Can I put Scooby (boy) with Sky (girl) in
the same cage?
Ive been wondering about it for a while now..
They get on really well out of the cages...
Ive nothing in there for mating..(dont want that)
What do you think?

Hi Jan

I don't think there would be any problem with doing that at all, I would put them together during the day when your there to keep an eye on them and if they seem to be ok then try a night together. When I have put Parrotlets together I always change the cage totally around so everything is in a different place so its new to both birds, they then both have to find a place to sleep together or separately. They will probably mate but until I put a box in I had no problems.

Kev :)

blue2 Hi Keving I tried them togther for 2 hours this morning..
Scooby wouldnt let Sky eat out of his bowls...
I did change the cage around 1st..
But Scooby spent nearly all the time waddling his
neck and feeding her..
He was rather nasty while she was with him to me also..
Another one!!!!LOL....
Ill give it a go tomorrow again..
Thanks for your advise.

That's a great suggestion Kev made about changing things around in the cage. That way they both start out on the same footing! :)

Good luck with it Jan and keep us posted!

Remember that if they do live together and bond he might not want to be with you anymore Jan, you might find that he beats her up first then they will get on he's just showing her who is the boss, this is what Squeak always did when bubbles was out of the cage for more than a couple of days.

Everyone's given you good suggestions, Jan. Are their cages next to each other now? We put Boo and Pesto's cages next to each other as close as possible before putting them together. Boo (female) was the one who beat up Pesto, so we had to put them in separate cages and try again. Finally this worked.

Now they've been together a few years and there's been a role reversal. Pesto is the more aggressive one. They don't mate because Boo doesn't want to. Pesto does it with a perch as she looks on! Then we he's finished he pecks at her. Crazy little guys!!

LOL!!! I got so nervous the other day! I was sitting on the couch watching TV and I see all this commotion going on in Cricket's cage. I thought he was having a problem with a toy and that he had his foot or beak stuck in something...come to find out he was doing the nasty with his perch! LOL! My sweet little baby is all grown up!!! eek rofl
