. Hopefully this will give her a better than even chance at fighting this infection off. I'm giving her an ant-fungal medication twice a day & Goldenseal (both from the vet). It's still very much touch & go, but if I can get her weight back up & the medications help her fight off the infection, she might well make it :wub: :wub: :wub: :wub: I'll try to take a photo of her "hospital", if it wasn't for the fact that she's very ill it would be quite funny, she has this big oxygen tank with the tube going in to the brooder, but she's so small you can hardly see her!! :) Anyway, again, I'm sorry for upsetting everyone & not telling you guys about this, but I wasn't even sure if she'd last until I got her home. I will of course keep you updated, but fingers crossed, she's one plucky little gal!! :wub: :wub: :wub: :wub: :) :) :) |
