Hi Gary, welcome to the forum!! Both private breeders and pet shops will have baby parrotlets for sale. There may be someone on the forum from your area who can tell you where to get a baby locally. It's generally best to get one parrotlet because if you buy a pair, they will strongly bond to each other and then want nothing to do with you. Even if you think you may want two eventually, it's best to get one, bond with it, get it really tame, and then later on get another one if you still want one. They are fine on their own if they get enough time out with you each day. Also, it's best to get a baby who is just weaned, which is around 8 weeks old. Also one that is hand-fed or hand-reared so it will be tame when you get him/her. :) |

I would advise 1 parrotlet as well. hopefully i will have some baby parrotlets very soon if you are interested ? (where abouts in the midlands are you?) sky has now laid 3 eggs which hopefully will hatch in 21 days time, i am planning on handrearing them if i can, but the last set of babies were lovely and i did'nt hand rear them just handled them everyday. |

hello & welcome - i agree - 1 parrotlet is best, the younger the better. I have one of Jackie's babies and she is gorgeous! If you want a general look and perhaps see if there are any young parrotlets it is the Parrot Society show at Stafford Show Ground on October 11th, they will have loads of birds for sale there. It is better to have one that has been handled rather than been bred in an avairy and not handled if you want it to be really tame. |
