2 new parrolets; Aggressive new male parrolets

I have had a green female Parrotlet"Kelli" for 1 1/2 years. She was not hand fed, still a little shy at times, but comes out of the cage and has warmed up nicely to me.
I recently got a green male "Kirbi" and a blue female "Belle", who were siblings from the same clutch and have been together for about a year. The lady that had them felt she was not giving them enough attention so I decided to take them. They were hand fed and friendly and would do the step ups when I brought them home. They were fine until I put them in the same room with my green female "Kelli". There was instant attraction between Kirbi and Kelli. The male became aggressive to "Belle" his sibling, so I put him in the cage with "Kelli" and they did ok, then he started pushing "Kelli" away from the food trays. Then I put each in a seperate cages. That works ok, but the two new ones became unfriendly, doesn't want to do step-ups and picks anytime my hand gets near them. Kirbi (male) even puffs up and squakes when I feed or give attention to Belle and Kelli ( females). I finally put Belle and Kirbi back in the same cage, and that works fine WHEN they are not in the same room with Kelli, but if Kirbi even sees Kelli then he turns on Belle. Right now I'm keeping Belle and Kirbi in another room away from Kelli where he can't see her. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

I think you may be best off keeping them all in separate cages, they will adjust. The males can become dominate over the females and sice the two are brother and sister it's best to keep them apart. If you put the new male with the female you already had they will most likely become bonded after awhile and want little if anything to do with you. Or the other scenario would be they may fight and hurt each other.

Wow...I think you got more than you bargained for! LOL! Sounds like you need to keep them separated. Keep us posted on how they are doing!

I've seen male parrotlets attack their cage mate when they see another bird in the room. The male is protecting his 'mate' from the danger of the other bird/parrotlet. It seems funny that they attack them in the process of protecting them, but that's what they do :) Some of the aggression might be from territorial issues too.

It does sound like three cages might be the best situation, like Bonnie and Gail said. :) Let us know how everything goes.

You could put Kellie & Kirbi in the same cage as long as they have time to get to know each other in separate cages, but they should be in a different room to Belle. We have a pair that are in one room & a single male that's in another & everything is fine. They don't seem to care if they hear each other, but p'lets are very territorial about their cage & won't tolerate another parrotlet if they can see them. As long as the other bird is out of sight things should be fine.
