As all of you know I sold Adam and Eve to a lady who wanted to try to breed them. She is not a breeder/breeder she used to raise and breed canaries as a hobby because they were small. She called me to say she has a nest box in but nothing happening yet. If and when they do I will get a pick of a baby. Anyhow her friend had a pair of Cockatiels that had 3 babies and she asked me if I wanted one for free. I wasn't going to because I thought it would be nice to only have to clean up after 2 birds again  However I do have a male, his name is Piper, he's 3 months old and he' a white faced but the white is just starting to show. Her's still a bit nervous but coming along, I've only had him for 5 days so it will take awhile to earn his trust.

Here's Piper

He looks lovely Bonnie I do think they make lovely pets and so I have heard they are very easy to make friends with as well. I have probably said before I was going for a tiel years ago until I found out about parrotlets or this could have been a tiel forum  He should get on well with your two Bonnie and will soon be copying their sounds.

Thank you he's a real cutie, I would never of thought about getting a Tiel but this lady wanted me so badly to take one of the babies. I had Adam and Eves large flight cage still set up so I cleaned it and now he has his own castle to live in. Should Adam and Eve make babies I have a perfect smaller cage to put it in :)

Congratulations on getting little Piper, Bonnie!!

I'm not surprised Adam and Eve are ignoring the box. They probably need to get settled before they start investigating it.

Piper is starting to really whistle a lot now so I'm trying to teach him a few things. It's just that I'm a terrible whistler :)

My male cockatiel is a real character, and though not hand-tame at all, loves to have a chat with people and has won quite a few hearts over!!! Having parrotlets, a lovebird and 2 tiels i've noticed a real difference in their behaviours and found cockatiels to be 'all mouth and no trousers' - they'll make a fuss but are gentle souls really!

He's starting to warm up to me a bit more every day. He will come down to listen to me talk to him or whistle. He won't do a thing but as soon as I walk away he starts in

There are loads of youtube clips of cockatiels whistling, some of them are very good, but that would depend on the owners whistling rasberry

Mine whistles the 'cucaracha'. He used to whistle the whole tune, but now will only do the first bit and then bend and hold his wings out towards you so you finish off the tune
My 'tiels seem particularly tuned in to whistling - even at night with their cover on they'll comment when it comes on a quiet telly!
